09:27i was on that team so i can say for certain that her team members carried a hell of a lot of weight
09:37in that challenge for her everybody's going to be thinking that because i know that people like
09:41jeffrey don't like me people will be thinking that here you go to parsons let's go
09:50good morning designers good morning may i ask you to gather around please
09:55i want to welcome back angela and vincent we want to ensure that the right three people
10:02are those who are standing for the final three so you're just going to have to each prove
10:07how capable you are of going to olympus fashion week okay for this challenge you will be designing
10:14a cocktail party outfit using black and white fabric because you're each using the same color palette
10:20this challenge is really about the design and silhouette of your look this challenge is also
10:24about the makeup and styling of your model you will have 15 minutes to sketch you have a budget of
10:30one hundred dollars and you have one day to pull this together angela do we have to use black and
10:35white or can we choose one of the other you have to use black and white all right i'll be back in 15
10:41minutes thank you my design for this challenge is going to be a very edited cocktail dress very
10:52simple in the front and then crazy sexy in the back i was trying to come up with sort of a youthful
10:57silhouette so i did sort of a baby doll dress with a low square neckline i'm definitely not feeling as sure
11:05as i have in the past that i can get to the final three i'm definitely starting to doubt myself
11:11a little more now okay designers are you ready before we leave there is one other criterion to this
11:19challenge the fabric that you purchase at mood you must use all of it right before we went shopping and he
11:26said to us that we have to use every piece of fabric we buy which is insane all of it let's go into
11:32this look you mean even the scraps mm-hmm it's going to be crucial that we not buy an extra inch
11:42of fabric because that's just going to be more fabric that somehow you have to work into the design
11:47what the coming up on project runway probably more than anyone never ever wanted to see angela
11:56again the more that things progress the more you see the true nature of people it's getting a little
12:01too ugly you know what let's just keep this i think i love this we have to make a cocktail outfit
12:14and we could only use black or white fabric let's just say 30 and i'll eat the rest we have to use
12:22all of our fabric for the challenge and it's a little bit stressful to hear that because we want to buy a
12:27little extra in case we make any mistakes make sure we don't run out of fabric and just was going to
12:32mean that we had to be really smart about how much fabric we were buying damn i don't want to get any extra fabric
12:38yeah and a yard of this do this first i looked at all the sketches and i picked the fabric and
12:44figured in between there and coming back that i would come up with something that i could put together
12:48how wide is this i need to change this to ivory i found a crate print i'm gonna do a hippie beach
12:58party cocktail dress okay everybody let's go

13:12heidi said it was going to get hard and boy was she not kidding because he allowed two heifers to
13:16come back three designers will go home it was a simple um cocktail dress off the shoulder asymmetrical
13:24deal with a cummerbund belt to it a matte jersey because it's easy to work with and i know i can
13:29make a great dress out of it i'm doing a leather shrug with an edwardian collar lined in off-white
13:37charmeuse i think that i'm taking some risks that are admirable but i'm still retaining my fingerprint
13:46i had this idea for a dress it was a longer dress
13:49um so i turned i turned it into a mini to make it hot and sexy you know for a little cocktail party
13:57i want to have a third win just to be able to say i've got a third win and also because i know
14:01that my winning the last challenge pissed everybody off
14:08why'd this guy give me more than a yard of this how much did they give you a yard and a half oh oh my god
14:15that's not cool uh when i got back in i realized i overbought fabric and i'm like oh great there's
14:20no way no way i can eat this up it's not right it's not good wow i'm screwed on this one so it kind of
14:31bummed me big i hope i can get it together come up with something else to do with that excessive fabric
14:36but we're gonna have to wait and see

14:53probably more than anyone never ever ever ever ever ever ever wanted to see angel again
15:00the more that things progress the more you see the true nature of people yeah and it's it's it's
15:12getting a little too ugly uh for my taste but you don't feel like we're treating you badly because
15:18you're back do you i mean um i i feel like people i'm seeing people's colors as the thing goes on and
15:23i'm not liking what i'm seeing but i only have one more of these if i stay another one and that's fine
15:28the mood in the worst space today is kind of sticky i just gotta uh do my thing i want to get to the
15:34end because uh my heart is into this what what's going on very scared for me wow what part um because
