00:00Previously on Project Runway, you'll be working in two teams to create a cohesive
00:05line of professional women's wear. I hate team challenges. I'm wondering if the
00:10flares are too much. I feel like I'm a tailor right now and not a designer. I'm
00:15not a f***ing tailor. Look at how that looks. She looks like she's taking a f***ing
00:19Just take it out then and do what you want to do. Don't f***ing talk to me like that.
00:22Ugh, I'll land it.
00:24It looks to me like a cheap dress. This pantsuit is very unflattering. Congratulations team
00:36six. Your photo shoot will make it on the pages of Marie-Claire Awards.
00:41Melissa, congratulations. You're the winner of this challenge. Thank you. Thank you so
00:46much. I was so excited. Raul, I'm sorry you're out.
00:51Welcome to Season 10 of Project Runway. The winner of Project Runway will receive
00:58$50,000 in technology and office space from HP and Intel to bring their creativity to life
01:04and run their business. A fashion spread in Marie-Claire Magazine. A 2013 Lexus GS350.
01:11$100,000 from Laurel Paris to start their own line. And the chance to design and sell an exclusive
01:17collection at Lord & Taylor. The model paired with the winner of Project Runway will receive
01:22a fashion spread in Marie-Claire Magazine and $25,000 from Laurel Paris Everstyle.
01:27Oh, my God. Let's go. Can we just, like, sleep in, like, one day? No.
01:41Hi, everybody. Welcome back to the runway. Hi. For your next challenge, we have some new clients
01:55for you. Well, these guys aren't exactly your new clients. These people standing next to
02:09me have friends, and they're friends. They're in desperate need of a new wardrobe and a style
02:16makeover. Is that true, guys? Yes. In desperate need? Definitely. Are you guys willing to help
02:23them out? Do we have a choice? No. Melissa, you won the last challenge, and you cannot be eliminated
02:32this week. All right. First, Tim and a special guest will meet you in the workroom to tell you
02:38more about the challenge. And then these guys will introduce you to their friends. Good luck. I think
02:44you might need it. Good morning, designers. Good morning. It's great to see you. You all know this
02:54gentleman standing next to me, Johnny Lavoie. Designers. Our consulting hairstylist for Laurel
03:00Paris. And Johnny is here today because he's going to be working with your client's hair makeover.
03:06For the past several weeks, you guys have been challenging me to create looks for your models.
03:10So it's my turn to challenge you to think just beyond hairstyling. So with your help,
03:16we're going to make these women look and feel their best. And I think with a haircut and a color
03:20boost, it's going to be a perfect marriage with your design. I'm going to send in your friend
03:24and friends in need. All right. Okay. We'll get started. Thank you. Angelica. Angelica. Amanda.
03:32So Amanda's my little sister, and she's a social worker. She's always helping people. I thought,
03:38why not help her this time and give her a little fashion sense. This is her everyday style. Oh my
03:43god. Everyday? So what do you see yourself in? I'm thinking maybe the dress is kind of nice. A dress?
03:49Okay. So you do see yourself in a dress. I can see myself in a dress. Okay. I think that we can do
03:55something structured at the top, but then it kind of moves at the bottom. You're getting a makeover.
04:01Yeah. Okay. So why do you think she needs a makeover? Jenna is like a very incredibly bubbly
04:09person, and then she likes colors that reflect that. I think we need to sophisticate your look
04:15a little bit special. What do you usually wear to work? A dress and a blazer sometimes. Okay.
04:21I don't know. I see you in boots. And a hip, trendy jacket. Yeah. I love jackets. Maybe.
04:27A makeup jacket. Hi, I'm Tayo. Hi. Ben. Nice to meet you. So who am I designing for? Me.
04:33For you. Okay. We work in finance, and we do get to wear business casual. Like, this is business
04:40casual, and this is what she wears at work, so. For business casual. Yeah. So, I don't know.
04:46How often do you wear dresses or skirts? Oh. Um, in the summer, I'll wear a jean skirt maybe,
04:52but. Jeans skirt. Yeah. I would actually really love to see her in her skirt or a dress.
