00:25that know what we're doing.
00:26You're so f***ing successful and you know so much.
00:28What are you doing here?
00:29What are you doing here, Jess?
00:31Let's start the show.
00:34Now for the winner.
00:35Michael.

00:58This is Project Runway.
01:00Fashion is my life.
01:01I'm going to win.
01:0215 contestants.
01:04I'm fabulously glamorous.
01:06I've got mad skills.
01:07But only one can be the winner.
01:09I'm better than that.
01:10You've got to be kidding me.
01:11For these 15 contestants, Project Runway is the chance of a lifetime.
01:16Robert.
01:17Michael.
01:18Are you up?
01:19Yeah.
01:20I feel so proud of myself that I made it through five challenges thus far.
01:35I'm just actually more motivated now that I want to challenge,
01:38because I want to win another one.
01:39Last representatives of 1680.
01:42Yeah.
01:43Bradley's gone, oh!
01:45My boy is gone.
01:46Judging is very subjective.
01:49It can go any way.
01:50An-o-v-a-tion.
01:52I just don't get it.
01:53I did cash in my 401k and quit a job to do Project Runway.
01:57This is the riskiest thing that I've done to date.
02:00But I have the talent and the construction ability to make really great dresses.
02:04So I think my chances to get to the final three look good.
02:07It's anti-stress.
02:08Look at how much I've already used since I've been here.
02:12I'm ready.
02:13Oh, yeah.
02:14Let's go get our new challenge.
02:16Hello.
02:17Hello.
02:18Okay, before I give you your next challenge, let's bring out the winning and losing designers'
02:27models.
02:36Michael, you were the winner of the last challenge.
02:38So you have the option to switch models.
02:41And your model was Nasri.
02:44If you decide to stay with her, Katie will be out.
02:48If you decide to swap, I will bring out all the models for you to choose from.
02:52What do you want to do?
02:54I really enjoy working with Nasri, so I'm definitely going to keep her.
02:59Congratulations.
03:05Katie, I'm sorry.
03:07That means you're out.
03:09Auf Wiedersehen.
03:11Bye, Katie.
03:13Are you ready for your next challenge?
03:16Yes.
03:17You are?
03:18Yeah, absolutely.
03:19I think that you guys had it pretty easy so far.
03:22No, we haven't.
03:23Easy?
03:24These challenges have not been easy.
03:28Oh, yeah.
03:29Compared to last season, we had it pretty easy.
03:32All of us rolled our eyes at that.
03:34I feel like I've been here for months working constantly.
03:36So the next few challenges are going to be tough.
03:40Everyone's stressed and working hard.
03:42So the thought of something being more difficult feels absurd.
03:45And you will find out how tough tomorrow morning.
03:49I'll see you on the runway.
03:50Bye.
03:51Bye.
03:52Bye.
03:53Michael.
03:54Good morning.
03:55We're going on a little field trip.
03:56Okay.
03:57We have an hour to get ready.
03:58Thank you, Tammy.
04:00Bye.

04:02Tell Kane and Jeffrey no open-toed footwear for everyone.
04:03For everyone.
04:04For everyone.
04:05Oh, man.
04:06Maybe they're going to have us dig something out in the air.
04:07Like, what's next?
04:08Wait, give me my but I'm going to get up.
04:09If I can just go!
04:10Let's go!
04:11Put me in the night and get up.
04:12Thank you, Tammy.
04:13Thank you, Tammy.
04:15Michael?
04:16Good morning.
04:17We're going on a little field trip.
04:18Okay.
04:19Good morning.
04:20Good morning.
04:21We are going on a little field trip.
04:22Okay.
04:23You have an hour to get ready.
04:24Thank you, Tammy.
04:26Bye.
04:27Bye.
04:28Tell Kane and Jeffrey no open-toed footwear for everyone.
04:30For everyone.
04:31Oh, man.
