00:01Previously on Project Runway.
00:03For this challenge, you must each create
00:06a specific look inspired by a musical genre
00:10for each other.
00:12It's supposed to be like that. It's hip-hop.
00:15We're not going to tell her.
00:16We're just going to let her believe that's hip-hop.
00:19I'm not going to make her look stupid.
00:21Kelly, it would help if you removed the sarcasm.
00:30Congratulations, Kato.
00:33I took a look that was nothing like my own,
00:35and I did it.
00:36Does this read hip-hop to you?
00:38No.
00:39All right.
00:40I just wish you had a little more...
00:42Bumfy.
00:43Yeah.
00:44Just wait. You're out.
00:49The winner of Project Runway will receive
00:51a 2009 Saturn View Hybrid,
00:53an opportunity to sell their line on bluefly.com,
00:56and $100,000 to start their own line,
00:59furnished by Tresemme Professional Hair Care.
01:02This is Project Runway.
01:10I'm 33.
01:11I'm the oldest one in this group.
01:13I have a husband.
01:14I have a child,
01:15and I had to put my dream aside for a while.
01:17But now I have a second chance
01:19to make my life into what I want it to be,
01:21and to show my daughter that mommy went after her dreams.
01:24I really do feel in my heart I'm going to make it to Fashion Week.
01:27I'm so excited that we're down to the top four.
01:32Honestly, Kenley probably should have been eliminated a while ago.
01:36She's been disrespectful to all of us.
01:38She's just been outright rude.
01:40I'm not talking to Leigh-Anne.
01:43I think that she did a little bit of sabotage in the last challenge.
01:47When she didn't sell my outfit on the runway,
01:50she made it look like a fool's outfit.
01:53I'm not interested in even trying to pretend like I like her.
01:57I'm not even going to smile.
02:00I ain't even going to smile today.
02:02I'm fine being the only guy standing.
02:06I intend to be the only designer standing at the end of this thing.
02:09But there's nobody to talk to.
02:11Bye, Joe.
02:12Bye.
02:13Suede wants you to go and represent for the fellas too.
02:19Really?
02:20It was fun at first.
02:22Then I realized it's kind of lonely here.
02:25Later, Joe.
02:26Later, Suede.
02:28Don't run on the counter.
02:29Hello.
02:30Hey.
02:31Hi.
02:32Before we talk about your next challenge,
02:33let's bring out the winning and losing designers models.
02:48Kato, you were the winner of the last challenge,
02:52so you have the option of swapping models with a fellow designer.
02:58Your model was Katerina.
03:01If you decide to stay with her,
03:03Savera will be out.
03:05What do you want to do?
03:07Keeping Katerina.
03:15That means, Savera, you out.
03:17Auf Wiedersehen.
03:19Bye.
03:20Thank you, guys.
03:21Okay, there are four of you, but only three will compete at New York Fashion Week to become the winner of Project Runway.
03:36So you better do some amazing work in this next challenge.
03:40Are you ready?
03:42Tim is waiting for you in the lobby to take you on a little field trip.
03:46Will you find out more?
03:48Get going, and I see you on the runway.
03:50Bye.
03:57Hey, you too.
03:58Hi.
03:59Hi.
04:00All right, are you ready for your field trip?
04:02Yeah.
04:03Let's go.
04:05I don't know where we're going.
04:06I am nervous.
04:07I had a hard time in the last challenge,
04:10so I'm hoping the challenge is going to be something that I usually do.
04:14What are you thinking?
04:15I'm thinking it's evening wedding, something in that arena.
04:19But the twist is that our client has had a lettuce, and it's got to be made out of cristides.
04:23Who told you?
04:25So we get off the freeway, and we turn into the botanical garden.
04:29Oh, no.
04:30I should make a dress out of flowers.
04:32I'm thinking maybe we might go do something with plans.
04:35I'm not really quite sure what it is, though, yet.
04:37Follow me.
04:38As we walk into the botanical garden, we see all these beautiful plants and trees.
04:45Look at the size of this.
04:48It's glorious.
04:49Yeah, it's beautiful.
04:50It's huge, and there's crazy, bright, vibrant colors all around.
04:56And we all feel like we're in Wizard of Oz.
05:00The gardening is really therapeutic.
05:02It's therapeutic unless you're Joan Crawford and a control freak,
05:05and you don't want the bloom to fade.
05:08When we walk up, we see a familiar face.
05:12Don't be afraid.
05:14How are you?
05:15Hey, good. How are you?
05:16It is Collier Strong.
05:18Designers, I am thrilled to introduce Collier Strong,
05:21consulting makeup artist for L'Oreal Paris, who's here to tell you about your challenge.
05:25We're here at one of my favorite places in the city, the New York Botanical Garden.
