00:01Previously on Project Runway,
00:03the next challenge, you will be designing an evening gown.
00:06Oh, God.
00:08I have a big surprise.
00:09It's Eamon.
00:11Oh, my God!
00:14Everybody's garment was off.
00:16No, it wasn't.
00:17Yeah, it was.
00:18Yeah, it was.
00:19Yeah, it was.
00:20Daniel's full of .
00:21It's, like, straight-up just jealousy.
00:24What's really special about it?
00:26You need to think about how to respond to that.
00:28You just have to say, Nina,
00:30I wanted her to look like she had a big fat ass.
00:31Uh-huh.
00:39Daniel, you're the winner.
00:41Chloe and Santino,
00:43you are going to Olympus Fashion Week.
00:47Auf Wiedersehen.
00:50This is Project Runway.
00:52Let's get it on.
00:53The search for the next big fashion designer.
00:55This is a dream come true.
00:57We're going to do whatever it takes to win.
00:5916 designers.
01:00Everyone here is crazy.
01:01Drama has to happen.
01:03Yes, I'm a competitive person.
01:05Three finalists will make it to Olympus Fashion Week.
01:07You will see me at Fashion Week.
01:09But only one can be the winner.
01:11Heck yeah, I'm going to win this.
01:12For these 16 designers, Project Runway is a chance of a lifetime.
01:16Hello.
01:17Hi, Heidi.
01:18Congratulations.
01:20Our three finalists.
01:21And now you face your biggest challenge.
01:22A 12-piece collection for Olympus Fashion Week.
01:25I'm giving each of you $8,000 in the next few months to do your collection at home.
01:31The winner will get a spread in Elle magazine, a mentorship with the Banana Republic design team, a year of representation from Designers Management Agency, a 2007 Saturn Sky Roadster, and $100,000 courtesy of Saturn to start your own project.
01:49Wow.
01:50Got it?
01:51Yeah.
01:52Good.
01:53So there's only four models left.
01:54And there's three of you there.
01:55So let's bring them out.
02:19Models, this also is a competition for you as well.
02:22The model paired with a winner of Project Runway will get a fashion spread in Elle magazine.
02:28Daniel, you were the winner of the last challenge.
02:33Your model was Rebecca.
02:35If you decide to stay with her, Eden will be out.
02:39What do you want to do?
02:40I'm going to stay with Rebecca.
02:42Congratulations, Rebecca, Heather, and Grace.
02:47You guys will be featured at Olympus Fashion Week, and one of you will get the spread in Elle magazine.
02:53Congratulations.
02:54You can leave the runway.
03:00That means you're out.
03:03You did a great job.
03:05Auf Wiedersehen.
03:07All right.
03:08Head back to your apartments at Gotham City's Atlas, New York, and Tim and I will meet you there to wave you all goodbye.
03:20Bye.
03:21Bye.
03:22Bye.
03:23This is your last reprieve.
03:28So look around New York and take all this in.
03:31There's a lot ahead of you guys.
03:33While you guys all are having fun with the champagne, I'm having the lovely apple cider.
03:37But anyway, I have to say we have a good bunch over here.
03:40Excellent bunch.
03:41Right?
03:42It's a good season.
03:43And here's to your success at Olympus Fashion Week.
03:48And Project Broadway.
03:49Project Broadway.
03:50Project Broadway.
03:51Yay.
03:52Cheers.
03:53Cheers.
03:54Cheers.
03:57Later.
04:01I made it.
04:02I feel so good.
04:03I want to blow out eardrums with how loud I can scream.
04:07Woo.
04:08No matter how much Santino pisses me off, the arrogant prick is extremely talented.
04:26And I have to say I am excited to see what he's going to show during Fashion Week.
04:31Goodbye, Atlas.
04:32You are good to me.
04:35It kind of just dawned on me like, wow.
04:38I'm in the final three.
04:40This is really cool.
04:42Wow.
04:43Okay, I see you in five months.
04:45Bye.
04:46Good luck with everything.
04:47You too.
04:48Bye.
04:51I don't think it's really truly spoken to me how big this opportunity is.
04:55I'm so grateful for this chance.
04:58I'm traveling to check on the collections of our three finals.
05:10First up, I'm going to visit Santino Rice, who's been working on his collection in Los Angeles.
05:23Santino!
05:24Can you believe this?
05:25Good to see you.
05:26Good to see you.
05:27Oh my God.
05:28It's surreal seeing Tim again.
05:29You look great.
05:30Right when I came home, there was a period of time where I couldn't believe that I had
05:34just done the show.
05:36Right now, I'm renting a house in Hollywood, and that's where I have my studio set up.
05:41All right, let's look at the collection.
05:43Okay.
05:44So Santino, what's the theme of the collection?
05:4640's glamour, Hollywood, boudoir, publicity still.
05:51This piece is almost pretty fully realized.
05:55It's beautiful.
05:56I had its sunburst pleated.
05:58I get a little bit of a rock and roll feel, in a way, from it.
06:02Yeah.
06:03Well, you're taking a risk with this too, which I applaud.
