00:03You will be designing an outfit for Banana Republic.
00:07The two designers who work on the losing outfit
00:11will both be out.
00:13Do this, not hers.
00:15Horrors and tears.
00:17Zulima's in there going ape .
00:20I don't care if you cry and cut,
00:22but you got to cry and cut.
00:24Do you all have a master plan?
00:26Just cut them off.
00:28I was thinking our window looks stupid.
00:30I don't like it.
00:34She knows how to work it.
00:42I think she looks like a stewardess,
00:44and I'm waiting for her to give me a coffee.
00:47Andre and Daniel, congratulations.
00:50You're the winner of this challenge.
00:52That means, Diana and Marla, you're out.
00:55You're out.
00:57Mwah.
00:58Good evening.
00:59All right.
01:00At stake for the winner of Project Runway
01:02is a fashion spread in Elle magazine,
01:04a mentorship with the Banana Republic design team,
01:07a 2007 Saturn Sky Roadster,
01:10and $100,000 courtesy of Saturn to start your own line.
01:14This is Project Runway.
01:16Let's get it on.
01:17The search for the next big fashion designer.
01:20This is a dream come true.
01:21I'm going to do whatever it takes to win.
01:2316 designers.
01:24Everyone here is crazy.
01:26Drama has to happen.
01:28Yes, I'm a competitive person.
01:30Three finalists will make it to Olympus Fashion Week.
01:32You will see me at Fashion Week.
01:34But only one can be the winner.
01:36Heck yeah, I'm going to win this.
01:38For these 16 designers, Project Runway
01:40is a chance of a lifetime.
01:49Once Diana and Marla got eliminated
01:51and I'm actually moving with Kara and Zulema.
01:54I'd rather have my own space.
01:56But if I can't, you know, it's okay.
01:59I lived with people before.
02:01I don't think it's going to get any more competitive.
02:03I thought it was already competitive from day one.
02:05Zulema, it's Chloe.
02:07I'm here now.
02:08They made me move in here.
02:10Oh, wow, you moved in.
02:12Welcome.
02:13We'll be happy to have you, you beautiful things.
02:16Congratulations, you guys.
02:18Thanks, Antino.
02:20To be victorious with Daniel Vosovic
02:22is a really nice thing.
02:23Although I think we both have very strong aesthetics,
02:25it really, really was a collaboration.
02:32Hello.
02:33Hello.
02:34Are you guys ready for your next challenge?
02:36Yes.
02:37Yes.
02:38Too bad.
02:39Because you're not going to hear about it
02:40until tomorrow morning.
02:41What?
02:42You're going to get a little package
02:44and it will have all the details inside of it.
02:47And that's all I'm going to tell you.
02:49So let's bring out the winning and losing designers models.
02:53Models, this also is a competition for you as well.
03:04The model paired with a winner of Project Runway
03:06will get a fashion spread in Elle magazine.
03:09Daniel and Andre, you two were the winners of the last challenge.
03:15Your models were Rebecca and Danielle.
03:17If you decide to stay with them, Leslie and Cara will be out.
03:22Daniel, what do you want to do?
03:24I'll definitely be staying with Rebecca.
03:26Andre, what do you want to do?
03:28I couldn't possibly change.
03:29Congratulations.
03:30You are in.
03:32You too.
03:34You can leave the runway.
03:35I'm sorry.
03:36That means you're out.
03:37Bye.
03:38Thank you so much.
03:39Bye.
03:40Bye, you guys.
03:41Bye.
03:42Bye.
03:43Okay.
03:44You've got your models.
03:45Remember to get a good night's sleep
03:47because you will get your challenge early in the morning.
03:48I see you on the runway.
03:49Bye.
03:50Bye.
03:51Bye.
03:52Bye.
03:53Bye.
03:54Bye.
03:55Bye.
03:56Bye.
03:57Bye.
03:58Bye.
03:59Bye.
04:00Bye.
04:01Bye.
04:02Bye.
04:03Bye.
04:04Bye.
04:05Bye.
04:06Bye.
04:07Bye.
04:09Bye.
04:10Bye.
04:11Bye.
04:12Bye.
04:13Who we're going to design for?
04:14Wait, first, oh, you're going to get a package.
04:18Heidi didn't give us any information so we thought, oh no, um, what is this going be?
04:22Could it be, like one of those outfits, those people that pass out things?
04:27I want, like, some, a bird or, like, a chicken suit, I'd love that.
