00:01Previously on Project Runway.
00:03For this challenge, we want you to create an evening gown
00:06using nature as your muse.
00:09How are you doing?
00:10Not good.
00:12Kenley should have been eliminated a while ago.
00:14She's just been outright rude.
00:21The petals, they don't look very elegant.
00:24I wasn't going for elegance, Heidi.
00:26When you come off very kind of like flippant and smug,
00:29it kind of makes us feel like,
00:31does she really give a damn?
00:33I think it looks like a beauty pageant.
00:36We couldn't decide on a loser,
00:38so we're sending you all home
00:41to create collections professionally.
00:45The winner of Project Runway will receive
00:47a 2009 Saturn View Hybrid,
00:49an opportunity to sell their line on bluefly.com,
00:52and $100,000 to start their own line
00:55furnished by Tresemme Professional Hair Care.
00:58This is Project Runway.
01:11Hello.
01:12Hey Heidi.
01:13Congratulations.
01:14All of you will be creating a collection of 10 looks
01:17for New York Fashion Week.
01:19We're giving you a budget of $8,000 in the next two months
01:23to put it together.
01:24Remember, only three of you will compete at Fashion Week.
01:29When you return to New York, one of you will be out.
01:33Your evening gown was a misstep for you as designers,
01:37but we feel that with more time and money, you will shine.
01:41Therefore, we're sending you all home with one more challenge.
01:46You must design a wedding dress that represents you as a designer
01:51and is a reflection of your line.
01:55I'm kind of annoyed because I thought we were finally going to be free,
01:58but I'm going to still bring it and work it.
02:00You'll keep your models from the last challenge.
02:03And now, let's bring out a familiar face.
02:10It's just me.
02:11Hey, Tim.
02:14Designers, I'll be checking in with each of you in the next month.
02:17For three of you, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity
02:20to compete on the fashion industry's biggest stage.
02:24So, do it.
02:26Exactly. Amaze us.
02:28Good luck, designers. We see you soon.
02:30Come on, Tim.
02:32Let's walk into the sunset.
02:33Indeed, we will.
02:44The last runway show, I was completely sabotaged
02:47by all of the other designers, and it's soft.
02:51But bring it on. I'm going to win this thing.
02:53Hey, lovely ladies and ladies.
02:55It's so cold down here.
02:57Aw, wasn't there someone else?
03:01I don't see anyone.
03:03Typical Kenley. Rude as hell.
03:05I'm just glad that the judges called her on it.
03:08But I really don't think it's going to change her.
03:10She's still going to have that spanky attitude and whatever.
03:13Please, do bring fire, because I'm going to bring the pain.
03:17I don't know what these girls are going to do when they're at home
03:19with their $8,000, but I'm going to be constructing
03:22pure magic.
03:24This is my lifetime opportunity here.
03:30There is no way I'm going to procrastinate on this.
03:34I'm going to get to work immediately.
03:36I'm traveling to check on the collections of our four finalists.
03:52First up, I'll visit Kato Mamalu, who's working on her collection in Little Rock.
03:56Where's it?
03:58It's Tim Gunn.
04:00Hello. How are you, sweetheart?
04:02How are you?
04:04Great, great.
04:05Great, great.
04:06Welcome to Arkansas.
04:07I'm thrilled to be here.
04:08Glad to have you.
04:09So tell me, what is this place?
04:11This place is called Park on the River.
04:13It's owned by the city of Marmel.
04:15I've been working at a beautiful building, and it has a few work spaces where you can actually rent out.
04:20I actually needed a place where I could just focus.
04:23Even though I love my family, sometimes I don't think they really understand the pressure that's on me right now.
04:28I'm scared about this visit, Tim.
04:30Oh, don't be scared.
04:31I'm friend, not foe.
04:33You're not me.
04:34My inspiration is definitely just culture and nature, the colors.
04:38I wanted it to look really ethnic without being too ethnic.
04:42I have a lot of my beadwork incorporated.
04:44Oh, this is your own beadwork?
04:45Mm-hmm.
04:46This is gorgeous.
04:47Yeah.
04:48The palette's stunning.
04:49It's very sophisticated.
04:51The colors I chose actually are a direct reflection of my workspace.
04:56I saw this beautiful, vivid green grass, and the snake skin.