06:05It's not safe.
06:06Yeah.
06:07This is a work in progress, so just trying to mix this vintage feel with something more contemporary
06:16as well.
06:17Right.
06:18And that's the challenge.
06:19I'm not surprised by this dress.
06:20Okay.
06:21It's still you, but it has a refinement that, frankly, I didn't see from you in the show.
06:26Well, that's good.
06:27No, you took me to another dimension of you.
06:29That's good.
06:30I wish I was further along.
06:32You know, I have to tell you, I'm really pleased with where you are.
06:35I'm freaking out, really.
06:37Okay.
06:38I mean, I wish...
06:39You've got a lot of work to do, but you know what you're doing.
06:41Right.
06:42Right.
06:43You know, I've just recently quit my job designing for my friend's label.
06:48As far as, you know, my finances are concerned, I'm broke.
06:52It's scary.
06:57I wanted to bring Tim to Venice Beach because it's a place where I spent a lot of time.
07:02So you were here for two and a half years?
07:04Yeah.
07:05And your work, did you stay in the same place?
07:07Um, no, I moved around quite a bit.
07:10Okay.
07:11It was difficult to move here from Missouri all by myself.
07:16I grew up in St. Charles, relatively small town.
07:19My mother was a school teacher and my father was a disabled veteran.
07:23I grew up with a lot of adversity, a lot of people that didn't understand me.
07:27All my life I knew I wanted to be a fashion designer.
07:30I sacrificed quite a lot.
07:32You withstood a tremendous amount because you have to do this.
07:36Right.
07:37A few years back, I had designed a line which fell apart and basically left me pretty much homeless.
07:46So you had this really hard time.
07:48Yeah.
07:49I definitely just, I was embarrassed about my situation, you know, and really in this life, you know, you need help.
07:59I come across as arrogant, but I feel major insecurity.
08:05If you think you have something to say about the way I look or what I do or what I say or what my voice sounds like or any of that, like, you can't imagine that I've thought it and I've thought it, you know, ten times, you know, more in depth than you have, you know.
08:24My friend Tony and his wife, they were worried about me and they asked me if I'd like to stay with them and, you know, be able to save up money.
08:36That's wonderful.
08:37To be able to like, you know.
08:39So they understood and they wanted to help.
08:40Yeah, yeah.
08:41That's a tribute to you and your character.
08:43And I have to say it's also a tribute to your good friends.
08:46Yeah.
08:47Wow, look at that sunset.
08:49Another thing I wanted to do was bring Tim to my friend Tony's house.
08:53Hey.
08:54How are you doing?
08:55Hey.
08:56How are you doing, dog?
08:57I'm good, man.
08:58Tony's my best friend.
08:59He knows me the best.
09:00He's an accomplished model and accomplished photographer.
09:06Tony's an awesome individual.
09:11These guys are my family.
09:14So you guys, I wanted to share with you some news.
09:20I made it to the final three designers on Project Runway.
09:24I'll be doing my own.
09:25Dude, what the ****, man?
09:27Sorry about that.
09:30It's brilliant, isn't it?
09:32Yeah, it's incredible.
09:33I can't believe it.
09:34I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for your guys' hospitality, you know?
09:41And your friendships.
09:42Whatever.
09:43Really.
09:44I love you guys.
09:46You guys, you helped me out when I needed a divorce.
09:51Yeah.
09:52So, I don't know if I could ever repay him.
09:56I'm going to keep living my dream for myself and for my friends and the people around me.
10:02Olympus Fashion Week.
10:03No.
10:04No.
10:05No.
10:06Yes.
10:07No.
10:08Yes.
10:09I see people give up their dreams every day, and I'm not ever going to do that.
10:13I'll...
10:14Really, I'll die trying.
10:16No!
10:17Coming up on Project Runway.
10:19I don't want it to be safe.
10:20Neither do I.
10:21No.
10:22Hello!
10:23You have sketches of the rest of the pieces?
10:25I don't do sketches.
10:26What's in your head?
10:27I want to know.
10:37Next up, I'll visit Daniel Vosovic, who's been working on his collection in New York City.
10:43How are you?
10:44I'm fine.
10:45How are you?
10:46I'm fine.
10:47How are you?
10:48I'm just great, thanks.
10:49I'm glad you made it all the way up here.
10:51I did indeed.
10:52Hey, you look terrific.
10:53I think you got a little haircut.
10:54Yeah.
10:55Come on in.
10:56You look great.
10:57Thanks for letting me come.
10:58Yeah.
10:59Having as many weeks as I've had to prepare this collection that I've had time to sort through
11:04the doubts, push away all this and I'm left with just salad gold.
11:09Everything was spawned between this fusion of this military influence and Japanese culture.
11:16Oh, this is a beautiful detail.
11:19This is actually reoccurring throughout the collection in different ways and pants and everything.
11:25So this is this kind of flat colored jacket.
11:28This is more of what it's going to look like.
11:30That jacket?
11:31Yes.
11:32All right.
11:33I can see it now.
11:34You can see here.
11:35Oh, this is beautiful.
11:36I love it.
