00:01Previously on Project Runway.
00:03I would like to have a walk-off between three models.
00:07It's a motherfucking walk-off.
00:12I choose Tom.
00:13I can't believe this bitch did this.
00:15You're gonna take pictures.
00:17Pick one.
00:18And then you make a fabulous garment,
00:20and we get to see your train of thought.
00:26My inspiration might be a little bit at a loss.
00:29Can I ask you to gather around?
00:30You are in serious jeopardy.
00:32I think he's totally right.
00:34Be more ambitious.
00:35I think it was more of a slap.
00:37I don't want to be here.
00:38There's a part of me that wants to just be done with it.
00:42Designers, rock the casbah.
00:44Santino does impressions of Tim.
00:46Designers, up until now, you've all sucked.
00:51That was close.
00:52That was close.
00:57What Tim says, and you have to listen,
00:58but I have to say that...
00:59Tim did not make this dress.
01:00No, no, no.
01:01I'm not saying Tim made this dress.
01:02No, no, no.
01:03Congratulations.
01:04Daniel, you're the winner of this challenge.
01:07Kara, you're in.
01:08That means, Zulima, you're out.
01:10At stake for the winner of Project Runway is a fashion spread in Elle magazine, a mentorship
01:19with the Banana Republic design team, a 2007 Saturn Sky Roadster, and $100,000 courtesy
01:25of Saturn to start your own line.
01:28This is Project Runway.
01:30Let's get it on.
01:31To search for the next big fashion designer.
01:34This is a dream come true.
01:35I'm going to do whatever it takes to win.
01:3716 designers.
01:38Everyone here is crazy.
01:40Drama has to happen.
01:42Yes, I'm a competitive person.
01:43Three finalists will make it to Olympus Fashion Week.
01:46You will see me at Fashion Week.
01:48But only one can be the winner.
01:50Heck yeah, I'm going to win this.
01:51For these 16 designers, Project Runway is a chance of a lifetime.
01:58Okay, I know a new rule.
02:05Do not go out like Zulima.
02:08That's the rule.
02:09Do not go out like Zulima.
02:10A couple days ago, Zulima took my model and it just put a lot of tension, not just with
02:16myself and Zulima, but as well as the other designers when she was eliminated.
02:20I sort of was relieved in a way.
02:22In my head, Zulima has never been in my final three.
02:27And so I wasn't surprised that she was out because her garment was the worst.
02:30It was poorly fitted, it was poorly sewn.
02:33Being one of the last six has been a nice surprise.
02:36I think you did something very literal.
02:39I'm like pinching myself again.
02:46Hello.
02:47Hi.
02:48How are you?
02:49Are you ready for your next challenge?
02:50Yes.
02:51Yes.
02:52You will be making an outfit for a garden party.
02:56Tomorrow, Tim will take you shopping and fill you in on all the details.
03:01Let's bring out the winning and losing designers models.
03:15Models, this also is a competition for you as well.
03:18The model paired with a winner of Project Runway will get a fashion spread in Elle magazine.
03:23Daniel, you were the winner of the last challenge.
03:26Your model was Rebecca.
03:28And if you decide to stay with her, Tara will be out.
03:32If you decide not to choose either of these two, I will bring out all the models for you to pick from.
03:38What do you want to do?
03:40Unfortunately, things have worked out for the way they are.
03:42And I've made great friends with Tara and I think she's a great model.
03:46But I'm going to stay with Rebecca.
03:48She's been an angel to me.
03:51Congratulations.
03:53You're in.
03:55Thanks.
03:57Bye.
03:58Tara, I'm sorry you're out.
04:03Auf Wiedersehen.
04:05Bye.
04:07I love you.
04:11That one really hit me hard.
04:12It was emotional.
04:13You know, it was emotional.
04:15Because I really, really love her very much.
04:17And she was so kind and almost looked up to me.
04:24What just happened?
04:25Yeah.
04:26You know, she's gone.
04:29You have your models.
04:30You have your challenge.
04:32I see you back here on the runway.
04:33Bye.
04:34Bye.
04:37You guys, I have an idea.
04:38Oh my God.
04:39What?
04:40The penthouse.
04:41Roof.
04:42Yeah, roof.
04:43Let's go to the roof.
04:44Yeah, roof.
04:45Let's go to the roof.
04:46So 35 people are still intact.
04:47I know.
04:48Yeah.
04:49Yeah.
04:50Oh.
04:51Even though we're all, hey, we're all friends and everything, there's a definite competitive
04:57vibe.
04:58Because I think we sort of know that we are each other's competition.
05:02Six designers left.
05:03Three to go.
05:04It's hardcore now.
05:05I'm not going to be happy until I'm the winner.
05:07Oh.
05:08Thanks.
