00:01Previously on Project Runway,
00:03each of you will be creating a new look
00:06for one of your fellow designers.
00:09Santino, you will be designing for Cara.
00:12Cara for Santino.
00:15Chloe for Nick.
00:17Daniel for Chloe.
00:18Nick for Daniel.
00:21I'm worried about this.
00:22Okay.
00:23I'm worried about the feminine overtone.
00:26Yeah, that's better.
00:27You can't polish a turd.
00:30That's so weird.
00:32Santino is driving me crazy.
00:34Heck.
00:36Daniel Vasevic and Nick
00:38have kind of turned me into their enemy.
00:41Unnecessary tension will breed nothing but bad things.
00:49Nick.
00:50I totally don't understand.
00:53No buttons, no pockets.
00:55You see every ripple on those scenes.
00:59Santino.
01:00What's happening with her sleeve?
01:01Is it simply falling off?
01:03So, are you comfortable in this, Cara?
01:09I feel awful that I didn't sign anything in.
01:14Congratulations.
01:15Chloe, you're the winner of this challenge.
01:21Santino.
01:22Santino.
01:23You're in.
01:24Nick.
01:25That means you're out.
01:26What's happening?
01:27What's happening?
01:28I'm sorry.
01:29I'm sorry.
01:30I'm sorry.
01:31At stake for the winner of Project Runway
01:33is a fashion spread in Elle Magazine,
01:35a mentorship with the Banana Republic design team,
01:38a 2007 Saturn Sky Roadster,
01:41and $100,000 courtesy of Saturn to start your own line.
01:46This is Project Runway.
01:48Let's get it on.
01:49To search for the next big fashion designer.
01:51This is a dream come true.
01:52I'm going to do whatever it takes to win.
01:5516 designers.
01:56Everyone here is crazy.
01:58Drama has to happen.
01:59Yes, I'm a competitive person.
02:01Three finalists will make it to Olympus Fashion Week.
02:04You will see me at Fashion Week.
02:05But only one can be the winner.
02:07Heck yeah, I'm going to win this.
02:08For the 16 designers, Project Runway is a chance of a lifetime.
02:15Nina Garcia asks Santino,
02:17so what's up with the sleeve?
02:19On the runway, he's like, what sleeve?
02:20What sleeve?
02:21What sleeve?
02:22What sleeve?
02:23I'm like, are you crazy?
02:24I didn't think Nick should go.
02:26But, you know, Santino, I think, got lucky again and survived.
02:32If he makes it the final three,
02:34who's going to really sew his stuff?
02:35Because he hasn't really machine-sew anything for real.
02:38If he couldn't sew that jumpsuit...
02:40That man would kill his young to go to the final three.
02:43I swear he'd kill...
02:45He doesn't mean he would walk over anyone as far as I'm concerned.
02:51Santino just really pissed me off.
02:53I really don't have a whole lot to say to him.
02:56Nick is now gone from 35D.
02:59Hopefully it's me and the girls for the final three.
03:03I think everybody has contempt for me here.
03:06There's just one more person that needs to avidazane.
03:10I'm excited.
03:11I feel really pumped up.
03:13And I feel like, um...
03:16This is my time to shine.
03:18You guys are ready for your next challenge, right?
03:31Yes.
03:32Because this one is a very important one.
03:35It will determine which three of you will make it to Olympus Fashion Week,
03:39where the winner of Project Runway will be chosen.
03:44Okay, here it is.
03:45You will be designing an evening gown.
03:48And that evening gown must represent the collection that you will show at Olympus Fashion Week.
03:56Yeah, yeah.
03:57Oh my God.
03:58Just like that.
03:59So I hope you all thought about it already, what you're all gonna do.
04:01Yeah.
04:02This is a little sneak preview for us.
04:04All right.
04:05Got it?
04:06Let's bring out the winning and losing designers models.
04:14Models, this also is a competition for you as well.
04:18The model paired with the winner of Project Runway will get a fashion spread in Elle Magazine.
04:23Chloe, you're the winner of the last challenge.
04:26Your model was Grace.
04:28And if you decide to stay with her, Rachel will be out.
04:33What do you want to do?
04:34I'm sticking with Grace.
04:36Congratulations.
04:38Grace, you're in.
04:40Thanks.
04:41Rachel, I'm sorry you're out.
04:43Auf Wiedersehen.
04:47Bye.
04:48Thank you, baby.
04:49Okay, you have your models.
04:51You have your challenge.
04:53I see you back here on the runway.
04:55Where we pick the final three.
04:57Bye.
05:06Good morning, everybody.
05:07Good morning, Tim.
05:08Can I ask you all to gather round?
05:11It's a little small group, isn't it?
05:14On the topic of Olympus Fashion Week, it does happen worldwide.
05:18And 7th on 6th is the organizer of all this.
