00:01Previously on Project Runway.
00:03We have an exciting new challenge.
00:04You need to be creative,
00:05because you don't want to end up with your design
00:07in the fashion cemetery over there.
00:09People are going to start getting more bitch-ass with each other.
00:13I don't understand why Carissa had to say that.
00:16Go away!
00:17Austin could have done a better job with leadership.
00:21Morgan is tragic.
00:24Morgan!
00:25Morgan!
00:26Robbio! So checking out.
00:29Alexandra.
00:32Robbio!
00:33Wanted to get off with Alexandra.
00:38Eight of you are left.
00:39One designer will be cut every week until three remain.
00:43Those three will show their line at Olympus Fashion Week.
00:46Then one winner will be chosen.
00:48The winner will receive a spread in Elle Magazine,
00:51a mentorship with Banana Republic Design Team,
00:53and $100,000 to start their own run.
01:01Nora.
01:02Yeah?
01:03If she went shopping,
01:04she could probably find this dress.
01:08You're in Austin.
01:10That means, Nora, you're out.
01:16This is a search for the next big fashion designer.
01:19It's a cutthroat business.
01:21The competition was fierce.
01:23Twelve contestants,
01:24three finalists,
01:26and one winner.
01:27Three designers will make their runway debut
01:30at Olympus Fashion Week.
01:31I plan to make it to Fashion Week.
01:32I think I'll be number one.
01:33And the winner of Project Runway
01:34will receive everything they need
01:36to start their own label.
01:37I think I deserve to win.
01:39People are gonna start getting pretty bitchy.
01:41Oh my.
01:42For these twelve contestants,
01:43Project Runway is the chance of a lifetime.
01:46I was sad to see Nora go home.
01:56She's a great designer.
01:58And I hated to have a spat with her
02:00in front of everybody.
02:01If you had to make that garment
02:03by yourself yesterday and...
02:05I could have done it faster without you.
02:07Oh.
02:08That's how it is.
02:09Yeah.
02:10Nora is extremely talented.
02:14And I think by Nora leaving,
02:17a lot of people are now like,
02:19okay, this is possible.
02:22This is obtainable.
02:28Welcome back to The Runway.
02:30You have lost five,
02:31and there are now only seven of you left.
02:35Let's call this week's challenge
02:37Making a Splash.
02:39No.
02:40You will design a swimsuit,
02:41sleek and glamorous enough
02:43to navigate the waters
02:45of an exclusive fashion industry party.
02:48You only have five hours
02:49to complete your swimsuits.
02:51So be daring,
02:53and use your time wisely.
02:55Let's bring out the models.
02:58Models, it is just as important for you guys
03:09as it is for the designers
03:11for you to stay on this competition.
03:13There is an exclusive fashion spread
03:15in Elle magazine on the line
03:17for the final model.
03:19There are now seven designers
03:21and eight models on the runway.
03:23You know that choosing the right model
03:25is crucial to surviving on the show.
03:27I will draw your names out of this bag,
03:30and you will select in this order.
03:33The last model on the runway will be out.
03:38Karasan, you won the last challenge.
03:41You get to choose first.
03:42Jenny, thank you so much.
03:44You did a wonderful job.
03:46And since this is a bikini competition,
03:49I think I'm gonna have you again.
03:53Alessandra.
03:54Erin.
03:55Kevin.
03:56Since this is a party,
03:57I'm going with the party monster herself.
04:00Morgan still scares me a little,
04:02but it's worth it, you know.
04:04It's worth a gamble, I think.
04:05She seems like she's cleaning up her act.
04:07Wendy.
04:08Martinique.
04:09Austin.
04:10Melissa.
04:11Robert.
04:12Olga.
04:14So Jay, there are two models left on the stage.
04:19Julia and Joy.
04:22The model that you choose will be in,
04:25the other model will be out.
04:27Do I?
04:28Ah, ah.
04:29I've never worked with Joy before,
04:32but, um,
04:34I like Julia's spunk.
04:36So we're gonna go with her.
04:38No sweat.
04:44That means you're out.
04:45Okay.
04:46Auf Wiedersehen.
04:47Bye.
04:48Bye.
04:49Bye.