05:09Come on.
05:10It's kind of shocking that there was not more girls left, you know?
05:11But Cara and I are here because we have proven that we are talented designers.
05:15So I hope Cara or I will make it to the final three.
05:31There should be one woman in there.
05:33Good night, job boy.
05:34Good night, job boy.
05:35Good night, job boy.
05:40Good morning.
05:41Good morning, Sam.
05:42Tim Gunn's here.
05:43Tim Gunn.
05:44Oh.
05:45What are you doing here?
05:47We're taking a field trip.
06:02Oh, what?
06:03Heidi mentioned garden party.
06:05You know, I've heard of those fabulous Park Avenue apartments where people actually have
06:10gardens, but I had no idea.
06:11All right, thank you.
06:12I'm going to go wake up the girls.
06:14Can I have a nap on the door?
06:17Good morning.
06:18Good morning, Tim.
06:19How are you, Chloe?
06:20Good.
06:21So get your stuff together and meet me downstairs in about five minutes.
06:22Okay.
06:23Oh, that's cool.
06:24We get a trip with Tim again.
06:25Yeah.
06:26That would be fun.
06:27So I'll see you downstairs.
06:28Okay.
06:29I didn't know where we would go.
06:30I thought, oh, well, maybe we're going to the Tavern on the Green or something, because
06:31I've been dying to get to Central Park.
06:32When Tim was taking us down the street, I was thinking, you know, there's no fabric stores
06:36really in this area.
06:37What has he got planned?
06:38Heidi delivered your challenge.
06:39Which is the challenge.
06:40Which is the challenge.
06:41It's the challenge.
06:42Okay.
06:43Okay.
06:44I didn't know where we would go.
06:45I thought, oh, well, maybe we're going to the Tavern on the Green or something, because
06:46I've been dying to get to Central Park.
06:49When Tim was taking us down the street, I was thinking, you know, there's no fabric stores
06:53really in this area.
06:55What has he got planned?
06:57Heidi delivered your challenge, which is to design an outfit for a garden party.
07:09And where better to shop for this challenge than the flower district, where we are right
07:14now.
07:15My mouth just dropped.
07:16I'm like, oh, my God.
07:17I don't want to deal with this.
07:18My brain was, like, thinking really fast.
07:20Like, how am I going to do?
07:21What am I going to pick?
07:22You have three destinations here, the plant house.
07:25Fisher and Paige, which is right across the street, and Jamali, which is just down the
07:30block.
07:31We have $100 and an hour to shop, so use your time strategically.
07:35Think very creatively about your designs, and make it work.
07:39I just dreaded it.
07:40Of course, the whole time I was like, but really, I was like, oh, dear Lord.
07:46I had to stay long enough for the damn make a dress out of flower task.
07:52All right.
07:53Off you go.
07:55We have three different stores to choose from.
08:02So I went to Jamali first, because they had the actual construction tools to engineer
08:07flowers.
08:08I don't know.
08:09I don't know what I need right now.
08:11I was a little perplexed.
08:13I'm like, God, what do you get?
08:15What do you get?
08:16What do you get?
08:17How are we going to put this together?
08:24I was looking for things that would be bendable.
08:26I thought they could bend.
08:28You didn't see that.
08:29Things that would last, but I had no idea what I was going to make.
08:34I spent $70 at the florist supply store.
08:43I got some mesh and things to kind of build into the construction of whatever garment I
08:48was going to make.
08:53I didn't want to deal with anything really delicate.
08:57So, you know, I chose leaves because I knew at least we'll stay alive at least for a day.
09:03Right now, I only have $65 left to spend.
09:06I know.
09:07You're in trouble.
09:08I know.
09:09Wow, flowers are expensive.
09:10Only good ones.
09:11Right.
09:14I worked in a florist when I was a kid.
09:16So I don't feel like I'm in the deep end of the swimming pool.
09:19Andre, 30 minutes.
09:20Brilliant.
09:21I'm done.
09:22You're done?
09:23I'm finished and I'm waiting for everybody else.
09:29I don't know what my idea is yet, but I'm kind of buying flowers that will add more flower
09:35to the structure.
09:37For $30, if I could get that ficus, a small one of these, and like a small one of these.
09:43They sold me three plants for $30.
09:46I love plant house.
09:48All right, you're done.
09:49Nick's done.
09:50Andre's done.
09:51And Cara's done.
09:52We have five minutes.
09:55What are you going to know?
09:56Just these two.
09:57Seven bucks.
09:58Almost every penny spent.
10:00What ribbon can I get for $5?
10:03Where did Chloe go?
10:04Can she go back to Jamali?
10:06Oh, this is $4.99?
10:08I'm done.
10:09I'm done.
10:10I'm done.
10:11I'm done.
