00:00Previously on Project Runway.
00:04This challenge, you are going to use the clothes off your back to fabricate your design.
00:13It was like the record was skipping.
00:15I, for the last three years, have had my own little studio boutique.
00:19I've just closed my shop, which is kind of sad.
00:21Of course, right?
00:23I'm mostly competitive with myself.
00:25I always want to be the winner.
00:26I always want to be on top.
00:27I cut when I'll start.
00:29Oh, s**t.
00:30I know it's very bad.
00:33That's a situation.
00:34Andre, you're still in the dress form?
00:36This is a little alarming.
00:43Andre, what were you thinking?
00:46The coat.
00:46I wore it because I was really tired and it reflected my emotion.
00:51I don't need to hear all this.
00:53I just want to see it.
00:54I'm sorry, I'm sorry, it's all right.
00:56Chloe, you are the winner of this challenge.
00:58Santino, you're in.
01:01They just didn't want to give me two in a row.
01:03Andre, you're in.
01:04I really like her.
01:07That means cursing you out.
01:10Auf Wiedersehen.
01:10At stake for the winner of Project Runway is a fashion spread in Elle magazine, a mentorship
01:17with the Banana Republic design team, a 2007 Saturn Sky Roadster, and $100,000 courtesy
01:24of Saturn to start your own line.
01:26This is Project Runway.
01:28This is Project Runway.
01:29Let's get it on.
01:30To search for the next big fashion designer.
01:32This is a dream come true.
01:34I'm going to do whatever it takes to win.
01:3616 designers.
01:37Everyone here is crazy.
01:39Drama has to happen.
01:40Yes, I'm a competitive person.
01:42Three finalists will make it to Olympus Fashion Week.
01:45You will see me at Fashion Week.
01:46But only one can be the winner.
01:48Heck yeah, I'm going to win this.
01:50For these 16 designers, Project Runway is a chance of a lifetime.
02:01Are we?
02:04We have like 30 minutes to be downstairs.
02:11Oh, sad.
02:13I won the close off the bag challenge.
02:16It felt great because it was a humongous validation.
02:18I'm sad Kirsten's gone, but you know, I don't think she was the most talented out of all
02:24of them.
02:25I mean, based on who's been eliminated so far, I just think it's been correct.
02:30I've got a looper, baby.
02:31I think we have to change rooms around.
02:33You just have a lot of nervous tension, and it's exuding out, and I don't think you're
02:37handling things in a way that was appropriate.
02:40It's your nervous tension that you're projecting onto me.
02:43I'm so sorry to say to me this.
02:45I have been a nervous wreck.
02:48Oh, goodness.
02:50You can say it however you'd like, girl.
02:52I think Kara, you know, has a tendency to have these elaborate blowouts.
02:57Just nervousness.
02:59It's just a disturbance, and I don't respect people who try and disturb other people.
03:03Do not cry on national television for all of this evening.
03:07Who wants to bet a beer that he cries again?
03:11I'm sorry.
03:12I'm sorry.
03:13I'm sorry.
03:13I'm sorry.
03:14I will not be crying.
03:16I've been getting a lot of teasing, which I think is fair.
03:20Crying on the runway, not something that I relish ever doing again because I don't like
03:25to think of myself as weak.
03:27They thought us fags would take so long to get ready.
03:30Crying on the runway, not something that I don't like to think of myself, but I don't
03:37know what to say.
03:38Hey, everyone.
03:38Hey, guys.
03:40Are you ready for your next challenge?
03:42Yes.
03:42You're going to like this one, I promise.
03:45You will be designing an outfit for one of fashion's most important and stylish icons.
03:56And Tim is going to take you on a field trip to meet her, and you will find out more
04:00than you.
04:01You got it?
04:02Yeah.
04:02Yeah.
04:03Got it.
04:04Okay.
04:05Let's bring out the winning designer's model and the eliminated designer's model.
04:10Melissa and Grace.
04:16Models, this also is a competition for you as well.
04:19The model paired with the winner of Project Runway will get a fashion spread in Elle magazine.
04:24Chloe, you won the last challenge, and your model was Grace.
04:32If you decide to stay with her, Melissa will be out.
04:35If you decide not to choose either of these two, I will bring out all the models for you
04:40to pick from.
04:41What do you want to do?
04:42I'm going to decide between Grace and Melissa.