05:29I gain inspiration from the color, the texture, the combination of the two,
05:34and I use that in L'Oreal's hip and fashion-forward makeup line.
05:37For this challenge, we want you to create an evening gown,
05:40using our inspiration, nature, as your muse.
05:44I can't wait to just take a flower that's beautiful and make it into this beautiful evening look.
05:49There are cameras for each of you to record the sources of your inspiration.
05:52You have an hour to explore these incredibly beautiful gardens,
05:56and then we're going back to Parsons.
05:58Collier, thank you so much.
05:59My pleasure. Can't wait to see you.
06:01So everyone, grab a camera, and your hour starts now.
06:10When Tim says go, we grab our cameras and walk around this amazing space, snapping away.
06:16I love this deep plum.
06:19I take inspiration from everything in life, and nature plays a large role in what I do.
06:25There's this one rose in particular that had, like, all these deep purples and reds,
06:29but, like, all on one cluster. It was really beautiful.
06:32There's all kinds of bees flying around everywhere.
06:47Okay.
06:49And one almost stings me.
06:51I see some beautiful lavender flowers, and I'm really drawn to that petal shape.
07:02It's beautiful, right?
07:03Yeah, it's so pretty.
07:04It reminds me a lot of Portland.
07:07I love being in the garden. It kind of reminds me of the garden my mom used to plant when we lived in Africa.
07:16So a lot of the plants that I saw were familiar.
07:20I think I'm going to win this one for my mama. This is for her love.
07:24Designers, you have five minutes remaining, okay?
07:26Okay.
07:27I love this challenge because I use bright, beautiful, crazy colors, and these colors come from flowers.
07:37There's a lot of pretty fuchsias and purples.
07:41This challenge is perfect for me.
07:45All right, everybody.
07:47Time's up.
07:48Let's head back to Parsons, okay?
07:50All right, designers, you have 30 minutes to choose one photograph to serve as the inspiration for this evening gown.
08:03Then we're going shopping at Mood, where you'll have a budget of $250.
08:07You have two days for this Royal Paris challenge.
08:10I'll be back in 30 minutes.
08:13I'm like, wow, I took 135 pictures.
08:16So choosing was a little tough.
08:19That one or that one.
08:21Because I think this is my color story.
08:23I choose this picture of the roses because it's got the color palette that I want.
08:27I don't want to go too simple because we really have to bring it.
08:30We have no excuses.
08:31So I'm going to go with the orange and yellow textured flamenco flower.
08:37I want to make it look like this.
08:40I really want to do this crazy textured gown as long as I can find the fabric that I want.
08:45All right, designers, we're off to Mood.
08:49Okay.
08:50Let's go, everybody.
08:52Yeah, it's cool, it's cool, it's cool.
08:54Excuse me.
08:56I love your photo.
08:57Thanks, I just really went off of the colors.
08:59I love this photograph of this lavender plant.
09:02So I'm getting lavender blue fabric.
09:05Oh my gosh.
09:06Oh my gosh.
09:07That is so freaking awesome.
09:09I found this fuchsia snake skin textured kind of scaly looking fabric.
09:15It's completely the picture.
09:16I love that.
09:18Is that green fabric yours over there?
09:20Um, it's like yellow.
09:21It's yellow?
09:22It's like a yellowy version.
09:23Yeah.
09:24It's funny.
09:25I find this lemony yellowish green kind of sequence, but Tim has me rethinking it because
09:29it's such a thin line between luxury and low class.
09:32So I ended up going with these shades of purple and maroon.
09:38All right, everybody.
09:39Let's head back to Parsons.
09:41Thank you, Mood.
09:42Thank you, Mood.
09:56All right, designers.
09:57You have until midnight tonight, and you have all day tomorrow.
10:01Work hard.
10:04Oh, God.
10:05Come to me.
10:06Come to me.
10:07I have no background making evening work, so it's a lot of pressure on this ball gown.
10:11My picture just shows this beautiful flower, and I got the beaded fabric.
10:15This is a very three-dimensional plant.
10:17I usually don't use lace at all, so I'm just designing as I go.
10:22Really?
10:23I have no clue what I'm doing right now.
10:24We're thinking.
10:25We're praying.
10:28I hate being in the early stages.
10:30Yeah.
10:31I just can't wait to make a little progress on this thing.
10:33Yeah.
10:34Me too.
10:35I like to let the fabrics inspire what's going to get created.
10:39So this garment told me to play with these different shades of purple and plum and maroon.
10:46It's just about figuring out the right way to use them.
10:49I'm not going for like a literal read, but you will be able to look at the image that I've snapped, and you will see it in the garment.
10:55I want to carry out this tiered effect on my dress, which is very organic and certainly fits a lavender plant.
11:08Did I have another mood bag?
11:21You said one, didn't you?
11:23Where's my tool?
