00:01Previously on Project Runway...
00:03The winner of this challenge will have their look featured
00:06in the Marie Claire billboard campaign
00:08in New York's Times Square.
00:10Yield!
00:13Dre holds like this form.
00:15Does she become Little Red Riding Hood?
00:17It's an infinity dress, like eight.
00:19I'm concerned about you, I'm gonna tell you right now.
00:21You will each have a photo shoot
00:23with a Marie Claire photographer.
00:25Do like a jump?
00:27Great, good.
00:30It's very clear that the hole is not supposed to be there.
00:34It might have been nice if the blouse
00:36did not look like the back was eaten.
00:39Gretchen, you're once again the winner of this challenge.
00:43I thought Valerie should have won.
00:45Jason, you're out.
00:48Nicholas, you're out too.
00:53I have to go home.
00:57This is Project Runway.
00:59Yes!
01:00Let's go!
01:01The search for the next big fashion designer.
01:04I was born ready.
01:05You know you love this.
01:07You're either in or you're out.
01:09It's about fashion.
01:10Who will be the next great fashion designer?
01:12I'm the best there is.
01:14Seventeen designers.
01:15This is my chance.
01:16Three finalists.
01:17But only one can be the winner.
01:18It's fashion week or go home.
01:20I've come way too far to lose.
01:21For these seventeen designers,
01:22Project Runway is the chance of a lifetime.
01:24The winner of Project Runway will receive $100,000 from L'Oreal Paris to start their own line.
01:34A fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine.
01:36$50,000 technology suite from HP and Intel to create their vision and run their business.
01:41And the opportunity to design and sell an exclusive collection on Piperlime.com.
01:45The model paired with the winner of Project Runway will receive a fashion spread in Marie
01:50Claire magazine and $25,000 from L'Oreal Paris Studio Secrets Professional.
02:07Gretchen, congratulations on your second win.
02:10Thank you!
02:11That's a huge win.
02:13The group is very caring and loving.
02:15I hate that bitch Gretchen.
02:16I can't believe she won again.
02:18I have won two challenges but it seemed like everyone really understood why I won before they even knew I was going to win and were really rooting for me.
02:28Gretchen winning is annoying to me.
02:30I don't even care that she won twice in a row.
02:33It's how her attitude changed.
02:35There was a different personality between win one and win two.
02:38It doesn't bug me that Gretchen keeps winning because she's my friend.
02:41And I do believe that she deserves to win when she does win.
02:43However, comma, it's a little bit of a bummer.
02:46Always a bridesmaid, never bride.
02:47I don't know what's going on because I honestly thought that the past two challenges I have put my best forward.
02:54And, you know, I thought that the judges would see that.
02:57Get out of here.
02:58All right, I'm ready. Let's go, guys.
02:59Ladies first.
03:00Ciao.
03:01Hello.
03:02Hi.
03:03All right, are you ready for your next challenge?
03:04Yes.
03:05Since you guys have made it through the first two challenges, we thought that this would be a cause for a celebration.
03:21Tim is going to throw a little party for you and he will fill you in on all the details for your next challenge.
03:26Good luck.
03:27And I'll see you on the runway.
03:28Bye, everybody.
03:29Bye, everybody.
03:30Good morning, designers, and welcome to Party Glitters.
03:45I wish we were here to celebrate the fact that you've all made it through two challenges.
03:51But, in fact, we're here to select the materials for your next challenge.
03:55Yay.
03:56I love the unconventional challenges because they give you an opportunity to work with materials you wouldn't work with otherwise.
04:02And they really push the boundaries of your abilities to innovate.
04:05And I want you to know that our judges do not respond well to the materials that correspond to fabric.
04:11Table cloths, wrapping paper, things of that sort.
04:13All right?
04:14So you have $100 and 30 minutes to shop and let's have a party.
04:19All right?
04:20Come on in.
04:21Have fun.
04:22Roll up.
04:31This is your challenge.
04:32I, that's, I'm actually really, this is really familiar to me.
04:35Yeah.
04:36This challenge is definitely right up my alley.
04:37This is kind of more my element.
04:39I feel comfortable.
04:40I like really fun kind of stuff that has to do with, like, toys.
04:43I got cupcakes and elephants.
04:44I got all kinds of stuff in here.
04:46Do you guys have plastic tiaras?
04:47Can anybody help me?
04:48Does anybody, is there any worker that can help me?
04:51A party store is like cheese ball city.
04:55And nothing about my design aesthetic is cheese ball.
05:00It's frying pan.
05:01Okay.
05:02Oh my God.
05:03It's like a quinceanera up in here.
05:04Designers, that's it.
05:05Let's head back to the work room, okay?
