00:00Hi, everybody.
00:08We're back.
00:10Welcome to season eight.
00:11We have a lot of wonderful designers.
00:14Some good characters.
00:16Owing to the fact that this is such a talented group of designers, we're going to have to
00:19keep them on their toes.
00:21Because it's really tough around here.
00:23Very, very tough.
00:27This is Project Runway.
00:30Okay, I know this sounds totally vain, but I think Project Runway is the Ivy show.
00:39I started my line, Ivy H, two years ago.
00:43I sleep here, and I work here.
00:45I try to organize a little bit.
00:46The fabrics that I use are extremely luxurious.
00:49My construction skills are absolutely amazing.
00:51I'm a force to be reckoned with.
00:53I'm Casanova.
01:01I'm from Fajardo, Puerto Rico, but I live right now in New York.
01:06So you're Carlos Casanova, but you want to be called Casanova?
01:09Please.
01:10Why?
01:11It's my real last name.
01:12It's a big name to live up to.
01:13We won't even go there.
01:14I've already done everything in Puerto Rico.
01:18Avant-garde stuff, beauty pageant, aute, couture.
01:21So I think, what's next for you?
01:23And I think, I belong to New York.
01:25I'm Sarah Tross.
01:28I grew up in Northern California.
01:29I was born in L.A.
01:30Now I'm in New York.
01:32I definitely use unconventional combinations of materials and colors.
01:37So is this totally gross and ugly, or is this like the cutest thing I've ever seen?
01:41Hi, I'm Sarah.
01:42Hey, Jay.
01:43Nice to meet you.
01:43Where did you come from?
01:44I came from St. Charles, Missouri.
01:46Holy s***.
01:47Kind of out of my element a little bit.
01:49I design for the party girl, the punk rock girl.
01:53Definitely someone who will wear just about anything.
01:56I have no idea if I'm ready for what's coming my way.
01:59I could totally lie and say that like I'm ready to go and I'm going to beat everybody.
02:04But we all know that anybody who gets on there and says that they're going to win and kill
02:07everyone right now has no idea what they're talking about.
02:12My name is Peach Carr.
02:13I'm 50 years old and I'm from Lake Forest, Illinois.
02:17I design mostly for like the ladies who lunch, well dressed.
02:23Pretty crisp, clean lines.
02:26Am I going to be the oldest?
02:28Hell to the S.
02:29Hello there.
02:30Hi, hon.
02:31How are you?
02:32Nicholas, it's nice to meet you.
02:33Nice to meet you.
02:34We're the same height.
02:35We are.
02:35Excellent.
02:36Same color hair.
02:36Yes, we have something in common.
02:38Well, this is going to be a great time.
02:39I'm really excited.
02:39I can't wait to beat you.
02:41Beat me?
02:41Yeah.
02:41Oh, I'm sorry.
02:43Get ready to be school, little boy.
02:46Hello.
02:47Hi.
02:47How are you?
02:48Mikkel.
02:48Hi, Mikkel.
02:49Nice to meet you.
02:50Kristen.
02:51Casanova.
02:51Casanova, nice to meet you.
02:53Where are you from?
02:54I'm from Utah.
02:55No, I even don't know.
02:57You don't know.
02:58Don't turn down your menu now.
02:59You're like, I don't know.
03:01I am from Utah and I do feel like I get that stereotype.
03:05But at the end of the day, what I do create, I think, proves to people that I know what I'm
03:10doing.
03:11What kind of background do you guys have as far as your designing goes?
03:14My background is in graphic design.
03:16I am really an accidental apparel designer.
03:20Really what makes my designs unique is that I allow the mistakes that I make to be a part
03:27of the final piece.
03:28Some seamstresses, they said, oh no, you can't do that.
03:32You can't have a crooked zipper like that.
03:33I said, yes, you can.
03:34You can have a crooked zipper.
03:36Embrace the crooked zipper.
03:37So the fact that I was 14 years old and straight in high school designing didn't hurt me that
03:43much because I had a pretty short temper.