11:25Do you think you left it at mood?
11:27Okay, I want to kill myself.
11:30I'm missing my tool.
11:33The bottom of the skirt needs to be big, and I need the tool to achieve that.
11:38I don't really know what I'm going to do.
11:40I got to move on, so I'm using drafting paper.
11:43Right now, I'm freaking out.
11:46I do have a tool that I'm not going to use, but Kenley is just a one-trick pony, and I refuse to assist her in any way.
11:58She threw her eyes on that tool sitting on my table, and it's not going to happen like that.
12:04Probably not using mine either.
12:07I got my tool.
12:09I don't feel bad for Kenley.
12:11She's rude to Heidi.
12:12She's rude to Tim.
12:13When you have an ugly attitude, it just makes you ugly, and then it makes everything you make ugly.
12:18I don't feel sorrowful.
12:19I can't wait to see how this all pans out.
12:22I'm going to stay tuned.
12:26Coming up on Project Runway.
12:28How are you doing?
12:29Not good.
12:39Out of my Project Runway, ladies.
12:41Good morning.
12:42Are you going to do my makeup too?
12:44Love it.
12:45Come, let me do your smokey eye.
12:46Okay.
12:48It's the second day of the challenge that determines who's going to Bryant Park, and I'm not in the mood to talk to the other designers.
12:56Last night, I discovered my tool was gone, and it's going to be a shame if I don't get it, because I really, really want to make the look that I want.
13:05Come on.
13:06Come on.
13:07Time to go to Parsons.
13:19Okay.
13:20It's time to get this crap on the roll.
13:21Let's go.
13:23I'm angry at myself.
13:25Do you have your tool for sale?
13:27No, my tool's not for sale.
13:29I think I'm going to end up using it to fill out the taffeta.
13:33Damn.
13:34Good morning, everyone.
13:35Good morning.
13:36How are you doing?
13:37Good.
13:38Not good.
13:39What's the matter?
13:40I left my tool at mood.
13:41You did?
13:42If you're paid for, it's on your receipt.
13:43I don't want you to be handicapped.
13:44We'll send you back later.
13:45Oh, cool.
13:46Thanks, Tim.
13:47Okay.
13:48All right.
13:49Thanks.
13:50Tim tells me that I can go back to mood and get the tool, and I was totally relieved.
13:55But right now, I'm sending in your models, okay?
13:57Ladies, come on in.
13:58How are you doing?
13:59How are you doing?
14:00Good.
14:01Good.
14:02Put this on.
14:03Put this on.
14:04This is a stressful challenge, man.
14:05This is it.
14:06And I'm way behind, because I kind of want to do like this layering thing.
14:10That's pretty.
14:11I don't want it to be too much.
14:21I'm scared of that, too much business.
14:23I decided to make this long, full-length dress.
14:25I'm behind in this challenge, because I took too much time analyzing instead of just doing
14:30it.
14:31All I'm thinking about is, like, I have to get the same type.
14:33That is a big part of the dress.
14:34I'm going to do.
14:35It's a big part of the dress.
14:36Let's do a lot of things.
14:37All I'm thinking about is, like, I have to win this one
14:41and, like, have to go to Bryant Park.
14:44I think this is going to be amazing.
14:46The pressure is so on.
14:48It's make it or break it.
14:50This is the biggest deal in my life so far.
14:53I want to make sure this gown is everything it can be and more.
14:58You look sexy.
15:01I can't believe that Kenley is whipping this thing up.
15:05It's like she's Kenley the Dragonslayer.
15:08What is this thing, this tube dress of scales?
15:11It's looking a little duck-a-less, as far as I'm concerned.
15:15See that costume over there?
15:17It's not going to cut it.
15:18It's not going to cut the cake.
15:23Designers and models, may I ask you to gather around, please?
15:31Designers, you all know Collier Strong.
15:33Collier, welcome to Parsons, the new school for design.
15:36Thanks for having me.
15:37Collier is here to consult with you about the overall makeup look for this challenge.
15:41So today, what I'm going to do is help you all create bold and colorful looks that complement your designs.
15:47Collier will consult with each of you individually, beginning with Kenley.
15:52So let's go.
15:57Hi.
15:58This is amazing.
15:59I want to do something really high fashion and smoky eyes.
16:02Okay, okay.
16:03It's really dark and dramatic.
16:05Yeah.
16:06See the drama that you're getting?
16:07Yes, I love that.
16:08So this is my sketch.
16:09You still want to keep the eye really delicate and feminine.
16:12Absolutely.
16:12Even though it's strong.
16:14This is my inspiration.
16:15I would really like to try to pick up some of these colors.
16:17We should use, like, the green on the eye and then the purple on the lip.
16:21Oh, I love you.
16:23Perfect.
16:24Oh my God, I love this.