05:22Fern Mallis is the executive director.
05:24We are going on a brief field trip to have an audience with Fern.
05:29Oh.
05:30Great.
05:31Yeah.
05:32This is your opportunity to ask Fern questions about Fashion Week.
05:36So we're going right now.
05:38Isn't it great?
05:39That is great.
05:40This is amazing.
05:41I mean, you know, face to face with a woman of such power and such esteem in the fashion
05:47industry.
05:52She's like a fashion icon in the city, in my opinion.
05:55She decides who gets to be in the tent, bottom line.
05:58And you want to be in the tent.
06:01So designers, how thrilling to have 7th on 6th executive director Fern Mallis here.
06:06To have a private audience with you.
06:08This is really wonderful.
06:09Thank you so much.
06:10We're very pleased to do it.
06:12We put on about 70 shows a week in the tents.
06:15And we want to make sure that we present the best shows.
06:18You know, the people who really have a point of view.
06:21Do you believe that most people in the audience of a runway show tend to remember the things
06:26that they don't like versus things that they do like?
06:29I think that they've been pretty well trained to remember the good stuff.
06:33It's those good things that add up in their notebook that they look at at the end of a
06:37week or a season.
06:38Any beginner mistakes that you can kind of give to us to avoid.
06:43I can't ever underestimate being nice.
06:46When Fern was talking to us about being nice, I wanted to just really quickly glance at
06:56Santino and, you know, and just kind of say, look it, I told you so.
07:01It doesn't help to be a bitch and to be nasty and to win that battle by being the tirade.
07:07People have no patience for that.
07:09In the long run, it's about people working with people.
07:12You can't be nice all the time.
07:14I want to win this competition, Olympus Fashion Week.
07:17It's the Super Bowl of American fashion.
07:20We look forward to seeing three of you go out there and go knock our socks off.
07:25Yes.
07:26Right.
07:31We're back at Parsons, the new school for design, and you have an hour to sketch.
07:35We found out our last challenge would be to design an evening gown that will reflect our
07:44collection if we make it to a fashion week.
07:46My collection, 1940s Hollywood glamour.
07:48So my dress is completely open back and slightly sexy but sophisticated.
07:53Definitely clean lines, nothing messy.
07:57When I sat down to sketch, I had a specific silhouette.
08:00I wanted something very high impact for the runway, which meant a high slit and flowing fabric.
08:06Very body conscious, which is something that I'm kind of known for.
08:09My theme for my perspective collection, it's very Hollywood.
08:15It's going to be very glamorous, making the magic happen, creating a really amazing dress.
08:22Evening wear, quite a challenge for me because, as I say, it's not something that's familiar.
08:29When I started sketching, I didn't know what I wanted exactly.
08:33Hi, everybody. Ready to go shopping?
08:36Mm-hmm.
08:37All right, we have an hour.
08:38And there's one other thing.
08:40Counting today, you have two days for this challenge.
08:53Color story-wise, I'm debating between I need a silk, charmeuse, or a satin.
08:58For this challenge, we had $300 for our budget.
09:01I was looking for very expensive fabrics that could flutter and give me shine for the runway.
09:08Or gold, gold.
09:10My color palette ended up being chiffon, embellished chiffon with the gold paillettes.
09:16I also found crinkle silk chiffon and some pleated tulle.
09:21This is not the jersey I want. This is the jersey I want.
09:26These are the chiffons.
09:28This one was difficult because I didn't know where to start from.
09:32I hadn't quite really worked out my fabrics.
09:35I'm very simple. My designs are always simple.
09:37I'm with you. I'm with you. And that's you.
09:39I just want this trip to be successful for all of you.
09:41Your look is sporty, isn't it?
09:51I know. I don't think it's too sporty, I'll be honest.
09:54But, I mean, throwing a racer back and an evening gown, I love it.
09:58You do?
09:59I say stick with it.
10:00You do?
10:01I say stick with it.
10:02You do?
10:03I say stick with it.
10:04You like it?
10:05Evening wear is definitely not my forte.
10:07It's not my niche at all.
10:09This is an amazing start.
10:11Yeah, it's a good find.
10:13When Cara gives me a compliment now, I just say thank you.
10:18And I put my head back down.
10:19I just keep working.
10:20It's about our own individual vision, not about, you know, helping out someone else.
10:28Sounds like trees wrestling.
10:30Although it's a competition and we all want to get to the end of the race,
10:33we're kind of really helping each other out.
10:36But Santino hasn't said a word to anyone today.
10:39Can you believe it?
10:40After tomorrow, one of us is going to have to go.
10:43Final decision.
10:44Watch, I'm going to get kicked out.
10:46No!
10:48That's what's the only thing going through my head.
10:50Really?
10:51Yeah.
10:52So, but why do you say you're going to be kicked out?
10:54Why wouldn't it be me?