10:12I'm done.
10:13I'm done.
10:14I'm done.
10:15Back to the workroom.
10:16Thank you, Tim.
10:17You're welcome.
10:19Did I get enough?
10:20I hope so.
10:21I bought five bushels of this leaf thing that I'm going to individually place each leaf on
10:37top of each other, so it's going to look like a cascaded print.
10:40Two.
10:41Oh, here it is.
10:42Number three.
10:43I've won three challenges now.
10:44Obviously, the judges like what I'm doing.
10:46And so, whatever I'm doing, I'm just going to keep doing because it seems that it's working.
10:50So, hopefully, that's enough to get me to top three.
10:52You actually have the most wins so far.
10:54I've only been doing fashion design for three years.
10:57Pretty darn good at it.
10:59I've just graduated from college, so my biggest weakness as a designer is actual industry
11:05experience.
11:06You're pretty good at everything you do, huh?
11:07That's kind of sick, Daniel.
11:08I tried to play basketball once.
11:10Uh-huh.
11:11That didn't work out very well.
11:16Okay, everybody.
11:18Can you gather around?
11:19Mm-hmm.
11:20I have a very nice announcement.
11:23The winner of this challenge has immunity for the next challenge.
11:28Oh.
11:29Oh.
11:30Yes!
11:31It's a big incentive.
11:33Oh.
11:34That's huge.
11:35Wow.
11:36It's huge.
11:37So, really...
11:38Make it work.
11:39Make it work.
11:40I'd really like to win this one because I'd really like to know that I've made it to the
11:43last four.
11:44That has become my new goal is to just get to the last four and then let, you know, God sort
11:50it out.
11:51So, let's get back to work.
11:53You have until midnight tonight.
11:54Okay.
11:55And that's it.
11:56I'll be back in a few hours.
11:58Okay.
11:59All right.
12:00Carry on.
12:06Why don't I buy more flowers?
12:08I don't think I can play it safe.
12:10I think I've got to pull out all the stops.
12:12It's a do or die for me, I think.
12:14It would be great to win first place on this one because then I could do something really
12:20offensive for the next challenge and not be penalized for it.
12:24And that's what I'm really hoping to do.
12:27Oh.
12:28Coming up on Project Runway.
12:29To expect this to hold up just as the material, it's not possible.
12:33No, no, no, no.
12:34Designers.
12:35Make it work.
12:36Carry on.
12:37Santino.
12:38I want to hear more.
12:39Oh, God.
12:40Hi.
12:41First off, the florist saw it work.
12:51My design is just a summer dress that's wrapped across in the front with straps.
12:56And it's going to look like this cool textural print that if you look far away, you really
13:00can't tell that it's actually made of leaves.
13:02I'm braiding Raffia.
13:03It's a fakey looking, grassy thing.
13:08I have no idea right now what I'm going to be using.
13:11Now I've got a pile of green.
13:13And anything I want to do with it is smoke it, to show you the truth.
13:17I'm making an outfit consisting of a tropical leaf, a ficus tree, and some type of fern.
13:25I want to do something really pretty and sophisticated and sexy, but also definitely whimsical.
13:32The ferns that I purchased, I'm using for the entire bottom of the skirt, and then the
13:38flowers will be surrounding the bust line.
13:41It's just kind of opening up and cascading.
13:43I chose a lot of dead or half-dead things or things that would die beautifully.
13:48I got a couple bags of Spanish moss, baby's breath, and dried lavender.
13:53My actual project is like a little topiary dress, kind of reminiscent of late 50s haute couture,
13:59and like also a French garden.
14:04My design was this fitted bodice with a bustier, and then a full skirt.
14:10That would be the foundation for it, and then I would put the flowers, the plants, everything on it.
14:15Hi, everybody.
14:16Hello.
14:17Can I interrupt you briefly?
14:19I'd like to walk around to see what you're doing.
14:21OK.
14:22OK.
14:23Hi, Chloe.
14:24So how are you doing?
14:25I'm still working on my complete design, but I'm going to put the skirt down and do the whole skirt
14:30and see what I want to do with the top.
14:32OK.
14:33You're going to bring all those petals into the sewing machine?
14:35I think it's fine.
14:36Look, this is not going away.
14:38It hasn't just been like a few hours.
14:40But it just happened?
14:43Mm-hmm.
14:44This can't happen on the runway.
14:46Oh, no, I know.
14:47I'm going to check it.
14:48I'm going to make sure that it won't fall off.
14:49It sounds very ambitious.
14:51It's not that ambitious.
14:52I'm confident.
14:53I'm going to glue this baby like no tomorrow, so it's going to be OK.
14:56All right, do it.
14:57I don't know what the rest is.
14:59I don't know where I'm going, but this has been so long.
