00:01Previously on Project Runway,
00:03we will be designing a party dress
00:05for one of America's hottest socialites.
00:08Nicky Hill.
00:11Whoever took a form, return it, please.
00:14The group gets smaller.
00:15Things are getting more intense.
00:16It doesn't look like your sketch.
00:18It looks like this.
00:19As a designer, I don't trust my own creative voice.
00:30This dress was very similar to a dress I had worn.
00:37Oh, really?
00:38If you wore Guadalupe's dress,
00:41it's a guarantee what was she thinking.
00:43I chose Santino as the winner of this challenge.
00:47Thank you so much.
00:49Guadalupe, you're out.
00:52Auf Wiedersehen.
00:55At stake for the winner of Project Runway
00:57is a fashion spread in Elle magazine,
01:00a mentorship with the Banana Republic design team,
01:03a 2007 Saturn Sky Roadster,
01:06and $100,000 courtesy of Saturn to start your own line.
01:11This is Project Runway.
01:13Let's get it on.
01:14The search for the next big fashion designer.
01:16This is a dream come true.
01:18I'm gonna do whatever it takes to win.
01:2016 designers.
01:21Everyone here is crazy.
01:23Drama has to happen.
01:24Yes, I'm a competitive person.
01:26Three finalists will make it to Olympus Fashion Week.
01:29You will see me at Fashion Week.
01:30But only one can be the winner.
01:32Heck yeah, I'm gonna win this.
01:34For these 16 designers,
01:35Project Runway is a chance of a lifetime.
01:48Marla, is this yours?
01:49That's Lupe's for sure.
01:51She wore that.
01:52It's kind of weird when somebody drops out of the challenge
01:56that's one of your roommates.
01:58The group is getting smaller.
01:59I don't feel any different when we first started
02:02than we do right now.
02:03I just need to do what I need to do to stay in this competition.
02:06I think my confidence has increased a lot with the win.
02:15You know, Nikki Hilton couldn't have said sweeter things to me.
02:19I'm gonna design all the Hilton hotel merchandise
02:23in all the little gift stores.
02:29I think Santino is arrogant after winning,
02:32but it doesn't matter how many you win.
02:34You have to be on your game every time.
02:39Hello.
02:40Want to hear about your next challenge?
02:44Yes.
02:46You will be designing an outfit for Banana Republic.
02:51The winning garments will be sold
02:53in select Banana Republic stores and online.
02:57In a few minutes,
02:58we'll go to Banana Republic
02:59to meet with a head designer, Debo Lloyd.
03:02And you will be told exactly how this challenge will work.
03:05But first, let's bring out the winning
03:07and losing designers models.
03:10Models, this also is a competition for you as well.
03:22The model paired with a winner of Project Runway
03:24will get a fashion spread in Elle magazine.
03:27Santino, you were the winner of the last challenge.
03:31And your model is Heather.
03:34If you decide to stay with her, Eliza will be out.
03:37If you decide not to choose either of these two,
03:40I will bring out all the models for you to pick from.
03:43What do you want to do?
03:45If there's one thing that I am, it's a loyal person.
03:49And, you know, my loyalty is with Heather.
03:52And, you know, I want you forever.
03:54So...
03:55Congratulations.
03:57That means you're in.
03:59You can leave the runway.
04:00I can't.
04:02I'm sorry.
04:03It's okay.
04:04You're out.
04:06Auf Wiedersehen.
04:07Bye.
04:08Bye.
04:09Bye.
04:11Bye.
04:12Bye.
04:13Alright, it's time to find out about your challenge.
04:15I see you at Banana Republic.
04:16Bye.
04:17Bye.
04:18Bye.
04:19Bye.
04:20Bye.
04:21Bye.
04:22Bye.
04:23Bye.
04:24Bye.
04:25Bye.
04:26Bye.
04:27Bye.
04:28Bye.
04:29Bye.
04:30Bye.
04:31Bye.
04:32Bye.
04:33Bye.
04:34Bye.
04:35Bye.