10:56Why would it be you?
10:58Well, I'll be the same.
10:59That's so weird.
11:00Santino is very arrogant.
11:04He should have gone home in the last challenge.
11:07I just think that a little more credit should have been given to Nick.
11:10He was a good designer.
11:21I can see it in good, the fabric.
11:24I've worked hard to get here, and I want to win.
11:30I want to show amazing clothes.
11:34Good night, work room.
11:36It's really unfortunate how fickle Nick became with me.
11:51I heard Nick say, like, at least my garment's not taped together or whatever.
11:56It's like, Nick, whatever.
11:58And what's happening with her sleeve over here on her left?
12:02It's just part of the design, or is it simply falling off?
12:05Everybody's garment was off.
12:08No, it wasn't.
12:09Yeah, it was.
12:10Yeah, it was.
12:11Yeah, it was.
12:12So, what the dude?
12:14I thought mine was way better, regardless.
12:17I mean, I think you're really lucky that they have that eyesight.
12:21Dude, I mean, whatever.
12:24To say that he's sending out great quality stuff when it's falling apart before our eyes is just so sad to me.
12:34You're not going to trip over the fact that you can't send a garment out.
12:38So, whatever.
12:40It's, it's...
12:44Coming up on Project Runway.
12:45I want it so bad right now.
12:47I'm so questioning if I want it.
12:48Uh, uh.
12:49What?
12:50I have a big surprise.
12:52Oh, my God!
13:00Last night with Daniel, I'm like, dude, you're not making me feel guilty.
13:04I could give a less, really.
13:06You know, I'm going to say what I'm going to say.
13:08I definitely feel like Daniel's full of for all that.
13:11It's, like, straight up just jealousy.
13:14Final days.
13:15Santino, he just seems a bit like a one-trick pony.
13:20Hopefully the judges will look more closely at this final challenge to see who is going to the top three.
13:26Today's the second day of work on the evening gown challenge.
13:42I just need to do my best.
13:44Hi, everybody.
13:45What's the matter?
13:46I've been battling with this racer back.
13:50This is the fifth aspect.
13:51This back is more expected.
13:53In some ways.
13:54Well, that's why I thought the racer back is a nice sort of twist on an evening gown.
14:00I felt a little nervous going forward into this challenge because it had a lot of repercussions.
14:07Too safe is not good.
14:09In a business like this, you have to be a little risque.
14:12So, you're working on the halter?
14:16Yes.
14:17It's kind of Marlena Dietrich right now.
14:19Exactly.
14:20And I don't want it to look period.
14:21I don't want it to.
14:22I want it to be modern and sharp.
14:24I want to bring this band around here.
14:27Yes.
14:28This one is.
14:29That's an important design element.
14:30Agreed.
14:31All right.
14:32Let's fix it now.
14:33I want to make Rebecca look too old.
14:35Sophistication can be had for a 20-year-old, but it also can be had for a 50-year-old.
14:39Okay, so Chloe, what is happening with the skirt?
14:43Is it going to have more body, more volume, or am I looking at it?
14:46You're like an addict.
14:48It looks like a bathing suit with kind of a towel wrapped around it or something.
14:52Mmm.
14:53That's not good.
14:54Are you responding positively to the seam being here?
14:57I actually had it low before, then I had it higher.
14:59I mean, I'm just going to be honest with you, it bothers me.
15:02There's something about it that I just find odd.
15:07Beautiful.
15:08Thanks.
15:09Beautiful.
15:10Do you have a timeline?
15:12I do.
15:13I need to connect the skirt.
15:15I need to get this prepared on here.
15:17That's the challenge.
15:18Right, getting those paillettes on here.
15:20Yeah.
15:21Because it's all, each one is sewn individually.
15:23I know, but still, look at it.
15:25I know, but it's real.
15:26Look at the volume.
15:27But it's easy to dissect.
15:29I hope so.
15:30It is.
15:31Okay.
15:33Make it work.
15:34It doesn't bother me what Tim said.
15:36I was the only one that didn't have any silk charmeuse.
15:40I used, like, a stretch silk satin.
15:43It's completely different from what everyone else is doing, and different is better.
15:48Can I ask you to stop what you're doing for just a minute and gather round?
15:55For the last 24 hours, you have all been designing an evening gown that represents the collection you would show on the runway at Bryant Park for Olympus Fashion Week.
16:07Yeah.
16:08I could continue to do that.
16:09But I have a big surprise.
16:11It involves a supermodel among supermodels.
16:16Wow.
16:17It's Emon.
16:18Oh, my God.
16:19Oh, my God.
16:20Oh, my God.
16:21Oh, my God.
16:22Oh, my God.
16:23Oh, my God.
16:24Oh, my God.
16:25Dish, dish.
16:26Emon will be our guest judge.
16:28Oh, my God.
