00:01Previously on Project Runway for this challenge I'd like you to create a look
00:05for my line truly scrumptious for babies. We all screwed. Wait what? You have to
00:12take care of those babies. Shut up! You needed to have a baby so you can think
00:16about making functional clothes. This is gonna be a day of health. It looks like
00:20it's carrying a backpack. Where's the fun fact gonna be? Now you have to come up
00:25with something good underneath. You don't like it? No. I'm so in trouble.
00:33Sanji, you are one of the winners of this challenge. Christopher, you are also a
00:39winner. Thank you guys. It looks a little bit like a baby sample sale. I think
00:45there's no practicality to this whatsoever. Elena, you're out.
00:53Welcome to Season 10 of Project Runway. The winner of Project Runway will
00:58receive $50,000 in technology and office space from HP and Intel to bring their
01:03creativity to life and run their business. A fashion spread in Marie Claire
01:06magazine. A 2013 Lexus GS 350. $100,000 from Laurel Paris to start their own line. And the
01:15chance to design and sell an exclusive collection at Lord & Taylor. The model
01:20paired with the winner of Project Runway will receive a fashion spread in
01:23Marie Claire magazine and $25,000 from Laurel Paris Everstyle.
01:27I can't believe this is the last challenge. Right? It's almost done. Well, congratulations.
01:37Bye, Atlas. Hi, everybody. Hi, Heidi. I can't believe that we started with 16 of you. And now we're down to the top five. How does it feel?
01:59Great. Amazing? Yes. Exhausting? Yes. But fantastic. We're down to our final challenge. And this one will determine who will go to New York Fashion Week.
02:16For this challenge, I'm sending you to a far, far, far away place where you will meet Tim and a guest. And they will fill you in on all of the details. Good luck to all of you. And I'll see you back here on the runway. Bye. Bye. Thank you.
02:33What is this? I start to see, like, a little bit of a garden with a fountain and statues and a castle. And this place is insane.
02:56Good morning, designers, and welcome to O'Hika Castle. I'm delighted to introduce you to Billy B., consulting makeup artist for L'Oreal Paris.
03:08Billy's going to help you with the makeup for this challenge, which is, of course, essential to the overall look that you present. So welcome, Billy.
03:14Thanks, Tim.
03:15So, designers, we brought you here because we want these incredible surroundings to serve as part of the inspiration for you for this challenge.
03:22And the other part of your inspiration is a new line of L'Oreal Paris limited edition makeup. Billy's going to tell us about it.
03:29We at L'Oreal Paris are very excited to showcase our new makeup line called Electric Fantasy.
03:35The four leading ladies include the enchanted queen, who is both powerful and bewitching, with notes of black and berry, the seductive temptress, who is one part charming with shades of gold, and the other venomous in deep Bordeaux.
03:50Yeah, we like that.
03:50Next, we have the wise mystic, who will mesmerize you with both violets and blues.
03:57And lastly, the artsy muse, who will allure you in pastels and coral.
04:01Wonderful and very inspiring.
04:03Each of you will have one of these leading ladies to serve as your muse for this challenge.
04:08You will be creating an avant-garde look for your muse.
04:13Avant-garde means new. It means experimental.
04:16So this is your opportunity to really wow the judges.
04:19So in order to determine who your muse will be, I'm going to choose your names out of our button bag.
04:25So who will be working with the enchanted queen?
04:29It's going to be Fabio.
04:31All right.
04:32Next, we have the seductive temptress.
04:35Sanji, you feeling seductive and tempting?
04:38Hey.
04:38Next, we have the wise mystic, Dimitri.
04:42And then we have the artsy muse, and that is Melissa.
04:47So Christopher, being last is actually quite a blessing.
04:50You can pick any of these leading ladies.
04:53Who do you want?
04:54I'll take the enchanted queen.
04:56All right.
04:56You will have 45 minutes to sketch.
04:58Then we're going shopping at Mood, where you'll have a budget of $400.
05:01And you have two days for this challenge.
05:05This challenge determines who among you is going forward to New York Fashion Week.
05:09So really step it up.
05:12So, Billy, thank you so much.
05:13And designers, your sketching time starts now.
05:17Have fun.
05:23My avant-garde look will be created for Wise Mystic.
05:28So I'm playing with the makeup, and I actually love the colors.
05:33When I think of seductive temptress, I'm thinking something very sexy looking.
05:38She's wearing something very form-fitting, something a little revealing.
05:42I picked the enchanted queen, and as I'm looking through the color palette, it's very dark,
05:48and I'm taking it as she's an evil villain.
