00:01Previously on Project Runway, for your next challenge we have some new clients for you.
00:06I'm Terry.
00:07Terry, how are you?
00:08I'm here.
00:09Do you wear skirts, like, on occasion?
00:11Only when I'm forced to.
00:13I've always wanted something like this.
00:15I think it's extremely important to design for the everyday person.
00:18It's too small, but I'll ask if they have bigger ones.
00:22Then is dogging his girl.
00:25You don't talk to somebody like that.
00:27I don't mean to be mean.
00:28Elena's got a lot of opinions, and a lot of people can't take it.
00:31Perfect.
00:32This dress is what my client wants.
00:40I love your attitude, the way you talk.
00:42You're, like, from the hood, but you're wearing a dress.
00:45Fabio, you are the winner of this challenge.
00:48Oh.
00:49It is so super short, which makes it a little bloody looking.
00:53I think that it looks a little cheap.
00:56Nathan, I'm sorry, you're out.
00:59Welcome to Season 10 of Project Runway.
01:03The winner of Project Runway will receive $50,000 in technology and office space from HP and Intel
01:09to bring their creativity to life and run their business.
01:12A fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine.
01:15A 2013 Lexus GS350.
01:18$100,000 from Laurel Paris to start their own line.
01:21And the chance to design and sell an exclusive collection at Lord & Taylor.
01:26The model paired with the winner of Project Runway will receive a fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine and $25,000 from Laurel Paris EverStyle.
01:33I thought it was awesome that the three of us were on the top.
01:48At this point, we just need to find a way to get some more guys out of here.
01:57I'm so tired of the same that they make.
01:59I think men design clothes that they want women to wear.
02:04Women design clothes that women actually really want to wear.
02:07All right, let's go.
02:23Hello.
02:24Hi.
02:25Tired yet?
02:26No.
02:27No.
02:28Oh, no.
02:32No.
02:33I feel the same way.
02:35No, you don't, please.
02:36Are you ready to see what's in store for your next challenge?
02:39If you want to find out more, you will be taking a trip to Fifth Avenue.
02:43Tim and a special guest will be waiting for you.
02:46Good luck and I see you back here on the runway.
02:48Bye, everybody.
02:49Bye.
02:50Bye.
02:59I realize we are outside the flagship Lord & Taylor, which is a huge building.
03:04It's very historical.
03:05Lord & Taylor is a very classy, timeless store.
03:10It carries clothing for generations of women.
03:13Good morning, designers, and welcome to Lord & Taylor's flagship store.
03:17I am hugely honored to introduce you to Bonnie Brooks, the president of Lord & Taylor.
03:22Hi, designers.
03:23Welcome.
03:24This is a perfect place to celebrate ten seasons of Project Runway.
03:27This is a perfect place to celebrate ten seasons of Project Runway.
03:28Beside Bonnie and me, we have nine mannequins.
03:30Each mannequin represents a season of Project Runway.
03:33And each look on the mannequin has been designed by a designer from that season.
03:38So for this challenge, you are creating a cocktail or evening dress.
03:45Whoever wins this challenge, that winning look needs to fit in while still being true to you.
03:52Because this Project Runway collection is going to be manufactured by Lord & Taylor.
03:57Wow.
03:58I think so far this is the most important challenge that we've had.
04:01It's an opportunity that most designers don't really have in the real world.
04:06They will be sold here at the flagship store and online at lordandtaylor.com.
04:13If you win this, your name is launched in Lord & Taylor, and they've launched so many huge designers.
04:19I would love to go down in history with Project Runway, and this being the tenth anniversary,
04:23I think no better way to make your mark than winning this challenge.
04:26And the winning dress will be featured in the windows of Lord & Taylor on Fifth Avenue.
04:34Yeah, it's exciting, isn't it?
04:36Very, very exciting.
04:37You are designing for a woman who loves fashion.
04:40Well, really, for the Lord & Taylor customer, wouldn't you say, Bonnie?
04:42Yes, the Lord & Taylor customer loves fashion.
04:45She's very sophisticated and stylish, and a woman who has good taste.
04:50These dresses must be retail-priced between $200 and $300.
