00:01Previously on Project Runway.
00:03For this challenge, you will be working in two teams of six.
00:09I look over on the other side.
00:11It's all of the self-proclaimed superstars,
00:14and I am on this team full of underdogs.
00:18Military, raise your hand.
00:20Okay, yeah.
00:21We don't have time to deliberate.
00:22Do it.
00:23Gretchen has become the leader.
00:25You only get to do one more.
00:26Michael, you have to make this work.
00:28Come on, man.
00:30I think these clothes are the kind of clothes that women are going to want to wear.
00:35Congratulations.
00:36You are the winning team.
00:37We have to pick one winner, and that winner is Casanova.
00:41Congratulations.
00:44It has no design.
00:46The colors are gasping.
00:48We worked really hard.
00:49Gretchen, someone's going down.
00:52I'm sorry, AJ. You're out.
00:54It's sad to see AJ go because it was Gretchen's fault.
00:57She should have been the one going home.
00:59This is Project Runway.
01:01The winner of Project Runway will receive $100,000 from L'Oreal Paris to start their own line,
01:06a fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine,
01:09a $50,000 technology suite from HP and Intel to create their vision and run their business,
01:14and the opportunity to design and sell an exclusive collection on PiperLime.com.
01:18The model paired with the winner of Project Runway will receive a fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine,
01:22and $25,000 from L'Oreal Paris Studio Secrets Professional.
01:27Oh, good morning!
01:34I'm being trapped in hell.
01:36Group work is excruciatingly painful.
01:39Yes, no, are you still the winner?
01:42Yes?
01:43Is that a yes?
01:44Mm-hmm.
01:45The best thing to be the winner is not to be the winner.
01:50For me, it's to have immunity for the next challenge, and maybe makes me feel more confident as a designer.
01:59Okay, that was one mighty, ugly runway.
02:04I mean, not for us.
02:06Yeah, and Michael C., I mean, I think that if it came down to it and he wasn't safe, then he would be the one going home.
02:11He'd be gone. Absolutely.
02:13And he deserves to because he doesn't know how to sew.
02:16Michael C. doesn't know how to sew. He doesn't know how to tailor. He doesn't know how to make a pattern.
02:19I think regardless of if Michael C. had immunity, we all agreed that he was the poorest in our group.
02:27Do you think he's going to go next?
02:28I think there's potential for him to go.
02:30Yeah, I think maybe he would.
02:31And I'd also like him to go, but...
02:33At this point, I really don't know who is my friend.
02:37I'm scared.
02:38There's some people who don't like me very much.
02:41They all threw me under the bus.
02:44I really feel like Michael was our weakest lead.
02:46Michael had not the strongest skill.
02:48I did think that Michael had the least amount of skill set.
02:51And the thing is, I don't know if it's laziness or just ignorance.
02:54So bleep bleep bleep bleep bleep bleep them all.
02:57Do you want to come outside and talk with us?
03:02Not really.
03:04I'm pretty bummed out about what transpired during the group challenge.
03:09I don't know why you allowed Gretchen to manipulate, control, and bully you.
03:15I don't understand it.
03:17I'm not a manipulative person, and it really, really hurt my feelings to have Tim say that to me.
03:23It kind of clouds my vision maybe a little bit.
03:26I think it's good for her to show her that it backed out the reality.
03:31Let's go get beat up.
03:33Now we go up to the bottom.
03:34Hello.
03:35Hi.
03:36It's time for your next challenge.
03:37Cousin Nova, you were the winner of the last challenge.
03:38So you have immunity and you cannot be eliminated this week.
03:53For this challenge, you will have new models and quite a task ahead of you.
04:00Let's bring them out.
04:02I'm f***ing my pants because these dresses are hideous.
04:18So what do you think of these dresses?
04:21Well, you probably have figured out that these are all bridesmaids in their bridesmaids dresses.
04:29And just like every other bridesmaid, they were all told, you can totally wear that again.
04:38For this challenge, you will need to take these bridesmaids dresses and create a look that these women would want to wear.
04:46Good luck with that.
04:48I don't know why every bride wants her bridesmaids to look so bad, but they do.
04:53Hi, I'm Brooke.
04:54Hi, I'm Christina.
04:55Hi, I'm Laura.
04:56Hi, my name is Nana.
04:58Hi, I'm Kim.
04:59And I don't know if you noticed, but I have a huge vertical bow on my chest.
05:06Oh, yeah.
05:08Just when we think we've gotten so used to our models, it's like Project Runway decides to be like,
05:13more ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha.
05:14Bam!
05:15They just give us, like, crop fabric and, like, ugly colors.