04:50Bye.
04:51I was a little bit upset.
04:52I really wanted to stay
04:53because I've really made some good friends.
04:57I'm okay.
04:58I'm okay.
04:59I kind of felt like I was leaving summer camp.
05:04Okay, designers.
05:05Good luck with the challenge.
05:07You only have five hours to complete your swimsuits.
05:12And I see you back on the runway.
05:14Bye.
05:15Bye.
05:16Bye.
05:23All right, everyone.
05:24Here we are at Mood.
05:25You have 30 minutes and $75 each to create a swimsuit that can double as evening wear.
05:35I have one that caught my eye so much that I haven't.
05:37Where is it?
05:38It has kind of like a Missoni-ish look.
05:41Oh, yeah.
05:42That's Missoni already.
05:44Okay.
05:45So let's get four yards, please.
05:47I love all the old, like, Esther Williams movies.
05:49That sort of just, like, glamour, bathing beauty ideal, I think, will be sort of echoed in my design.
05:57What is this thong cut like?
05:59Well, I don't wear thong.
06:00I don't know.
06:02I am really flying blind here.
06:04I don't know anything about bathing suit construction.
06:08But I understand that I've got to have a clue because it's got to be done by 5 o'clock.
06:12Are they me?
06:13Oh, boy.
06:14Here we go to making a bathing suit in minus 4, 3, 2, 1.
06:29There's never a lot of time for these challenges, but this particular one, there is no time to complete this challenge.
06:36And I just, you know, I'm wondering how everybody's going to make out.
06:39It's time to make the bathing suit.
06:46I just wanted to make something strappy.
06:48I remember something from somewhere that had straps on it.
06:53So I kind of want, like, a lot of them.
06:55So I got these little rings to hold the top together.
07:01This is a swimsuit for a society girl.
07:06It's like a cream color.
07:08It has two pieces to it.
07:09The cover-up, you know, you can just wear it there.
07:12And then the bathing suit, you can wear it in the water if you want to.
07:15It's very sexy, very elegant, very rich.
07:20I think the three strongest designers at this point in the competition are me, Austin, and Carason.
07:30Since I'm from Miami, bikinis and bathing suits, it's like a big thing over there.
07:35So this should be a fun project for me.
07:38I'm doing kind of like a Missoni-inspired meets, like, Celine.
07:42You know how Michael Kors did that bathing suit with all the gold?
07:46That's like my inspiration.
07:48How is everyone?
07:49We aren't going to have enough time, for sure.
07:50We don't have enough time?
07:51But we can probably do whatever we can.
07:52You need to make it work by five tonight.
07:53On this one, we were given no time.
07:55And so I think people were kind of going a little crazy, screaming at the sewing machines,
07:57which is not going to help.
07:58Ah!
07:59My eye was having such trauma at the machines, and I was cursing at them.
08:03You know, you're a fat c***.
08:04Jay, what?
08:05It's cool.
08:06Just chill.
08:07No, it's not cool.
08:08No, it's not cool.
08:09Yeah, I'm ten hours behind, and my c*** looks like a gay men's S&M costume costume.
08:10You need to make it work by five tonight.
08:11You need to make it work by five tonight.
08:12On this one, we were given no time.
08:13And so I think people were kind of going a little crazy, screaming at the sewing machines,
08:14which is not going to help.
08:15Ah!
08:16Oh, my eye was having such trauma at the machines, and I was cursing at them.
08:21You know, you're a fat c***.
08:23Jay, what?
08:24It's cool.
08:25Just chill.
08:26No, it's not cool.
08:27Yeah, I'm ten hours behind, and my c*** looks like a gay men's S&M costume.
08:33I went to like five machines, and they all sucked ass.
08:37You fat c***.
08:40I swear to God, these machines.
08:42Today's not the day for these things to be happening to me.
08:45Please.
08:46Please.
08:47Please.
08:48Please.
08:49Please work for me.
08:50Please.
08:51I just don't know how everybody else seems to have the perfect f***ing machine, and my
08:55thread keeps breaking.
08:56I just felt like I could not get it done, and there was such a time constraint.
08:59So then I was like, oh, no, I'm starting to freak out, and then the time ticking.