15:01Wait a minute.
15:02That doesn't give me...
15:03That doesn't...
15:04I don't want to walk away from you with your saying, I know where I'm going.
15:07Tim, it's really just happening organically.
15:09It's happening organically.
15:10My skirt is unresolved.
15:11That's what I'm wearing.
15:12All right.
15:13Well, as you're working, resolve these issues as soon as you can.
15:17So all this fern is yours, Daniel?
15:19Yes, it is.
15:20Wow.
15:21As are those gorgeous flowers.
15:24And then here, I'd love to do a small basket weave.
15:27Correct.
15:28But the fact is, realistically, it's only a few inches wide.
15:31OK.
15:32I mean, it's four inches.
15:33I can do that relatively simple.
15:35It's time.
15:36It is time.
15:38Nick.
15:40Wow.
15:41I wasn't expecting that.
15:43Were you expecting to use the stones?
15:45No, I wasn't.
15:46And I just wanted to utilize what I have, since I don't have that much.
15:49I spent everything down to, like, I think, a dollar.
15:52And I didn't really get much.
15:54Do you have enough material to really do all this?
15:58I think, yeah.
15:59Right.
16:00Yeah, I might not.
16:01It might be rather short.
16:03I do think the length may be determined by how much you have.
16:07Exactly.
16:08Yeah.
16:09I think so, too.
16:10It may become a micro mini.
16:13Look at this.
16:14You know, I wanted to go with plants more so than flowers, just because I didn't want to run into the situation flowers don't last.
16:22I guess I just see these being so powerful, it makes me question why all the form here.
16:28But it's up to you.
16:29Yeah, I'm just playing with this right now.
16:31OK.
16:32Keep working.
16:33All right.
16:34Thanks, Tim.
16:35Where's Andre?
16:36What happened to Andre?
16:37Where is Andre?
16:40I think he's outside.
16:42OK.
16:43He's outside.
16:46I was upstairs asking, what happened to Andre?
16:48What happened to Andre?
16:50Make it work.
16:51Make it work.
16:52I've been down here turning these into grass.
16:55Designers.
16:56Designers, look out for Andre.
16:58He's our little lamb.
16:59OK?
17:00To expect this to hold up just as the material, it's not possible.
17:04No, no, no, no, no.
17:05Carry on.
17:06Carry on.
17:07Carry on.
17:08Oh, this is going to take forever.
17:21I knew that was going to take a long time.
17:24I just didn't estimate how long it would take.
17:27Oh, my God!
17:28This is taking forever.
17:33OK, can I ask, did y'all just come out to your parents?
17:36I just came out to my parents a year ago.
17:38You just came out, like a year ago, to your parents.
17:41Yeah.
17:42That makes sense back in my day, but, you know, but, like,
17:45that was, like, the rent-a-date with the Catholic high school
17:48because I could dance, I could dress well.
17:5120 years later, they're like, why didn't we figure it out?
17:54I grew up in Michigan.
17:56It's still the Bible Belt.
17:57I grew up in a really strict Christian family.
18:00Wow, Daniel.
18:01I didn't know.
18:03It was hard, of course.
18:04Yeah.
18:05To be labeled a fag in an upper-middle-class white America
18:08was difficult, but everyone has been very supportive.
18:11I have made some really good friends,
18:13and that helped me grow into the person that I am today.
18:16There's certain things you're going to get in a guy,
18:18and certain things you're going to get in a girl, and...
18:20My ex-girlfriend doesn't know.
18:21What?
18:22Really?
18:23Oh, so you had girlfriends?
18:24Oh, yeah.
18:25That's my fear, is to date a...
18:26Yeah, you're extra special.
18:27Your biggest fear is to date a gay guy?
18:29For real?
18:30It's funny.
18:31It's definitely funny.
18:32Will you please do Tim again?
18:36But create more.
18:37Andre, I always have to start my sentences with Andre.
18:41It gets me into the character.
18:43I say, Andre, you really embarrassed me tonight at Red Lobster.
18:47There's already a big age difference, Andre,
18:50and you acting like a big baby,
18:53and throwing a plate of lobster in my lap at dinner
18:56is not appropriate.
18:59I just kind of created this little story in my head
19:02that, you know, Tim and Andre had this romance going.
19:05Andre, but I still think we can make it work.
19:09Why are Tim Gunn and I together in your sick, twisted world?
19:13Andre is laughing along with it.
19:16I'm a little bit like, oh my God, does Tim Gunn know about this joke
19:20between him and Andre?
19:21If we continue to fight in front of my colleagues at Red Lobster,
19:25we're gonna have to break up.
19:27They've gone through the honeymoon period,
19:29and now they get into these little squabbles at Red Lobster.