04:57Her four-year-old son would love to see her in a skirt or a dress. Oh, that would be beautiful,
05:01because they don't really see you in that. No. He's like, Mom, you're beautiful. I want to buy
05:05you this dress. I want to get the heel. Oh, that's really sweet. So, so we're seeing a skirt and a
05:09top. The point of this is really to take the next step forward, but we'll be comfortable,
05:14at the same time, a little bit fashionable. She, like, prioritizes comfort over everything else.
05:20Angela looks very plain. I think she's a perfect client for me, because I do high fashion, but at
05:28the same time, I do timeless pieces that are comfortable. Like, a lot of times, I'll wear, like,
05:33big, chunky jewelry, and then, like, something flowy, like, with it. I like contrast. I like
05:39contrast, too. I want men to want to marry me, and women to not to be me. All right. Okay.
05:44That's it. Candace tends to choose her shoes first, and then her outfit. I don't necessarily care of,
05:52like, I guess things match, or certain patterns match, or colors, or, I don't know. I like to mix
05:57match. I love wearing dresses. Okay. I sing pop and R&B. Okay. Because I don't want to look regular.
06:04I have a musical degree. I play and sing and write, but the only other performer I've designed
06:10for was my mother when we were doing classical music concerts. Sexy, with swag. Like, should it be
06:17open? So? I have some abs over here. Also, um, sophisticated. So, let's see. Do you wear skirts,
06:26like, on occasion? Only when I'm forced to. Cray tries as best she can to, to, like, avoid being,
06:35being seen at all. Yeah, I just don't want to be sexualized, you know what I mean? Definitely.
06:39No, I definitely just want that. Yeah. So, yeah, I do. Yeah. Like, you can wear, like, um,
06:44it's a sheer on top of, like, if you have a shirt that goes up to here, and it's, it's an indication
06:48of something that it's feminine, but it's not plunging, you know? I think she understands that
06:52I'm edgy, so the dress that I'm going to give her is going to have that feel to it, and also going
06:57against the grain. So, it's going to be girly, but it's going to be, um, harsh at the same time.
07:03So, why did you submit her? Because she's got such a personality,
07:08and it's so large, and so big, and I want her look to match that personality. I want it to come
07:13out. And why do you, why are you so apprehensive? I'm really excited. Okay. I've always wanted
07:23something like this, but, you know, I never had, I guess, the nerve or whatever to go for. I think
07:29it's extremely important to design for the average, everyday person. I think this is a fun challenge,
07:33because this is what I like to do at home. I make clothing for regular women that want to look great.
07:43All right, designers, just remember that the success of our challenges begin and end
07:48here at Mood. All right. So, your 30 minutes starts right now. All right. Happy shopping.
08:03Time is up. Thank you, Mood. Designers, let's head back to Parsons.
08:18We meet with Johnny Lavoie from L'Oreal Paris. I think we should do something really vibrant with
08:26your hair. Okay. I think Beria is a perfect choice. Going a really beautiful, vibrant, gorgeous red. I
08:32love the tone it is, but I think it can use a little more brightness. So, what I'm going to do is use
08:36healthy look, cream gloss color. Okay. It's really going to give you great healthy shine and brighten
08:42up your existing color. The first thing I noticed when I saw her is that the hair is very flat. I would
08:46like to see more volume. Yeah, I definitely want to see volume. Definitely shorter around here.
08:51I want it to cover at least my neck. That's good, because I wouldn't want to take it much shorter
08:55than that. So, I'd like to do something with the Everstyle lifting spray. Okay. It's going to look
09:00great. Continue this line onto the back, just like an asymmetrical layered bob. Sometimes dark hair can
09:06get a little flat. Mm-hmm. So, Feria has this beautiful midnight collection, and it's these
09:11multi-dimensional tones that's going to give your hair tons of shimmer. All right, designers,
09:16a little bit of business. First, you have until 11 o'clock tonight, and the friends and friends
09:22in need will be in for a fitting. How is everyone? Good. How are you? All right.