04:57So, designers, you have to think about putting your design into production.
05:01When you look at the other nine dresses, notice that they are designed simply enough that they can be manufactured within Lord & Taylor's price range.
05:08You need to keep that in mind for your own designs as well.
05:12You will have one day for this challenge.
05:15There's no budget.
05:16We're not going to mood.
05:17JS Collection, a division of JS Group, has provided you with fabrics and notions for this challenge,
05:24because they are the manufacturers of these dresses.
05:27And we have photographs of these nine looks on the HP as well.
05:31So, the win is the kind of capstone on our tenth season.
05:35So, you will have 30 minutes to sketch, and your 30 minutes begins now.
05:39I just have a stroke of genius.
05:46I'm a little bit uncomfortable with making this kind of aesthetic.
05:55For me, it's really hard to make something simple more than making something elaborate.
06:01I'm looking at the nine designs up there, but I still don't feel strongly at all about anything that I'm sketching.
06:08You know, having been at the bottom based in elimination, it does put me at a place where I'm really nervous.
06:14Designers, sketching time is up, and let's head back to Parsons.
06:20Have a look around, everybody.
06:24Today, we're not going to mood.
06:32All of the fabrics are going to be provided to us.
06:39All right, designers, you're up until 11 o'clock tonight.
06:42And this is a great challenge.
06:44Just think about the winning look going into production.
06:46How thrilling is that?
06:47That's crazy.
06:48Elena, what are you even going to make?
06:50I don't know.
06:51I sketched out something completely different than these fabrics are going to allow me to do.
07:02Oh, hello.
07:10The winner of this challenge is going to have his dress put into production and sew it at Lauren Taylor.
07:14This look is going to be retailed between $200 and $300, which means that we have to think about how much this costs to be produced.
07:29My plan to make a sharp, clean, beautiful dress.
07:33That's what I do.
07:35I just hope I'm here after tomorrow.
07:37This is not my thing at all.
07:43Just remember to put some of you into this.
07:45I'm trying.
07:53Are you doing your detailing again?
07:54Yeah.
07:55It looks so pretty.
07:59Hi.
08:00I'm Skunner.
08:01You've made a lot of progress.
08:02Yeah.
08:03I love this part up here.
08:04I think that it's just enough to where it would be respectful for a Lauren Taylor customer.
08:07Well, frankly, just walking up to your dress form, I thought it looked beautiful.
08:11Don't talk to me about this.
08:12This is kind of like a Chanel-inspired style.
08:14Mm-hmm.
08:15And I wanted to do like a hidden box pleat.
08:20It's looking a little Joan of Arc, like armor.
08:23Joan of Arc, that's not a bad comment to me.
08:25It's better than making a princess dress.
08:28Sanji.
08:29Tim.
08:30How are you?
08:31Not so good.
08:32Talk to me.
08:33I guess I'm thinking about it more, having bitten the bottom.
08:36I just feel like I never know what they're going to think.
08:38If you're trying to channel those judges, you're going to work yourself into this psychotic breakdown.
08:44Yeah.
08:45How are you, Fabio?
08:46I'm doing great.
08:47The back is going to be really simple, because I noticed that the only dress the whole collection
08:51that have a visible zipper in the back was Uli's, and I really like that detail.
08:55So I'm going to have black tape with a metal zipper.
08:57Yeah.
08:58Looks beautiful.
08:59If it fits her superbly, I think they're going to swoon.
09:03I hope so.
09:04I'm trying my hardest to make it a Lord & Taylor customer.
09:09This is going to be simple with like a fuller skirt this time.
09:13And on the open back, I was going to do cutouts that would be attached to the dress and kind of cover.
09:20I like the idea.
09:21I'm trying to think of economies.
09:24What do you think the production would average if I left it as it is?
09:29If I were Bonnie Brooks, I'd say this is too one of a kind.
09:34There's no way we could possibly put this into production.
09:37That's just crazy.
09:41I mean, I just, you know, this is not the way I do stuff.
09:45This isn't the way I design.
09:48I design upscale garments that aren't necessarily mass marketed, you know?
09:55Oh, I do know.
09:56I know.
09:57If you look at my stuff, you cannot compare it with anything you've seen before.