15:49it's all black and it's many and the back is out and then you add a black pattern of the boot
15:56it's starting to look like something else when i started looking at kane's garment it just started
16:02to look a little like a working girl and i didn't even have to say that's what it looked like he just
16:08knew what i meant actually if you take that belt off and all this this looks really designer and clean
16:15just look at this for a second and tell me you're honest opinion it it cheapens your dress i'm really
16:21trying to just make sure that he's not going overboard okay i got it under control you got it no
16:32designers can i have your attention for just a moment please you are going to have half an hour
16:36with your models for a preliminary fitting and i'm going to be sending the models in right away
16:42um put your hand on your waist like that it'll be flowy and loose on the body this is for the whole
16:51dress i call it more of a shrug because it's backless it goes up like that thoughts can come off
16:58i'm like exhausted i thought i'd gotten to a certain point in the competition and then they brought
17:02people back yeah how can it be younger right like that i don't know how my model seemed a little unsure
17:16about what i was doing i think she was as shocked as i was you know to get slammed on the runway during
17:21the couture challenge and she was trying to be helpful about designing a more youthful look
17:28like lace on black would be younger i know but we had white i know i know i had to use the white
17:38i'm just gonna um do what i do best from here on out and see how far that gets me i have no idea how
17:44it's going to be received by the judges i'm worried about what's going to happen tomorrow coming up on
17:49project runway all right here's my question where's the white fabric does this count as a fabric oh jesus

18:03i am delighted to welcome collier strong consulting makeup artist for l'oreal paris collier is here to
18:08talk about your makeup and styling for this challenge collier so as you know since it's a black and white
18:15challenge the only use of color can be on the skin and with the makeup we can really create the perfect
18:22uh accessory for the look that you're designing be thinking about it and then i'll meet with you so
18:26we can um kind of brainstorm and come up with a great look and we're going to begin with jeffrey all
18:32right smoky and dramatic okay all right make her face um kind of luminescent and then you just have
18:40these dark eyes that are just really sexy i kind of love this beautiful look at that look exactly yeah
18:46because it's a baby doll shaped dress create like this graphic shape coming from underneath the eye
18:51instead of on top of it i like it what we could do is actually line her eyes with a color instead of
18:58with black so modern so hip so hip what about doing um the smoky eye and a dark purple as opposed to
19:06i'm all about it black very kind of 70s beachy yes because the whole feeling of the dress will be kind
19:13of 70s the first thing that came to my mind is like this chinese opera which is like a you know
19:18like a little lip right there you nailed it okay i'm very happy all right bye
19:25so uli how are you i'm good this is beautiful i love your frog here you have a lot of fabric though
19:31what are you thinking put it all together and make like little balls i make like a necklace yes just
19:37don't have it be a distraction from the dress scale's really important here so how's vincent i work way
19:42too much shortage what ideas do you have well maybe a show might be just too simple well maybe
19:48but you have to use that fabric and the coin is sticking i know so how are you doing really good
19:54okay this is the dress and i'm making some tights out of this it looks kind of like leather just sort
20:01of rock and roll shiny does it dress it down hmm so how's kane good how are you sir i'm good
20:10all right here's my question where's the white where's the white fabric does this count as a
20:14fabric oh jesus they call it a trim but if it's all that you have it's make it work time from where
20:22i stand you didn't address the white okay okay banking on jesus at this point all right how's michael
20:29i'm doing well just trying to give it a 3d effect how are you treating this edge i don't know i guess i
20:34could turn it over or something because it looks unfinished okay i'm looking at how
20:41translucent it is what are you doing about that issue um make it work okay okay all right great thanks
20:49angela this fits my model perfectly she's smaller than this all right the dress i have cut out the
20:56sides i was going to put in um ruching with elastic given the amount of time we have for this challenge
21:01this is really ambitious just for the moment only do what you have to do how are you doing um a little
21:11bit of a broken spirit after the last challenge you know i can't exhaust myself trying to design for
21:19the olsen twins no i know i think what i've decided is i have to just be happy with what i send out
21:26i guess my self-doubt has come about because i was so positive going into that last challenge and i
21:34just got blindsided out of nowhere so that really sort of shook me up i wanted to make a change in my