04:36to you Deborah Lloyd. She's the head designer of Banana Republic and she'll tell you all about
04:41your next challenge. What we'd like you to do is design an outfit that will take the Banana Republic
04:45woman from day into evening for our spring collection. We'd like you to design this sophisticated,
04:51classy, modern outfit for the day where she can feel comfortable at work but then what does she
04:56do to it to make it appropriate for the evening? How can she make it a little bit sexier, a little
05:01bit you know fun for going out? When you design this I don't want you to lose your own personalities
05:06but I want you to remember this is for the Banana Republic customer. This challenge is about
05:11molding your creative vision to a national brand. So take your fabrics and then we'll go back to Parsons.
05:26Banana Republic is completely to the left of what I designed. We are polar
05:30opposites. It would mean a lot to me personally if my garment was sold at a store like Banana Republic.
05:39I like to start my own business and maybe this would be a step towards doing that.
05:51Everyone can I get you to gather around please?
05:54I have some important announcements. First, you have until midnight tonight to complete
06:02your design. Second, you will be working in teams of two.
06:10Each team of two will design and execute one outfit. There are no team leaders. Each of you is
06:19responsible for pairing with a partner. Stand next to the person with whom you want to pair. You have 60
06:25seconds to do that right now.
06:29I had already worked with Daniel Vasevic and we won. So I turned to him and I said,
06:34hey you want to do this again? He's like, yeah.
06:36I wasn't really sure what to do so I just kind of stood there for a little while and then Marla came
06:41up and asked me if I would be her partner. Our creative process is similar. So I think that we're a strong team.
06:49Nick was looking around the room and I was like, dude, if you're looking for somebody else to be
06:56partners with, you're just barking up the wrong tree because I don't want Emmett or Marla or some dead
07:03weight again. I think that I probably would have selected another partner. In fact, I was standing in
07:09front of Chloe and I sort of had in mind, well, this would be a perfect person and then it just
07:15happened to be that Emmett sort of came in from the side and so I was sort of left with Santino.
07:22Kara said that she wanted to be a teammate with me and I agreed. I was still trying to absorb that
07:27we had the team up. I was just like, oh my god, we have the team up. I don't want to team up with
07:31anyone. I just want to do this by myself. Now that you're paired up, you have some very important
07:36decisions to make. For instance, whose design are you going to execute? Whose fabric are you going to
07:42use? And whose model will you use for the runway judging? All right, good luck with all this.
07:53I like the idea of it tapering down, sort of like a julepy thing.
07:55Yeah, it's going to be like a pencil skirt.
07:57My original concept was to do a pencil skirt where the front part could flip towards the back and
08:02reveal a slit. The Native Republic is very minimalist and so we have to try and like keep it simple like
08:08something you would definitely wear at work. Diana's very strong in her ideas and we started
08:13on with that skirt in mind. I was willing to go along with it. I can't say that I believed in it a
08:18hundred percent. What if we incorporated almost like all of these details in a more modern look
08:25into the jacket? Andre and I finally ended up with a great concept. I started with the sexier dress
08:32underneath and then wanted to do a crop jacket for spring. The small swatch of it. That's the jacket.
08:37That's what I was thinking for the jacket. Daniel and I both felt that we're pulling together and
08:42almost thinking like one person, which is really exciting. The thing is, how are we going to
08:46how are we going to finish this? Don't worry, I can finish it. My partner turned out to be Emmett,
08:49which I'm really happy with because, you know, we get along pretty well. No collar seam? No collar seam.
08:54I like that better. Both Chloe and I know the clientele that shops at Banana Republic. So
09:00designing into this challenge is not designing into the dark. I'm thinking like it's like a wrap
09:07top with ties. Like I think this is cool. My original concept for the outfit was to do something that
09:14had the Asian influence. I've seen where Banana Republic is going and I feel like I know their future.
09:21I love these ideas. I just don't think for Banana Republic it's appropriate. It's not getting crazy here.
09:26No, I didn't say crazy. I sort of predicted that Santino would take over and he totally just put out
09:31all his sketches and mine were just sort of on the side. I knew you'll do what you want to do. I'm
09:36just telling you when we get up on the runway and talk to us, I just want to make sure I state my case
09:42that I did make my comments. Let me get the shrink. Is this release pleats or pleats all the way down?
09:47No, release pleats. That's where I'm confused. I felt the dress, the car design was something very
09:55similar to a Banana Republic aesthetic. So I really relied on Kara for this challenge.
