00:01Previously on Project Runway...
00:04For this challenge, you will select a film genre
00:07and invent a character who lives in that genre.
00:10I have to do Western.
00:11We don't even have a cowboy hat.
00:13Tell me your story.
00:14There's three sort of queens,
00:15and one of them wants to rule the whole universe.
00:17Is that your girl?
00:18Yeah, that's mine.
00:19Of course.
00:20Well, I don't think this is gonna work out.
00:22This is looking very Kermit the Frog gone wrong.
00:30Nicholas, you are the winner of this challenge.
00:33I'm here to win this competition,
00:35and nothing's gonna stop me.
00:37Roman, it's just a hot green mess.
00:39You're out.
00:41This is Project Runway.
00:43Of course I'm the best.
00:44Let's do this.
00:45The search for the next big fashion designer.
00:48I have to win.
00:49You better watch out.
00:5016 designers.
00:52Ivan, you're out.
00:53Don't get cut.
00:54Three finalists will make it to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
00:58I'm the best designer here.
00:59I have no fear.
01:00Make it work.
01:01That's my one.
01:02But only one can be the winner.
01:05This is my dream.
01:06For these 16 designers,
01:07Project Runway is a chance of a lifetime.
01:11The winner of Project Runway will receive a fashion spread
01:14in Marie Claire magazine,
01:16a Paris vacation courtesy of Avion,
01:18and $100,000 from L'Oreal Paris to start their own line.
01:23It's going to be so weird not to have Ramon here.
01:27But at this point, it's gonna be weird when anybody leaves.
01:29Yeah, it really is.
01:30Every one of us deserves to be here.
01:32It really is like the Olympic Games.
01:34They are all perfect athletes,
01:36but it's like one comes two seconds or one second before the other.
01:40Ramon is coming.
01:41Yeah, and we have a new roommate.
01:42Welcome, Logan.
01:43Welcome, Logan.
01:44Still unpacking it.
01:45With Ramon leaving, I have to move into another room with Epperson, Christopher, and Nicholas.
01:46I don't really know their normal procedures in the morning or whatever, so it's interesting.
01:47I take long showers.
01:48I'm a cuddler.
01:49I truly did not want to go home.
01:50Well, I'm glad you're still here.
01:51In the last challenge, I was in the bottom three.
01:52I'm definitely going to try to go home.
01:53I have a new roommate.
01:54I have a new roommate.
01:55Welcome, Logan.
01:56Welcome, Logan.
01:57Welcome, Logan.
01:58Still unpacking it.
01:59With Ramon leaving, I have to move into another room with Epperson, Christopher, and Nicholas.
02:01I don't really know their normal procedures in the morning or whatever, so it's interesting.
02:04I take long showers.
02:05I'm a cuddler.
02:06I truly did not want to go home.
02:10Well, I'm glad you're still here.
02:12In the last challenge, I was in the bottom three.
02:15I'm definitely going to try to go a little more over the top with my designs because
02:19I certainly don't want to have another snooze fest.
02:22Oh, my God.
02:23This is it.
02:24The four boys.
02:25This is it.
02:26So we have to make a pat.
02:27Yes.
02:28We've got to get rid of some of the girls.
02:29Shirin, you're out.
02:43Hello.
02:44Hi.
02:45Hi.
02:46Nicholas, you won the last challenge.
02:48So you have immunity this week and you cannot be eliminated.
02:51That feels good, no?
02:53Yes.
02:54You are probably wondering what we have in store for you this week, right?
02:59All I can tell you is that your next challenge will be quite colorful.
03:03I don't know what it's going to be.
03:06We could be making garments out of big colorful parachutes for all I know.
03:09Tim is waiting for you in the work room to tell you all about it.
03:12Good luck.
03:13And I see you on the runway.
03:15Bye.
03:16Bye.
03:17Designers, I'm delighted to introduce Martine Reardon, Macy's Executive Vice President of Corporate Marketing.
03:27Martine's going to tell you about your challenge.
03:29Hello, designers.
03:30Your challenge is all around color, and it is the color blue.
03:34The great thing about the color blue is it's got the very soft romantic hues, and it goes
03:39all the way to the very electric kind of blues.