19:33We're gonna try to make this work.
19:35You and me.
19:37Let's make it work.
19:39Is there anyone out there like Santino in the world?
19:43I don't think so.
19:45And if there is, don't call me, please.
19:48Because one is enough.
19:56So what's the skirt?
19:58I don't know.
19:59What do you mean you don't know?
20:00I don't know.
20:01Really?
20:02I really don't know.
20:03But Kari, you have three hours.
20:05Well, work it out.
20:06It's really important, really critically important.
20:09Really important.
20:11But all this has to go away.
20:14Yeah.
20:15Yeah.
20:16All of it.
20:17Right.
20:18The skirt's gotta work.
20:19Yes.
20:20I know.
20:21I know.
20:22I know.
20:23Yeah.
20:24I love the look.
20:25Do you have enough of this?
20:26For this?
20:27That's the other issue.
20:28Oh, God.
20:29I know.
20:30So I'm working my way.
20:31I'm just working my way.
20:32And if not, then...
20:33Shorten it.
20:34Exactly.
20:35So where are you?
20:37Oh, God.
20:38I don't know.
20:39I'll be honest.
20:40I don't know.
20:41I'm like a mad woman.
20:42Watch your time.
20:43I know.
20:44I'm gonna have to throw something on.
20:46I know.
20:47No, you are.
20:48I know.
20:49You really are.
20:50Andre.
20:51Look at...
20:52I know.
20:53It's really messy.
20:54Look at this flotsam and jetsam.
20:57It looks like I did yard work.
20:59Yeah.
21:00I'm really happy.
21:01It's still...
21:02And it's still functional, too.
21:04Like, I put a zipper in it.
21:06You do have a zipper?
21:07I actually sewed it like it was a real dress,
21:10and I lost a lot of grass.
21:11Okay.
21:12You have to fill in with some more stuff.
21:13Yeah, I know.
21:14In certain places.
21:15Yeah.
21:16All right.
21:17Carry on.
21:18All right.
21:19Santino.
21:21What happened to Andre?
21:24What happened to Andre?
21:26I want to hear more.
21:28I understand you're doing a devastating impersonation.
21:33And I want to hear it.
21:36Oh, my God.
21:37Tim.
21:38Oh, no.
21:39You're gonna make me...
21:40Oh, my God.
21:41He's confronting him.
21:43Today, you know, we've been talking,
21:46and I've just been, like, talking in your voice.
21:49What have I been saying?
21:52You and Andre go to Red Lobster.
21:54Andre and I go to Red Lobster?
21:56Yeah.
21:57And then you guys get into an argument,
21:59and then you're like, Andre, stop doing this.
22:02Every time we have a little tiff, you go and run in the bathroom.
22:08What happened to Andre?
22:09It's all you do now.
22:10And the privacy of your own mind.
22:12It's fucked.
22:14I'm sorry, Tim.
22:15You know it's with love.
22:16No, no.
22:17I do know.
22:18And I love you back.
22:19Thanks.
22:20Thanks, Tim.
22:21All right.
22:24I'm verklempt.
22:26I think it's probably the one time when anyone has ever made Santino blush
22:32and really kind of put him in his place in a really funny way.
22:36We have to be done by 12 o'clock, and I'm close,
22:44but I definitely think that there's a lot more fantastic possibilities
22:49that I could put into this thing.
22:53I didn't have a lot of leaves to fill in the skirt,
22:56so I'm just basically going to cut it off at this level,
22:59so all that's going to be gone.
23:01So it'll be a mini dress all wrapped around.
23:06Oh, my God.
23:08Oh, my God.
23:09What the hell am I going to do?
23:10I'm so not done.
23:14I've sprayed it thoroughly with shellac.
23:16Can you smell?
23:21I'm sending a bush down the road.
23:30My dress is not done at all.
23:32It's time management, and I did not manage my time well this time.
23:37Coming up on Project Runway.
23:39Chloe, I'm looking at this.
23:40You need tons of time.
23:41You need an extra set of hands.
23:42I know.
23:43You know what?
23:44Sometimes you just can't finish it, and I'm not going to blame anybody.
23:47I just didn't have enough time.
23:49I felt very close to being out on the last challenge.
24:01I really want to just kind of get through another challenge.
24:05Naturally, winning would be nice.
24:08I think I'd just sleep the day away because I'm immune.
24:12If I won this challenge, I would be taking away the immunity from somebody who doesn't deserve to be in that room because there's people that need to go home.
24:21I always try to put 110% into each challenge.
24:25I came to New York to be in the top three, if not win.
24:28I don't think any of us is going home today, so this is a nice thing.
24:31I doubt.
24:33I think all of us.
24:34Somebody has to.
24:35I know, but all the 35D projects look really good.