09:03I really thought, okay, I'm out.
09:05I'm out of this show.
09:09Coming up on Project Runway.
09:11I think something's going to happen at five o'clock.
09:14You're going to a party, and an additional challenge that you had.
09:19There's always a twist.
09:20Somehow there's always a twist to these challenges.
09:22For the sixth challenge, the key word was a little outfit to make a splash at a fashion
09:33party.
09:34So obviously, you know, bathing suit.
09:36We all went into this knowing it would be a challenge.
09:39There's just so many types of bathing suits.
09:41But I definitely wanted something that was a little bit evening wear.
09:45But still, I really thought it was important that it ought to be a functioning bathing suit.
09:50This is the shortest amount of time we have had to execute a challenge.
10:00The design is avant-garde classic.
10:03It's got like a tuxedo, one-piece swimsuit with like a kind of scuba-esque miniskirt covering to the bottom.
10:11The key is to like, just keep telling yourself that it's going to be incredible.
10:15As long as you keep your head, keep having your voice saying that you're going to kick ass, then you'll be able to pull it off with no mistakes.
10:28I went out and had a cigarette, and I was like, by the end of my cigarette and coming back in the elevator, I knew exactly what I had to do.
10:33So, yeah, my cigarette's my savior.
10:36They should call them a pack of saviors.
10:45Austin.
10:46Yes.
10:47Wendy.
10:48Alexandra.
10:49Kevin.
10:50Yes.
10:5115 minutes, then I'll be back and we'll have to stop.
11:03I was going to die.
11:19Something's telling me, do not die this piece.
11:22I'm serious.
11:23I think something's going to happen at five o'clock.
11:26We knew something else was coming, because we knew we had to be finished by five.
11:30So we're like, oh, my God, what is it?
11:32Are we going to a pool party?
11:33We didn't know.
11:36There's always a twist.
11:37Somehow there's always a twist to these challenges.
11:39Okay, everybody.
11:41It's the moment of truth.
11:43Stop what you're doing.
11:44Come gather around me, no matter what you're doing.
11:48This challenge was to design a swimsuit glamorous enough, sleek and sexy enough to navigate a fashion industry party.
11:57And as many of you may have already guessed, you're going to a party at Hero Cocktail Lounge at the Maritime Hotel hosted by Elle magazine.
12:05Very exciting.
12:06Wow.
12:07Oh.
12:08An important part about being a fashion designer is getting your name in the press.
12:12Richard Johnson, who is the editor of Page Six of the New York Post, is going to be in attendance at tonight's event.
12:18And an additional challenge that you have is to get his attention.
12:25At first when I heard it was Richard Johnson, I was kind of excited because I know everybody reads Page Six, like the column to read for celebrity and urban gossip.
12:34So he is going to be evaluating your performance in a social setting, and the winner will be the designer who gets his or her name printed in Richard Johnson's column.
12:43That person will have immunity next week. The rest of you will be judged on the runway.
12:49So make certain that you and your models are the celebrities tonight.
12:56Your models are going to be in momentarily.
12:58I need to go to the L'Oreal Paris hair and makeup rooms to get prepped.
13:02All right, have fun. See you later.
13:04There.
13:05Okay, mama.
13:06Look, look, look.
13:07Oh, my goodness.
13:08I'm so happy that I had her because she's, I think she's a great designer.
13:19So proud.
13:20I like the top.
13:21Luckily, I chose Melissa, who, you know, is very comfortable with her body.
13:26And she's also a very, you know, effervescent personality that would be well-suited to, you know, sort of working a party.
13:37Press is extremely important to designers.
13:39It's like a free advertisement for a designer to get his name out.
13:43If your name's out there, it's going to cause attention.
13:46People will want a piece of that.
13:56Martinique is my mom.
14:02I looked at her and I saw her as this kind of, like, bird of paradise.
14:06And so I wanted to give her these really bright colors.
14:09It's a sheared, one-piece suit.
14:13Now, sweetie, please don't be irritated with me.
14:16I've never made a thong in my life.
14:17I don't even know how to make a thong.
14:19So just bear with me, will you?
14:21I don't even know what I'm doing.