03:42Ink is all about fashion, and the best thing about this brand is that it's only available
03:47at Macy's.
03:48So your challenge is to create two looks that are blue and that are very consistent with
03:54the ink brand.
03:55The winner of this challenge will be commissioned by Macy's and Ink to design a holiday dress
04:01that will be sold in select Macy's stores and on macys.com.
04:05So good luck to all of you.
04:09You get to have a garment in a mainstream store, and that's what we all want.
04:16And we all want to say, I made that to that girl walking down the street.
04:19For this challenge, you will be working in teams of two.
04:22It's a one-day challenge.
04:24As soon as they say it's a team challenge, I'm thinking wah, wah, wah.
04:29There is a Macy's dossier for each of you at your work table.
04:32You will have 15 minutes to sketch, and each of the 10 of you will be pitching your ideas
04:38to Martine, who in turn will choose five of you to be team leaders.
04:42And those five team leaders will then choose their teammate.
04:45So your 15 minutes to sketch starts right now, okay?
04:51This is huge.
04:52If I win this challenge, I'll get to design a holiday dress for Macy's.
04:56This is the best challenge any designer could ever, ever hope for.
05:00I think that this challenge is really interesting because you want to give a little of yourself,
05:05but you have to look at what's happening already in the line.
05:08I think one of the advantages I have in this challenge is that I'm really down-to-earth about fashion.
05:14I can relate to the Macy's shopper. I can see what they're looking for.
05:18I'm surprised at how very simple a lot of the clothing is.
05:21So I'm not really going to be able to go too crazy with this challenge like I had planned on.
05:25Designers, your sketching time is up, and the first person to pitch is Althea.
05:33I actually enjoy pitching ideas. I feel really confident about my work, so I like turning that on.
05:39The first one here is denim wide-leg high-waisted pants.
05:43The second look, I wanted to do sort of like a suiting look, something she can wear to work, but manipulate to going out.
05:49Great.
05:50I wanted to do one look that was a little bit more dressy, day to night, and then one look that was a little more casual.
05:55But my goal is for each of these pieces to work into the woman's wardrobe that she currently already has.
06:01I'm thinking more of doing some sort of sweater dress.
06:04I wanted to do like a sweater dress.
06:07This piece right here, this is a cape.
06:08I definitely want to do like a vest, possibly made out of leather.
06:11This piece can go from the workplace to happy hour, and it's a play on a men's shirt.
06:16Wow, that's exciting.
06:17This would be like a simple cotton dress with kind of a tuxedo ruffle effect.
06:22And then this one would have applique rosettes all along the neckline and down the front.
06:27Very pretty.
06:28First of all, I'm a very big costumor of ink.
06:30Oh, good.
06:31I created a little bit inspired 70s look.
06:35I really wanted to do this patchwork, maybe, of sorts.
06:38Very nice.
06:39For the second look, I wanted to do something that, you know, maybe she could wear to work.
06:43That's great.
06:44Good luck to you.
06:45Thanks.
06:46I'm looking forward to it.
06:47You know, it was one of those weird job interviews where you don't know if they're going to call
06:51or not because they just smiled and nodded.
06:54Designers, Martine has made her decisions.
06:56Who are our team leaders?
06:58Irina is our first one.
07:00Congratulations.
07:01Congratulations.
07:02Congratulations.
07:03Althea.
07:04For every team challenge I've had, I've been a team leader.
07:08So I've been loving it because it's, you know, my ideas and I'm kind of like the boss and I've got like a helper.
07:14So it kind of works out well for me.
07:16Carol Hannah is our third choice.
07:19Wow.
07:20Christopher.
07:22Congratulations.
07:23And Louise.
07:24Wow.
07:25Congratulations to our team leaders.
07:30So the first team leader to choose is...
07:33Althea.
07:34Oh.
07:35Logan, do you want to work with me, I guess?
07:38Please say yes.
07:39I don't know if I have a choice.
07:42Christopher.
07:43I would be honored to work with Epperson.
07:45Thanks.
07:46Louise.
07:47Nicholas.
07:48It doesn't matter.
07:50Nicholas.
07:51It doesn't worry me that Nicholas has immunity.
