01:17For these fifteen contestants, Project Runway is the chance of a lifetime.
01:21It was definitely sad seeing Robert leave just because we kept up all the banter and making fun of Laura and Angela and everyone else here, I guess.

01:35But, you know, I am excited that I'm here not to be selfish.
01:38I was happy for myself to win.
01:42It's a good shot in the arm.
01:43It keeps me going now for the next challenge.

01:58Having the amount of children that I have has never stopped me from moving forward in the past, so I'm sure it's not going to stop me from moving forward in this venture either.

05:14I thought it might be Tara Reid because she's the only jet setter that I can think of that
05:18was hip.
05:19She had that show, Tara Dice, and she always took off her tops and showed her boobies.

05:55I'm an international trendy jet setter, so I was really happy about that.
06:02For me, it's kind of a shock.
06:03I've never made men's clothing in my life.
06:05You will each model your own look.

06:31To me, a jet setter is somebody who has tons of extra money, who can just jet set around the world.

06:39A jet setter would definitely be looking to pack things that don't raincoat.
06:43So you have to have an outfit that is comfortable, breathable, and it's going to travel well.
06:52My husband and I live on a farm in Ohio.
06:55It's very rural and isolated, so I really can't wrap my mind around flying to different countries just to go to parties.
07:05I went with a cocktail dress.
07:06I thought it would be the quickest way to go, and I didn't want to get caught in a time crunch.
07:11I never made menswear in my life.
07:12I think this challenge is perfect for me.
07:14I'm making a rock and roll, single button blazer, a black fish mouth t-shirt, and I'm making these tight pinstripe pants.
07:21I'm not going to have a problem with the design.
07:23It's really just going to be the execution.

07:45At Mood, I got this gorgeous Versace silk burnout fabric.
07:48What I'm doing is a black crisp shirt, very tailored, snaps down the front, and then I'm using the Versace print, cutting it out and putting it on the back and on one sleeve.

09:09But in terms of it being like the luxurious lifestyle in Europe, to me that's just really

10:19I climbed quite a mountain and made quite an accomplishment to send something like that down the runway
10:22and still be sure.
10:23He was making me so angry, I was just going to completely lose it.

11:25Angela's calculating and she knows what she's doing, so as far as I'm concerned, she's fair game.

11:34But you can't afford to do that on Project Runway because you need to get your work done
11:39and you need to have it be the best that it can be.
11:42I was just, you know, thankful that I'm not involved.
11:44It's a one day challenge and we don't really have time to dick around with everyone's personal problem.

11:51He can just go on being his mean nasty self and I don't really give a crap.

12:11For this challenge, we're going to be designing an outfit for a hip international jet setter.
12:25So we've got to make a complete outfit with $75 from 2 o'clock in the afternoon till midnight.
12:31So that's like 10 hours to make an outfit.
12:35It's not easy to make two pieces in a day.
12:38So we have to race, race, race, race, race, and you just have to trust your gut.
12:41So it's a tough situation.

18:37i'm doing really good i'm done it's gonna be fun to walk down to rock down the runway

19:12i wasn't gonna waste any time on the hair and makeup i need to get that shirt done and the shirt
19:19came out looking really really cool it was a real modern take on the white button i was pleased with
19:26it and i really think i have a great chance at winning
19:32i feel so close to having something great but i just need a little bit more time to make it perfect
19:39i was a little afraid of kane's outfit it really was just an absolute bungle in my opinion
19:47personally i love kane but he just has this tackiness that just doesn't translate to high fashion