05:01I mean, in these woods that I'm sitting here sewing, and there are snakes crawling all over the place.
05:05So this is my favorite color in the collection, the green.
05:08Can I tell you what bothers me?
05:10Mm-hmm.
05:11Look at the shape of it.
05:12Yeah.
05:13It gets a little sexual.
05:14I don't want a snatch shot.
05:17And what about the wedding dress?
05:22It's not traditional.
05:23It's actually the color I wore when I got married.
05:25I love what this is doing with the texture, with the ripple of the snake skin.
05:29And the dress.
05:30You're doing anything with a veil or a train?
05:32Mm-mm.
05:33I just think you need something that says this is a wedding rather than red carpet.
05:38Okay.
05:39I think I have a lot of work to do.
05:40But it's got to tell you, it's sensational.
05:43It's really stunning.
05:44And I'm so proud.
05:45I was scared about this visit.
05:46I had nightmares.
05:47So I'm going to take Tim to my home today to meet my husband and my daughter.
05:52And some of my friends give Tim a little bit of Arkansas, a little bit of Africa.
05:57This is adorable.
05:59Hi.
06:00Hi.
06:01How are you?
06:02Tim, good.
06:03Nice to meet you.
06:04Beanie Brie.
06:05Hi, Benny.
06:06Nice to meet you.
06:07Hey.
06:08Are you Elise?
06:09I'm Elise.
06:10Look at your gorgeous skirt.
06:11Say hi.
06:12Got married about nine years ago.
06:14Four years ago, though, we had a little beautiful little girl, Elise Nambia.
06:18You look like a princess.
06:19Actually, I act like one, too.
06:22How are you?
06:23They're my family and friends.
06:25I'm sorry.
06:26Erica.
06:27Hi, Erica.
06:28Hi.
06:29Star.
06:30Star?
06:31There's only one star in this household.
06:33Oh, this is Zinsay, my drumming partner.
06:35So nice to meet you.
06:36My name is Zinsay.
06:37Nice to meet you.
06:38And I'm performing for you today, Tim.
06:40What do you mean?
06:41I was surprised.
06:42Wonderful.
06:43Ready?
06:49I was born in Liberia, West Africa.
06:51It's really important to me to stay close to my roots because I don't ever want to forget.
06:56That's really who I am.
06:57Definitely my strength comes from my parents.
06:59When the Civil War happened in Liberia, because my dad worked for the government, we actually
07:04couldn't return home because he would have been executed.
07:07It's like something dies in you when you're taken away from your homeland.
07:11We didn't have anything.
07:12We had to go on welfare and just start from scratch.
07:15I've seen where my parents came from.
07:18Just having what they had and then to lose it and then regain it, it just showed me that
07:22just because you fall doesn't mean that you have to stay on the ground.
07:26You have to keep getting up and you have to keep going.
07:28I want to show my daughter that whatever she wants to be, she can be it.
07:32My parents know that I've had this dream for so long.
07:36And for me to actually win and fulfill that, I think they're just all so happy for me right
07:40now that I don't even have to win the prize.
07:43Just going to Fashion Week, they're so excited.
07:45They're happy that I've never gave up.
07:52Woo!
07:53Wow!
07:55That was fantastic.
07:56Fantastic.
07:57Wow.
07:58Next up is Leanne Marshall, who's working on her collection in Portland.
08:17Leanne!
08:18I'm so thrilled to see you!
08:20Oh!
08:21How are you?
08:22I'm great.
08:23Come in.
08:24Thank you so much.
08:25This is my boyfriend Nathan.
08:26Hi Nathan.
08:27So nice to meet you.
08:28Nice to meet you too.
08:29Pleasure.
08:31Yeah, thanks for letting me come.
08:32Yeah, thank you for coming.
08:33It's so wonderful seeing Tim Gunn.
08:35I love this collection, but I'm really kind of nervous.
08:38Is Tim going to love it?
08:40Is he going to hate it?
08:41So Leanne, tell me about inspiration, motivation.
08:45I got back from New York and I really needed to clear my head.
08:48Yeah.
08:49And so I went down by the waterfront and I sketched for a few days.
08:54From there, I just got the idea of doing like wave patterns.
08:59Mm-hmm.
09:00This was the first piece that I ended up doing.
09:01This is very you.
09:02And it flips out and it's like waves.
09:06But what are you pairing that with?
