00:01Previously on Project Runway...
00:03Michael's going to present you with your next challenge.
00:05You know, one of the things that's so exciting to see
00:07is how are designers inspired?
00:09I'm definitely taking a risk here.
00:11I mean, his dress looks like an Amish woman would wear.
00:14You have this beautiful neck piece, but then there is no dress.
00:22Irina, you are the winner of this challenge.
00:24You gave us a majorly luxe look.
00:27Nicolas, you sadly missed the mark.
00:29I think you got the wrong grease.
00:31I think you got greased the movie with John Travolta
00:33and Olivia Newton-John.
00:34I'm sorry, Nicolas. That means you're out.
00:40This is Project Runway.
00:42Of course I'm the best.
00:43The search for the next big fashion designer.
00:45I have to win. I'm in, you're out.
00:48I'm the best designer here.
00:50I have no fear.
00:51Make it work.
00:52That's my one.
00:53This is my dream.
00:54For these 16 designers, Project Runway is the chance of a lifetime.
00:58The winner of Project Runway will receive a fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine,
01:03a Paris vacation courtesy of Avian,
01:06and $100,000 from L'Oreal Paris to start their own line.
01:10Six left.
01:19Two boys.
01:20How did that happen?
01:21I don't know.
01:22At this point in the competition, there's six of us left, so I really feel like it's time for all of us to step outside of our comfort zone.
01:29I've really put out pieces that I like.
01:31Yup.
01:32But I've got to get the judges to get it.
01:34During this whole process, you know, I've been all over the place.
01:38Congratulations, congratulations, great work, good work, fantastic, stunning.
01:42Now, sucky, we hate it.
01:45We hate you.
01:46You're fat.
01:48Even though Bryant Park is just a couple challenges away, it still feels like it's the moon.
01:56I kind of like that there's so many more girls and boys there.
01:59It's nice because I feel like the fashion business is so dominated by men.
02:03Yeah.
02:04And that sucks because I think women have a very valid point, especially when it comes to dressing women.
02:10Themselves, yeah.
02:11You know?
02:12Right now, I feel like the strongest designers are myself, Irina, and Carol Hanna.
02:19I think that Logan and Christopher, they've shown repeatedly their, you know, can't be at the top of this competition.
02:26And I think Jordana as well.
02:28At this point, the judges know that we all can make clothes.
02:31Right.
02:32Now we have really to show our imagination as a designer.
02:36Yeah.
02:37I need to show the judges I can make more than dresses because pretty much all I've done here is dresses and that's my thing, so that's good.
02:45But it's kind of time to really do something for runway.
02:49Ready?
02:50Yeah.
02:51You guys sound like twins.
02:52That's a compliment.
02:53Aw.
02:54I want to get to work.
02:55Let's do it.
02:56We are doing something very unusual.
03:06Ugh.
03:07We are facing away from the runway, which we've never done before.
03:11You hear this rustling and you have no idea what's going on.
03:15Oh my God.
03:16It's one of the most horrifying moments.
03:20Hello.
03:21Hi.
03:22Designers, you can turn around.
03:23Hey Heidi.
03:24We turn around and our winning looks are on stage.
03:31And my first thought is, oh gosh, I hope we don't want to cut them up because I really don't want to.
03:37Well, as you can see here, you have proven your talent time and time again.
03:42And this is just a reminder of some of your best moments on the runway.
03:46What?
03:47Well, your challenge is to create a companion piece that complements and enhances your best look.
03:55Ugh.
03:57I hated sitting there and seeing all the other designers winning looks.
04:02Mine was the only one up there that wasn't a winning look, but I'm glad that the judges chose that piece for me to work with off the first challenge.
04:11This is a chance for me to really prove something.
04:14Tim is waiting for you in the workroom to fill you in on all the details.
04:17And I'm going to see you on the runway.
04:19Good luck.
04:21Bye.
04:22Bye.
04:23I definitely think this challenge is going to point out where the real talent is and where like the sort of lucky wins were.
04:31I just think there are a few people that are still here that should have gone home.
04:45Hello, designers.
04:48You have 30 minutes to sketch.
04:50Afterwards, we're going shopping at Mood where you will have a budget of $100.
04:54And you have until midnight tonight to complete your look.
04:59So get ready.
05:00It gets harder and harder.
05:02Your 30 minutes to sketch will start right now.
05:05Okay?
05:06Thank you, everyone.
05:08The challenge is to create a new look that is based on your best look.
05:14My first look has a paper bag waist and it's a shorter skirt.
05:17And I want to take that paper bag waist and put it on a pair of pants.
05:21And the jacket of the first look is a play off a man's jacket.
05:26And what I want to do with that is really make it big.
05:29I do really like to play with volume as a designer and I don't know if I've gotten to do that whole lot in this competition.
