00:01Previously on Project Runway.
00:03For your next challenge, you will be designing an outfit
00:05for a hip international jet setter.
00:09You will be designing this outfit for yourself.
00:14I don't know anybody who's an international jet setter.
00:17To me, that's just really foreign.
00:23One of you will be out, but not tonight.
00:28Oh, we're going to Paris!
00:33Dreams coming true right now.
00:36Catherine Malandrino, our host judge for this trip.
00:40Wow.
00:41Geoffrey, you are the winner.
00:46Cain, you look ridiculous, but Angela, you are out.
00:53Au revoir, Angela.
00:54The winner of Project Runway will receive a spread
00:56in Elle Magazine, a mentorship with Ink International Concepts Design,
01:00a 2007 Saturn Sky Roadster, and $100,000 to start their own line.
01:05Furnished by Tresemme Professional Hair Care.
01:09This is Project Runway.
01:11Fashion is my life.
01:12I'm going to win.
01:13Fifteen contestants.
01:14I'm fabulously glamorous.
01:16You have mad skills.
01:18But only one can be the winner.
01:20And better than they are.
01:21You've got to be kidding me.
01:23For these fifteen contestants, Project Runway is the chance of a lifetime.
01:27Designers, may we ask you to gather round, please?
01:40Congratulations, Geoffrey.
01:41You have immunity for the next challenge, and that means you cannot be eliminated.
01:45Are you ready for your next challenge?
01:47Yes.
01:48Catherine?
01:49You are in Paris, capital of fashion, capital of couture.
01:53You have to make the couture gown.
01:55Oof.
01:56That's you.
01:58Couture is a term that we use frequently to talk about garments that are handmade.
02:03But the only designers who can call themselves couture designers are those who are licensed by the government of France.
02:09It can take hundreds of hours for six to eight people to create a single elaborate gown.
02:15For this challenge, we expect you to employ couture techniques in the execution of this look.
02:21That means hand-sewn hems and embroideries or beading that are created by you by hand.
02:28There's one more thing.
02:30Catherine?
02:31You will have only two days.
02:35People just didn't know how we were going to achieve this.
02:39I mean, a couture gown in, what, 20 hours?
02:42I will throw a party Sunday night.
02:46You can present all the fabulous gowns that we're expecting to see.
02:50So, Catherine, thank you so very much.
02:52And we will see you in a few days.
02:54Thank you. Au revoir. See you very soon. Bye-bye.
02:57So, designers, we have had a long journey.
03:00It's time to settle into the hotel, after which I'm taking us all to dinner.
03:04Okay?
03:08You are in Paris.
03:10I'm in Paris!
03:11I'm in a room with Jeff, Vincent, and Michael on the top floor.
03:16And it is absolutely incredible.
03:20Wow.
03:21Yeah.
03:22We were all still getting used to the idea that we were actually in Paris.
03:25Really?
03:26For me, it was really nice being back in Europe, because it's just so nice to be back home.
03:31I'm really excited to be in Paris, but I'm ecstatic that Angela's gone.
03:36Oh, this is nice.
03:37Hi, Tim.
03:38It's very French.
03:39How thrilling.
03:40Do you feel it all revived?
03:42Revived, no, but refreshed, yes.
03:44It's good enough.
03:45I definitely got inspired walking the streets of Paris.
03:48It opened my eyes in a whole new way.
03:51This is incredible.
03:52Yeah!
03:53We walked through the courtyard of the Louvre and saw the pyramid, which is amazing, and
03:58walked to a great French restaurant.
04:00Here we are.
04:01It was sort of our first relaxing dinner together instead of grabbing a quick bite to eat between
04:11challenges.
04:12Here's to a successful trip and a successful challenge.
04:14Cheers!
04:15And to Jeffrey's first win.
04:17Cheers!
04:18Cheers!
04:19At this level of competition, there's always a lot at stake.
04:30It can be sent home when you least expect it, because everyone left is the best talent
04:35from the group.
04:36Good morning, everybody.
04:37Oh, hi, Tim.
04:38You're sketching?
04:39Oh, yeah.
04:40Excellent.
04:41Well, come with me.
04:42We're going to have more sketch time, and we're going to go shopping.
04:45The metro system here is so good.
04:47Yeah.
04:48What are you doing there?
04:49You play music here?
04:50I'm a designer.
04:51Design.
04:52Clothes.
04:53Clothes.
04:54Clothes.