04:32mom i don't know it's a good thing you have on your riding outfit in case it's horses
04:39come on kane you're gonna miss the day i'm coming coming
04:52we're all just kind of looking out the window trying to catch any hints we could wait where are
04:56we it was the morning time and i was sitting quietly humming the sopranos song
05:06i have no idea where we're going the weather's terrible new jersey looks as awful as it ever did
05:20we're there at this big huge warehouse in new jersey which feels like we've just woken up
05:26in some strange nightmare we climbed up onto a loading dock where are we we're led to the front
05:35of this huge like rolling garage door we are in newark new jersey and behind this door is the site
05:43of your new challenge you were all just like what oh my god i really did not know what to think
05:56of recyclable materials everywhere
06:15my initial reaction was shut up i don't want to work with trash
06:20good morning good morning for this challenge you will be sourcing recyclable materials to create
06:27an outfit of your choice i am delighted to introduce matthew cause of waste management
06:33recycle america who will tell us more about where we are you're at the waste management
06:38recycle america materials recycling facility port newark new jersey each and every day nearly 500 tons of
06:46recyclable materials pass through these doors there are three bins for each of you to collect your
06:51materials this challenge is about innovation and creativity so think about that when making your
06:57choices and you will have 30 minutes here after which we will go back to manhattan to an art supply
07:03store where you will buy materials to help you with your construction this challenge definitely forces
07:09me as well as the other designers to think outside of the box so your 30 minutes starts now how are we
07:16going to work with that stuff does this stuff have the end you're finding some cool stuff i think i can
07:26make fur trim out of this allison the only sort of fabric type item that i saw were these gigantic um
07:32four peanuts only bags designers you have 17 minutes oh my god martha stewart this is kind of fun for me
07:52because i grew up white trash and my sister and i used to always go dumpster diving spent my whole life
07:58in the trash can you all have 10 minutes all right as long as it can be glued staples sewn together
08:07i'm good i guess fashion people don't recycle because this is trash i want to make something
08:13contradictory to trash i'm going to make art i was excited to work in something else other than fabric
08:20for a change that was inspiring all right everybody time is up we have to get back to manhattan
08:28bring your bins with you we're all leaving we had 15 freaking minutes to get what we needed and we
08:42only had a 25 budget oh i got some acrylic paint and i want to stain the newspaper and create a really
08:51pretty textile palette for my dress 20 with the text designers time is up please meet me at the front door
09:07all right everybody you have until midnight tonight only i just like went oh my god reality check we've
09:16had generally like two days to do the challenges it's going to be a little pressure cooker i'm going
09:21to check with you later there's everything from cardboard and newspaper and plastic bottles and mylar
09:30it's definitely going to be a little bit of a challenge to get our creative minds working and see
09:34what we can come up with
09:35i was imagining making like a big voluminous skirt but um and i didn't know that it was going to turn
09:47out all right when you have a shorter challenge you just have to keep in mind every step you're going
09:51to take and there's no room for error the design of the dress is going to be very simple i love love
09:59patchwork so i'm just going right back to what i know these materials i got they're so hard and stiff
10:08i'm really letting them speak to me whatever form and shape they take i'm just kind of just pinning
10:14and tucking and let it happen that way i let things evolve i don't know in the future i don't go there
10:20you know what i mean i just let it come let it come and that's what that's how i work
10:25i think the guy's like completely whack he's gonna crack any day now he's he's not mentally stable
10:41he's weird
10:52i have about two seconds for dinner tonight i know right that's a trash talk someone if i go home
10:59i deserve it please don't go home then i have to face laura all by myself might as well just shoot
11:06yourself in the face sometimes i feel like she wants to her dress is cute it says for nuts only
11:15it looks like a straight jacket it's like she's sewing for herself again
11:20she kissed me on the cheek today i know i was like you're gonna get a rash you better watch
11:26ciao ciao
11:29laura is just boring me to tears i can't believe laura is doing what she's doing i really
11:37pray to god the judges sent her to the guillotine another high-waisted skirt
11:48i thought i was on top of the world making the most beautiful thing ever