05:36I'm happy to be working with the Aspen look because you kind of have to do a second look that complements your first look.
05:43But it has to be completely different.
05:45So that's sort of how you build the collection.
05:49My winning look is the divorcee challenge.
05:54It's kind of like an edgy look and I'm imagining some kind of blazer, a top and a pants.
06:01But I'm still deciding on the pants part.
06:05This challenge, more than any of the others, we really have to take our own inspiration and take it to the next level.
06:12My winning look was a shorter dress.
06:15And I find that my strengths are actually gowns.
06:19And so I'm given the opportunity to create a long version of the original dress and do a different spin on it.
06:28All right, designers, your sketching time is up.
06:30Let's head off to mood.
06:31All right, everybody, you have $100 budget and you have 30 minutes to shop.
06:43For me, it all begins and ends right here.
06:46All right, so your 30 minutes begins now.
06:49Go, go, go.
06:51What do I need?
06:52My original concept for my design is taking some of the zippers that were in my previous garment and just multiplying that up.
07:01That, sir, is a zipper.
07:03I purchased 40 zippers.
07:05Wow.
07:06She's just going to have trims and bits and pieces all over her.
07:09The first thing in my head is to find the exact same metallic satin that I used for the top.
07:14But this thought occurs in my head.
07:17Change it up a little bit.
07:18This is pretty.
07:19Get this.
07:20I dig through and I find this silver version of the same material.
07:24So I decide to get 30 yards.
07:28I'm going to go big.
07:29I'm going to go huge.
07:30Three yards?
07:31Yes.
07:32So I'm at mood.
07:33I know exactly what I want to get.
07:34And then I spot this, like, really gorgeous fabric.
07:38Designers, you have 15 minutes remaining.
07:41So I decide to swap the skirt fabric.
07:4315 minutes, everybody.
07:44I'm actually going to do a dress instead.
07:46Yeah.
07:47That's fine.
07:48What kind of fabric?
07:49It doesn't really matter as long as it looks really rich.
07:52My winning look had a lot of feathers and a lot of sequins, and I decided to avoid both of those completely.
07:58I want to do something that connects to it, but isn't, like, here's another look made out of the same crap.
08:04I mean, we can't decide between a dress and, like, a separates combo.
08:07Let me ask you this.
08:08I'm more towards dresses, but...
08:09What will sustain you throughout the course of the day?
08:14I'm not really a pants person, but I haven't made anything else.
08:17Then do it.
08:18In order to take some risks and really be uber creative with this, you need to be in something of a comfort zone.
08:24Okay.
08:25And if you're out of your zone, it's not going to happen for you, I'm afraid.
08:28Okay.
08:29All right, does that help?
08:31That helps a lot.
08:32That helps a ton.
08:33Go, go, go.
08:34Five minutes.
08:36You have $6 to spend.
08:37Okay.
08:41One yard, please.
08:42Time's up.
08:43That's it.
08:44Okay.
08:45How much did you have left over?
08:46Like, pennies?
08:4750 cents.
08:48I told you guys, I'm good at spending money.
08:50Thank you, Mood.
08:51Thank you, Mood.
08:52My concept is still developing.
09:05You always do this.
09:06You always, like, know exactly what you're doing.
09:08You're just like, do, do, do, do, do, do, do.
09:09And I, like, lay things out and, like, do nothing for, like, an hour.
09:13I have too many ideas, so I'm kind of trying to wrap my brain around all these things and
09:18figure out exactly what I want to do.
09:22Coffee.
09:24Right now, I'm really working with a pattern of the fabric, placing it in a way that's,
09:29like, flattering to a woman's body.
09:32My first look is about a woman who's, like, an Aspen, and she's, you know, sipping a glass
09:37of champagne at the lodge.
09:38The second look is about work.
09:41Not to say it's, like, an office look, but it's definitely a bit more, sort of, clean
09:46and polished.
09:49Is that enough tape, do you think, or should I do more?
09:51I like it.
09:52Because it makes them, like, not just black pants.
09:54Yeah.
09:55My game plan is I want to get my pants in first.
09:58Yeah, because look at my sketches so much more.
10:00They're sort of the most tailored part of my look, and I really want these to be, you
10:05know, just perfect.
10:07They look like Melvin pants.
10:09I'm going to do a pair of jog first, like chicken thighs.
10:12Oh, Melvin.
10:13Don't tell me that.
10:15She's got, like, a leg.
10:16That's not bad.
10:17Yeah, we got illuminated on the pants.
10:18Oh.
10:19Don't tell me that.
10:20Don't be sensitive.
10:21No, you're going to give her a heart attack.
10:23Jeez.
10:25She's been so sensitive.
10:27I feel that there is a new energy, and there is a new tension a little bit now.
10:34We are so close to the top three that everybody is even more careful now.
10:39They don't want to really mess it up.