07:55My two designs are so strong that I'm very confident that we will be in the top.
08:00Irina.
08:01Oh, wow.
08:02Who wants to work with me?
08:07How about that?
08:08I'll let you guys decide.
08:09I like working with you.
08:10All right, Jordana.
08:11Let's go.
08:13I mean, I don't really care.
08:14You know, it's a team challenge.
08:16I only care who's going to get the work done.
08:18Well, this makes it easy.
08:19All right, designers.
08:20We're going to head off to Mood with a $100 budget per team.
08:22I'm going to say one thing before we go.
08:23Owing to how huge this win is, there will be no immunity for this challenge.
08:24Wow.
08:25So you ready to go to Mood?
08:26Yes.
08:27Well, let's head out.
08:28All right, teams.
08:29You have 20 minutes.
08:30Go, go, go.
08:31They're off.
08:32Sort of.
08:33What about this one?
08:34How do you feel about these two going together?
08:35I like it.
08:36Okay, so this is this dress.
08:37For the last couple of challenges, she was told that she's very basic.
08:40What are you making the flowers out of?
08:41Do you want to do it out of crepe chiffon?
08:42I mean, I'm trying to figure out like what kind of fabric we can use to make them a little
08:47bit more luxurious.
08:48Denim!
08:49Where's the denim?
08:50We're trying to find lighter, washed, stretched denim, which they don't have.
08:51Eventually, we just grab a lot of colors, throw them on the table, and just buy way more
08:55fabric than we need.
08:56We'll figure it out later.
08:57Take it.
08:58Take it.
08:59Take it.
09:00Take it.
09:01Take it.
09:02Take it.
09:03Take it.
09:04Take it.
09:05This is fun.
09:06How do you feel about these two going together?
09:07I like it.
09:08Okay, so this is this dress.
09:09For the last couple of challenges, she was told that she's very basic.
09:11What are you making the flowers out of?
09:12Do you want to do it out of crepe chiffon?
09:13I mean, I'm trying to figure out like what kind of fabric we can use to make them a little bit
09:16more luxurious.
09:17Denim!
09:18Where's the denim?
09:19This is crazy.
09:20Being in a mood with a partner is definitely a lot more challenging than being in a mood
09:25trying to shop by yourself.
09:26You have like this train of thought, and you're trying to figure it out.
09:29Then she kind of runs over, oh, how about this?
09:31She tells me, you're stressing me out.
09:33I'm not stressed.
09:34I'm just thinking of things that we shouldn't forget.
09:38Little sweetie.
09:39Glassing zipper.
09:40That's tranquil.
09:41Everyone, one minute.
09:44Need a cutter.
09:45To it, Carolina.
09:46All right, everybody.
09:48Go, go, go.
09:49That's it.
09:50Time's up.
09:51Do you have the money, the envelope?
09:54Oh, my God.
09:55Did I leave it on a table?
09:57Oh, God.
09:58When I get pressured or rushed into something, it tends to like blow my brains.
10:03Well, I was mostly over here.
10:04A little freaked out.
10:05I just started retracing my steps and trying to figure out where all I had been.
10:10Oh, here it is.
10:11Good Lord.
10:12I even forgot my drawing.
10:13Yes.
10:14It's Project Runway first.
10:15All right, everybody.
10:16Let's go back to the work room.
10:18Thank you, Mood.
10:19Coming up on Project Runway.
10:20Oh, Justine came over.
10:21The look Jordana's working on is a disaster.
10:22This is going to have ruffles on it.
10:23I hate ruffles.
10:24I hate ruffles.
10:25Ruffles make me sick.
10:26I hate this part of the night where you, like, freak out.
10:27Oh, man.
10:28The new challenge is for us to create two looks for ink, a clothing line.
10:31Every piece has to be in blue.
10:34Oh, I had to start letting
10:46findated away from the carpet.