11:37And this back is wonderful.
11:38And the fact is like a woman could literally put a blazer on over this and wear it fine.
11:43I guess one of the things I want to say, the easy part is steps one through nine out of
11:48ten.
11:49Exactly.
11:50The hardest is what happens between nine and ten.
11:51That last.
11:52And buttons and those details, those decisions can make it or break it for you.
11:57Exactly.
11:58And that's where I'm at right now.
11:59The biggest challenge that I have right now is that a lot of those nitpicking details have
12:05to be decided.
12:06I mean, I think that there's really something very special, very unique about this.
12:11Do you?
12:12Yeah.
12:13And I have to say, I think there's an element of risk in this that I want you to have.
12:18I don't want it to be safe.
12:20Neither do I.
12:21No.
12:22Push the risk factor.
12:23Okay.
12:24Then that answers that.
12:25How do you feel about coming shopping with me?
12:27I'd like to pick up a new jacket.
12:28Oh, great.
12:29Let's go shopping.
12:30Let's go downtown.
12:31I'd love to see.
12:32I'll have the limo pick us up.
12:33If only.
12:34That'll be next year.
12:35Designers don't always look the best.
12:37We put so much into making other people look good.
12:41So I want to take Tim to go shopping to maybe get a new outfit for the finale show.
12:48I'd love to find a new fit.
12:50I need a slim blazer.
12:51Okay.
12:52I was thinking for the final look to do something.
12:55You don't want to call Nick?
12:57Sorry.
13:00I'm extremely excited about Fashion Week.
13:03It's been a long time coming.
13:05I grew up in Michigan.
13:06I'm in a very, very small town.
13:08And it's hard to be an individual.
13:11And I think every gay man can feel the pressure of being different.
13:16Me personally, to be a designer, you're labeled a fag.
13:21Fortunately, I have the best family.
13:23My mother and my father were very supportive and encouraging about me coming out.
13:28And I finally just said to myself, when you stop worrying about all the things that you
13:33can't control, you then can then focus on just who you are and what you love to do.
13:39And that's maybe a better designer.
13:41See, I like the fit of this.
13:43I really have to say, I think this look is very appropriate for the occasion.
13:48I'll get this.
13:49Okay.
13:50Special.
13:52At this point in my life, I love my life right now.
13:55And I just think this is the beginning.
13:57Bottom line, I think this is the beginning.
14:00And finally, I'll visit Chloe Dow as she works in her collection in Houston, Texas.
14:22Hello!
14:23I'm so thrilled to see you.
14:25I'm so excited to see you.
14:26Hello, I'm Tian Gan.
14:27This is my mom.
14:28Lovely to meet you too.
14:29Thank you for letting us come.
14:30Oh, I'm so excited to see Tim.
14:31Honestly, I'm so excited.
14:32I mean, he's such an amazing person.
14:34Can you take me on a little tour?
14:35Yes, definitely.
14:36Well, this is a little painting with my sister and I.
14:40There's all eight of us, eight girls.
14:42You have seven sisters?
14:43I have seven sisters, so there's eight girls.
14:46And that's why my store is called Lot 8.
14:48Are all of you living in the Houston area?
14:50All in Houston, Texas.
14:51That's great.
14:52Can you believe it?
14:53And we wanted to take this picture when we're all in our 30s.
14:55You're gorgeous, all of you.
14:5639 to 40 right there.
14:58So that's like last year.
15:00That's great.
15:01This is a baby picture of me, I guess, when I was in the refugee camp.
15:05I was born in Park, Laos.
15:07When the whole Vietnam War was starting, I guess my family knew before it actually started
15:12that we needed to just get out of there, get out of Laos.
15:14My mom actually hired some people to like take us through the night, through the village and
15:19to the beach or something.
15:20But we got caught by the Laos police.
15:22And then so we were in like family prison.
15:24We were actually in a family prison for a few years in Laos.
15:27We eventually got to the United States and we flew over and, you know, stay with my uncle
15:32and Dallas.
15:33We had it so very lucky.
15:35Imagine eight girls and mom and dad, we all got here all safe.
15:40That's wonderful.
15:41Yeah, it's amazing.
15:42We had a lot of cavities, but that was good.
15:44Well, should we go to the work room?
15:46Sure.
15:47Let's go.
15:48So, I want to hear what you've been doing.
15:50I want to hear about the whole concept of the collection.
15:53I don't know if I have a real concept yet, I'll be honest.
15:55I've been thinking about it, thinking about it, but I'm the kind of designer that doesn't
15:58like think of a theme.
16:00I kind of think about my customer, what they need this season.
16:03My collection, I'll be honest, it's like not completely done in my head yet, but it's
16:08the way I work.
16:09I'm still very confident that it's going to be one of the best work that I've ever done.
16:12This collection is definitely, I know, I thought about the visual aspect of it.
16:16And I think once I have the styling and everything together, I think it could be pretty strong.
16:19Well, for me, this is about the print.
16:22It is.
16:23All right.
16:24Yeah.
16:25Mm-hmm.
16:26And you have sketches of the rest of the pieces?