09:36How are you doing, Nathan? My client is fun and young. She is a R&B and pop artist trying to transition
09:43her wardrobe into that of a superstar. I can do nice cutout panels, and then we're doing this
09:49mesh, and it's not like your old regular hooker mesh, you know, the fishnet. I hate that regular
09:54hooker mesh. If she can wear shapewear. I thought about that, and I'm going to have that conversation.
09:58Because otherwise, you've got a really vulgar moment happening. I hear you. Thanks. Thank you.
10:03My client likes to wear blazers and jeans to work. So, I figured make a dress that can go with her
10:09blazers and make a jacket that can go with her jeans. I like the multitasking of these items. Right.
10:14But I think the cherry on top is getting her to look fabulous in this. Cool. I made a high-waisted
10:21skirt. So, she's petite and she has curves. She has curves. Does she have a long torso? Um, no,
10:27she does not. Okay. But this is high-waisted? The blouse I'm making is going to cover it. It's not
10:33going to go inside. Oh, so you're not going to see the high-waist. The high-waist. If you can pull
10:37this off, this is going to be fantastic. I hope so. Kim is an aspiring actress. Oh. She is not
10:43bold when it comes to dressing, but she wants to be very bold. But I had planned to do like an ombre
10:49effect with these. If you did all those colors, you'd have a pinata. I think the cleaner this is,
10:53the better off you are. Mm-hmm. And the better off she is. Thank you so much, Tim. Thank you,
10:58Connor. Want to hear about your client. Well, actually, the friend who brought her here,
11:02he wants her to be more feminine and be more comfortable wearing something that is other
11:06than like jeans and button downs. Mm-hmm. Quite honestly, love the dress, Tim. And I love the
11:10direction that it's going. And it's not just a dress. It looks designed. Yeah. My client,
11:16her sister, wants her to have... Oh, her sister turned around. Yeah. My sister's like,
11:20all right, enough is enough. She wants her to have more of a mature look. You know,
11:23I made sure that it kind of came in so that it would give her that nice hourglass shape,
11:27yet hide, you know, what's happening in here. Hi, Van. How are you? Hi, Tim. How are you? I'm
11:34good. I'm going to hear about your client. So when I first met her, I was actually a little in shock
11:40because I've never worked with plus size before. Well, what size is she? Oh my god,
11:44I'm thinking around a 14. Well, that's just on the cusp. My client really doesn't have a shape. She's
11:51definitely not fashioned for it. She doesn't have any sense of style whatsoever. Are you leading her
11:55forward? The before picture is definitely a nightmare and the after picture will definitely be
12:01something that's drastically different. I kind of lost respect for him. Coming up on Project Runway.
12:08Are you making her look even more conservative than she actually is? It was just like yawn. Alicia's outfit
12:14is an absolute mess. This is totally out of her realm. If you asked me to choose the designer using
12:27these textiles, you'd be the last one on my list. I know. Well, that's kind of why I went this route
12:33also because it's a little unexpected. She looks as plain as it gets. So I'm trying to give her some
12:39attitude. It's a matter of are you making her look even more conservative than she actually is?
12:51Your hair. Oh my gosh. It moves. Look at your smile. Do you love your hair? It's a good color.
13:00Oh my god. The hair. It's amazing. Oh my god. Do you love it? I love it. I feel really good about the piece
13:11that I'm making and I think that, you know, I've really satisfied my customer. Love it.
13:15Look at the top of it. Oh my god. This is so cool. This is the first time I see Elena as actually being
13:23nice to someone. So it's about time. So comfy. So excited about what I'm wearing. I know. She just
13:30lights up when she sees what I'm doing and it feels really good. I just wanted to see. I just wanted to
13:36see. The last thing I thought I would be making for Project Runway is a pink dress. Do you think
13:43you're going to add more lace or do you think you'll leave it like this? I mean I can leave it open here.
13:47What do you think about the color? I love the color. Yes. I know it looks good on me. This challenge
13:53makes me excited and nervous because I'm trying to figure out a nice way of saying I just cannot do
14:00that. So the look is very polished. I think it's going to be great and black is also very slimming.
14:07Can you try to just see how this works?