04:55Clothes.
04:56Clothes.
04:57This morning, we took a beautiful walk and continue letting it go.
04:59And continue letting the inspiration of the city flow through us, which was really, really
05:04nice.
05:05So, everybody, we're here at Saclay Coeur.
05:06We're at the very top of Paris.
05:08Look around.
05:09Have a good time.
05:10You will have a half hour to sketch.
05:12And we'll meet back here in a little bit.
05:14Okay?
05:15I didn't want to be edgy or avant-garde just because I've never done this type of work before.
05:25I trained in couture dressmaking.
05:28It just turns me on.
05:30For me to be doing a couture gown in Paris, it's the definite dream come true.
05:34dream come true this is lace on possibly beaded lace and then a chiffon bottom
05:43this is couture let's go shopping designers we are at rain you have an hour
05:50to shop and you have a budget of 300 euros which is 375 US dollars but
05:56remember out couture fabrics are expensive so use your budget wisely let's
06:01go to go shopping the French fabric store it's a little spooky because we've
06:07kind of started to get comfortable in New York with mood so today it's like
06:10starting over from scratch I wanted to stick with something I know and then go
06:15with something I can add on to make it more couture and actually get it done oh
06:21yes so good she knows what I like yeah it's unexpected and we told you take
06:30risks yeah my overall concept with this gown is happy joyous and free and my
06:36inspiration is the Statue of Liberty my objective is to be the first designer on
06:42Project Runway to win a challenge with immunity because that hasn't happened yet
06:46time's up
06:47so you have your model card on your table yeah remember that you will be refitting in
06:58New York on your model there you have until midnight tonight deep we a boo figure that out
07:06the new challenge was to design put your dress in two days we didn't have much time to figure out
07:16what we're going to do so it just went straight to my fabric and start draping and I didn't use any
07:22crazy prints and any crazy colors I got pretty plain and simple and that's quite something
07:28my basic concept is to take the sort of prim and proper idea of a black dress with a white collar
07:37and cuffs sort of a very French sort of Belle du Jour classic dress and just trying to really vamp it up
07:43it's gonna be really nice and curvy and shaped at the bottom I'm gonna have a lot of hands on to do so
07:50I tried to keep the base of my dress really really simple and to do details on top of it
07:56I'm gonna love this dress when it's done and it's a dress that I would do for one of my favorite
08:09pageant girls but that's what's gonna get you in trouble Kane no no it's not gonna be pageant it's
08:13going to be very to wear esque Kane definitely has some Vegas tendencies going on he has this
08:20gold mesh bodice that he's working on it's just starting off right away looking like a pageant
08:25dress again sort of the cut the detail are just real prom gown looking not couture at all it's
08:32gonna be fun it's gonna be a miracle if I make this fit the way I envisioned it in my head
08:36the pattern will look couture the pattern will fall beautifully the pattern will look like it's a
08:48stunning fit that's how I can show my level for couture Vincent is like a legend in his own mind
08:56he spends a lot of time working on his pattern on the mannequin stepping back admiring his work
09:03asking us other designers over for what he calls an opinion but it's really he's just wants us to
09:09come admire his work you like it too I love it honestly don't just hold Matt reverse Matt reverse
09:14thank you so much you have that nice kind of scalp thing going can you really pull that off
09:19mm-hmm never done it before a damn short try
09:23okay guys let's go home I'm not ready to go now
09:33you see me sleeping here what's wrong with you
09:48everybody so how's Michael oh coming slowly slowly um I've never done anything with this much detail
10:14before so I really try to keep my shape simple and all my details gonna be here worried about
10:19the time um yeah I am so let me ask this question about the basic dress right now is it done yes okay
10:30so you really can commit to working on the collar absolutely how far are you taking it well it's my
10:37one shot meaning it's all I have to offer I just think it's got to be exuberant it's all about that
10:45and the dress almost goes away right how's Kane good how are you sir how are you taking this piece in
10:55so far I want to say this to you in the spirit of somebody who wants you only to succeed this is not
11:01working for me seeing all this boning underneath it's not pretty it worries me Tim absolutely hates
11:10my dress but I'm in love with this dress I think this dress is gorgeous I hope that once it's finished
11:16him will understand the beauty of this gown and I'll get to breathe my life into it coming up on the
11:22project I think for Kane is going to have his head handed to him on a ridiculous plate tomorrow you