16:28I don't do sketches, I know.
16:30So, how is this developing?
16:31It's just organically, honestly.
16:33I'm just going through, feeling if I did this piece, what's next should I do?
16:36How about your fabrics?
16:37Um, they're right here.
16:39This is part of this, too.
16:40This is part of it?
16:41Mm-hmm.
16:42All right.
16:43What's in your head?
16:44I want to know.
16:45What's in my head?
16:46I don't know, honestly.
16:47It's just slowly, it has to develop piece by piece.
16:50He was concerned that I didn't have sketches for him to see the complete theme or idea of
16:54the collection, which I don't blame him.
16:56I would be concerned, too, in that position.
16:58I want to encourage you to just start working with these fabrics.
17:00No, no, I'm going to, yeah, actually, I'm going to drape.
17:02Okay.
17:03Then I'll see.
17:04Okay.
17:05All right.
17:06I am.
17:07All right.
17:08I am.
17:09Mm-hmm.
17:14Ready, guys?
17:15Okay.
17:16Okay.
17:17One, two, three.
17:19I have so much work to do, and I'm not kidding myself.
17:21I'm probably just going to, like, hide for the next seven weeks and not see anyone.
17:24Oh.
17:25Bye, guys.
17:26Take good care of Aunt Chloe.
17:27Bye.
17:28Bye-bye.
17:29Bye.
17:30I have a lot of work.
17:31I'm not kidding myself.
17:32I'm definitely worried.
17:33I'm going to work on it until the last minute.
17:34I'm going to work on it until the model walk off the dang runway.
17:39Coming up on Project Runway.
17:41You know, a little nervous about seeing Centeno.
17:43Screw you.
17:44You don't really know me.
17:45There's a lot of animosity from Chloe.
18:02Great.
18:03How was your trip?
18:04Uh, good.
18:05Not far.
18:06This came from uptown, so.
18:09Fashion Week has begun.
18:11And I have dedicated so much damn time to this collection.
18:15I started as soon as we got our money, and I'm still sewing.
18:19And I'm still not finished.
18:24Oh, my gosh.
18:25I have found it a little amusing how I used to sneak into Fashion Week a few years ago,
18:30and then now I'm actually showing in the tents, and hopefully people will be trying to sneak into my shed.
18:35Check this out.
18:36Check this out.
18:37Check it out.
18:41Oh, you didn't know I designed bags too, did you?
18:43Well, I do.
18:45Oh, I love it.
18:46Got to keep that secret hidden, because you know Centeno is going to be all over this one.
18:50I think I do have a very good chance of winning.
18:51I love it.
18:52The last time I saw Tim was when he came to my house.
19:05He was definitely nervous for me, and I don't believe I was nervous for myself.
19:09But it's done now, and I actually love my collection.
19:12But I think I'm so exhausted right now.
19:14I haven't slept for two days.
19:16Please take me to your head.
19:21There was a question of me being passionate about this.
19:23I am passionate.
19:24I do want to win.
19:25If I win, it's validation that I am a good designer.
19:33Anybody home?
19:34Where's that?
19:35Where's that?
19:36I'm a Asian girl.
19:37How are you?
19:38How are you?
19:39Oh, so good to see you.
19:40Is this all you got?
19:41No, no, no.
19:42This is so cool.
19:43No, this is nothing.
19:44There's like a whole other way.
19:45Are you kidding me?
19:46Yeah.
19:47Coming back to New York, I'm feeling a little nervous, you know?
20:02Mostly just because since the show started airing, Santino Rice is the man you love to hate.
20:10I'm curious to see Daniel and Chloe, because you never know how people are going to react.
20:17As far as Chloe's concerned, I mean, I've read some things that she said where she doesn't really care for me too much.
20:29I'm so tired.
20:30I'm so tired.
20:31I'm excited to just like get to talk to you before Santino comes, those comments sometimes.
20:37It's amazing.
20:38Just the littlest comment can still stick in you.
20:40Mm-hmm.
20:41You know, a little nervous about seeing Santino just because I don't think he and I got along that well.
20:46And just what he said about me not being a designer but a pattern maker.
20:50I'm pissed. I'm still pissed about it.
20:52Part of the times they screw you, you don't really know me, but then it still hurts, you know?
21:01Yeah.
21:02Yeah.
21:03Yeah.
21:04Yeah.
21:05I'm like...
21:06Um, sorry, wrong room.
21:08Um...
21:10Man.
21:12How fast did the time go?
21:13It felt like it took a long time and then...
21:15Until the show started and then...
21:16And then...
21:17Yeah.
21:18My first reaction was, don't watch the show.
21:21And...
21:22But I...
21:23You know, of course...
21:24It sucks you up.
21:25I've read every...
21:26It sucks you up.
21:27... blog.
21:28It's been...
21:29Hard.
21:30If there's a lesson I've definitely learned, it's that I definitely think twice before I say something
21:36about someone I don't know.
21:39Everything comes off as like really like I'm like a crazy egomaniac.
21:42I mean, you did say day one, this is the Santino show.
21:45We're like...
21:46You know?