05:51I have the artsy muse, so I'm really focusing how I can use this coral color,
05:58this nail polish, and then this blue that is the color of the eyeshadow that I'm really drawn to.
06:04I am portraying an image of, like, a queen that is really strong on the outside,
06:08but she is really frail on the inside.
06:11Designers, sketching time's up.
06:13So gather around, and we're going off to Mood.
06:15All right, designers, you have your $400 budget, and your 45-minute starts now.
06:26All right, designers, time is up.
06:29Everyone needs to be at the counter now.
06:34All right, so let's head back to Parsons.
06:36Thank you, Mood.
06:38All right, designers, you have until 10.30 tonight, and all day tomorrow, all right?
06:49Your L'Oreal Paris makeup consultations will be tomorrow,
06:53and I will be coming back later today to check in with you, okay?
06:58Thank you, Jim.
07:00Uh-oh, uh-oh, uh-oh, uh-oh, uh-oh.
07:02I don't know.
07:03My gold fabric's missing.
07:05The gold LeMay fabric that I really wanted is not in my Mood bag.
07:10Oh, my God.
07:11I think she's in trouble.
07:12Oh!
07:13Our challenge is to create an avant-garde look inspired by L'Oreal Electric Fantasy Line.
07:36My gold fabric's missing.
07:38I have five yards of that.
07:40You don't have another bag?
07:41No, I only have one bag.
07:44Hi.
07:45Hi, Tim.
07:46Hi.
07:46Are you all busy working?
07:48Very busy.
07:49All right, well, I'm here just to check in with you and see how you are.
07:52You know you have two days for this, but I don't want to appear tomorrow
07:54and suddenly find something that I feel we should have talked about earlier.
07:58So I'm here to help.
08:00Melissa, you look deep in thought.
08:02How are you?
08:03Yeah, just kind of breaking it down per garment.
08:05How would you describe the avant-garde qualities?
08:09I'm going to make a really round high collar with the blue leather.
08:12And I think combining this and this is just going to be, I mean, it's just unusual to me.
08:16So.
08:16You have until 10.30 tonight.
08:18Where do you think you'll be at that point?
08:20Time is at three.
08:20What time is it?
08:21Five?
08:21Yeah.
08:22It's after five.
08:23Already?
08:23What I'm doing here is making this very, very tight on top and then adding structure down here.
08:31And then it would, like, trump it out and be really long.
08:35Dimitri, how are you in the wise mystic?
08:37I don't know yet.
08:39Really?
08:39I mean, I'm making a jacket for sure.
08:42Okay.
08:42What's special about this jacket is the construction of the sleeve.
08:45I want to make it triangular.
08:47It's pretty innovative, I think.
08:48And it's great for this challenge because where else are you going to make a sleeve like this?
08:53I would be very concerned about hinging all of the avant-garde on this.
09:01Hi, Fabio.
09:02How's your enchanted queen?
09:03Um, she's coming along.
09:05I really like the direction that the coat is going.
09:07I don't think I need a lot on it.
09:09I think it will take away from the actual shape.
09:13Can I be really honest?
09:14Yes, please.
09:15I need to be.
09:15The coat is looking borderline costume, and I say that because it looks like it's stepped out of the past.
09:23All right, now that I've completely screwed your head up, I'm going to leave you.
09:27Oh, that's great.
09:28I know you'll keep your eye on it.
09:29Um, I will step away from it right now, and I'll come back to it.
09:33Thank you, Fabio.
09:34Thank you, Tim.
09:38Santi, why are you just standing here?
09:41I think I am kind of, not stuck, but I feel like it has to read very, you know, a lot more, like...
09:49You're the last five designers.
09:51I believe you've been holding back.
09:53I believe you haven't been giving it your all.
09:56I just know there's so much more in you.
09:58You've got to get it out.
10:00All right?
10:02You're right.
10:03All right, designers, you all know that you each have a lot of work to do, and the clock is ticking.
10:09And on those words, I'm leaving you.
10:22All right, guys, it's time.
10:2510.30.
10:38How are you?
10:40It looks like you're changing your design.
10:43This idea came to me yesterday.
10:44Like, it really fell with the concept.
10:48Hi, everyone.
10:49Very quiet in here.
10:50It's very serious in here, let me tell you.
10:52So, everyone, I have Billy B, consulting makeup artist for L'Oreal Paris, and he's here to start your makeup consultations, all right?
11:02So, tell me who your muse is again.
11:04I'm doing the Enchanted Queen.
11:05This collection is very smoky.
11:09It looks great.
11:11You are...
11:13The seductive temptress.
11:15There's a lot of greens and gold in the collection I wanted.