03:46So if anybody said a word to me, I would straighten them out.
03:52I like to mesh menswear, womenswear together, tough looks on women, not so tender on men.
03:58Hi.
04:00Hi.
04:01Hi.
04:02I'm Pete.
04:02Mondo, how you doing?
04:03Mondo, excellent.
04:04I almost wore the same thing.
04:05Really?
04:05Yeah.
04:05Nicholas, nice to meet you.
04:07Nicholas Mondo, hi.
04:08From New York, where are you from?
04:10Denver, Colorado.
04:11People's first impressions of me probably are that he's a little strange.
04:17But I think if you're misunderstood, then you have something really good going on.
04:21What do you do?
04:22Me?
04:23Well, before I did this, I was an architect.
04:24I then went into working designing accessories.
04:27The transition from architecture to fashion, it actually was a bit easier than I thought it
04:32was going to be.
04:33I like to play with seaming, I like to play with menswear materials, and I just feel like
04:38it's very architectural when you look at it.
04:40Hi.
04:41Hi.
04:42What's your name?
04:43I'm Christopher.
04:44Oh, I'm April.
04:45Nice to meet you.
04:46April, nice to meet you.
04:47I was walking down the street seeing a woman randomly wearing my clothes.
04:50When's the last time you were in New York?
04:51I just came up to do some fabric shopping because actually I'm pretty young.
04:55I just graduated college, so.
04:56Oh, congratulations.
04:58People might think I'm too young to be taking on a challenge like this, but I'm confident
05:03in who I am as a designer.
05:04I'm not the girl to come to to design your tea party dress.
05:10Unless it's going to be a little bit gnarly.
05:12I love to destroy to create.
05:14Hi, Michael.
05:15Hi, Sarah.
05:16Hi, Sarah.
05:17I'm 17 years old, opened up my first store.
05:22I've done great fashion events, I've been in editorial, I've gotten great celebs to wear
05:27my dresses.
05:28I came here to win.
05:29I'm going to shut this s*** down because I have what it takes.
05:44Hi, everybody.
05:45Hi.
05:46Hi.
05:47Welcome to Lincoln Center.
05:49The new home of New York Fashion Week.
05:52Three of you will be showing your final collections here in the fall, but you have a lot to prove
05:57to us before any of you find yourself right back here.
06:02You all know this distinguished man standing right next to me, Tim Gunn, Chief Creative Officer
06:09Phyllis Claimborn.
06:10Thank you, Heidi.
06:11Good morning, designers.
06:13I'm thrilled to see all of you here, all 17 of you.
06:16I have to tell you, you're all so talented that we just couldn't narrow the group of you
06:20down to the usual 16.
06:22Accordingly, your first challenge is actually the last phase of the audition process.
06:26Oh, my God.
06:27That was so evil.
06:28So none of you are officially on Project Runway Season 8 yet.
06:33In fact, one or more of you will be eliminated today.
06:38Oh, my God.
06:39That sucks.
06:40That's right.
06:41Today is your first challenge, the first runway show, and the first elimination.
06:46I mean, I knew that they were going to spring something crazy on us, but I didn't expect
06:49it to be like, okay, you're trying out still.
06:56Coming up on Project Runway.
06:58Since this is the first challenge, there's a twist.
07:02Oh, .
07:03This is sanity.
07:04I've never really been criticized on my clothes.
07:06What's attacking me?
07:07Oh, somebody's going to get hit.
07:14Now I see that all of you have your suitcases with you.
07:21Yeah?
07:22Oh, damn.
07:23Please open them up and pull out one item that you would like to incorporate into your
07:28garments.
07:29Okay.
07:30I don't even know what I'm going to use.
07:39I got into fashion primarily in knitwear.
07:42Knitwear is sort of a different beast.
07:44It's not exactly draping because you're fully creating one unit.
07:47There's nothing cut.
07:49I'm working in knitwear all the time and I'm stepping into something.
07:52It's like playing the harpsichord your entire life and then all of a sudden going to the electric
07:57guitar.