05:18I'm Lena, and I feel like this bridesmaid's dress was inspired by a giant Jolly Rancher.
05:25Casanova, you won the last challenge, so you get to choose your bridesmaids first.
05:30I will pick Julia.
05:31Julia.
05:33I didn't pick Julia because of the dress.
05:36I just picked Julia because she's a stunning girl.
05:39Tall, skinny, stylish.
05:42Let's see who gets to choose next.
05:47April.
05:49I choose the silver pleated gown.
05:54Peach.
05:55I'm kind of a sucker for a green dress, so I would like the green dress.
05:59I choose the white bateau neck.
06:05Brooke in the black and white dress.
06:08I'm going to take on this vertical bow.
06:13I'm going to go with Nana.
06:15Amanda.
06:17Amanda has this bridesmaid's dress that is kind of a rosy pink, which is a color I really like to work with.
06:22A little surprise in the back.
06:32Oh, gosh.
06:34It's pretty bad now, and it just got worse.
06:37It's not, it's not cute.
06:39Now I'm sweating.
06:41I choose Latifah.
06:42How come the two of you are last?
06:46I don't know.
06:47What's going on?
06:48I'm not sure.
06:52Valerie.
06:54I will choose Lena in the Jolly Rancher dress.
07:00Michael, that means you will be working with Jacqueline.
07:03I, of course, am the last person picked.
07:06It's a date.
07:07All right.
07:08I can't wait.
07:09I get the worst dress.
07:14Okay, now I would like for you to all remember that this will be a runway, not a wedding aisle.
07:21So make these bridesmaids dresses runway worthy.
07:25Good luck.
07:27Can I see you on the runway?
07:28Cheers.
07:41Good morning, designers.
07:43Good morning.
07:45You are to take this bridesmaid's dress and rework it a new look, something that your model can wear out, not wear it to a wedding.
07:54We are going shopping at Mood.
07:55You'll have a budget of $50.
07:58You can buy up to two yards of additional fabric.
08:02You have to use most of this dress.
08:05All right.
08:07So I'm going to be sending your clients in.
08:09You will have 30 minutes with them to consult, to sketch, to come up with a new design.
08:14All right.
08:17Hi.
08:23There's not enough sketch in the world to save this ensemble.
08:29Christopher.
08:30Yes.
08:31In spite of your handsomeness and charms.
08:33Yeah.
08:34Your model has cold feet.
08:36She's bolted.
08:37Oh, no.
08:38So I'm here to introduce you to Ava.
08:40This is your new model and client and a new dress.
08:44Great.
08:46Hi.
08:47So Ava, meet Christopher.
08:48I'll leave the two of you.
08:50So, what should we do?
08:51Yay, Lena!
08:54Nice to meet you.
08:56Hi.
08:57Pretty sophisticated, but really edgy.
08:59I like it.
09:00Yeah.
09:01Brooke and I are going to get along fine.
09:03It's fun when you do have a client that you can relate to.
09:06Maybe we'll do something really pretty in the back.
09:09Open and do really small loops to do a lace-up back.
09:13Your upper body, your shoulders are so good.
09:15I want to highlight that.
09:16Okay.
09:17I'm always thinking of some kind of a blouse that cuts down in the back to show off her beautiful shoulders and a pencil skirt.
09:23Kind of give her a little curve.
09:25Give it some hip and then when you hit this.
09:27Okay.
09:28And then give him a little bit of this.
09:29And then it doesn't hurt to give him a little.
09:33Designers, let's head off the mood.
09:36Yay!
09:37Follow me.
09:38That is.
09:39Bye for pizza.
09:40See ya.
09:41Bye.
09:42Coming up on Project Always.
09:44It's like a great big bra.
09:45It looks like a clubbing outfit.
09:46It's way too much.
09:47It's making me want to go home.
09:49I have a surprise for you.
09:52Some of you look very scared.
09:54Yeah.
09:55I am half excited and half freaked out.
10:03Alright designers, you have your $50 budget and you have 30 minutes to shop.
10:07Okay, and your time starts now.
10:09So the challenge is to take these bridesmaids dresses and rework them in a way that these girls want to wear them again.
10:22We only have two yards of fabric that we can purchase so I'm buying upholstery fabric which I normally wouldn't do.
10:28But I get more yardage this way.
10:31I can't decide if that looks too cheap or not.
10:33Well it is cheap.
10:37Alright everybody, I can buy a snow cone.
10:39Alright everyone, let's head back to the work room.
10:44I don't even want my girls size to be a conversation topic.
10:49It's about making that god-awful dress into something cool regardless.