11:18Well, let's talk about this.
11:19I think if you have so much green in the dress, I'm thinking to stay in the more bronzes and golds, right?
11:26Yeah.
11:26So, it's good?
11:27Yeah, it's good.
11:28All right, good.
11:28That was easy.
11:29So, remind me, you are...
11:32Uh, wise mystic.
11:33The wise mystic.
11:34It's so me, you know.
11:35Yes.
11:35With this collection, there's a lot of color.
11:39Then the lip is really fabulous.
11:41It's lavender, sheer.
11:43I think it's really pretty.
11:44Very.
11:45I have the Enchanted Queen.
11:46I'm thinking that we don't go so dark with the eye.
11:49Okay.
11:49That we keep it soft.
11:50I really like that.
11:52Melissa, the artsy muse.
11:53I really took inspiration from the nail polish.
11:56So, I was thinking, why not go more pastel then?
11:59Right.
11:59Cool.
12:00All right.
12:00All right.
12:00Hello, everyone.
12:08How are you?
12:09Fantastic.
12:11So, Fabio.
12:12Hi, Tim.
12:13You had an epiphany.
12:14How did you take that heavy, flat coat and turn it into something that's buoyant and sculptural?
12:22I turned it upside down.
12:24Is that really what you did?
12:25And it's actually two coats, so it is reversible on an avant-garde.
12:28I'm crazy about it.
12:30Melissa.
12:31Hi.
12:31How are you?
12:32Good.
12:32How are you?
12:33I'm good.
12:34Do you have any concerns?
12:35Of course.
12:36Time.
12:38Do you have a schedule?
12:39Yeah.
12:40All right.
12:40I'm going to leave you there and work on your list.
12:42Mm-hmm.
12:44Sanji, talk to me.
12:45I kept more of the detail and the avant-gardness, in my opinion.
12:49But you're using this illusion so that it appears that these pieces are floating?
12:53Exactly.
12:54And then, from the back, it still will read very bare and, like, almost like as if there's nothing
12:59there.
12:59I mean, I see the avant-garde.
13:02Your challenge is to keep it from looking like a student project.
13:06All right, Sanji.
13:07All right.
13:07Thank you, Tim.
13:09How is Christopher?
13:10Hi.
13:10Good.
13:11How are you?
13:11I'm good.
13:12I see an 1890s dress.
13:16So, I'm going to ask you, what's avant-garde?
13:19I mean, this shape.
13:23How?
13:24Because nobody wants to make their hips look bigger.
13:27This is really difficult.
13:29It's beautifully executed, but I'm at a bit of a loss about where the avant-garde is.
13:36Dimitri.
13:38Hi, Tim.
13:39This is exquisitely made, but what is avant-garde?
13:45Well, I think it's pretty innovative.
13:48I've never done anything like this.
13:50But you're saying you haven't done it, but have the judges seen anything like this?
13:54Overall, you don't think it's avant-garde enough.
13:57All right, let me put it this way.
13:58If this were a ready-to-wear challenge, I'd be thrilled.
14:20That looks like it fits.
14:23Fantastic.
14:26This quarrel's really you.
14:28See you tomorrow.
14:29Bye.
14:34All right, guys.
14:35It's 11 o'clock.
14:37Got to go home.
14:43Bye.
14:45Bye.
14:46We're coming.
14:46Bye.
14:53Sanjee, do you need a coffee?
15:02Uh, sure.
15:04This is actually really it.
15:06So it does become real.
15:07It's kind of a bittersweet moment.
15:10All right, goodbye, Atlas.
15:11Bye, Atlas.
15:13It's been real.
15:14Let's go, guys.
15:15Thank you, Atlas.
15:16Bye, Atlas.
15:17Damn.
15:31Good morning, designers.
15:33Good morning, team.
15:34It's the runway show for your last challenge.
15:36It's very exciting.
15:38And later today, we'll know who among you is moving forward to New York Fashion Week.
15:42It's the L'Oreal Paris Makeup Challenge, so you have additional time in makeup and in hair this morning, all right?
15:48And use the Lord and Taylor Wall very thoughtfully, and I will be back to check in with you a little later.
15:56All right?
15:56All right.
15:57Thank you, Tim.
16:03Hey, Miss Hannah.
16:14Just like volume.
16:16Just sexy, temptress, seductive hair.
16:18So to get that shine, what I'm going to do is use the EverStyle Smooth and Shine Cream and serum.
16:28That gold around the eye was so beautiful, but I still want a little bit more lash to show.
16:32Okay, excellent.
16:33Thanks.
16:34So it's just going to be that very strong lip.