10:48ink a clothing line every piece has to be in blue it's so hard for me to work
10:55with like the colors is bright so we're making a high-waisted pencil skirt and a
11:00chiffon ruffle blouse and then we're making kind of like a sweater dress
11:04with some cute leggings and a leather belt I don't know I wouldn't have
11:09designed it but I'll help her make it all right so I'm thinking like low back
11:14whatever you want to do I'm really excited about being a team captain but
11:18now I have to delegate to someone else and that's not something I'm used to I
11:22never had anybody work for me he's still messing with I just don't know what I
11:28want here yet it's the weird thing about group challenges people start paying
11:33attention to how you work about this long or do you want it all the way down all
11:38the way down but this is going to be straight okay do the sides and I'll show
11:42you the front team challenges are a pain in the neck just because I don't know
11:47you I feel like I have to do what my portion of the work and sort of look
11:50over the other person's shoulder it's just so much work I'd rather just do it
11:54myself Nicholas is working on the dark navy blue dress with the ruffles down the
11:59front one of the things that I hate the most is ruffles and a lot of the
12:02designers when they get stumped put more ruffles on the dress so I'm kind of
12:07nervous for her now I was really worried when I saw her designs I was like oh god
12:12not another one this whole project is totally totally different from the other
12:18situation but it's amazing because here I am working with designing and I totally
12:25respect I totally get you the last team challenge with crystal we had no
12:30direction so I had to make it work we have to understand each other we can't make a
12:35mistake we have to we have to understand each other this time I don't
12:41have to make it work I just have to make the garment I'm happy to work with you I
12:44really like I said I wanted to rock it absolutely absolutely Everson and I have
12:50a great way of communicating we're able to consult with each other back and forth
12:55he's adding elements that he would put in his designs and it's gonna be better now
13:01he talked about putting pockets in the in the shirt dress I love the idea I'm so
13:06glad that you give your kind of take on it because it's it's us right on I'm
13:11gonna start cutting out these shapes and then we can both place them on there just
13:15so you can kind of see which way you want to go generally working with Louise is
13:19pretty good she's very nice she's calm she makes really fabulous little noises
13:24when she works I don't know it's just something that kind of relieves stress
13:31and helps me to focus we had like 25 pets oh wow so there was always like
13:40animal noises all the time that's a lot we did bird noises before you even talked
13:44color where you want to lie in the pockets maybe keep it on the family I like working
13:54with Logan he is really kind of chill I thought I was supposed to be just like a robot you're my
13:59seamstress oh I prefer a seamstress sorry Logan is full of surprises he's a good-looking guy he's
14:08nice guy we all think he's hot the boys like him as well so many people here have such big personalities
14:16it's kind of nicely like get away from all the drama we really have to like do something else to that top
14:22I feel like it's too fine but the sleeve is going to give it yeah still she doesn't give me any
14:30direction she just says I don't like it so of course I'm like stressing out I just really hate
14:40the idea of just like a blue dress you just feel like you're a walking color so I decided to do a
14:45patchwork of stripes hi everybody hey Tim I'm here to check up on your progress and I'm
14:52going to start with team Carol Hannah also known as team awesome we shall see so this is look one
15:00that one has leggings I made like I know never mind don't get me on leggings what's that we are kind
15:07of both not liking this color that much do you have other options we have this color this is stunning
15:14I mean I would say you're 80 percent there but you've got the potential here to knock people's socks off
15:19yay knock their leggings off knock those leggings off exactly thank you work work work all right
15:27Louise hi Tim talk to me about what you're doing this is a fitted look that Koji will be wearing the
15:35one comment I will make is this ice blue charmeuse in relation to this matte fabric it's so abruptly
15:44different I had like this inkling of going with something a little darker and then I didn't want
15:50to get like lost I'm with you down the runway doing that to me every time I know but are you happy with
15:56this so far I'm excited by the potential that I see and I trust that you'll see anything that goes awry
16:03and fix it oh yeah carry on both of you thank you very much thank you very much so talk to me for
16:12this look we're going to do a simple skirt that is neither short nor long that's a good skirt yeah
16:18well I love about this is that you're taking a suit and you're making it modern and you're not holding
16:26on to those stereotypes that we associate with women in suits all right thank you both thank you
16:31very much Irina Jordana talk to me about this we really want to do sort of a romantic top and is this
16:40a waistband how does this work it's I I was thinking we can just attach it to the blouse I'd