04:51Melissa, I'm so sorry, but Grace has just been amazingly graceful.
04:55So, Grace, would you be my model still?
04:56Grace, that means you're in.
04:57Congratulations.
04:58You can leave the runway.
04:59Melissa, that means you're out.
05:00I'll be there soon.
05:02Bye.
05:03Bye.
05:04Bye.
05:05Bye.
05:06All right.
05:07You have your models.
05:08You almost have your challenge.
05:09Have fun on your field trip, and I'll see you on the runway.
05:26Bye.
05:27Bye.
05:28Kirsten.
05:29Kirsten.
05:30A real icon is Diana Vreeland.
05:33Yeah.
05:34I thought of a lot of names.
05:35I thought of Gwyneth Paltrow.
05:37I would love for it to have been Grace Jones.
05:40Linda Evangelista.
05:41Let's see, who else could it be?
05:44An American actress?
05:46Good morning, everybody.
05:48Good morning.
05:49Good morning.
05:50How are you?
05:51Well, as Heidi told you, you are designing for a fashion icon.
05:56And this is a big fashion icon.
06:00Oh.
06:01Even more exciting is the fact that you're going to be meeting this icon at her house.
06:05Wow.
06:06Yeah.
06:07Wow.
06:08Very thrilling.
06:09Yeah.
06:10So we're going to take a walk.
06:11So everybody, gather your things and follow me.
06:14Okay?
06:15Yeah.
06:16We started walking up the street, and it was very, very strange in the time.
06:25This is a bizarre way to meet a fashion icon.
06:29So I'm going to go, well, maybe she lives now.
06:31Bye.
06:32And we just kept walking.
06:33And then we kept walking.
06:34And we kept walking.
06:35So please look around at where we are.
06:38We are in the center of the universe, so to speak.
06:42We're in Times Square.
06:44God, I knew I should have worn a better outfit.
06:47This is where we're going.
06:48Toys are out.
06:49Hi, buddy.
06:50No way.
06:51I did.
06:52No way.
06:53When I saw his store, I was actually a little worried.
06:56All right, Sam.
06:57Lead the way.
06:58Hi, Piper.
07:05We're still debating Sarah Jessica Parker.
07:07It has to be her.
07:08It has to be her.
07:09Somebody was thinking Alicia Keys.
07:10We totally still thought it was someone that was famous.
07:12Hi.
07:13Hi.
07:14Hi.
07:15Hi.
07:16Hi.
07:17Hi.
07:18Hi.
07:19Hi.
07:20Hi.
07:21Hi.
07:22Hi.
07:23Hi.
07:24Welcome to Toys R U Times Square.
07:25This is your fashion icons house.
07:26Barbie.
07:27I'm so excited.
07:28I played with Barbie.
07:29My mom played with Barbie.
07:30My sisters played with Barbie.
07:32Thank you for this accommodation.
07:34Hi.
07:35Hi, guys.
07:36designer for Mattel who is going to present you with your next challenge we
07:41have the my scene Barbie doll line it's for really an older girl that aspires to
07:46be a teenager basically my scene Barbie is all about fashion fun and friendship
07:52we have a couple of other dolls that each have their distinct personalities
07:56and then we have Barbie who is the social director and she's she's the
08:01trendsetter of the bunch so your challenge you guys is to come up with a
08:06special new look for my scene Barbie life-size for your model this challenge
08:11is a test of your creative vision I'm a boy that's played with dolls all my life
08:18you know it'd be great to win this one I think this is gonna be kind of difficult
08:22because it's so diverse Barbie dresses in every style there is she's everything to
08:26everybody into every girl you may have noticed that there are 13 dolls here
08:30there's one for each of you the doll will serve as your muse while Tim and
08:34Lily were talking I was like scoping out who you know I got my first choice and I
08:39got my second choice just in case somebody won't take it have fun be
08:42creative so come forward and choose a doll it was a mad race it became like sort
08:51of like crazy because everybody was pushing to try to get to their doll weird
08:57grabbed our lives and I thought for certain that we'd have to do something
09:01very much in the vein of the doll that we that we picked this people are crazy
09:07you're not designing based on that one Barbie you got you're designing on every
09:11Barbie this is our muse and what other outfit would she want you need to design from from scratch based
09:30on your ideas we could jumble these all up they could all be mixed around hey listen speaking of
09:35jumbling things up and mixing things around we change the clothes no where's Kara
09:38she was just shaking her Barbie and then the head flew out and it fell into the side of the
09:52escalator what is she in some wild panic I've never known so much commotion for a Barbie's
10:08hat but since she is my muse and since I do like hats I wanted the damn hat coming up on project runway
