00:01Previously on Project Runway.
00:03For your first challenge, you must use materials
00:06found in your apartment.
00:11I have never made a dress in my life,
00:14but I know I have it in me.
00:16I look around the room.
00:17It's just a blur of remedial, intermediate bullshit.
00:20Let's look at this kooky hat, yeah.
00:26Very unflattering fit on top.
00:29It's adorable.
00:31Keith, you are the winner for this challenge.
00:34You also will have immunity.
00:35All right.
00:37Jeffrey, you're in.
00:39Stacy, you're out.
00:43The winner of Project Runway will receive
00:45a spread in Elle magazine,
00:47a mentorship with Ink International Concepts Design,
00:50a 2007 Saturn Sky Roadster,
00:52and $100,000 to start their own line,
00:55furnished by Tresemme Professional Hair Care.
00:58This is Project Runway.
01:00Fashion is my life.
01:01I'm going to win.
01:02To search for the next big fashion designer.
01:05I'm fabulously glamorous.
01:07You have mad skills.
01:0915 contestants.
01:10They are the best group ever.
01:12I'm here to win.
01:13Three finalists will make it to Olympus Fashion Week.
01:16The bitch is gonna come out.
01:18The other designers don't stand a chance.
01:20But only one can be the winner.
01:22I'm better than they are.
01:23You gotta be kidding me.
01:25Who will be the next big fashion designer?
01:28I got this in the bag.
01:30Carry on.
01:31For these 15 contestants,
01:32Project Runway is the chance of a lifetime.
01:35Stacey was really nice and I wish her all the best.
01:49I feel bad.
01:50But we all have to go sometime.
01:54I really don't care about immunity
01:56because I know I'm going to be able to, like,
01:59do a really good job with every challenge.
02:03I'm feeling really good.
02:04Really confident.
02:05Like, it's a great day today.
02:07I like all the other designers
02:09and I'm really happy to be a part of this.
02:19Hi.
02:20Hi.
02:21So, in our last challenge we chose the models for you.
02:26This time you get to pick.
02:29Let's bring out the models.
02:39Models, this is a competition for you too.
02:43The model paired with the winning designer
02:46will get a fashion spread in Elle magazine.
02:50Keith, you won the first challenge.
02:54You get to choose first.
02:56I picked Nazri.
03:03Okay, now I'm going to pull your name out of this bag
03:05to see who picks next.
03:10Vincent.
03:12Tia.
03:13Catherine.
03:14Amanda.
03:15Bradley.
03:16I, um, really loved working with you.
03:18Camilla last time,
03:19but I'm going to have to choose Carissa.
03:26Malan.
03:27I'd like to work with Moon again.
03:28Laura.
03:29I'll choose Katie.
03:30Bonnie.
03:32Tony are beautiful,
03:33but I'm going to pick Marie Linda.
03:37Kane.
03:38I would like to choose Katia.
03:40Angela.
03:41Camilla.
03:42Uli.
03:43I'm going to choose Lindsay.
03:44Jeffrey.
03:45Jeffrey.
03:46Jeff.
03:52That leaves you, Alison.
03:54You get to choose who's in and who's out.
03:57Candice.
03:58Tony.
03:59One of you will be out.
04:01Tony.
04:02Candice.
04:03That means you're out.
04:04Auf Wiedersehen.
04:05Okay, now you have your models.
04:07Are you ready for your next challenge?
04:08Yes.
04:09Yes.
04:10Okay, for your next challenge, you're going to be designing for an icon of American beauty.
04:14And she is here.
04:15Let's bring her out.
04:16Come on.
04:17Come on.
04:18Come on.
04:19Come on.
04:20Come on.
04:21Okay, now you have your models.
04:22Are you ready for your next challenge?
04:23Yes.
04:24Yes.
04:25Okay, for your next challenge, you're going to be designing for an icon of American beauty.
04:34And she is here.
04:36Let's bring her out.
04:37Oh, my God.
04:38Oh, my God.
04:39Oh, my God.
04:40Hi.
04:41I want to welcome Miss USA, Tara Connor.
04:58And she will tell you about your next challenge.
05:02I will be competing at the 55th annual Miss Universe pageant in L.A. this year.
05:08Evening gown is a very, very important part of the competition.
05:11It counts for one-third of the score.
05:13For your next challenge, one of you will design my gown.
05:17I was so freaking excited because this is my main livelihood and career, designing pageant gowns.