10:42Everybody is nervous because nobody wants to go home.
10:46Coming up on Project One Life.
10:53Right now, it looks like it's waiting for a diaper.
10:57I look over, and Logan's collar is, like, completely has a zipper thing.
11:02Now it's killing ideas.
11:03Oh, what a disaster.
11:05You're so pissed.
11:07Ugh.
11:08Figured it out yet?
11:09I'm working on it.
11:10Now more than ever, the pressure's on.
11:25One of us is going home, and it's not one out of 15, 14, 10.
11:30It's one out of six.
11:32Looking around the room, I've got five other designers that I'm competing against.
11:37But my chances to get to Bryant Park, I feel, are good just because I'm showing a different point of view.
11:43Just coming from Idaho, it's kind of a different thing, you know?
11:47I'll go out and work on my car and get my hands greasy and then start making a dress.
11:52So it's kind of this best of both worlds.
11:55Oh, being top six is unbelievable, especially with my humble starting.
12:00I'm from Bosnia, but I'm like a Bosnian Serb.
12:04My village is on the border between Serbia and Bosnia.
12:07My parents have no education.
12:09They're just farmers, and to be where I am today is just something unbelievable.
12:18I can't decide where things need to go.
12:20I feel like these fight each other.
12:22Depends on what you're trying to do, though.
12:25Right now, my look is in that weird stage right before you fully commit to what you're doing.
12:31You really just want to make it right.
12:33Too many options.
12:34But that's so hard when you're this close to Bryant Park.
12:37I'm going to commit.
12:39I think.
12:42This is an opportunity for the judges to see our true personalities.
12:47And I think when my garment walks down the runway, they're going to look at it and go, that's a Christopher piece.
12:56Christopher goes out and buys 30 yards of lining, which is kind of his signature for a lot of the challenges is just volume, volume, volume.
13:06How's your white mountain?
13:08Mountainous.
13:09I don't know if the judges are sick of it yet, but some of the fabrics that he buys just look cheap to me.
13:1630 yards.
13:18I don't know what he's doing.
13:24Hi, designers.
13:25Hi, Tim.
13:26I'm here to check in with you.
13:27Carol Hannah.
13:28Hello.
13:29How are you?
13:30That doesn't sound good.
13:32Talk to me.
13:33I feel like it's a big, scary mess.
13:34You're not going to get an argument from me.
13:36No.
13:37I hate to tell you.
13:38And there's a lot of crap on it right now because I'm just, like, sticking things on here.
13:43But I really like this fabric, and I think the color is really cool.
13:48What happens if this is under that?
13:50That's cool.
13:52It's beautiful.
13:53Now you have a fabulous textile happening.
13:55Yay.
13:56All right.
13:57You just had a major breakthrough with this.
13:59Okay.
14:00I'm going to make some magic.
14:01Make magic is right.
14:02All right.
14:05So, Irina.
14:06Oh, yeah.
14:07I'm good.
14:08Talk to me.
14:09I was going to do a skirt and a top.
14:11And then, as I was checking out, I found this fabric.
14:14It's like a tapestry almost.
14:16It is.
14:17So, I decided to do a really full, voluminous sweater to go with, like, a tiny sort of dress.
14:23Well, Irina, I will say this.
14:26It is completely unexpected.
14:28In a good way?
14:29Yeah.
14:30Yeah.
14:31Okay.
14:32But you need this cardigan.
14:34I do.
14:35I think it makes it younger and it makes it more playful.
14:38I agree.
14:39I'm very excited about where this can go.
14:42Thank you, Tim.
14:43Christopher.
14:44Tim.
14:45Talk to me.
14:46All right.
14:47This was my wedding look.
14:48It's fabulous still.
14:50And so, I'm trying to revisit that.
14:51Instead of just covering the whole piece in the texture, it's just going to be around
14:55the bottom here and kind of just a little couple pieces kind of coming up.
14:58Can I show you my thoughts?
15:00Yes, please.
15:01This is youthful, vibrant, sexy.
15:07Mm-hmm.
15:08For me, this looks like her mother.
15:10This doesn't go as well as planned.
15:13And in terms of those appliques, I think you have to rethink the positioning of them.
15:19You have a lot of work to do.
15:21I know.
15:22And not a lot of time.
15:23No.
15:24All right.
15:25Thank you, Tim.
15:26Thank you, Christopher.
15:27I appreciate it.
15:28Althea.
15:29Hey.
15:30How are you?
15:31I really am looking forward to my model fitting because I sort of have the pants together,
15:36but it's all about proportion on Tanisha.
15:39I'm concerned about the transition from the tight fit at the bottom to the volume up at
15:45the waistline because right now it looks like it's waiting for a diaper.
15:50I know.
15:51The pants are a bit scary right now, but I do have a ton of confidence in them.