14:22Is there any way that I can have more coverage?
14:25My model said, oh, she'd rather wear her own thong.
14:30Okay.
14:32It's so small.
14:33Is it?
14:34I fitted the bathing suit on Erin and it was a bit too small.
14:37Her behind was showing a little bit.
14:39Look in the mirror.
14:44Yes.
14:45Have you ever worn a bikini that small or no?
14:46Uh-uh.
14:47No?
14:48Oh.
14:49I was a bit concerned and it was tiny and she seemed a little bit uncomfortable when she put on the bathing suit.
14:54So I was getting a little bit nervous, you know, about the party.
14:58It's going to be pretty rigged on your body, so just be prepared.
15:03I'm glad I shaved my peeing on.
15:05Oh, my God.
15:06I'm so glad I didn't bring that.
15:07I would die.
15:08Chase.
15:09It's so cold.
15:10Right there, she's coming out.
15:12Okay, here's our skirt.
15:13Yeah, take it.
15:14And then I'll...
15:15Don't lose it.
15:17What would you do if I lost it?
15:19I didn't really get Kevin's bathing suit idea.
15:38I mean, it looked like, I don't know, not like a bathing suit.
15:41If she has the skirt on, it looks just like a button down on a skirt.
15:46Also, Wendy's, I don't think is really a swimsuit at all.
15:49Sort of like a mini dress.
15:50I don't think she has what it takes.
15:52More often than not, she ends up making a mess.
15:56Oh, no.
15:59Morgan, she's my trump card.
16:02As long as she doesn't get drunk and, like, falls on the floor or something,
16:05or maybe that will make the press.
16:09Coming up on Project Runway.
16:11Model from hell, Morgan cockers and kills the world.
16:15Melissa was, like, trying to give the man an interaction.
16:26The little twist to our challenge was that we had to get the attention of Richard Johnson,
16:30the columnist for the New York Post, and wrangle a mention in his column.
16:47How are you?
16:49How are you?
16:51Richard Johnson works for Page Six, New York Post,
16:57which is actually almost like, to some New Yorkers, it's almost like a daily Bible.
17:02He's over there, but I don't know if anyone's even approached him.
17:06Jenny and I were the first people to talk to Richard.
17:10Hi, Jenny.
17:13Hi, I'm Richard.
17:14Jenny just went over and introduced herself,
17:16and they started talking about the outfit.
17:19She really knows how to work a role.
17:21Do you think it's very ready to wear?
17:23You're ready.
17:24Ready to wear.
17:25I'm going to make my designer.
17:27I'm going to make you.
17:28Isn't it?
17:29Hi.
17:30Yeah.
17:31This is my designer.
17:32I love her.
17:33How are you?
17:34Did you design this package there?
17:35Yes, I did.
17:36That's very pretty.
17:37I didn't stay and talk to him long.
17:39I just wanted to sort of make an appearance and let him see my work.
17:44I'm kind of meeting you guys though.
17:45Bye.
17:46So you're nice.
17:49So I'm Richard.
17:50Richard.
17:52Show him this bathing suit.
17:54Oh.
17:55This is scuba.
17:56That's what I think.
17:57This is great.
17:58So do you have an overriding, is there a look to what you do?
18:01Yeah.
18:02It's kind of classic and a little avant-garde.
18:05Not too much either.
18:07It was a party, and Morgan, she has great energy.
18:12And I got lucky with Morgan.
18:14He didn't get lucky like that.
18:18He's my bitch.
18:22Alright.
18:23It was a pleasure meeting you.
18:24Yeah, me too.
18:30This is my soccer mom.
18:31I call her soccer mom.
18:32Soccer mom.
18:33Good job.
18:35You have a burning desire to be a big fashion designer.
18:38Yeah.
18:39Burning is not just to dress women.
18:40You know?
18:41Yeah, yeah.
18:42I love it.
18:43You don't like them naked?
18:45I like to dress them and then undress them.
18:48Yeah, you have both doors.
18:51My inspiration comes from the classic sports car.
18:53The curvature.
18:54Yeah.
18:55The women and the classic sports car are very much alike.
18:57That's great.
18:59Yes.