14:10Like this would be great but it's too small. But I'll ask if they have bigger ones.
14:20Vin is just dogging his girl and it's like extremely rude. First of all, you don't talk to somebody like
14:28that. Especially your client. Vagia, who's going home today? I think Nathan's in trouble.
14:38Vin's in trouble. He could have done some good things. She's not that big of a girl.
14:41After seeing how he treated his customer and how he spoke of her, I don't think he's
14:47sophisticated, refined, or elegant. Why isn't all this done, huh?
14:59Good morning, everyone. How are you? Good morning.
15:02This morning, you have some extra time for hair and makeup. This is the L'Oreal Paris
15:08hair challenge. You have three hours to send your models to hair and makeup and prep them for the
15:12runway. Okay? Great. I thought you'd be happy. And of course, use the Lord and Taylor wall very
15:18thoughtfully. Yeah. All right, I'll see you a little later. Thank you. Thanks.
15:31I actually think it's very slimming here. I mean, Taylor, it's up to you. But I think when it's all
15:35done, she's going to look beautiful and that's... I mean, I'm not doubting that it's a beautiful outfit.
15:40It's just not me. So, like, the belts didn't go, like, here, right? If they get a fat enough belt?
15:46They'll definitely... I mean, I requested the belts, but the ones we have here were too small,
15:50which I tried on yesterday. Yeah, you keep saying that. It's embarrassing.
15:54I'm just so disappointed. Don't cry. Don't cry because you're going to make me cry.
15:58And we just dyed her here of deep reds. Very beautiful. So, kind of something. It's more of a
16:10nighttime look. She's got gorgeous eyes. I'd love to go into the plummy land. Okay. That'd be great.
16:17Bouncy, really loose curls today. Okay. The dress fits like a glove, so it's...
16:22You're awesome. It's going to be fun, so treat her like a queen.
16:27Hi. I miss you. It's very hard. It's been stressful? Um, yeah, most of the time. I'm actually
16:34doing really well today. Are you happy? Yeah. He's so cute.
16:39I'm nervous. I'm just thinking, please, let me be safe. It is cute.
16:52Designers, clients, and friends, we are going down to the runway. All right. Let's go. Follow me,
16:58please. We need to go, go, go. Nathan. Thank you. Coming up on Project Runway.
17:16Those two things just don't go together. She certainly is not going to the office.
17:20She's a little slutty looking. No human being should wear tights at. Your butt is on the line.
17:28Hello. Hi. Welcome to the runway. As you know, in fashion, one day you're in,
17:39and the next day, you're out. There are 10 designers here, and after tonight, there will be nine.
17:44You had new clients for this challenge. The men and the women sitting next to you are their friends.
17:50Your job was to help give them a new head-to-toe look. Laura Paris also helped your client with a whole
17:55new hair look. You had one day and $150 to put your look together. Melissa, you won the last
18:00challenge, which means that you have immunity for this week, and you cannot be eliminated.
18:05Okay, let's meet the judges. First, we have CFDA Lifetime Achievement Award winner, Michael Korth.
18:09Hey, everyone. Hi. Fashion director for Marie Claire Magazine, Nina Garcia. Hi. And our guest judge for
18:17today, British fashion designer, Ellis Temperley of Temperley London. Her clients include Jennifer
18:23Lopez, Beyonce, and Catherine the Duchess of Cambridge. Hello. Hi. We will score your designs as they come
18:30down the runway. One of you will be named the winner, and one of you will be out. Let's start the show.
18:36She's very comfortable. It's the look that she wanted, and she's completely owning this.
18:50Jenna looks really confident as she comes down the runway.
19:14The colors look really good on her. The black skirt looks amazing.
19:18She looks happy, and the judges seem to be enjoying that.
19:36She's strutting her stuff on the runway, which is great,
19:39but the scarf just looks terrible, and it is covering up the dress.
19:48It's so much fun to watch her walk down this runway.
20:03Oh, how much fun. She is eating this up.
20:08I love the way she's walking. It's fabulous.
20:24This is something I don't do often. It's pink. It's a dress, and it's like this cute little
20:37cocktail thing. So I'm excited because it's something different and came out really well,
20:41and my client's happy, so it feels like a huge success.