16:26I'm going for this bronzed goddess look.
16:29Like, make her really bronze, make her really glowy, use golds and, like, brighten her eyes.
16:34Okay, bye.
16:34It's so nice to meet you.
16:35Good luck.
16:38I've got to work.
16:39Kato, what I'm trying to get you to understand is you're making an expensive, chic, fashion-forward dress in just two minutes.
16:49So, please do consult the L'Oreal dossier and pick out a makeup look for yourself.
16:58It's going to work.
17:00It's just me by myself on one side of the room and then the three other designers on the other side.
17:07That right there, I've had to deal with that my whole life, being kind of left out.
17:12I don't know why, but I'm okay with that.
17:15I need to focus.
17:20Kenley.
17:21Mm-hmm.
17:22We call Mood.
17:23They're open.
17:24If you'd like to go over there, you may certainly do that.
17:27Okay.
17:28Okay?
17:28All right, thanks.
17:29All right, designers, I will be back to check in on you later today.
17:33Okay?
17:33Thank you, Tim.
17:34Thanks, Tim.
17:35All right, you guys, I'm going to Mood.
17:37Ciao.
17:38Later.
17:39You're in the back.
17:42Who said ciao?
17:43Joe.
17:44Herbozilla costume.
17:47I always want to challenge myself and push myself.
17:50That's how I've always been.
17:51I was taught to be tough.
17:54My dad was a tugboat captain, and half of my childhood was spent miles away from land.
18:01So I can be as loud and as obnoxious as I want.
18:05I think that it probably had an impact on who I am today.
18:08I left my tool here.
18:10We've been waiting for you.
18:11Okay, good.
18:12I'm glad it's ready to go.
18:14I'll wait.
18:15Thank you so much.
18:16Thanks.
18:17Thanks.
18:17You too.
18:18I'm not worried about people understanding me.
18:20I am who I am, and I want to get a spot at Bryant Park.
18:23I think I deserve to be there, and I really want to be there, because my line will be the best.
18:37Coming up on Project Runway.
18:39It's looking very unfinished.
18:40It is very unfinished.
18:41I have so much work left to do.
18:44Hi, everybody.
18:52Hi, Tim.
18:54How is everyone?
18:56Good.
18:56Good.
18:58Kato.
18:59Hi, Tim.
18:59You have got to talk to me about the lace.
19:03This is bothering me, all that.
19:05Well, it's bothering me, too, let me tell you.
19:07It's really sleek.
19:10Yeah.
19:10And 2008 looking in the front, and I get to the back, and it's Catherine the Great.
19:15I know, I know.
19:16I'm thinking of just doing, like, a trim.
19:18Okay.
19:18Just kind of around, like that.
19:20Keep bringing just the right critical analysis to this.
19:24All right, work, work.
19:25I will.
19:26I'm not feeling 100% positive about my dress.
19:30I'm definitely going to take the lace and scale it down to, like, a one-inch trim,
19:35so I know I'm going to really have to work it.
19:37The pressure is on.
19:39Kenley.
19:40How are you?
19:41I love the dress.
19:43Uh-huh.
19:43So the tool's going to go on the bottom just to bring this out and the leaves out.
19:48What happens with the transition from these petals to the actual dress?
19:53They're looking more like fish scales than they are like leaves.
19:57Oh, cool.
19:58Are you all right with that?
19:59That's what I wanted.
20:00I wanted it scaly.
20:01But we have a botanical theme, not an oceanic.
20:04I feel good about this, though.
20:05I really love it.
20:06Well, love it, but get this stuff to work down here.
20:11All right.
20:11Thank you, Kenley.
20:12I actually was completely complimented when Tim said that my dress looked like scales because
20:19that's what I was going for.
20:20Jarrell.
20:21Hey, Tim.
20:22How's it going?
20:22Great.
20:23How about for you?
20:25It definitely feels very much like me, and it feels very organic.
20:28I respond very positively to this whole sense of layers.
20:32As we look at this longer, we see more in it.
20:36But it's looking very unfinished.
20:39It is very unfinished.
20:40But you have the potential here for blowing everyone's socks off.
20:43That's the plan.
20:44But work this out.
20:46Okay.
20:47Okay, Jarrell.
20:50Leanne.
20:51Tim.
20:52How are you?
20:53I don't know.
20:55She has a lot to do.
20:56From here down, talk to me.
20:58I'm seeing Hello, Dolly.
21:00Can we turn it around?
21:01Yeah.
21:02It's like, bleh.
21:04Okay.
21:04I think I know what to do.
21:06Good.
21:06All right.
21:07Thank you, Leanne.
21:08Thank you, Tim.
21:11Kenley, Kato, Leanne, and Jarrell, I just have to tell you, I am so proud of all four of
21:18you.
21:19So, work, work, work, and I will see you tomorrow.