07:58So this item must be worked into your final garment.
08:01But since this is the first challenge and we want to see what you're made of, there's
08:06a twist.
08:07Please pass your item to the person to your right.
08:11This will be the garment you use in your design.
08:14Oh, somebody's going to get hit.
08:18Oh.
08:19I took like one of my favorite pants.
08:22It's $1,070.
08:25When I realized that they're going to like cut and do like the idiom in the United States
08:32happens.
08:33Designers, you have your new garments and you will have five hours to complete your design
08:39before it walks the runway.
08:40It was shocking to hear that we weren't completely on the show and then to only have five hours
08:45was also like, ah!
08:47We must be able to see the garment that you're holding right now in your final design in some
08:53way.
08:54All right, designers, let's head off to Parsons and get to work.
08:57Very, very exciting to have you.
08:59It's time for you.
09:00Exactly.
09:01My design aesthetic is one part contemporary minimalist art and one part 1970s bohemian.
09:10I am a sustainable clothing designer based out of Portland, Oregon.
09:14I'm a pretty rural girl from humble backgrounds.
09:17Everything I make is hand dyed by me.
09:20I live a pseudo-hippie lifestyle, but fashion first is always how I feel.
09:25I always want to be fashion first.
09:27I want you purchasing me because I'm an amazing brand and it just happens to be great.
09:33I feel like I'm a kid.
09:43When I was a kid, you know, we didn't have a lot of money.
09:46We had to buy a lot of stuff that I wasn't really crazy about.
09:48So usually I would try to find cool ways to make them look good.
09:52I believe that design should serve a purpose beyond aesthetics.
09:56Hello, designers.
09:59Hi.
10:00Hi, Tens.
10:01Welcome to the work room and I'm pleased to see that you've each found your work station.
10:05Excellent.
10:06Next door is the brother sewing room called such because it's fully outfitted with brother
10:11sewing machines.
10:12Technology is playing a greater role in the creative process.
10:16We have HP touch smart notebooks for each of you.
10:20This technology from HP and Intel is here to help you further enhance your creative process.
10:26And I have more good news for you.
10:28The first challenge, Mood, has come to us.
10:31Yay!
10:33Also, there is a model card and your model's measurements.
10:37They've been randomly selected for you.
10:39You have 15 minutes to sketch and then we're going to the Mood Annex.
10:43Work hard, everybody.
10:45Thanks, Tam.
10:46I know that my aesthetic is different.
10:50That's because I'm in Hawaii.
10:53I draw from a really genuine place.
10:55I began my career designing pageant gowns and I realized pretty early that it wasn't my passion.
11:02So now it's my time to design for me.
11:05All right, designers.
11:06Your sketching time is up and we are going to the Mood Annex.
11:11Follow me.
11:12It's all yours.
11:14This is from a jacket that April ended up having to give me that she loves.
11:25I'm going to make it work because that's what we're supposed to do.
11:30Oh, I just tore the wrong seam.
11:37I'm sorry.
11:38Should we, like, say a prayer over here?
11:40I got Casanova's Dolce & Gabbana pants.
11:43He hadn't even worn them yet.
11:45I bring to her my nice pants, Dolce & Gabbana.
11:51She was, like, cutting.
11:53How much were they?
11:54Because they were, like, $1,007.
11:58Don't talk anymore about the pants.
12:01Stop that.
12:02It's kind of insanity.
12:05Coming up on Project Runway.
12:08Is it sexy or is it vulgar?
12:11The clock is ticking.
12:12I think he doesn't like it at all.
12:25Designers, I just want to check in with each of you
12:27and see how you're doing.
12:28Hi, Mikkel.
12:29Hello.
12:30How are you doing?
12:31Well, at this point, I'm feeling a little frazzled.
12:35Can I be honest with you?
12:36I think this is adorable.
12:37Oh, that's good.
12:38That makes me happy.
12:39I started out with just a plain blue man shirt with these.
12:44What?
12:45Yeah.