16:29Oh, my God.
16:30She will wear the winning evening gown on the red carpet at a big event.
16:36Continue your trajectory.
16:39She's an icon.
16:40It's just incredible to know that one of the garments can be seen on the red carpet.
16:46Carry on.
16:47Holy .
16:49I love Emon.
16:50I'm really excited, and I feel like the color and the direction that I'm going is something that Emon would love.
17:00to wear on the red carpet.
17:02I can't wait to hear her talk.
17:03I love her voice.
17:05I think all of us would hit a brick if we win this one.
17:09Not only the fact that it would get us to Olympus Fashion Week, but someone of Emon's caliber, of her beauty, would be wearing a garment that we made.
17:18All of a sudden just got nervous.
17:20You?
17:21Mm-hmm.
17:22Anxious nervous.
17:23Don't worry.
17:24You'll be fine.
17:25I'm on it so bad right now.
17:27Jumpstart our careers, start our lives.
17:29For you, it would be jumpstarting your career.
17:32Yeah.
17:33Yeah.
17:34I'm still questioning if I want it.
17:36Uh-uh.
17:37What?
17:38Mm-hmm.
17:39Oh, my gosh.
17:40I don't know.
17:41I lived that life.
17:42It's a hard life.
17:44Chloe had expressed that the fact that she doesn't want to be as big as this fame could kind of ultimately catapult her to.
17:52Kara and Centino and myself would love that big break.
17:56My sister probably gonna hear that and slap me upside my head.
17:59What you thinking about, fool?
18:01What you saying that crap for?
18:03I pretty much went to New York when I was 20.
18:05I worked really hard.
18:06The one reason I moved back to Houston, Texas, is because I wanted to have a balanced life.
18:10Seriously.
18:11Hard life.
18:12I know.
18:13We talked about it.
18:14Yeah.
18:15This whole time I'm thinking, okay, go to Olympus.
18:16We can make it to final three.
18:17But now that I'm so close to it, it's kind of freaking me out.
18:21And there goes Kara with her schmooze.
18:32She's pulling it apart.
18:33Can she?
18:34Can she?
18:35Oh, I haven't seen one of these in years.
18:40It's a steam off.
18:42Hi, everybody.
18:43Hi.
18:44I hope you're doing well.
18:45During your dinner break, I'm taking a break.
18:50I'm taking you on a field trip.
18:52What?
18:53Follow me, please.
18:54Right now.
18:55Do we need our bags?
18:56You don't need anything.
18:57Don't need anything.
18:58Let's go.
18:59Kara?
19:00Tim came in and said to us that we'd be going on a field trip.
19:04Which was like, what?
19:05Why are you taking us out of the workroom?
19:07Are you crazy?
19:11Where are we going?
19:12This is so amazing that we're leaving and we're not making our address.
19:17Suede?
19:18Thanks, David.
19:19Tim, what do you have planned for us?
19:21Whoa.
19:22Hey, guys.
19:23Welcome.
19:24Nice to see you.
19:26We thought we'd, you know, throw a little party for you.
19:30Michael is here.
19:31Your models are here.
19:33We're going to see Austin, Kara Son, Jay is here.
19:36All right.
19:37Let's have some fun.
19:38Mingle, mingle, mingle, everybody.
19:39How's it been going?
19:40Hello.
19:41I'm Austin.
19:42How do you do?
19:43It was great.
19:44You know, we kind of, like, sizzle down with a little sizzler, you know?
19:48Pull it away.
19:49Let me see.
19:50How many, how many...
19:51It was that last project.
19:52They were, we had been, like, completely sort of wiped out.
19:54And that's when you start, like...
19:55You second guess yourself.
19:56You're just like, I know.
19:57Go back to that room.
19:58I know.
19:59And do what you have to do.
20:00Because this one is the important one.
20:01So you're working on your last challenge dress?
20:02Right.
20:03Oh.
20:04Yeah.
20:05We bombed.
20:06Our group bombed on that last challenge.
20:07So you think you have a good chance?
20:08Yeah, I do.
20:09I hope you get canned.
20:10I'm just kidding.
20:11He's tiny.
20:12You can never be too thin or too rich, I always say.
20:13And I've got the thin part down.
20:14I've just got to work on the riches.
20:15So it's changed your life completely.
20:16Well, you know what?
20:17Because people on a large scale, you know, you're not going to be too thin or too rich.
20:22I always say.
20:23And I've got the thin part down.
20:24I've just got to work on the riches.
20:26So it's changed your life completely.
20:27It will.
20:28You know what?
20:29Because people on a large scale get to see what goes into what you do.
20:34And that's what they always say.
20:35I get to see what goes into what you do.
20:37I talk actually the most to Kira Sun.
20:39And she was just saying how her life really changed after this.
20:42I'm like, my God.
20:43You know, this is like hardcore serious after this.