04:31I'm, I'm starting to go with tomorrow's challenge will concern designing for an airline.
04:36I didn't know what the challenge was
04:38because we didn't know what to expect.
04:50I can't wait for you to spend stencils.
04:56How's it going?
05:01Oh, my God!
05:03Shut up!
05:04The doorbell rang, and it was Rob from last season
05:07with a package, and he was dressed as a U.S. postman.
05:11How are you?
05:12Good.
05:13Rob.
05:14Nice to meet you.
05:15Nice to meet you.
05:16Look who it is, guys.
05:17How's it going?
05:18Hey, what's up?
05:19The packages are for you guys for the next challenge.
05:22I've got to go on my route right now
05:24and deliver it to the other contestants.
05:26He gave us each a package.
05:28We all sort of figured, oh, Lord, what could it be?
05:31Good.
05:32Bye, guys.
05:33Good.
05:34Good.
05:43Hey, top of the morning.
05:46Oh, my God.
05:47Hi, guys.
05:48Special delivery?
05:49Hi.
05:50I have to say, I was a little surprised to see Robert at the door,
05:53but I went with it.
05:54Zalima.
05:55Wow, beautiful name.
05:56Thanks.
05:57You don't recognize me, do you?
06:01Oh, yes, Mario now.
06:02Yeah, yeah, Mario.
06:03No, no, Jay.
06:04Jay.
06:05Jay.
06:06How are you?
06:07Good.
06:08Good.
06:09Good.
06:11I'm sorry.
06:12What's that?
06:13Oh, wait, wait, wait, wait.
06:14What?
06:15Whoa.
06:16Oh, hysterical.
06:18Once we opened the box, I just saw this, like, cheap velour fabric, bright colors.
06:24I had no idea what it was.
06:26Oh, no.
06:27No.
06:28What?
06:29No.
06:30What?
06:31There was a letter inside from Tim Gunn saying,
06:33Designers, part one of your challenge requires each of you to outfit yourself.
06:37Your style.
06:38Oh!
06:39Boxes.
06:40Please get dressed and meet me downstairs in the Atlas with these clothes.
06:44What?
06:45This is not my color.
06:47Once we realized that we actually have to wear this, I thought it was a blast.
06:50I don't know what it is, but I have no problem dressing like a fool.
06:55This is ballroom dancing.
06:57Mine's like a unicard.
06:59I didn't know if it was, like, a waiter's outfit or some type of dance costume.
07:07Why are you?
07:08Oh, my God.
07:09Imagine what Emmett's doing.
07:11Oh, Emmett!
07:14I mean, it's just out of control.
07:16I'm all confused.
07:20Oh, my goodness.
07:21Emmett, he was wearing a neon pink blouson top without the v-neck, with a mock turtleneck.
07:28It was, like, international, male, gone, g-g-gay-gay.
07:35Oh!
07:36You're genius, honey.
07:37You're genius.
07:38Aw, you look great.
07:39Oh, my God.
07:42You look great.
07:43Good morning.
07:44Good morning.
07:45Good morning.
07:46Good morning.
07:47Good morning.
07:48Good morning.
07:49Good morning, Tim.
07:50You're Dr. Zhivago.
07:51And then they made me do it.
07:59So you're ready for our field trip?
08:01Yes, we are.
08:02Let's go.
08:03Let's go.
08:04Oh, yeah.
08:05I'm like, okay, where are we going here?
08:07Like, I thought we looked like, you know, the lost mariachis when we were driving away
08:13when we were driving away in the van.
08:18I wasn't quite sure where we were headed.
08:20I stopped guessing.
08:24What the?
08:25Ice skating?
08:26No, look!
08:29Look at his foot.
08:30We ended up at an ice skating rink.
08:33Now I went triple crazy because all of a sudden
08:35it dawned on me, we're gonna design ice skating costumes.
08:40Oh my God.
08:43Hi!
08:44Oh wow.
08:46We got into the ice skating rink and there she was.
08:50The Sasha Cohen.
08:52I was literally speechless.
08:55Oh wow.
09:02Welcome to Ice House.
09:03I am thrilled to introduce you to world silver medalist
09:06and 2002 Olympian, Sasha Cohen.
09:09Oh my God, I'm standing ten feet away from Sasha Cohen in this tacky costume.
09:16And Sasha is going to introduce your next challenge.
09:18Your next challenge is to make a figure skating costume for me.