16:46actually like to keep it separate yeah does she tie it yes I don't know if I would tie it I would
16:51maybe just have a little way of closing it really I don't know all right you two have a lot to discuss
16:58and to work out yeah thank you thank you thank you Tim Christopher hey Tim Epperson yes talk to me
17:06well it was the first look and it's really based on a men's shirt it's a shirt dress yeah exactly and I
17:13love a shirt dress and Epperson found this fantastic shimmer in a stripe mm-hmm I guess my conundrum is
17:20the textiles I just don't get them together yeah no that's what we're dealing with right now but I
17:26will tell you you really have potential here for a serious reinvention and that's very exciting all
17:33right work work work we're working good we reinvented we reinvented the shirt dress that's pretty pretty
17:43cool designers I just have to tell you there are ten of you remaining and I believe in all of you and I
17:48don't want anyone to go home but it's Project Runway musical chairs someone is so I am going to send
17:54you to the girls they're here for a fitting oh my god I hear them here they come
18:00is the theme blue I love it wow it's really tight it's like a glove when we finally get to put it on the model we put the skirt on
18:14Ebony first and it's actually kind of tight we can let it out a little no it looks good though it looks really good
18:20look at my booty she's walking around like I like it it's perfect and me and Geralt are like no it's too tight
18:26Katie's looking okay in my dress however the look Jordana's working on is sort of a disaster
18:32and we're just thinking by now that outfit should have been close to completion and it still has
18:40like kinks everywhere finish the top today because the skirts quick I'm still not happy with the way
18:47the dresses look they're both very unfinished I'm going to just start altering this okay so okay I'm
18:53just gonna go ahead and plow through this dress I'm not a really good judge of time unfortunately that
18:58always comes back to bite me in the butt I'm gonna have to stuff her breasts in here because she
19:10obviously doesn't fit the mannequin well this is gonna have ruffles on it so it's not gonna be so
19:15noticeable but I hate ruffles I've said it before and I'll say it again I believe that ruffles were
19:22created to hide flaws ruffles make me sick that should be enough let's yeah Epperson and I come
19:31up with a couple solutions to tie the two pieces together we have some details that we have to
19:35finish up in the morning but right now I think we'll we'll sleep easy I hate this part of the night
19:40where you like freak out every single challenge about halfway through I have a mini breakdown and freak
19:51out in my head like this fashion Olympics that we're in right now we're going through this
19:57extremely stressful emotional time and trying to do our best and trying to keep it together and trying
20:04to stay awake Sharon and Carol Hana their stuff looks like it was just bought in like a discount store it's
20:12very like $10 shirt on sale for like $5.99 kind of thing I don't know what's gonna happen with that
20:18right about now Ramon will be starting over like I hate it another unitard
20:29coming up on project runway I don't know right now we're gonna have time to put the second ruffle on
20:42we're not going to be sending finished garments down the runway you know it's too I'm fine she told
20:48me oh I don't like it oh my god so much stress this challenge really tested a designer sort of
21:03flexibility to do different things other than what you're used to doing but I'm in a good position at
21:09this point so I'm not worried this morning I'm kind of feeling very tense about what I have to
21:18accomplish especially since Nicholas has immunity if we're in the bottom I'll most certainly be out
21:23I'm gonna try to help Louise as much as I can on the runway when she gets up in front of the judges
21:28she needs to know who the person that she's selling for and so I don't think she really has a clue
21:33just the way we left it I thought somebody could come in and finish it this morning I'm a little
21:53worried because we still have more work I think that we have solid pieces but I'm a little concerned
22:00that maybe the fit won't be perfect I'll be and I had a few more details to do we we still need to
22:06finish the main top for my look what the hell is wrong with this machine it does not like you we're
22:13doing pretty well on time so we're not really really stressing out like maybe some other people do you
22:19like it I like it and it's simple but it's elegant it's a day look you don't want to overdo it as I'm
22:25looking at all this blue I'm thinking it's so sad and depressing looking and I really need to sort of
22:30liven it up you don't think it's too like plain I don't think so Irina doesn't tell me can you use
22:36your own design or anything she just says I don't like it I didn't get any direction none whatsoever I was
22:44so frustrated I believe it good morning everybody good morning it's a big day team challenge so I'm
22:58about to send in your models you will have two hours to send them to the Garnier hair studio in
23:03the L'Oreal Paris makeup room please use the Macy's accessory wall it is our Macy's challenge and I want
23:09you to know that the wall has been stocked with shoes from the ink brand all right so it fits in