12:46Just think about whether this makes it a little too heavy-handed.
12:48Okay, well, that's...
12:49And here, I just feel like it's trying too hard.
12:51Yeah, okay.
12:52Just play with it.
12:53Okay.
12:56Casanova.
12:57Yes.
12:58How are you?
12:59Good.
13:00There's a lot of skin that we'll be showing, yes?
13:01Mm-hmm.
13:02Is it sexy or is it vulgar?
13:04No, I think it's sexy.
13:07Really?
13:08Mm-hmm.
13:09Looks awfully low on the back.
13:11So you started with a blouse.
13:13Exactly.
13:14You wouldn't know that now.
13:15I think he doesn't like it at all.
13:17Nothing.
13:18Nothing at all.
13:19And then I would say you're doing well for what you have to work with.
13:23Exactly.
13:24Okay.
13:25Have her work it on that runway.
13:26Okay.
13:27Thank you, Casanova.
13:28You're welcome.
13:29Gretchen.
13:30Hi.
13:31What did you start out with?
13:32I started out with a little cape-like jacket with lots of applique.
13:36I didn't want to just approach this as, like, I'm using all the fabric or all the applique,
13:41but, like, what's the essence of this piece and what type of girl would be wearing it?
13:46I'm completely with her.
13:47Very simple.
13:48Yeah.
13:49Okay, great.
13:50Okay, thank you.
13:51Thank you very much, Gretchen.
13:54Coming up on Project Marais.
13:56She's pretty busty for a model.
13:58It's a big f***ing distraction.
13:59Thanks, sweetheart.
14:00My heart is pumping.
14:01I'm a nervous wreck.
14:02I have absolutely no point what to do.
14:05I think I'm gonna pass out.
14:06She's done?
14:07Yeah.
14:16Designers, I'm sending in your models.
14:18You will have ten minutes to fit them, alright?
14:22Then they are going to the Garnier Hair Salon and the L'Oreal Paris Makeup Room.
14:27That will take an hour.
14:29When they return, you'll be styling them for the runway.
14:32Use the Piper Lime accessory wall very thoughtfully.
14:36Alright?
14:37I'm sending in your models.
14:47Hello.
14:48Nice to meet you.
14:49Nice to meet you as well.
14:50Yeah.
14:51Oh, my God.
14:52It's the only way I'm gonna be able to get anywhere.
14:58Do you like it?
14:59Yeah.
15:00Okay, good.
15:01Nice.
15:02Is that dopey?
15:03Put your neck in here.
15:05Oh, thank you.
15:06Okay.
15:07She's really, um, she's pretty busty for a model, but it's a big f***ing distraction.
15:14I'm not gonna lie.
15:15She has no bra, and she's like, mine, you know?
15:18I'm like, oh, my God.
15:19And I don't wanna cross the boundaries like a doctor would, but, I mean, come on.
15:24So, I want, like, a mohawk, but it's, I want it curled.
15:36I wanna, like, big hair.
15:37Uh-huh.
15:38Like, big curls.
15:39Or make-up.
15:40Okay, make-up.
15:45Perfect.
15:54Designers and models, in 15 minutes, we are walking down to the runway.
15:59Fully prepared for the runway show.
16:05Where is my, I better go check on my model.
16:08Of course, it's madness.
16:09I just take my model down the hair, and I kind of forgot about her.
16:14Tell me quick.
16:15Just quick, just, um, bright, bold, red lip.
16:20Bright, bold, red lip.
16:21Yes.
16:23It's easy enough.
16:25Easy enough.
16:26Designers and models, this is it.
16:29Okay.
16:30Is everyone listening?
16:31Yes.
16:32We're headed down to the runway right now.
16:34Follow me.
16:35Come on, everyone.
16:36When Team Gunn says that it's time to go, my model, um, was undressed.
16:43Oh, she's not in her dress?
16:45No.
16:47Just keep going, Casanova.
16:48Okay, okay.
16:49You have to put her, put her in it.
16:50And I realized that I was working behind schedule.
16:53She's dressed.