20:54I love this dress, but I spent eight and a half hours on this jacket,
21:02and she ripped it off and held it in a ball.
21:07She definitely looks polished and sophisticated, and it was definitely a huge transformation
21:21with her makeover. I think I did a great job.
21:35I love the way she looks. The dress complements her body. She looks amazing. She looks young,
21:48cool, vibrant. She looks confident. What else can you wish for?
22:03I am absolutely in love with this dress. I think it's a dress that looks good on her.
22:10It's the edge that I wanted to give her, but I think it's also a dress that
22:14a lot of girls would like to have.
22:27I look and I'm like, wow. She looks amazing. She's made such a great transformation. I'm so happy for her.
22:39If I call your name, please step forward. Melissa, please step forward.
22:54Christopher, Alicia, Elena. If I have called your name, congratulations. Your scores have
23:06qualified you to move on to the next challenge, and you can leave the runway. Thank you.
23:10The remaining designers have the highest and the lowest scores. One of you will be named the winner,
23:25winner, and one of you will be named the winner.
23:27One of you will be named after the winner.
23:29One of you will be named after the winner.
23:31One of you will be named after the winner.
23:33Dimitri, Fabio, Gunnar, the three of you have the highest scores.
23:43Sanji, Finn, Nathan. You have the lower scores. We're going to speak to the designers with the higher
23:53scores first, and I'm going to bring you back out. Now I can leave the runway. Thank you.
24:04Dimitri, tell us about your look.
24:05This is Angela. She's a graphic designer. I made for her this panty dress. It's very structural,
24:12but at the same time, it doesn't restrain her. It doesn't wrinkle. She can basically sleep in it.
24:18Angela, how do you like your look? I love it. I didn't think this was possible. I just didn't
24:23think I had face or the right features. Now it's like changing my life. Like she thought a style
24:29update was cutting the bottom off her old jeans into jean shorts. I have to say, when I watched you
24:35walk down the runway, I could feel your confidence. I like that. I think that you look very bright,
24:39but cool at the same time. It's sexy, but it's not slutty. I think it's a great length for you.
24:45So I think you did a great job. Thank you. You have a boyfriend? I do.
24:49The way you look right now, they're going to be calling. You look edgy. You look cool. I think
24:55that color is very good on you and good with your hair color. I like the way you styled her. The little
25:03booty. She's got this studded bag. I think it all works. Thank you. You were very smart with your
25:10fabric choice. It's really beautifully tailored, well styled. She looks great. Thank you, man. You
25:16look very, very comfortable. I'd like to have seen the neck slightly lower and a little bit longer so
25:21it looks a little bit more relaxed. The accessories look the most modern. Well done. Thank you.
25:26Fabio. This is Coray and this is her friend Judah. She's a film student. What I propose to her is that to give her
25:33a very feminine classic silhouette and make the lines very angular so give the impression of a
25:38powerful woman but it's also very feminine and I think she loves it. I don't like to wear dresses.
25:46I'm just not comfortable with my femininity because it makes me feel weak but this is perfect. It's edgy,
25:52it's cool, like I can show off my guns, you know. I love your attitude, the way you talk, you're like from
25:58the hood but you're wearing a dress and stuff. It's really funny, you know what I mean. I'm shocked
26:04that he could make something that she would like and feel comfortable in. I am so pleased
26:11because it really looks phenomenal. I love what you did with her hair. I love the asymmetry. I love
26:18the dress. I love the attitude. I think it works perfectly with flats. You look like a professional.
26:24With edge. With an edge. Exactly, with an edge. Thank you, Nina. I agree, it's the lovely dress,
26:33really nice cut. I love all the way that you put all the seam lines to create a pattern within it.
26:37It's feminine, super comfortable. I'm liking the necklace. I like the graphic in there but I
26:42really don't like the belt because it is too fussy with the dress. There's too much going on.