24:38Chloe has a lot to cover.
24:40You can't leave spaces in between.
24:43Did you see how she started doing that?
24:45You can't do that.
24:46Honestly, it could be anybody.
24:47It could be anybody.
24:48We'll see.
24:49I'm not going home, though.
24:50It's not me.
24:52How are you feeling about your garment today?
24:54I'm kind of nervous.
24:55It's not done at all.
24:56You'll get it done.
24:58I'm not nervous.
24:59I'm going to speed it up.
25:00I'm going to have an hour.
25:01I'm going to finish that sucker.
25:02That's how I think.
25:03They can do it.
25:04I can do it.
25:05My dress was fine.
25:06That one leaf wilted because I treated all the leaves before I left for the evening.
25:22Okay, stop worrying about the damn skirt.
25:24Stop worrying about the damn skirt.
25:25Just a big spot.
25:26Just a big spot.
25:27You know, bottom line, I guess as a designer, you've got to be happy with your design.
25:31Might not be finished, but I'm happy with it.
25:34Good morning, everybody.
25:35Good morning, Tim.
25:36Our theme this morning is don't stop working.
25:39Just keep going.
25:40You have a ton of stuff to do.
25:42Your models are coming in in a minute.
25:44Send them down to the Theresa May hair salon and to the L'Oreal Paris makeup room alone.
25:49Just give them instructions.
25:50Okay.
25:51Stay here.
25:52Use the Banana Republic accessory wall.
25:54Use it very strategically.
25:56It's 9.45.
25:57You have until noon.
25:59Chloe, I'm looking at this.
26:00You need tons of time.
26:01You need an extra set of hands.
26:02I know.
26:03So you have about two hours just work like there's no tomorrow because for one of you,
26:09there won't be.
26:11Hi, Grace.
26:13You know what?
26:14Go hair and makeup first and then come back and help me if I'm not done.
26:18There's your instruction.
26:19There wasn't going to be time for me to go visit the hair and makeup people.
26:23So we came up with this sort of crown to sort of finalize the whole outfit together.
26:28It's really itchy.
26:30Tell them to give you like big hair but curly and fresh Park Avenue.
26:35I mean fresh Park Avenue, not stuffy Park Avenue.
26:45I thought okay for hair and makeup, this time I'll go a little bit further out.
26:48I put a bunch of leaves in her hair almost like a skull cap.
26:58I'm very, very worried about finishing.
27:00You can only do so much with the time that you have.
27:03And you know what?
27:04Sometimes you just can't finish it.
27:05And I'm not going to blame anybody, you know, saying I'm sorry I didn't have enough time.
27:09It's just, I just didn't have enough time.
27:11Chloe, I'm coming to help you, baby.
27:13Yeah.
27:23Right before the runway show, I glued on all the blue flowers.
27:26So there was a lot of work that had to be done.
27:30Any empty space?
27:31Just pull it in for me.
27:32I'm going to make the belt.
27:33I'm just still busy.
27:34Busy guy.
27:35There's four men to two women at the moment.
27:37And Chloe and I, we kind of really spurring each other on to get to the top three.
27:41We have to have a woman representing.
27:43You're going to tell me my dress or something.
27:46Do you need to work with yours?
27:47Go ahead.
27:48Go ahead.
27:49I'm fine.
27:50Are you?
27:51Yeah.
27:52Okay, good.
27:53Thank you so much.
27:54I'm a walking bush.
27:55You're a walking bush.
27:56These are not comfortable.
27:57It feels so weird.
27:58For me, it was a great achievement.
27:59I was like, oh, I'm kind of good at this.
28:01And to be honest, looking around, everybody's garden dress looked amazing.
28:05I was like, wow, this is going to be a hard one.
28:19Who's going to go?
28:22Okay, designers and models.
28:25This is it.
28:27We're ready to go.
28:28So follow me.
28:30We're going now.
28:31I didn't finish it, but hopefully they like it.
28:34like it. Coming up on Project Runway. I am a little bit surprised that you guys didn't use
28:45more flowers. It's stiff. I mean, let's be honest, she looks like a doormat. Hello. Welcome to the
28:57runway. As you know, in fashion, one day you're in and the next day you might be out. There's six
29:04of you now, and after tonight there will be only five left. This challenge is about innovation.
29:10We asked you to design an outfit for a garden party using flowers and plants as your materials.
29:17Let's meet the judges. The fabulous Michael Kors, king of jet set American style. Fashion
29:25director Nina Garcia of Elle magazine. And design team Mark Badgley and James Mischka.
29:33We will be judging your designs as they come down the runway. One of you will be named
29:38the winner, and one of you will be out.
29:44Let's start the show.