23:14nicely with what you're doing for this challenge all right all right I'm sending in your models thank
23:19you thank you I worked on like an Oxford shirt dress it was really it was a challenge it's something
23:33totally different from what I've done and it looked like a real shirt so I was just like wow pat and a
23:38big pat on my back
23:44big curls sort of like a fashion for a real woman
23:47sort of silverish bluish paint thank you very much designers and models in 10 minutes you and I are
24:04going to the runway all right 10 minutes everyone thank you I don't know right now if we're gonna have
24:10to have to put the second ruffle on definitely feeling the time crunch I'm not getting the
24:14appliques finished like I want them they're just kind of shredded and tattered and I'm a little
24:19worried we're not going to be sending finished garments down the runway Jordana could have been
24:24more proactive but the dress looks a lot better on the model than on the mannequin I have to say that I did
24:32save my ass with the top that I created because she could have completely like as they say thrown me on
24:38the bus designers and models this is it follow me please I think Epperson and I are the dream team
24:47as a team leader I know that my name is on the line more than his is but we're gonna we're gonna show the
24:54judges wearable pieces and I think we might take this one I'm very very lucky that I won the last
25:00community because we completely ran out of time designers and models gotta go go go that's it
25:10coming up on project runway one or more of you will be out did you really think they went together
25:16they don't honestly I don't know what is worse the pumping disco ball or the shower curtain 90.
25:21hello hi welcome to the runway as you know in fashion one day you're in and the next day you're out
25:37this week you worked in pairs to design two cohesive looks your designs must incorporate
25:42the color blue and match the style of the ink brand the winner of this challenge will be commissioned by
25:48macy's in ink to design a holiday dress to be sold in select macy's stores okay let's meet the judges
25:56top american designer michael kors hey guys senior fashion editor for mary claire zanna roberts hi guys
26:06an executive vice president for macy's corporate marketing martin weirdin hi everyone welcome
26:12one of you will be named the winner and one or more will be out let's start the show
26:23so katie's coming down the runway and i think she looks so adorable and flirty and elegant in the dress
26:30i was completely content and happy with it and i think she did a great job you know sort of showing it
26:37so i i feel good the most importance to me in this competition is that i send down the runway something
26:45i believe in i am very confident and i'm very happy with the outcome
26:54terek comes out first and as she comes walking across the stage the skirt just keeps getting higher
26:59and higher and higher at that point there's nothing you can do but kind of just laugh about it
27:04the two looks i think they look great together i think they are saying something they're both
27:09they're everything's wearable and we definitely wanted to work on making sure that the jacket could
27:14go with the jeans you could switch the tops so i i hope that that's recognized
27:23there are a lot of really simple pieces in the room and i'm hoping that maybe because i went
27:28the opposite direction and went a little too crazy with some of the stuff that maybe some of the more
27:33simple designs will will be too boring and they'll be the ones that'll be in the bottom
27:39as our garments go down the runway i'm not happy at all with the dress that louise made that ruffle
27:44thing just looks weird and strange and i just really wish that louise really knew what she wanted
27:53i definitely think that sharon and i's looks could be sold in macy's that's one of my strengths is that my
28:00work is sellable it's marketable i'm really confident when our stuff walks down the runway
28:08we both did it together and i like it and i think that we did a good job i think we'll be in the top
28:17tanisha is wearing the shirt dress and she's really working it you can see that she's going
28:21from the workplace to happy hour in a heartbeat i think it's going to be an ink product
28:28when you design something that can be mass produced you have to take yourself out of it
28:33and do what the majority of the people would want so i think we did well
28:42althea and logan please step forward congratulations your scores have qualified you
28:47to move on to the next challenge you can use the runway thank you the eight of you have the
28:56highest and the lowest scores one of you will be named the winner and one or more of you will be out
29:06louise and nicholas and christopher and epperson your teams have the lowest scores
29:12we're going to talk to the teams with the highest scores first and then i'm going to bring it back
29:19you can leave the runway thank you
29:30let's bring out your models
29:31all right i would like to talk to carol hannah and churin first carol hannah you were the team leader
29:45right so tell us a little bit about your designs this one is more of the day to night kind of work
29:52appropriate but also um can be kind of fun at night if you throw on some different shoes and accessories
29:59and then this one over here is more of our weekend going out more playful look i think she's done a