16:37So you just use the silver one and then the lighter one on the top of the brow.
16:41Gorgeous.
16:41Gorgeous.
16:49Designers and models, we're going down to the runway.
16:52So everyone, follow me, please.
16:55This doesn't look like it's going to happen, but it needs to.
16:58Designers and models, Melissa, Fabio, coming.
17:02Designers and models, we're going down to the runway.
17:16Hello.
17:17Hello.
17:18Welcome to the runway.
17:19As you know, in fashion, one day you're in, and the next day you're out.
17:23Tonight, we will decide who will create collections and compete at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Lincoln Center.
17:32For this challenge, you were inspired by a leading lady from the new L'Oreal Paris makeup line and your surroundings at O'Hika Castle.
17:41You were to create an avant-garde look and really push the boundaries because we gave you two days, $400 to put your look together.
17:49And I'm very excited to see your designs tonight.
17:51Okay, let's meet the judges.
17:52First, we have CFDA Lifetime Achievement Award winner, Michael Kors.
17:57Hey, everyone.
17:58Hi.
17:59Fashion director for Marie Claire Magazine, Nina Garcia.
18:02Hi.
18:02Hi, everyone.
18:04And our guest judge for today, co-founder of myfdb.com, Zoe Silvana.
18:10Welcome.
18:10Hi.
18:11We will score your designs as they come down the runway.
18:14One of you will be named the winner, and one or more of you will be out.
18:20Okay, let's start the show.
18:22She just looks awesome.
18:32The cuts in the skirt are really unique, and adding that coral lining is really different, and it really makes the look even better.
18:39I nailed an artsy muse.
18:48It's basically me out there on the runway.
18:51I am feeling really confident.
19:01It's so beautiful, and at the same time, it is avant-garde.
19:10The way that that coat is catching the light, but at the same time, there's a lot of shadow.
19:14It's just poetic and beautiful to me.
19:17I just hope that the judges are feeling the same way right now.
19:20My model looks so strong, and the structure of the suit gives her this powerful, edgy look.
19:34I stay true to myself, and I pushed my construction.
19:42I think this is one of my best pieces I've ever made.
19:47I think she looks absolutely beautiful.
19:58I love the way it's just flowing on her.
20:01The skirt is falling beautifully as she's walking down the runway.
20:05I couldn't ask for anything better.
20:06I feel like this dress is such a representation of who I am as a designer.
20:16Beautiful.
20:25She's walking gorgeously.
20:27She looks perfect.
20:31She has her hands on her hips at the end of the runway, showing off those feathers.
20:36I want to change one thing.
20:53First, I have to say, we were really impressed with this fashion show.
20:56Good job.
20:58We will talk to all of you tonight to determine who will compete at New York Fashion Week.
21:04And one or more of you will be out.
21:13Designers, one or more of you will be out.
21:18All right, let's bring out your models.
21:24Sanji, we're going to start with you.
21:26Tell us about your leading lady and what you've designed.
21:29You know, my woman being the seductive temptress, automatically thought of Adam and Eve.
21:33I went with something sexy, but still not overtly sexy where, like, all of her body was out.
21:39So, yeah.
21:40I love the color.
21:42I can see many stars wearing this dress on the red carpet.
21:46From the back, too, to have the back all the way down.
21:49I think it's great.
21:50The only thing that bothers me a little bit is the mesh.
21:52I wish it would match her color a little bit more.
21:55You know, it is a little bit too light.
21:57What do you think, Nina?
21:59I have a few problems with this dress.
22:01You have seductive temptress.
22:04And I feel like green is the color of envy.
22:07But it's a very unexpected color.
22:09And that's what I kind of like about it.
22:10Unfortunately, to me, it looks like an ice skating costume that, you know, Nancy Kerrigan skated through a banquet hall.
22:18Her front and back dog...
22:19It feels incomplete.
22:20It just makes me feel like it's sort of like an unfinished, that you ran out of time.
22:25See that piece that's draping from her right boob to past her waistline?
22:30It's like a napkin, like a table napkin that fell on her.
22:33It literally looks like the banquet, you know, just blew all over her.
22:37Tablecloth is her skirt.
22:38Napkin here.
22:38Napkin here.
22:39And then she turns around in the back.
22:42There's not a woman I know who would want that much of that Spanx-y fabric showing in the back.
22:49And I don't think it looks avant-garde at all.
22:52No, I think the avant-garde idea that she had was to show her nude as if she is not wearing anything.
22:59That was the whole idea, that it looks as if, like, she's not really wearing anything.
23:02And I love the, you know, a bare woman's back.
23:05That's not a really bare back.