21:47I always said that as like a friggin' joke.
21:49I know, but you said something to me.
21:50You actually say you're just a pattern maker.
21:52I'm not wowed by people who are basically like maybe brilliant pattern makers, but not necessarily
21:59brilliant designers.
22:01I said what I said in the moment, but it looked so mean and bad.
22:06I mean, that's great you're saying that now, but during the show I don't think you were coming off that way.
22:10Right.
22:11I know you've gotten the end of the deal.
22:12Well, granted, you made your bed lying there.
22:14Yeah.
22:15Bottom line.
22:19I think it's been quite a sobering experience for Santino, whether it's short-term or long-term,
22:30if this will affect him for the rest of his life, I guess we'll all have to wait and see.
22:35When all of us designers were taking out our collections from the garment bags and unpacking, I had Santino behind me and I kept thinking to myself, like, don't turn around.
22:48Like, I wonder if he's pulling, like, a dildo dress out of his bag.
23:05We're all trying to not look at each other's garments.
23:08One eyeball is going this way and one eyeball is going the other way.
23:11I feel like Chloe's collection just looked like a couch was coming at you.
23:18Good morning, everybody.
23:21Super sweet.
23:22How are you?
23:23I'm thrilled to see you.
23:24I can't believe this.
23:25Wow.
23:26Can I ask you all to gather round as you have not done for me for a while?
23:30Thank you, boo.
23:31So welcome to your new workroom, courtesy of Banana Republic.
23:34Are you ready for a really extraordinary week?
23:37I mean, you are going to Olympus Fashion Week.
23:41And not only to Fashion Week, but to the Bryan Park tents.
23:45There will be a thousand people there.
23:47Nice.
23:48Oh, insane.
23:49Insane.
23:50And on that note, I'm very anxious to see where your collections are right now.
23:55Are you feeling good?
23:56Yeah.
23:57Good.
23:58So can I see what you're doing?
23:59Sure.
24:00You want to start?
24:01Sure.
24:02Great.
24:03This is the dress I saw in Los Angeles.
24:07Right.
24:08Santino, it's a beauty.
24:09This is really simple, you know, but it's totally elegant.
24:13And the fullness of the skirt is really dramatic.
24:16It's a simple silhouette.
24:18Yeah.
24:19But it's not simple to make.
24:20Right.
24:21No, not at all.
24:22This is beautiful.
24:23Great.
24:24It's incredibly impressive.
24:26Thanks, Sam.
24:27And you should feel very proud.
24:29You really should.
24:31It's great work.
24:32Chloe.
24:33This is the first piece out.
24:35Wow.
24:36Look at that Balenciaga.
24:37You know, this is my...
24:39I did this two days ago, yesterday.
24:41You're kidding.
24:42No.
24:43But it's really cool.
24:44It wraps...
24:45It's voluminous.
24:46Yes, it is.
24:47And this goes underneath it.
24:48It's very simple.
24:49Just a little bit of the gold is going to show when it wraps up.
24:51Oh, no.
24:52It's so simple.
24:53When Tim visited me, I had pretty much nothing.
24:56But I just seriously didn't leave the garage for like two months.
25:00I just worked.
25:01I worked and I work and I think I, you know, I did a pretty good job.
25:04This is a fairly simple silhouette, but the way in which you're innovating with the construction
25:09is really brilliant.
25:11Good work.
25:13You like it?
25:14Good work.
25:15Yeah.
25:16Okay.
25:17Yeah, I do.
25:19Um...
25:20Collection.
25:21Great.
25:22It's Fashion Week.
25:23Did you know?
25:24Yes, I know.
25:25Okay.
25:26I love my collection.
25:27I think it's hot.
25:28I expect him to just be like, oh my gosh, this is like the best collection ever.
25:33I have like this double-breasted cashmere, which still doesn't have buttons yet.
25:39I work with hems.
25:41Okay.
25:42Very cute.
25:44Um, I have this fun little number.
25:46Uh, this is being worn under this piece, which is going to be with this.
25:55Okay.
25:57Okay.
25:58As I'm showing Tim my collection, I was thinking to myself, like, why, why isn't he saying more?
26:06Like, why isn't he piddling in his panties over excitement?
26:09These I had designed, looks a little crafty.
26:15Hmm.
26:16It looks a little like your dad did this in the garage.
26:19Hmm.
26:20Really?
26:21It looks like woodshop.
26:22Okay.
26:23It bothers me.
26:24Hmm.
26:25Because I like that.
26:26If that's what you wanted, then you got it.
26:27Good.
26:28All right.
26:29Okay?
26:30I have to say, in all my time with the challenges and all the time that we've spent together,
26:34this is probably the least that you've ever said anything.
26:37So, I'm, I'm, I'm waiting.
26:45Okay.
26:46I'm going to see how they look on the girls.
26:47That's fine.
26:48All right.
26:49And I'm actually quite confident in the clothes.
26:50I love the clothing, so.
26:51All right.
26:52All right.
26:53We're good.
26:54I was surprised how little Tim said about my collection, and I was slightly offended.