16:54She's done.
16:55You just dressed her?
16:56Yeah, yeah, yeah.
16:57I did.
16:58She's done.
16:59What I have to do.
17:00She's done?
17:01Yeah.
17:02She just have to, like, put this in here.
17:05That's it.
17:06Well, then do that, right now.
17:09All right, that's it.
17:10What's up?
17:14Coming up on Project Runway.
17:19I'm sorry.
17:20I think it is butt ugly.
17:21She's a pole dancer in Dubai.
17:23It's almost fascinatingly bad.
17:25Welcome to the runway.
17:38As you know, in fashion, one day you're in, and the next day, you're out.
17:42There are 17 of you here, and after tonight, there will be less than 17.
17:55The first challenge was the final stage in your audition process.
17:59The 17 of you had to use an item from another designer's suitcase to create your look.
18:05We gave you a measly five hours to put a look together.
18:11We know you've got the talent, but can you deliver under pressure?
18:16The winner of Project Runway will receive $100,000 from L'Oreal Paris to start their own line.
18:21A fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine.
18:24A $50,000 technology suite from HP and Intel to create your vision and run your business.
18:30And the opportunity to design and sell your exclusive line on PiperLime.com.
18:35And the model paired with the winner of Project Runway will receive a fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine
18:40and $25,000 from L'Oreal Paris Studio Secrets Professional.
18:45Okay, let's meet the judges.
18:48First, we have CFDA Lifetime Achievement Award winner, Michael Kors.
18:53Welcome, guys.
18:54Fashion director for Marie Claire magazine, Nina Garcia.
18:57Welcome, everyone.
18:58And actress, named to the International Best Dress List, Salma Blair.
19:06Thank you. You're welcome.
19:07We will score your designs as they come down the runway.
19:10One of you will be named the winner, and one or more of you will be out.
19:14Let's start the show.
19:19I feel really good about my dress.
19:21We didn't have a lot to work with.
19:23I think my model's walking great.
19:25The styling is spot on.
19:26I mean, I made that thing in less than five hours.
19:29I'm just concerned about what the judges have to think.
19:39I'm excited to see Ify come down the runway in my garment.
19:42I think it looks great.
19:43I think she's walking the daylights out of it.
19:45I'm excited.
19:46I'm really at peace.
19:47My dress is definitely moving.
19:48I wish I would have maybe taken a little of the fullness out of the dress because the dress is looking fuller than how I want it to look.
20:00It was a great path.
20:01It was a great path.
20:02It was a good dress.
20:03It was perfect.
20:04It was perfect.
20:05It was perfect.
20:06It was perfect.
20:07It was perfect.
20:08It was perfect.
20:09It was perfect.
20:10It was perfect.
20:11Watching my look come down the runway, I feel really good.
20:14I'm seeing a complete look come down, a complete look that looks like I've spent days on it and I know that I had only five hours to do this.
20:27I think that's pretty amazing.
20:28I definitely feel good about the finished product of my look.
20:33The main thing that I was worried about is that there was going to be some sort of crotch problem, but I definitely feel good about the finished product of my look.
20:51The main thing that I was worried about is that there was going to be some sort of crotch problem, but I definitely think it was good.
21:06I made Julia look beautiful.
21:08I really like clean, sophisticated garments.
21:11My only concern is I know the judges are looking for innovative, over-the-top stuff, and sometimes that's kind of not what I do.
21:21I see my dress and I love it, I really do, but I'm worried about the hem because it was a little wonky.
21:36But overall, the styling and the way she's styling it is working really well.
21:42I think she looks gorgeous.
21:47I think the look works great.
21:49It's very impressive seeing what it looks like on the model.
21:52So I'm feeling pretty good right now.
21:54I was so excited when I saw my dress coming down the runway.
22:07I was like, oh, it looks so good.
22:10Wow.
22:11I love the whole flow of it.
22:13This is a classy, elegant, sophisticated look.
22:17I really like the whole look.