29:45Rebecca looked very sophisticated, very elegant, and I love the fact that almost from far away
29:59it wouldn't look like plants, which I think is very important because we're not costume designers,
30:05we're fashion designers.
30:14When I saw the look coming down the runway, I was like, I hope to God it doesn't come apart.
30:20I was just sort of going, God, I hope one of those plants doesn't fall off the dress.
30:24I feel pretty good about my petal lead dress. This has the effect that I was looking for.
30:40I didn't have the complete effect because I ran out of time.
30:42I pray the whole time I'm sitting there that everything stays together. I mean, I can just
30:57imagine, like, one huge panel off the skirt just falling off.
31:02My dress is really cute and chic and very, very French. Like the topiary French gown on.
31:16I feel so completely confident with this garment. It's executed beautifully. It looks beautiful.
31:35It's exactly where I wanted to go.
31:46Designers, we've tallied your scores.
32:00I'm going to keep all of you guys on the runway.
32:03Let's bring out your models.
32:04I thought that we all were going to buy, like, petals of roses and kind of, like, sew all the rose petals together.
32:23It just surprised me that everything is so green, you know?
32:26Green is the new black.
32:27Yeah.
32:27I'm just going to start with Nick and ask our guest judges, Mark and James.
32:33They have some questions about your outfit.
32:35Why don't you think you used more color? There's so much green everywhere.
32:39That's how it turned out to be when I went to the floral shop.
32:42I was just picking out greens without realizing. I was actually picking out plants that would be bendable.
32:48And it just evolved. I let the plants and what I had sort of transform themselves as I worked with them.
32:55I am a little bit surprised that you guys didn't use more flowers.
32:58I mean, it's color, it's beautiful, it's so inspirational.
33:04You didn't really go for that.
33:06Right. I also, I know I've been doing a lot of, like, Paris Sulton goes on a resort.
33:11Um, I, I just wanted to, to stray away from what you might expect of me.
33:19I don't know. To me, it's not sophisticated.
33:23Okay.
33:25Chloe.
33:27This one looks to me like it almost took the most time.
33:30It's very cloth-like. It's beautiful. It's light.
33:32Looks like it's the most wearable. I think it's great.
33:35When we give you a project, I like the end result. I think you put a lot of thought into it. It looks very beautiful.
33:43It's, uh, it's very professional looking. And, and in a strange, weird way. Very wearable.
33:49Thank you. It's a lot of work.
33:52Kara.
33:53I think this is the best fit dress up here. I think it's beautiful.
33:56Looks like it's built on a little pristine corset. And I thought that raffia work in the back was amazing.
34:04It's a lot of texture. I think it's great. I really do. I think it's beautiful.
34:08I think you definitely used the materials. You used texture. You kept your eye sort of involved.
34:19And, uh, I think that you went wild in the flower market and, and grabbed interesting, different things
34:26and, and used them in a different, interesting way. You had fun with it.
34:33Andre.
34:34What are the materials on this dress? What is it actually made out of?
34:37What is it made out of? Um, it's made of Spanish moss and raffia,
34:41and the purple flowers are lavender and then baby's breath.
34:44I think if you're going to do something simple, I think, number one, you have to care about the fit.
34:51I think that the way that the dress jumps away from her body in the front is very odd.
34:57I think the other thing is that it's stiff and it's not joyous.
35:04And she looks a little, I mean, let's be honest, if you use that much moss, she looks like a doormat.
35:08I think it could have had a little more personality. It's a little flat.
35:14The next designer I want to continue with is Daniel.
35:17I think this one's great. I think it's adorable.
35:21A lot of it has a lot of color in it compared to the other ones.
35:24I love the proportion. It's like a little waspy garden party dress.
35:27Exactly.
35:28I think it's very charming.
35:29The inspiration did come from a waspy, uh, little, uh, very charming, uh, garden party dress.
35:35I wanted something that could translate from a 20-year-old, which could be more whimsical,
35:39to a 50-year-old that could still be very practical.
35:41I love to see the flowers. I think that you sprinkled them in the bottom. It looks beautiful.
35:47I am crazy about the basket weave that you did on the bodice. It looks great.
35:53It's adorable. Thank you so much.
35:54Thank you so much.
35:54Thank you so much.
35:57Santino.
35:57Unfortunately, to me, some of the vegetation gets a little plasticky or waxy looking,
36:04and it starts to look a little synthetic-y, I think, with the crinoline.
36:08Right.
36:08There, I would really love, I would have loved some beautiful, beautiful, colorful flowers
36:13to maybe soften, you know, what it is.
36:16Did you do something to the leaves to make it more plastic?
36:18Yes, I sprayed them, um, to preserve the color.
36:23The shine of it makes it look very plastic.
36:26Right.
36:26No, I get to.
36:27And it robs it from its natural feeling.