19:00It was very pleasure meeting you.
19:02Very beautiful.
19:03Thank you very much.
19:04Thank you very much.
19:05You know, Botticelli had his Venus.
19:06She's mine.
19:07So I swallowed her and sort of gossamer and the winds and rain and the ocean.
19:20We just went in there and I had a glass of champagne and we're our natural selves.
19:25Austin was really being over the top and fake and I was pretty grossed out.
19:32So I said she's five, sixteen.
19:33She's a great little child.
19:34She's always just gendered.
19:35Wait a minute.
19:36Did you say you're only sixteen?
19:37Yes.
19:38Everything's with random props.
19:39She's covered up.
19:40No alcohol.
19:41Playing by the rules.
19:42It's not even legal in New York, sixteen.
19:45So have you always dreamed of being a designer?
19:46A designer?
19:47Yeah.
19:48Always.
19:49Ever since I was a little girl I've always been so passionate about it.
19:52And I mean I'm young.
19:53I'm only 22 years old.
19:54It was great meeting you.
19:55Very nice meeting you too.
19:56I really wasn't very aggressive because I'm not a very aggressive person.
20:01But I was myself.
20:02I went up and introduced myself and I think I talked a little bit about my design.
20:08Show him the good.
20:09Oh yeah, the Cartier on the side.
20:10But I couldn't think of anything else to say to him other than .
20:11What makes you mean?
20:12What makes you mean?
20:13I'm not a little girl.
20:14I'm not a little girl.
20:15I'm not a little girl.
20:16I'm so passionate about it.
20:17Really?
20:18I'm young, I'm only 22 years old.
20:19It was great meeting you.
20:20Very nice meeting you too.
20:21I really wasn't very aggressive because I'm not a very aggressive person.
20:23But I was myself.
20:24I went up and introduced myself and I think I talked a little bit about my design.
20:26You showing the good?
20:27Oh yeah, the Cartier on the side.
20:29What makes you mention someone in your column?
20:32I knew when I was saying it that it was like this is the most boring thing you could ever
20:36ask him.
20:37But I'm interested.
20:38What do you have to do to get in this stupid column?
20:40We basically write about people who deserve to be read about.
20:43You know, when it's a positive thing.
20:45I didn't have a plan and it showed, I'm sure, to him.
20:48And you're really selling that suit.
20:50Am I really?
20:51Well hopefully I'll sell it enough I'll be on the front page.
20:59Let's talk to this guy.
21:01Let's get it over with.
21:02So I finally find this guy with lights all over him.
21:06So I go, that's my guy.
21:07I'm Jesus.
21:08All right.
21:09This is Julia, by the way.
21:10Shake the man's hand.
21:12I was just being J. I was dressed as Jesus.
21:14And it worked out much better than the 30 Van Dam thing.
21:17It was pretty jovial.
21:18I kept it lighthearted and casual and fun and funny, which is the way I like to do things.
21:23Show the man the whole ordeal.
21:25You ready?
21:26Ready, Richard?
21:27All right.
21:28Nice.
21:29I like it.
21:30It's like S&M.
21:31I didn't mean it to be, you know.
21:33I didn't design it that way, but it just turned out that way and blah, blah, blah.
21:37Cheers, Julia.
21:38Pleasure meeting you both.
21:39Are we done?
21:40I guess so.
21:41All right.
21:42All right.
21:47Although it was work to like get the attention of Richard Johnson, everyone was just actually
21:51having a good time.
21:52It was nice to see everybody actually, you know, dancing and hanging out, laying back.
22:12Austin's model, Melissa, was like really flirty with Richard Johnson and she like went by
22:25herself and she started talking with him.
22:27Melissa just kind of looked like hired help for the night.
22:32She was just sitting there with her legs crossed and doing this like giggling.
22:37She just knows how to work it.
22:41She is 16 going on 35.
22:44Right when I saw Melissa talking to Richard, I told Olga, you know what?
22:48Just go, chill out with Melissa, get in there.
22:50And she strolled herself over there and started, you know, so I sat down there and I'm like,
22:53Harrison, get your girl, you know, Jenny.
22:55And Jenny went over there too.
22:56How do you do?
22:57Jenny.