22:32I think the judges were pleased with the look and what I did with it and how I incorporated Mondo's kilt and made it a collar.
22:39The look I made is definitely me.
22:52It's a five hour taste of what I am, but I feel like I got my message through.
22:56And I was proud of it.
22:57When I see my garment walk out, I think it's cool, it's modern, it's edgy, it's forward.
23:16But I was just unhappy that I couldn't have everything completely done and tailored.
23:20But I just didn't have time.
23:33My model comes around the corner and I nailed it.
23:36She looks stunning.
23:37I feel like she embodied what I needed.
23:41I could tell she really liked it.
23:43And I think those things are all key in making your challenge turn into a win.
23:49Everything about my garment I absolutely love.
23:56I'm really happy with the hair and makeup.
23:58The model's fabulous and it looks wonderful.
24:00I was really, really proud.
24:02So my look coming down the runway is not holding up.
24:18It's coming apart at the seams.
24:24I know I'm in for it.
24:33When I first see the silhouette, I'm terrified because I can't tell how together it is.
24:40Once it finally really hits the runway, I actually think that it looks pretty good.
24:45However, I do think that I might have to defend myself in terms of aesthetic as I feel like I have the garment that stands out the most.
24:52When I saw my model, I felt more comfortable because on stage looks prettier than on my working table.
25:08It's sexy, but it's not vulgar.
25:29Those of you who survived tonight will be moving into Project Runway's original New York home at the Atlas.
25:38It's very important.
25:39It's very important.
25:44For me, I'm literally a woman and I'm very confident.
25:47I'm really confident in her own.
25:48I'm happy not to do this.
25:49I was happy to make her look happy, but I'm just happy to make her look happy.
25:50All of you have a little bit better today.
25:52peach please step forward kristen please step forward michael castello please step forward
26:03mondo please step forward michael drummond christopher please step forward
26:11if i've called your name congratulations your scores have qualified you to move on to the next
26:18challenge you can leave the runway and you can unpack one of you is the clear winner
26:35gretchen you are the winner of this challenge congratulations thank you thank you so much
26:43you had one of the worst materials to work with tell me about it and you turn it into something
26:49chic and fashionable thank you the dress is wearable but interesting it's beautifully cut
26:55i can see it on a million different girls bravo thank you i thought she looked very sophisticated
27:02i also loved your styling it was just perfectly done congratulations i agree i thought it was simply
27:10elegant when you when you came out i was like ah it really was really a special simple dress thank
27:16you thank you all very much congratulations gretchen you and your model can leave the runway
27:20i won and it feels really good i also feel a little weird because i have a sinking suspicion that
27:46there are a lot of people going home tonight since this is the final stage of the audition process
27:54today we do not have a top three and a bottom three all of you are in the bottom none of you should feel safe
28:02the rest of you represent the bottom six since this is the last phase of your audition process we're
28:17going to talk to and hear from all of you ivy tell us about your look um the garment that i started with
28:24was peach's pant i guess my design aesthetic is a little more minimalistic where it's more attention to
28:30detail like on the side of the pant here i have the pleating detail and the embellishment on the
28:36blouse well no offense to peach but i don't know why she packed those but you didn't transform well the
28:44challenge wasn't to transform it was to implicate into our design so you just showed her pants and
28:49rushed them up the side and i look at the blouse which to me kind of looks like it went through a
28:55paper shredder sorry to interrupt or interject but i i i don't know i guess i just have to disagree
29:00because i just feel like there's a lot of detail to it forget what you did to the pant or not the
29:05blouse looks mumsy it's a odd length then to top that off the styling is a disaster i too had the same
29:15thought when it came out i was like wow she made pants out of pants how interesting nice jason tell us
29:22about your look so i got this kimono beautiful kimono from andy well my model came in the the size and
29:28really it wasn't really fitting her so you know i kind of adjusted the fit and every time she came
29:34out it just kept sinking and sinking and there's really nothing you guys could say that i won't
29:38agree with this to me looks exactly like my hairdressing cape i was wearing without my haircut
29:45and then when i look at what you had to work with not much has changed so sad it's a little backwards
29:52bathrobe april i received a men's blazer and i cut out the front panels and turned it inside out and
30:03then i took fabric from mood and did the dress underneath and then the back panels i wanted it
30:09to be kind of raw and kind of unfinished that always worries me too you know when people do
30:15this reddit look because then you never know is it because you don't know how to do it my cow okay so
30:24i got aj's short sleeve button down shirt and it had some metal bits on the shoulder and i got rid of