05:29I'm really excited that Miss USA is actually going to pick one of our dresses.
05:34And it's going to be viewed by, like, millions and millions of people in 80-some-odd countries.
05:38That's a pretty big challenge.
05:39Why don't you change?
05:40And you guys, me, Tara, and Tim in the workroom.
05:43Okay.
05:44Bye.
05:45Bye.
05:49I am delighted to welcome Miss USA, Tara Connor, for whom, as Heidi told you, you will be designing an evening gown.
05:57So this is a huge deal.
06:00Your design could mean the difference between Tara winning and losing.
06:05And Tara, we'd love to have you talk to the designers about what you look for in a pageant gown.
06:10Okay.
06:11I'm the second shortest girl in the pageant this year.
06:14So I'm going to need a gown that's going to elongate me.
06:17Earth tones, maybe.
06:18Monochromatic tones.
06:20Try to stay away from white.
06:22You know, I don't want anything too plunging.
06:24I don't want them to see this.
06:26I want them to see me.
06:28Designers, there is one more thing.
06:33Naturally.
06:34You will be working in teams of two.
06:37I've never done a gown before.
06:42What I'm hoping is that I get paired with somebody who has excellent construction skills, like Kane.
06:49So you will spend the next 30 minutes sketching in order to prepare to pitch to Tara.
06:55Tara will pick seven of you to move forward with your designs.
06:59Okay.
07:00So you have 30 minutes.
07:02Use that time well.
07:11I'm a little nervous about the fact that this is, in quotes, a pageant dress.
07:15Only because the word pageant to me has weird connotations.
07:18You know, i.e.
07:19JonBenet Ramsey.
07:20And I don't know that world.
07:22In a pageant, you need to stand out.
07:27And so I wanted something that would sort of give her the illusion of having a really, really beautiful hourglass.
07:34And then also give her the illusion of being incredibly tall.
07:41I'm just going to tell you why I think we would make a fabulous team.
07:43Because she said she would do something different.
07:45I think Angela definitely wanted to be on my team because she kept coming over during our 30 minutes of sketching.
07:51time and, like, bugging me.
07:54You know this too well.
07:55You're going to need someone to pull you out of your hole.
07:58She thought I was a shoe-in to win.
08:00I'm not looking at it that way at all.
08:02Angela was, uh, just sort of sussing people out.
08:06She was just looking for a free ride.
08:08I'm not saying you can't do something different either.
08:11Designers, your time is up.
08:14We're going to start with our pitches to Tara.
08:18And we're going to start with Bradley.
08:23All right.
08:24I would do, like, strapping on the back.
08:27Okay.
08:28Right?
08:29And then with some fullness and some ruffles there.
08:31I'm an architect, actually.
08:33So my drawings are kind of very architectural and plan-like.
08:36This year's kind of goddess and Grecian inspired.
08:39This whole asymmetric shoulder with a twisted strap.
08:42What's going to be revealed is going to be your strong warrior structure.
08:47Totally fitted here.
08:48Okay.
08:49Fitted, fitted, fitted.
08:50Totally fitted even in here.
08:51Mm-hmm.
08:52And I want to see your legs.
08:55I think your legs are so important.
08:58They're gorgeous.
08:59Okay.
09:00Very simple and clean and elegant in the front.
09:03Keep you long, keep you lean and tall.
09:05I sketch very loose.
09:07Very free.
09:08When you walk out on that stage, it's like...
09:11Oh, my God.
09:13Oh, my gosh.
09:14I'm going to talk a million miles a minute because I have so much to say to you.
09:18I love you.
09:19I watch the pageant.
09:20I'm way into pageants, blah, blah, blah.
09:21Two of my sisters do the pageants, so I know a lot about them.
09:23Anyway, the line of your dress starts higher and it's a longer line.
09:26Okay.
09:27And it also frames your beautiful face because you are freaking gorgeous.
09:29It's about you.
09:30You need to feel like a million bucks.
09:31Okay.
09:32Love you, mean it.
09:33Have a good day.
09:34Okay.
09:35I think Jayla with the Oscars, when she came on the stage and those panels kind of opened
09:39up.
09:40My design philosophy is very much about the silhouette of a woman's body and the shape and form.
09:44A very fitted, you know, kind of corseted top with halter straps that go around your
09:49neck.
09:50I would like five different layers of material.
09:53I'm going to ask you questions.
09:55I don't sketch.