05:07Woo!
05:08Designers, I have a nice surprise.
05:17This is the first challenge for which the winner will have immunity.
05:22Woo!
05:23Beautiful.
05:24So thank you everyone.
05:25I will see you later today.
05:26Bye.
05:27I look over and Casanova, I think he's kind of on the rampage right now.
05:40I love the plush puppies.
05:41Oh, Casanova.
05:42I love you, but Casanova...
05:43Coming up on Project Gormley.
05:57We are not making a pinata, we are making a dress.
05:59He's definitely feeling pressure.
06:01Prepare before you start working.
06:03Gretchen always needs to give her opinion.
06:05It takes the class out of what you're doing.
06:07I'm a force to be reckoned with.
06:16You have to prepare everything before you start working.
06:19We went to a party store and had to create a look from Twizzlers and streamers and cups,
06:25stuff like that.
06:26I never thought that I would be baking an outfit out of a serving dish or a cup or paper plates,
06:31but it opens you up to using just soul creativity and I think that it's really going to make
06:37it or break it for some people.
06:39Welcome to Party Glitter.
06:40How can I help you?
06:41I love this.
06:42I'm using black and white napkins and I'm folding them into like triangles and then hanging
06:47them and then I got streamers and I'm cleaning them and bringing, making like a v-neck halter
06:52backless dress with like the chiffon square napkins so it's really like fluffy and flowy.
06:57Valerie's looks like a million dollars.
06:59I think she's definitely going to be on the top with me.
07:02Valerie is the clearest competition, but I'm a force to be reckoned with.
07:07Is this maybe like a slight Marie Antoinette type thing?
07:11Well, and I think because of the colors that you're doing it.
07:15Gretchen always thinks that she needs to give her opinion if people ask or don't ask.
07:20I like Tim's opinion because he's been there, done that, but when you're trying to adjust
07:23to be Gretchen, I think it's kind of sad.
07:25I feel like it takes the class out of what you're doing.
07:28I'm here to check in with you and I'm glad to see that everyone's still standing.
07:38Hi Valerie.
07:39How are ya?
07:40I'm good, how are you?
07:41I'm working with napkins.
07:42Is this all napkins?
07:43Yeah, it's all napkins.
07:44And then to give it a little bit of color, I'm going to braid some of the teal and make
07:50a small belt that goes across just to give it some color.
07:54I'm not understanding the introduction of the teal.
07:56I just don't want it to be all black and white.
07:58But it is.
07:59Do you think it just seems like an afterthought?
08:01Yeah.
08:02Okay.
08:03You sold me Tim.
08:05Andy, you look apprehensive.
08:08I am only because I don't have enough of this ribbon that I just braided.
08:13I wanted to use it as the majority of my dress actually.
08:16Do you have enough to make a full skirt?
08:18I initially kind of had Andy pegged as maybe some of my competition, but I still feel like
08:24his work looks like student work.
08:26I'm experimenting, which I don't know is a good thing.
08:29We're halfway through the day.
08:30I know.
08:31I'm an idiot for deciding when to braid all this ribbon together when I only have a day
08:35to finish this.
08:36I hadn't even started on the muslin yet right now.
08:39You've got to do that now.
08:40I've got to do the muslin now.
08:41Because then this work you're doing, you can fix the pieces and really move forward
08:44because right now you're still experimenting.
08:46Yeah.
08:47And given the time frame, you need to make some commitments here.
08:49Coming up on Project Runway.
08:50This is atrocious.
08:51This is not cute.
08:52It's like you have a piece of coal up your rear end.
08:53What am I going to do?
08:54Did you not listen to me?
08:55I don't get the point.
08:56I wanted it to be subtle, no?
08:57Really?
08:58This is our party store challenge.
08:59You want subtlety and nuance?
09:00I was so afraid of...
09:01You're really uptight.
09:02It's like you have a piece of coal up your rear end.
09:03I mean, honestly, make it into a diamond and pull it out.
09:05Okay, don't you have any questions?
09:06What am I going to do?
09:07I don't understand what am I going to do?
09:08Did you not listen to me?
09:09I don't get the point.
09:10What am I going to do?
09:11Did you not listen to me?
09:12I don't get the point.
09:13I don't get the point.
09:14I wanted it to be subtle.
09:15No?
09:16Really?
09:17This is our party store challenge.
09:18Okay, well I just...
09:19You want subtlety and nuance.
09:20I was so afraid of...
09:26I really wanted one color, and I wanted...
09:28I'm totally supportive of something that's monochromatic.
09:30Yeah, and...
09:31Especially when it's this color.
09:32I'm waiting to hear him go, Michael, this is atrocious.