15:54I have confidence in them, so.
15:55I have confidence in you.
15:56I have confidence in you, too.
15:57Yeah.
15:58Because the sketch is stunning.
15:59And if you can pull that off, I can see everybody wanting to have it.
16:02Yeah.
16:03All right, Althea.
16:04Move forward.
16:05Cool.
16:08Logan, I'm excited already.
16:09Talk to me.
16:10So my main inspiration off of this piece is just to kind of take the color palette and
16:14the zippers and just turn up the volume.
16:17That's what you're supposed to do.
16:19I think all the zippers for the collar just, I think they'll be a cool, like, glitz as
16:24soon as the lights hit it on the runway.
16:26So I look over and Logan's collar is, like, completely has a zipper thing, which is, like,
16:32the same collar that I did in the Christina Aguilera challenge.
16:35This is the heaviest collar known to me.
16:38I was a little annoyed, but I personally liked how I used it better anyway, so.
16:43All right, you still have a lot of work to do.
16:45There's a lot of refinement.
16:46Yeah.
16:47But this is definitely in the wow category.
16:50Thank you, Logan.
16:51Thank you, Tim.
16:52Jordana, talk to me.
16:53This is my inspiration.
16:54Mm-hmm.
16:55It's a little bit rock and roll.
16:58It's a little bit industrial.
16:59Mm-hmm.
17:00So how are you finishing the edges?
17:02I'm actually, I like the edges like this.
17:05You do?
17:06Yeah, I like it like that.
17:07I like to fit, you know, it's so feminine, and then I like the roughness of it.
17:11Well, then you have to just stand by that as being a major force in the whole direction of this design.
17:17What the ?
17:19How uncreative are you that you have to steal these people?
17:26I hate Logan.
17:29I don't know if I should say anything.
17:31Yeah, help.
17:32Yeah.
17:33I will.
17:34Let me see your looks more.
17:35I see you're inspired by my teeth.
17:36Mm-hmm.
17:38I want to get better right now.
17:40And I mean, I'm going to tell you, you're taking risks.
17:43I applaud that.
17:44So stand by it.
17:46All right.
17:47Thank you, Jordana.
17:48Thank you, Tim.
17:51Designers, I just want to tell you that I am tremendously excited about the potential that each of you is demonstrating.
17:58And I am very mindful of the fact that after tomorrow's runway show, there will only be five of you.
18:05So, you have until midnight tonight.
18:08Use your time exceedingly well.
18:12And I'm going to send in your models for a fitting right now.
18:16Hi.
18:17Hi.
18:18Thank you, baby.
18:19Where are you?
18:21Okay.
18:22You're so cute.
18:23What we're going to do first is get you fitted into this.
18:25Okay.
18:26All right.
18:27Get naked.
18:28Get naked.
18:29It's cool so far.
18:30And I know that it's not even near done.
18:32Yeah.
18:33True.
18:34It started like 10 minutes ago.
18:39Yeah, this needs to be cut down though for sure.
18:41Is it too tight?
18:42It is a little tight.
18:43Go, go, go, go, go.
18:45Christopher's dress.
18:46What are you going to say about it other than why is one dress throwing up the other?
18:50Arms up.
18:51Arms up.
19:01Oh, I'm so annoyed.
19:02Do you remember our jacket with the zippers on the collar?
19:05Yeah.
19:06Logan Stewart with all zippers on the collar.
19:10I'm like, I'm so pissed.
19:12Just because, like, why is he even here?
19:14He's never had one look that's been the top three.
19:16Number one.
19:17And he came down.
19:18He's like stealing ideas.
19:21He's so annoyed.
19:23He thinks because he's like cute, he can do whatever the .
19:25I'm like really annoyed.
19:27Oh my goodness.
19:28Yeah.
19:29Oh my goodness.
19:30Okay.
19:31We'll see you later.
19:32All right.
19:33Bye girls.
19:34Mwah.
19:35Done thinking.
19:36Now I'm going to work.
19:38Okay.
19:39Time is not on my side.
19:41For hours and hours and hours, I'm going to create my flowers.
19:44I'm going to hand apply them to the black overdress.
19:46Keep in mind that when I did the first dress, it took me eight hours to sew on all of those petals.
19:54I'm getting a little worried.
19:55I think a lot of designers have to worry.
19:57Usually, you know, I could pick out like one or two that I think might be in trouble.
20:01But at this point, now that I have a minute to see what everybody else did, I think a lot of them should be worried.
20:09There's just no way for me to like get in between these zippers.
20:14Oh, what a disaster.
20:17Let's go home.
20:18All right.
20:23Nightmare.
20:24Coming up on Project Runway.
20:26Oh!
20:27This is it.
20:28Who's taking all this stuff off the machines?
20:30Irina has the nickname Mina Irina for a reason.