09:56How do you feel about umpire waist?
09:59Um...
10:00No.
10:01Okay.
10:02That's all I need to know.
10:03Also, I'm thinking gloves.
10:05What do you feel about that?
10:06Probably not.
10:07Okay.
10:08Tara has made her decisions.
10:12Tara?
10:13I have.
10:14The first team leader that I have chosen is Keith.
10:19I love the idea of the line and the design.
10:23Our next one is Lee.
10:25I love your idea of the different layers of the chiffon and how it would flow on stage.
10:30I think that that would look very, very pretty.
10:33Vincent?
10:34You really stood out to me.
10:35I like it that you were trying to show me, not the dress.
10:39Laura?
10:40The thing that stood out with me was you really considered how it was going to look on the
10:44stage with the lights and with the different material that you were thinking about going
10:48with.
10:49I love the idea of the corset and making it kind of curvy looking.
10:58Our next one is Jeffrey.
11:01I'm glad that you tapped in that I'm a strong independent female.
11:06Okay.
11:07And last but not least, pain.
11:14I love the idea of making like the jewelry type of look and the way that it's all going
11:19to flow together.
11:20Plus I love that you're a pageant freak.
11:23I'm very, very excited to see how the presentation is going to be.
11:27So congratulations to our 17 leaders.
11:29We are going to be choosing teams next and we'll see you on the runway for the judging.
11:34Thank you so much.
11:35Our team leaders are lined up.
11:40I'm going to call your names randomly from our velvet bag.
11:44And when I do, please choose your teammate.
11:46Keep in mind how you work together will be considered in the judging.
11:51So choose carefully.
11:53I never worked in a team.
11:55I always do everything by myself.
11:57I don't even know other designers.
11:59So I was worried about it.
12:02In a situation like this, really want to make sure that you're teamed up with the right person.
12:07Personality wise is huge.
12:09Coming up on Project Runway.
12:11I don't understand Kane at all, what he's thinking.
12:14It's killing me.
12:15Ugh!
12:16You know, I can't hold people's hands.
12:18Our team leaders are lined up.
12:21I'm going to call your names randomly from our velvet bag.
12:24And when I do, please choose your teammate.
12:27So our first designer is...
12:30Laura.
12:31I'd like to work with Michael.
12:36Our next designer is...
12:39Kane.
12:40Oh, this is so hard.
12:42I would like to choose Robert.
12:45I probably would have chosen Angela, had she not bothered me during our 30 minutes of sketching time.
12:52Our next designer is Jeffrey.
12:55I choose Allison.
12:59I choose Allison.
13:03Milan.
13:04Catherine.
13:07Uli.
13:08Bonnie.
13:10Keith.
13:13Bradley.
13:14Bradley's aesthetic is totally different from mine.
13:17But between him and Angela, Bradley, any day.
13:22I don't need to reach in for the last designer, because it's Vincent.
13:25Well, I'm happy to work with Allison.
13:27Angela.
13:28Angela.
13:29Angela.
13:32Now that your teams are assembled, you have two days for this challenge.
13:36You have a $300 budget.
13:38Woo!
13:40And we're going shopping with that $300 right now.
13:49Can you grab the other fabric?
13:51This has a bit more gold in it.
13:52I think it's going to be better.
13:53This competition is actually pretty exciting because...
13:57Evening gowns are what I do best.
13:59I felt like the warm tones of the gold and the browns would kind of give her a luminescent quality.
14:05See, that's very soft and pretty.
14:07She wanted something kind of earth tone, she said, but I got an iridescent organza and it's gorgeous.
14:15So hopefully she'll love the end product.
14:16This definitely brings out the more purple.
14:17I don't understand Kane at all, what he's thinking.
14:20Unless Sherbert has suddenly become an earth tone and not an ice cream, I'm not sure what he's going to do to explain away that.
14:26Do you have that?
14:27Do you have that?
14:28Now, there was another thing.
14:29Okay, we have 14 minutes.
14:30It's all right.
14:31Stop saying that much.
14:32Thank you, Mary.
14:33We could walk out of here without fabric.
14:34That's all we're saying.
14:35We are not going to walk out of here without fabric.
14:36Well, we could if we don't make a decision.
14:37We are not.
14:38We are not.
14:39Angela kept saying to me, we only have T minus six minutes, T minus five.
14:43And I said, please, you know, let's stop that.
14:46Wait, but slow down a little bit.
14:48I don't want to.