10:00And I just don't understand why I keep on being at the bottom and like not noticed.
10:06Coming up on Project Runway.
10:09You've made a horrible mistake with the fabric.
10:11It's just kind of like watching a car crash happen.
10:14I felt like I needed to take a step forward.
10:17Oh, God.
10:27Hi, Ben.
10:28How are you doing?
10:29Pretty good.
10:30I wanted to incorporate the aesthetic and silhouettes that I saw today.
10:33But at the same time, it has to be my point of view.
10:35It's certainly a signature.
10:36Yeah.
10:37I just don't want you to throw away everything else.
10:40I mean, and I'm talking about conceptually for this.
10:43I like the dress.
10:44I'm just trying to figure out what to do here.
10:47When I see this, I think it's visually interesting.
10:50I think it looks expensive and complicated.
10:53But it's not expensive and it's not really complicated.
10:55I agree with you.
10:56Talk to me.
10:57Today, I noticed that there were only two gowns up there.
11:00And I will be the third.
11:02Oh, right.
11:03I like the attitude.
11:04I wanted to do a tight gown and play with hard and soft again.
11:08Okay.
11:09Drama.
11:10Yeah.
11:11It's sophisticated.
11:12It has elegance.
11:13I think a woman would look fabulous in this.
11:16How is Melissa?
11:17Questioning the fabric right now.
11:18What happens at the top?
11:19So this is going to come around the top like this and just be freestanding.
11:24Just up around her collarbone.
11:26And then come down and be like an asymmetrical hemline.
11:29And with this fabric, every dart, every seam shows.
11:33Yeah.
11:34I don't know.
11:35I think I just don't like the fabric.
11:37See how this looks like our model.
11:38Okay.
11:39And see how it moves.
11:40Okay.
11:41Because maybe it will be great.
11:43All right.
11:50It's definitely modern and young.
11:52This is pretty.
11:53Lacey sees the fabric and that's the first thing she comments on.
11:56And I was like, okay, good.
11:59It's cool, right?
12:00And it's, it gives the Chanel vibe, right?
12:03Yeah.
12:04What do we think of the?
12:05I personally like it.
12:07But then again, they never liked what I liked.
12:09I don't know.
12:10Sanji, the eighties called and want everything back.
12:13Cyndi Lauper is missing a dress and a clutch.
12:18I'm just upset about the fit.
12:20It just doesn't lay nicely or even look good whatsoever.
12:24So I'm just going to have to scratch it and cut an entirely new dress.
12:32How to you guys.
12:33I don't have enough time.
12:34I really don't think I have enough time to finish this dress.
12:36I don't know how I'm going to finish it.
12:38You're not even that remotely close?
12:40Nope.
12:41Are you kidding?
12:42No.
12:43I guess it's my turn.
12:44It's not your turn.
12:45Stop it.
12:46Hey guys, time to go home.
12:49Get some rest.
12:51Okay.
12:52Okay.
12:53Fine.
12:54Okay.
12:55What a disaster.
12:56Freaking disaster.
13:01This whole thing was super out of my comfort zone.
13:04I don't even know how I made it through the day to be honest with you.
13:07And I'm still not 100% confident with what I did.
13:10I'm not 100% confident either.
13:12I'm not either.
13:13You know, I'm still cutting out my fabric when I see all these dresses already up on the mannequin.
13:18And then it hits you.
13:20You're like, I'm like, I'm really behind.
13:23Really, really, really, really behind.
13:25Yeah.
13:26It's such a sick feeling.
13:27Yeah, man.
13:37Weird.
13:47Look out, bro.
13:48I know.
13:49Melissa is working right beside me.
13:51And she's still putting the whole dress together.
13:54She's in a zone that she can't even, like, come up her hair.
13:57And it's making me nervous.
13:58Your bodice is here.
13:59Do you need it?
14:00Thanks.
14:01What a quiet room.
14:02How is everyone?
14:03Well, your models are coming in soon.
14:04You'll have two hours to send them to the L'Oreal Paris hair and makeup room and to prep them for the runway, all right?
14:10If there were ever a challenge for which you need to be thoughtful and strategic about the Lord and Taylor accessory wall, it's this one.