09:08I'm pairing it with a top like this.
09:11Good, good, good.
09:12Just really simple.
09:13Great.
09:14Excellent.
09:15Nothing is finished.
09:16I understand.
09:17And if this could be just lightly tea dyed or something.
09:21Yeah.
09:22It's just this color.
09:24One of Tim's concerns was the white, white that I have in my collection.
09:30So I'm probably going to be doing some dyeing so that it's more cohesive.
09:35How have you felt about, dare I ask, the wedding dress?
09:39Um, you know, I'm back and forth.
09:42I don't want it to look like a costume where she's like a walking wedding cake.
09:46It doesn't have the same ease and flow as the collection.
09:49And I would look at this and think, well, if that's what Leanne's showing in the other pieces,
09:52do I even need to see them?
09:54There's a lot riding on this wedding dress.
09:56I have to go to Fashion Week, so I have some changes that I'm going to make to it.
10:01I could go for a bike ride.
10:03I need to check my medical insurance policy first.
10:09Here we go.
10:10You tell me when.
10:11All right, you ready?
10:12Yep.
10:13All right.
10:14Here we go.
10:15Whoa!
10:16All right.
10:18Here we go.
10:19Here we go.
10:20Yay, we're doing it.
10:21We're doing it.
10:24Whoa!
10:27I'm taking Tim to Laurelhurst Park.
10:30This foresty retreat in the middle of the city.
10:34So when did you know you wanted to be a fashion designer?
10:37I wanted to be a fashion designer when I was 12.
10:40I was a dancer.
10:42I did ballet.
10:43And, uh, yeah, I started designing my dance costume.
10:46You did?
10:47Uh-huh.
10:48I grew up drawing.
10:49I had a crayon in my hand as soon as I could pick one up.
10:52And I was always drawing dresses.
10:55One thing led to another.
10:57I realized that, hey, I could have a job being a fashion designer when I grew up.
11:02And I feel so proud that that's what I am now.
11:06It's a dream come true.
11:08Well, Leanne, I am so grateful to you for letting me come.
11:10I mean, to experience Portland like this.
11:12I know.
11:13I'm so glad that you got to come here.
11:16Coming up on Project Runway.
11:18Hi!
11:19We are all just like this.
11:33Next, I'll visit Jerrel Scott.
11:35He's working on his collection in Los Angeles.
11:41Hey!
11:42Jerrel!
11:43How are you?
11:44I'm good. How are you?
11:45I'm great.
11:46I'm actually really very excited to see Tim and to see what he thinks of my collection.
11:50I'm hoping that it'll give me the second wind that I need to crank through the rest of this stuff.
11:55So here is what I've been working on thus far.
11:58All right.
11:59So talk to me about your overall point of view with this collection.
12:03Well, it's definitely like evening.
12:05One of the things I think I'm really good at is mixing different textures.
12:08So I definitely wanted to make that a large part of what this collection is about.
12:11So this is the wedding dress.
12:13I didn't want it to just feel like any old wedding dress.
12:15So I thought it'd be kind of cool to do this kind of asymmetrical kind of swooping thing.
12:19Can I just be blunt?
12:20Yeah.
12:21I think for me, this looks like I popped out.
12:24Why not give it some stability?
12:27You know?
12:28Hmm.
12:29I just want you to think about it.
12:30That's all.
12:31Tim thought that it didn't need to be as asymmetrical at the top, but it still has to feel like me.
12:36And I think that speaks to who I am as a designer.
12:39This one here, what I'm really thinking about doing is like finishing it and making them sleeves
12:46and putting them like a cuff.
12:49This is a lot of look.
12:51I think you need to start thinking about editing.
12:55Tim's biggest concern is me using all these different elements appropriately.
13:00Six of the looks aren't even made yet, so I still have a lot of work to do.
13:04You want this to be believable.
13:06Okay.
13:07Okay.
13:08All right.
13:09Can I still meet your family and friends?
13:11Oh my God, definitely.
13:12Definitely.
13:19Hey.
13:20Hi.
13:21I'm Tim Gunn.
13:22I'm Ani.
13:23Ani, so nice to meet you.
13:24How beautiful this is.
13:25Tim Gunn.
13:26Nice to meet you, Michael.
13:28My sister.
13:29No wonder you're so stunning.