14:49Let me just look one more.
14:50One more run.
14:51I don't need to.
14:52She was nervous.
14:53You know, I can't hold people's hand.
14:54I'm freaking out because Vincent is the team leader.
14:57And I'm not inspired by his vision at all.
15:01So right now I'm feeling worried.
15:03Everybody, time is up.
15:06All right.
15:22Well, I'm going to keep this pattern so when I go home I can do a little surf, huh?
15:25Exactly.
15:26Working together is like a comedy show because we're both, we crack each other up.
15:32Do you want to look like Miss Universe?
15:33We'll do it for you in fuchsia.
15:36If we do something strapless, I can see it at the waist.
15:39I chose Michael because I really thought that he would honestly question what I normally do.
15:46Okay.
15:50We're all talking about, you know, it's going to be a one-person elimination.
15:53It's going to be two.
15:54I think it's going to be one person.
15:56So I hope because it's going to be bummer to these two people at this point.
16:01I want to see people start fighting.
16:05Hey, Vincent, do you want me to help drape the skirt?
16:08Um, just hang.
16:10I felt a little bit awkward about not being able to give her work at whatever time.
16:18But I knew I had to get something done.
16:20Is there anything you want me to do?
16:22No.
16:23I was sitting there and I was looking around and everybody is working together.
16:28And I was like, what is going on here?
16:31Like, there was no opportunity for me to be part of the process.
16:35Angela.
16:36It's going to be elegant.
16:37It's going to have a certain elegance.
16:38Yeah.
16:39Right?
16:40It will.
16:41Trust me.
16:42Yeah.
16:43Trust me.
16:44Trust me.
16:45I think that Bradley might have been worried because I have immunity that I wouldn't care.
16:48and then that would mess him up.
16:49But, like, I would think that he would know after my last challenge that I'm kind of, like, good.
16:53So what's he worried about?
16:54What's he worried about?
16:55It will not be the end of you this dress.
17:04The thing is that the best way to go about something like this is just to be really organized.
17:07And if you're organized then you don't have to worry about all the other border.
17:12So that I was very excited about somebody, the best way to go about something like this is to be really organized.
17:17Yeah.
17:18If you're organized, then you don't have to worry about all the other bases.
17:21And if you're organized, then you don't have to worry about all the other bull .
17:24I'm very happy that Milan picked me as a partner.
17:27He's had so much experience with gowns, and he really knows the structure.
17:30So it's helped a lot to learn that.
17:33That's just the right angle.
17:35Yeah.
17:36I never went to school.
17:37I taught myself fashion without having really any support from anyone.
17:42When I was about 13, I had a stack of sketches that I drew.
17:50And when I went to my mother and I showed her the sketches, she looked through the first
17:54few pages, and then she threw them on the floor and said that they would never amount to anything
17:59and that I should never do that again.
18:04Project Runway will give me a chance to show her.
18:08I'm very happy, yes.
18:18That's exactly what I want, right here.
18:20I'm so happy.
18:21I'm so happy, I almost cried.
18:31Vincent, I'm really concerned because I made a dress like this when I was in college.
18:36Right now, I can't discuss that because I've got to figure out how to drape this back.
18:40Why don't you cut that like that?
18:43Angela was a little bit worried about what we were trying to achieve.
18:47It got annoying because that's not her call.
18:50I'm the team leader and it's my call.
18:53Hey, listen, you have to move three feet away.
18:55Please, please, I got to do this.
18:58I need you to move three feet away from me, all right?
19:01I stepped back one and a half feet, you can step forward one and a half feet.
19:04It's killing me.
19:05Ugh.
19:06You hurt me like so hard, so hard because if you're negative, it's going to me up so
19:11bad and this is coming.
19:12I'm not being negative.
19:13I'm being honest.
19:14It's coming.
19:15It's coming.
19:16It's coming now.
19:17It's like hit it.
19:18I'm getting it.
19:19Bam.
19:20Yippee-ay-hey-hey.
19:21Woo-hoo.
19:22Time's up.
19:23We can go to bed.
19:24Sleep time.
19:25Coming up on Project Runway.
19:26How are you feeling?
19:27I wouldn't want my name attached to this dress.
19:43The length of the gown was probably about half a foot too short.
19:47You get to defend that.
19:50Hi, everybody.
19:57Julie, Bonnie, how are you doing?
20:00Good.
20:01This is how it's going to look.
20:03I love your concept.