10:18oh no I mean I can do this if you tell me how to do it tomorrow well she's really weak you know what it's come undone
10:33the challenge was to design an outfit for the new Barbie which is my scene Barbie my scene Barbie it's all about being seen I think that's why she's called my scene Barbie because it's all about her all right you have 30 minutes to sketch
10:46to work out your designs and then we're going to go shopping so use the 30 minutes wisely and you have two days to finish this task
10:53when I was young and my sister had her Barbie I'm sure I probably put the outfits together better than my sister I thought about it in the box colors the shape of it and how would it pop out in the box
11:13well this way she's got a little fringe action going on that's Miss Texas yeah exactly Miss Western
11:20I wanted my expression to be colorful feminine and frivolous I don't like all this idea of little dolls being overly made up my little girl in my head she would look like her mom but at the same time you know bring her up to the latest trends
11:28here right below me
11:35we got it guys I love you
11:37you're flying the Barbie the hat went flying and it got caught between the escalator and the wall I didn't have as much time to sketch as the rest of them
11:43Cara she went back to Toys R Us she cut into her sketching time by going to get that little hat she has to think about the design
11:50hi everybody we're going shopping ready to go off we go
11:57for the Barbie challenge we received $150 we had two days to complete the challenge
12:04I'm glad you're swatching you can just give me a swatch that has some pink in it
12:07I'm glad you're swatching you could just give me a swatch that has some pink in it
12:12For the Barbie challenge, we received $150.
12:20We had two days to complete the challenge.
12:23I'm glad you're swatching.
12:24You could just give me a swatch that has some pink in it.
12:29Yeah, I really like the psychedelic one.
12:31I feel strong about this.
12:33Yeah, I'm really playing with mixing.
12:35I will say you look a little disabled by this.
12:39I'm a little overwhelmed.
12:40There's a lot of choices.
12:41Not only do I have to pull this together in 45 minutes,
12:45but I've got to assess what's there.
12:51Cara, we have 10 minutes.
12:54That's it.
12:55You look like you're in good shape.
12:56Yeah, I'm in good shape.
12:59Sorry, baby.
12:59One yard of that, eh?
13:01One and a half yard and a two, please.
13:05Cara, time's up.
13:07They're just cutting, Tim.
13:07I swear to you.
13:08Here she is, my muse.
13:20The challenge is to design an actual life-size garment for your model inspired by the Mycene
13:26Barbie.
13:26This is my Barbie, and she's my inspiration.
13:30And she sort of gives me sort of a Telemundo Copacabana chick.
13:36I found this great jersey fabric.
13:38I'm going to do the apple green, this sort of emerald, and then layer it like this.
13:42When I think of Barbie, I think of pink, and every girl likes pink.
13:54That is gorgeous fabric.
13:56And it's beautiful.
13:58Oh.
13:58I'm making a garment that has a very large hood on it, so they can kind of pull the hood
14:03down and style it as a collar.
14:06You're doing Barbie couture for sure.
14:08It's going to be a combination of knit and woven fabrics going on simultaneously to give, like, fit and flair.
14:18I always want to be the best, and anything less than the best, I feel like a complete, total failure.
14:27One piece here for bust, and then one piece here for shoulder.
14:30One, two seams.
14:32Simplify, simplify.
14:33You just want to have the pleats here, but just, like, just break this out.
14:37Yeah, I didn't want them there, although I kind of don't mind having them there, too.
14:40You won't be pretty there, Marla.
14:41It just shows that you're not good at draping.
14:44I'm not good at draping.
14:45I'm really self-taught.
14:47There are opportunities I've missed out on by raising my son and being in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
14:53I think I'm a little insecure because I haven't had formal training.
14:56Where do I put the access?
14:58I can't do this.
14:59I can do this.
15:00Okay, okay.
15:00No, no, I mean, I can do this if you tell me how to do it.
15:02In this group, it's all about having talent or skill.
15:06You know, you really shouldn't be here if you don't know how to put a garment together.
15:10Hey, mark your center front.
15:12Mark my center front.
15:12Which you haven't really done, which is bad.
15:14Oh, I pressed it in.