23:06That's like an old lady, like, would say, look, I want to wear a bare back dress, but I'm going to cover it with tulle.
23:13It may not read avant-garde to you, but this whole look to me read very avant-garde.
23:18I don't think it's avant-garde, and I don't think anyone would wear it on the red carpet.
23:22I guess we have a difference of opinions.
23:26Thank you, Sanji.
23:27Christopher, you had the enchanted queen.
23:30I petted her here, so it would give her a really great hourglass shape, and took this overlay really deep, showing the corseted back.
23:39And I really enjoy this look.
23:41Michael, what do you think?
23:43Well, I think that the makeup's gorgeous.
23:45I like the texture of it.
23:46I think the eye makeup's very cool.
23:48Thanks.
23:49It's a little goth Victorian to me, you know?
23:52It's kind of what I was going for, but trying not to make it a costume.
23:56And you have a few things that get her into costume territory.
24:00To me, she looks like she has hairy forearms.
24:02They're crazy.
24:04I mean, those are...
24:05I thought that this was really cool, especially when she does...
24:07Oh, I think they're cuckoo.
24:09You just said it.
24:09You didn't want to go costume.
24:11Well, this is going costume.
24:13In general, she's very lean and tall.
24:16So I think you were smart to pad her hip, but quite frankly, I would have loved to have seen some construction in the bust.
24:24I think you tried too many ideas in one dress.
24:27No, I agree.
24:28But I think there's a lot of great things on there.
24:29I love the back of this dress.
24:31Yes, I agree.
24:33The back is beautiful.
24:34It's so pretty.
24:35Absolutely beautiful.
24:36I love how you place the feathers, and it gives a kind of V.
24:40I think the back is better than the front.
24:42You have the idea there.
24:43This was kind of like, oh, your first try.
24:46And it's hard.
24:47I mean, listen, it's a couture dress in two days.
24:50I know that.
24:51It's just, I don't know, she's deflated a little to me.
24:54All righty.
24:56Dimitri, you had wise mystic.
25:00My wise mystic, she lives in the castle.
25:02And I was trying to combine the historical elements of the castle and historical elements of the clothing with the modern day clothing and architecture.
25:14I think this is amazing.
25:17I see some angles here that I haven't seen before.
25:19I think this looks good from any angle.
25:22I love how you show this peekaboo down the side of the leg.
25:25And the fit of this is crazy good.
25:27Those sleeves are stunning.
25:29I think you are a brilliant, Taylor.
25:32I think you think about all of the lines, what they're going to do to a woman's body.
25:37The only thing that's troubling me, the shoulder's a little costumey to me.
25:43They're too out.
25:44They're too far out.
25:45The neck's a little vampire-a.
25:47You don't need all this at her neck.
25:49I mean, it's distracting, if anything.
25:51The details are so incredible.
25:55I think this is impeccable work.
25:58Thank you, guys.
26:00Fabio, you had the enchanted queen.
26:04I wanted to give this queen a very conflicted image and a very conflicted soul.
26:10And the jacket is reversible on a different and exciting way that it fits upside down.
26:14I think the jacket's fantastic.
26:17I mean, great.
26:18I love the way it's cut.
26:21Where you've lost me is this palazzo pant.
26:24I looked at her from there up, and I was like, ooh, that's so Fabio.
26:29And then all of a sudden, the pants, they're a little mom-ish.
26:34I have to say, I didn't respond to this look at all.
26:37To me, she just looks like she's going to a funeral.
26:40It's not flattering.
26:41I don't see the beauty in it, you know?
26:43I just see sadness in a way.
26:45Okay.
26:46I don't know.
26:47I think a lot of fashion editors would wear the jacket with a pair of skinny black pants.
26:51Would you?
26:51Am I crazy?
26:52No.
26:52The jacket is absolutely gorgeous.
26:55And the fact that you could turn it around and wear it both ways, I thought was fantastic.
27:01What happens when you turn it around?
27:03Do you want to see it?
27:04Yeah.
27:04How's the proportion changed?
27:07Look.
27:10Different shoulder.
27:11Different shoulder.
27:12Different armhole.
27:12Different everything.
27:13I actually like it this way around better, to be honest.
27:15Me too.
27:16I really appreciate you guys taking the time to take a look at it.
27:18Melissa, you had the artsy muse.
27:23I immediately started thinking of Edie Sedgwick and Andy Warhol and my mind was drawn to this
27:29more modern take on muses and looking at the color palette by L'Oreal, there was these nail polishes that were these deep corals and turquoise peacock blue.
27:37And so I thought I would do more of the bold colors for the look and then do the pastels for the face.
27:45I love it.