20:13hello hey welcome back to the runway as you can see there are empty chairs behind me and that's
20:25because for this challenge we asked the designers to create a hip jet set travel outfit for themselves
20:32and they will be modeling the looks and i wanted us to be surprised
20:35we gave them 75 in one day to put it together so are we ready for this let's start the show
20:52i was quite concerned about making a menswear outfit because i never really made one before
20:57so i gave it my best shot it was very simple and it was based on cut it came out pretty good
21:11it actually felt amazing walking up and down the runway the clothes i was wearing gave me confidence
21:17i just felt like i was emanating this like here i am i don't really care what you think i actually felt
21:24like a rock star
21:32walking down the runway was incredibly uncomfortable i just thought focus on what you feel confident
21:38about i felt confident in the pants and i loved my bag and so i just went with that
21:44i was thinking that i looked pregnant and not just chubby but i still felt very confident in the dress
21:58itself my construction techniques are flawless i just i'm good at what i do
22:03i was more excited to get on the runway than creating the garment just because i wanted to get a little
22:16shine on the cargo pants came out really really hot and i looked great
22:21i actually feel really really good about my design i think it's very cool i loved it and i felt
22:33comfortable in it it's totally something that i would definitely definitely buy
22:38about i love to wear dresses to go to dinner or to a bar and to go out and you can travel with it really
22:53easily
23:13we've scored your designs and we would like to ask all of you some questions
23:17but first i want to introduce the judges we have top american designer michael kors hey guys
23:25nina garcia fashion director of el magazine hello and our special guest francisco costa
23:32creative director for carven klein women's collection
23:39i would like to start with uli and why don't you tell us where you think you're going in your outfit
23:44i live in miami and i'm getting invited to a lot of parties as a stylist i always have to look pulled
23:49together i can wear the flip-flops and i can put higher shoes on and just go straight to the party
23:54what we often do this party often starts in the airplane already i want to go to these parties and
24:01yeah and that's me and it's it's something which represents me well i think it's i can appreciate
24:06your design talent there to make whatever you just described but i think it's i think it's a bit over
24:11the top that kind of style works in miami works in the caribbean it's great in l.a
24:20works in the south of france um and then you're going to run into some problems it looks like
24:26miami hawaii la strictly it's the fun thing that's where i go usually but you know what maybe uli i guess
24:34what it boils down to quite simply we have seen you in dresses like this before it's obviously your
24:39signature can you do something else can we see something else too
24:45angela where are you going this is silk linen and um i wanted like a loose flowy top and i wanted to
24:53add my fun angela details so i did the the back um of the pants are signature angela so i think you
25:02picked the worst fabric possible for the shorts fabrics are really i don't think it's a very happy
25:10choice there lineage you can't just travel in it it's not very practical you're a mess just standing
25:18so i mean traveling you're going to just be like a homeless person
25:21laura where are you going um well my idea of a jet setter is that they travel to go to parties i mean
25:32most people just go to parties in their local area but jet setters get to go to parties all over the
25:37world so i sort of made a dress that you could go to a party in yeah i had questioned the knot in the
25:42back because i don't think it would be rather uncomfortable to be sitting on a plane for a couple
25:47hours let me see the back actually you could bring it to the front yeah you could actually
25:52really bring it to the front yes exactly when you think jet setter if you think of many places is it
25:59going to translate and look chic and look smart and look and i think this dress does thank you
26:08jeffrey where are you going oh is it not apparent i'm uh first to the jet which may have to sit on the
26:14runway for a while until everyone calms down uh and then uh you know to a concert to an interview to a
26:24party i come from a music background i've been a touring musician and i've made a lot of clothes for
26:29people whose images make them and they really are jet setters well i know i think it looked great i
26:35think i totally see i see the personality behind it you know the choice of fabrics the colors you know
26:41the pattern it's creative it's really designed and i like it very much it does not look like 75
26:47dollars you know it looks very expensive you do look like a rockstar this is current this is what's
26:54happening now it's jet set it will work in london rome tokyo so yeah i loved it
27:04vincent when i travel i like to feel comfortable the pants are a cotton stretch
27:10the top is a heather jersey i like minimal i like ease and uh this is me i think it is the safest
27:19that you could have possibly done or anyone could have done i think it looks great i really do to
27:24me it's an intellectual way of approaching you know um it's a lifestyle too it has to be impeccable
27:32and it doesn't look so impeccable from here to me it looks like the pajamas that they hand you
27:38in a first class seat it's comfortable it's basic it's all of that but i i don't see any attitude or
27:45or any twist i'm the twist this is a design competition michael knight hello where do you
27:56think you're going in your outfit i'm actually imagining myself going to the hamptons and i'm
28:01the cheap chill with p diddy pretty much i'm a product of the hip-hop generation you know hence
28:07the bling a little bit i really love american style and fabrics hence the seersucker and the
28:14stretch cotton i love white i think um you always look fresh and clean and um that's what i wanted to
28:21do i think he looks quite smart and i love the shirt as well thank you
28:24i see where you're going i i liked it i think the pants are really cool um first of seersucker
28:36happens to be the greatest thing in the world to travel with because it doesn't wrinkle because it
28:40is wrinkled i love the little bit of bling i think the white's great looks great on you but i think it's
28:46a great way to look thank you kane why don't you tell us where you think you're going in your outfit
28:55i took it as if i was going somewhere international then i um was going to be super excited and hopefully
29:00i was famous by that point and my paparazzi would be at the airport waiting for me to get out of my
29:04limo blah blah so i'd want to step out and then be like oh my god he looks fabulous like always that's
29:09kane and that's what you get kane or elvis elvis is alive and well right here to me it does seem a
29:19little suspended in time and the time is elvis to me the pants fit beautifully i think the outfit's
29:27made very well but it looks like a costume it's just too much if the paparazzi were chasing you
29:35you're gonna be the big lead picture and what was he thinking
29:41okay we've heard what you had to say one of you will be named the winner
29:48and one of you will be out but not tonight
29:57because we want to see how these outfits travel
29:59so we're gonna send you on a little trip
30:07there are plane tickets for you in your apartments