15:15Yeah, but you're not even on your center front.
15:18I don't worry that Marla doesn't have as much experience.
15:22She's a pretty successful woman.
15:24I think she's taking a new direction now by pursuing a more creative bend.
15:29Thanks for the lesson.
15:31She can't handle this challenge, technically.
15:35There's no way she's going to handle the next challenge.
15:38Mark your center front.
15:39Smooth it down.
15:40Rotate the access.
15:41How is everyone?
15:53Hi.
15:54Hi.
15:56Ramundo.
15:57What are you doing?
15:58I'm finished already cutting pretty much the whole dress, so start to drape and finish the jacket.
16:03Now, the jacket's out of this?
16:05No, the jacket's out of this.
16:06Oh, it's out of that?
16:08Yeah.
16:08I just will say there's an awful lot happening.
16:11It's more about the jacket, I think, for me this time.
16:14Uh-huh.
16:15All right.
16:16The jacket meaning what?
16:17I'm ambivalent about that fabric with this.
16:20I took the characteristics of my scene Barbie, and I put it into my perspective.
16:24I don't believe that all this idea about making little girls start looking, you know, pretty grown up already at such a young age.
16:32Little girls should have a chance to be little girls.
16:35I think it's to Barbie's mom.
16:36Oh, then fix that.
16:37I am, I am.
16:38I'm going to skimp it up.
16:38Don't let that happen.
16:39I'm going to skimp it up.
16:40I'm going to shorten it, and this will make it more youthful.
16:43Once it's looped through this, each of them is actually really cute looking.
16:46What's happening here with the seam?
16:50That was, you're so good.
16:51You don't miss anything.
16:52If the skirt started out, it was going to maybe have some seaming detail, and then I realized I was maybe asking for trouble.
16:58All of this speaks to incredible potential.
17:01You're not there yet.
17:02Okay.
17:02Everybody, you still have an hour and 15 minutes.
17:06I will see you in the morning.
17:18Did you figure out the iron?
17:20Just pull it.
17:22Cool.
17:23That's all I needed.
17:24This can be unfolded, though, because that's curvy.
17:26I'm worried about the possibility of going home.
17:28I think I have talent, and I'm good.
17:30And if I'm eliminated from this challenge, I'll be disappointed.
17:38Coming up on Project Runway.
17:40I just used elastic thread to f***ing have my dress.
17:44Claudia, I got to show you in it.
17:46Daniel, this is it.
17:48What?
17:53Day two of the My Scene Barbie Challenge is such a diverse idea of what Barbie should wear.
17:58I think it's a very tough challenge.
18:05Everybody, can I ask you to gather around, please?
18:09With a special surprise.
18:12Lily has come to visit us.
18:14Hi, guys.
18:15Hi.
18:16I'm back.
18:17But I have a surprise to tell you guys.
18:19So, in addition to the life-size fashion outfit you guys are creating, we would like you guys
18:26to replicate it for the My Scene Barbie in miniature.
18:29Hi.
18:32And there's more.
18:34Mattel will reproduce the winning doll to be sold in limited quantities as a special edition
18:40with your name and picture on the box.
18:43Wow.
18:44Very cool.
18:46As a designer, you know, to have my work put out there in the international markets is something
18:53so spectacular because you go from step one and then you go to, like, step 300, you know.
18:59Thank you, Lily.
19:00Thank you, Mattel.
19:01Thank you, guys.
19:02We have to make a little miniature version for the doll.
19:08That's time-consuming.
19:09It's time away from my main outfit.
19:16Marla, you know, she wears a big, shiny, tacky badge of being self-taught.
19:24You've got your small, limited bag of tricks.
19:27Work it out, girl.
19:28Oh, my God.
19:32What's going on?
19:37Uh-huh.
19:37Which is the needle thread that we need to watch the knot for?
19:40The needle thread is the far left.
19:43Cool.
19:46All right.
19:47Yes, it is.
19:48You know what?
19:49Wow.
19:51It's come undone.
19:53I'm not changing the thread.
19:55During the construction of a garment, we'll step back a foot, two feet, five, ten feet.
20:06It's perspective on the design.
20:09When one goes to a museum and you're looking at a Monet, for example, and you come up to
20:14it and you can see the brush strokes, but then you step back and you see the whole picture.
20:17The Daniel Frankel shuffle, when he designed, he actually looks at it, pin it on, walks away,
20:23dance a little bit.