30:06very good job of um interpreting the ink brand i think the tunic is great and it could look great in
30:13a hundred colors it could be longer as a dress it's a beautiful neckline and it looks really doesn't look
30:20cheap this one had instant appeal i think it was very chic i like the attention to detail i think both
30:25tops look great so you know job well done overall thank you thank you all right irina and jordana
30:31tell us about your look and irina i think that you are the team leader we wanted sort of a very
30:37business day look almost and a weekend evening look and how was it working together it was a little bit
30:45of a challenge but i i'm i'm happy with what we came up with i think jordana you're a little bit um shy
30:53as a designer i thought you know i trusted you and i said you know take care of that and i felt like
30:58you should have taken that on and you know take care of it kind of thing so yeah but i wanted to
31:04please you no of course i understand but i you know you're a designer too just like i know and you're
31:09up here even though you're a team you're up here as individuals right yeah so next time okay i really
31:15really really love this dress i would totally wear that dress really yeah i think it's really really
31:21nice success i too love the dress love the top of the dress particularly i'm with you guys on this
31:29dress i think it's beautiful if i walked into macy's and saw it it would have standout appeal i do
31:34love this top too i love that it is sheer but then it is but then it's not you're the only people who gave
31:41us a pattern and you actually created the pattern right the blouse is a very pretty blouse thank you
31:48thank you we've heard what you had to say one of you will be the winner of this challenge you can leave
31:53the runway thank you let's bring out the designers with the lowest scores
32:00your teams have the lower scores one or more of you will be out louise and nicholas tell us about
32:18your look and louise you were the team captain i wanted to create two pieces that had some versatility
32:24this one could be worn you know as as day wear to the office and then go into evening this is more of
32:30like a cocktail or like party dress i thought you know i'd add something to spice it up a bit and
32:36that was ruffles who wears this today i like ruffles what can i say i like happen to like ruffles
32:48i think it's the way the ruffles were done they're very overstated if i walked into macy's and saw racks of
32:55this i would walk straight back out i mean i think i'd walked into a bad bridal shop i mean this truly
33:02looks like a bridesmaid's dress with a shower loofah ruched up the front of it i mean no modern girl
33:10wants to wear that dress i mean i i you wouldn't nicholas you're awfully quiet what are your thoughts
33:16ruffles were never my thing but i was here to help her create her vision so did you win the last
33:21challenge i did aren't you lucky because don't you have immunity for this week i do aren't you lucky
33:31epperson and christopher please tell us about your look i chose um kind of pretty simple silhouettes
33:38and um and made them kind of fresh and updated for the ink brand christopher you were the team leader i was
33:45i was looking at this and i was just blown away i just have no idea what modern girl of today would
33:52want to wear any of these outfits i'm troubled with what is this thing up here it's kind of like she was
34:00eating lobster and she put this in there and she forgot to take it out it's it's too much up here
34:07i look at the shirt dress which just literally looks like a librarian's shirt dress you know from
34:141979 the fabric has the shine i guess maybe you guys thought that was a little bit of a twist i actually
34:21think it just looks like a tablecloth then all of a sudden i swap over and i get to this kind of
34:28teal charmeuse disco pumpkin and you know i just think that you i don't know did you really think
34:40they went together they don't
34:46wait
34:50we had we both ran into the store and we both grabbed fabrics separately separately but then we
34:57came together i think this is a really good example of how hard it is to make a very successful
35:03commercial piece the fabric doesn't appeal to me that the shininess of the fabric if you're going to
35:08do a shirt dress it should be you know in a neutral or a white or a cream or black i i struggled with
35:15with that piece of it okay we've heard what you had to say we're going to have a little chat and i'm
35:21going to call you back and one of you will be out you can leave the runway
35:32okay let's talk about the ones that we didn't like let's talk about louise and nicholas i just
35:38couldn't understand these two ruffled dresses i don't think there was anything there that would
35:42attract your customer's eye at all i completely agree it's not reflected at all in these designs i
35:49wouldn't even say hard to wear i would say unwearable they got stuck in an idea and they
35:53just completely lost track of the customer and the store
35:59let's move on to christopher and epperson these two outfits have nothing to do with one another
36:06one is an unattractive kind of night shirt riff on americana and then the other is this kind of
36:14disco satin bubble dress that was not sexy it wasn't chic it wasn't fun it was so badly made
36:23honestly i don't know what is worse the pumpkin disco ball or the shower curtain 90.