09:59We could also make this into a dress and maybe play with different textures and tones.
10:06I kind of like that. This just comes off. I chose Zulema. We have very different aesthetics and very
10:12different styles. Was it the best choice? I have no idea. Hi everybody. What's up, Jim?
10:17I want to talk to you briefly about the judging tomorrow. You're working in teams of two. That
10:24means that the winning garment will have two designers associated with it. Correspondingly,
10:32the two designers who work on the losing outfit will both be out.
10:38I was absolutely shocked. I can't believe it. I'm completely surprised that two people are being
10:47eliminated. Coming up on Project Runway. You know, what do you think? I don't know. I can't stand the
10:55sound of her voice. You were the last two I would ever expect to be out. It's just heartbreaking.
11:08When we all found out that it was going to be a double elimination, it ruffled my feathers. Because
11:14now that really tied the two of you together. And if you didn't make it happen together, you were going
11:18home together. You have until midnight tonight to finish. This is the classic make it work time.
11:25All right. I'll see you a little later.
11:38How many people using the navy charmeuse? One, two, three. You guys are? Yeah.
11:46That's so scary. I can't do it a room full of navy. That is so boring. How is
11:54everyone using the same? If I see silk charmeuse put on another garment one more time, I'm just going to
11:59puke because I'm so over the fabric. It's so overused. Go with the navy and stick with the navy
12:04dress. We're not getting anywhere. Do the navy dress. We have two very different styles. Both
12:13of us are compromising and I don't think necessarily compromising in the best way.
12:17I think it looks better with the little thing on with the buttons. Okay. What do you think?
12:24And we'll do that. Wait, no, what do you think? I don't know. Yes. Well, I mean, no, no, no,
12:29ping. I felt very strongly about my design in the beginning. So Marla agreed that we could do my design,
12:34but then I wasn't sure that I wanted to do it. So I've sort of been changing my ideas around. Have the
12:39zipper and buttons on the same side. I think the more the challenge went on,
12:43it became clear that we had some very different ideas. My hesitation about the skirt was that I
12:48thought it wouldn't be flattering on the body. And the buttons, are they going to function?
12:52No, because that's so tech. I would say we were worried about not achieving the look we wanted to
12:58in the time we had. Diana is grasping at straws and she's so ridiculous in there. And I can't stand
13:06the sound of her voice. No, I think, no, I think that's right. No, it really should be this way,
13:12Marla. And it's just like, oh my God.
13:19Do you think this needs any, um, like, detail? I think it'd be cute if I based it first, like,
13:25between here and here or something. Nick and I worked together great. And, you know,
13:31we're going to probably win this one. The jacket goes to a seam. The jacket has a seam to there.
13:34I know, but I was wondering, like, we should have done, like... You also wanted...
13:38I don't know, maybe, but it doesn't have to be. I liked Santino. Asian aesthetic. It's just very
13:43difficult to get to Santino or have your own voice. You know, like, how a suit jacket has,
13:48like, a, you know, like, a little butt flap? Right. Do you think it's needed? Or do you think it's just
13:53adding? It's already a little flare. So I don't know if it needs it. Yeah. We've sort of found a good,
13:58happy medium. There are elements of my design as well as elements of his. The fact that you won't
14:03see 500 trims on it, you know I've tamed the beast.
14:12Oh my God. This is it. We got to speed up.
14:18Do this not first. Do this first. It's done now. Finish your skirt. This is a last minute thing.
14:28Just leave the seams clean. I don't like it.
14:48Something about the jacket looks so precious.
14:51That's a lot. That's a lot of precious.
14:53The jacket should look like, no, I'm not going home with you. And then it does. And then she
14:58takes it off at night and she says, but I might let you buy me a drink. All right.
15:01Well, you know something? Maybe more.
15:02Then you achieved it. Okay. Awesome.
15:05Good. Got it. Great. And it works. Awesome.
15:08Maybe in a facing? Yeah. Make me the facing pattern. I will sew it in real quick. This is beautiful.
15:12Took a long time to do. This is the office side. Okay.
15:16And then when she goes out. It's really stunning, guys. Great work. Thank you.
15:22Diana, Marloff. I just wanted to hear from both of you how you're doing.
15:30We have a pencil skirt. This part unbuttons over here. It'll wrap around on this side and button.