11:28think so who cares if he gets hurt you know to do a couture gown is something that only like a few
11:39people in the world are even allowed to do by the French government that's like saying okay you have
11:47two days make an atom bomb yeah I think poor Kane is gonna have his head handed to him on a ridiculous
11:56plate tomorrow you think so yeah I really like him and I feel bad and I just I just don't want to see
12:01him get hurt that's all who cares if he gets hurt no one's gonna buy that unless it's Halloween Tim hates
12:08my dress he is really really scared about the corset top but our time is limited so I'm just gonna have
12:14to do what I can do I need to make my work look like it had that couture thing going on and the
12:23collar was where that was gonna happen Laura made a creature the black lagoon dress yeah no did you see
12:30that in college it's not right it's just a dress it's horrible I think it's just gonna be boring
12:36Laura is confused about what a couture gown is Laura only has one thing that she knows how to do
12:43that's kind of funk to it it's kind of fun to Michael's is not complete at all it's it's rather
12:57poorly made and uh it's very visible unfortunately and uh he might have a rough time hide the thread
13:05you don't see it I gotta go work I'm creating these scallop shapes by ruching it and the whole
13:11bodice of the dress front and back is going to be pretty much hand stitched in that's something new
13:16for me so um I'm getting a little nervous a lot of work yeah I think that's what Milan was trying to do
13:26I take that as a compliment I think yeah I'm under the gun here did I just see a clock somewhere I'm
13:34gonna work and hopefully get it done in time sometimes you gotta take a risk how about I
13:39couture your face but I felt pretty good because I knew what I wanted you can actually tell that it's
13:50an oldie dress but it's a step up and it's a couture gown in my opinion I'm the only person doing a
13:55couture gown by the way 85% of my my gown is handmade I think it has to look handmade it doesn't
14:01have to be handmade you're only saying that because you haven't done anything handmade I haven't done
14:05anything handmade you haven't handmade I've spent all friggin day making this collar by hand I've got
14:12no glue on this garment not yet finish for this evening tomorrow we're going to be presenting our
14:27gallons to Catherine Melendrina and we're so exhausted from our work during the day I've never
14:33been this delirious it's harder on me than the other designers I don't just have me to take care of I
14:39have been a pregnancy to look after my feet have been swollen since I got here my ankles are just
14:45gone I'm three months pregnant now guys I'm gonna go and lay down have fun have a drink for me Tim
14:54really didn't like the dress I'm not recutting a new top I love this dress I'm gonna go to bed now
15:09we are just getting ready for the party and celebration for our couture gowns I think the
15:25mood amongst the group is very serious and very focused on exactly what we have to do to get the
15:32job done all together now I wonder what Catherine's expecting to see Vincent's dress is not done and the
15:52fabric choice for the skirt part I think looks a little bit like a sofa okay time to go to work
15:59I'm trying to hurry up and sew the bodice together so it can be ready for the soiree with Catherine
16:07Melendrina I've never hand sewn anything and I'm not completely comfortable but I'm just trying to make
16:14sure that it looks like a tour hi everybody you have two and a half hours to fit your models do their hair
16:23and makeup and to prep them for the party I can't say I can't say so I'm setting them in here they are
16:33nice tall pale I think it's gonna look really great in the color I've chose for my dress
16:46turn turn turn and stay of course Tim hi Tim what are you doing hitting a hem and do you have time to
16:58hand sew that hem yes of course you do I have to yes of course it's a lot of work yet to do make it
17:03work something's not right I should be finished like in five minutes my model I'm Odin is definitely
17:13smaller than what I expected I'm gonna have to take it in four sizes I have a lot of work to do so I'm
17:20stressed about that it's gonna be hot because it's long sleeve yeah but it's really nice yeah love it love
17:29it love it love it okay does it feel good gorgeous sister gorgeous all these little things I use glue
17:40this will go on you don't worry
17:43Vincent yes Tim are you gluing why I have no time and I wanted this final treatment and I have to
17:56glue it Tim how'd you do the hem I did the hem with glue I'm just looking at my clock now and I
18:02want to get this on there well it's just a shame that you had the glue yeah you're right the gluing
18:06discount hold the rest yeah well what are you gonna keep gluing the hell out of it thank you
18:11Tim you know I don't have the time to make a couture garment here it's impossible if you can step in
18:17with the makeup all right you've got to get them into these garments now five minutes and we are