09:26Can I ask you, Sasha, what's most important to you in your costume?
09:30It's really important for the outfits to stretch really well using Lycra's elastic so the panties
09:36stay on and the top stays up.
09:38And it's important for them to not be too heavy so that we can still jump and spin in them.
09:43It's not just a pretty dress, it is a functional garment that has to perform tricks, basically.
09:51So why don't you guys all go get your skates on and come out here and I'll give you guys a lesson.
09:56I was a little hesitant.
09:57I've only ice skated once before in my life.
10:00Yay!
10:01I just died and went to heaven.
10:03I was just like, oh, Lord.
10:06I need help.
10:07All right.
10:13Hold on, we're playing tag.
10:14I always get into it when I watch the shows.
10:24Look at Sasha.
10:25I love Sasha.
10:26You doing okay?
10:28I can't set myself in motion.
10:30It was a draw who was the most awkward.
10:32It was definitely between Tim Gunn and Cara.
10:37And they both looked like they were petrified of the ice.
10:43It's called the shoot the duck.
10:50It's the dip.
10:51Oh, that's hot.
10:55Man, I love ice skating.
10:57Wind and then go.
10:59There's definitely a healthy amount of competition in the workroom, but it felt like we were kind of bonding a little bit.
11:06Too much competition is a little much.
11:09All right, let's all do a choo-choo around the rink.
11:12And let's try to do it maybe, you know, in ascending order by height.
11:18Okay.
11:19So we'll be in the front.
11:20Okay.
11:21All right.
11:22This is bad.
11:26Yeah, it is.
11:27I'm fine.
11:28I'm fine.
11:29Don't worry about me, Tim.
11:30I'm going to make it a little bit more curvy.
11:33All right.
11:38Ride is now over.
11:43Oh, thank you guys.
11:44We're great.
11:46It was fun.
11:47Good luck with everything.
11:49I can't wait to see you guys on the runway.
11:52Coming up on Project Runway.
11:55It broke.
11:56Oh, he's going to kill me.
11:58Everyone needs that machine.
12:00If you it up, you're going to have to thread it yourself.
12:03This challenge is to design an ice skating costume for Sasha Cohen.
12:16Okay, everybody, you have 30 minutes to sketch and you have $150 budget.
12:23And there's one other thing.
12:25Counting today, you have two days for this challenge.
12:27Sasha, she's a very petite little girl.
12:34You just don't want to put her in something that's too heavy, too heavy looking, too bold.
12:39Sasha Cohen is really pretty.
12:41I'd like her to be a dark princess and not quite so smiley happy and certainly still dramatic,
12:47but maybe a little bit menacing.
12:49It's a lot of things to consider making this ice skating dress for her.
12:54This is a tough challenge, I think.
12:56How are you all doing?
12:57Good.
12:58You ready to go shopping?
12:59Yes.
13:00Okay, good.
13:01Guess what, everybody?
13:02You can't change.
13:03Oh, I knew it.
13:04No, I knew it.
13:05Off we go.
13:06Oh, this is so evil.
13:08Have you found that four-way stretch?
13:13This is more like it.
13:15This fabric is four-way stretch.
13:17It's tough to sew.
13:19I am doing an ice princess sort of theme.
13:23It's about this woman going from being ugly to this, like, beautiful swan.
13:27Is this just Jersey up here?
13:29Two yards to this, please.
13:31I thought about the midnight sky and the sparkling stars.
13:36Navy makes a very strong statement.
13:40Silver is a nice complement to that.
13:42So, it'll be very strong from a distance and very pretty up close.
13:47We stopped at Daytona and picked up some trims.
13:50I think I spent $50 on all my fabrics and $90 on trims.
14:01This is a challenge to the extreme for me.
14:03I am not a sequin girl.
14:05I have never used sequin before.
14:08I have never used glitter, beading, or anything like that.
14:11There's no iron on this color.
14:13That's what I need.
14:14That looks more of me.
14:15Yeah.
14:16Okay, can I get five inches of this?
14:18Two of this one.
14:20How much are these trims?
14:22Santino, he likes to be really theatrical, you know, really ornate.
14:26A lot of things hanging everywhere.
14:28And not everybody can carry it at all.
14:31One black, one red.
14:34Nick?
14:35Yes.
14:36You have three minutes.
14:37Okay.
14:38Okay.
14:39Three.
14:40Okay.
14:41Four.
14:42Let's do it.