09:35Michael, this is not cute.
09:36Because I got them the last two challenges.
09:38I mean, I think it's sensational.
09:40I think it has a definite wow factor.
09:43I'm very proud of you.
09:45Go, go, go.
09:46Gretchen, congratulations on your second win.
09:49Yeah.
09:50Fantastic.
09:50I'm really proud of myself.
09:52You should be.
09:52So, this is a mini pencil skirt,
09:56and I took two different colors of garland,
10:00and I hand-cut chevron prints.
10:03Good heavens.
10:04What's going on top?
10:05I grabbed all of these paper bags,
10:06and I crumpled them up,
10:08and I was thinking of doing basically like a faux leather jacket.
10:12Gretchen, do it.
10:13It's going to be fabulous.
10:14Okay, thank you.
10:16Bye.
10:18Casimo go.
10:19A few of the designers told me that
10:22I cannot use tablecloths as a fabric,
10:26and it's the only thing that I did, so.
10:29Did you not listen to me when we were at the party store?
10:31I was listening to you.
10:33I don't get that point.
10:35I didn't say you could not use them.
10:38I said the judges don't like it,
10:41because it's too much like buying a big yardage of fabric.
10:45So, is that all you bought, tablecloths?
10:46Well, you have a make-it-work moment.
10:50Designers, your models are going to be coming in later,
10:52and when they arrive,
10:54they have a little surprise for each of you.
10:57Oh, no.
10:58I'll see you tomorrow.
11:05Oh, no.
11:06Oh, what does this pray to?
11:09Designers, your added challenge
11:11is to create a fashionable accessory
11:12to accompany your design
11:14using the materials in these gift bags only.
11:19Oh, this is fabulous.
11:21They brought polka dots and sequins
11:23and colorful, colorful stuff,
11:25and my dress is black.
11:27What am I going to do?
11:30Coming up on Project Runway.
11:32I have no time left.
11:33I don't know if it's going to look good.
11:34Andy's had a lot of help,
11:36and I feel like that's a time management issue.
11:49Does that hurt?
11:50Like, is it really sharp?
11:52When the models come in,
11:53everyone has stuff to try on,
11:55and I'm kind of shaking in my boots
11:58because the only thing I have for her to try on
12:00is my muslin base.
12:02Let's forget it.
12:03Let's go outside and look for the other shoe.
12:04My biggest concern, though,
12:05is the skirt is really heavy
12:07because it's got, like, 600 napkins on it.
12:09I'm nervous about the top, like, ripping from the skirt.
12:15My fitting is going okay.
12:17I see it on the model, and it looks all right,
12:18but I think at this point,
12:19I'm just concerned about getting it finished.
12:21It's possible.
12:22I don't really like it.
12:24Guys, let's go.
12:25Let's get out of here.
12:25So what if you win this one, too?
12:45I think everybody's going to hate me.
12:47I think it's going to affect the dynamic.
12:49It's not going to happen three times in a row.
12:50No, it just can't.
12:51Yeah, I think she knows everything.
12:52And critiquing other people.
12:54Well, she's not winning today.
12:56I can't worry about it too much,
12:58but I do think I'm going to be in the top three.
13:01Gretchen's won two,
13:03but I feel like this challenge is totally about, like,
13:05being creative and doing something
13:06that's, like, cool and different.
13:08I don't think this challenge is about being completely wearable.
13:12If something really conservative wins this time,
13:14then I just don't really see the point of me being here
13:17because I'm not going to win.
13:18If I'm in the top again with Gretchen,
13:21I swear, I'm going to be, like, a Susan Lucci
13:23of Project Runway.
13:26Let's go.
13:27Don't be bossing me around.
13:29All right, it's time to win.
13:32See how they're going to hurt us today.
13:34Yeah.
13:35Blue gun goddess.
13:36They say two hours.
13:48We have two hours.
13:53Does that feel tight?
13:55Does that feel better?
13:56But you can make it tighter if you want.
13:59I feel like the accessory,
14:00that I could whip it up
14:01in a really short amount of time.
14:03Perfect.
14:04I think it's really strong.
14:05Yeah.
14:06Wow, what a fabulous-looking room this is.
14:13I have chills.
14:14I really do.
14:15All right, I have business, though, also.
14:18You have two hours to send your models
14:20to the Garnier Hair Salon
14:21and the L'Oreal Paris Makeup Room, all right?
14:23You know to use the Piper Lime accessory wall.
14:26All right, everybody?
14:28So let's have a fabulous runway day.
14:30Yay!
14:34I'm going to wear this,
14:35and it's too bulky,
14:36and it's too bulky,
14:36so I need short hair.