20:05It just needs perfect finishing, all right?
20:10Let's carry on.
20:12I'm pretty happy about what we are doing today.
20:15I'm pretty happy about what we are doing today.
20:18I'm pretty happy about what we are doing, Bonnie and I.
20:21I think it's definitely what Tara wanted.
20:23How are you guys?
20:25Very good.
20:26I'll tell you what I don't like.
20:27Okay.
20:28I don't like this.
20:29I like the folds over so that we don't see this.
20:36You're supposed to jump up and down a bit.
20:38Well, I will tomorrow.
20:40Okay, guys.
20:41All right.
20:43Carry on.
20:44I just, I mean, I'll be blunt.
20:50I'm disappointed.
20:51Oh, that's okay.
20:53All right.
20:54How are you feeling?
20:55As a designer, a professional designer, I wouldn't want my name attached to this dress.
21:02Mm-hmm.
21:04It might have bothered me for a bit for Angela to turn her back on me, but that's the type
21:10of person she is.
21:11I'm not going to get flustered over someone like that.
21:14Okie dokie.
21:15Flip back.
21:16Okay.
21:17Hurry on.
21:18How are you guys doing?
21:19Oh, we're doing well.
21:20We're just trying to work out the bottom.
21:21We're just trying to work out the bottom.
21:22We're just trying to work out the bottom.
21:23That's it.
21:24Okay.
21:25It's looking really heavy.
21:30Kind of like it's carved out of a big log.
21:33Really?
21:38Just be extremely objective and think, what's not working for us?
21:43Okay.
21:46Just work hard.
21:47All right.
21:50I will see you in the morning.
21:51Carry on.
21:53You guys aren't getting along in there?
21:55I feel like we're relating, like, well, but...
21:57Really?
21:58I don't think so at all.
21:59Well, I don't value your opinion in this situation, so...
22:02Okay.
22:03You're wrong.
22:04He made it clear that he's a designer.
22:06It's his...
22:07It's his challenge.
22:08It's his dress.
22:09So, okay.
22:10I mean, I think he's kind of right on that.
22:12See you later.
22:13See ya.
22:14There's just...
22:15I think there's just too much fabric.
22:20Throughout the day, I kept getting more nervous about our garment.
22:24Here it's just like...
22:25No, but that's what I want.
22:26That's what I want.
22:27Okay.
22:28I want it...
22:29I want it, like, loose really tight like that.
22:31The way it was turning out, it just looked heavy.
22:33And so, no woman's gonna see that on the runway and wanna wear it.
22:36If and when that gets called out...
22:38Mm-hmm.
22:39...you get to defend that.
22:41Okay.
22:42This cannot be here.
22:43It'll look like she's pooping.
22:45I'm not taking this at all.
22:46There are enough rhinestones.
22:47Robert, we bought four million gross rhinestones.
22:48We will put them on till our fingernails bleed.
22:49Steve, a beauty queen, not a disco ball.
23:03Whatever you do, don't say that on the runway that we ran out of time.
23:07Well, Angela...
23:08Angela, sweetheart, you already don't want responsibility for being any part of this dress with me.
23:14So you're gonna say, if anything, that you had no responsibility for this dress.
23:18If this dress wins tomorrow, you don't want any responsibility.
23:21You already said that seven times.
23:23I'm happy with the dress.
23:25I'm team leader.
23:26Vincent is 100% completely behind the dress.
23:40I've seen him defend crap on the runway before.
23:43Honestly, I think that we are gonna be in the bottom three.
23:47I'm gonna defend myself as much as possible.
23:50Like, it's just the words are gonna just come right out.
23:52Angela, she is transparent as a glass window.
23:57Yeah, no, he's right.
23:58Look, she's gonna knife me in the back in a heartbeat.
24:00She'll smile up front, and she'll put a knife in my back.
24:03I got one word for you to sum her up.
24:05Feminazi.
24:06Mm-hmm.
24:16Everybody, I'm about to send in the models.
24:19So you have two hours to send them to the Tresemme hair salon,
24:23to the L'Oreal Paris makeup room,
24:25and to fit them and prep them for the runway.
24:32My garment just fit my model perfect.
24:34So I could not be more happy with my work on this challenge.
24:37Oh, you look gorgeous, sister.
24:41It looks great on you.
24:43It looks very nice like this.
24:46Fitting our model before the show was nerve-wracking.
24:50The length of the gown was probably about half a foot too short.