18:23leaving and I'm really serious this is like a plane taking off we don't know where we're going we don't
18:28know what's gonna happen when we get there we don't know anything all we know is we're going to a
18:33party where we're going to be presenting these gowns to Catherine Melendrino
18:37the dress is poorly put together once you carry it like it's the most beautiful dress you've ever
18:48seen okay so fake it all right everybody let's go Vincent I mean it we're getting out of here right
18:55now all right coming up on Project Runway here's our destination
19:01Tim told us that we were going to a mystery location to meet Catherine for our party and
19:14we weren't really sure where we were going
19:15here's our destination
19:19everyone then realized oh whoa it's going to be on a boat on the scene which is oh beautiful
19:27you know with these girls in our gowns what else more could you ask for
19:31my gown is like right now not only did I have to refit on top of that somebody was throwing eggs and
19:48the eggs splattered all over my gown of course they would be me today where's the champagne
20:05Catherine I'm extremely proud to bring you our designers and their models wearing the designers
20:19work you know making a couture gown in two days it's an extremely difficult challenge but the first
20:27view of all of you with a gown is just absolutely magnificent shall we have a toast oh yes absolutely
20:34let's let's celebrate tonight wonderful
20:36Catherine I want to offer a toast to you and to our designers thank you to the success of this
20:46challenge to your success to all of you cheers okay we we bonjour I am in Paris all of my gorgeous
20:55designer friends and we are having fun with Catherine Maladrino on this beautiful boat what's
21:01mean this tattoo you know I tried to read and it was quite difficult because this is really forever
21:11yeah what was inspiration behind this dress the Statue of Liberty was my initial inspiration can you tell
21:18that we see the back of it it's quite interesting to bear with the evening gown that in a cotton I know I
21:24think it's very audacious thank you so much so proud of the dress I feel it's quite interesting for an
21:31evening dress to cover the arm I'm always cold can I hear about your dress I wanted to do a very
21:37constructed corset and I could adjust the size in the back you know you have been very brave to less up on
21:43the back and it fit up perfectly you know to achieve this is very difficult Catherine Maladrino
21:48totally gave me great great great compliments on the gown so I felt like I'd possibly redeem myself and
21:54of course the culture gown is all about the detail to come close and to appreciate the detail then how
22:00did you make the construction here I did the Russian um just really molded it it is up under that dress
22:08if you took a look it's horrible no she wears it well there's something about the 80s in this dress coming
22:13from the shoulder there's a long time I haven't seen an evening dress with shoulder pads what was
22:18your inspiration inspiration I I don't know but I I like you very much very very much you are one of
22:25the most sensational women I've ever laid my eyes on I mean everything about you your hair I watch I
22:31look your your persona you are impeccable right thank you I really have these your shoes no they are
22:38not let me ask you a question this dress to you do you think it's too much throwback or do you think
22:43it's modern be honest can you turn it's an interesting dress okay I just want to make sure to see this
22:54dress in movement and I would love to have a walk okay I have score cards for Catherine these will
23:00return to New York with us and Catherine scores will be joined with these scores of the other judges in
23:05New York so this is an important presentation
23:07so
23:10so
23:12so
23:16so
23:18Okay.
23:47Okay.
23:48Catherine has marked her scores.
23:49It was so wonderful, this show.
23:51Thank you to all of you.
23:52And I'm going to trade you.
23:54I have your scorecard, so coming back with me to New York.
23:57So everybody have a great time.
23:58Let's enjoy the rest of the evening, all right?
24:00Bravo.
24:01Bravo is right.
24:05It was really, really nice to be in Paris after a long, hard day's work.
24:09It was really sort of a dream come true.
24:14Did you like the dress?
24:15Oh, you know it's so easy, so light and effortless.
24:19Did you guys really, really work the runway?
24:22Oh my gosh.
24:23American products are different.
24:25They're good.
24:26They're very good.
24:27But you guys are superb.
24:30It's a great view.
24:32I love Paris.
24:33I don't want it to end.
24:35My last night in Paris was definitely great, but I wasn't ready to go home because I know
24:40someone else had to leave.
24:41Thank you so much.
24:44Thank you so much.
24:45Paris was absolutely beautiful, but we were all anxious to get back to the rest of this
24:49competition.
24:50It's such a lovely night.
24:51It's beautiful.
24:52It's been so much fun.
24:53It was nice to get back to Parsons, New York.
25:11Paris was great.
25:12It was beautiful there.