21:24Take care.
21:25Thank you, Tim.
21:26Tim.
21:31God.
21:32This has got to come through tomorrow.
21:35How are you?
21:37Not good.
21:38There's a lot to do.
21:39Just work it out, boo-boo.
21:41I know.
21:41There's just a lot to do.
21:43Yeah.
21:44I'm just really stressed out.
21:46Like, I have so much work left to do.
21:49I've wanted to show it New York Fashion Week since I was 12.
21:56And this is my chance.
22:00I don't want to blow it.
22:01It's a good feeling.
22:17I'm happy that I made it to where I made it.
22:19And, you know, I get to go home.
22:20And, but it's kind of still coming to an end.
22:26I don't know.
22:27I don't know.
22:27Just to have this opportunity and to actually be
22:34this close to something you've wanted so long and that you, you've worked so hard.
22:40This is certainly the biggest moment of my life to date.
22:48If she's truly in this summer, she should follow me on the days of my life.
22:51I want this so bad.
22:52I just can't be told to go home today.
22:54I'm going to have a breakdown.
22:56Hell, I'm breaking down right now.
22:58I just can't stand it.
23:00It's been told no so many times in my life.
23:03I just want this time to be yes.
23:05I wish you guys all the luck, like, from the bottom of my heart.
23:07I know.
23:08I thank you.
23:09Bless for everybody, too.
23:10I've got to finish this garment.
23:16I ain't got no time to play.
23:19Walking into the workroom, I rush over to my dress, take a deep breath,
23:26because I know I've got so much stuff to do.
23:31Good morning, everybody.
23:32Good morning.
23:33Everybody, it's our last runway show.
23:36Hard to believe.
23:37You have an hour to send your models to the Preston Mayherstel.
23:40Go on in the L'Oreal Paris makeup room.
23:42Okay?
23:43Have fun and wow, everybody.
23:46That suit is getting great, too.
23:48Hi, guys.
23:49Hi, guys.
23:49Hey.
23:50Mwah.
23:50Good morning.
23:52Let's get you in it.
23:54I'm going to have to probably sew you in it.
23:55All right, where's the damn thread?
23:57Koteau, I don't like anything that she does.
24:00I don't like what any of the designers do.
24:02I think Jarell throws a bunch of glamorous together, and it looks like a craft project.
24:09Leanne, she does pleated details with a muted color palette that's been done.
24:14Get you out of that, and then send you down to makeup.
24:17I love that lip gloss we did.
24:20Well, I really like the copper eyes, though.
24:24No.
24:25No.
24:26Not bad.
24:27Not bad.
24:28Not bad.
24:29Not bad.
24:30Not bad.
24:31Not bad.
24:32Not bad.
24:33Not bad.
24:34Not bad.
24:35It's dark, dark, dark.
24:36The shimmer gloss.
24:37Really good.
24:38Yeah.
24:39Very romantic.
24:42I'm excited.
24:47Designers, you have 10 minutes until we have to go down to the runway.
24:52They're still sewing and ironing in here.
24:54Pull that up, and you just want to, because we want to create this nice, sleek wand.
24:58I still have this blue material that I need to incorporate into the dress, but it had to
25:05get on there quickly, and it is not going to be my best work.
25:11Okay, I just need to work this out in about eight minutes.
25:18All right, designers and models.
25:21It's time.
25:23Stress.
25:24My God, I'm freaking out.
25:27I'm just praying that it's me that's going to go to Bryan Park.
25:33Coming up on Project Runway.
25:34The whole thing is kind of creepy.
25:36They don't look very elegant.
25:37I wasn't going for elegant, Heidi.
25:40I think we're going to get to you in just a second.
25:46Hello.
25:47Hey, Heidi.
25:49Welcome to the runway.
25:50As you know, in fashion, one day you're in, and the next day, you're out.
25:54There are four of you here, but only three will earn the right to compete at New York Fashion Week to become the winner of Project Runway.
26:05For this challenge, you had to create an evening gown using nature as your inspiration.
26:09All right, let's meet the judges.
26:14First, we have top American designer Michael Kors.
26:16Hey, guys.
26:17Hello, Michael.
26:18Next, we have Nina Garcia, edit at large for Elle Magazine.
26:22Hi, everyone.
26:23Hi.
26:24And Georgina Chapman, co-founder and designer for Mikesa.
26:28Hello.
26:29Hi.
26:31We will score your designs as they come down the runway.
26:34One of you will be named the winner, and one of you will be out.
26:41Let's start the show.
26:48My outfit works with what my inspiration flower was because of the palette that I took,
26:52the three colors that are very vivid in the picture.
26:55I'm just praying that they'll just love the silhouette so much that they won't notice the janky beam work.
27:04The idea of my dress, the lavender, is recreated out of these soft sculptural pleats.