20:46I just feel privileged to have made such credibility.
20:49I really don't know that sounds corny.
20:51Fashion is about what's new, what's next.
20:54So for me, I'm just as invigorated to watch all of you.
20:59Get over here.
21:00There's a toast.
21:01You guys have done an amazing job, really.
21:05And we know how hard it is.
21:06We really do.
21:07And my hat's off to all of you to come this far.
21:10So cheers.
21:12Cheers.
21:15Coming up on Project Runway.
21:17You and Chloe and Carl played a safe.
21:20You just have to say, Nina, I wanted her to look like she had a big fat ass.
21:23Can someone help me?
21:24I need to be very selfish.
21:26Sometimes I can be such a dick.
21:37Someone finish all of our dresses.
21:40Do you know how much time we have, Tim?
21:42You have until 1 o'clock.
21:44So use it wisely.
21:46And I'll see you in the morning.
21:48All right?
21:49Make it work.
21:51After coming back from the party, we came back to the workroom to kind of finish up on our garments.
21:56Chloe, I'm so worried about this puckering.
21:58It's so obvious.
22:00And the puckering, that's why I don't do stretch.
22:03I feel like what I have to say is so different from Daniel and Chloe and Kara, that on sheer difference and risk-taking, I have a spot in the final three.
22:23Tomorrow, one person will go home.
22:25Santino was adding more and more and more onto his outfit.
22:30It's his choice to go over the top.
22:33Santino's was extremely over-designed.
22:35If one thing I know, I know gowns and proportions.
22:37So I'm gonna stick to my instinct.
22:46Are you guys ready to go?
22:47Let's go.
22:48The question is...
22:49Green label.
22:50Green label.
22:51Who's in?
22:52Your dress or Kara's dress?
22:53I don't know.
22:54I don't know.
22:55It's just not my personal style.
22:56And if he's adding more paillettes, it's gonna be a turkey.
22:57I'm not kidding.
22:58The question is...
22:59Green label.
23:00Green label.
23:01Who's in?
23:02Your dress or Kara's dress?
23:03Um...
23:04It's either one or the other.
23:05The thing that I think is funny is how safe, like, you and Chloe and Kara played it.
23:12All we can do is what we can do, you know?
23:17I like your dress now.
23:18I think it's gonna be okay.
23:19I think...
23:20Thanks.
23:21I'm hoping just to get by.
23:47You ready to rumble?
23:48Yeah.
23:49You ready to rumble?
23:50Yeah.
23:51You ready to rumble?
23:52I can't quite pinpoint if Chloe's very passionate about Olympus Fashion Week.
23:57She's really kind of tiptoeing around this, um, challenge.
24:01Let's go.
24:12Oh, my gosh.
24:15Can someone help me or...
24:17No.
24:18Call...
24:19I just had...
24:20I had more work than I had time left.
24:23Sometimes you can be such a dick.
24:26In this moment, I need to be very selfish or else I'm just gonna keep helping everybody
24:31and I'm gonna be the asshole that has helped everybody and doesn't have a very impressive outfit.
24:40Hi, everybody.
24:41How's everyone doing?
24:43Make it work time.
24:45Yes, it is make it work time.
24:47You know, Chloe, I gotta tell you, I'm disappointed.
24:49Uh-huh.
24:50I mean, this just looks like it's hugging a rear end.
24:53Oh, I wanted...
24:54I wanted to hug the rear end.
24:55All right, but you just have to say all these things in the wrong way.
24:57I do, I do.
24:58Nina, I wanted her to look like she had a big fat ass.
25:00Uh-huh.
25:01Someone's gonna be out.
25:02Uh-huh.
25:03It worries me.
25:04So, Cara, the sash?
25:07Well, the sash is here.
25:10Okay, you are doing it.
25:11I don't know.
25:12Oh, Cara.
25:14Why are you ambivalent?
25:16If you think about using this in some way and going for that look and that idea.
25:25Once I saw this, I felt like she was pretty complete.
25:28Here's the risk for everybody except Santino.
25:30I haven't seen Daniel's.
25:32Is it just a dress?
25:35What's really special about it?
25:37You need to think about how to respond to that.
25:39Daniel?
25:40I mean, you and Cara have sort of similar silhouettes, but you have a very different feeling.
25:45Actually walking down the runway, I know mine's going to open up completely.
25:49Yes, exactly.
25:50A completely different feeling.
25:51Exactly, it'll have a different feeling.
25:52So, I'm really happy with it.
25:53Finish it.
25:54You don't have to work with it.
25:55Okay.
25:56All right.
25:57The body's all together.
25:58The skirt panels are sewn on.
26:00I need one more in the front.
26:02Can I tell you how I respond to this now without any additional embellishment?
26:07Let me have it.
26:08Well, no, it looks like a costume.