25:13And I enjoyed working on the gown there, but I'm excited to show it to the judges here
25:18and see who is going to move on to the next round.
25:21So designers, I'm going to be sending in your models.
25:25You will have two hours to fit them.
25:27Send them to the Trésame hair salon, to the L'Oreal Paris makeup room, and prepare them
25:32for the runway judging.
25:34And you know the drill.
25:35Make it work.
25:36Make it work.
25:37We had to make a couture gown to fit not only a model in Paris, but to fit a model here.
25:46My model in Paris actually was quite a bit smaller, like three inches in every, you know,
25:52area.
25:53So that completely changes things.
25:56Well, gee, there's only a few people left now.
26:03When Camilla came in, I tried it on her, and basically the collar has been crushed during
26:08the travel in the garment bag.
26:11So I'm working to give that collar the same life that it had in Paris.
26:19I have an hour to scrunch, so.
26:26All I know is I really want a smokey eye and a lot of mascara.
26:29All right.
26:30Lift it up for sure.
26:33It's beautiful.
26:34It's so terrific.
26:35We're ready to go.
26:36Everybody, time has come.
26:37You need to follow me.
26:39Designers, models, now.
26:41Okay, girl.
26:42You're gorgeous.
26:43Come on, let's go.
26:44Okay.
26:45Away we go, to the runway.
26:51Hello.
26:52Hi.
26:54Welcome back to the runway.
26:55Did you guys enjoy a trip to Paris?
26:57Yes.
26:58Yes.
26:59Awesome.
27:01Yes.
27:02Okay, back to business.
27:03As you know in fashion, one day you're in, and the next day you're out.
27:08There are six of you now, and after tonight, there will be five.
27:13Your challenge was to design a couture gown.
27:16We asked you to take chances creatively, and pay special attention to hand sewing, construction,
27:22and detail.
27:23We gave you 300 euro, that's 375 American dollars, and two days to put it together.
27:30Catherine Malendrino threw you a party, and got to score your designs already.
27:37And now it's our turn, so let's meet the judges.
27:40First we have top American designer, Michael Kors.
27:43Hey guys, welcome back.
27:45Hi.
27:46Nina Garcia, fashion director of Elle magazine.
27:49Hello.
27:50Hello.
27:51And legendary fashion designer, Richard Tyler, who most recently designed the Delta Flight
27:56uniforms.
27:57Hi there.
27:58Okay.
27:59I've told you from the beginning that there are benefits to winning, that will be revealed
28:04in a later challenge.
28:05So I hope that you've done your best work.
28:08We'll score your designs as they come down the runway.
28:11One of you will be named the winner, and one of you will be out.
28:17Let's start the show.
28:28I absolutely loved seeing my gown walk down the runway, silk chiffon and great back satin.
28:33It's just gorgeous.
28:36It was so beautiful the way the skirt flowed and moved.
28:40It just kind of filled up the whole state.
28:55My dress depends on the collar.
28:58That was the one place that I was making the dramatic statement.
29:02But my collar is definitely not as vibrant as it was in Paris.
29:19When my couture gown came down the runway, I really liked it.
29:22I liked the color and really liked how it was moving.
29:25I think it did look better in Paris, but I was happy.
29:40When I saw the apartment coming down the runway, I felt amazing.
29:43You know, Marlinda's walk in my gown was worlds better than the Paris model.
29:48I loved working on the dress, I loved making it, and I really loved watching it come to life.
30:07I think when Gia walked out on the runway, it had a whole level of sophistication that none of those dresses had.
30:12The cut on the back of that dress, nobody cuts like that or does things like that.
30:18To me, it was far better than the other dresses, by far.
30:21I'm sweating like a whore in church because I really think I'm going to be in the bottom.
30:36Because, I mean, I'm real about it. My dress is not the best dress up there.
30:40There was a whole bunch of issues about the dress.
30:43But, hey, hopefully I'll have a spot in the next challenge.
30:47We have Katherine Spores from Paris, and we would like to ask all of you some questions.
31:06So let's bring out your models.
31:07Okay, I would like to start with Uli. Tell us a little bit about your gown.
31:19I wanted to create a gown which shows hand detail, and I also wanted to hide the seams,
31:26which brings it up to a much higher level than what I'm usually doing.
31:30It's nice that you can show something that is more toned down and that is one color.
31:35It's grown up. It looks elevated.
31:38I don't look at it and think that she should be wearing a flip-flop in Miami.
31:42Richard, how do you like Uli's dress?