26:47It's a transformation but it's still her and that's the best transformation. But the dress is
26:55fabulous. The haircut's amazing and you own it. I mean, you own it. Okay, Gunner, tell us about
27:01your client and your design. Kim and her friend Catherine. I wanted to give her something that
27:06would just move along with her spirit because you can obviously tell that there's a great spirit
27:10about her and I wanted to give her something that would make her feel as good as I know she wanted
27:15to feel. I had cut all of the chiffon and all the little squares, sewed it back on and then the
27:20underlay of the dress is jersey so it's extremely comfortable. I had fun with it and I had a really,
27:25really good time working with her. Kim, what do you think about the look? When you said,
27:29what are you looking for? And I said, well, when I go down the red carpet, I want to be able to say,
27:34oh yes, this is Gunner. You know, I feel fabulous. I had a lot of fun out there. I have to tell you,
27:39Kim, in my eyes, you were the best model on the runway here today. I had a lot of fun. No,
27:44we could see that. The best. You could teach Giselle how to move. Yeah. Thank you. Kim, you rock.
27:51This dress, it has movement. It's flirty, but it's not childish. And you took someone who has
27:59a big personality that was hidden underneath her sad clothes and you brought her personality out.
28:07Good job. Thank you so much. The transformation was phenomenal. She is confident. The hair looks
28:15fantastic and I think it was very smart to do a little black dress. A little lower neckline would
28:21have been slightly sexier. You looked great. Thank you very much. Designers, we've heard what you had to
28:28say. Now I'm going to bring out the designers with the lower scores and then I'll bring it back out.
28:34You can leave the wrong way. Thank you. Sanjay, tell us about your look and your client.
28:40My client is Amanda. She wanted a look that would give her more of a mature look, something that she
28:44could wear. If she wants to go out, I wanted to make sure I gave her a very comfortable fabric because
28:49she is kind of a sporty, tomboyish kind of girl. So I wanted to make sure it was something that she felt
28:53comfortable in. It was easy to move around. I feel like she really took into account what
28:58I was telling her about myself. It made me feel just kind of sexy in a way. Wasn't that a bad idea
29:04to kind of do this knot here in the front? It was a good idea, just I don't think it worked.
29:10And then it is so super short, which makes it a little slutty looking. It needs to be a little
29:15bit longer because otherwise it looks like you're going to work somewhere else. Knowing that you are
29:23athletic and sporty, suddenly you're in a draped cocktail dress. To me it's just whoosh. I mean the
29:31dial went too far. I don't think that you looked at Amanda and worked with the best that she has.
29:40I would have wanted to see more of this part exposed. When you put a lot of extra fabric on
29:46someone who's petite, it has a tendency to just hold you down. Ben, tell us about your look and
29:53your client. This is actually my first life challenge where I've actually worked with real
29:58size women. I've never done it before. So I think the point of the look was we wanted to move forward
30:03into a direction that was new, which I had to finish very fast. Terry, how do you like your look?
30:08Yesterday with the first fitting, I was not happy. And this morning was not happy. And my friend here
30:14spoke up. I was very happy with that. This is something I never would have pictured her in.
30:18This area is like what she was like self-conscious about. And I just kind of feel like it's highlighted
30:23a little bit. I mean, I don't know if they provided the before pictures, but I think it was definitely
30:28a drastic change. And also working with the real woman that I feel like some of the other designers
30:33were lucky. I find this always so amazing when you guys say like it's the first time I had to design
30:39for a real woman. No, I've actually designed it. Like who is not real? And when I look at you today,
30:45to me, it doesn't look like, let's say, a hipper version of you. It looks like someone stuck something
30:51on you. I can't see you wearing this, for example. It's the fabric. It's the crisscross. It's the belt
30:57and the zipper. It's a lot. It doesn't seem real to me. That's what bothers me probably the most.
31:02She looks like she's in a turquoise smock that was cut off. It chops her right in half. You
31:11weren't doing her any favors. I don't think the turquoise is appropriate for the office in the
31:17shiny fabric. It doesn't look comfortable. It seems to me also that you guys didn't have a whole
31:23love fest. No. I mean, Theo's face has given me a whole other story. Initially in the first
31:30consultation, I don't think he asked enough questions about her life. She's like a full-time
31:35working mom with a stay-at-home dad and four kids. She drives four hours round trip to work
31:42and she doesn't get to spend time with any of them. I wanted to bring her here to actually
31:46get her in a spotlight. I've always had to put everyone else in the spotlight.