10:54My bridesmaid said she was just looking for something that's shorter and a little more fitted with the dress.
10:59A few nips here, a few tucks there.
11:01It's going to be beautiful.
11:02How are you?
11:03Oh, I'm homesick.
11:05You could do this.
11:06You know Gretchen, this is an opportunity that you have to take the maximum advantage of.
11:12I know, that's why I needed to call my mommy.
11:15Well it's so lovely that you would still need your mother.
11:19I love you.
11:20I love you too.
11:22Talking to her reminded me that I need to stay focused on my work.
11:28When Tim made that comment to Gretchen about being bossy and manipulative.
11:32I don't know why you allowed Gretchen to manipulate, control, and bully you.
11:37It crushed me inside for her because I know that that is not what she intended.
11:42There's not a malicious bone in her body.
11:46Hi everyone.
11:48Tim walked in and Gretchen looks a little worried because I think what Tim said broke Gretchen down.
11:57So Gretchen, did you create this ombre effect?
11:59Yeah, I'm really happy with it.
12:01What Tim said during the group challenge bummed me out a lot.
12:05But what I need Tim to do for me is to critique the task at hand, not be my emotional mentor.
12:12Because he doesn't know me, he knows my work.
12:16It's a beautiful effect.
12:18I will tell you this though, they're looking very athletic.
12:20Because if you think about this and the broad shoulders and the racer back top.
12:25I swear to God when you guys say something it's like...
12:28That's why I come in.
12:29Because you're so close to it, all of you.
12:31Mm-hmm.
12:32Thank you Gretchen.
12:33Yeah, thank you Tim.
12:34Michael.
12:35This is her dress.
12:37She wanted this lace stuff on top.
12:41She asked for lace with a puff sleeve?
12:44She really wanted lace right up here with a little bit of emphasis on the sleeve.
12:49Try to talk her out of this lace thing.
12:51I really want to.
12:53Well Mondo, this is quite a transformation.
12:55It has a 60's mod vibe about it.
12:58Yeah, do you like it?
12:59I'm actually crazy about it.
13:01You've turned this monstrosity into a really cute dress.
13:04Yeah?
13:05Yeah.
13:06Okay, cool.
13:07Beautiful.
13:08Thank you so much.
13:09How's Peach?
13:10I think I'm fine.
13:11I'm not crazy about this print.
13:13I am.
13:14This is so gauzy.
13:15Mm-hmm.
13:16But if you have something over this green as to help transition it.
13:20Right.
13:21That could be nice.
13:22Right, thank you.
13:23Thank you Peach.
13:25Appreciate it Tim.
13:26Christopher, talk to me.
13:28My challenge is making this fabric not look like curtains.
13:32You just have to watch the proportion of this to this.
13:35Right.
13:36Designers, I have a nice little surprise for you.
13:39Oh jeez.
13:40Tomorrow is not a runway day.
13:44We have set up a designer showcase for you and we have invited hundreds of people.
13:49Oh my gosh.
13:50You will be presenting your design on your model slash client at the designer showcase.
13:59Oh my gosh.
14:00Oh my gosh.
14:01The guests are going to vote on their favorite outfit.
14:04Oh god.
14:05Oh my gosh.
14:06Oh my gosh.
14:07That will certainly factor into the judges deliberation.
14:10Oh my gosh.
14:11About your work.
14:12Some of you look very scared.
14:13Yeah, I am very scared.
14:14I am half excited and half freaked out.
14:15Well to help you, I am sending in your models.
14:16Yay.
14:17Oh my gosh.
14:18I'm really excited about it.
14:19Cool.
14:20I'm glad.
14:21So this is something you would wear.
14:22I would totally wear this.
14:23Woo.
14:24My client loves to dress.
14:25However, she wants the sleeves.
14:27Let's get some of that black lace and play around with it and see what we can do.
14:44I'm a little frustrated because the skirt is fitting kind of funny because I made a cutting
14:50error.
14:51All right.
14:52Thank you for being so beautiful.
14:53Okay, take care.
14:54So I'm in a little bit of a peach panic right now.
14:57Oh, that's the front.
14:58Coming up on Project Runway.
15:02You're getting massive amounts of boobage.
15:05Michael C is trying to sabotage me.
15:07He's trying to hurt me.
15:08Things might be a little rough.
15:16How you feeling, Peachy?
15:18Well, I made a cutting error and didn't have enough fabric to correct it.
15:21It'll work out.
15:22We're going to see real people and I don't know if they're going to like this show.
15:26I don't know if they're going to like this dress because I don't like this dress.