21:41life a big career change but now i'm just too tired it's just it's just getting um exhausting
21:48i trust you're gonna figure this out yeah and you will i do like the dress i'm making and hopefully
21:58i'll be successful but now i'm just trying to get through tomorrow you have two hours tonight and
22:07sometime tomorrow but it's gonna be an early runway show have a good night i'll see you tomorrow okay bye-bye
22:13we had to use every bit of fabric so i was forced to kind of do this little scarf just to eat the
22:20fabric up i had no choice
22:27yesterday i was ready to go home but i got a video message from my husband it's just sort of gave
22:46me a whole new renewed spirit
22:52maybe if two challenges seems too far to go if i can get through this one maybe one challenge maybe
22:57that would seem doable i think today is the biggest the most exciting elimination day and three of us
23:04are going to go home so it's going to be crazy i think i definitely dropped the ball a little bit
23:11on this challenge but i still rocked it out and i love the dress all right kids let's get a person
23:19good morning designers i will be sending in the model soon you'll have two hours to work with them
23:25you'll be sending them downstairs to the l'oreal paris makeup room to work with collier strong
23:30you'll be sending them to the tresemme hair salon you'll be using the macy's accessory wall you must
23:35use the scraps of your fabric anything that's a postcard size or bigger needs to be used so pieces
23:41like this that counts all right vincent gia has had an accident is she okay she will be all right i was
23:52really upset about gia you know it's like oh man this is not good so i'm hoping that she'd be all right
23:57we have javi for you she'll be coming in so you really have to make it work who's jenny that's the
24:03girl i had in the beginning i got no seam allowance it's over she don't work give this everything you
24:09possibly can because again three of you will be going home i'm sending in the models
24:18oh i like that yeah i think i like that i don't want to go home yet and yeah there's a lot of
24:25things going on in my head right now we're good we're good we're good we're good we're gonna win
24:29again i feel i definitely had one of the stronger pieces in the room this is a fresh idea about a
24:34cocktail dress that's very sexy even i thought jeffrey's outfit looked very costumey and cheap
24:41it's not something that if i was a girl i would wear to a cocktail party i definitely designed the
24:47silhouette for a different person completely i know i like my dress but i have no idea how it's going to
24:52be received by the judges oh no that's not good we both looked at each other and go uh-oh we managed to
25:00get the dress on it but uh she's a lot bigger than the hip she broke the zipper and then that's that
25:05sucks let me see something i hope that i don't get thrown off the runway twice because i'd like to go
25:11to the final three
25:21that blue that we talked about would be amazing i want to look young we were going to go with sort of a
25:26fresh young pink to sort of counteract the fact that my dresses tend to be a little mature
25:36i'm not kidding you no you would yell no no yeah before she was getting her hair done i was sewing
25:41the zipper in on the dress you know because i didn't have much time damn designers models we have five
25:49minutes i just am going to walk around and see the condition of these scraps they're all right here okay
25:55cane yes sir wraps they're all crammed into the bag okay yes they're all in here this is great it's a
26:03little heavy angela here are the scraps and i'm stuffing them in the purse to give the purse volume

26:23about this that doesn't look expensive hello hello welcome to the runway as you know in fashion one day
26:38you're in and the next day you're out but in fashion sometimes you get a second chance vincent
26:46angela each of you once won a challenge so we brought you back the only way for you to avoid elimination
26:54again is to win this challenge but either way three of you will be going home tonight
27:01your challenge was to design an outfit for a cocktail party using only black and white fabric
27:08we asked you to use all of the fabric that you purchased in the final look we gave you 100
27:15one day to put it together and the services of collier strong consulting makeup artist for l'oreal paris
27:23let's introduce the judges first we have top american designer michael kores hey guys
27:31mina garcia fashion director of el magazine hello and our very special guest designer zach posen
27:39thank you for having me hello we'll score your designs as they come down the runway one of you will be named
27:45the winner and three of you will be out let's start the show i love the shrug i just absolutely loved that
28:00silhouette and the dress i felt good about it i thought that there might be a chance that i could win
28:07i was very happy with how everything turned out it was a lot of black but i thought amanda rocked
28:21it out and looked so good i felt pretty strong that uh you know having a little bit of white was enough
28:27it was just so josephine baker i could just see it you know paris 1920s with the silhouette of the