31:53The skirt is great. You just needed to give her something
31:58very easy on top. From the waist up, I don't know where she's going. She certainly is not going to
32:02the office. It's almost like two outfits in one. Those two things just don't go together.
32:07It sounds to me like you didn't really want to delve into her life and what was right for her.
32:14But I think, Terry, that you have a very special friend at work.
32:17Yes, I do. I think that she cares a lot about you. Maybe if you would have had a different designer,
32:22we would have found the perfect outfit for you. Van, it's your fault. We like Terry,
32:26but we don't love your outfit. Sorry, Van.
32:31Nathan, tell us about your look and your client. Eliana is an up-and-coming R&B artist and she
32:37wanted me to create a look for her that she could wear on stage performance so that she could have
32:43that illusion of sultry sexiness. I wasn't sure what I really want. I know I wanted to be sexy
32:49but classy. I feel very comfortable in that dress. The only thing I would say that we have to tighten
32:55it up a little bit. I didn't know that this was supposed to be a dress for the stage. This dress
33:01gives definitely a certain message. I think that it looks a little cheap. Actually a lot. I should have
33:07said a little. It just does in my eyes. She's a performing artist. The possibilities are endless,
33:13but not this mess of a dress with this unfortunate shiny color. It's ill-fitting. It is too short.
33:23The earrings don't work. This is just a disaster. Can we see really quickly the back one more time?
33:31She didn't come to you as a client looking for a costume. She came to you looking for a look.
33:37What you ended up with is every cliche combined. The sheer illusion sleeves are something you would
33:44put on an ice skater or an old lady. Betty White wears illusion. The braiding here, it looks prom to me.
33:51You had such an opportunity and you threw it away. I don't think you found anything distinctive. At best,
33:57someone's going to say, oh, well, she looks cheesy. Friends and clients, thank you very much for being
34:04here today. Designers, we're going to have a long chat and then I'm going to call you back out. You
34:10can leave the runway. Thank you. Let's talk about the designers that we didn't like. What did you think
34:18about then? From the get go, he told us, well, I've never really designed for someone real, real,
34:24real women. I wrote it down. I mean, hello. I was like, what are you talking about then? But I think
34:29the reason he ran out of time is he didn't actually work with his clients at all. I think he just wanted
34:35to do what he wanted to do. It was a little bit selfish not to listen to this woman that needed him.
34:41And that's why her friend was crying because she knew how much she needed that. And that look
34:46wouldn't have traveled four hours a day and it wouldn't make her feel easy. And I think it's sad
34:51and she needs versatility out of the clothes. I don't think he cared about her life. I don't think
34:56he cared about what was right for her. I think he cared about them. Let's talk about Nathan. He had it
35:02so easy. He had a great girl. She really needed his advice and direction. Yet he wanted her to tell
35:10him how to design the dress. And he's basically throwing her under the bus. She should have been
35:15the one person walking down the stage. She's a performer. We should have looked at it and thought,
35:20wow, that's an amazing dress. But at the end of the day, you're not a seamstress. You're a designer.
35:25Okay, let's talk about Sanji. A fairly banal dress. You've seen a thousand. To be honest,
35:30I had many maternity dresses like that. So this kind of fabric with that knot right there. With the knot.
35:35Her client clearly lives in like shorts and t-shirts. So she loved it. It was a huge transformation.
35:40Right. For her, it's a big step.
35:42Okay, let's talk about the designers that we did like. Fabio. I think Fabio had the biggest challenge.
35:48He had a client who was dressed like a lumberjack and designed a feminine dress that works for her.
35:56He didn't just design a feminine dress. He did a very unexpected dress. That's what I mean.
36:00It's a special dress. For her. It's right for her. It's a realistic,
36:05well-made dress. If she lost the belt, it would be even better. She looked like a student. Now she
36:11looks like what she is. An artist. Yeah, I thought it was really smart. What did you think about Gunnar?