15:29But Erica's darling and I can, you know, sell ice in Iceland.
15:34Hey, girl.
15:35Hi.
15:36Hi.
15:37Hi.
15:38Hi.
15:39Hi.
15:40Hi.
15:41Hi.
15:42Hi.
15:43Hi.
15:44Hi.
15:45Hi.
15:46Yes.
15:47So it's cute.
15:48Ten minutes.
15:49I'm going to put the feminine detail to it.
15:50We tried on that little lace piece and who do?
15:54It looked really good.
15:55Once it was on her, I loved it.
15:57Everyone follow me, please.
15:59Let's go, go, go.
16:00Hope for the best.
16:02What's up?
16:03Sit.
16:04Designers, this showcase is a wonderful opportunity for each of you.
16:13Let me tell you how it's going to work.
16:15You each have a small stage on which your client in your redesigned bridesmaids dress will stand.
16:22On your stand is a fishbowl in which people will place one button.
16:28They will be voting for their favorite look.
16:30Designers, off your spaces.
16:38She could wear this with jeans and be, like, casual sexy.
16:41She could wear this with a blazer and be a little bit more, like, office appropriate.
16:44This is all hand painted.
16:46Wow.
16:47Yeah.
16:48Her client's boobage is hanging out from the side.
16:50You're getting massive amounts of boobage.
16:52Hi.
16:53Come on over and say hi.
16:54Hi.
16:55Erica's a teacher, and she came with this crazy-looking green dress.
16:58Can I see the back?
16:59Yeah.
17:00The back is great.
17:02I'm feeling pretty good.
17:03I had some really nice reactions, especially to the back.
17:08I didn't have much fabric to work with, so.
17:10Well, you made kid magic.
17:13Look around, and then you can come and give me your butt.
17:16I'm from Denver, Colorado, so in the design,
17:19I wanted to play with the idea of mountain props.
17:22There is a fishbowl right next to me,
17:24and every time I hear a button drop in there,
17:27it makes a great sound and a little load of confidence on my side.
17:33Look at Michael C's container.
17:35Well, girl, we got this.
17:37We got this.
17:42Michael C has been telling the guests that I'm the bitch of the show.
17:46I know, it's a pivotal name.
17:47The rumor is that Michael C is trying to sabotage me.
17:49He's been telling people not to go for me because I'm the bitch of the show.
17:52It's a stupid thing to say.
17:54Why would you tell people, like, which way to go?
17:57I think it's totally inappropriate.
17:59I'm so irritated right now.
18:02Coming up on Project Runway.
18:04I cut the front as the back and the back as the front.
18:06It's not straight.
18:07My poor darling peach is struggling.
18:09We are heading down to the runway right now.
18:11Let's go, go, go.
18:20I had a fun time with the button party yesterday.
18:22Oh, me too.
18:23Yesterday, we all got to see our designs on our models at the showcase.
18:28I'm noticing this morning a lot of people are running around trying to change things that we took an editing eye to.
18:35I'm going to open this up and fix it.
18:38Oh.
18:40Good morning, designers.
18:41Good morning.
18:42How is everybody?
18:43Good.
18:44Good.
18:45Excellent.
18:46You have two hours to prep your models, to send them to the Garnier Hair Salon in the L'Oreal Paris makeup room.
18:51Use the Piper Lime accessory wall very thoughtfully, and you can deliver some good news to your models slash clients.
18:58Piper Lime dot com is giving them each a gift of jewelry from their website.
19:02I know.
19:03Oh, that's cool.
19:04Which is lovely, isn't it?
19:05Awesome.
19:06Yeah.
19:08How are you?
19:09Good.
19:10How are you?
19:11I have to take out, yeah, a little volume.
19:12Yeah.
19:13It's volumptuous.
19:15I cut the front as the back and the back as the front.
19:17It's not straight.
19:18My poor darling peach is struggling.
19:20The skirt at the bottom was in between two different skirts, so I think she had a hard time with it.
19:27I would just take it in like the least bit, like a fourth an inch.
19:31I think my model's going to have to wear biker shorts to go underneath her top because I don't think the skirt's going to be finished.
19:37Be back in a couple minutes.
19:38Okay.
19:43Hello.
19:44You want to do a dark, smoky eye?
19:46Not campy.
19:47Cute and sweet and enhancing and beautiful.
19:49Okay.
19:50How does it feel?
19:51Getting pampered.
19:52I love it.
19:53I want it to be soft.
19:55A little iron, maybe bring out a little bit of the curl.
19:58Cool?
19:59Great.
20:00Don't knock it out.
20:01I know you will.
20:02Coming up on Project Runway.