14:38And not too messy.
14:40Not too polished.
14:44I want something like this,
14:46but more professional.
14:48Will you close your eyes?
14:49Miss Akko?
14:50Got it?
14:51You got it.
14:54I'm in really great shape,
14:58but in my sight line is Andy,
15:00and he has genius going on this dress form,
15:03and there's no way he's ever going to do it.
15:06If you need help, I'm ready.
15:07Oh, my gosh, totally.
15:08And you're here to take these ribbons?
15:10Yeah.
15:10Andy, can I help you?
15:12Peach and April come by,
15:13because they're both done with their garments,
15:15and so I was so thankful
15:16that people in this competition
15:17have great hearts,
15:19and those two women, bless them.
15:21Andy had a lot of help,
15:23and it's hard for me
15:23because I feel like
15:24that's a time management issue.
15:26He always picks things
15:27that are too big to accomplish.
15:30Designers and models,
15:32it's time to go down to the runway,
15:34and I'm extremely excited
15:37for all of us.
15:38Let's go.
15:39Coming up on Project Runway...
15:48Where do I start?
15:49I think a few things went wrong.
15:51Oh, my goodness.
15:52It's couture.
15:53It's couture.
16:02Hello.
16:03Welcome to the runway.
16:05As you know, in fashion,
16:06one day you're in,
16:07and the next day,
16:08you're out.
16:10There are 14 of you here,
16:11and after tonight,
16:12there will be 13.
16:15All of your materials
16:16for this challenge
16:17came from a party store.
16:19It gives us the chance
16:20to see how well you can
16:22think outside of the box,
16:24and that you can show us
16:25that you can be innovative.
16:26Okay, let's meet the judges.
16:28First, we have CFDA
16:29Lifetime Achievement Award winner,
16:31Michael Kors.
16:32Hey, guys.
16:33Fashion director
16:34for Marie Claire Magazine,
16:35Nina Garcia.
16:36Hello, everyone.
16:37Bye.
16:37And we have a very special guest
16:39for you today.
16:46How are you?
16:48How are you?
16:49How are you?
16:49Mwah.
16:50Mwah.
16:55We're very excited
16:56to have iconic American fashion designer,
16:59Betsy Johnson.
17:00Hi, guys.
17:01Hi.
17:02Hi.
17:03I think it's amazing
17:04that Betsy Johnson is here,
17:06smiling at everybody.
17:07She totally rules.
17:09Love Betsy Johnson.
17:10We will score your designs
17:11as they come down the runway.
17:13One of you will be named the winner,
17:15and one of you will be out.
17:18Okay, let's start the show.
17:29The foundation of my dress
17:31is all napkins
17:32that I sewed together,
17:33and I think my fabric look
17:35is beautiful.
17:40I'm really going to try
17:41to wow the judges
17:42with the fact
17:43that I can make something
17:44look so real.
17:58So my overall design
17:59ends up looking like
17:59Alice in Wonderland.
18:00I like the way it looked.
18:05I thought it looked amazing.
18:06Cassie looks amazing
18:30in the dress.
18:31From where I'm sitting,
18:32it looks like a leather dress.
18:36It looks like leather
18:38and chain,
18:39and it was amazing.
18:40I wasn't expecting that at all.
18:57I love to use lots of color.
18:59Pink and yellow are my favorite.
19:01For me,
19:01I find color to be inspiring,
19:02and I'm definitely somebody
19:03who always wants to stand out.
19:04I think that I might be able
19:06to win this one.
19:09Yeah, I thought about this.
19:11I was like, no.
19:12Right.
19:16We almost got the booty.
19:17I think it's a really pretty
19:38ballerina slash garden party dress,
19:41and it's just absolutely beautiful.
19:42As long as you're true to yourself
19:46and you push yourself,
19:47you should be very proud
19:48of the item that you've put out.
19:50Right now,
19:59right now, I'm feeling so confident
20:02about my design.
20:04It's like a flamenco dancer
20:06meets Carolina Herrera meets
20:09Beyonce meets
20:10Michael Costello.
20:12They all get together
20:13and pop out my dress.
20:15My design looks
20:27really, really great.
20:29She's got her cute little handbag
20:31in her hand.
20:36It fits her like a doggone glove.
20:39I'm very excited.
20:40I think the coolest thing
21:05about watching my look
21:06come down the runway
21:07was that I really
21:09could see myself in it.
21:14I made something
21:15that's high fashion
21:16and something that
21:17is straight up ready to wear.
21:18I'm really inspired by color
21:38and texture,
21:40and I don't compromise
21:41for anybody.
21:42In the past two challenges,
21:52I've proven myself,
21:53so I'm feeling really confident
21:54about this one.