22:58Tim basically said, you know, we had to do whatever it takes to get his attention
23:02and he's sort of, you know, a man's man.
23:04He likes the beautiful young ladies.
23:06And so I just let her do what she does best and let nature take its course.
23:15Melissa was probably like trying to give a man interaction.
23:23I think I should not look at her ass while the camera's on.
23:25Yeah.
23:26It's obvious to me that Melissa knows exactly what she's doing.
23:30Make a little whip off of her.
23:32If she becomes the star out of this and you don't, that won't happen.
23:44Hello, I'm ready to stop my vagina.
23:46We're in a club and it was time to go when Morgan said that she's going to a club.
24:04I said, well, I don't know if it's good to wear my outfit there.
24:08She said that she was going to change and she would take it with her.
24:13I trust her.
24:14I believe in her.
24:15I don't think I would have taken that chance.
24:17How about if something splits or she loses the top?
24:20Do you have time to sit down and make another top?
24:23You probably won't.
24:24They probably won't allow you to.
24:26Okay, we gotta go. Let's go.
24:27I'm really hoping Morgan shows up in the outfit and it's not in 52 pieces.
24:32We'll be fine.
24:34That's what I'm hoping.
24:37Here's the cab. Let's go.
24:39Ronald.
24:45Today is a runway show and one of us are going to get lemonade.
24:54Oh, this is spicy.
24:55Kevin's design really doesn't look like a bathing suit.
24:56I'm a big concern about that.
24:58Looks like a skirt and a shirt.
25:00I think Kevin could be going today maybe.
25:03Same thing with Wendy. Hers just kind of looks like a dress.
25:06How come you let her have gone out in the outfit?
25:09I'd be concerned if I was Kevin about Morgan.
25:12Hopefully she's still in New York.
25:14She's probably in Miami right now.
25:16She's like, I have a bathing suit on. Let's go to the beach.
25:19I went out to have a cigarette and Morgan's there.
25:29What happened?
25:30It ripped.
25:31Morgan, I swear to God, she was planted by like demons into this show.
25:37I don't know.
25:38You know, it's just like the fucking model from hell.
25:50I went to Marquis last night.
25:52Very late.
25:53Okay.
25:54I couldn't go back here.
25:56So I had to wear Kevin's clothes out and I ripped them.
26:00Oops.
26:05Not good.
26:06Not too good.
26:09Hey, girl.
26:11How did it suit?
26:12Good.
26:13How was that?
26:14Cool.
26:15It's fine, right?
26:16Yeah, because this binding came off a little bit right here.
26:20What's wrong?
26:22That popped off?
26:23I didn't do anything to it.
26:25But you wore it all night, so that's what's going to happen, you know?
26:28It was just like, it was fraying at the party.
26:30Wait, are you mad?
26:31Me? No.
26:32This is what it is.
26:33How's this shirt?
26:34No, what?
26:35What?
26:36Tell me.
26:37If I would have known this would have happened, I wouldn't have picked her.
26:39And I took a gamble and picked her for this, and maybe I'm wrong next time I won't.
26:44It's not cool because, you see how it's, like, coming apart?
26:50Maybe just go up and-
26:51No matter what the fuck I do, it's like, really, honestly, I'm over this.
26:54You know what I want?
26:55You know what I want?
26:56I'm so over this.
26:57I mean, you know what I want?
26:58Eliminate me.
26:59I'm done.
27:00I didn't care.
27:01I'm so over this.
27:02I guess it's like the resurrection came into the place, you know, I haven't just turned
27:03in the costume.
27:04I don't know if I'd it.
27:06What am I doing?
27:07I'm done for the-
27:08I don't know if I had to do this, but it did do this.
27:09What am I doing?
27:10And what, what, what do I do it?
27:11Oh, no, no, no, no.
27:12What am I doing?
27:13What do I do it?
27:14Oh, no, no.
27:16Oh, no, no, no, no, no.