20:25For me, I think he should be able to kind of just, like, put it on and step back and look
20:31at it and go, next one.
20:32The constant walk back, I think it's a little too much.
20:35It works for him.
20:37It wastes a lot of time.
20:47Hello, everybody.
20:48What's up, Tim?
20:48How are you doing?
20:49Nick.
20:50Yes.
20:51How are you feeling?
20:52Okay.
20:53Yeah.
20:54Just okay?
20:55I'm good, good.
20:56You should feel really good.
20:57Okay.
20:57You should feel really good.
20:59Okay.
21:00How are you finishing these arms?
21:02I'm actually going to do that little, uh, stretch.
21:04Uh, little edges.
21:06Like an even fringe?
21:07Yeah, exactly.
21:08Is this finished enough?
21:09Is this not deconstruction?
21:11That's controlled.
21:11Exactly.
21:12I'm worried that it's too grown up.
21:15I'll let you think about how to resolve that.
21:18Kara, this is really cute.
21:21I'm just going to give it a nice little rib trim.
21:24Yeah, I think it looks like happy hands at home.
21:27I changed a hat from a sun hat.
21:28It's cuter.
21:30You did it.
21:31High five.
21:33Wow.
21:35That's some skirt, Andre.
21:37There she is.
21:38I wanted this to kind of look like she'd bought a vintage dress and chopped it up herself.
21:43And I still wanted it to be sporty, so she's got a little hoodie.
21:47I'm just thinking about the runway dialogue, the potential runway dialogue.
21:51Yes, okay.
21:52Andre, can I see you for a minute?
21:56Oh, no, no.
21:57It's not going to take more than a couple of minutes.
21:58I just have to tell you, I was concerned about the behavior that was demonstrated last time on the runway.
22:06I have to say, I felt you were fueling the emotions.
22:19It just seemed almost like a contrivance.
22:22I was seriously emotional, but I don't want to ever appear vulnerable.
22:28You're extremely intelligent, and God knows you're extremely talented.
22:32Use that runway dialogue to demonstrate all that.
22:37Well, thank you.
22:38I'm basically not afraid of my emotions.
22:41I allow them to occur, I guess, as they come to me.
22:44But I feel really good about my designs.
22:47I'm ready for whatever the judges throw at me.
22:49Everybody, we have 19 minutes left tonight.
22:53That's it.
22:54And I just don't want you to make any assumptions about how much time you'll have tomorrow.
22:59It's going to be a really tight day.
23:02Okay?
23:04So, work hard and carry on.
23:11I need to make the little top for my Barbie.
23:14I need to keep it clean.
23:19Just keep it clean.
23:20Exactly.
23:20Yeah, that's what I thought, too.
23:34Okay, if Daniel comes close to finishing, he's still going to be on the chopping block.
23:39I like mine better than Emmett.
23:40Marla's hurting.
23:41Stop grasping at straws.
23:44Just give up.
23:45She's got some wickety-wack trim on it.
23:47She's going to take off her jacket, and there's going to be wickety-wack.
23:53Look at my wickety-wack trim.
23:55I mean, really?
23:57Oh, my gosh.
24:07The workroom and the sewing room is going to be crazy today.
24:09We also have to get our models ready with hair and makeup.
24:12It's going to be madness.
24:13I'm a little nervous, but I really have no idea what the outcome will be.
24:16Just a little nervous because I feel like I could have done more to my outfit.
24:20You know the drill.
24:27We're bringing in the models.
24:29You go to the Theresa May hair salon.
24:30You go to the L'Oreal Paris makeup room.
24:33We have exactly two hours.
24:35And we are now in possession of 13 long, blonde, Barbie-like wigs.
24:43You don't have to do it, but I want to encourage you to do it.
24:47All right?
24:47Make it work.
24:49Let's do it.
24:49You can't take this on and off.
24:51I need to try this skirt on you really quickly.
24:53The jacket is the main point of the outfit now.
24:56I'm the one that's least finished in the whole room.
24:59Okay?
24:59So I have a lot of work to do.
25:01So remember what we did last time where you're taking care of the hair,
25:03checking the makeup?
25:04I need you again to kick in.
25:05When the models came in, I was frantic.
25:09I was so pressed for time.
25:11What about a thing around your neck?
25:13Here's the jacket.
25:14I think I have to nix the jacket.