26:10It looks like Renaissance Fest to me.
26:13Oh, I see what you're saying.
26:15You know, I see Guinevere.
26:17I think you need to pursue the vision that you described to me earlier.
26:20Yeah.
26:21Which means you've got a lot more work to do.
26:22Yeah.
26:23Use this time well.
26:24And Santino, you look like you have the most work to do.
26:26You have an hour to prep your models.
26:28You'll take them to the Tresemme hair salon and the L'Oreal Paris makeup room.
26:33One hour to prep.
26:35I'll see you downstairs.
26:36I'm bringing the models in shortly.
26:37Okay.
26:38Thank you very much.
26:39I'm really not nervous.
26:40You don't think you are.
26:41Hopefully, Michael Kors isn't eavesdropping so that he can put in his two cents and go, I don't know where you guys live, but it's like you guys live in a Renaissance Fest.
26:55Grace, where are you, honey?
26:57Thanks, Grace.
26:58It's some navy.
26:59It's our good color.
27:00It's our good color.
27:01I don't want it costuming.
27:02This is for Iman.
27:03And it needs to be able to relate to her.
27:08Beautiful.
27:09Cool.
27:10Oh, come on.
27:11It looks cool.
27:12Work your hips.
27:13Like, really work.
27:15I swear you got to hold yourself up right away.
27:17I realized that, yeah, I want it.
27:18Bottom line, I went through this whole thing, so yeah, I do really want it.
27:23Designers, models, this is it.
27:40Follow me.
27:41To be this close, then not get it?
27:44God, that would suck.
27:47Coming up on Project Runway.
27:48I consider this safe and boring.
27:51I was hoping to see something that was different.
27:55Do you know what I mean?
27:57That's what this is all about.
27:58Are you curious to see more?
28:06Hello.
28:08Welcome.
28:10So this is it.
28:12We started with 16 designers, and now there's only four of you left.
28:17Santino, Cara, Daniel, and Chloe.
28:22I want to congratulate all of you guys for making it this far.
28:26But as you know, only three will make it to Olympus Fashion Week, and one of you must go.
28:31Your challenge was to design an evening gown that represents the collection that you want to show at Fashion Week.
28:40All of you believe you have what it takes, and tonight we will find out if that's the case.
28:46Okay, let's meet the judges.
28:50The fabulous Michael Kors, king of jet-set American style.
28:54Hi, Michael.
28:55Nina Garcia, fashion director of Elle Magazine.
28:58And fashion industry icon Iman, author of The Beauty of Color.
29:03Iman has agreed to wear the winning dress to red carpet events.
29:09We will be scoring your designs as I come down the runway.
29:12One of you will be named the winner, and one of you will be out.
29:18Let's start the show.
29:20When I saw Eden come down the runway, I thought she looked very beautiful.
29:32It would be amazing to see me in the final three.
29:35I thought it looked so different from everyone else's that they couldn't deny me one of the spots in the final three.
30:05I thought my gown on Grace looks pretty good, but again I saw all the little puckering and the sewing side as good as it used to be.
30:19I wasn't confident.
30:36When Rebecca came down the runway, I thought she looked amazing.
30:39She looked gorgeous.
30:40The dress flowed as if it was one piece.
30:43I was proud of myself.
31:05We scored your designs.
31:08We will ask you some questions.
31:11Three of you will move on to Olympus Fashion Week, and one of you will be out.
31:16Let's bring out your models.
31:27Alright, we're going to start with Cara.
31:29First, and this is just me, I would steam it.
31:33So that was very distracting to me.
31:35The other thing is that it feels like you ran out of fabric.
31:38The length, you know, it's like skimpy.
31:40I thought the same thing.
31:42It's too skimpy.
31:44From where I am, I can see there's a few threads hanging from that hem.
31:49That hem is not even.
31:51You lost the elegance.
31:53Did you make the dress you're wearing?
31:55Yes.
31:56It's a hell of a lot more interesting than that.
31:58It's got energy and attitude.
32:01Well, I love to create my own posts.
32:04So what haven't we seen them?
32:06I really wanted to show you my blank canvas.
32:09What would make me think that you're not going to have a boring show come your fashion week?
32:15I would just trust me to really show you it's just like, bam, you'd be like, bam.
32:22But here was your opportunity.
32:24This was it.
32:26Daniel.
32:28What was your inspiration?
32:30To kind of encompass everything that I am as a designer.
32:34Very clean, sophisticated.
32:36I was hoping to see something that was different.
32:39Do you know what I mean?
32:40I don't have a problem creating a beautiful dress.
32:43That I can do that with my eyes closed.
32:45It's creating that one thing that makes you say, wow.
32:49It is beautifully made, yes.
32:52But how do I know that when you present in New York Fashion Week, it won't be boring?
32:59Do you consider this boring?
33:00I consider this safe and boring.