22:02When I saw my model
22:04working on the runway,
22:05I felt confident
22:07I did a good job.
22:08I have, like,
22:13a print on the front,
22:15a thousand of ruffles.
22:21The gown is
22:23absolutely dramatic.
22:24I was worried
22:39about my dress
22:39staying together.
22:40It's difficult
22:41to mold her body
22:43into a fabric
22:45that is kind of stiff.
22:48It was definitely
22:49nerve-wracking.
22:50I feel really confident.
22:57My aesthetic
22:58really deals
22:59with texture.
23:00That's why I went
23:01with black and silver
23:02and just staying true
23:03to who I am, I guess.
23:04I'm seeing my piece
23:22come down the runway.
23:23I'm just so happy
23:24that my little dress
23:25is on her.
23:26There's nothing popping out.
23:27She's sewn into it.
23:28It's not going anywhere,
23:29and it's a mild relief
23:31at this point.
23:34I think my dress
23:49looks really good.
23:50It looks like
23:51it took a lot of time.
23:52It looks like
23:52I worked really hard on it.
23:57And it looks really clean
23:59and well-made.
24:00So I'm really hoping
24:02that I do win.
24:04If I call your name,
24:12please step forward.
24:14Peach.
24:15Mike Costello,
24:16please step forward.
24:18Ivy.
24:19Kristen.
24:21Michael Trelland,
24:22please step forward.
24:25Mondo.
24:28Christopher.
24:30April.
24:32If I have called your name,
24:33congratulations,
24:36your scores have qualified you
24:37to move on
24:37to the next challenge.
24:39You can leave the runway.
24:48The remaining designers
24:49have the highest
24:50and the lowest scores.
24:53One of you
24:53will be named the winner,
24:55and one of you
24:57will be out.
24:57The remaining designers
25:06have the highest
25:07and the lowest scores.
25:08One of you
25:09will be named the winner,
25:10and one of you
25:11will be out.
25:13Valerie,
25:14tell us about your look
25:15and your material.
25:17This dress is entirely
25:18made out of napkins.
25:19I used about
25:20600 of them,
25:22and then I cut them
25:23all into quarters
25:24to make them
25:25really,
25:26you know,
25:27expand,
25:27and I kind of
25:28just kept it
25:29really simple on top.
25:30Her accessory
25:30is actually
25:31a cuff.
25:33To me,
25:33it kind of looked
25:33like Lucite,
25:35and I also really
25:36took into consideration
25:37your comments
25:38last time
25:39and really
25:40was very mindful
25:42of my styling.
25:43Well,
25:43I think you took
25:44a 360
25:44in the styling.
25:46I think she looks
25:48like a modern girl.
25:49She's a girl
25:50you want to know.
25:51I think that you
25:53kind of chucked it
25:54on the accessory.
25:55I had a hard time
25:56with that.
25:57You know,
25:57when a girl
25:58is going to look
25:59clean,
26:00the accessories,
26:02you really notice
26:02them,
26:03so it has to be
26:04really something
26:04special.
26:05I think the other
26:06thing also is
26:07it's beautifully cut.
26:08She looks great in it.
26:09I love it, too.
26:10Thank you, Betsy.
26:11It's absolutely
26:12beautiful to me,
26:13but what I really
26:15love most about it
26:17is in that dress,
26:19you go to a party,
26:20and you just hang
26:22around the people
26:23eating the dim sum
26:24and the messy
26:25hors d'oeuvres,
26:26and there you are,
26:27an instant face
26:29wipe napkin dress.
26:31I love things
26:31that do something
26:32like that.
26:33EJ.
26:34Okay.
26:35First of all,
26:35I want to say
26:36I had a lot of fun
26:36with this challenge.
26:37I love working
26:38with stuff like this.
26:39I was inspired
26:40by New York City
26:41club kids,
26:42and I wanted
26:43to do a birthday dress.
26:45I preferred to show
26:46off some of my
26:47party favors
26:47instead of trying
26:48to hide them
26:49because that's very me
26:50and that's my style.
26:51My necklace
26:52is my accessory,
26:53and I used
26:54cupcake foils.
26:56I was really happy
26:56with the end result.
26:58It just looks silly
26:59to me.
27:00I have to say
27:01the only thing
27:01that I like
27:02is the necklace.
27:04There's nothing
27:05wrong with camp,
27:07but this is just
27:08like you threw
27:08all the party favors
27:09at her at the same time.
27:11It looks like
27:12a hot mess.
27:12There's no shape
27:14or fit to it.
27:15It's not cut
27:16for anyone
27:17with a body.
27:17She actually has
27:18a 31A cup.