20:03I don't understand this at all.
20:05It just looks weird and old.
20:07She's got an avocado goiter.
20:10Hello.
20:11Hi.
20:12Welcome to the runway.
20:13As you know in fashion one day you're in and the next day you're out.
20:26There are 11 of you here and after tonight there will be 10.
20:31This challenge we asked you to take bridesmaids dresses and make them into fashionable looks
20:37that could actually be worn again.
20:39You had an ugly bridesmaids dress, $50 for extra fabric and one day to put it together.
20:45And we gave you the opportunity to show off your looks to the public.
20:49And they voted on your designs.
20:51The votes were counted.
20:53And Mondo, you get the most votes.
20:56Yay.
20:57This will count to your scores in the judging.
21:01Let's meet the judges.
21:03First we have CFDA Lifetime Achievement Award winner Michael Kors.
21:06Hey guys.
21:07Hi.
21:08Fashion director for Marie Claire Magazine Nina Garcia.
21:11Hello.
21:12Hi.
21:13And American fashion designer who just launched a collection of bridesmaids dresses, Cynthia
21:18Raleigh.
21:19Hi.
21:20Hello.
21:21We will score your designs as they come down the runway.
21:24One of you will be named the winner and one of you will be out.
21:28Let's start the show.
21:31I am looking at Amanda and I'm feeling very confident about how she's selling the garment.
21:40You know, she's from Jersey City and she's definitely giving me that Jersey strut.
21:45I am 150% happy with the transformation.
21:50I mean, the bridesmaids dress was a catastrophe.
21:52This dress is definitely a miracle.
21:56When I saw Laura walking down the runway, I was proud of it.
22:02The one thing that did bother me about my look was Laura's pants.
22:07Because I think it could have been fitted better, but I did work with what I had.
22:11I'm just hoping that the judges like it, but even if they don't, I know Laura loves it.
22:18I think my model looks great.
22:30All I can do now is hope for the best and not worry about what I've done or what it looks
22:35like because I really give my best shot.
22:50Yeah, girl.
22:51It was flattering to her physique.
22:53It was very me.
22:57And that's all I can ask for.
23:11I see my model come down the runway and I think, oh, for the love of God and all that's holy,
23:16what did I do to this girl?
23:17You know, usually I do glance at the judges, but I really didn't want to see the look on Michael's face.
23:23But I mean, Erica walked like she loved it.
23:28I hope she's having as much fun as she looks like she's having.
23:37Kim looks amazing, but this is the first time that I'm looking at the shorts this far away.
23:42And I think they were sexier yesterday, but the overall look is still really good and really strong.
24:01I'm looking at Nina Garcia's face and her face only.
24:04She looks at my dress and she puts the little card over her head.
24:09I was like, oh my God, it's too short.
24:13I'm dying inside.
24:14That's it.
24:15I'm done.
24:16I'm going home.
24:25I think the dress looks amazing on the runway.
24:27I love it.
24:28Fabulous.
24:29I think it's a dress for a lot of women.
24:32It's really well made.
24:34The silhouette and the color tone on her body is exactly what I wanted to do.
24:43My model looks super confident.
24:47And I did my best.
24:48And if they send me home, if they send me home, I'm not going to cry.
24:52Everything was impeccable.
25:07I love my transformation because for me, make a dress for another dress is expected.
25:15But to make it for a bridesmaid, a motorcycle pants is unexpected.
25:23And it's my style.
25:32She looks really good.
25:34Good job.
25:36I'm really happy.
25:37Christina looks like a high fashion model and she's walking like she is one.
25:41So she's very confident.
25:42I can tell.
25:45Oh my gosh.
25:46She's so fierce.
25:50She's really loving the dress.
25:55If I call your name, please step forward.
25:58April.
25:59Ivy.
26:00Andy.
26:02Gretchen.
26:04Casanova.
26:06If I have called your name, congratulations.
26:10Your scores have qualified you to move on to the next challenge.
26:14You can leave the runway.
26:21What do you think about Michael C?
26:23I could see some construction issues.
26:25He's kind of all over the place.
26:27You can't do a zipper, a swoop, lace, and satin.
26:31Come on.
26:33Michael C is probably in the bottom.
26:39The remaining designers have the highest and the lowest scores.
26:43One of you will be named the winner.
26:45And one of you will be out.
26:50One of you will be named the winner.
26:53And one of you will be out.
26:57Michael Drummond.
26:58Hi.
26:59Tell us about the dress that you had to work with and what you've made out of it.
27:03Well, it was just sort of this untailored nightmare.
27:06I wanted to make just like a cute cocktail dress.