27:06Coming up on Project Runway.
27:08If Daniel doesn't recognize, you know, anything's wrong with his collection, I'm kind of worried
27:13for him.
27:14We have one final surprise.
27:16No.
27:17Come on.
27:18No.
27:19So, we're heading out to go see Michael Kors and to do our model casting.
27:30When I showed Tim my collection, I thought he was going to have a lot more to say.
27:34I think he needs to see it on an actual human being.
27:37So, finding the best models is important.
27:39Hi.
27:40Hey, guys.
27:41Hey, Michael.
27:42Hey, Michael.
27:43All right.
27:44How are you?
27:45Come on back, guys.
27:46All right.
27:47So, it's time for model selection.
27:50Putting the right girl in the right dress with the right hair, the right fit.
27:57Don't settle.
27:58Get it perfect.
27:59It's like I always tell everyone, I've got 12 minutes to last me six months.
28:05Now, for you guys, this is like, you know, this is a nanosecond to last for your life.
28:11Don't settle.
28:12No matter what you do, don't settle.
28:13Perfect.
28:14All right, guys.
28:15Well, I'm excited.
28:16I can't wait to see the show.
28:17Come on.
28:18Let's get going.
28:19Let's go shopping.
28:20For girls.
28:21Girl shopping.
28:22Girl shopping.
28:23Girl shopping.
28:24Can we see you walk?
28:25Can we see you walk?
28:26Can we see you walk?
28:27Can we see you walk?
28:28Wow.
28:29I need girls to check.
28:32My line's really about being sexy and strong.
28:35I want a little bit sexier, a little bit curvier.
28:38I love the lips.
28:41The girl I was looking for was very fresh-faced.
28:44Just someone who gave off a level of sexiness, but not a vulgarity.
28:49I'm looking for my models to have high energy, to exude confidence.
28:57Just get the face.
28:58I think we have a win.
29:02This morning, we're going to go to the workroom and possibly have some fittings.
29:21You never know with the fittings.
29:23Things can change drastically, depending on the girls.
29:31You're welcome.
29:32Ooh, we got mirrors.
29:38Where's the hotties?
29:40Oh my God!
29:41Ladies!
29:45Oh, I'm so excited.
29:46I'm good.
29:47I'm not so excited.
29:50Is it all coming together?
29:51Yeah, it's definitely all coming together.
29:52It's, um, Tim just came in and was like, hmm, yeah, hmm, hmm.
29:57And I was like, what?
29:58So I love it.
29:59I love it.
30:00Okay.
30:02Grace, I'm so freaking happy with it.
30:05Do you like it?
30:06I love it.
30:07Daniel, how's it progressing?
30:09When I first showed Tim my collection, I was actually quite surprised because he wasn't
30:13very vocal about it.
30:15I think when he sees it all pulled together on a body, I think he'll really, um, be blown
30:19away.
30:25Wow, Tim.
30:26See, this is what I keep getting, and it freaks me out a little.
30:28No, I'm very...
30:29It's so...
30:30What?
30:31I'm just, I'm very thoughtful about it, and I'm just trying to, trying to take it all in.
30:35No, I mean, I guess I always appreciate what you say.
30:39Um...
30:41What do you think?
30:42I love it.
30:43I think it's amazing.
30:44Again, he kind of held back, and it's a little nerve-wracking because usually you'd love
30:48people to fawn over your stuff.
30:50Would you mind if I asked you if Rebecca could put on something else, too?
30:54If so be it?
30:55Okay.
30:56I think Daniel was a little upset the way Tim didn't respond to his collection very well.
31:01Daniel, details are really what hold it together, and you have a lot of issues.
31:05Do you see how uneven it is at the bottom?
31:08Just get to, get down here, what you see?
31:11Everyone on the runway's gonna see that.
31:13And your, um, lining is showing.
31:16Right there.
31:17Yeah.
31:21If Daniel doesn't recognize anything's wrong with his collection, then I'm kind of worried
31:26for him.
31:27Okay, everybody.
31:28Chloe.
31:29Santino.
31:30You have until midnight tonight.
31:32We say you need to make it work.
31:34Thanks.
31:35Okay.
31:36I'll be back.
31:37Okay.
31:38Tim hates me.
31:40Daniel!
31:46So we went to see Nathaniel at Tresemme.
31:49Hello.
31:50Hello.
31:51Nathaniel's great, and I was able to explain to him briefly what I was looking for.
31:56A lot of bounce, nothing, nothing too stiff.
31:58The fabric is actually really strong and structured, so I want the hair really soft.
32:02Okay.
32:03My collection, I had a pretty specific idea of how my hair should be.
32:06Poof it a little more.
32:09A young sophistication.
32:10Right.
32:11In regards to the hair, I wanted to keep it very, very young.
32:14Oh, yeah.
32:15I love it.
32:16I love it.
32:17Excuse me, I'm coughing.
32:18Yeah, I cough right in my face.
32:19Oh, someone finished all my stuff.
32:20That's so nice.
32:21Awesome.
32:22I definitely can admit that I'm slightly nervous about finishing everything on my to-do list.