31:44I actually love this gown. I just love the color.
31:47She looks a little bit unfinished, for me personally.
31:50But I love the cut. I think the bodice is beautiful.
31:53Did a great job.
31:55Kane.
31:56I just wanted something very constructed that you could kind of see the structure of.
32:00So I chose this non-traditional gold mesh. It's double layered. Both layers have boning.
32:06And then the final finishing hand details was just appliqueing on all of the beaded lace.
32:11And I had to cut it out and hand sew it on to the corset along with the velvet ribbons.
32:16It's very busy.
32:18You tend to just throw it all in there. The ombre and the beading and the slit.
32:24And sometimes I think you would do better by just holding back a little bit.
32:29You know how to make clothes. You understand a woman's body.
32:32I think the ombre chiffon is gorgeous.
32:35But who could even concentrate on the ombre chiffon?
32:39I think your middle name's got to be too much.
32:44Jeffrey.
32:45Yes.
32:46Tell us a little bit about your dress.
32:47As soon as I walked into the fabric store, this just jumped out at me.
32:51I love the color. And more than anything, I want people to just smile when they look at this gown.
32:56Top to bottom, it's pretty much all handmade with a needle and thread.
33:00I think out of all of these, you probably took the most creative chance. And I have to applaud that.
33:08I think, you know, everyone assumes that he's got this sort of goth, dark attitude.
33:16And here was a way for you to use color that I still think actually is very you.
33:24Could you turn around for me?
33:27It's not perfect, you know. How can you do it in two days?
33:31But you can tell by the model, she really loves wearing it. That's what it's all about.
33:38Vincent, tell us about your couture gown. What did you do by hand?
33:42So I use very expensive fabric. There's a little detail in the sleeve.
33:46And I think it's soft and feminine, and I like it.
33:51You know, I don't like the sleeve, but if you're going to do some oddball sleeve, it's got to fit.
33:56You know, took a chance.
33:59What I am confused about is the top of the dress. And I almost wish the back of the dress were the front of the dress.
34:08Can we turn it around? No, I'm serious. Sure, sure.
34:11Because I think you have a problem with the fit in the front.
34:14I understand that. Can you see that? Yeah, I knew it. I knew it in the front.
34:18Yeah, I hate that thing on the back. It just shouldn't be there. It's not couture.
34:26Michael, tell us about your dress.
34:29My dress was pretty much inspired by the architecture in Paris.
34:33All the bodices hand-roofs is my very first time ever doing any hand-rouching.
34:40The problem isn't the execution.
34:42It looks like when we loan something to a celebrity, and it comes back.
34:47That's how it comes back. That's how it comes back.
34:49You sent it out so beautiful, and it comes back, you're like, what happened?
34:53What'd she do, go through a war on this dress?
34:55And on our way to the show, some prankster decided to throw eggs out the window, and it splattered on my dress.
35:02Oh no, so it is spilled. Yeah.
35:05I don't love the neckline. Those two things look like two bunny ears.
35:09Coming out. I really hate those.
35:14Can you not just tuck them in? No, I didn't.
35:18See that? Look at that. A night and day.
35:20That's, that's, that's amazing. Just some little simple, a thing like that makes all, don't you think?
35:24Totally different. Yeah, totally.
35:26Laura. Yes.
35:28Tell us about your dress.
35:29I wanted to create a dress that was maybe a little too dramatic for the normal woman.
35:35Richard.
35:36This part really bothers me the most.
35:38Right. I tried to sort of loosen up the levels and gathered it all by hand.
35:43Well, I think you could have taken that frayed edge a little bit further by picking the, the, the layers up.
35:49Because that would just...
35:50Give it some life. Yeah, it needs some life.
35:53It looks like old Saint Laurent, or I don't know if this is what you were trying to go for.
35:57But it just doesn't feel new. It doesn't feel modern. It doesn't feel contemporary. It just feels old and done.
36:06I think if you shortened it and you gave her a feather duster, she looks like a French maid.
36:10Okay, we've heard what you had to say. We'll have a little chat and then I'm going to call you back. You can leave the runway. Thank you.
36:23Okay, so let's see what Catherine thought. She loved Ulrike's dress. She said it's light and effortless. She gave her a really high score. And you know, out of all the dresses, that's the dress that I would be wearing.
36:35And I will say this, she thought in three-dimensional terms. She did. And she did a lot of handwork.