14:25All right.
14:26Thank you, everyone.
14:27I'll be back.
14:28Thank you, too.
14:29Thank you, Chris.
14:30Hi, please.
14:31Hi, please.
14:32Hi.
14:33Here fits nicely.
14:34You know, I think Chris's dress is beautiful, but I do think the top of my dress is better and more interesting.
14:40I'm gonna hold it like that.
14:41Yeah, hold it.
14:42I'm feeling like I've got it.
14:43I honestly don't even really need the pre-time that we have before runway.
14:48Come on, bitch.
14:49What am I gonna do with this all gathered?
14:51Why is this with me today?
14:53This cannot be happening right now.
14:55I still have to hem it.
14:57I still gotta put my kick pleat on.
14:59I sewed it wrong.
15:00Damn it.
15:01Just finish it.
15:02Don't worry about anything.
15:05Now, I love it with the necklace and the shoes, but I feel like you need a clutch.
15:08I feel like I have a dress that is strong enough to win again, and I'm feeling pretty good about this one.
15:20Something up, you know, something volume and curly.
15:23Okay, I got you.
15:24It doesn't have to be up.
15:26Surprise me.
15:31So I'm looking for the Andre Hepburn look.
15:35We're gonna use a little liner and tense.
15:37It's gonna give you a little tiny...
15:39Ring.
15:40In your eye?
15:43Bless your eyes.
15:44Nice.
15:45So I'm thinking of something not too bronzy, but really sophisticated looking.
15:49And then maybe a nice cat eye.
15:51Mm-hmm.
15:52Mm-hmm.
15:57You still have 30 minutes.
15:59No?
16:00No, I have 15 minutes.
16:01I haven't done this now, and then I have to redo the zipper.
16:03Are any of your models dressed?
16:07Because in 10 minutes, your models, you and I are going down to the runway designers.
16:14I'll be back.
16:15Elena, can you help me please?
16:18The room is getting very heavy.
16:21There's people trying to get things done in the last few minutes.
16:25And I see Sanji just like...
16:27Shh.
16:28Oh, you're on my table.
16:29Shh.
16:30Don't shh.
16:31It's gonna...
16:32Oh, I mean, it's fine.
16:33Shh, shh, shh, shh, shh, shh, shh, shh, shh.
16:35Sanji is, like, hysterically crying right now.
16:40Like, her dress is still not going in.
16:42Elena's helping her.
16:43It's gonna go.
16:44It's gonna go.
16:47I'm already paranoid about my last experience on the runway.
16:51And so for this to happen right now, seconds before I'm about to hit the runway again...
16:57Oh, my God.
16:58I've never freaked out this bad.
17:00It just looks like shh.
17:02Everyone's freaking out.
17:04These people that are normally very put together and on top are really struggling to get their dresses together right now.
17:09Look at all of that.
17:11Designers and models, we are going down to the runway right now.
17:14All right, everyone?
17:16Follow me, please.
17:20Sanji?
17:21Sir?
17:22Melissa?
17:23Yeah?
17:24Let's go, ladies.
17:26Great.
17:27We've gotta get down to that runway.
17:28Okay.
17:29Cool.
17:30You did it.
17:31Coming up on Project Runway.
17:33It's just so weird.
17:34I mean, don't you guys think that you can do anything?
17:36It is very expected.
17:38That almost looks like a field hockey uniform.
17:40Hello.
17:41Hi.
17:42Welcome to the runway.
17:43As you know, in fashion, one day you're in, and the next day you're out.
17:48There are nine of you here, and after tonight there will be eight.
18:03Well, as you know, it's our tenth anniversary, so in honor of that, you created evening dresses for Lorton Taylor's first ever Project Runway collection.
18:13The winner of this challenge will represent the tenth season of Project Runway, and have their dress produced and sold at Lorton Taylor and LortonTaylor.com.
18:20Fabio, you were the winner of the last challenge, so that means you cannot be eliminated today.
18:26Okay, let's meet the judges.
18:28First, we have CFDA Lifetime Achievement Award winner, Michael Kors.
18:31Hey, guys.
18:32Hi.
18:33Fashion Director for Marie Claire Magazine, Nina Garcia.