12:05putting these striped pieces of paper together that i cut out and arranged in kind of an abstract way so
12:11it's forming this really cool pattern and then i started to sew it and it was turning into a nightmare
12:21just started to look awful
12:25coming up on project runway the clock is ticking there's some serious ugly in this room right now
12:31i hope i don't get kicked off tomorrow
12:39the challenge is that we'd have to construct an outfit with bins of recyclable materials
12:45i love the idea of recycling i recycle plastics papers ex-boyfriends how much time are we going
12:55to have do we have to stop at midnight can we go till one o'clock i think everyone is feeling the
12:58attention about the deadline in the room because pretty much every challenge we've had so far has
13:02been a two-day challenge
13:08sorry i had a freak out for a minute
13:11i had a big problem earlier i was you know freaking out for a little bit because i was like oh no this is
13:16not working so now i am crinkling paper so i'm thinking of doing like a super sculpted like luminous
13:24skirts and this turquoise and then i have like this cream color that i'm going to mix in with it
13:31the clock is ticking when the night is over we're going to be done we have to be done no matter what
13:35i'm happy that i've made it this far but it's really important to me that i stay here because
13:41designing clothes is my life
13:48you're crazy wow i chose lime green for some reason which was an atrocious mistake
13:58kane's dress was a clear dog in the room it's got this big stiff paper skirt and he painted this huge
14:04green flower on it come on sister i went overboard it's one of those
14:10things where i just kept adding and adding and it ended up looking like a toad exploded all over
14:16it that's awful yeah i know
14:21there's just not much else to say about it it's a total what were you thinking
14:25kane could be in serious trouble i hope i don't get kicked off tomorrow
14:28this is a really fun challenge i love it i love the newspaper idea just because i've been working
14:39with newspaper so yeah i'm excited about it i think i'm gonna win i think i got this in the bag
14:53all right michael i auditioned for season two of project runway and of course i didn't make season two
15:04i've been waiting for that moment since i got here but prior to going to that audition i wrote on a
15:12piece of paper just a little mantra to myself it says i will make project runway and i will win
15:18project one way today i happen to look in my wallet and that same piece of paper was in there so um
15:23i think it's just really predestate and um i'm here i have only a piece on that wall of fame
15:35it's experimentation time because i got my dress done and now all i have to do is find out what looks
15:41good if anything from all the pile of junk that i have here i'm on to something right now i just have
15:47to tweak it this dress is nice it's hot i look around the room it feels good it's like painting a
15:56picture you know and i think everyone likes to do things like that it's using your heart
16:05i'm not crazy about vincent's design but it's just sort of this white strapless long sheath dress and
16:10then he just glued garbage all over the front of it reminds me of a party dress or something i
16:17sincerely doubt that i'm not going to go forward after this contest because it's a hot dress i like
16:23it i'm happy with it hi how are you holy hi this is gorgeous thank you did you think yes i think so
16:37that's what i wanted to do with all the white but it was too stiff so i put the silver in it
16:42it's gorgeous thank you so jeffrey how are you good good i'm happy if you can tell by the color
16:52yeah yeah yeah stunning it's really incredibly stunning vincent what is this i don't know
17:01right what do you mean you don't know to me it looks like a gay old party dress a happy old party
17:08wow um i kind of like it avant-garde symmetry well but i have to tell you this i don't like the fact
17:17that it's only decorated on the front and not on the back too it's like a painting that's walking
17:22it's a one-dimensional dress which is not good michael yes sir how are you i'm great this is
17:30pretty much a top idea just a simple little bustier kind of weaved this is the skirt that goes with it
17:36so this the bustier kind of sits inside the skirt and then that is on top this is beautiful this is
17:43really beautiful but the skirt it's looking to me like a blank canvas okay make me believe you got
17:52to all right allison hi how are you good my model's blonde and i'm gonna look really pretty on her
18:04zoptic model i have alexandra what do you mean she's a little large
18:10when tim came in to check on our progress um he was a little concerned because um i do have
18:18a model who's larger than all of the other girls there will this constrain the skirt at all well i'm
18:24gonna i'm gonna make a waistband and i want i want this i want this to open up a little bit he was
18:30struggling with the same problem that i was struggling with it's how i'm going to cinch the