30:34the metal bits up here and brought some metallic into her skirt and then i just wanted to make it fun and
30:39flirty and a good time i like the fact that you mix these fabrics that precious fabric with that
30:48common just buttoned down shirt but the styling again guys you have to be very mindful of that
30:55because it's all about the presentation that bad it's the flower with the hair the styling i agree with
31:02nina it's it's a train wreck i have to say too and i'm sorry i think it is but ugly it is just so
31:09not flattering nicholas the item that i had to work with was christopher's bomber jacket this was
31:17actually the bottom of the jacket the ribbing and i had this idea of trying to take this sportswear
31:23and trying to mix it with an evening look the whole thing really just doesn't mesh together
31:28nicholas i think the idea of doing sportswear and evening sounds fantastic but this is too quiet
31:38so it's almost like it's a snooze casanova the garment that i have to work with was that kind of
31:49blouse with a lot of movement a lot of tails so i was trying to find another fabric and still match with
32:00the original one it's odd i mean it's the only word for it i mean it's this strange mix of things she's
32:07like a mother of the bride who's a belly dancer i mean she's sexaholic but she's conservative i don't
32:13know who she is she's a pole dancer in dubai okay we're gonna have a little chat and we'll bring you
32:21back out you can leave the runway thank you all right why don't we start with ivy who made pans out of
32:38pants what a stretch what a stretch and she didn't quite understand that she actually tried to convince
32:46us to no avail that this was good taste and this was good casanova he definitely thought outside of
32:54the box i mean whoa that's a blouse turned into a belly dancing dress i mean it's an odd one and the
33:01taste level is certainly scary you wouldn't dream of ever hitting broad daylight in this dress it's just
33:09i mean i don't think anybody would dream of coming up with this outfit from that top let's talk about
33:17jason his story was so bizarre yeah he's the only one who actually had a lot of fabric he had all of
33:26it all i did was why is he not using the sewing machine but i do actually like the way it kind of
33:35was put together i like the boot with it i like the spiky hair i like the spiky kelly hair look
33:42that's true what do we think about april i think she obviously was frazzled by the time involved
33:51i think today it was a mess when you really looked at the outfit but at least the taste is modern it's
33:56it's now it doesn't look like a pastiche from another time i agree who knows if she knows how to
34:01actually make clothes right but this challenge was like the the shortest one you guys have ever done
34:06isn't it in history so for the unfinished seams and everything it's like you feel like you really
34:10have to say okay i get it i mean they had five hours for this on their first day
34:17what about mikhail she definitely lives in a different world she's in an alternate universe
34:24the only thing to me that that had any merit there was the idea that she thought
34:30okay i'm going to take this very casual shirt and mix it with and i'm going to go glam with it
34:34and mix it up the sleeves off just didn't work yeah and she made the model look unflattering that
34:41was very unflattering on her body so i don't know is there something cool in her that we didn't see
34:45today i don't know what about nicolas he's got a girl who's gorgeous and i think she could wear a bag
34:55but even her beauty didn't sell you the gown which was just a boring dress he on the other hand i'm
35:04bored but i know he knows how to make clothes i mean it was a finished evening gown and he was very
35:10concerned to deliver something that looked well made and finished that was very respectful but he sent
35:18out a boring dress do you reward the person who's safe or do you you know reward someone who it
35:24didn't work but they at least tried i don't know is there anyone that we want to give a second chance to
35:32i think so all right let's bring them back out
35:41the six of you were in the bottom of this challenge
35:46this was our first impression of you and none of you should feel safe
35:51the six of you were in the bottom of this challenge
36:04this was our first impression of you
36:10april we want to see more from you you're in you can leave the runway thank you
36:15you make room for me on that couch
36:28nicolas we want to see if you can push yourself given more time
36:33you're in you can leave the runway thank you so much i'll push myself so hard thank you thank you so much
36:45jason we are intrigued you're in you can leave the runway thank you
36:54michael
36:57we were perplexed not only by your design but also by your poor styling choices
37:06casanova no one can say that you didn't think outside of the box
37:11you look was fascinatingly bizarre and we question your taste
37:22ivy you didn't stretch yourself in this challenge you made pants out of pants
37:30and not very well at that
37:31michael
37:38i'm sorry you're out
37:39i'm sorry
37:50No, I'm not messing with you
38:08Ivy
38:17Casanova
38:20You're both getting another shot
38:24Thank you
38:28There's something about each of you that interests us
38:32You're both in, you can leave the runway
38:35Thank you so much
38:36Gracias
38:37Creativity is amazing
38:45Uh oh
38:46What happened?