20:33You're supposed to get inspiration from your own look, not from mine.
20:37There's definitely pressure with only 6OS.
20:47I have one more challenge after this runway show.
20:51So, Bryan Park is getting closer and closer and that's the ultimate goal and that's kind of where my head is.
20:56So, who's finished with their look?
20:58I want to do like some shaping of the skirt.
21:01I have to magically make up a skirt and make sure it fits and tack down the straps and pick out hair and makeup.
21:10No pressure.
21:11You finished, Irina?
21:12I'm almost, but I like to tweak like Tim says.
21:16Even if I'm on the bottom two, if I'm pushing my design and pushing my point of view, that's fine.
21:22Kick your ass.
21:26Irina is a kung fu mom.
21:27You want to see me in action, girl?
21:29Let's go to FIDM.
21:32You ready?
21:33Yep.
21:35You're welcome.
21:45I still have a lot to do.
21:47I still have about a hundred petals to put on my dress and I have to finish the skirt, do the final fitting and I want to add this neck piece.
21:55When she turns around, there's going to be this finished look.
21:59Well, good morning.
22:00Panicking.
22:01You're panicking right now?
22:02No, I just feel the pressure.
22:03Well, you should.
22:04You should, too.
22:05Stop it.
22:06I know that.
22:07We all know it.
22:08Gosh, this thing takes so long.
22:09This morning, the only real problem that I'm encountering is the sweater has to be completely hand sewn and I'm running out of time. So I have to base the bottom. Sometimes you gotta just bite the bullet and do what you can.
22:21Oh, no.
22:22Do you have a hook and I?
22:23Yeah, if you want to check in my bag.
22:24Do you find it?
22:25Do you find it?
22:26Not yet.
22:27Irene, do you have a hook and I?
22:28I don't know.
22:29I'm here to design, not make friends.
22:30We are at the point in the competition where, you know, helping out your fellow designer is kind of tough.
22:31When I want something, usually I get it.
22:32It's all weird.
22:33I'm here to design, not make friends.
22:37We are at the point in the competition where, you know, helping out your fellow designer is kind of tough.
22:45When I want something, usually I get it.
22:46It's all worth it for me in the end if you reach your goal.
22:47Who's taking all this stuff off the machines?
22:48Seriously?
22:49I'm gonna kill someone.
22:50Irene has the nickname Mina-Irena for a reason.
22:55I wish the judges would come down on her.
22:57I don't know.
22:58I don't know.
22:59I don't know.
23:00I'm here to design, not make friends.
23:01We are at the point in the competition where, you know, helping out your fellow designer is kind of tough.
23:06When I want something, usually I get it.
23:08It's all worth it for me in the end if you reach your goal.
23:11Who's taking all this stuff off the machines?
23:14The judges would come down on her for something just to kind of humble her a little bit because she's kind of on a high horse at this point.
23:20Good morning, designers.
23:22Good morning.
23:23I'm about to send in your models.
23:24You will have an hour to send them to the Garnier hair studio and the L'Oreal Paris makeup room.
23:29When you're putting your final look together, use the Macy's accessory wall thoughtfully.
23:33All right?
23:34Sending in your girls.
23:44Oh, that's so cute.
23:47Carol Hanna's little dress.
23:48I'm kind of annoyed because I'm like, when is she not going to do a dress?
23:51I think Carol Hanna is a really strong designer, but she's never done pants or a jacket and I'm really surprised the judges haven't labeled her a one trick pony.
24:01I like my dress.
24:03I'm happy with the design.
24:05It's just, at this point, being happy doesn't mean not nervous.
24:08Accentuate the shape of her eye.
24:14Like a smokey eye.
24:15I think Tinkerbell.
24:16Tinkerbell, the fairy.
24:17A little bit.
24:18All right, designers.
24:19In ten minutes, you and your models and I are going to the runway.
24:35Ten minutes.
24:37I like this challenge.
24:39It's going to showcase that even though I am 44, I can still create fashion that's younger.
24:44That looks really edgy.
24:46I think that Jordana is taking this challenge a bit too literal just by using a really similar technique that she used for the wedding challenge.
24:53It reminds me of my grandma's couch.
24:55My grandma has better taste than that, actually.
24:58This is how they dressed in the olden days.
25:00Right?
25:01I've gone as far as I can with the money and the time and the challenge.
25:05I've been battered a couple of times by the judges, but I keep making it through to the next round.
25:11I'm meant to be here.
25:13I think people are getting inspired from other people's works, but I don't know how conscious it is.
25:18I was a little frustrated with Logan because of the collar, but I don't think I'm going to say anything.
25:23Althea's whining about Logan copying her collar or zipper idea.
25:28Meanwhile, she's copying my previous look, the Aspen look.
25:31Are you insane or are you drunk?
25:33You're supposed to get inspiration from your own look, not from mine.