27:20I do want to tell you that.
27:20No, it's not that.
27:21It's not that.
27:22This doesn't go far
27:25enough to look
27:26unintentional,
27:27and it's not perfect
27:28enough to look
27:28intentional.
27:29And I have to say
27:30the other thing.
27:31When I look
27:32at the skirt part
27:33of this dress,
27:34the crotch
27:35with the fringe,
27:37I knew that was risky.
27:39I actually ran
27:40out of yardage
27:40at that point,
27:41so I had to make it work.
27:42I mean, I'm all for short,
27:44but I don't know
27:44about the fringe crotch
27:45being a focal point.
27:46At least you have
27:48the party spirit
27:48going on there,
27:49and wouldn't you think
27:50that I would just
27:51steal that
27:52to wear tonight?
27:53I kind of hoped
27:54you would have my back.
27:56Andy.
27:56The only material
27:57I used were
27:58spools of ribbon.
28:00They're all just
28:00plain ribbon
28:01that I folded
28:02and simulated
28:03this paper crane
28:04kind of effect
28:05to create
28:06a really interesting
28:07fabric and textile
28:08and shine.
28:09And my accessory,
28:12I love a good glove,
28:13so I was ecstatic
28:14to find balloons
28:16in my bag.
28:17Well, I think
28:18the dress is exciting.
28:21You really made
28:22the material,
28:23you know,
28:23turn into something else.
28:24There's a real transformation.
28:26I could see you
28:27and Rihanna
28:28fighting over that one.
28:30Well, I saw it first,
28:31so I'm going to get it first.
28:32to think that this
28:35is just a dress
28:37made of ribbon material
28:38from a party store.
28:40Well, I think
28:40that's remarkable.
28:41Casanova,
28:42tell us about your materials
28:43and your look.
28:44I consider myself
28:45very couturier,
28:46and for me,
28:48it's hard to find
28:50how to make a dress
28:52that look like a dress
28:54with plastic stuff.
28:56I make the skirt
28:57with their kind of posters
28:59of 70s body.
29:03Then I make the ruffle
29:05with another plastic
29:07for covering the tables.
29:09I bought two blush puppies
29:12and make this scarf.
29:14And to make the accessory,
29:16I just choose to make
29:18silver earrings.
29:20I mean, she looks like
29:21a transvestite flamenco dancer
29:23at her funeral.
29:24I mean, she just does.
29:26Because, you know,
29:27this, you were not
29:28trying for funny.
29:29You were trying
29:30for glamorous.
29:31The workmanship
29:32is there,
29:32but the taste level
29:33is just totally missing.
29:35Yeah.
29:36Just as a whole,
29:37there's so many things
29:38going on,
29:39and I think
29:40a few things went wrong.
29:42Sarah.
29:43Okay.
29:44What's happening here
29:45is gray plastic table liner
29:48is gray plastic table liner
29:48and this enormous cardboard palm tree,
29:52which I then spray painted
29:54with floral paint
29:55and cut up
29:55and turned into other pieces.
29:58I do think it looks
29:59like a cutout dress,
30:02almost like a paper cutout
30:04that you put on her.
30:05It seems very, um,
30:08simple.
30:09I have to say,
30:10I wrote sad.
30:11It doesn't look like
30:13a fully kind of composed idea.
30:17It just looks like
30:18you were kind of like,
30:19I'm going to make
30:20these damn palm trees work.
30:22And the simple truth is,
30:24you've got to sometimes
30:25admit to yourself
30:26when you're designing something,
30:27this isn't working.
30:29I definitely did,
30:30and then I rejected it,
30:31and that's why.
30:31So I totally agree
30:32with what you're saying.
30:33You've got to go
30:33with your gut.
30:34Right.
30:34You've got to go
30:35with your gut.
30:35And I don't think you did.
30:37Gretchen, these are garlands,
30:39which I hand cut
30:41into chevrons.
30:42And my leather jacket
30:44is made out of paper bags
30:47that I crumpled up.
30:49And my accessory
30:51is a cuff made out of ribbon.
30:53And the black is parts
30:55of the balloon
30:56that I snip to create
30:58this kind of, like,
30:58tribal element,
30:59but still downtown.
31:02I wrote fabulous.
31:03I loved it
31:04when I walked down the runway.
31:06I mean, I see
31:07the little details.
31:08Yes, perhaps the proportion
31:10of the skirt
31:10is a little too long
31:11for the boot.
31:14I think that you're very now.
31:17I just like the whole vibe
31:19is very cool.
31:20She's the girl
31:21that lives in today's world.