33:04Monsieur Santino, what were you thinking when you designed this?
33:09I made up a little story about a very talented, brilliant designer who is taken hostage to only produce beautiful gowns for a very young, talented, ambitious...
33:23Diva.
33:25Diva, yeah.
33:26Out of all these, this is definitely the most editorial.
33:31However, creativity is fantastic.
33:34But there is a point where it becomes a joke.
33:38It needs to be elegant.
33:40If it looks elegant and it has a craziness to it, it still is wearable because it's elegant.
33:47Listen, I understand the bad boy thing.
33:50I got it.
33:51But it's almost like you're saying to us, I'm smarter than all of you.
33:57I know you're all going to say there's too much shit all over this dress.
34:01But I'm going to do it anyway and prove my point.
34:06Chloe, tell us a little bit about your design.
34:09My feel was 1940s ladylike, but modernize it a little bit.
34:13So your inspiration was 1940s?
34:15Yeah, but more modern, yeah.
34:17I love the old, like...
34:18Hollywood glamour, so to speak.
34:19Yeah, but sleek, because I'm petite, so kind of like sleek lines.
34:23You had a little problem with the sewing on this.
34:26It's a little puckery.
34:28It's a little less meticulous than usual for you.
34:31I think those darts look very dressmaker-y.
34:35You're about wearability.
34:37But that still doesn't give me the handle on what is the Chloe statement.
34:47Definitive point of view helps.
34:50And that's what makes one designer different than another.
34:53Gotta tell you, it's a little underwhelming.
34:55What I want to know from you, Chloe, is if you deserve to go to Olympus Fashion Week, who doesn't?
35:09Santino, I think he's a genius.
35:11He doesn't seem to sew as well.
35:13Just construction-wise, I just don't think it's up to par.
35:18Santino.
35:19I would say that Daniel and Cara are both very creative people.
35:27I'm not wowed by people who are basically, like, maybe brilliant pattern makers, but not necessarily brilliant designers.
35:35I would take Cara and Daniel.
35:38Daniel.
35:39I know that Chloe has an established business.
35:44I just think that to use Fashion Week as a catalyst would be a bit more beneficial for us.
35:51I guess that's the only reason why I would say Chloe.
35:54Cara.
35:56There's two very classical designers to my right.
36:00And there's one very extravagant man to my left.
36:03I'd say take Santino with me.
36:05I'd take Daniel.
36:07So Chloe's the one you choose to be out.
36:12What do you think about that, Chloe?
36:15How much do you want to be one of the three designers to go to Olympus Fashion Week?
36:20If I didn't want it, I wouldn't be here.
36:23It was agony.
36:25There was so much to do, so much work, and no sleep.
36:28I do want it.
36:29Badly.
36:30Otherwise, I wouldn't be here.
36:32All right, we heard what you had to say.
36:33We're going to have a little chat, and I'm going to call you back onto the runway.
36:46On the runway, when everyone was picking me to go home, I felt backstabbed.
36:50I'll be honest, it hurts, especially coming from Cara and Daniel V.
36:53Now, we are, as you always say, a little bit underwhelmed, no?
36:58Yeah.
36:59For the final outfit, it was a bit boring.
37:02When you ask them, here's your moment to shine.
37:04This is the end.
37:06And the dresses turned out to be what I call sort of templates.
37:10You know what I mean? You'd have to add two or fix them.
37:13I agree, because that's exactly how I felt.
37:16How about Chloe?
37:17The butt didn't fit at all.
37:18That's why she turned around really quickly.
37:20It was very loose.
37:21Who am I who said that?
37:22Chloe could have done a better job with the fabric.
37:25She had a hard time sewing this one today.
37:27As beautiful as it was, say Carolina Herrera.
37:30I don't think she's necessarily stepping outside of the box.
37:37Then we have Santino, who always has one of the biggest point of views.
37:41Oh, it's definitely not boring.
37:42I mean, this is like an explosion in a sequin factory.
37:45Belly dancer gone wild.
37:47It was at least the most fun to watch when it came out.
37:49Oh, he turns the volume up.
37:50Absolutely.
37:51It's very editorial.
37:52It would be a beautiful cover.
37:54There are times that I would choose a designer that has really such a great dress that might not be completely me,
38:00but that I think that that's in me.
38:04There's real talent there.
38:05It just has to be corralled but not crushed.
38:08Kara.
38:10Kara always has lots of explanations, but then somehow the garment is just never quite right.
38:21They're not memorable.
38:22Except for the mistakes.
38:23She described herself as, you know, she does textile design.
38:27Well, I never got that.
38:28Printing color.
38:29We haven't seen anything printed.
38:30We haven't seen anything.
38:31I don't know.
38:32Why wouldn't I have noticed?
38:34Is this a hidden poochie?
38:35I had no idea.