27:18Just the whole flow and movement of the lavender blowing in the wind.
27:23It absolutely does show the judges why I should be going to Bryant Park.
27:34I'm actually loving the play of colors in my gown, and I think it really reads true to my inspiration image from the Botanical Gardens.
27:42And I'm really happy with the way the gown turned out.
27:45The final look of my gown looks exactly like my picture.
28:04I feel really good about my dress.
28:06I really feel like I am going to make it to Bryant Park.
28:18We've scored your designs.
28:20One of you will be named the winner.
28:23And one of you will be out.
28:26Let's bring out your models.
28:27Okay, I would like to start with Leanne.
28:41I was inspired by this beautiful lavender plant.
28:46I wanted to recreate the structure of a lavender plant, and I formed this sculptural but very soft and organic feeling, and I love it.
28:58I like the balance between the structure and the softness, and I think you did a great job with the bodice. That's hard to do.
29:04I was very pleasantly surprised to see you work with something soft.
29:10It's very harmonious and very feminine.
29:12I'm a little concerned about a few details that I see. Can I have her turn around?
29:17Yeah, there seems to be a problem here with her bustle.
29:21I think that the blue in the back, quite frankly, is distracting.
29:24It looks like a bolt of fabric just got kind of thrown in the back of the dress.
29:28I think it's a matter of just giving it a little bit more work, but all in all, it's a very, very pretty dress.
29:37Cut out.
29:38The inspiration was called the flamenco flower. The flowers had a lot of texture in it. It was three-dimensional, and it was just really simple and pretty.
29:46And I just love the colors. I wanted to do something bright and vivid.
29:50Well, on the plus side, it's made beautifully.
29:53Thanks.
29:54The shape is very flattering on her.
29:56On the downside to me, it's really not a sophisticated dress.
30:02I think it looks like a beauty pageant.
30:04I wrote the same thing. I wrote pageant.
30:07I cannot see someone today wearing a dress that is like that and be fashion-forward.
30:12I think, again, it comes down to fabric choice that I'm questioning.
30:16It's a combination of the color choice, of the lace, of the beading.
30:21It's just very gilded, overworked, and it doesn't come off as sophisticated.
30:28And I also don't see much of Kato in here.
30:31This is all me. This is me, and this is classic.
30:35I think you threw too much in there. In an effort to impress us, you went a little too far.
30:41Tyrell.
30:42In the rose garden, there was this cluster of roses on one bush, and it's like all these beautiful shades of like plum and purple.
30:53And that was really kind of the inspiration for it.
30:56I love what it does up here, even though I kind of want to yank it up once.
31:01Show the shape.
31:03This is the most youthful of all of them.
31:06But I do see that you had technical problems with it, and that it looks a little messy.
31:12It's off.
31:13But it's off in an interesting way that kind of intrigues me.
31:17But, you know, here you have a very elegant dress, and then all of a sudden, it's hack and sew.
31:24Well, it all came down to, like, you know, time.
31:26If you have more time, so what exactly would you have done?
31:29I would have actually, like, lined all of this and had it, like, kind of attached into itself, so it was more of this billowy effect.
31:35So it would have definitely read a lot cleaner.
31:37But, you know, you keep doing this, and it makes me nervous.
31:46Ten leaves.
31:47Um, I took a picture of these really cool leaves.
31:50They almost looked scaly, so I wanted to do something textured and scaly and cool and edgy, not a typical gown.
31:57And I love it.
31:58I think I achieved exactly what I wanted to do achieve.
32:01It doesn't feel very organic.
32:03It looks scaly.
32:04It looks like a reptile.
32:07But not in a cool way.
32:09It's just the whole thing is kind of creepy.
32:11I wanted to stay away from pretty because when I hear gown, I think, ugh, old.
32:16But she looks old.
32:18This girl does not look young, hip, or cool at all.
32:22I really wanted to stray away from typical and cliche.
32:26I wrote cliche.
32:28It is not a cliche gown.
32:31And the petals, I have to say, they don't look very elegant either.
32:35I wasn't going for elegance, Heidi.
32:38What I find from you, Ken Lisa, you get very defensive.
32:41It's almost like you know too much.
32:43It is a little bit annoying, the attitude.
32:45I have to agree.
32:47Like, like right now, what you do right now.
32:49I mean, it's...
32:50What?
32:52I mean, if you don't feel it, then I don't know.
32:54When you come off very kind of like flippant and smug,
32:56and it kind of makes us kind of feel like,
32:59well, does she really give a damn?
33:01Is she so cocky?
33:02No, I do.
33:03Let's be honest.
33:04You wouldn't be standing here if we didn't like what you do.
33:07You know, we're fans.
33:09We want it to be fabulous.
33:10That's all.
33:15Okay.