14:49My dress for Sasha, it's going to be made of mainly silk chiffon, cut on the bias.
14:53It's going to overlap to each other.
14:55And so let's really figure out how to sew that into a stretch.
14:59My charmeuse is stretch.
15:00Yeah.
15:01And this is stretch as well.
15:03I kind of like it glittery though.
15:04I mean, it verges on tacky.
15:07This was a crash course for me to work with stretch fabrics and my whole career has been
15:14as a menswear designer.
15:15For me, womenswear is like a completely new way of expressing myself.
15:21I don't know how much of a judge I am, a good judge on ice skating outfits.
15:26So you're really, it's the blind leading the blind here, you know?
15:29I think Emmett is a bit out of his league.
15:31I just don't think technically and design wise, he's at the point where he needs to be
15:36to have his own womenswear line.
15:38How hard is this stuff to seam together, Cara?
15:41As long as you keep it flat, as long as you don't pull at it while you're sewing.
15:46You know?
15:47Yeah.
15:48You've got to realize that it's got so much movement that you've got to keep it completely...
15:54I don't know, I've never done it on a machine like this.
15:56Nix, does that look really bad?
15:58I'm not teaching today.
16:01I think Cara is constantly asking way too many questions from other people, asking what
16:07everybody else thinks.
16:08I could pin that there, and then it just does this sort of thing.
16:12I would definitely go for that.
16:13Look, it's so easy, and you got this already there for me.
16:16Yeah.
16:17Go for it, trust your instincts.
16:21Sentinel.
16:23I don't know what the hell he's doing.
16:25Is that both sides?
16:26You need to stop.
16:27No, no, I'm just asking.
16:28Right now, Chloe.
16:29You know, there's only eight of us now.
16:31This group is really about, you have the talent and the skill, you should stay.
16:34Well, you know, nobody asked my opinion.
16:37I would say something.
16:38I think Santino, he's very talented, and he has a great eye, but for this challenge,
16:45it's a little over the top.
16:47The way Santino works is that he cuts directly on fabric, he goes to the sewing machine, and
16:53he starts tacking on things.
16:54So I think already you saw, wait a minute, what the hell is going on?
16:58There's just already too much going on in the back of his garment.
17:01I never sew.
17:02I know how to, but I don't.
17:03Do you have an overlock at home?
17:16I use my overlockers and my coverstitch machine.
17:21The overlock machines are specifically geared to sew stretch fabrics, and without these machines,
17:28it makes it considerably difficult to sew anything that is supposed to expand or contract.
17:35Sewing without an overlock machine is like sewing with one hand tied behind your back.
17:40I cannot believe this.
17:41What happened?
17:42It broke.
17:43It broke.
17:44I need a screwdriver.
17:47No.
17:48No, not in this one and the other one.
17:53Off with her head.
17:57I decided that I was going to figure out how the overlock machines were threaded while the
18:02other designers are working on their ice skating outfits.
18:09Andre was wonderful enough to not even start his project yet, to go in the sewing room and
18:16actually fix the overlock machine.
18:18I wouldn't, because I would have never finished.
18:27Andre's so dramatic.
18:28Oh, it's, it's the end of the world.
18:31Cannot use the overlock.
18:36So, I have just finished threading both of those overlocks.
18:41They work now.
18:43So, if you it up, anybody who it up, you're going to have to thread it yourself.
18:51I'd freak out when things aren't perfect.
18:54So, I got the overlock machines working, but I didn't have enough time to work on my outfit.
19:08Coming up on Project Runway.
19:09She looks like, like a baboon's ass exploded on her backside.
19:15Santino's piss just looks crazy.
19:18I want your sauce!
19:24I'm not against helping people, but, um, I'm not going to help you at the expense of my own project.
19:31Everyone was relieved that I fixed the overlock machines.
19:34If it's broken, again, I'm not going to try and fix it.
19:38I think just the fact that more designers are leaving, it's obviously becoming more competitive for all of us.
19:44I hope we can go through this and just let the best designer win.
19:48And then, there were eight.
20:00Hi, everybody. How are you?
20:02I just want to give you a little make it work talk, primarily about the machines.
20:06I had maintenance look at them, but they can only do so much.
20:09So just make them work as well as you can.
20:12You may need to do things by hand that you wouldn't want to do otherwise.
20:15Emmett, how are you doing?
20:17In the front, I have the open neckline with the mesh.
20:22And I will have the sequins going on top of this in the Van Gogh pattern of the Starry Night.