25:16Marla is grasping at straws.
25:18She's just like, I can't believe she's even made it this far.
25:23Would you wear anything like this?
25:25No.
25:28Oh, great.
25:30No wonder.
25:32F***.
25:33Just use elastic thread to f*** him like dress.
25:37You have still an hour and eight minutes.
25:42All right.
25:42No wonder it looks so s***.
25:52Daniel.
25:53Yep.
25:53You're almost completely on the ground.
25:55What are you doing?
25:56I jumped on a machine and had elastic thread in the bobbin.
25:59There's elastic thread in the bobbin?
26:00In the bobbin.
26:01So I messed up my whole hem, so I'm cutting it out.
26:03All right, Daniel.
26:04The dress looks sensational on Tim.
26:06It's a sight to see.
26:08Okay.
26:08All right, good.
26:09I can't wait to see it.
26:11Yeah, I'm definitely going to cut it up through here.
26:19It's a little intense.
26:20I'm trying to finish off this dress.
26:23I'm not going home.
26:24I'm just not.
26:25Everybody, you have 20 minutes.
26:29All right?
26:3020.
26:30She doesn't look like Barbie.
26:41She never will look like Barbie.
26:42Um, not the blonde Barbie.
26:45You know, I dare a judge to say, oh, I think she would have looked better with a blonde wig.
26:54About to sew you in it.
26:57I'm going to start clipping threads and start sewing you in, okay?
26:59So up until the last second, I was, uh, setting the sleeve on the model, uh, clipping threads
27:06and making sure the silhouette was right.
27:09Daniel.
27:11This is it.
27:12What?
27:14Come with me.
27:15Both of you.
27:17I'm going to do the best I can.
27:19Hopefully it's something compelling enough that the judges will keep me in.
27:24Coming up on Project Runway.
27:25There's nothing deliciously girly about her.
27:32To me, she's a little sad.
27:41Hello.
27:43Hi.
27:44Welcome to the runway.
27:45As you know, in fashion, one day you're in, and the next day you're out.
27:51There are 13 of you now, and at the end of tonight, there will be 12.
27:59Your challenge was to design a special look for a fashion icon.
28:05Barbie.
28:05We gave you $150 and two days to complete your look for your model and a miniature version
28:12for your Barbie.
28:14The winning designer will have their Barbie look manufactured and sold as a special edition
28:21by Mattel.
28:22This challenge is about creative vision, and that's what we'll be judging tonight.
28:29Let's meet the judges.
28:33Fashion designer Michael Kors, Nina Garcia, fashion director of Elle magazine, and Lily Martinez,
28:41the head designer for My Scene Barbie.
28:43We will be scoring your designs as they come down the runway.
28:46The designer with the highest score will win this challenge.
28:52And one of you will be out.
28:54Let's start the show.
29:01I'd be really, really happy if I won this one.
29:04I was trying to create something that looked like a confection.
29:07Looked hip and cute and frilly and girly, but a little sassy, too.
29:13For the Barbie challenge, for the most part, I felt pretty confident that I had finished
29:19and completed the job.
29:20It was cute.
29:21It was fun.
29:22It was Barbie.
29:33I actually, for a moment, thought, I could see that in a box, because it was flowing.
29:37It had that glittering mirror effect.
29:39It was a good feeling.
29:43I picked a very swirly print.
29:52I thought about it in the box.
29:53It's got to grab the little girl's attention.
29:55Winning this Barbie challenge would, of course, be amazing, but I'm not sure if the judges
30:11are looking for the more sophisticated look that I'm giving them.
30:14I was very, very happy.
30:25It actually looked really, really good.
30:27Every time I get onto that runway, I get nervous.
30:39But you know what?
30:40You've got to just really believe and be confident in what you've done.
30:44I really liked the outfit.
30:45I really thought it was great.
30:47I was happy with what I saw on the runway.
31:03I was very frilly, and I think a young girl would be very attracted to that look.
31:08I have my own particular personality that I bring to my outfit.
31:17I'm fairly happy with what I did, and I have no clue what kind of response I'm going to
31:22get.
31:23I could be out.
31:24Who knows?
31:25Hope not.
31:26I'm trying to make a statement here, and I'm hoping that the judges will see my idea
31:36on what I think little girls should be wearing.
31:48When you're able to manifest what was in your head, it's probably the most rewarding
31:56experience you can have as a designer.