18:33waist and um wrap up this dress to make it look really modern and young versus the
18:39puffy matronly feeling that i was getting so i'm a little worried i don't know keep in mind
18:47it's about the model you have it has to look good on her all right carry on kane
18:55yes this is not what i was expecting
19:00i'm disappointed it looks like a high school crap project
19:04i'm sorry it does okay it looks like the amateur hour okay it really does to me it looks like the
19:15amateur hour okay what if the circles were gone would you still what what the circles are a huge problem
19:22okay they're adornment only in this capacity they're just dead we'll just get rid of this
19:32yeah get rid of it get rid of it it's a high school prom backdrop all right okay
19:39do it doing carry on kane seemed like he was in trouble so i i was concerned to say the least okay
19:46everybody you have an hour until you have to stop thank you all i actually am a little scared about
19:54my garment tim just said he hated it and it was horrible i'm not even thinking about winning at
19:58this point i'm just looking to make a garment that's passable for me to the next round
20:03coming up on project runway i wonder about your choices so often well honey i worry about your
20:07character and that's worse i'm just not going to be degraded on on camera that's just bull
20:17i was hoping that maybe tim would love my garment and he didn't he hated it it was absolutely awful
20:22and he hated it so i have one hour to finish my garment before the runway show tomorrow so i am
20:27making a whole new skirt with the materials i have left which is mylar
20:36that's awful i have made a fairy costume how do i do this to myself
20:41after the critique from tim i was really stressed out i'm kind of winging it in a way like trying to
20:52get everything done with the time constraints the judges look for garments that are constructed
20:58flawlessly that hang well that look nice so i'm a little worried
21:02another hard day at the waste management recycling center oh we're home ladies and gentlemen ladies and
21:17gentlemen i had confetti inside my socks i have glitter in my shoe still i just hope i'm safe tomorrow i
21:26wish tim would have come in a little bit earlier i definitely feel like in the group my dress is one
21:34of the worst there's no way in hell i was in the top definitely wasn't going to win unless they were
21:38smoking crack before the runway show good night vincent we gotta get up early in the morning i just
21:43really hate my dress good night good night one day if i can get my body up i'm gonna go straight to
22:01the coffee machine and push the button we'll go with it i'm definitely not going home it's very well
22:10made it's going to be cute as a button on camilla i love the fact that it has the joke on the ass
22:21i feel really good about my outfit i think it's going to get me to go on to the next challenge
22:27let's head to our sun
22:36morning designers morning you have two hours to fit your models to send them to the tresemme hair salon to
22:45the l'oreal paris makeup room you're only two hours and i am sending in the models right now make it work
22:52this is a beautiful fun storybook piece did you try it on yet huh did you get twice not yet i know it
23:01will fit not until later uh-oh are you serious oh there's no way now are you serious let's just do it
23:09the other way that's what i said i know sweetie i'm so i'm so sorry
23:15i think fit is definitely a concern for myself and the other designers because when you're working
23:24with things that aren't traditionally used in making clothing not only do they not have any natural give
23:30but they destruct very easily so the hope is that everything just holds together long enough to make
23:35it down the runway yeah if it just rips i don't care
23:38i want kind of a crazy kooky look so not gorgeous all of it off on top of her head okay we'll give
23:47her a big bow made out of hair okay i'm so happy
23:54what's this made out of newspaper really this challenge is something else
24:01the most painful thing to watch is kane and allison's styling choices
24:08the hair and the makeup allison showed up with this huge like mini mouse yellow bow of hair
24:16it was um frightening i think i could be in the bottom which is okay i just hope i don't get
24:21kicked off i don't like it's my time i'm not ready to go please jesus don't make me why did you choose
24:25that color green kane where did that come from stress it was stress i swear to god i worry about
24:30wonder about your choices so often sweetheart well honey i worry about your character and that's worse so
24:36you know oh and the thing is i've won a challenge and i was in the top three last time yeah i know
24:44so you shouldn't worry about oh no that dress that dress yeah it was it was fantastic so i'm just not
24:49going to be derated on on camera that's just bull
24:54designers you have five minutes and five minutes only
24:58high fashion i just have to shift it my model has really no waste so where i wanted the dress to