28:39feathers and the little dress i loved the dress but i was just never sure what the judges are going to say
28:46anymore my dress definitely looked good on the runway because it was the only white dress basically there
29:02black people we just look good in white it just looks great off our skin i loved it looked exactly
29:08what i wanted to look i was really happy with the dress and the thigh eye leggings and i thought the
29:22entire outfit looked really sexy on marlinda it's edgy it's young it's totally hip
29:38the dress showed that it was moving it was flowy it was fun it was young it was sexy and and that's
29:44what i wanted to show and i was pretty happy with it javia she over pumped the dress which also made it
29:57look shorter but this was a golden opportunity for me and i took advantage of it
30:10we've scored your designs we want to ask all of you some questions so let's bring out your models
30:28michael i want to start with you i chose white because it was a little simple i wanted to do a
30:43cummerbund type belt and i cut out different um floral shapes of it i really wanted something really edgy
30:49sexy and sensual sex i think it's incredibly um chic and and simple the asymmetry is really nice it's
30:58very flattering i think you did an excellent job as always i like when your total look the earrings
31:05the bag everything's helping your design it looks cool it looks very modern i'm curious is that exactly
31:12you had the right amount of fabric i just lined the inside of the purse i just kept lining and kept
31:16lining it what do you mean oh really on the inside of the purse it's lined with the white
31:21really impeccable thank you vincent tell us about your dress okay we worked with cottons um basically
31:28matte and shine it's a polish sateen with a soft eyelid i did all this by hand so it took quite a lot
31:35of time i don't like this i think the proportion is wrong the length of that dress makes it look
31:41cheap cheap cheap when it should be a cocktail dress and look chic the cape is really problematic
31:49with the dress to me it was the it's the extra material can you hold up the cape over the black
31:54skirt and lengthen it like extend the skirt down right above her right above her neck it just would
31:59have been a bit more elegant i love short clothes but this is better it's it's elegant
32:05uli tell us about your dress as i couldn't choose crazy colors i went for the print and i made a dress
32:13which is kind of a fun um cocktail party dress probably goes more in the warmer um environment
32:19like miami or saint tropez and i stuffed all the extra fabric basically in a stocking and made a
32:27a necklace out of it i think it's cute um is this is the necklace attached to the dress no it's extra so i
32:33can take it off the necklace drives me crazy i know i had to do something they look like pool floats
32:39i think the sleeves are a little long again it i think there's the thing is i just wanted them to
32:45kind of end on the same level but yeah but i find that heavy when it ends on the same level
32:53she looks taller leaner longer more delicate yeah fragile
32:58angela tell us about your dress well i just really loved the high neckline and the grace of
33:06the proportion and i think it's very very modern but very very edwardian i made the dress a little
33:11bit shorter and made it bare in the back and usually when merchandising handbags i always put muslin in
33:17there so the extra is in the handbag you know you want to make it inspirational but also you need to
33:24make it realistic it's a little overwhelming it doesn't mean it's costume and the fabrication
33:30to me in the back fabrication didn't feel rich did you make that bag no i didn't let's have a look in
33:38this this is a frame bag you don't really need to stuff this yeah it's going to look fine with that
33:43that to me is just like let me just shove it in there and hopefully no one sees it kind of thing
33:49jeffrey yes tell us about your outfit when i heard cocktail party the first thing i
33:54thought of were the last couple that i had gone to in l.a i just wanted to capture that spirit
34:00with with my dress i made the leggings and then all my extra fabric went into the belt
34:06i think young and edgy can still be chic and there's something about this that doesn't look
34:12expensive it looks a little cheap to me i did decidedly dress it down i think it can go more
34:20rock and roll and more elegant it could be both yeah i mean i think it can be edgier it would be
34:26interesting to see you do something else jeffrey besides this you know hard rock kind of la look
34:35laura tell us about your cocktail dress i used the cocktail aspect to um add this detail to the bottom
34:43i had to make a little bag i was able to use all my fabric i have nothing nothing left over this was
34:49absolutely it i think it's fun but youthful michael it's chic it's perfectly made but so much more
34:59youthful than where you've been going and also nice to see a young silhouette from you how great i mean
35:05i think that's terrific i worked really hard it shows and you can bring this to a store and a store
35:10would pick this up and sell this i love the sparkles too and i like that it's not all over the place