32:02When I saw my look coming down the runway, I was really satisfied.
32:05Her hair turned out great with the wig.
32:07I felt like I was really able to pull it together.
32:19When I saw Claudia walk down, I thought, gosh, she looks so cool, you know?
32:24She looks so perfectly sophisticated, and I was really happy about that.
32:41Designers, we've tallied your scores.
32:44Please come onto the runway.
32:45If I call your name, please step forward.
33:00Guadalupe.
33:03Daniel Vosovic.
33:07Zuleima.
33:12Emmett.
33:12Diana.
33:20Daniel Franco.
33:27If I have called your name, you can leave the runway.
33:32Your scores were high enough for the next round.
33:46The six remaining designers have the highest and the lowest scores.
33:51We will bring out your models and ask you some questions about your designs.
33:56One of you will be named the winner, and one of you will be out.
34:02Let's bring out your models.
34:03I love to start with you, as always.
34:17Want to start?
34:18Okay.
34:20Let's see.
34:21Santino.
34:22I grew up with 3,000 Barbie dolls in my house.
34:25I played with Barbies.
34:27I dressed Barbies.
34:28It's the whole lifestyle of Barbie I know very well.
34:32So, this is what I created.
34:35I think you did an amazing job.
34:36I really like the color.
34:38Very girl appealing.
34:42I have actually a question for Andre.
34:45Why didn't you put a wig on your model?
34:47First of all, put a blonde wig on this gorgeous girl.
34:51You might notice the wig and the fact that it is definitely not the way her hair comes out of her head.
34:58I looked at her more because she didn't have the hair.
35:03My scene Barbie seems to be about individualism, and I wanted to honor that as well.
35:08I think you read into everything, like a lot.
35:11It's fashion.
35:12It's fashion.
35:14Lighten up.
35:14Lighten up, you know?
35:16Lighten up.
35:17She's blonde here.
35:20And I think the dress still works.
35:23I think it's a little, you know, on the couture side.
35:27And she is, you know, she's a little 16, 18-year-old.
35:30Well, my job is not to change her mind.
35:32I did what I think is great.
35:34Fine.
35:34And I'm really happy.
35:35And we're just telling you our opinion.
35:37I still, wow, I disagree.
35:40Like, I can't even say.
35:42Kara, tell me about your Barbie.
35:48I really just went with that whole sort of young sense of fun and feeling.
35:55I don't see her, like, going on a night out with her girlfriends.
35:58Do you know what I mean?
35:59She looks like she might be going to school.
36:01It, to me, looks like a fabulous children's wear project.
36:05I know little girls who would wear that exactly as we see it.
36:11Nick, tell me about your Barbie.
36:14You know, I have a niece.
36:15And I was thinking of what would I, as Uncle Nick, would buy for her.
36:18Now, granted, I'm a different type of Uncle Nick.
36:21So I thought I looked around.
36:24I looked around at all the other Mycene Barbie dolls.
36:27And I thought what was missing was sort of this young, hip daughter of a European mogul
36:32who went to Capri, and she hangs out with her girlfriends.
36:36So that was my whole mood.
36:38I like your details.
36:40Colors work.
36:41You know what else?
36:41She looks like a life-size doll.
36:43She sells you the whole thing.
36:45I think it's cute, really cute.
36:48I want to ask Raimundo, where is your Barbie going?
36:52So I'm from the West Coast.
36:53So I, right away, I started thinking of Surfer Girl.
36:56So I'm thinking she's ready to go out to the beach.
36:59She's ready for the summer.
37:00And, you know, I kept the fun with the colors.
37:02To me, she looks like Mycene Barbie's mother.
37:05It's actually really kind of weird that you said mother, because what I kept on thinking
37:08too was, you know, a little girl's dream also sometimes is to be like her mother.
37:14It doesn't look like a Halloween tablecloth.
37:17It's tableclothy to me.
37:19I don't know.
37:19There's nothing deliciously girly about her.
37:26Marla, let's ask you a few questions.
37:28Why this color?
37:29She's a little overdone, and she's trying to be maybe a little bit more grown up than
37:33she is.
37:34And, yeah, she's kind of fancy.
37:37To me, she's a little sad.
37:40I mean, that's my reaction.
37:42I agree with Michael.
37:43It's a very serious color.
37:45I mean, she's supposed to be 16.
37:47It's supposed to be hip and cool.