36:30let's rather move on to the ones that we did like irena and jordana
36:34that was a really lovely dress i think that was pretty that striped dress was cut well it moved and
36:41it also if you were walking through a macy's floor it would stop you yes yes yes and really stand out
36:48in a sea of clothing and i think there was something there with the blouse the top was
36:53very dressy and romantic blue was a tough challenge all right let's move on to carol hannah and cheryn
37:00they've also done a nice job they did you know more pieces they did have instant appeal as soon as it
37:06walked out that's a chic little number you know the skirt with the blouse it was it was cute i think that
37:11they were pieces that women would really love to wear and would integrate into their wardrobes they
37:16would hang on the floor really well together and they would sell all right so we've made our decision
37:22yes okay let's bring them back out okay
37:37your teams had the highest and the lowest scores one of you will be named the winner
37:43and one or more of you will be out
37:54your teams had the highest and the lowest scores one of you will be named the winner and one or more of
38:01you will be named the winner and one or more of you will be out
38:08shiren you're in you can leave the runway thank you
38:22irena you are the winner of this challenge thank you
38:27congratulations thank you your looks especially the dress were really well done they were flirty
38:35feminine and had standout appeal for the ink customer also you are going to design a holiday
38:41dress for the ink line it will be sold in select macy stores across the country congratulations thank you
38:49you can leave the runway winning twice definitely feels good i mean it's it's a confirmation that i am going
38:57in the right direction i obviously want to be in brighton park i mean it feels amazing
39:04jordana kalahana good job you can leave the runway thank you very much
39:09christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ christ
39:39Louise, Christopher, one of both of you will be out.
39:50Louise, your two ruffled dresses were so far away from anything a woman of today would want to wear.
40:00They're like bad, overworked, bridesmaids' dresses.
40:04Not flattering, not well-made, and not sellable.
40:10Christopher, your two outfits had nothing in common with each other, except how clueless they both were.
40:21The outfit was badly made, terribly styled, and it is a stretch to think that any customer will want to buy them.
40:32Louise, you're out.
40:39Christopher, you're in.
40:56You can leave the runway, Christopher.
41:02Christopher, good game.
41:15Auf Wiedersehen.
41:18It's been fun, you guys.
41:19I'm just really, you know, honored to have been part of all of this.
41:26I certainly made it a lot further than I had expected.
41:29I just sent you to the workroom to clean up your space, okay?
41:32Okay.
41:32I'm going to come away from this a better designer, and I'll work much more efficiently under pressure, I would imagine.
41:39This holiday season, Irina's dress will be sold in select Macy's stores and at Macy's.com slash Project Runway.
41:49Next week on Project Runway.
41:50I think it's time to hear about your next challenge.
41:52And I have a little surprise for you.
41:54New models.
41:55I've got a lot of work to do.
41:57People aren't going home for lack of talent, that's for sure.
41:59I mean, this looks very lab-coating today.
42:02It has to work.
42:03There's no excuses.
42:04What's the look?
42:05It is one of the most hideous things I've ever made.
42:07It looks like a bad Vegas outfit.
42:09I don't want to get kicked off.
42:11I just miss you guys so much.
42:14I thought I made myself very clear when I gave you guys a challenge.
42:17This, to me, is a tragedy.
42:18It looks like a garbage bag that you just singed in the ways.
42:21Well, it was double ugly.
42:25It looks like a garbage bag that you just sing.
42:55It looks like a garbage bag that you just sing.