27:47I think it looks great.
27:48I think the color combo is terrific.
27:51I think the idea of separates is thrilling.
27:56You actually have a very good hand for leather.
27:59And when I look at the skirt shape, can I see the back?
28:02Yeah.
28:03The skirt's interesting and flattering.
28:06Yes.
28:07When it turned the corner at first, I knew quickly it was yours, but then I was like, wow, she must have been scared doing all this color.
28:16Because I know for you, dust is a color.
28:19And you handled it well.
28:22I love the vest.
28:23I love the drama of that collar.
28:25She's an artsy muse and I get it.
28:28I'm not crazy about the length of your skirt.
28:31I think it's a little too long.
28:33But I love the fact that it's cut and you can see some leg.
28:36All in all, I liked it.
28:39I don't know which outfit is uglier, Fabio's or yours.
28:44It's close.
28:45Sorry.
28:45And I'm shocked that you two love this so much.
28:48I love it.
28:50And you have two that love it too.
28:51So that's good for you.
28:53You have three.
28:54I really love it.
28:56And it's completely avant-garde, but you took it very futuristic.
29:00You worked with challenging fabrics and you still managed to make her flattering.
29:04It's art.
29:05It's really beautiful.
29:09Models, we're going to talk to the designers.
29:11You can leave the runway.
29:17Melissa, why should you go to Fashion Week?
29:19Because it's my dream.
29:21That's all I can picture happening for myself.
29:23I really just want to launch my career as a designer.
29:26And which two designers should go with you?
29:29I would love to see Sanji there.
29:30I think she has a fantastic hand with tailoring and draping.
29:34And I also think Fabio has a very distinct style.
29:37And I think that says a lot.
29:39Okay.
29:41Fabio, why do you deserve to go to Fashion Week?
29:43Being here on the show, it made me really sure of how loud I want to speak.
29:49And just being able to have that affection show, I think I'll just scream.
29:55And which two designers should go with you?
29:57I would love to share this experience with Melissa.
30:00I love her design aesthetic.
30:01And I think that Chris is also a great designer.
30:05And I think that he would complement the two of us really well on the runway.
30:09Okay.
30:10Dimitri, why do you deserve to go to Fashion Week?
30:13And who should go with you?
30:14Since I was a kid, I had a dream to make it in the fashion industry.
30:19And I'm more than ready.
30:23I would want to see Fabio and Chris.
30:27They both have very different and strong aesthetics.
30:31Okay.
30:32Christopher.
30:33I've been studying fashion for a really long time.
30:36And I feel like it's the perfect opportunity to make, you know, a dream to come to reality.
30:43I would want to see Fabio, Dimitri, and I as well.
30:49Okay.
30:50Sanji.
30:50You know, for me, like, my mom taught me how to sew.
30:54I can't believe I'm getting teary-eyed.
30:56Designing clothes has always just been, like, by everything.
30:59I've never even thought of doing anything else.
31:02It means everything to me.
31:04I deserve to be, you know, I deserve to be, you know, the next big American designer.
31:08I'll definitely take Melissa with me.
31:10I really appreciate her design aesthetic.
31:12Construction's really important to me.
31:14So, the other person is Dimitri.
31:16I think he has very good construction skills.
31:18You know, I think he deserves to go, and I think he would show something great.
31:22Okay.
31:23We've heard what all of you had to say.
31:25We have a lot to talk about.
31:27And this is a big decision.
31:28You can leave the runway, and I call you back in a little bit.
31:31Thank you very much.
31:38This is going to be really difficult today, because I really believe that all five designers
31:43have been really great on this season.
31:45I agree with you.
31:46I think this is a tough one.
31:47So, since we all pretty much disagree on what the designers did today, we really have to go
31:53back and think about a lot of the designs that they have done in the past.
31:56If I think about Melissa, for example, like the Marie Claire at Work Challenge, you know,
32:01she did this beautiful dress that we loved.
32:04When we started in Times Square, she had this beautiful, long, gray dress, leather jacket.
32:09I love all the work she does with leather.
32:12Yeah.
32:12I think what was interesting today, she's got a little bit of a rock and roll vibe without
32:17being too obvious.
32:18Yeah.
32:19She managed to make a leather vest in a very challenging color as well, and it all sort of worked.
32:25Yeah.
32:26She's used color and used it well.
32:28Yes, she did.
32:28In several episodes.
32:29For all we know, her whole collection could be neon.
32:32That could be amazing.
32:33Yeah.
32:33You know, so I think that she's got more to her than summing it up as, you know, a biker
32:38chick.
32:38Let's talk about Sanji.