15:37Is the customer going to want to do that?
15:47I was relieved when Tim was advising us to change some of the look of the skirt.
15:53You're at the point where you need to have a very substantial dialogue about this and work this out.
15:58Carry on. Okay. All right?
16:02So what are you all doing? It's not quite together right now. We're rushing. We didn't totally agree.
16:07We have two different styles. But you've got to make it into one. Yeah, I know.
16:11It's just a simple dress. Oh, boy. I'm sorry. Okay. I don't see it. Just don't see it.
16:19I mean, I have to tell you, I think the two of you are really off the mark. Okay. And you're so
16:24talented. I have such confidence in each of you. And this is just not working for me. I think this
16:30challenge is more about cooperation. Maybe we just paired up. It was a bad pairing.
16:37What do you do? Conquer backwards. Yikes.
16:41You were the last two I would ever expect to be out with this challenge.
16:44I'm a calm person under pressure. Cara was actually so hysterical. I had to take over.
17:01This time now, trust me with this design. I'm telling you, it will work. I'm telling you.
17:07I said, listen, we're going to use this print. No one has touched this circular print. And I knew
17:13we didn't have a lot of time. I could do something where it's like seamed bodice with pleating. Okay,
17:19you're pinning it. You're wasting time. Work on that top. I'm going to show you right now. I'm going
17:23to pleat this whole thing right now. Zulema and Cara are like at each other's throats,
17:28like Cara's in tears. And Zulema's in there just like going ape .
17:34How's the top? Drape the top up to five inches below the waistline. Every part of the machine has
17:43to be working. If someone is lacking, you have to pick up the slack because one person's weakness
17:48can mean the end for both people. After talking with Tim, he told us that our skirt design was a
18:05little bit too bizarre with the front part flipping to the back. So instead, we've gone for a pencil
18:11skirt that unbuttons on the side for the slip. Time crunch is an issue. We're going to be working
18:17feverishly up until the end. All you need to do is lay it down. Cut it. Do the same pattern.
18:31I'm just really trying to keep calm because it's just not coming together. I know that I know the
18:38doom and I just don't think it's the right time. I don't care if you cry and cut, but you got to cry
18:45and cut. You got cut at that rate. Do whatever you need to do. What you need to do, you need to work.
18:51Don't stop and cry.
18:57I know that I'm better than this. I just feel sad, you know, when you know you've just got so much
19:02more to give. And I know I do. And it's just, it's just heartbreaking.
19:10Tresemme, here I come.
19:18Coming up on Project Runway.
19:20All right, everybody. This is it. I have a quick announcement to make.
19:24Oh, no. Of course, in true Project Runway style, that could mean anything.
19:41I'm going into the runway not as confident as I've been before. In fact, the least confident I've ever been before.
19:48It's just fashion. Lighten up. It's just fashion. Lighten up. It's just fashion. Lighten up.
20:04It's just take the corncob out of here.
20:06Ah, .
20:07Good morning, everyone. Good morning, Tim.
20:24You had a busy night, I can imagine.
20:26Yeah.
20:27All right, we have a busy, busy morning. You will have one hour for the Tresemme hair salon,
20:33the L'Oreal Paris makeup room, and fittings. Models are here. They're coming in right after I leave.
20:40All right? Okay.
20:41So I will see you in an hour.
20:48Cara and I just basically broke down what absolutely needs to be done and what can we get away with not
20:54doing at all. So we just try to use our time wisely. Prior to going to the runway show, Daniel and I both
21:01felt that what we had left to do was pretty simple and that we could accomplish it.
21:19We finished our outfit. It looked complete. I think that Diana and I felt safe that we created a garment
21:25that would get us on to the next challenge. This looks really pretty.
21:29One of our concept was that you can wear a reversible jacket from day to evening, but she had to reverse
21:35it on the runway. So I hope she can pull it off.
21:42I love this. I threw the dress on Eden. I felt it was very Banana Republic. I don't think that I was
21:50confident. It was more, oh goodness, I hope this makes it.
21:55All right, everybody. I need you to gather around me right here.
22:10We're taking a field trip.
22:11Tim said that we'd be taking a field trip and true Project Runway style, that could mean anything.