38:36I've got a tension headache from hell.
38:39Daniel.
38:40It's very simple.
38:41Uh-huh.
38:42But it's a beautiful color navy.
38:43For a simple dress, it was made well, fit well.
38:48But it's the idea of feeling that the whole outfit is really say something.
38:52That they should have a point of view and not be scared of having a point of view.
38:56It didn't tell me a lot about him as a designer.
38:59Right.
39:00All right.
39:01Let's bring back the designers.
39:02There are four designers on the runway.
39:15Three of you will make it to Olympus Fashion Week.
39:19And one of you will be out.
39:20There are four designers on the runway.
39:34Three of you will make it to Olympus Fashion Week.
39:38And one of you will be out.
39:39Santino.
39:40Yes, ma'am.
39:41You showed us that you have a point of view.
39:42Congratulations.
39:43You are going to Olympus Fashion Week.
39:45You can leave the runway.
39:51And now for the winner of this challenge.
40:00And now for the winner of this challenge.
40:18It was a very difficult decision to make.
40:25But Daniel, you're the winner.
40:28Thank you so much.
40:29You did create a beautiful silhouette.
40:32Classical.
40:33Simple.
40:34Borderline boring.
40:37But I'm not boring.
40:39So I will showcase it in a red carpet.
40:42Excellent.
40:43Thank you so much.
40:44Congratulations, Daniel.
40:45You're making me very proud.
40:46Thank you so much.
40:47This challenge and this whole thing has been about me and accomplishing my goals and my dreams.
40:59I won the challenge.
41:00You won the dress challenge.
41:01Oh, nice.
41:02Iman wearing my dress will be an amazing experience.
41:06It felt great to win.
41:08There are two of you left.
41:11One of you will go to Fashion Week.
41:14And one of you will be out.
41:17Kara, in this last challenge, you were supposed to show us in one outfit who you are as a designer.
41:31You told us about color, about prints.
41:36And what we find is a black dress that is poorly made.
41:44Chloe.
41:45Chloe, in this challenge, it was your chance to dazzle us.
41:51We question if you have the passion to be the next great American designer.
41:59Kara.
42:00I'm sorry.
42:01You're out.
42:02That means, Chloe, you're in.
42:03Wow.
42:05That means you are going to Fashion Week.
42:06Congratulations.
42:07You can leave the runway.
42:08Thank you so much.
42:09I have the passion.
42:10Congratulations, baby.
42:11Kara.
42:12It's been incredible, so...
42:14Auf Wiedersehen.
42:15I'm sorry.
42:16I'm sorry, you're out.
42:17That means, Chloe, you're in.
42:18Wow.
42:20That means you are going to Fashion Week.
42:21Congratulations.
42:22You can leave the runway.
42:23Thank you so much.
42:24I have the passion.
42:25Congratulations, baby.
42:26Kara.
42:27it's been incredible, so...
42:29Auf Wiedersehen.
42:31Thank you all.
42:32Careful.
42:33Careful.
42:34Listen, I have a smile.
42:35You are all winners.
42:36You are.
42:37You are.
42:38Incredible job.
42:39Thank you, thank you all.
42:59I think I played it a little too safe, you know, maybe that's the demise but I won't play it safe anymore, I'll tell you that much.
43:08So Cara, we have to send you up to the workroom.
43:10Just to knock them out, I'm going to be a swear friend, Roy.
43:13Okay.
43:14We'll do our best, baby.
43:15Thank you, Tim.
43:16We love you.
43:17Fashion means so much to me, it's like my heartbeat next to my heart.
43:22Naturally, I would have loved to have been at Olympus Fashion Week, but I plan to pursue my business with whole hearts, like I always have.
43:31Hello, welcome to the Elle Closet.
43:38Hi, Dad.
43:39Hello, how are you?
43:40It was good to see him on again.
43:42Thank goodness the dress fit perfectly.
43:44It was just literally like finessing.
43:46I didn't even have to touch the dress.
43:48For a designer to have their dress on any red carpet I think is an accomplishment.
43:53It's a good feeling.
43:56Next week on a special episode of Project Runway.
43:59I didn't come on Project Runway to make friends.
44:03We are accountable for what we say.
44:05Okay, I don't want to talk about it.
44:06I'm done with it.
44:07I've run some business here.
44:08We all talk about each other.
44:10I think there's things that are really hurtful.
44:12Whatever.
44:14Don't call me disloyal.
44:15Don't say anything.
44:16I felt like somebody had punched my stomach.
44:19This is the biggest bunch of bull I think I've heard in weeks.
44:21Wow.
44:22Oh, dear.
44:24Where the hell is my Javon?
44:27Visit BravoTV.com to learn more about the fashions you've seen on today's show.
44:57See you then.
44:59See you.
45:00Yeah.
45:01See you then.
45:06Bye.