37:49Okay, guys, you can leave the runway.
38:00Okay.
38:01That was such a fun challenge, and I think some really didn't go there.
38:05Yeah, some of them missed the whole idea that she was Barbie.
38:08Nick really did think about the whole thing.
38:10The head wrap, the shoe.
38:11The color.
38:12The stripe.
38:12The leg.
38:13As an adult, she still made you want to be Barbie.
38:16I was like, that's a doll walking in front of me.
38:19You did a good job.
38:20I did like Santino's dress.
38:25I really loved the detail that he put on that dress.
38:29And, you know, you looked at the Barbie, and the Barbie looked just as good as the real
38:33model.
38:33She was great in miniature.
38:34Yeah.
38:34She was really cute in miniature, and the color was fun.
38:37Give it to her.
38:38Give it to her.
38:40I was surprised you didn't like Kara, because I liked Kara.
38:44What's the point?
38:45No aspiration.
38:46Everyone has a jean miniskirt with a ruffle on it.
38:48Exactly.
38:50You know, Andre...
38:52The wig thing drove me crazy.
38:54Come on.
38:55I don't think the outfit was that great.
38:57It wasn't trendy.
38:58It wasn't hip.
38:59It wasn't cool.
39:02Raimundo, I mean, first off, I mean, she, to me, looked like barefoot, Appalachian little
39:07Abner Barbie.
39:08She looked old, matronly, and sad.
39:12Just sad.
39:13He did say that he wanted to think of this Barbie as a surfer girl, but I didn't really
39:19see any surfer print, or there was so much that you could have done with it.
39:22The only thing surfer were the white sunglasses.
39:27Marla put her in that terrible cranberry color.
39:29Yeah, that was burgundy.
39:30And burgundy, she kind of looked like, I don't know, like a mother of the bride.
39:34Okay, let's bring out the designers.
39:50The six of you represent the best and the worst.
39:53One of you will be named the winner.
40:00And one of you will be out.
40:11The six of you represent the best and the worst.
40:16One of you will be named the winner.
40:18And one of you will be out.
40:26Andre.
40:27Yes, ma'am.
40:28You're in.
40:30Please leave the runway.
40:43Santino.
40:44We loved your work.
40:46No, you didn't.
40:47You're in.
40:50You can leave the runway.
41:05Congratulations, Nick.
41:06You're the winner.
41:08Oh, my God.
41:10You did the perfect My Scene Barbie outfit.
41:14You can leave the runway.
41:15Thank you very much.
41:15My niece will be very happy.
41:20To have a doll with your design, it's an amazing thing.
41:23And I feel, you know, really happy.
41:25I got it.
41:26Yay!
41:30I can't believe that.
41:32Three of you are left.
41:40Two of you will be in.
41:43And one of you will be out.
41:51Kara.
41:55You're in.
41:56Please leave the runway.
41:57One of you will be out.
42:17One of you will be out.
42:21Marla.
42:22Your design was not young enough.
42:27And your choice and color was completely off.
42:36Raimundo.
42:38My Scene Barbie is a teenager.
42:41She's a young girl.
42:42She's hip.
42:43She's cool.
42:44And it looked like you designed for her mother.
42:46Marla.
42:52Marla.
42:56You're in.
42:58You can leave the runway.
43:02Nice to meet you.
43:07That means, Raimundo, you're out.
43:09Thank you, Michael.
43:16Thank you, Nina.
43:17Bye-bye.
43:18What I believed in this challenge was that I had a chance to put my points of views across.
43:25And it was a huge risk.
43:28I will see you still, honey.
43:29I'll go.
43:30I'm leaving earlier than I thought I was going to.
43:34But at the same time, I'm young and I have balls of steel.
43:37Oh, man.
43:44And there's something that I believe very strongly about is integrity.
43:50And I'm living with that.
43:52So I did it my way.
43:55And I'm happy.
43:56Next, on Project Runway, you will be designing lingerie.
44:03And I will choose four of you to be team leaders.
44:07Emmett, what happened?
44:08Emmett is dead weight.
44:10I just wanted to scream.
44:11Oh, my God.
44:13It's going to look like we didn't have time to finish.
44:16I got an idea.
44:17I'm going to snap your pippy off, Daniel.
44:20It's like I Dream of Jeannie.
44:21What is it?
44:22I'm a little disappointed.
44:24Where do I start?