18:37Hi.
18:38And our guest judge, President of Lorton Taylor, Bonnie Brooks.
18:42Hi there.
18:43We will score your designs as they come down the runway.
18:46One of you will be named the winner, and one of you will be out.
18:50Okay, let's start the show.
18:59I'm pretty stoked. I'm really glad with what I did.
19:03I'm happy with the length, and I'm really, really pleased with the way that top is fitting.
19:10Overall, I think it's great.
19:28I am happy I stuck with this fabric.
19:30I think lacy looks gorgeous.
19:32It looks completely different from everyone else's, and it really stands out.
19:41She is chic, she is tasteful, and she looks like she could walk into any cocktail party.
20:01And just be in.
20:08My model looks like she walked out of Lorton Taylor.
20:10It's so good.
20:12I really feel like I hit this one on the head.
20:14I'm very pleased with the overall aesthetic of it.
20:26It looks beautiful from head to toe.
20:28But I'm still really worried that my dress looks way too modern for the challenge.
20:37It looks very intricate and very detailed and very expensive.
20:50She looks gorgeous.
20:51She looks gorgeous.
20:52She looks very Lorton Taylor-esque, and it's definitely a showstopper.
20:59I think she looks really cool.
21:00It looks different from the rest of the group.
21:08And I am excited about that, even though it is another dress.
21:17I see some problems in the back, the waistband.
21:32It's not matching up perfectly.
21:33It's not perfect.
21:35The silhouette is still exactly what I wanted, and the dress is still pretty, but all I can
21:47see is the imperfections.
21:49I'm very scared that, you know, this dress could possibly send me home.
22:09I'm very pleased.
22:10It's exactly what I originally wanted.
22:13It fits beautifully.
22:14It looks beautiful.
22:15I feel confident that I'll definitely be in the top three or safe.
22:35She looks amazing.
22:36The dress fits beautifully, and she gives me chills.
22:42I can totally see my dress in the windows of Lorton Taylor.
23:11If I have called your name, please step forward.
23:12Ven.
23:13Dimitri.
23:14Sanji.
23:15If I have called your name, congratulations.
23:16Your scores have qualified you to move on to the next challenge.
23:17You can leave the runway.
23:23Your scores have qualified you to move on to the next challenge.
23:26You can leave the runway.
23:40Today we have four really clear high scores and two scores that are low.
23:47One of you will be named the winner and one of you will be out.
23:53Fabio, tell us about your look.
23:59I picked a stretch crepe, which is the base of the dress,
24:03and then also the stretch tool that goes over it just to create a little bit of dimension with the dress.
24:08And I think it's very classic, so I think that was the basic thought of my dress.
24:13Fabio, you had one of the higher scores.
24:16I think that you did a really good job.
24:19I think that it's a very versatile dress, and I like that you gave it a little detail on the bottom.
24:23I think, you know, the asymmetrical thing is really tough to do well,
24:27because sometimes it just looks, I don't know, like you're Guinevere and you're in Camelot.
24:32It just could look costumey.
24:34And I think that you handled it in a way here that a lot of women would say, okay, I'll give it a try.
24:41Can I see the back again?
24:42I like what you're doing with this backwards kind of halter.
24:45Mm-hmm.
24:46To be honest with you, I think the zipper is not great, but it's well cut.
24:50It's well fitted.
24:52And the polish of how you put her together works.
24:56I think I would wear the dress.
24:57I think it's a dress that followed the Lord & Taylor brief perfectly.
25:02I think this is a dress for a customer with good taste.
25:06I like it.
25:07It's a little black dress.
25:09It's very classic, but you've managed to give it a bit of a twist with the asymmetrical hem.
25:16But here's what I love about this dress.
25:18It's a dress you could wear to work.
25:20It's a dress you could wear to go to a party.
25:22It's a dress you could make it more funky and cooler.
25:25It just has a lot of legs.
25:28Mm-hmm.
25:30Christopher, tell us about your look.
25:32I wanted to do something that was kind of stepping out of the box
25:36and take a big risk by using my texture with also, you know, this stretch crepe.
25:43The ballet pink along the block, it's really elegant and classic.