20:28My only concern is this looks so dark.
20:31Well, I'll see it further along.
20:33How's Zulema?
20:34I'm doing okay.
20:35I'm doing Swan Lake.
20:37I'm going to have her, like, almost iced over.
20:40And I'm taking white sequin, and I'm doing feather shapes.
20:45And I'm going to put the sequin around with some glitter.
20:48This sounds very ambitious, but it also sounds really beautiful.
20:51How are you feeling about time?
20:52Always rushing to the end.
20:54How's Andre?
20:55This is Princess Cyclone.
20:57It's going to be all symmetrical and with movement going diagonally around the body.
21:02Well, I'm anxious to see where this goes.
21:03Definitely stay tuned.
21:04Okay, Andre.
21:05Can I see you, Cara, in what you're doing?
21:07I try to just see what would happen if I put my sparkles on.
21:11What about the placement of this?
21:13I think it's very classical.
21:15It's a little bit of an edge, you know?
21:17Just be careful that there's enough innovation here that the judges don't say,
21:23haven't we seen this before?
21:25Cara's outfit.
21:27I just know that I wouldn't have designed something like that.
21:31It was so basic, but not in a Calvin Klein way.
21:34It was basic in a JCPenney way.
21:37How's Santino?
21:38Hey, Tim.
21:39Basically, the inspiration for this piece is a phoenix rising from the flames.
21:44These are my sketches.
21:45I want to play with cut, like a little bit of cut out and then, you know, maybe some feathers.
21:51I'm a little conflicted about how to talk to you about this.
21:55Okay.
21:56Right.
21:57It's like it's Santino.
21:58It's so over the top.
21:59Right.
22:00There's a way of responding to Michael and Nina that's less you.
22:05You have so much.
22:08It's aesthetically not pleasing.
22:10I'm sorry.
22:11I'm sorry, Nina.
22:13Trying to make like the biggest dramatic statement that I can send down the runway, that's where I'm at.
22:19I'm not doing something traditional and not doing something lame.
22:23It's a dramatic statement.
22:25And that looks like something.
22:29Okay, everybody.
22:30You have until midnight tonight.
22:40Tim gone, Tim gone.
22:42If he calls your name, you're gone.
22:49I'm mad.
22:50N-N-N-N-N-N-N-N-N-N-N-N-N-N-N-N-N-S-E-C-A-D-L-L-L-L-L-L-L-L-L-L-L-L-L-L-L-L-L-L-L-L-L-L-L-M-L-L-L.
22:55Okay, the shoe is yours.
22:57Oh!
22:59Oh!
23:00Oh!
23:01Oh!
23:02Oh!
23:03Oh!
23:04Oh!
23:05Oh!
23:06Oh!
23:07Oh!
23:08Oh!
23:09Oh!
23:10Oh, I'm dry!
23:11What was that?
23:12The needle.
23:13That just, that flew into the air?
23:15It like broke?
23:16Yeah.
23:17It broke.
23:18I didn't do anything out of the ordinary and this thing just overlock
23:34everyone's designs are teetering on those machines it's very difficult to do
23:42stretch without an overlock all I have to say is grief I'm so free-stricken right now I don't think
23:53it's anybody's fault I think it's the machine no it's not the machine's fault the person who
23:59touches it is the variant no one can finish their garments properly and I wouldn't be surprised
24:05if there aren't a few pop scenes on the runway tomorrow just start gluing on I can't yet I can't
24:11just glue it it's funny how fast hand sewing goes sometimes oh yeah now you're going to see who's
24:20really creative to see who has successfully put this garment together without the seams popping
24:26I've got a lot to do
24:35oh it's just dumb it's just bad valley of the dolls
24:42if I could hand tack it like that call it a day
24:47no not like that that's ugly well it's late
24:50I'm dying to see Santino's because his just looks crazy I don't know what the this is going to be
25:02she looks like like a baboon that's exploded on her backside okay Michael what else
25:13sure just wait I've told him I said just be ready to to back it up I think the judges might say he
25:19missed the mark again in regards to the client over your little ass Chloe come on come on come on
25:28like we're only halfway yeah if we make it one more challenge I think we're all in pretty good
25:42shape yeah or do you think mine's off
25:45I can't believe I have to put this on again
26:01well baby thank goodness we're all doing it again
26:05we wanted to our outfits to the runway show to kind of tone down the seriousness and add some
26:12humor and I'd kind of just put us in good spirits you must do it naturally can I have to trust me
26:18hairspray you'll ask me nothing you've become the designer that it's fun to with but I said that
26:27every time I get up on the runway my adrenaline starts pumping like I'm back in the corner and
26:32I'm ready to get into a fist fight the bottom line is I can talk my way out of a situation or I could
26:37eat them like and if it comes down to like having to eat somebody I'll eat somebody
26:42all right
26:42time is ticking away
26:50Andre did you see my tassels