24:54I don't want to go home when it's not my design.
24:57Angela, do we have seven minutes or a little bit more?
24:59Yeah.
25:00No, 12.30.
25:02Could you find out for sure, dear?
25:03It's real important.
25:04It's 12.15.
25:05No, when we have to stop and go down?
25:07Yes, that's what they said.
25:08They said 12.15, we have to be ready for runway.
25:11You told me 12.
25:12Thank you, Angela.
25:13It's 12.30 now.
25:14Okay.
25:15I asked you four times to find out for sure.
25:16And you stand here and you say 12.15 like you know for sure.
25:22You know, the whole time of the gown, you didn't help me.
25:25You absolutely cannot do that.
25:26I know.
25:27Because you know why?
25:28I offered to help you with the gown.
25:29That's your style.
25:30How silly of me to get mad like or stoop so low.
25:34I'm really looking for more red carpet than pageant.
25:41Like a little volume sort of movie stuff.
25:45Nice.
25:46That's looking good.
25:47Okay, designers, models, this is it.
25:56I need you to follow me right now.
25:59I was really, really concerned about the skirt.
26:02It was too short.
26:03It was just, it was too late.
26:04We didn't have enough time.
26:05We had to leave it right now.
26:08Coming up on Project Runway.
26:14What happened here?
26:18This was the nightmare of my life.
26:26Hello.
26:27Hi.
26:29Welcome to The Runway.
26:31As you know in fashion, one day you're in, and the next day you're out.
26:37For this challenge, we asked you to work in teams of two
26:41to create an evening gown for Miss USA, Tara Conner.
26:46We gave you $300 and two days to put it together.
26:50Tara will wear the winning look in the Miss Universe pageant.
26:54And she's putting her future in your hands.
26:58So we better be wowed by what you've done.
27:04Let's meet the judges.
27:06Sitting in for Michael Kors, we have world-renowned fashion designer, Vera Wang.
27:13Nina Garcia, fashion director of Elle Magazine.
27:18And your client, Miss USA, Tara Conner.
27:23We will score your designs as they come down the runway.
27:27And Tara will pick the winner.
27:30Let's start the show.
27:32When I saw my dress come down the runway, I was totally excited.
27:42I couldn't stop looking at the beautifully grotesque way that the skirt was draped.
27:47And it turned out exactly the way I wanted it to turn out.
27:49I think if we had two weeks, we could make a really gorgeous dress.
27:52But the fact that it was so complicated and the time was so little,
27:55the end result wasn't exactly what I thought it would be.
27:58The design that I pitched to Tara is exactly what we made.
28:06Miss USA loved the sketch, so she'll love the dress, hopefully.
28:11I'm not worried about being eliminated.
28:14I think it turned out very, very nice.
28:17When my dress came down the runway, I felt really, really good.
28:27I got my point of view across.
28:34Vincent was very difficult to work with.
28:36That was Vincent's dress, not Vincent and Angela's dress.
28:40I feel really confident about my gown.
28:50I've been to 462 million pageants, and I've never seen a dress like it.
28:55So I feel good about it.
28:57I felt really good about what we had finished and accomplished
29:02and what the gown looked like.
29:03It really felt like it had delivered on what a beauty pageant winner would want.
29:07I've put my best foot forward.
29:18I know what I've done is really good, but we'll see what they say.
29:25I wasn't happy with it at all, but I did the best I could with his design.
29:30I think it was really modern and clean and sophisticated, and the points Tara picked out,
29:44they were definitely accomplished.
29:52I think it was really eye-catching and beautiful, and it was very true to what Uli had pitched.
29:57My garment is very different.
30:04The silhouette is much simpler.
30:06I'm very proud of the dress, but I think that Tara is the real judge here.
30:12It was gorgeous.
30:13If I don't say so myself, I did an excellent job on the construction.
30:17We've scored your designs.
30:36Will the following teams please step forward?
30:39Cane and Robert.
30:42Milan and Catherine.
30:46Uli and Bonnie.
30:51Vincent and Angela.
30:54If I have not called your name, congratulations.
30:58Your scores were high enough, and you can move on to the next challenge.
31:05You can leave the runway.
31:07The four remaining teams have the highest and the lowest scores.
31:10One of you will be named the winner, and for this challenge, only one of you will be going home.
31:31Let's bring out the models.
31:36I would like to start with Uli and Bonnie.
31:51It's a beautiful gown.