25:37Designers and models.
25:39This is it.
25:40We are walking to the runway right now.
25:43Let's go, go, go.
25:44At this point, I have no idea if I'm in the top or bottom.
25:48They like it.
25:49They're going to love it.
25:50If they don't, I went a little too far.
25:52That's it.
25:53We're out.
25:54Coming up on Project Runway.
25:56This didn't work at all.
25:58I think it's so unflattering.
26:00Who had the first idea of these big sweater jackets?
26:03It was my original sketch.
26:04I definitely don't feel like I was influenced.
26:07I'm shocked.
26:15Hello.
26:16Hi.
26:17Welcome to the runway.
26:18As you know, in fashion, one day you're in, and the next day you're out.
26:22There are six of you here, and after tonight, there will be five.
26:27This week, you used your own success as a starting point.
26:31We asked each of you to create a companion look that complements and enhances one of your best designs from a previous challenge.
26:40You had $100 in one day for this challenge.
26:44And I really look forward to seeing what you've done this week.
26:47All right.
26:48Let's meet the judges.
26:49First, we have instructor at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising and Project Runway alumni.
26:55Nick Marios, Fashion Director for Marie Claire Magazine, Nina Garcia.
27:00And actress and one of the faces of L'Oreal, the ever-fashionable Carrie Washington.
27:09Who will score your designs as they come down the runway?
27:11One of you will be named the winner, and one of you will be out.
27:16Let's start the show.
27:18I like my dress.
27:23I'm happy with the way that it relates back to the winning look.
27:29And I love the pockets, and I think it's really fun.
27:38I think my look does look really fashion-forward.
27:41Of course, Tanisha looks good. She always walks so good.
27:49I'm definitely feeling very confident.
27:57As Koji comes down the runway, I'm excited.
28:03I think that it's something that you don't see every day,
28:06so I think that the judges will be kind of surprised of what I did.
28:13Seeing my look come down the runway,
28:14I really love my collar and the sweater jacket.
28:17I think that is my favorite part about it.
28:25Kaelin is working my look.
28:27She looks really hot in it.
28:33I love the look that I have created.
28:36I know that maybe now we don't see that many long jackets,
28:42but we will.
28:43So I'm very confident in what I have created.
28:53The judges let us know that it's time to step it up.
28:56My designs have been stepped up the whole time.
29:02I don't feel like I did anything safe or simple.
29:05I really pushed it.
29:12There are only six of you remaining,
29:14so we're going to talk to all of you today.
29:17All right, Christopher, tell us about your look.
29:19Well, my winning look that I used to create this was the red carpet look.
29:24And I had done some textural elements and what I did to bring that into this piece was I used some of the same petal work.
29:31Also, I did a graduated piecing to the petals where they start smaller and get larger as they go down.
29:38Nina, what do you think?
29:39I think that in terms of the proportion, this didn't work at all.
29:43It's so bottom heavy. It almost looks like she's a carnival float.
29:48There's a pretty gown in there. I think that you could have used some editing in terms of using all that stuff.
29:53I think the top part of it is really beautiful, but the bottom is a little bit you took the bed skirt with you.
29:59I don't think that the bedspreads are necessarily horrible.
30:04I just think it's two different gowns and that the worlds kind of don't blend with each other.
30:09There's nothing that unifies both dresses that are there.
30:14Irina, tell us about your look.
30:18My look has, you know, the same spirit of my Aspen look, except that it's like an evening look.
30:24It's something she'd probably wear to like dinner or cocktail party or, you know, something that's a little bit more festive.
30:31I wrote down very uptown chic.
30:34She just looked like a former Russian model who just married a millionaire.
30:39I really love this look. I could totally see my stylist yelling at me before leaving the house.
30:44You know, like, make sure you get pictures with the sweater and then take the sweater off and do pictures.
30:47It's really elegant and yet it's also cozy.
30:52It's definitely, you know, something I would make a call about if I saw on the runway.
30:56I think the coat of color is locked, the shape is, you know, brilliant.
31:04What I have a real problem with is the tight brocade dress underneath.
31:09It looks cheap.
31:10Nina's the only one today that didn't like this because I liked it too.
31:13So you have three for one today.
31:15I actually liked it. I thought for $100 in one day, you've done a great job.
31:20Jordana, tell us about your look.
31:23My original dress was edgy.
31:26So I took the inspiration of the edginess.
31:29I wanted some elegant silhouette.
31:31That's why I added some leather pieces to the jacket.
31:35So your first look was edgy.
31:37So you decided to make this look not edgy.
31:40Well, kind of edgy, but with the elegant silhouette.
31:43I don't think this is fun, fashionable, beautiful at all.
31:49The same with what you've done to this beautiful girl.
31:52Her hair, she just looks old and drab and sad.