25:47And, you know, she can wear it to any event, basically.
25:52Christopher, you had one of the higher scores.
25:55I think it's a beautiful dress.
25:57You know, some people always say, oh, this color washes you out.
26:00I actually quite like that.
26:02I think it's beautiful because her skin is so white and powdery,
26:06and you kind of pick the fabric that looks like her skin color.
26:09I actually think that's quite elegant.
26:11You know, on her, it's nude.
26:13It depends on your skin tone.
26:16You know, on someone else, it's blush.
26:18I like the idea that it's a gown that looks like separates.
26:21It's kind of a T-shirt and a skirt look.
26:23It's very well made, very well crafted.
26:26But, but...
26:28No.
26:29This shredding, while it's fabulous, is like, okay, I got it.
26:34You do it well, but...
26:36This is just a subtle hint for next time.
26:38I got it, Heidi.
26:40I like the lightness of it, but I didn't think it was lightweight.
26:44Beautiful marriage of lightness and strength.
26:48I thought it looks elegant, sophisticated.
26:52I loved seeing long.
26:55Having said that, I don't think that this dress would work on many people.
27:01But I do think it would be a very nice addition to the collection
27:06that we already have for Lauren Taylor.
27:12Melissa, tell us about your look.
27:14After looking at the past designers' dresses,
27:17what really struck me was, like, the fitted silhouette.
27:20And I thought it was very classic and distinct looking.
27:22And then I wanted to add more of my touches to that kind of silhouette.
27:27Melissa, you had one of the higher scores.
27:30I think this bronze is a smart way to have kind of dark glamour.
27:36I like the neckline because I think it's surprising.
27:40Half the battle at night is from the waist up.
27:43So I like that she looks like she has this boat neck, but it's in fact strapless.
27:48You, with the asymmetry, you perhaps went a little too far.
27:54Because to me, it looks like she should have a bell hanging from her point.
27:59You know, I mean, it's too much.
28:02I want to cut it off.
28:06I think it's a stunning dress.
28:08I think it's definitely a showstopper.
28:10Any woman that can fit in a dress like that would definitely turn some heads.
28:14The first thing that I responded to was the fabric.
28:18I think this part is very dramatic.
28:20How did you make this collar stay up?
28:22It's brocades.
28:23I mean, it's really stiff, so it's able to kind of keep its place.
28:26The right fabric and the right dress.
28:28Yeah.
28:29Well, I think it's ingenious that you were able to make a strapless dress with that type of bodice treatment and shoulder treatment.
28:37I do tend to agree with the comments on the hem.
28:41I think it's an absolutely winning dress.
28:45Okay, Ganna, tell us about your look.
28:47When I came to the Lord & Taylor clientele, I'm familiar with it.
28:50One thing that you said was the generations.
28:52And I feel like this would be a dress that, depending on the length, could go to different generations.
28:56And it's chic.
28:58It's not, it is, you know, the sequins, but they're matte.
29:01I feel like it's not overdone.
29:02I tried to incorporate as much as I could with keeping the taste in it.
29:06Gunnar, you had one of the lower scores.
29:09Really?
29:10It is very expected.
29:12I mean, I've seen this sequin dress.
29:14I think you've done it very beautifully and it looks very elegant.
29:18Mm-hmm.
29:19But I've seen this dress, Gunnar, so I don't need to see it again.
29:22Okay.
29:23I think it looks like a dress that they actually carry at Lord & Taylor already.
29:28You know, the sheer kind of lace on top.
29:31It's kind of a very typical evening trick.
29:35Like, oh, she doesn't really, she wants to be bare, but she doesn't want to be bare.
29:40And it can turn a little mother of the bride, but it's kind of blah.
29:44And I think you can push yourself much further than this.
29:48Fair enough.
29:49I think you did a pretty good job also on the way the construction is.
29:54You know, it fits her really well.
29:56I mean, it has everything from the grip tape to keep this from having too much tension on it.
30:00I love your comment about many ages can wear this dress.
30:04I just think that lace is incredibly unforgiving as a fabric.
30:08So that's, I think, part of the problem with this dress is it lacks a little bit of fluidity.