13:32My love interest, Dan.
13:33Hi, Dan.
13:34Nice to meet you.
13:35My gorgeous mom, Adi.
13:36Hi, mom.
13:37So it's just the two of you as siblings.
13:40Yeah.
13:41Adi, when Jerrel was little, where did you think he was going to go and be?
13:44Actually, I knew it was going to be something that had to do with creativity.
13:49I was like four and like, I was like, oh, a tube sock.
13:52And so I thought to myself, if I cut the bottom up, then that's a dress with a train.
13:58Growing up in South Central LA was interesting.
14:02And it was kind of like during the height of all the gang violence and all that.
14:06And I mean, we lived like two blocks from where the riots started.
14:10I mean, they burned the liquor store down right next to my house.
14:12After that, my parents did everything in their power to kind of get their kids out of the ghetto and give us a better opportunity.
14:18Well, my dad's not here, but like, he's really important to him.
14:21He had to work, so.
14:22My dad, growing up, I didn't see that much of him because he was providing for his family the best way he knew how, which was like driving trucks.
14:31And like my whole childhood, he experienced in a sleeper cab of a truck, like to provide the best life that he could for like me and my sister.
14:42And I thank him for that now.
14:44I give you and dad credit for allowing me the freedom to really be creative.
14:49And they're the reason why I'm willing to take chances and risks and that I'm so confident in who I am as a person.
14:54And I'm so grateful for that.
14:57How do you feel about all this?
14:59I am very, very proud of y'all.
15:01The fact that you're actually reaching out towards your friends is like a very, very wonderful thing.
15:06Like me being this close to Bryant Park, not making it is not even an option.
15:10I'm going to put on one hell of a show.
15:12I've come this far and there's no turning back.
15:15Bye-bye.
15:16Bye-bye.
15:19Finally, I'll visit Kenley Collins, who's working on her collection in Brooklyn.
15:26Kenley!
15:27Hi, Ken!
15:28Good to see you.
15:29I'm thrilled to see you.
15:30When I saw Tim, it was really nice.
15:31I'm hoping that he loves my line that I've worked so hard on.
15:36This is such a classic New York apartment.
15:37This is great.
15:38I know.
15:39I do value Tim's opinion.
15:40Even though it seems like I don't, I do.
15:41This is my grandmother.
15:42She was a calendar girl.
15:43What a great photo.
15:44And what a great dress.
15:45I know.
15:46My grandmother was a part of fashion in the 40s and had a ridiculous style.
15:53She was fun-loving and carefree.
15:54I got a lot of my traits from her.
16:00She died a couple months ago, so, I mean, it's hard.
16:01I wish she was alive to see what I was doing.
16:02She would be really proud.
16:26Be really proud
16:28So
16:30Here you can see the color palette. I was inspired by
16:34Painting the roses red type of thing. Oh from Alice in Wonderland. Yes. Okay. I understand. All right
16:39You mean you yourself were painting a color. Yeah, I painted. Okay. The fabrics generally
16:45It's silk
16:47And then this is you know ropes at the neck. I actually talk to me about the ropes
16:52I'm into ropes. I just think about people hanging themselves. Did that never cross your mind?
17:00No, can you wear this? Oh, absolutely. Why wouldn't you? I don't have to scratch my head thinking where is this coming from?
17:06Where's she going with this? My dad was tugboat captain
17:09So I use a lot of ropes in my line and that kind of comes from my roots
17:15Kenley. Yeah, this is spectacular. Really? Wow. I know do you think this should be the grand finale?