31:55It doesn't feel strong.
31:57It feels very passive to me.
31:59As opposed to making a statement, it just kind of almost doesn't want to be noticed.
32:04I think between the collar and the darts and the length of that jacket, it makes the look a little dated.
32:14It looks like an office worker in Warsaw, Poland.
32:17It is not...
32:18It's a little...
32:19I mean...
32:20I mean, you had such a useful, beautiful dress before.
32:22And then this, I'm shocked.
32:24I like it.
32:25So, I'm sorry.
32:29Carol Hanna, tell us about your look.
32:31My winning look was from the Christina Aguilera and Bob Mackie challenge.
32:36My previous piece had a lot of texture in it, and I wanted to kind of play off of that.
32:40I think the simplicity makes the dress kind of delicious.
32:45And the color is really beautiful.
32:47She reminded me of, like, Ava Gardner.
32:49I love the lightness.
32:51You know what added to the attitude of lightness were the pockets.
32:55I really liked having the pockets.
32:57Oh, yeah.
32:58Those are great.
32:59It was really fun.
33:00Okay, Logan, tell us about your look.
33:02The look could be in the same collection, but this would be more of kind of a pow, like, wow piece.
33:08I know that it's on the brink of costume, but I think that you could still see it maybe at the VMAs with Pink wearing it or something like that.
33:17What do you think, Nina?
33:19Um...
33:21It just looks like a, you know, fashion project from a student.
33:25Your ideas are there, but the shapes are not right.
33:28I think it's so unflattering.
33:29Looks 80s to me.
33:31It does scream a little bit Judy Judson.
33:34Yeah, no.
33:35No.
33:36It has a futuristic feel.
33:37Doesn't it?
33:38That for me was a little distracting.
33:40Athia, tell us about your look.
33:42The look I was going off of was a suiting look that had a paper bag waist.
33:46And I think really overall it's similar with both looks.
33:50It's just the ease and sort of casualness of the look while still having a tailored, well-made, nice garment.
33:58I want it.
34:00I love the pants.
34:01Fabulous.
34:02I think they're genius, those pants.
34:04Yeah, I think the sweater's gorgeous.
34:06Yeah.
34:07I think the sweater's just gorgeous.
34:09Now, who had the first idea of these big arena or you?
34:13Were you guys looking at each other?
34:15Who has kind of like these big sweaters?
34:17Oh, the big, these big sweaters.
34:18Yeah.
34:19Well, we sketch completely different.
34:20I mean, I had, this was in my original sketch and I'm sure hers was in her original sketch.
34:24Well, I did do the knit in my previous look.
34:27There has been a little bit of, you know, resemblance of things in the work room.
34:33That was sort of surprising to me.
34:34Sometimes that happens though when you're put together in a room.
34:37How do you not realize it when it's like six people in a room?
34:40You know, it's not like 20.
34:41It was my original sketch.
34:43I didn't see that and then change the sweat.
34:46You know what I mean?
34:47Did you look like that?
34:48No, but I love this look.
34:49I think it is a great look.
34:50And I love the proportion.
34:51You know, this kind of big, oversized, comfortable, easy.
34:56You totally communicate what you're going for.
34:59So I liked it.
35:01Okay.
35:02We've heard what you had to say.
35:03We're going to have a little chat and then I'm going to call you back.
35:06You can leave the runway.
35:07All right, let's talk about those with the higher scores.
35:14Let's start with Irina.
35:16I think everything that she designs, I can actually see people wearing her clothes.
35:20I thought it was chic.
35:21I really did think, you know, it looked like the perfect outfit for the perfect arm candy of a millionaire.
35:27She always is thinking about making it look luxe.
35:31Imagine if she had the money, you know?
35:34I think it's a beautiful look.
35:36All right, let's move on to Althea.
35:40I thought the construction was really good.
35:42The pants were impeccable.
35:43And especially this idea of keeping the look architectural, but still having it be cozy and comfortable.
35:50The model loved it.
35:51Yeah.
35:52She felt good in it.
35:53Yeah, no, that was fabulous.
35:57Let's talk about Carol Hannah.
35:59The cocktail dress.
36:00Beautiful dress.
36:01So sweet.
36:02A very, very nice dress.
36:04And Lisa looked great modeling it.
36:05She kept it young and sexy.
36:08Mm-hmm.
36:09The pockets, that made it also very young.
36:10Yeah.
36:11Love those pockets.
36:12The work that she did with the charmeuse and the chiffon was very well done and very refined, very quiet, very elegant.
36:21Really beautiful.
36:22We could all wear that dress.
36:23Oh my gosh.
36:24Yes, we could all wear that dress.
36:25We could all wear it.
36:28Let's talk about those designers with the lower scores.
36:31Let's talk about Logan.
36:32Ah.
36:33So, Space Odyssey 2001.