33:16I want to ask each of you the same question.
33:17I'm going to start with Jor-El.
33:19Jor-El, why should you move forward to Fashion Week?
33:22And which two designers do you want to have come with you?
33:25This is my dream.
33:26This is, like, so important to me,
33:30and I feel like I've shown consistently my point of view,
33:33and I just, you know, with this dress,
33:36this is my 12th look, I've had the opportunity to show,
33:38and I would just love to show more.
33:42As to the second part of that question,
33:45I think that Kenley is an amazing designer,
33:47but I think the 50s kind of silhouettes,
33:50I feel like we've seen it before,
33:51and I think you put that on the right side,
33:54on the runway Bryan Park, it's going to just be like...
33:56That's not all I do.
33:58I could, I mean...
33:59Clearly.
34:00I'm sorry, I'm not trying to throw you under the bus, boo-boo,
34:01but they asked me which two designers,
34:02and honestly, I feel like...
34:03But they didn't want you to elaborate on why.
34:05I think we're going to get to you in just a second.
34:07So, at that point, you can start speaking.
34:09Yeah, so, Kato and Leigh-Anne and Jerrell at the tents,
34:15is what I'm trying to say.
34:17At the tents.
34:21Leigh-Anne, same question to you.
34:23I'm not going to do a boring show, and I want this.
34:27The other two that I feel should accompany me,
34:31it's clear-cut for me.
34:33Jerrell and Kato.
34:35Those two are, I feel, on the same level as me,
34:40and I keep seeing the same shapes from Kenley.
34:47Kato.
34:48I'm the oldest one on the stage.
34:50I'm married, I have a child,
34:51but I still have my dream,
34:53and I know that if I get the chance to go to Brighton Park,
34:55you will see parts of my culture in there,
34:57my fabric choices,
34:58and you will see who I really am
35:00to really just wow you.
35:01And I would love to take Jerrell and Leigh-Anne with me,
35:04not just because of what they do,
35:05but because of who they are as people.
35:11Kenley, why should you move forward to Fashion League?
35:13Well, now that I've just been trashed,
35:16I think that I take the most risks here,
35:20and I do it well.
35:21I do it with a sophistication,
35:23and I'm gonna put on a show at Brighton Park,
35:26and I'm gonna do a great job of it.
35:28As far as arguing with people,
35:31I feel like I've been fighting my way through life,
35:34you know, so it's a force of habit.
35:37So I'm really, I truly apologize to everyone.
35:41I mean, I grew up tough.
35:43I've fought my way through life,
35:45and that's just me.
35:46So who would you take with you, Kelly?
35:49I think Leigh-Anne and Jerrell should be there.
35:52I don't think Classic puts on a show,
35:55and people wanna see a show at Brighton Park.
36:02Okay.
36:03We've heard what you had to say.
36:05We're gonna have a little chat,
36:07and then we'll call you back.
36:09We can leave the runway.
36:13I just wanna say, Kelly,
36:14pretty much every time you have to defend yourself,
36:17you feel like you have to dog out what I do.
36:18You do.
36:19They forced me.
36:20They're forced me to do nothing.
36:21I feel like every time you have to defend yourself,
36:23you have to pay on us people.
36:24All right, I'm sorry.
36:25No, not even that.
36:26I'm sorry, because you know you're not.
36:27I was just dog...
36:28Nobody's dogging you out.
36:29Did I dog you out?
36:30Really?
36:31I wasn't just told you out.
36:32Did I dog you out?
36:33What did I say about you?
36:34Nothing.
36:35I just went through what you went through times 10, okay?
36:38So don't.
36:39Don't what?
36:40I'm gonna say what I have to say,
36:41and I'm gonna speak my mind.
36:42I'm gonna speak my mind.
36:43I'm gonna say what I have to say,
36:44and I'm gonna speak my mind.
36:45I'm gonna say what I have to say,
36:46and I'm gonna speak my mind.
37:01What did we think of today's job?
37:05I don't think that this was their best moment.
37:10I think they're all a little bit scared,
37:13so close to the end.
37:14Yeah, serious construction problems.
37:17Taste got lost along the way.
37:19Okay, let's talk about Leigh-Anne.
37:22It was a softer Leigh-Anne,
37:24and working with those soft fabrics
37:28and a more feminine hand really helped her.
37:31The thing I found interesting about her
37:33is I could see that was her dress by looking at her,
37:36and so she definitely has a signature
37:37which intrigues me, and I would want to see more.
37:40I will say, though,
37:41I think she spent so much time and effort
37:43on all this ruching and all this structure
37:46that I feel like there's no joy in them.
37:49They're so sad.
37:50They're so serious and sad.
37:52But she is herself.
37:54Yes, I agree completely.
37:56Jor-El.
37:58He was the most intriguing.