17:22Yeah, I'm just
17:36I'm not thinking about what can I do to win? I'm thinking about what do I want to do? That's my dream
17:42That's why I'm so proud of you. I feel like I worked really hard and I've come this far
17:46Thank you, Tim
17:48I will see you in a couple weeks
17:50All right, I certainly think that I have a huge chance of winning
17:55See you later
17:57It feels great to come back to New York
18:09I love my collection, but I still have a lot of work to do and I'm praying we have some time to pull it together
18:15Hello
18:17It's too quiet in here. I need some roommates
18:19Last time we left Kenley, she wasn't too happy with us. So someone's gonna have to room with her, but I just pray it's not me
18:25I was praying it was going to be you guys
18:37Kato and I we get along really well things with Henley were not so great
18:44So I just want to avoid all of the drama. I didn't mark my territory. Yes go pee on it
18:50I
19:05Still definitely want Leanne and Kato to accompany me to the tents, but I don't know. We're just gonna see how it all goes
19:12We're so sorry
19:18Let's just say this go find your room and then we'll find out
19:22It's so intimate isn't it? I'm sleeping with Kenley. Yay
19:27I don't check on you every now and make sure you have a pulse. It is all good. You might come check on me on the couch
19:31I
19:49All just like
19:52Not really knowing what to say this is a really freaking awesome place
19:58That's our sweets over there, okay
20:01I'm sorry
20:03I was being a bitch and everything
20:05I just want to be cool with everyone
20:07Yeah, it's not even worth it to be angry at people that I'm never even gonna see again. I'm not thinking about them at all
20:14I'm thinking about getting to Bryant Park
20:16I love you why would you be hurt
20:18I said to be hurt
20:20Oh my god
20:22I don't know
20:24Oh wow
20:26There's a note
20:28Designers welcome to the presidential suite at the west of New York at Times Square
20:32You have a busy week ahead of you so enjoy some champagne relax renew yourselves and I'll see you in the morning Tim Gunn
20:38Good morning Tim Gunn
20:40Thanks Tim
20:42Thank you Tim
20:44You guys all want a glass?
20:46After Kenley's apology I think the mood in the room definitely did lighten but there still is this underlying tension
20:52I'm anxious for tomorrow and to go and pull this stuff out of garment bags and see what I'm really up against
20:58I wish you all the best I really do
21:00Thank you so
21:02So we get into the workspace and everyone starts unpacking their collection I'm excited about everything I'm excited to see how it all plays out
21:20Ladies get your stuff out I'm gonna be through the critiquing in just a moment
21:24All right
21:26Hi everybody
21:28Hi Tim
21:29Can I ask you to gather around please?
21:31Welcome to the bluefly.com studio
21:35I want to congratulate each of you for making it this far
21:39But as you know only three of you will earn the right to compete at Bryant Park
21:43And to decide which three of you it will be
21:45We're giving you one more challenge
21:47I was really pissed off we were all pissed
21:51We asked each of you to design a wedding dress inspired by your collection
21:55So for this challenge
21:57You will be designing an accompanying bridesmaid dress
22:01Because I'm like
22:03Because I'm like
22:07I'm like
22:09Freaking out
22:11Coming up on Project Runway
22:13I haven't snapped on anybody yet
22:15You can do it on me
22:17I already got it from you
22:19I'm gonna snap on you Kenley
22:21Tomorrow
22:25You will present your wedding dress
22:27And your bridesmaid dress
22:29And your bridesmaid dress to the judges
22:31Will be moving forward
22:33You'll have a budget of $150
22:35Okay?
22:36So follow me
22:37We're off to mood
22:38Go, go, go
22:41Let me go
22:43Let me get three yards
22:45And I'll work it out with this tool
22:47I've actually made quite a few bridesmaid dresses
22:49And really they're not bad
22:50They're just evening dresses made to foo-foo up a wedding
22:53This could be pretty, isn't it?
22:55Yeah, that'll work
22:56I know the exact colors that I need
22:59The exact materials
23:01And what I'm gonna do
23:03Is this color a little dark and somber?
23:05No
23:06I'm the kind of designer where I get all the materials that I want to work with
23:09And then I let the materials kind of tell me what they want to become
23:12Okay, everyone, time is up
23:15Thank you, mood
23:20All right, designers
23:21You have until midnight tonight
23:23To complete your bridesmaid dress
23:26So that means you need to go, go, go on those brother sewing machines
23:29Just make it work, okay?
23:31Thank you
23:33Are you doing any headpiece or anything?
23:35Yeah, I was going to
23:36I don't know if I'm gonna have time
23:38I'll do something simple
23:40I'm going to make a really beautiful bridesmaid dress
23:43I'm also using it as an opportunity to show a little bit more color
23:48I'm calm, calm is a good thing
23:50I haven't snapped on anybody yet
23:52You can do it on me, I already got it from you
23:54Who'd I snap at?
23:55You snapped at me at the last runway show
23:58In the room
23:59I didn't snap at you because you called me boring
24:01At least I didn't say you don't deserve to be there because of your personality
24:05Yeah
24:06No, I'm not gonna snap on anyone
24:08We all know that old Kenley is still under there
24:10But she's good in my book till she pisses me off again
24:16You wanna shorten it?