36:36It was like an outfit for a music video back in the 80s, but not even for the lead person.
36:41The background.
36:42Yeah.
36:44It just was strange.
36:45To me it was like, you know those lizards that when they're trying to scare people, their necks drop out.
36:49Like an indulgent fashion student project.
36:52It just didn't.
36:53Yeah.
36:54Last week I've told him, turn up the volume.
36:56Who are you?
36:57And now he's like, I'm about zippers.
36:59Like some 50 in one outfit.
37:01Hardware.
37:02He took that advice to literally.
37:04I know.
37:08All right.
37:09Let's talk about Jordana.
37:10She wanted to do edgy and elegant, and she couldn't really deliver on that.
37:15That was like the saddest drab, most drab thing.
37:19And maybe it's like a personal thing.
37:21I mean, I was like, okay, the 80s are back.
37:23You do it.
37:27Let's talk about Christopher.
37:28I've wanted to like this dress.
37:30It's really hard on making a thousand petals.
37:32I know.
37:33I wanted to really like this dress because I liked two thirds of it.
37:38But the bottom was heavy.
37:40There's like children hiding underneath.
37:42No.
37:43Terrible.
37:44Terrible.
37:45Big thing coming out.
37:46I was like, what is going on?
37:47The way it hangs, it does not look expensive.
37:49It does look like a bed skirt.
37:51It hangs just like that.
37:52He put the bed skirt around three times and that's it.
38:00I think this was one of our toughest decisions, right?
38:04But we did it.
38:06Okay, let's bring them back out.
38:07One of you will be named the winner and one of you will be out.
38:22One of you will be named the winner and one of you will be out.
38:28Carol, Hannah, you're in.
38:33You can leave the runway.
38:41Althea, you are the winner of this challenge.
38:47We all wanted to walk away with your outfit, but it's mine.
38:51I will be happy to make each and every one of you your own version.
38:55Oh, thank you.
38:57Good job.
38:58Congratulations.
38:59You can leave the runway.
39:01Congrats.
39:02Thank you all very much.
39:03I'm not really exactly sure what Irina was accusing me of copying,
39:07but to accuse someone of something on the runway in front of judges
39:12and really important people, I feel like it's not an issue of stress.
39:16It's an issue of character.
39:17Do you win?
39:18Yes.
39:19But, you know, that's all right because I still won.
39:24Even though no one wanted me to.
39:26I'm happy.
39:29Irina, you're in.
39:31You can leave the runway.
39:41Christopher, you're in.
39:44You can leave the runway.
39:49Logan, Jordana, one of you will be out.
40:00Jordana, this suit had nothing to do with your previous look.
40:05This outfit was sad, drab, and dated.
40:09Logan.
40:10Logan, your look was too tricked out.
40:13Yes, we did tell you to turn up the volume, but this was like a bunch of zippers exploded on your dress.
40:19You really needed to edit.
40:26Jordana.
40:27You're in.
40:28Thank you very much.
40:29Thank you very much.
40:30That means Logan, you're out.
40:34Thank you so much.
40:39I'm surprised that I'm going home for taking a risk and for showing them something that's innovative and kind of out there.
40:51I'm definitely not a designer that's for, you know, middle America or 90% of the population.
41:04So I think that, you know, the people that see what I put down the runway, they'll get it.
41:18If they don't, then they don't.
41:20And, you know, I'm not trying to please everyone.
41:23You're a great designer.
41:25We're going to hear more from you.
41:26Yes, you will.
41:27Good.
41:28Thank you, guys.
41:29Thanks, Logan.
41:30This whole thing has just been so crazy.
41:34I'm looking forward to the future and I'm looking forward to the next step and the opportunities that I know are coming my way.
41:43This isn't the end for me.
41:45It's really the beginning.
41:49Next week on Project Runway, Fashion Week is at your fingertips.
41:53It's your last challenge.
41:57It's costing me my life.
41:58Althea is sort of like King Kong.
42:00She wants to grab everything.
42:01I think she's just out for blood.
42:03Oh, yeah.
42:04It's looking a lot like roadkill.
42:06They look like stalactites.
42:07They're going to be edged in...
42:08Christopher, what?
42:10Oh, my God.
42:11It's a bit of a mess fest.
42:13Not so great from the back.
42:15I'm a bit shocked to see this from you today.
42:17Are you confident in this as your final challenge look?
42:28We went through.
42:30We went through.
42:31You think that's not a mess?
42:32You were right.
42:33It went through.
42:37The correct answer to this estratégon.
42:38Well, you're very tired.
42:40You didn't retreat.
42:41You didn't know what the team has done with it.
42:42You were right.
42:43swing 만들あれ.
42:46Stand with it.
42:48Over is a little more online office space.
42:50If there's up for yourself, it's nice you don't wanna do anymore.