27:17oh my god what is wrong with this thing how did i get this on how did you get this off
27:26you got it on me pretty easily it's kind of a tricky suit to get into but that's what makes
27:32it fun maybe me it's still twisted serious hey guys we got it the damage was done
27:42reincarnates reincarnates
28:12we have 60 seconds until the runway show coming up on project runway
28:22it doesn't really look like a bathing suit to me
28:27you're killing me here i mean it's just my personal belief
28:31just because it happens doesn't mean it's right
28:34welcome back to the runway seven of you remain and as you know this competition is just as
28:43cutthroat as the fashion business itself one day you're in and the next day you're out
28:50at the end of tonight one of you will be out
28:53this week's challenge was to design a bathing suit take your model to a fashion industry party
28:59and make a splash the judges will be scoring your designs as they come down the runway
29:04you will be judged on the innovation of your design and your ability to make a name for
29:09yourself in the press and the winner of this challenge will have a guaranteed in for the
29:15next challenge and cannot be eliminated and one of you will be out now let's meet the judges
29:25siemens
29:26constance white fashion journalist and style director of ebay and slow he fashion news director of l magazine
29:33and richard johnson head of new york post's famous page six
29:38let's start the show
29:41I definitely wanted something that was
29:50you know a little bit dressy but could certainly be worn
29:54in the pool I was certainly very happy with the way it came out
29:58Morgan tore it a little bit
30:08but it looked great up there she made it look great
30:11and when she's on stage it's her show
30:15I did that one piece bathing suit not just for these like size 2-4
30:28women but like also these size 12-14 women you can also feel comfortable
30:32in the bathing suit that I designed because you know not everyone's like a toothpick
30:38it's essentially tarted up for the purposes of this challenge
30:47but I believe that what you cover says more about you than what you reveal
30:52I liked my bathing suit with my top and the fringe
31:07and when we went to the party it seemed like everybody loved it
31:10it was just a simple bathing suit but I added the gold you know to make it more of a party outfit
31:36I dressed it up a bit it's very very tiny
31:40but I'm used to the tiny bathing suits those are the bathing suits I wear
31:43I just kind of made two black band-aids with dental floss wrapped around it with two little rings
32:01which ended up looking like an S&M outfit
32:04but it all came together somehow and I I'm pleased with it
32:11we've tallied your scores I want to ask all the designers to please step onto the runway
32:28on to the runway
32:37Kara-san
32:39please step forward
32:41you haven't won
32:43but you have a guaranteed in
32:45because you won last week's challenge
32:47please leave the runway
32:49six of you remain
32:57you represent the best
32:59and the worst
33:02we will discuss your designs
33:06and how you handled yourself
33:08with Richard Johnson last night
33:10one of you will be the winner
33:15and one of you will be out
33:20let's bring out your models
33:22Robert, I was wondering if you could explain to me again the similarity between fast cars and fashion models
33:40I mean it's just my personal belief but I believe a woman and a classic sports car are very much alike
33:47what?
33:48meaning in my
33:49in my class
33:50well you always notice most most car collectors always name their cars after women
33:54well just because it happens doesn't mean it's right
33:57Jay, tell us about your design
34:00kind of like sporty gypsy future something
34:04it's kind of how I usually always work
34:06techno bohemian is what I
34:08is pretty much how it goes
34:09techno bohemian
34:11now Jay, you're a very flamboyant character
34:14mmm, sometimes
34:16and fashion is a business
34:18I'm trying to picture you in like four seasons at lunch at a very serious business meeting
34:25do you have what it takes to do the business end of it?
34:29mmm, you're killing me here
34:31um, sure as long as there's a booster seat for me so I can act like a child
34:42Alexandra, tell me a bit about what you were thinking when you did it
34:46I was influenced a lot by Missoni fabrics
34:49it has kind of like a Missoni feeling
34:51and also actually you know the bikini that Michael Kors did for Celine with the chains with the gold
34:57that inspired me a lot so I was thinking you know that kind of look
35:01you've been a little more creative with what you did
35:06Hauston
35:08and can you tell me a bit about your creation please
35:12sort of the first sort of imagery that came to my mind was sort of a water nymph
35:17like a Venus sort of ascending from the wave so I sort of swathed her in winds and waters
35:24and it was also very important for me that it actually be a wearable workable bathing suit
35:30very Esther Williams
35:32thank you
35:33again glamorous but entirely swimmable
35:36Kevin, is yours entirely swimmable?