31:24The funny way I see
31:25is that we've got
31:26Tina Turner
31:27and Dreamgirls
31:28on the bottom,
31:29and we've got Mel Gibson
31:30and Mad Max on the top.
31:32Okay, so we've got
31:33we've heard what you had to say.
31:34We're going to have
31:34a little chat,
31:35and then I'm going to
31:36call you back.
31:37You can leave the runway.
31:47Hi, Mike.
31:48What's up?
31:49Hi.
31:49What's up?
31:51Oh, we don't know yet.
31:53Andy, what did they say
31:54about your...
31:55They really liked it.
31:56Well, I think Andy's piece
31:57was really lovely.
31:58We'll go out here
31:59what Andy said.
32:01All right.
32:02Yes.
32:02Listen, I want to hear
32:03from him.
32:04Betsy was on the fence
32:05because she just said
32:06it was too beautiful.
32:08Oh, right.
32:08She wanted...
32:09Which I actually feel like
32:10everything you want.
32:12But I also feel like
32:13you are...
32:14I think she felt like
32:14it was too serious.
32:15Can I talk for a minute?
32:16Sure.
32:16I feel like what you're...
32:18Talk all the time.
32:18What was really lovely about...
32:20You talk all the time.
32:21Stop.
32:22I'm just really frustrated.
32:24I've been at the...
32:24I'm not going to argue
32:25with you tonight.
32:27You're just being sensitive
32:28because you're on the bottom.
32:34All right.
32:34Let's start with Casanova.
32:36Oh, my goodness.
32:38You know, he's basically
32:39telling you
32:40that he's a grand couturier.
32:42Well, the reality is
32:43he has no taste.
32:45I mean, the ruffled leg...
32:46Mecapped.
32:47The ruffled legs
32:48were the weirdest to me.
32:49I did think, though,
32:51that he had a few good ideas.
32:52He had 100 dresses in one.
32:56Sarah, to me,
32:56didn't do anything.
32:58Nothing.
32:59Yeah, she did.
32:59She made us board.
33:00I mean, that was, like, nothing.
33:01I actually think
33:02she was so intent
33:03on the damn palm tree.
33:05You know, she sent out a snooze,
33:07but she knew it was a snooze.
33:09Casanova had no idea.
33:12It's couture.
33:12It's couture.
33:13It's a good thing
33:15to be humble and say,
33:16I didn't make this work.
33:18All right.
33:19Let's talk about AJ.
33:21I expected to be wowed
33:23by the pink party clothes
33:25that just, I felt,
33:27was made badly
33:28and just didn't work.
33:30To me, it looked like
33:30a kid's costume.
33:31It looked like a hat
33:33from a shower.
33:35Well, or a piñata exploded.
33:36I don't know.
33:38Let's talk about
33:39the designers that we did like.
33:40Betsy, what did you think
33:42about Valerie's dress?
33:43Beautiful construction,
33:44beautiful lines,
33:45beautiful proportions.
33:47I mean...
33:48It was flirty and fun.
33:49Her model looked really
33:51sexy, but not vulgar.
33:53It was a pretty dress.
33:55Styled well.
33:56Styled well.
33:56Yes.
33:57She really paid attention
33:58to our comments.
34:00It was lovely.
34:02Betsy, what did you think
34:03about Andy's overall look?
34:05Andy's so beautifully made,
34:09so great.
34:09He really gave it
34:11such dimension.
34:12I love the silver woven in.
34:14The dress was cut
34:15really, really well.
34:17Very cool.
34:18The whole look
34:18was very well put together.
34:22And we also like
34:23Gretchen's design.
34:25She's been a very good designer.
34:26I mean, like, Kate Moss
34:27would wear that look
34:28just that way.
34:29She made several pieces
34:34and then put them all together
34:36and the way she styled it,
34:38that's how Marie-Claire
34:39would style it.
34:42So we've made our decision?
34:45Yeah.
34:45Yeah, I think so.
34:46Okay, let's bring them back out.
34:48The six of you
34:58represent the best
34:59and the worst.
35:01One of you will be
35:02named the winner
35:02and one of you
35:04will be out.
35:14The six of you
35:15represent the best
35:16and the worst.
35:18One of you
35:19will be named the winner
35:20and one of you
35:21will be out.
35:26Valerie?
35:29You're in.
35:30You can leave the runway.
35:39Andy?
35:41Gretchen?
35:42One of you
35:43will be the winner
35:43of this challenge.
35:45Andy, we love what you did.
35:46This outfit
35:48could walk into
35:49any cool event
35:50and turn heads.
35:52It was really well put together.
35:56Gretchen,
35:56you stepped up again
35:58and you delivered.
36:00You are also the only one
36:01that did separates
36:02and they were all well made.