32:33Things like pant lengths, hems on sleeves.
32:35A lot of my stuff is still raw edged.
32:38You add all those little things up, it can seem a little daunting.
32:42It's just those damn details.
32:44We all have work to do.
32:48Daniel has a lot of finishing, a lot of hems, and a lot of sewing linings in, and buttonholes,
32:53and that stuff takes time.
32:54Hi, I'm Chloe.
32:55I'm your designer.
32:56Nice to meet you.
32:57Yeah, yeah.
32:58In the beginning, I was pretty lucky because all the other designer models didn't show up,
33:11and I fitted five of them.
33:12Hi, Megan.
33:13Hi.
33:14Hi, Jordan.
33:15But I think I had the most alteration because my style has a lot of seams into it.
33:19I'm going to pin this down.
33:20If I have enough time, I'm going to open this up.
33:22I was happy for Chloe that she was getting a lot done, but I hope that all of my models
33:29show up, too, and get this show on the road.
33:33How are you?
33:34Daniel.
33:35Dude.
33:36Thank you again.
33:41I don't really know what to say about the fact that models aren't showing up, but I'm
33:47going to be cool until tomorrow, and then I'm going to start cracking skulls.
33:50We're 48 hours from the runway show.
34:02I still have a lot of work to do.
34:04I'll probably be sewing until the models go out on the runway, but that's just the way it goes.
34:09I can sleep when I'm dead.
34:10I had alterations to do, not just tweaking, but alterations, you know.
34:15Seriously, I'm designed out.
34:17I cannot design another piece.
34:18Two days, I have to have stuff ready, and it wasn't until this morning, and I pray that
34:23it doesn't get worse.
34:25There's that, there's like that little knot in my stomach, and it just started today.
34:40Man, it's warm in here.
34:42Good morning.
34:43Hi.
34:44Hi.
34:45Hi.
34:46Hi, everybody.
34:47Hello.
34:48Welcome back to New York.
34:49Very nice to see you guys again.
34:51Come a little closer so I can see all your lovely faces.
34:55Tim and Heidi come in.
34:56They were going to rain on our parade.
34:57You could just tell.
34:58Well, Tim and I, we have something very important to tell you guys.
35:12When we first began, thousands of talented designers from around the country auditioned
35:17to be part of Project Runway.
35:1916 were chosen, the three of you emerged from a very select group owing to your creativity,
35:26your technical skill, and your ability to improvise.
35:29You are going to need to draw upon all of those abilities because we have one final surprise.
35:36Oh, come on.
35:38The surprise is you have one more final look that you have to create, and that look will
35:48have to be shown on your final runway show.
35:55It was a ball of emotions, to say the least.
35:58And at that point, I really just wanted to punch someone.
36:01Why couldn't you have come by yesterday?
36:03If I had a cardiac arrest or I had a brain aneurysm right now, I wouldn't be surprised.
36:09This is impossible for us to do another piece.
36:14Impossible.
36:15There's no way.
36:18Oh.
36:19Thank God.
36:20Chloe was distraught.
36:22She was pretty upset about it.
36:24She was ready to throw in the towel.
36:26There's more.
36:28Ugh!
36:29Okay.
36:30In order to help you complete this look, we're giving you an extra set of hands.
36:35Okay.
36:37We're good.
36:40Ew!
36:41Ew!
36:43Whoa.
36:44What?
36:45Wow!
36:46Oh, my gosh!
36:47All emo.
36:48You're off so much stellt.
36:49Oh, God!
36:50Wow!
36:51Hi!
36:52Alright.
36:53Hello.
36:54All emo.
36:55Oh, my God!
36:57Nice!
36:58Alright.
36:59Designers, we've just informed the final three
37:02that they must each create an additional look
37:05for their collection.
37:07Now, each of them will choose one of you
37:12to help them execute the final look.
37:20Yes, and what I'm going to do
37:22is I'm going to randomly pick your name out of this bag.
37:25You love this game.
37:26And then you can choose who you would like to work with.
37:30The first one to choose is Daniel.
37:41Um, Nick.
37:50I don't know if it's a good or a bad thing.
37:51I don't know if it's a good or a bad thing.
37:55The next one to choose is...
37:57Santino.
37:59Oh, my God.
38:03Um...
38:04Andre.
38:08Come here.
38:09Andre.
38:11Help me out.
38:12Will you help me out?
38:13Ugh, mad man.
38:15I'm sorry.
38:19Chloe, that means leaves you out.
38:21Who are you going to pick?
38:29Miss Diana.
38:31Oh!
38:36You won the pageant.
38:37Then you didn't know you were going to win.
38:38I'm going to wish you good luck.
38:43Tim will fill you in on the rest of the details.
38:46And I see you on the runway.
38:49Designers, follow me.
38:50Let's go.
38:53Bye.
38:54Bye.
38:56All right, designers.
38:58Final three.
39:00You have chosen wonderful and very capable assistants.
39:03So you have 30 minutes to caucus among you and to make some very deft and strategic decisions
39:11about what this 13th look will be like.
39:14You have $250.