22:25I had no idea where we were going to end up. I just thought that it would go to some fabulous
22:28Park Avenue apartment.
22:30It was a big surprise. We figured it would have something to do with the runway show.
22:40Here we are.
22:42Welcome to part two of the Banana Republic Design Challenge. I am delighted to introduce Alessandra
22:48Brunialti, head of women's design under Deborah Lloyd. Alessandra is going to tell you about part
22:53two of the challenge.
22:54In today's marketplace, it is not enough to be a creative designer. You also have to be able to
22:59market, feature, and ultimately compel your customer to buy your products. So for the second
23:05part of this challenge, you will have to create a visual display that conveys your message on day into
23:12evening. The judges for this contest will be actual Banana Republic customers who not only will vote on
23:19who designed the best outfit. They will also vote on who had the strongest visual presentation.
23:25Their vote will decide the winner of this challenge. The rest of you will be judged on the runway.
23:30So we've assigned each of you a window. Your models will serve as living mannequins.
23:36And we're going shopping at Art Supply Store with a budget of $200. We'll have only 30 minutes to shop.
23:47And when we return, you'll have 60 minutes to put together your installation.
23:52All right. So Alessandra, thank you so much.
23:55Thank you. Good luck.
23:57We're going shopping.
24:05We need more white.
24:07Tim took us to go shopping. We were given 30 minutes,
24:10of which everyone's running around like nuts, trying to get this thing going.
24:18She's basically going to be directing us to do something, but we're like movers, painters.
24:23We were going to create a window display that was about our model playing the part of an art gallery
24:31owner. I think the best thing is to paint a drawing on the wall.
24:35Can you just get some desk supplies? I don't like it. Diana and I were arguing about what we
24:42were going to do in the window. I didn't want the window to look stupid. What do we need to do?
24:47You'll answer debate this later.
25:00I've got one more of these. Thank you.
25:02We were given one hour to put together a window display. I really saw this as a second opportunity,
25:07and we kind of just thought, that's it. We can really make this dress come to life.
25:12That's cool, because she's walking through the city. She's going straight from wherever to wherever.
25:17The general idea for the window display was to repeat the circles that were in the pattern
25:21of our outfit, and we really wanted to draw attention to the fact that we live in New York,
25:25and everyone's on the run. It's 24-7.
25:31Should we just do the cocktail thing where you're holding a cocktail?
25:34I think so. That's perfect.
25:35All the way up here, okay?
25:36Right now stand over near that thing so I can get a better perspective.
25:39Emmett came up with the idea that we would do drawing actually a life-size model of the day
25:44outfit and the evening outfit.
25:51It is more fabulous than I can say.
25:5940 minutes.
25:59Andre and I ended up doing two large clocks representing 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.
26:05that just by walking from one side to the other, shedding the coat, you could see how easy it was
26:12to take the outfit from day to night. You're at work on that side. You're at play on this side.
26:20I think if those were screwed in better.
26:22Do you all have a master plan?
26:24Yes.
26:24What is it?
26:25This is the background. So then we're putting, making kind of like a modern desk.
26:30Our idea was to make our window look office-like and crumpling paper in the front and then just
26:35have it totally spilling over into the window. And I was thinking our window looks stupid.
26:40We should not, we should only do it in the front on your side so you can walk in.
26:44Just pile them up.
26:46Pile them up.
26:47No, can we try to pile them over here by the trash can?
26:50I think the idea is that it's a ridiculous mess of paper.
26:53Open the paint. Open the paint.
26:58Whatever.
27:00The window was an odd size. It also was very difficult to climb into.
27:06We couldn't even get a lot of the stuff that we wanted to get in there.
27:09So it really limited us. And actually, you know, we became sort of frustrated.
27:14Oh my God.
27:17You.
27:20That's what it is.
27:23Done. That's it.
27:26Come outside.
27:35That's great.
27:35There were ballots at the front of the store and people could come and could choose which
27:41window that they liked the best.
27:42She knows how it worked out.
27:48I thought we had the most witty window and the one that I think made people kind of chuckle a little bit.
27:54Eden was working at Chet's such attitude. People were coming up and saying, oh my God, this window's amazing.
28:03When it came down to the time, we were just rushing. So I was thinking, oh my God, our window looks incomplete.