36:44Catherine Molendrino, she gave Geoffrey a high score and she wrote Magnifique. A lot of stars, so...
36:50I think Geoffrey did a really terrific job. I thought the minute his girl hit the runway, she had energy, it was youthful.
36:58I thought it was really, really cute.
37:00To Michael, heavy draping. She did not give him a high score at all.
37:07And say, somebody threw eggs. That's not an excuse. He's not doing 50 gowns, he's doing one gown.
37:12You know, as a designer, you should be taking care of that. You should be there every second.
37:19To Kane, she said, beautiful Bastille, but old.
37:23It was tacky. Yeah, really tacky.
37:25Yeah, and we tell him that all the time.
37:27I mean, it's a question also of taste. I just think that maybe the taste level is not there.
37:36Vincent.
37:37His model, she's basically topless. The sleeve has the ace of clubs built in.
37:41What was that? I didn't understand that.
37:43And then all of a sudden, turn around and there's this thing glued in the back.
37:46Catherine Molendrino wrote, no, no, no, no.
37:50It doesn't matter if you're French, American, Colombian, Australian or German.
37:55I think it's a big no.
37:59Then what was Laura's dress?
38:01It was too obvious of an old Saint Laurent dress.
38:04And it looked old on top of it.
38:06It felt like she had the same problem as Vincent.
38:09This big block of fabric that just looked like a slab.
38:12It was just like...
38:13It's missing. It just died. It just died.
38:15You're right.
38:16Okay, so we made our decision. Let's bring them back out.
38:34One of you will be named the winner.
38:37One of you will be out.
38:39One of you will be named the winner.
38:49One of you will be out.
38:52Tonight we're going to start with the winner of this challenge.
39:00Congratulations.
39:02Jeffrey.
39:03Jeffrey, you're the winner of this challenge.
39:09We thought it was very fresh, new, hip, colorful, fashion-forward.
39:14Thank you so much.
39:15Couture.
39:16Congratulations.
39:17I appreciate that. Thank you. Thank you.
39:19Unfortunately, though, the fun is over for the winners.
39:23And you will not have immunity for the next challenge.
39:27It's going to get tough from here on now.
39:30You can leave the runway.
39:33Congratulations.
39:37When I heard that I won again, I was a little surprised.
39:42It just felt really, really good.
39:44And no matter what happens from here on out, I won two in a row, which feels amazing.
39:48Uli.
39:49You're in.
39:50You can leave the runway.
39:53Michael.
39:54You're in.
39:55You can leave the runway.
39:56Thank you all.
39:57Cain.
40:03Michael.
40:04You're in.
40:05You can leave the runway.
40:06Thank you all.
40:07Good luck, darling.
40:08Good luck, darling.
40:27Good luck.
40:28you're in. You can leave the runway. Thank you all very much.
40:43Lara, Vincent, one of you will be out.
40:51Vincent, couture is about finishing in detail. And we feel that your dress lacked both.
41:00The front looked like the back. The fit was off. We were confused.
41:07Lara, your dress looked old and predictable. We've seen it before. And done better.
41:21Lara. You're in. Thank you. Thank you.
41:38This cannot be good for the baby.
41:46Vincent, that means you're out.
41:51I had fun. I had fun with you guys.
41:56I'm a little sad for whatever reason I was judged out. All I wanted to do is get to that final runway show just to show a full collection.
42:04So, Vincent, we have to send you upstairs to clean up your space.
42:08Sure.
42:09I'm a little sad for whatever reason I was judged out. All I wanted to do is get to that final runway show just to show a full collection.
42:16So, Vincent, we have to send you upstairs to clean up your space.
42:20Sure, Tim. Thank you.
42:21Take care.
42:22I sure will. Thanks, Tim. I did cash in my 401k and quit a job to be here. So let me roll the dice. I like taking chances and I'm not sorry that I did.
42:32I'm so thankful to Project Runway. It put me in a nice place, you know. It was just such a beautiful thing. It just got me off. I loved it.
42:40Next on Project Runway. Before I tell you about your next challenge, I want to introduce our special guests. And there are two of them.
42:51What the hell is going on?
42:56I can't exhaust myself trying to design for the Olsen twins. I have to just be happy with what I send out.
43:02I wanted to make a big career change, but now it's getting exhausting.
43:08I don't like this. I think the proportion is wrong.
43:11The material doesn't look sophisticated to me or sexy.
43:15It looks a little cheap to me.