39:17And we will go shopping after that 30 minutes.
39:20Oh, my God.
39:20Do I have to go shopping?
39:21All right.
39:23Go to your corners.
39:25Start to work.
39:26And I'll be back with you in 30 minutes, okay?
39:30And we'll go out.
39:31All right, carry on.
39:33Yeah, we totally don't have time to, like, play catch-up.
39:36No, no, no, no, no.
39:37It was a lot of different emotions kind of rolled into one big ball.
39:42I don't have all those patterns, but...
39:47But you still see the shape of a female.
39:51I mean, I'm always female conscious.
39:53I've been saying since day one, I cannot design another piece if my life depended on it.
39:57And ironically, my life depends on it.
40:03I have pieces of this.
40:10I have a lot more of this.
40:13Okay.
40:14We had two days before the runway show, and Heidi drops the bomb that there would have to be a 13th outfit shown on the runway.
40:22Because I have a lot of separates, I'm actually okay with showing a dress.
40:26I had wanted to bring in a certain element of fun, of whimsy.
40:32I was looking for that piece that kind of sandwiched right in between.
40:35Sleeveless?
40:36Sleeveless.
40:37Exactly.
40:37Daniel and I are trying to realize time-wise what garment can we do that will sort of seamlessly work itself into the collection.
40:45This is definitely where I want to go.
40:47We've got to do something that is not going to take us forever.
40:49Do you have any more of the gold fabric?
40:51Is the gold, is this the only gold one?
40:53I can make another gold.
40:54I really didn't want to do it because I felt like all my creative juice was gone.
40:57But based on that challenge, and I said I need a baby doll dress because I need another young, happy, easy, flirty dress.
41:04On the waist, I want really high up and really full, yeah.
41:08Okay, so is it going to be poofed out?
41:10Poofed out, exactly.
41:10Okay.
41:11I think I'm truly Chloe's assistant, and I'm just helping out anywhere that I can.
41:15Thank you for thanking because my mind is like...
41:18Is there anything missing that you wish you had time to do?
41:20One thing we could do is, um, I really, at that point, I was spent,
41:27and I was tired.
41:28I wasn't really solid about what I was going to make.
41:31If this is some sort of top and skirt, you could do a real simple bias cut dress.
41:36Santino is a totally different type of artist,
41:39so it's always a matter of trial and error a little bit.
41:41Everybody, can I have your attention?
41:43We're going to go shopping.
41:45I know how you work.
41:46You have to see it.
41:48And then the ideas start coming.
41:50I went out shopping not knowing what I was going to design.
41:53Let's go, follow me.
41:55Sorry.
41:55So, designers, here we are at Mood, and you have $250.
42:03We have a total of an hour to shop, so let's go, go, go.
42:08I have three silk sharmies.
42:10Yes.
42:10Yes.
42:11Winter white.
42:11It's like a winter white, yeah.
42:13I said let's go for the lighter one.
42:14Winter white double-faced cashmere here.
42:16We'll bring an extra detail to it.
42:18I like that one.
42:19I like that one.
42:20You're buying more gold.
42:21No, no, no, no, no.
42:22I look at that, and I think, wow.
42:23No, no, no, don't worry.
42:24I'm not worried.
42:24You're not worried?
42:25Okay.
42:25Because the design is actually very useful, and it works with the thing.
42:28Backing away.
42:29All right.
42:30Let's just go through the whole store.
42:33This is an opportunity to really do something that brings more of it together.
42:40Any of the, like, pleated netting or twos?
42:43Could we, could we make a coat?
42:52I can't take this anymore.
42:53I can't take it anymore.
42:55At this point, I don't really care.
42:57I have a lot of great pieces.
42:58I tried really hard to make some really amazing garments, so it's kind of like, you know,
43:04trying to disguise a piece of amongst a bunch of diamonds.
43:08Go for it.
43:09Right.
43:10Don't overthink this.
43:11Right.
43:11You look like you're overthinking it.
43:13Don't.
43:13No, yeah.
43:14Whatever.
43:14Even if you put pasties on a frigging maxi pad on the 13th model and send her down the
43:20runway, it's like, who gives a at this point?
43:22Help me out here, because I'm just, I'm over it.
43:25I'm really spent.
43:26I'm just spent.
43:26Take some of it.
43:27Yeah, look into my eyes.
43:28There's nothing going on inside of my brain.
43:31It's a dress, right?
43:33Yeah.
43:33It's like one of those scenes in a movie when you just, like, look up into the sky and
43:38you just go.
43:47Next on Project Runway.
43:50Santino, I still have four girls that are unaccounted for.
43:53Miss Diana, she's killing me.
43:55I'm freaking out, Andre.
43:58Let's go, guys.
44:00I'm so excited.
44:03I just realized I'm missing a garment bag.
44:05No, who did your makeup?
44:07And that's not the hair I want either.
44:09Andre, he's not even here.
44:12I kept thinking to myself, he hasn't seen these things on a person.
44:16Really?
44:17All I want to do is rip that patch right off of her chest.
44:20I do have to say, I have problems with your tops.