30:12And I think it, therefore, it becomes maybe just a little bit stiff.
30:17Elena, tell us about your look.
30:19I wanted to mix a classic silhouette with a modern twist and make it simple and wearable and elegant.
30:28And at the same time, put in a modern edge into it, which is me.
30:34Elena, you had one of the higher scores.
30:37Oh, my God.
30:47I, it, it seems to me now this comes to a major surprise to you, or did you, you struggled with this challenge?
30:57Or you didn't believe in this dress? Or why are you reacting this way?
31:01I just, I just haven't been on top yet.
31:04And I've been struggling throughout the whole competition to create things that, you know, I would like and then you would like.
31:13And, I don't know, I, I just struggle with this challenge because I don't make these kinds of dresses usually as a designer.
31:22So, yeah.
31:25Then you should be proud, yes.
31:27But also, I think that sometimes when we've been criticizing you, you have to always think about what each challenge is for.
31:33Right.
31:34You have to think that you want to sell.
31:36I think that this is a very sellable dress.
31:38I think that a lot of women are attracted to this kind of silhouette.
31:42It's a little bit of a girlier kind of silhouette, but still hard.
31:47You kind of created this harness in there, so that makes it edgy.
31:50But otherwise, I think it's a very flirty and fun kind of a dress.
31:57The back is extraordinarily beautiful.
32:00What's the beauty about the back is that you could see the contrast and you can really notice the harness.
32:07In the front, it's less apparent.
32:09Really in front, it's very hard to see what's going on.
32:12But it's a very nice dress.
32:14I liked it very much.
32:16I find it's very French and very fun, and yet it's got an edge.
32:21It's for maybe a more specific kind of customer, but I do think that customer exists.
32:25You know, fashion is going to always be about balancing art and commerce.
32:30And you here found this dress that's this kind of yin-yang of, you know, she's nice, but she's nasty.
32:38And I think that's a good thing.
32:40This is your shining moment that you found the balance.
32:44It's not like we want to stifle you and not be creative.
32:47I love the fact that you're creative and that you take chances.
32:51But like Michael says, in a balance, because you want a business.
32:55Right.
32:58Alicia, tell us about your look.
32:59When I was looking at the collection, I thought it might be interesting to introduce a dropped waistline.
33:05Like, this kind of reminds me of a classic Chanel look, and I'm very fond of a lot of the vintage Chanel.
33:11And I also wanted to incorporate some details that sort of represent me still, you know, in a dress.
33:16Like the collar and some of the slightly contrast details.
33:20It's hard for me to do anything that's super feminine, super girly.
33:23So this is what I came up with.
33:27Alicia, you had one of the lower scores.
33:29I have to tell you, I actually think that your dress is quite pretty.
33:34What I don't like is what you just said.
33:36Why do you say that you can't do a feminine dress?
33:40Why do you say that?
33:41I mean, I can.
33:42I think I just, the details that I prefer to use don't usually come off as very feminine.
33:47It's just so weird.
33:48I mean, don't you guys think that you can do anything?
33:51Can't you do anything but put your twist to it?
33:53No?
33:54Well, that's what I was trying to do, but...
33:56Well, I liked it.
33:57I think that it's a perfectly fine, simple dress.
34:01I would have maybe not have the earrings on.
34:03I would have maybe dropped this a little lower, so she's a little bit sexier.
34:07But I can see that that is you.
34:08For me, I feel it's lost somewhere a little bit between an office dress and a cocktail dress.
34:16I think you try to deliver something different.
34:19Sadly, I think it looks a little too mature.
34:24With the collar and the drop waist, it's making it look a little dowdy.
34:29Okay.
34:30You like more tailored clothes.
34:32You're not about ruffles and bows.
34:34You're about structure.
34:36So I get the challenge.
34:38Unfortunately, you ended up with something that almost looks like, I don't know, like a field hockey uniform.
34:44Because I think even the neckline, she looks, you know, she's Amish.
34:49I mean, it's really like, ooh, don't look at me.
34:52So if you were going to go sporty, it's not sporty enough.
34:55And it's not dressy enough.
34:57I agree with what Bonnie said.
34:59It's tricky.
35:00It's tricky.
35:01Yeah.