38:48We are in
38:50How is everybody?
39:00I always feel sick about the first designer who's off the show
39:05Mikkel, I have to tell you something
39:08I stand by my earlier statement
39:10The dress is adorable
39:12Didn't fit your model very well
39:14And there was the dubious styling
39:15But it's a lesson to all of you
39:17It's every little subtlety and nuance
39:19We're gonna miss you
39:20Thank you
39:22All right
39:23So I have to send you the work room to clean up your space, okay?
39:27Bye Mikkel
39:28I'm feeling a little bummed but you know I guess someone has to be the first and that's me
39:36It's hard to follow your dreams
39:37Sometimes you get knocked down but if everyone quit after the first time they got knocked down
39:42And no one would amount to anything
39:44So hopefully I'll pick myself up and do something really great with this experience
39:49Moving into Atlas is so surreal, I made it, I'm in the cut, like here we go Project Runway
40:02Oh wow
40:04We made it here
40:06And the apartment is very cool
40:07We opened up the curtains and there was larger than life New York City
40:10Welcome designers
40:12Ah
40:13Thanks Tim
40:14They need to start providing alcohol
40:16This is so pretty
40:19This is way better than camp
40:20I don't sleep, I'm a vampire
40:22What?
40:23I never ever ever wanted to be on the bottom again
40:26That feeling really really sucked
40:28Mm-hmm
40:30I wonder what we're gonna do tomorrow though
40:31I'm scared about tomorrow's chat
40:33How do you feel?
40:34Because you was like in the same boat
40:36I'm happy it got today over with
40:38Hopefully when I wake up tomorrow I feel like
40:41Yeah, you just need a good night's sleep
40:43But really they want to see more work from you
40:45So I think that's successful
40:48Good night bitches
40:50Good night
40:51Well let's go to bed
40:52Yeah I'm tired
40:53Good night Sarah
40:54Good night Gretchen
40:55Good night John boy
40:56Okay so now I'm finally on the show
40:59Like what's next?
41:01Next time on Project Runway
41:04The winner of this challenge will have their look featured
41:07I mean that is huge!
41:09You have one day for this challenge
41:11Oh!
41:14There is another element
41:15So plan B
41:16They don't see something that's superbly finished
41:19They will not have the patience
41:21Do you have a sketch?
41:22No it's all in my head
41:27You try to do way too many things with your design
41:29It just looks very cliche
41:31Is that a walk of shame dress?
41:33The question is now how many people do we want to get rid of?
41:36The question is now how many people do we want to get rid of?
42:06Every time when I'm sorry
42:07Even with the challenge
42:08And any woman in mourning
42:10As far as the challenge of the challenge
42:13And they are adults
42:14Then there are attitudes
42:15That's why people don't have to work
42:16The question is now as a person
42:17Not only can you about to do
42:18I can't be tempted
42:19are低enas
42:20And I can't repeat
42:25Assessence
42:26At sea