36:05And we could totally see you
36:06in the overall look.
36:12Andy,
36:13congratulations.
36:14you're the winner
36:15of this challenge.
36:17Thank you very much.
36:21You can leave the runway.
36:23I feel pretty damn amazing right now.
36:40And I think I needed this
36:42because the past two challenges
36:43I thought I did really good work
36:46that I thought fell below
36:48the judge's radar.
36:49Oh, it feels amazing.
36:52All right.
36:52Good job.
36:53But this time
36:55they said
36:56this dress was exactly me
36:57and it was.
37:04Gretchen,
37:04you're in.
37:06I can leave the runway.
37:07Thank you very much.
37:08AJ.
37:17You're in.
37:18You can leave the runway.
37:21So much.
37:21Sarah,
37:32Sarah,
37:32Casanova,
37:33one of you will be out.
37:37Casanova,
37:38you have been up here before
37:39and there's a reason for that.
37:41You tried a lot
37:43with this look
37:44and got derailed.
37:48Sarah,
37:49your dress was sad and boring.
37:52You should have trusted your instincts.
37:57We had a tough decision today.
38:00We had to decide
38:01between a boring and safe
38:03or the parade float.
38:13Casanova,
38:14you're in.
38:21You can leave the runway.
38:28I'm sorry, Sarah.
38:29That means you're out.
38:33Afira Ziri.
38:33Hey.
38:45Hey.
38:46Hey.
38:47God,
38:48don't be so sad.
38:48You're making me cry.
38:50You need a vacay, huh?
38:51Oh, yeah.
38:52Yeah.
38:52It's really sad
38:53to go in there
38:54and have to say goodbye
38:56to all these designers
38:57that we've met
38:58and we've been working together
38:59and we're just getting to know each other.
39:01It's kind of amazing
39:02the connections
39:02that you make with people
39:03even after such a short time.
39:05Oh, my.
39:06You can't do that
39:07because then I'm going to look at you
39:08and I'm going to start crying.
39:09Don't be doing that.
39:11It's definitely, you know,
39:12a sad little moment
39:13because I know that's like
39:14it's the last, you know,
39:15five minutes I've got to spend with them
39:17and then away she goes.
39:21Everyone,
39:22that was a fabulous show.
39:26But as you know,
39:28it's Project Runway musical chairs
39:30and someone goes home.
39:31That's true.
39:32So, Sarah,
39:32we're going to miss you terribly.
39:34Oh, bye, guys.
39:36Bye, Sarah.
39:37Bye, guys.
39:38I'm going to clean up my stuff.
39:40All right.
39:42You take care of it.
39:43I sure really will, Mr. Gunn.
39:45Why didn't I just listen to myself
39:46and do my cute little dress
39:48that I wanted to do
39:48and then I would be
39:50a whole lot smilier right now?
39:52The dress that I sent out
39:53was not good.
39:54But too late now.
40:10Okay, she's conscious.
40:12She's in the hallway.
40:14Just try and breathe nice and deep
40:17for me, okay?
40:18Nice and easy.
40:20Almost immediately
40:21from walking out the door
40:23to the elevator,
40:25Ivy passed out.
40:28Nice, easy place.
40:30Ivy's just fainted
40:31and I'm worried
40:33because I know
40:34they have to take her
40:35to the hospital
40:35and I...
40:36It just seems really serious to me.
40:38What are you feeling right now?
40:42Do you feel a little better?
40:43No, I'm just tired.
40:44Okay.
40:46I'm just really scared for her.
40:48I don't know
40:49if she's going to be okay,
40:51if she's going to go home.
40:53This has never happened to you before?
40:55Never?
40:56Still feel a little dizzy?
40:57Next time on Project Runway,
41:17I'm excited to introduce you
41:19to the artist himself,
41:20Philip Tracy.
41:21To have your dress
41:24worn with one of his hats,
41:26that's like the holy grail, dude.
41:28I wanted her to have an open neck.
41:29Ah!
41:30This really is going to be a tough challenge.
41:32I see some worried looks around here.
41:34I kind of wanted to do something
41:35a little off the cuff.
41:37You sold it short, literally.
41:39The design itself,
41:40it never came together at all.
41:42Oh, no.
41:43No.
41:51You sold it short, you sold it short, you sold it short.
42:21You sold it short.
42:22You sold it short, you sold it short, you sold it short.
42:23You sold it short, you sold it short.
42:24I wanted visiting the missing out for a few miles,
42:25ooh, it never came together,
42:26and you sold it short.
42:34I've held it short.
42:42We did a little more about the design
42:45and if we don't havengthen,
42:48we could make a little more usable than Mary thats what she ever景ics does.