36:31Right.
36:33I have no problem with it being shiny.
36:34Because you're German.
36:35It's nice when they're, maybe, uh, maybe your plants at home need some dusting off,
36:40but I like it when they're shiny.
36:42Okay, we heard what you had to say.
36:46We're going to have a little chat, and then I'm going to call you back onto the runway.
36:52You can leave the runway.
37:03Definitely there were problems today.
37:05Because we all wanted to see, like, big flower dresses, but I think everyone saw Austin's
37:08thing last time and saw it, like, shrink and triple it and nothing, so they were all afraid
37:11of that, I think.
37:12Personally, I like Cara, I like Chloe, and I like Daniel.
37:17For me, it's, like, between the three of them, I thought they did, like, the best job.
37:20I thought Daniel's dress was, first off, a really wearable, chic, but still at the same
37:27time charming, it wasn't old, um, great-looking dress that looked like a real dress, a real
37:32garment, and he's got a really meticulous eye.
37:36Daniel really captured the spirit of the project, I think.
37:39He pushed it, it was impeccable.
37:40I liked it very much.
37:45Chloe's dress, if someone would be wearing that in a party and it wouldn't be as bright,
37:50it probably would look like fabric.
37:51Oh, totally.
37:52Yeah, it's not as obvious that it's, like, a bush.
37:55You know, she really thinks about a woman's body, so that's a great thing.
38:01Cara's, I thought, was fantastic.
38:03I really liked her.
38:04I thought it was very flirty, very feminine.
38:06She used texture, she really used texture in a big way, so that's very admirable.
38:11It was more floral and texture and, yeah.
38:14Both Nick and Andre were my lowest scores.
38:20He can never really explain why he made the garment in a logical way.
38:27I think it was, he's saying he's trying to get away from Paris Hilton, but that was the
38:30most Paris Hilton thing I've seen on this whole show by far.
38:33It's hard to make leaves look vulgar, but, I mean, there's, there's a little bit of vulgarity,
38:38I think, in everything he does.
38:42Andre, to me it was boring.
38:45It was like a moss dress with a bit of fringe on the end and a fringe up top.
38:48Yes, it was dull, but you could see it was Audrey Hepburn and he thought about it.
38:54But she looked, like, so stiff in it.
38:55I didn't, I didn't see the creativity in it.
38:58Santino, I think he needs to think a little bit more about the woman.
39:07He's thinking about wearable art.
39:08It's, it's how do you balance someone who's creative and talented, which he is, but with
39:14caring about dressing real people.
39:20All right, let's call them back out.
39:22There are six of you now on the runway.
39:30One of you will be named the winner.
39:33And one of you will be out.
39:47There are six of you now on the runway.
39:49One of you will be named the winner.
39:53And one of you will be out.
40:01Santino.
40:03Yes.
40:05You're in.
40:07You can leave the runway.
40:08Okay.
40:19I thought my outfit was the front runner.
40:32The detailing on the dress, which I worked hard at achieving, the judges really recognized.
40:38So, thanks guys.
40:41And now for the winner of this challenge.
40:43Congratulations, Daniel.
40:50You're the winner of this challenge.
40:52I think it's fantastic that you used flowers.
40:57That means you have immunity for the next challenge and you cannot be out.
41:02Congratulations.
41:02Thank you very much.
41:03You can leave the runway.
41:05Hearing my name called as the winner is, of course, a very great feeling.
41:09But as happy as I am, my heart does still go out to the designer that's leaving.
41:15That's four.
41:20Chloe.
41:22You're in.
41:23You can leave the runway.
41:25Thank you very much.
41:25There are two of you left.
41:41One of you will be in.
41:44And one of you will be out.
41:49Andre.
41:51Yes.
41:51Apart from the poor fit, you were not innovative enough.
41:58It did not make enough of a statement.
42:03Nick, I know you were trying to restrain yourself on this one.
42:08But at the same time, we thought that your taste level wasn't there.
42:16Nick.
42:19You're in.
42:20You can leave the runway.
42:29Oh, shut up.
42:30Only one person is allowed to cry on the runway.
42:34Heaven's sake.
42:38Andre, that means you're out.
42:39I know.
42:40I know.
42:41I know.
42:43I'll see you.
42:47Thanks.
42:48Thanks.
42:50Here I am at the end of the line, I guess.
42:56When I was in the competition, I felt like I was this angel, and I kind of floated above
43:01the street.
43:02And now I just feel like I'm walking on the ground like everybody else.
43:06And that's kind of tough.
43:08Hi, everybody.
43:09Hi.
43:09Hi.
43:10Hi.
43:10Andre, an extremely strong showing, but somebody had to be out.
43:14Right.
43:15You need to go up to the work room now and clean up your space.