28:18Grace did a great job at selling the day to evening concept. I think that the window was really great.
28:24I looked in those boxes and I didn't actually see one ballot in there that said five on it.
28:37I don't know how that that's actually possible, but you know, whatever.
28:41Congratulations.
28:44Time's up. Can I ask you to gather around? The fate of the winner is in these boxes.
28:54And I have them.
28:57Coming up on Project Runway.
28:58I don't really think this looks elegant. I'm sorry.
29:06Lots of women know Banana Republic and don't know Michael Kors.
29:14Hello.
29:18Welcome to the runway. As you know, in fashion, one day you're in and the next day you might be out.
29:23There's ten of you now and after tonight there will be eight.
29:32You worked in teams of two in this last challenge.
29:36Both members of the losing team will be out.
29:41Your challenge was to design a day to night outfit for Banana Republic.
29:46This was about molding your creative vision to a national brand.
29:50We gave you fabric and a day to put it together.
29:54Earlier today, you created window displays to feature your designs.
29:59Banana Republic customers have voted on the window display and garment they like best
30:05and have determined the winning team.
30:11The winning team's garment will be sold in select Banana Republic stores and online.
30:18Okay, let's meet the judges.
30:19fashion designer Michael Kors.
30:25Nina Garcia, fashion director of Elle magazine.
30:29And Deborah Lloyd, head designer for Banana Republic.
30:32We'll be scoring your designs as they come down the runway to determine the losing team.
30:37And two of you will be out.
30:40Let's start the show.
30:49Andre and I ended up with a great concept.
30:52It was very clear.
30:53I thought visually it stood out.
30:55It was very Banana Republic.
30:57When Rebecca came down the runway, I felt that she looked really sophisticated.
31:09For me, this was the achievement of a lifetime.
31:11I felt like it was last minute.
31:14We pulled it together.
31:15But I don't ever want that to happen again.
31:18When Eden walked down the runway in the Banana Republic outfit, I thought it looked clean.
31:22And it looked nice.
31:23And it looked in the Banana Republic, the sphere of things.
31:40I'm very satisfied with how our garment came out.
31:43And I feel like it really did express what I wanted it to.
31:46I thought that was very Banana Republic.
31:51I felt good about Leslie walking down the runway in her outfit.
31:54I thought she looked great.
32:09I was very proud of what Chloe and I had put together.
32:12It was a very tasteful day to evening ensemble.
32:19On the runway, Grace reversed the jacket.
32:21It didn't look like she was struggling with it at all.
32:33When we went into the runway show, I actually felt okay.
32:36But I felt that the whole outfit put together was a little out there.
32:39I thought that my concept was really appropriate for Banana Republic, but was a little bit forward,
32:47like the next page that they need to be going.
33:01We've tallied your scores.
33:15Designers, please step onto the runway.
33:29So, surprise, we're going to keep all of you out here for the Q&A.
33:42We're going to bring out your models, ask you some questions, and one team will be named the winner.
33:49and two of you will be out let's bring out the models
34:11I'm going to start with Daniel and Andre and I want to hear what Debra things
34:19I think you guys did a really nice job it's modern I think you really listened to what I had to say
34:24I think it's feminine I think it's beautiful and I love the versatility of the dress I think you
34:29guys really thought about it it's cute it's very cute the fact that you can throw it in a hobo bag
34:35it's modern I think that you merged what they're about and what you're about and I think that that's
34:42the objective of this thank you so much I would like to continue with Kara and Salima and I want
34:52to ask Debra again to start when I first saw it come out I thought the dress was beautiful and
34:56then I start to look a little bit more closely and I was like what have they done in the sleeves there's
35:02this little funny puff thing going on and there's bits hanging off the hem and everything like that
35:06that was there a little bit of lost-minuteness to this well Kara and I have very different styles
35:12because of that we had to hurry a little with the garment it is a very beautiful dress is adorable I
35:20can't quite figure out this 80s like power bitch Mugler jacket would you really wear that with that
35:27dress I think the dress alone it's a great dress Diana and Marla I had a little bit of a hard time
35:38with this who was your sort of woman behind it um well I guess we looked at banana republic as being
35:43all about classic pieces that are separates and that can be mixed and matched with different things I