26:55my tassels Chloe don't worry about it it's just so Christmassy what do you think Cara
27:03oh that's it let it go now maybe that's why I should put it in it'll pick up the light possibly I
27:10think you should put it in and you can't tell all right everybody the time has come you have one hour
27:20for the Theresa May hair salon for the L'Oreal Paris makeup room and to fit them carry on
27:27race is six feet tall and I think either she's gonna be barefooted or with a ballerina slip on
27:35let's hope this fits right okay this is your outfit wow isn't it funny this tubes and then you just put
27:43an arm on even just you know and then just do a twirl and then go that's perfection that amazing
27:55sequence continuously I was a little uncertain about the outfit only because I had never worked
28:00with sequin before I'm hoping that when my model comes down the runway my vision comes to life yeah
28:07let's go to hair and makeup like blue like ice define the eyes reds pinks thank you babe thank you
28:20wow it really gives you a g why did you give it so much it just got to be crunch time and I just
28:38kept adding stuff to it it's like fire it's already so much I know but it's really a lot up here and
28:47pretend you like it please and just sell it because I know they're gonna call on me again
28:52to explain myself and you know I'm gonna tell them that I love it all right everybody the time has
28:59come come on all right this is it coming up on project runway there's entirely too much 2d being
29:07exposed it's slightly vulgar in my opinion it's like an old lady ice skater
29:12welcome to the runway I have eight little ice skaters in front of me well as you know in fashion one day
29:29you're in and the next day you're out there's eight of you now eight little ice skaters and at
29:36the end of tonight there will be seven three of you will make it to Olympus fashion week where the winner
29:42will be chosen your challenge was to design a figure skating dress for Sasha Cohen two-time world
29:50silver medalist and Olympian at the 2002 winter games we gave you a hundred fifty dollars for
29:58fabrics and supplies and two days to put it together all right let's meet the judges fashion designer
30:06Michael course and slowly fashion news director of L magazine and your client Sasha Cohen Sasha has
30:17agreed to wear the winning design in an upcoming figure skating exhibition we will be scoring your
30:24designs as they come down the runway one of you will be named the winner and one of you will be out
30:30let's start the show when Rebecca came down the runway I thought she looked amazing the outfit look it
30:48looked really nice so I was very happy for that
31:03when she came down the runway she really looked naked with like just sequins sectioned all over her body I really liked it a lot
31:10it's always really great to see the outfit come down the runway it just looked amazing I thought it had
31:26some razzle-dazzle in it and that's what I was going for some church I was very proud of what I had put
31:42together for the runway it was a very tasteful ensemble
32:01I feel like I've done something that's clever and modern and different but still hits all the marks that you need to do when you design an ice skating costume
32:09I felt that what I had made for Sasha Cohen was a great concept and I think that with more time I could have taken it somewhere
32:26going into the runway show for Sasha Cohen I was very very excited I was proud of my design I felt good
32:56my skating outfit look really good and grace and have a bit of a concern with her wearing it because she's so tall
33:03I think it worked out pretty well I was pleased with it
33:05designers we've tallied your scores if I call your name please step forward Nick
33:35Daniel
33:38Andre
33:42if I have called your name please leave the runway your scores have qualified you to move to the next challenge thank you
33:54the five remaining designers have the highest and the lowest scores
34:06we'll bring out your models ask you some questions one of you will be named the winner and one of you will be out
34:13let's bring out your models
34:26I would like to start with Chloe
34:29Sasha the color is definitely something that's not used much on the ice and it's also very creative I've never seen a dress really start from kind of like skirt from the top all the way to the bottom
34:41but I'm not sure with my figure if it would give me much shape because I'm pretty straight
34:48shape wise I was concerned that so I made smaller one and bigger one down here so that you can at least see this shape
34:54you thought about trying to make something feminine and different and also it is nice to see a different color for this world
35:04I think it's great looking
35:06I would like to continue with Cara