27:09And then I got some chiffon and used that as like a tool skirt to just sort of dull down the color.
27:17And that's about it.
27:19Well, I actually think you went from bridesmaid to bat mitzvah.
27:21Okay.
27:23And I think the original color was actually great on you.
27:28It looked better before.
27:30A lot of people say that they really liked it, thought it was really cute.
27:33Did you get a lot of votes?
27:34No, I did not.
27:36That fabric is unfortunate.
27:38I mean, it looks like mosquito netting from here.
27:40I can kind of see that retro Mad Men idea that you were probably going for.
27:46But this definitely doesn't work.
27:48Christopher.
27:50Originally, this dress was very, very full.
27:53And she wanted something sexy.
27:55So I decided to kind of take the fabric and drape it in a way that made it look a little bit softer and tailored.
28:00I like what you did with the bias at the waist.
28:03For me, though, it feels kind of like we glued two dresses together.
28:07The top has this movement and the bottom doesn't.
28:10I think it looks good.
28:12It almost looks like a bridesmaid dress that's sort of been like ripped apart and deconstructed like you repurposed it.
28:19It's amazing and beautiful.
28:21It's perfect.
28:23Perfect on Ava.
28:24Well, Christopher, I think the top half does look good, but the bottom half is too short.
28:31I love it short, but hey.
28:33But also the silhouette that you gave her, I think that it does look sexy, but still very elegant.
28:40Peach.
28:42Erica came to me with a shiny, shiny, shiny green polyester faux satin.
28:49And I saw this amazing angel tattoo on her left shoulder.
28:53Let's see it. Let's see it. Let's see it.
28:54Oh, it's so beautiful.
28:55And decided to highlight it a little bit and show off her strong shoulders.
29:00I think her hair is gorgeous.
29:01Isn't it beautiful?
29:02Well, that's about all that I think looks gorgeous.
29:05At the top is the Holly Hobby halter.
29:09Oh, God.
29:10There's nothing sexy about it at all.
29:12I don't think that the avocado dinner napkins tucked in at her hips are doing anything for you.
29:17I mean, she's young and cool, and you're trying to make her look, I don't know, like she's at the church bring a pot dinner.
29:26Those hip pieces are crazy.
29:28Peplomaptic.
29:29I know, and that was because I felt I was really chopping her without it.
29:32Well, at least now she doesn't have a goiter.
29:35I mean, she's got an avocado goiter.
29:38Could you turn around?
29:39You're not wearing that with that ruffle.
29:41No way.
29:42I think it's fun.
29:43Did you see a three-way mirror?
29:45Yeah.
29:46Do you feel sexy in this?
29:47It's comfortable.
29:48I feel fine.
29:49So that means no.
29:50Comfortable is like saying something's washable.
29:52Like, oh, I love my dress.
29:53It's washable.
29:55The color is just so boring.
29:57And then the whole design of it, it just looks weird and old.
30:02Okay.
30:03Amanda.
30:04I thought Amanda should have something that she could wear to parties, but also she can dress down with like a legging and a flat.
30:11And I just wanted to keep it sleek and smart, classy, and a little sassy.
30:16I like the asymmetry.
30:17I like, yes, it looks streamlined.
30:19It looks modern.
30:20It's a very good transformation.
30:21Yes, very good transformation.
30:22I have to tell you.
30:24I like the dress.
30:25I think you did a good job.
30:27There's nothing prissier than a bridesmaid's dress, and you made it sleek and cool.
30:34I do think her hair looks like the bridesmaid's dress from before, but I think the dress looks really tough and cool, which I like.
30:43Well, I love the pink strip at her shoulder.
30:46It's feminine and tough at the same time.
30:49She's a hot girl.
30:51I mean, so it's a hot dress on a hot girl.
30:54I think you were very smart in the transformation here.
30:56All right.
30:58Valerie.
30:59Well, this is Lena.
31:00A lot of us shied away from the Jolly Rancher dress because it's really like neon pink.
31:05I decided to do color blocking just so that it could kind of get the illusion of bringing her in.
31:12Color blocking can do great things for your body.
31:16The way this is color blocked, it's like you turned her into like nursing grandmother dress.
31:23I mean, it's literally like when you see a maternity bra.
31:27It's terrible.
31:29It's really unfortunate what you're doing to a young, good looking woman.
31:34You've made her look shorter and broader than she is.
31:37And if I were going to dinner with my husband, I don't really know what restaurant I would
31:41go to with this kind of look.
31:44Michael Castello, tell us about what you designed.
31:47Well, when I saw my client Brooke, she's like, here's this, chop it, make it short.