36:17You know, he made Kim from super frumpy to really sassy. And he managed to find that balance between
36:25sophisticated and youthful. I mean, I think he gave her a whole new lease on life. Let's talk about
36:30Dimitri. You look at Dimitri and what he did for Angela. She went from chopped jeans, flip-flops,
36:37a tank top, into this kind of very edgy, modern-looking, cool girl. She looks really hot.
36:44He picked great fabric. It looked sophisticated. And styled her perfectly from head to toe.
36:49She was really confident, and she looked super, super happy, and it was really nice to see somebody
36:54smiling throughout. When you look at Dimitri, Fabio, and Gunnar, all three of them had this fabulous
37:01relationship with their clients. So we've made our decision.
37:08Okay, let's bring them back out.
37:13The six of you have the highest and the lowest scores.
37:15One of you will be the winner of this challenge, and one or maybe more of you will be out.
37:29One of you will be the winner of this challenge, and one or maybe more of you will be out.
37:35Fabio, you are the winner of this challenge.
37:43Oh, oh my god. Congratulations.
37:47Thank you. Thanks, guys. Thank you.
37:49Thank you. Your look was unexpected, and it pushed your client out of her comfort zone,
37:55which we liked a lot. You also have immunity for the next challenge, and you cannot be eliminated.
38:00You're in. You can eat the runway. Thank you. Thank you so much.
38:04Finally won a challenge. It feels good. Did you win? Yay! How are you winning? Yay!
38:13Coray was really happy with the dress. That's actually the best gift for designers,
38:19know that through your talent you are able to make someone feel happy about themselves.
38:22Feel good. I do.
38:27Gunnar, you're in. You can eat the runway. Thank you, guys.
38:38Dimitri, you're in. You can eat the runway. Thank you, guys.
38:43Vin, Sanji, Nathan, one or maybe more of you will be out.
39:01Nathan.
39:07I'm sorry, you're out.
39:13I'm sorry, you're out.
39:15I'm sorry.
39:16I'm sorry.
39:18Thank you. Thank you for this opportunity and your insights.
39:21I know how to dress people that don't feel confident about themselves.
39:25I get worked up about it. I'm going to take a moment. I like altering people's lives so that
39:32they can step into the person that they're supposed to be. No, no, no. I'm going home.
39:38I told Sanji, I'm like, look, you're fine. You're not . I'm done. They all hated it. For
39:47me not to go home, to send somebody else home would not be right.
39:55Sanji.
39:59You're in. You can eat the runway.
40:00Sanji. Thank you.
40:11Vin, you did not do your client any big favors.
40:14It's fine to stand by your design, but we wonder if you have flexibility.
40:20Vin, you're in. You can eat the runway.
40:28Thank you very much. It was a pleasure meeting you.
40:38What's that?
40:38Did you say it?
40:39Yeah.
40:39Oh, okay.
40:40Did they say something to you then, or?
40:42You know, honestly, I don't think I should have been the last person there.
40:45I think there were some weak looks.
40:46It's a solemn moment. I have to tell you, Nathan, we're not only losing an excellent
40:57designer, we're losing an individual who has profound qualities of character.
41:02And we're going to sincerely miss you. And we'll hear more from you.
41:05Big girls, watch out.
41:07So I have to send you to the work room to clean up your space.
41:09I'm going to miss you.
41:11I'm going to miss you, too.
41:15I will return home and have more opportunities to express my vision of beauty.
41:21I'm only looking forward, and I'm excited about my future, because my future is bright.
41:26Next time on Project Runway.
41:30For this challenge, these looks are being put into production.
41:33This is probably the biggest challenge to hit us yet.
41:36Oh, this is just not my challenge.
41:39This is not the way I do stuff.
41:42You've made a horrible mistake with the fabric.
41:44All the girls seem to be struggling.
41:46Disastrous.
41:48Men are usually stronger designers.
41:51You're going to work yourself into a psychotic breakdown.
41:56It is very expected.
41:58That almost looks like a field hockey uniform.