35:09what was your concept
35:11who is this woman what era is she from
35:14she's 1920s she's all that jazz
35:17I really kind of drew inspiration from that
35:19typically with an ice skaters thighs
35:22I think the fringe could be quite unflattering
35:26to me it's very Vegas
35:27I think I could see it you know a Bob Fosse moment or whatever
35:30but if I really think of Sasha it doesn't feel like her to me
35:37Emmett
35:38yes
35:39can I ask you to turn around so I can look at the back
35:42thank you
35:43I'm not too keen on the style of the skirt I would say
35:47the shortness of the skirt bothers me tremendously
35:51there's entirely too much tootie being exposed
35:55it's slightly vulgar in my opinion
35:58on the mannequin that I fit this on
36:00it's a different shape than the model
36:02so it's not supposed to be that short
36:04the style looks sort of like how it always has been
36:07and I feel like now you want to look for like new shapes in ice skating
36:12it's like an old lady ice skater
36:14Zulima see what Sasha has to say about your dress
36:19the color is nice
36:21I think that it was really creative the swirls that you used around the design
36:26it's definitely something that looks like it would work on the ice
36:31it's a nice creation you have
36:33it looks very sort of skate friendly plus it's sexy without being vulgar
36:40it's got it's got a chic look to it
36:43thank you
36:46Santino
36:47hey Heidi
36:48hello
36:49Sasha how do you like Santino's dress
36:52well I have to say that I definitely like the ruching on the stomach
36:56and I think if I remember the back was pretty big
37:00yeah there is a lot going on
37:02yeah there's a lot of chiffon and netting to create the illusion of fire
37:09a phoenix rising from the flames
37:11once again I always am trying to push myself and change the shapes that I know of
37:16and that I've seen before
37:17and I was trying to create something that was you know conceptual and inspirational
37:23and maybe you know
37:24from the waist up I would agree
37:26I actually really love the elegance of the feather detail
37:30the back is it's like Carmen Miranda on acid
37:35you know I feel like yeah I did take some risks and I am pretty happy with what I've created
37:42it is beyond not flattering
37:44to me unless she was opening a Thanksgiving pageant and the Indians were chasing the turkey I can't even imagine
37:52you've got a lot of ideas
37:54you very conceptual but it's about her
37:58no totally
37:59it's really about her
38:00I don't think you're looking at the woman involved and the project at hand
38:05we've seen your designs we've heard what you had to say
38:08we're gonna have a little chat and I'm gonna call you back
38:11thank you you can leave the runway
38:15who is our favorite?
38:23I am torn
38:25I can definitely see you in Zulima's dress and I can see you in Chloe's dress
38:29how about Chloe?
38:31it was such a good base
38:33the turquoise was very pretty because it wasn't the usual
38:38she definitely thinks a little bit outside of the box
38:40she is modern and simple
38:42and woman friendly
38:44I will say this
38:45clean line
38:46clean, woman friendly
38:47I go for the turquoise
38:50how did you like Cara's ice skating dress?
38:53I'm not sure if the straight dropping tassel skirt would give much flow or much shape on the ice
39:00it didn't strike me as so unusual and special
39:03there wasn't anything in it that sort of made me think of you
39:10how did you like Zulima's dress?
39:12I saw it as having potential
39:14white looks good on me
39:16it looks good on the ice
39:17and it had a tight fitting form
39:19it was different around the bust
39:21and it had a real interesting kind of swirl in here
39:25and it looked really elegant
39:29what did you think of Emmett's?
39:31I thought that he didn't use any creativity
39:34he picked fabric with something in it
39:36but there was no design
39:38there was no imagination definitely in Emmett's dress
39:40that outfit looks so dowdy
39:42it looked very vulgar
39:43it's not easy to be vulgar and dowdy
39:46but he managed to do it
39:48how about Santino?
39:50it was definitely could never work for a skating dress
39:53because it had like you know a storage backpack in the back
39:56I am ready to give Santino my ofidas in today
39:59he's supposed to design a dress for you
40:01god doesn't he want to listen?
40:04he never listens
40:05it doesn't seem to know how to reign it in
40:07you know it's just all expression no editing
40:10I think it's crazy
40:11what's worse?
40:12not going far enough
40:15or going too far
40:18alright let's bring them back out
40:24the five of you represent the best
40:26and the worst
40:31one of you will be named the winner
40:33and one of you will be out
40:35Cara, you're in. You can leave the runway. Thank you. Thank you.