32:40I remember the HP challenge.
32:42Those great pants.
32:43The pants were great.
32:44She did a beautiful black top that had this drape all the way down the back that we loved.
32:48She's a really good tailor also.
32:51She did a beautiful jacket that we loved.
32:53I think she's consistent in her respect for a woman's body.
32:58Even today's gown, which I did not care for, when she turned around, the way it cupped her
33:03ass, great.
33:05But we still cannot pinpoint what her aesthetic is.
33:09With Sanji, we necessarily wouldn't be always 100% yes, that is a Sanji, even though she has
33:15them beautiful clothes.
33:16Let's talk about Christopher.
33:18His clothes, to me, they're kind of like streamlined femininity.
33:23He likes, you know, detailing on the fabric, all of that.
33:26A lot of details.
33:27Beautiful detailing on the fabric.
33:28Think about Rockettes.
33:30He wore just, oh, the way the skyline was done.
33:34Beautiful.
33:34Do you remember this gown that he did where he manipulated the fabric and he cut all these
33:38little candles?
33:39Yes.
33:39Had it moved.
33:40The lightness of that gown was exquisite.
33:44Today, quite frankly, a constructed ball gown, I think was very ambitious, too ambitious.
33:51I think he tried very hard to impress us, and in trying that hard, he had too many ideas
33:57in one design.
34:00But he's taken risks, he's given us beautiful work, and beautifully presented.
34:07Let's talk about Dimitri.
34:08What he gave us today, I would wear it, I would wear it separately, I would wear it together.
34:13How perfect was this jacket?
34:15What he did today is crazy good.
34:17Everything he makes is so meticulously telling.
34:21It looks like it came from the store.
34:22A million bucks.
34:23Yes, it does look like it came from the store.
34:25Think about the candy dress that he made.
34:27Oh, the candy dress was beautiful.
34:28I love the candy dress.
34:29The candy dress was moving, and it was flirty.
34:32It was kind of beaded, like very Josephine Baker.
34:34It was beautiful.
34:36We also love the Rockettes.
34:37He almost won that challenge.
34:39He's a very serious guy.
34:41His clothes are very serious.
34:43He needs to play a little with the heart and the song.
34:47They always have a whip in their hand, those girls.
34:49His girls are very severe.
34:51It's a one-trick pony.
34:53That's my hesitation about Dimitri.
34:57Does he have range?
34:58I think his craftsmanship is so strong, I think he can handle it.
35:03Fabio.
35:04Out of all of our designers, you don't have to ask him to be avant-garde.
35:08He's playing with proportion.
35:10He's playing with gender roles.
35:12I mean, this guy is thinking outside the box.
35:14I think he's conceptual.
35:16I think he is androgynous, and he's very articulate.
35:20Which things can we remember?
35:21This is the only problem that I have.
35:24I don't have a lot of hits that just jump into my head right now.
35:30Actually, one of my favorite things that he did was the makeover.
35:34She had, like, this really cool gray dress, and it was kind of color-blocking.
35:38Patched, patched.
35:39He was able to put her in a dress.
35:40Put her in a dress, but not make her feel uncomfortable or too feminine.
35:44He was very thoughtful.
35:45I think he proved with Lord & Taylor that he understands reality.
35:49This dress, though, it was a little black dress.
35:52But the way it was cut, it had just enough kick without being too full.
35:56He cut it so he put the chiffon and the jersey together.
35:59Yeah, it was beautiful, but it was a little bit basic.
36:01Today, you slapped his hand because you said it was too weird.
36:04And then when he does something wearable, you're beating him up.
36:07Too basic.
36:08Too basic.
36:09Too weird.
36:10Today, you told an avant-garde designer it's the avant-garde challenge.
36:13Well, guess what?
36:14That was avant-garde.
36:15He went for it.
36:15That was avant-garde.
36:16He went for it.
36:17Mm-hmm.
36:17So this is a really big decision.
36:20Are we sure this is who we want to see more from?
36:24Okay, let's bring them back out.
36:31Designers, some of you will be invited to come back and design for New York Fashion Week.
36:42And one or more of you will be out.
36:51Designers, this was a very difficult decision.
36:53And all of you are here for a reason.
36:59You have distinctive points of view.
37:01And we would be proud to have any of you show at Fashion Week.
37:05But this is Project Runway.
37:07And one or more of you will be out.
37:13Christopher.
37:17You're in.
37:18You're coming back.
37:20You're designing for New York Fashion Week.
37:21Congratulations.
37:22Guys.
37:24Aw.
37:25Thank you so much for seeing what I have to offer and loving it.
37:29Congratulations.