35:38yeah, it's made for swimming
35:40it's stretch
35:41it's stretch
35:43swimsuit
35:45it doesn't really look like a bathing suit to me
35:47it doesn't look it because it has the sleeves
35:49but the sleeves can be rolled up
35:51it's a full body
35:52suit
35:53and this is a scuba
35:56neoprene skirt
35:58and do you think you made a good impression last night?
36:00or was there something you would have done different?
36:02I think I was good
36:04maybe
36:05I was good
36:07I was good
36:08I was good
36:09I think
36:10Wendy, can you tell me a little bit about your suit and your design?
36:14I tried to make a sort of colorful top
36:18and have a system where if you know she wanted to hide her upper thighs she could
36:23the only thing I have a question about
36:25is it more of a dress than a suit?
36:28and once this fabric gets wet
36:30how flattering is that going to be?
36:32and what does happen underneath?
36:34is there a bottom that is like that you made as well?
36:36like a bikini bottom or?
36:38she is wearing a thong
36:40because I made a thong for her
36:45but the elastic that I used
36:48what we couldn't adjust it in time
36:51so we used a thong that she had
36:53just so that she could make it to the party
36:59okay thank you
37:00please leave the runway
37:01and we are going to call you back shortly
37:03Richard, I want to know who was the most news worthiest?
37:16I think Austin made a very good presentation
37:19he is very sort of outgoing and very talkative, very extroverted
37:24and Jay is a tremendous character as well
37:27I think the two of them were pretty much neck and neck in my opinion
37:30my favorite suit was Jay's suit
37:32yeah, it was very Gucci-esque
37:34you know, I thought that was great
37:35but you also liked Robert as well
37:37yeah, Robert I thought was very sort of self-confident
37:40he was relaxed
37:42he talked about himself very easily
37:44I wasn't really keen on his suit at all
37:49I feel Constance is going to come up with that one
37:51yeah, you got to be careful
37:53she has a feminazi
37:54Wendy didn't really make much of an impression
37:57I think somebody mentioned to me that there was like a mom from Virginia that was part of it
38:01it would have worked better for her if she had told that story
38:04and I had a problem technically with her bathing suit
38:06because it was missing the under part
38:08the actual bathing girdle, you know
38:15I didn't think Alexandra's suit was very interesting either
38:18I mean...
38:19also how original was it?
38:20she explained to us exactly who she copied
38:22no creativity
38:28what do you guys think about Kevin?
38:30I asked him a couple questions
38:31and he had a chance to, you know
38:33sort of defend himself
38:34and talk about how great he is
38:35and he sort of muffed it I thought
38:37first I thought that that is not a bathing suit
38:39because I thought it was just cotton
38:41and you know, it was kind of like loosey-goosey with a skirt
38:44I couldn't figure it out
38:45I mean this time it's really rough
38:48okay let's bring out the designers
38:55this was a particular difficult one across the board
39:10as you know, the winner of this challenge is the person who designed the best swimsuit
39:25and made the best impression on Richard Johnson
39:28and two of you made a very strong impact
39:34Jay and Austin
39:37it's between the two of you
39:39and you will find out tomorrow morning in the New York Post on page 6
39:45which of you is the winner
39:47you both can use the runway
39:49if I do get in page 6 I know it's because I was real and I was funny and I was myself
40:04we weren't whoring like it seemed like Austin and Melissa were us
40:08Robert
40:11you still in
40:15please leave the runway
40:17the three of you remain
40:27two will be in
40:29and one will be out
40:32Wendy
40:39you still in
40:43please leave the runway
40:45when she said I was in
40:50I just breathed a huge sigh of relief
40:53because I thought I was going to be eliminated
40:55Alexandra and Kevin
41:05it's between the two of you
41:08Alexandra
41:12you relied on other designers to find your inspiration
41:15and it lacks originality
41:17Kevin
41:19your design didn't look enough like a swimsuit
41:22Kevin
41:29yes
41:30you're still in
41:33please leave the runway
41:35Alexandra
41:40that means you're out
41:42you need to find your own path in this business
41:46and not turn to other designers for inspiration
41:50okay