38:00Out of all the dresses that I saw today,
38:02he's the one person that I'd be like,
38:04ooh, I want to see what else he does.
38:05He's elegant with an edge, with like a new...
38:08However, the problem with Jor-El
38:10is keeping the finish sophisticated.
38:12We need to see a polished fashion show at Brighton Park.
38:14Right. We can't see a mess.
38:18Kato.
38:19Well, I think all of us immediately thought beauty pageant.
38:22Beauty pageant bridal.
38:24I have to say, though, in her defense,
38:26she knows how to craft clothes beautifully.
38:29And she loves color.
38:31She's not afraid of color.
38:33But this was just...
38:35It was every cliché of an evening dress.
38:39Kelly.
38:41Well, she's certainly shown us
38:43that she understands how to mix fabrics.
38:45You know, she has definitely that flirty 50s kind of thing.
38:48But then all of a sudden today,
38:50a total loss of taste.
38:52I couldn't see anything in what you're telling me
38:55what she's about in that dress.
38:57I... I... you're talking about floaty florals.
39:00I'm like, where were they?
39:02Let's talk about her attitude first.
39:04Kenley's attitude is just...
39:06I... I gotta tell you,
39:08forget what her clothes look like
39:10with an attitude like that.
39:12Yeah.
39:13Imagine her response to,
39:14if a buyer says,
39:15well, I don't like that sleeve.
39:16What does she do?
39:17Take a knife out and kill them?
39:18You know, I mean, she's just...
39:20She's so defensive.
39:22She's rude.
39:23I have to say, though,
39:24that I am a little bit intrigued,
39:27and I do want to know what she would do.
39:30Oh, I agree.
39:31Because really...
39:32Her clothes are entertaining.
39:33She's made interesting, outrageous things.
39:35I just think, particularly today,
39:37she was... off.
39:42This was a very difficult challenge,
39:44but we have a decision to make.
39:46It's a really tough decision.
39:48Leanne and Jarrell,
39:50it definitely wasn't, to me,
39:52really the shining example of their work.
39:55I don't know.
39:56I just was expecting something more creative.
39:59Kenley and Cato,
40:01both of them were trying to show us a side
40:04that we've never seen before,
40:06and I think they really made the wrong turns.
40:08They all want to go to Fashion Week.
40:10They're all so distinct,
40:12and isn't the most exciting fashion show
40:15for the finale,
40:16one that's going to show different points of view.
40:19Oh, for sure.
40:20Sure.
40:21Okay, let's bring them back up.
40:33Designers,
40:34it was the closest runway show
40:36we've ever had to judge.
40:40But ultimately,
40:41only three of you will compete
40:43at New York Fashion Week.
40:45Leanne,
40:46Jarrell,
41:00Jarrell,
41:01you had the highest scores.
41:15Kenley,
41:16Kato,
41:17you have the lowest scores.
41:19Jarrell,
41:20you are the winner of this challenge.
41:22Thank you guys.
41:23Just barely.
41:24Thank you guys so much.
41:25Thank you guys so much.
41:26However, we couldn't decide on a loser, so we're sending you all home to create collections for Fashion Week.
41:38Don't get all too excited yet.
41:39I said if you remember, only three of you will compete at New York Fashion Week.
41:51So when you return to New York, one of you will be out. This means all of you are on the line, including you, Jarrell.
42:09That's cool.
42:10I can handle it.
42:11Congratulations to all of you.
42:13You can leave the runway.
42:14Congratulations.
42:15I don't have to send anyone home to clean up their space.
42:16That is amazing.
42:17I'm thrilled.
42:18I just feel like it's great to have a second chance to really show what I have. It'll be perfect. And there'll be no excuses.
42:33Group hug everybody. Let's get in here.
42:34I'm really happy you're here.
42:35You're here.
42:36You're here.
42:37I'm here.
42:38We're here.
42:39We're here.
42:40I want to go.
42:41We're here.
42:42We're here.
42:43We're here.
42:44We're here.
42:45We're here.
42:46We're here.
42:47I'm really happy that we're getting a second chance,
42:50but it's a little annoying that the other three designers hate me.
42:55Kenley, let bygones be bygones, all right?
42:58It just makes me want to win this even more
43:01and beat these other designers to the ground.
43:04Let's get some air. Congratulations.
43:07I'm thrilled, thrilled, thrilled.
43:10I've been a wreck.
43:12Next on Project Runway,
43:14here we'll be creating a collection for New York Fashion Week.
43:17Gals, bring your A-game.
43:19I'm taking home the check.
43:20Kelly!
43:21Hi, Ken!
43:22How are you, sweetheart?
43:23Whoa!
43:24You want this to be believable.
43:26All right.
43:27Look at the shape of it.
43:28Yeah.
43:29It gets a little sexual.
43:31Hi!