25:08cinch in um it didn't because her torso is just kind of straight i'm going to tape it close to be
25:14really careful not to rip the dress so i was trying to make the best of it
25:19walk for me now to me it looked like a huge canvas of art and it just got me off i loved it it was like
25:30a child's drawing i love it i love it designers and models this is it i need you to follow me right now
25:39okay off we go to the runway is that it let's go let's go coming up on project runway she looks huge
25:49she's like a paper brioche you call that a walk what that girl was doing on the runway why don't you
25:54put some harry winston's up your nose hello welcome to the runway as you know in fashion
26:05one day you're in and the next day you're out there are nine of you now and after tonight there will
26:12be eight for this challenge we ask you to create an outfit out of recyclable materials you had paper
26:21plastics and metal to choose from and one day to put it together so we hope we see some real
26:27innovation and creativity on this runway let's meet the judges first we have top american designer
26:37michael chorus hey guys nina garcia fashion director of l magazine good morning and celebrity stylist
26:46rachel zo we will score your designs as they come down the runway one of you will be named the winner
26:54and one of you will be out let's start the show when i saw my dress on the runway i liked it they look
27:13kind of clean and we had to look twice what it was made of because of the the braiding
27:24when i saw the garment coming down the runway i just thought it looked fantastic i thought it
27:29really worked clarissa completely rocked it
27:39looking at my creation come down the runway it felt really good she worked it it looked like
27:45something wearable you know skirt was hard as a brick
27:56the silhouette that it painted when she walked down the runway it was like seeing art in motion
28:02i was really really crazy about it it just got me off
28:04i'm really thrilled because it looks like a real cocktail dress albeit a cheap tacky cocktail dress
28:17that a hooker might wear but nonetheless it still looks like real clothes
28:26i'm really happy that the blue and yellow dress looks the way it does and fits the way it does moves
28:32the way it does the execution was flawless
28:44when my dress came out it looked like this crispy white beautiful thing against camilla's dark skin it was
28:52stunning
29:02when i saw my model come down the runway you know i looked at the fit it was kind of wide and hanging
29:08so i wasn't sure how my piece was going to be judged
29:11i just really hate my dress i was hoping that the silhouette and the fit was enough to at least get me
29:23by but i felt like i was in trouble
29:44we've scored your designs if i call your name please step forward
29:48allison
29:55kane
30:01laura
30:08vincent
30:13michael
30:13jeffrey
30:24if i've not called your name
30:27congratulations your scores have qualified you to move on to the next challenge you guys can leave the runway
30:41the six remaining designers have the highest and the lowest scores
30:52one of you will be named the winner and one of you will be out
30:58let's bring out your models
31:00i would like to start with michael
31:13how i tried to use innovation was pretty much imagining these being fabrics a different type of
31:18fabric i imagine this plastic bag to be like um organza this corset i imagine this being like taffeta
31:25and this peanut sack maybe linens um i really like this piece i think it's fantastic i think it's
31:31it's simple and chic it is very avant-garde but not too much it fits perfectly thank you i really love
31:39this too i think it was very clever to use the plastic as a the wrap i think that you truly understood
31:48the word innovation innovation doesn't have to hit you in the face
31:53the whole thing i look at and i say you know what i can see a really cool looking girl wearing
31:57that so kudos thank you very much thank you vincent i would love to know what kind of materials
32:03you used what did you find for this dress we used a plastic sack paper goods that came in reams
32:10and you could see the confetti michael i think that you have to look at how the clothes actually
32:18move when she walked she had a hard time walking in it i think that if it was a mini dress and she
32:24could actually move and you didn't see the crunching when she walked i see that come out
32:28it turns me on and that's what matters i'm proud of this dress yeah it's a little bizarre i think this
32:34it is bizarre and that's what i like it looks it's artsy very artsy you don't think
32:40that your model had difficulty walking down that runway yes she did i think that that's the trick
32:47if it turns you on and you're you're excited by the dress hey but the reality is whatever your idea
32:53it's it's not functioning when she walks i do have to say that you were innovative and you were not
32:58afraid yeah and i do appreciate that laura i used the peanut sack and some crate strapping and magazine