35:49think each piece is good but it just doesn't feel that modern I think she looks like a stewardess I'm
35:55waiting for her to give me a coffee Chloe and image I loved this outfit I agree with Nina the only
36:10thing that I look at I think it looks very Bergdorf's and not very banana republic I know it looks really
36:15expensive bird off given but in a sense if you don't have the budget for that this is a good other way
36:20to go next I would like to go to Nick and Santino Deborah um so tell me a little bit about what you
36:31are thinking I love the idea of this woman being an art director or working at a fashion magazine or
36:38sort of like a gallery owner or sort of somebody working in Soho I know the most powerful women in
36:44the art world right they're my customers right and they would not walk into their galleries dressed
36:50like that well I feel like your customer is a little bit older I think that this is a banana
36:55republic woman and I know lots of women who who know banana republic and don't know Michael Kors it's
37:03a beautifully styled piece but it's not so believable for our customer it's too much it needs to be edited
37:11yet again how did you guys work together you know Santino of course is known to you know put
37:17on a couple trims and then some and so I think I thought I could you know sort of you know tone you
37:25know tone it down a bit but he knew exactly what he would was wanted to go for I don't really think
37:32this looks elegant I'm sorry okay we heard what you had to say we're gonna have a little chat and
37:41I'm gonna call you back onto the runway I'm gonna start with Deborah I think I really like Daniel and
37:53they really did the whole package I think they thought about the challenge and they pulled it
37:59off I also think it seemed like they work together very well I did love Chloe and Emmet I think it was a
38:09little esoteric for our customer but it was very well done I did like a car and Zulima's dress they just
38:22didn't put the two pieces together it looked like two people were designing that collection and didn't
38:28agree and the whole point was it had to be one cohesive statement yeah Diana and Marla wake me out
38:39of my nap yeah it was the secretary cliche but without the quirkiness even it was boring it was
38:50boring plus not woman-friendly just flat really really flat how about Nick and Santino they didn't
39:06really necessarily listen to the challenge Santino's always trying to prove to us just how damn creative
39:11he can be it's trying too hard is too overly designed it's too much so you want to know which team at the
39:22most votes yeah I agree yeah and do you want to know which team that the least votes yep okay let's bring them
39:43back out there are five teams on the runway one team will be named the winner and one team will be out
40:08and one team will be out Andre and Daniel
40:34congratulations you're the winner of this challenge
40:40well done you had the most votes for your window I just can't wait to see that fit in our spring
40:52collection at banana Republic thanks I see you there congratulations you can leave the runway
40:56I'm thrilled that it's gonna happen it's fantastic that they're going to make our dress
41:04there are four teams left three teams will be in and one team will be out
41:18Emmett and Chloe yes you're in thank you you can leave the runway
41:27thank you thank you thank you
41:57Santino and Nick
42:11again this was over designed and you also did not think about the banana Republic woman
42:20Diana and Marla
42:27your look was dull and cliche and it didn't really work for day or night
42:36Santino and Nick
42:40Santino and Nick
42:41Santino and Nick
42:42Santino and Nick
42:44you're in
42:45you can leave the runway
42:46thank you thank you
42:49that means Diana and Marla
42:59you're out
43:03I learned a lot of lessons about being a designer that I think it would have taken me years to
43:32learn in the industry. Marla, Diana, you have to go up to the work room and clean up your space, okay?
43:38Bye guys!
43:40Bye! See you!
43:42I hope that when I go back to my life I challenge myself more in my designing. That's probably the most important thing I want to take back with me.
43:54I'm going to start a new leg of my life and I'm really excited about it. I have no idea what's coming up next, but I can't wait
44:01to see what happens.
44:04Next, on Project Runway, I'm going to get a little package and it will have all the details inside of it.
44:10Oh, wait, wait, wait, wait! What?
44:13I'm hysterical!
44:15Oh my god!
44:17Hi!
44:18I am thrilled to introduce you to Sasha Cohen. I just died and went to heaven.
44:22There's entirely too much being exposed. It's vulgar in my opinion.
44:27It's very, very disco Vegas.
44:29Just a little nervous.
44:30Thanks, man.
44:31Thanks, man.
44:32I'll see you later on, play for Christmas.
44:34See a little bit.
44:36I'll see you later on there.
44:39All right.