37:30You can leave the runway.
37:32I'm so happy and proud of myself that I made it this far.
37:35And I really do want to be the winner of Season 10 of Project Runway.
37:39And I will show you at Fashion Week that I deserve it.
37:46Dimitri.
37:48You, too, will go to New York Fashion Week.
37:51Oh, wow.
37:52Oh, wow.
37:53You're also the winner of this challenge.
37:55Thank you very much for believing in me and giving me this amazing opportunity.
38:00You're in.
38:01You can leave the runway.
38:02Good luck, guys.
38:04Growing up in Belarus, I always had big dreams.
38:07But I didn't really have opportunities.
38:10And I had a lot of twists and turns.
38:13But I never let go of my dreams.
38:16Oh, man.
38:18I'm so excited to go to Fashion Week.
38:22If you really, really have a dream and you really, really want it, it's going to happen.
38:30Melissa.
38:34Congratulations.
38:35You're coming back to New York.
38:36Thank you so much.
38:38I don't know how to cry or scream.
38:42You're in.
38:42You can eat the runway.
38:43Thank you very much.
38:45I get to make a collection for Fashion Week.
38:47And this is what I've always wanted.
38:53Fabio.
38:54Sanji, one of you will be out.
38:59As you know, our opinions were divided today.
39:03Fabio, you're very conceptual.
39:06And a very thoughtful designer.
39:08There's often something very unexpected in your design, which we really like.
39:13Today, we had mixed reactions to your avant-garde look.
39:17Especially me.
39:22Sanji, you have beautiful craftsmanship and polish.
39:26You really understand how to design for a woman's body.
39:29But sometimes your style was inconsistent.
39:33Today, I loved your dress.
39:35But some of the other judges disagreed.
39:40Fabio.
39:48You're in.
39:52And we are very curious as to what kind of collection you will design for New York Fashion Week.
40:00You're in.
40:01You can eat the runway.
40:03Now that I've made it this far, now that I'm coming back for Fashion Week, it's out of control.
40:08Like, I can't wrap my head around it.
40:12Sanji, I'm sorry.
40:14That means you're out.
40:15Okay.
40:15It's been such a pleasure watching you grow as a designer.
40:19And we know that you have a bright future ahead of you in fashion.
40:23Thank you, guys.
40:26I'll be there already.
40:28Bye.
40:29Bye, guys.
40:29Good luck.
40:31It was really important to me to come here and just show the world that I am a great designer.
40:37For me to be able to get that from this experience means everything.
40:41Yes.
40:42Okay.
40:43Okay.
40:44No, I'm not.
40:46You're lying.
40:47You're lying.
40:47No, I wish I was, seriously.
40:49But I feel great about what I made and, you know, I'm happy and I'm happy for all you guys.
40:54This is a very rocky road and I'm glad that I drove along it and that I made it all the way to the end.
41:00How is everybody?
41:02How is everybody?
41:03I'm happy and sad.
41:04Look, you've made it all the way to the end.
41:05I'm sad.
41:06Look.
41:07You've made it till the end.
41:08It had to be one of you.
41:09Sanji, I have to send you to the workroom to clean up your space.
41:11I know.
41:12Uncle Tim.
41:13You're a doll.
41:14You're a doll.
41:16And we're going to hear a lot more from you.
41:17Absolutely.
41:18Bye, guys.
41:19Okay, Sanji.
41:20Bye.
41:21Best wishes.
41:23I have so much more to offer as a designer and I know that I'll be at Fashion Week one day
41:27and it won't be because I have to share a stage with anyone else.
41:33Next time on Project Runway, you are not guaranteed a spot in a final three.
41:38And I will be coming to check in on you.
41:41I think it's too sweet.
41:42Do you like the color?
41:44No.
41:45Now I'm completely baffled and confused.
41:48Oh, my God.
41:49Oh, my God.
41:51Holy .
41:52I have no idea what to show.
41:53I just don't know if I push myself hard enough.
41:56Insanely ugly.
41:57Just crazy ugly.
41:58That's a little creepy.
41:59They're rough.
42:00This is it before Fashion Week.
42:03They need to be perfect.
42:08This one has been done?
42:09No one has been done?
42:11I can't believe it.
42:12I mean, you know.
42:13I mean, you know, that it's not the same thing.
42:14It's utterly impossible.
42:15He can be dead.
42:17I can't believe it.
42:18I can't believe it.
42:19What happened?
42:20What happened?
42:21You never had a place to have.
42:22I bet, and I know you were like, oh, my God.
42:23I was like, oh, my God.
42:24I was like, oh, my God.
42:25What happened?
42:26What happened?