30:55right now and i was pretty shocked that's for real boy yeah let's go it was like a big surprise we didn't
31:02know where we were going it's on dude what's up we didn't know what to pack what to bring for how
31:08many days it was wild
31:16it doesn't say anything of course not the tickets didn't have the destination on it so i don't know
31:21if we're going to iceland or australia get the packed quick
31:25i was running through the different scenarios yes we're going somewhere but who knows what's
31:31going to happen once we get there calm down it would be great if we went to budapest or istanbul
31:44i hope it's not a 16-hour flight if we do a 16-hour flight we won't live to get off the plane oh yes we would
31:51i thought it's probably one of the fashion metro ports in in europe either london or milan

33:59it's always amazing to arrive in paris the city in real life is just always more beautiful than
34:21any pictures you see i got off that plane without a wrinkle it was really really good at the same
34:35time i was dying to find out why were we here why were we in paris what is this parsons paris kids oh my
34:42god parsons paris shut the hell up when i saw parsons paris i was like damn like i had no idea that

36:03thank you for being here katherine malandrino is completely chic she's somebody that i admire because
36:09i really like her line her style and everything that she does i was really starstruck she's beautiful
36:16and and creative and just inspirational welcome to paris we're thrilled to have you here designers
36:24we just arrived but unfortunately in a few moments one of you will be out
36:37unfortunately today one of you will be out it seems so cruel that someone had to fly all the
36:49way to paris just to get eliminated and turn around and fly home i have your score totals from the runway
36:57show katherine will be scoring now and her score added to these will determine who will be the winner
37:05and who will be out ideas me to see how your outfit traveled i'm here to judge on that and your outfit
37:14now is going to be as important as it was on the runway
37:21each of you will walk from the back table to the front table and back again okay
37:26my garment traveled really poorly the linen got more crinkled and wrinkled but i like that better
37:36i'm not oppressed kind of gal my garment actually traveled really really well i chose two fabrics that
37:45had microfiber in them so they don't wrinkle
37:47my garment looked as though i just got up that morning put those clothes on it was nice it was very comfortable
38:03my outfit was made to travel i really can't express just how comfortable i was in the clothes that i made
38:11the dress traveled very well my feet didn't fare so well in the four inch heels but the dress did
38:19great it traveled impeccably and it was very comfortable when we finally got to paris
38:26my pants were fine my shirt was fine
38:29my garment traveled well i felt pretty good in my dress i was pretty happy
38:47designers katherine has added her scores to the runway totals from new york