31:53I want a sexy short black dress.
31:55And I was like, okay.
31:56I remember you from the runway.
31:57You had this awful bridesmaid's dress on.
32:00It was so old fashioned.
32:01You made something that is really edgy and really hip.
32:04And it's hard, but still sexy and feminine.
32:07And because you made it so super short.
32:09She wanted it shorter.
32:10But it's great that you then gave her the lace on top.
32:14So it's not boobs are out, legs are out, everything is out.
32:18You took a very kind of bland, old fashioned bridesmaid's dress.
32:23And you gave her a cocktail dress that in fact looks very expensive.
32:29It's interesting in the way that it's cut.
32:32I like the draping on the lace.
32:34And I think your styling is spot on.
32:38The shoe is miserably uncomfortable, but they look great.
32:41That doesn't matter.
32:42This is the shortest dress that we're looking at today.
32:46But that proportion is right on her body.
32:51Can you turn around?
32:52I love the mix of the lace, the satin, and the detail of that velvet bow.
32:59Very, very beautifully done.
33:03Okay.
33:04We've heard what you had to say, but I have a little chat.
33:06And then I call you back on the runway.
33:08Thank you very much.
33:09You can leave the runway.
33:16They had some awful fabrics to work with.
33:18For example, Michael had an awful dress.
33:21It was hideous.
33:22And he made a super modern, chic, sexy dress.
33:26That was a phenomenal transformation.
33:28Yeah.
33:29And you know what I love too?
33:30Last week, all the other designers threw Michael under the bus.
33:35Oh, they all said he didn't have to sew.
33:37Yes, they were so mean.
33:38He can't sew.
33:39Who made that dress?
33:40I know.
33:41This dress was beautifully done.
33:43Yeah, and very constructed, and yet it looked so simple and easy.
33:48And it was all working.
33:49That dress had this perfect balance.
33:52The sleeve and the higher neckline balanced the shorter hemline.
33:56You had some drapery with the architectural element.
33:59He got it.
34:02Okay, let's talk about Christopher.
34:04I did like the bustier in the one shoulder.
34:07I thought that she looked really nice.
34:09I think the idea was good.
34:12The attempt was good.
34:14He handled the top so beautifully.
34:16And that's not easy, I have to say.
34:18To make that faux organza drape like that,
34:22that was effortless.
34:24It looked great.
34:27Alrighty, let's talk about Mondo.
34:29The transformation between that pink pepto-bismol
34:32to this kind of modern, that was great.
34:36And he made a modern, hot dress.
34:39But the hair and the makeup was the Jersey Shore.
34:43Snooki and the Flintstones.
34:45But it wasn't vulgar.
34:46No, it wasn't.
34:47There was nothing vulgar about that dress.
34:48He sent out something that was impeccable,
34:50and he did it well.
34:51And it's hard to tailor 100% polyester
34:55to make it smooth like that and fit like that.
34:58Perfect seams.
34:59Perfect hem.
35:00All good.
35:01Let's talk about the designers that we didn't like.
35:07Valerie.
35:08All I can tell you is the dress looked kind of like
35:10a really bad tennis dress gone wrong.
35:13Put a pair of sneakers and give her a tennis racket
35:16and she's sick.
35:17Perfect.
35:18The proportions crazy.
35:19And then let me make my chest look lower and bigger.
35:24Michael Drummond, his model, Jacqueline,
35:28she looked so much better before.
35:30What did he do to her is unbelievable.
35:32That mosquito netting was awful choice
35:35because it made it look cheap.
35:37They're starting off with really, you know, terrible fabrics.
35:40So if you have the opportunity to add something,
35:43you want to add the best.
35:44He added kind of the exact same thing,
35:47if not worse than the fabric
35:49that he already was starting off with.
35:52I look at what Peach did.
35:54Everything except for the hair was a disaster.
35:58It looks home sewn.
35:59Totally over, over, over designed.
36:02There's so many things going on.
36:04She's kind of a secretary from 1987 on the bottom.
36:09Then she had the straps from the bra that she did.
36:12Then it had the ruffles down the bottom
36:15and another set of ruffles down the bottom.
36:17I mean, that ruffles here top was hideous.
36:20The one thing about her work,
36:22she has the sewing and the tailoring skills.
36:25It's the taste level that I'm worried about.
36:27So we've made our decision.
36:30All right, let's bring them back out.
36:34The six of you have the highest and the lowest scores.
36:45One of you will be named the winner,
36:47and one of you will be out.
36:49Michael Costello, we loved your look.
37:04You created a sexy, sophisticated, expensive-looking outfit
37:09that could turn heads.