31:52I love the way it flows.
31:53I thought really when she's walking, it opens up, and it makes her really soft and flowy.
31:59I really like the way it is in the back.
32:01I love the back of that.
32:02I think that's beautiful.
32:03Because I said I wanted something with the back cut out of it.
32:05How was your feeling on the dress, Bonnie?
32:07I loved it, and I thought we really got along well.
32:10I'm happy with it, so.
32:12I think it's a very modern dress, and...
32:15I love the color.
32:16I do love the color.
32:17I love the layering of the color.
32:19Yes.
32:20I think that's very unique.
32:21I think they did very, very well.
32:26Tara, how do you like Kane and Robert's dress?
32:29I love a sweetheart top.
32:30My top at Miss USA was actually a sweetheart top with straps.
32:35The color seemed different for me, but the more I looked at it, the more I loved the color.
32:40I thought this was earthy, but with a little bit of color.
32:42And on stage, like, I just want for you at Miss Universe, you've already won the state pageant.
32:46You've already won the national pageant.
32:48You're going to Miss Universe, for goodness sakes.
32:50So that's why I was like, this was a perfect little meet in the middle.
32:55It's amazing that you took the initiative to choose the color that you thought was complimentary to her.
33:01And I had reservations about it being too much, but Kane convinced me, and when I actually saw it all together,
33:06I thought that he did a great job of really seeing it through.
33:09You listen very well to everything that I said, and there's not a whole lot of bad things I can say about this gown.
33:15Milan and Catherine.
33:20The ruching is a lot of detail on one dress.
33:24I love all that gathering and all that. I think that's very modern, very cool.
33:29And I just, something up there is not quite right.
33:32There's like so much going on. It's so poofy. One is bigger than the other.
33:35I was a bit confused on that as well because, you know, you can't tell where the action's going.
33:41Yeah.
33:42What happened here with this bustier?
33:44Basically, when this was to be done for Tara, it would be done much flatter, but we built this up a little bit more just to give her the illusion, like a theatrical illusion that she's a little bigger on top as Tara is.
33:56And I think Tara wanted to look less busty, not more busty.
34:01And then something down there is not quite right. I don't know.
34:04It's not long enough.
34:05The model, her proportions, actually she's much longer in the torso than any of the other models, and I wasn't aware of that.
34:12It's always good to leave extra.
34:14Yeah.
34:15Catherine, what do you think of the design?
34:18I went into this challenge with, this is Milan's design.
34:24In your team, if one of you would have to go, who would it be?
34:27I would have to say Milan.
34:29I just don't want to go home when it wasn't my vision and my design.
34:34Milan.
34:35The design concept was my own.
34:37I mean, it would have to be me.
34:41Vincent and Angela.
34:45Did you guys work well together?
34:47The work that I decided to put into this in the two days was astronomical.
34:52I had to rip this apart for mistakes that she put in and do it all myself.
34:57Angela, what do you think of the dress?
35:00I didn't like it. I thought it was too simple.
35:03I thought it reminded me of a dress that I did when I was in college.
35:07Can I see the back of that?
35:10Because I thought this was really beautiful in the back.
35:13The back of it.
35:14It's very sweet.
35:15Well, thank you so much.
35:17I do think that the sleeve is, you know, it's not easy to wear.
35:22They're looking a little space cadet.
35:25I think the idea is sophisticated, though.
35:28And how minimal it is does make it interesting.
35:31It just didn't feel designery to me or inspired or different.
35:35I can't see this as being one that would stand out.
35:38Actually, I disagree with you.
35:40I think the dress does stand out because it is so different.
35:44Like, I almost feel like maybe you were trying to lead when he was the leader.
35:49I was the team leader, and if someone says to you, I have no ideas about gowns, what would you do?
35:55That's rough. That's rough stuff.
35:57Vincent, if one of you would have to go, who would it be?
36:01What she put me through to make this dress happen, it was horrific.
36:06So Angela would go?
36:08Oh, yes.
36:09What do you think about that, Angela?
36:11I'm shocked. I'm in complete and total shock.
36:16This was the nightmare of my life.
36:21Okay, I want to thank you guys.
36:23We've heard what you had to say.
36:25We're going to have a little chat.
36:27And then I'm going to call you back onto the runway for now.
36:30You can leave the runway. Thank you.
36:32What do we think about Vincent and Angela?
36:45Well, with Vincent's dress, it was very simple.