33:09paper like that it said for peanuts only on the bag and so um then i kind of pleaded it and it said
33:17for nuts only i was trying to sort of create the elegant joke you know i love this dress and i think
33:23your tailoring is amazing i love the simplicity of it i love the little surprise in the back i think all
33:30the pieces that i've seen from you are very elegant and you almost kind of know when it comes on the
33:36runway it's a laura outfit i love the impeccableness of what you do i think that's great i also think
33:42the flower by the way laura is brilliantly done kane unfortunately i put all my eggs in a basket at the
33:49recycling plant and i spent most of my time twisting off bottle caps which of course you see none um none of
33:56from here down was supposed to be here i finally just ended up going with we just need to make you
34:01look like you were just sent through the recycling plant and this is how you ended up like she's just
34:06been rolling around in the dumpster that's what i had this is really talk about looking like a
34:10costume this really looks like a costume a bad costume on top of it sure honestly i was very
34:15stressed for time and it just was a bad decision to be honest the actual design it is very intricate
34:22especially now that you're telling me that you really did this in a minute basically however you
34:27just had to stop i want to take her makeup off slicker hair back the same thing you just kept
34:32going and going and i think you've stepped over the boundary of taste jeffrey's next i went for
34:40different papers newspaper magazine paper and also um to the inside of a box you can see she she can jump
34:47around in it she can dance in it she can drink in it totally she just can't fall down i love the shape
34:54i love the fact that you were yes creative innovative and it still looks wearable and
34:59beautiful it's a great job thank you it's it's different and it looks like fabric it's the only
35:04dress here that actually moved when i walked down the runway i think the silhouette's great the trump
35:09lloyd belt is great and it's kind of like ugly beautiful yeah yeah which i think is very your aesthetic
35:17allison what did you find what are your materials i found clean sheets of yellow paper and when i
35:26brought it back to the workroom i started sculpting it and draping it on the dress form and kind of let
35:32it do what it wanted to do to me she looks huge you know i don't think that it's very uh flattering for
35:41for her body and she looks kind of like mini mouse in a way with those that funny hair on her head
35:47well i wanted to kind of make it fun she looks like a plus model in this it just is not flattering
35:52at all if this is your model you have to sort of think what's going to be best on her it's really
35:58unflattering i find that really surprising from a female designer that you would do that to a
36:05beautiful young girl who's got a great figure can we see it again from the back
36:09i don't see the innovation here it seems so like stuck together and it looks like a dinner napkin just
36:19crumpled up she's like a paper brioche
36:25we've heard what you had to say we're going to have a little chat and then we call you back
36:29now you can leave the runway okay why don't we start with laura loved it yeah loved it laura's a very
36:44chic woman and i feel like all the clothes that she always makes she would wear herself too totally
36:51michael i'm obsessed with i'd walk out of here in that right now me too me too love that gold and
36:58white combination he starts explaining it he's so he thinks about it yeah he was smart thoughtful
37:07cane it looked like a pinata or a christmas ornament i feel like i could just
37:11break it open i've never seen anything that crazy anywhere we went from marilyn monroe to frankenstein
37:17here serious lapse of taste lapse of judgment but the guy knows how to make clothes
37:22jeffrey i think that the idea of how he draped the paper over the cloth super cool the trump
37:33boy belt i love that was that was genius i thought it was a very new different color instead of a safe
37:40boring thing that everyone else does like a very smart very dress like yeah who thinks of that
37:44vincent she looked like she was walking in a refrigerator carton when she moved no it was
37:51just all those things coming out that looked like an explosion or a bad science project it looked like
37:57he likes to push the envelope a little bit ellison head to toe that was a nightmare exactly what
38:06would i rather wear would i rather look like a fat mini mouse or would i rather look slim and long
38:15okay we made our decision let's bring them back out

40:59vincent although we appreciate your creativity
41:03your dress was stiff and over the top there's a fine line between innovation and insanity
41:13allison from the silhouette to your styling choices the entire look was unflattering we can't believe
41:22that a female designer could be so careless with a female form
41:32allison
41:35you're out