37:11It was well-made and flattered your model.
37:14Mondo, you were popular with the public and with us too.
37:18You started with an ugly and tasteless bridesmaid's dress
37:22and ended up with a polished and flattering garment.
37:26Michael Costello, congratulations.
37:33You're the winner of this challenge.
37:35Yes.
37:37Awesome.
37:42That's great.
37:45That also means that you have immunity for the next challenge.
37:48You can leave the runway.
37:50You're going to make me cry.
37:53Thank you so much.
37:59I won this challenge.
38:00I can literally go home right now and celebrate.
38:04I don't want to win no more.
38:05This is fine.
38:07I won.
38:08Of course you did.
38:09Two challenges.
38:10Thank you, Jesus.
38:12I don't think Michael C deserved to win.
38:15I'm shocked.
38:17Mondo, you're in.
38:19You can leave the runway.
38:20Thanks.
38:24Christopher.
38:25Yes.
38:26You're in.
38:27You can leave the runway.
38:33Valerie.
38:34You're in.
38:35You can leave the runway.
38:36Thank you very much.
38:37Appreciate your confidence.
38:42Peach.
38:43Michael.
38:44One of you will be out.
38:46Both of you made your bridesmaid's dresses look worse.
38:50Which we didn't think was possible.
38:52Peach.
38:53Your proportions were completely off.
38:55Plus, those green ruffles added insult to injury.
39:02Michael.
39:03Your look was not in the least bit flattering of your model.
39:07You made an ugly dress.
39:08You made an ugly dress.
39:09Uglier.
39:10Michael.
39:19You're in.
39:20You can leave the runway.
39:22Go ahead.
39:23Go make something pretty.
39:24I'm sorry, Peach.
39:25That means you're out.
39:27I've had the time of my life.
39:40Thank you so much.
39:41I've had a blast.
39:47I've learned all kinds of things.
39:49I've met some really unbelievable people.
39:51Hi.
39:52Hi.
39:53I've had the time of my life.
39:55It's absolutely the way it should be.
39:57I mean, what a trip.
39:58Peach, you've made it a blast.
39:59Yeah.
40:00You've made it a blast for us.
40:01Who's going to be the fairy drag mother?
40:03Nobody.
40:04Peach.
40:05Kim.
40:06What are we going to do without you?
40:07I don't know.
40:08I don't know either.
40:09I've had a ball.
40:11We've had a ball with you.
40:13And now I know how to say,
40:14you have more legs than a bucket of chicken.
40:18Really.
40:19You're a gem.
40:20And we're going to miss you a lot.
40:22I'm going to miss my peeps here and miss you guys.
40:24But I cannot be more grateful than I am for this opportunity.
40:29I was like 22 for six episodes.
40:32Well.
40:34I have to send you the work room to clean up your space.
40:36I'm happy to go to the work room.
40:37You'll do it joyously.
40:38I absolutely will.
40:39I know you will.
40:40Maybe with a little panache.
40:41I love you.
40:42I think I surprised a lot of people that I wasn't the one who was tired.
40:45I wasn't the one who was complaining about being up early or working long hours.
40:49I was right in there running up and down the stairs all the time with the kids.
40:53Be beautiful.
40:54Thanks.
40:55My husband and my daughter, they're going to be proud of me.
40:57Absolutely.
40:58No doubt about it.
40:59Next time on Project Runway.
41:00Your challenge is to create a resort wear look to get you guys into a relaxed state of mind.
41:11I'm sending you out on a boat ride.
41:13This is fabulous.
41:14Each of you will be wearing two hats.
41:16I can just feel her crazy energy.
41:19If we can just finish.
41:20A lot of the people in the room don't really like me.
41:23Your construction is awful.
41:25I am pissed.
41:26Why can't the judges see value in what I do?
41:29You still threw him under the bus.
41:32There is nothing cool about this outfit.
41:34Is that not throwing him under the bus?
41:59I'm not.
42:00I'm not.
42:01I'm not.
42:02I'm not.
42:03I'm not.
42:04I'm not.
42:05I'm not.
42:06I'm not.
42:07I'm not.
42:08I'm not.
42:09I'm not.
42:10I'm not.
42:11I'm not.
42:12I'm not.
42:13I'm not.
42:14I'm not.
42:15I'm not.
42:16I'm not.
42:17I'm not.
42:18I'm not.
42:19I'm not.
42:20I'm not.
42:21I'm not.
42:22I'm not.
42:23I'm not.
42:24I'm not.
42:25I'm not.
42:26I'm not.
42:27I'm not.
42:28I'm not.