36:47If we could just taper the sleeves a little, that would make that gown.
36:52I think that gown is classic.
36:55What do you guys think about Angela on her teamwork with Vincent?
37:00That was out of line.
37:02Part of this challenge was to work as a team.
37:04She should have been able to work as a team, Angela.
37:06It was design and teamwork.
37:09It was terrible.
37:14What do we think about Uli and Bonnie?
37:16Uli's, I liked Uli's.
37:17It was the most modern dress.
37:19It was young and hip and happening.
37:21Yes.
37:22Sophisticated.
37:23The low back.
37:24She didn't listen because I did say that I wanted a low back and they listened to that.
37:27That dress was perfectly beautiful.
37:29What do we think about Cain and Robert?
37:33I liked the detail on Cain's dress.
37:36You know, it wasn't too much.
37:38It was very elegant and it was very almost blitzy.
37:41I love the crystals that are on it.
37:42I mean, I can totally see you in that walking and you'd be like, whoa.
37:46Whoa.
37:47Right.
37:48It turned out pretty good.
37:52How about Milan and Catherine?
37:53I don't really know what happened with that one.
37:55One of the things that I did tell them, I want something that will show me.
37:58When that girl was out there, I didn't even see her.
38:01Yeah.
38:02And then the bottom was unfinished.
38:03Horrible.
38:04And just thinking of that dress of your pageant in between all these girls.
38:08Right.
38:09We made up our mind.
38:15Let's bring them back out.
38:16The eight of you will present the best and the worst.
38:31One of you will be named the winner.
38:35And one of you will be out.
38:46The eight of you will present the best and the worst.
38:51One of you will be named the winner.
38:54And one of you will be out.
38:58Robert, you're in.
39:02Please leave the runway.
39:04And now for the winner.
39:22I would like for Tara to announce who the winner is.
39:26The winner of this challenge is Kane.
39:32I love that gown.
39:34I'm going to work that gown.
39:36So thank you so much.
39:38Kane, you won this challenge and you have immunity for the next challenge.
39:42Congratulations.
39:43You can leave the runway.
39:45I'm excited.
39:49Winning this challenge is definitely going to be a huge, huge advancement in my career.
39:56Everybody's going to know that I was the gown designer for Miss USA.
40:01I'm so excited for you.
40:02I'm so excited for you.
40:03I'm so excited for you.
40:05Uli, you're in.
40:08You can leave the runway.
40:10You're in.
40:11You're in.
40:12You're in.
40:13You're in.
40:14You can leave the runway.
40:15You're in.
40:16You're in.
40:17You're in.
40:18You're in.
40:19You can leave the runway.
40:22Melan.
40:23Angela.
40:24And I'm so excited for you.
40:25You're in.
40:26You are in.
40:27You're in.
40:28You can leave the runway.
40:32I'm so excited for you.
40:37And I'm so excited for you.
40:39I'm so excited to be a big one.
40:40You're in.
40:41you can leave the runway.
40:50Milan, Angela, one of you will be out.
40:58Milan, this challenge was about design.
41:01And from color choice to execution,
41:04we feel that you failed.
41:07Angela, this challenge also was about teamwork.
41:12And you failed your teammate.
41:24Angela?
41:26You're in, but just barely.
41:29You can leave the runway.
41:37Milan, that means you're out.
41:43Okay.
41:45Auf Wiedersehen.
41:48Oh my God, I just got kicked off the show and I felt so ashamed.
42:02I hate saying goodbye to people because I've had to say goodbye to people all my life.
42:14I never really had a lot of friends, so it's kind of like for a moment I felt like I'm a part of something.
42:20And now it's over.
42:24But I've had far too many roadblocks in my life.
42:27This isn't going to make me believe that I'm not capable of creating fashion.
42:33The show must go on.
42:39Next on Project Runway.
42:41For your next challenge, you will be designing an outfit inspired by one of fashion's hottest accessories.
42:47Not this morning.
42:50Keith has really just become a major head.
42:53Laura, she's bad mommy.
42:55I don't understand it.
42:57Tomorrow's my birthday and I'm not going to show something that I'm embarrassed to have go down the runway.
43:03I'd rather show nothing.
43:04What if Bradley goes home on his birthday?
43:07Billy out, boobies out.
43:09I am.
43:10I don't even know what to say.
43:12You made that.
43:13Well, okay.
43:14When I give us a hard time, I'm going to give you a hard time right back.