35:02It's tricky.
35:03Okay.
35:04We've heard what you had to say.
35:05I'm going to have a little chat and then I'll call you right back.
35:08You can leave the runway.
35:10I have to say I really like this challenge and there were no real train wrecks.
35:22You didn't have anyone where you had a full implosion.
35:25All right.
35:26So why don't we talk about all of our designers and let's start with Christopher.
35:30Christopher's looks very sophisticated.
35:33Expensive.
35:34It looks expensive and I think it's something different.
35:38I mean, I love Christopher's.
35:39Do you think that this would be a dress that would sell very well?
35:42Yes.
35:43It would not sell hundreds of units.
35:45But I think it would complement the other dresses in the assortment very well.
35:48I love it.
35:49Plus, I think it's extremely good taste, that dress.
35:52I love it.
35:53I gave it a high score.
35:54I love that dress.
35:55The taste counts.
35:56I think you did a beautiful job.
35:57Yes.
35:58I think, to be honest, what is one of the most versatile dresses in terms of body,
36:03for many different women, is Fabio's.
36:05I think it's an easy dress in that, as Nina said, you can dress it up, dress it down,
36:10change accessories.
36:12I mean, I think it's a young dress.
36:13I agree.
36:14I think it's a cool dress.
36:16I mean, I have to say, no, I think it's a nice dress.
36:19I mean, look at me.
36:20I'm sitting here in a pink disco ball.
36:22I like some things that have a little bit more fun to them, more excitement.
36:27But you could make it exciting.
36:29Exactly.
36:30Melissa did a good job today, you know, which is nice.
36:33She's really cool and edgy.
36:34It was nice to see something different.
36:36I think it would look great in the window.
36:37Yeah, 100% agree with you.
36:38Hers is the most dramatic.
36:39It felt very modern.
36:41It was dramatic, yet it's wearable.
36:44Listen, this is the most dramatic Melissa's, but it's the toughest, probably, of our favorites
36:52to sell.
36:53I think so.
36:54Okay, let's talk about Elena's dress.
36:56She was really surprised today that she was in the high scores.
37:01The harness had the edge, the cutouts in the back had the bite, but she applied her taste in a different way.
37:08That it wasn't scary to a lot of women.
37:10I think she did a great job.
37:11I don't think it's a dress for a 45-year-old woman.
37:14You know, I could see an older woman who's into the arts wearing it.
37:18Yeah.
37:19Good too, Michael.
37:20The harness was cool.
37:21It's actually the first time where I actually really loved something that she did.
37:26Let's talk about Gunner.
37:28I know you guys didn't really love that dress.
37:30I quite liked it.
37:31I wrote nice but bland.
37:33I thought it was boring.
37:35I'm sorry.
37:36I've seen this dress in every price point.
37:38I just feel that it probably isn't special enough to be in a window.
37:45Very pretty little dress though.
37:46It's nothing that anyone's going to remember.
37:48That's the problem.
37:49Next, let's talk about Alicia's dress.
37:51It bothers me a little bit when I hear her say that she can't do that.
37:56She can't do anything sexy.
37:59She could have made, you know, something tailored and it still could have felt sexy.
38:04Lots of things I think a tailored type of designer could have done in this challenge.
38:09You could have fixed it and I thought it was interesting that she did that sporty collar.
38:13Yeah.
38:14There was an evening shape.
38:15There was something.
38:16I mean, I like contradictions.
38:17So there was something in that contradiction that I found interesting.
38:20Yeah.
38:21So she had something there.
38:23It's just you have to push it.
38:26Yeah.
38:27Okay.
38:28So we've made our decision.
38:29Okay.
38:30Let's bring them back out.
38:35We're gonna let's do that.
38:36Let's do that.
38:38Next we're a little more famous on the top two.
38:39Designers.
38:40We all think that you did a good job on this challenge.
38:42One of you will be the winner of this challenge and have your dress produced and sold at Lord
38:49& Taylor and on LordAndTaylor.com and one of you will be out.

41:36going to be working in teams of three what oh Tim the court fashion design we need money for fabric
41:44what did I do in my past life to deserve this are you okay you're a little weird drama central I don't