24:17I don't know, I was thinking should I shorten it so it feels a little bit more
24:20That one is...
24:21So it can be long and straight, yeah
24:24To me it's, I mean, it's not the prettiest dress, but it's a bridesmaid dress
24:28It's a bridesmaid dress
24:29It's not a bridesmaid dress
24:30It's not a bridesmaid
24:31It's ugly
24:32Yeah
24:33Drell seems to think that the bridesmaids have to be butt ugly
24:35But when I got married, I wanted my girls to look pretty
24:38So for my bridesmaid dress that I'm making
24:40She's gonna be just as beautiful as the bra
24:42She's gonna stand out
24:43There's nothing wrong with your bridesmaids being cute ladies
24:46Hi everybody
24:54Hi
24:55I'm here to check in on you
24:57And I'm gonna start with you, Kenley
24:59Oh, okay
25:00So tell me what you're doing
25:01I'm doing a pleated wrap bubble dress
25:05Okay
25:06I'll have some work, I gotta take that up
25:07This is very Kenley
25:08And then the top is just gonna be a simple boat neck here
25:13In this
25:14I sense a little bit of ambivalence
25:16Well, I'm not done with this dress
25:18And I'm a little stressed out
25:19I don't want to not be in the final three
25:22Because of my bridesmaid's dress
25:24This is ambitious, but you've done a lot with it
25:27And I like the whole spirit and flavor of this wedding
25:29It makes me want to go
25:30It'll be fun and upbeat
25:32Just do it
25:33Carry on, Kenley
25:34All right
25:35Thank you
25:36Thanks
25:37Drell
25:38Hey Tim, how's it going?
25:39Talk to me
25:40What I try to do is play out the colors of the stones
25:41In the bust of the wedding gown
25:43Because this really is the Olympics
25:45Someone's going to lose by a thousandth of a second
25:47Mm-hmm
25:48I just look at the puckering
25:50Was all that going to come out?
25:52Um, yeah, I hope so
25:54This just looks sloppy
25:56I was thinking about like hand sewing this on with this yarn
25:59Like around the green here
26:01Oh
26:02Don't you want this to look like it grew out of the fabric?
26:07Okay
26:08Have it be invisible
26:09Whatever you do
26:10Don't fight with Mother Nature
26:11Or Nina Garcia
26:12Thank you, Jerrell
26:16Leanne
26:17Hi, Tim
26:18How are you?
26:19I'm good
26:20I've got a lot of sewing left of you
26:21I cannot help but notice that something has happened to your wedding dress since I last saw it
26:25It's a new dress
26:26Yeah, essentially it's a new dress
26:28I've thought a lot about the dress that I saw that it was like a masterful technical piece
26:35But it wasn't making music
26:37Uh-huh
26:38You're making music
26:39Thank you
26:40So talk to me about your bridesmaid dress
26:42You know, for my bridesmaid's dress I'm gonna put in a bit more of the color
26:47And I'm doing the wave detail emphasis on the top
26:53Will you please bring a lot of thought and consideration to the length?
26:57Yeah, I think I'm gonna do it shorter
26:59It's gonna be cuter
27:00All right
27:01Thanks, Tim
27:02All right
27:03Kato
27:04How are you?
27:05More importantly, how are you?
27:07Good
27:08My wedding dress isn't like a full bottom wedding dress
27:11It's somewhat full but not really
27:13I mean, can I tell you what I see?
27:14Mm-hmm
27:15I see two wedding dresses
27:17These colors are so close
27:20Why?
27:21I didn't really find it and they want to get a color that was out of nowhere
27:26They're each beautiful dresses
27:28I just feel at this point they're in competition
27:31Gotcha
27:32All right
27:33Got to work
27:34All right, everybody
27:38I'm gonna leave you for the night
27:40It's just critically important that you have got to be able to stand by your work tomorrow
27:44And not feel you made any decisions that you weren't confident about, okay?
27:49I care deeply about each of you and I don't want to see any of you not move forward
27:55You've worked so hard
27:57And I really believe in you
28:00And I apologize for this, I just can't help myself
28:04I really care about you
28:06All right
28:08So work hard tonight
28:09I will see you in the morning, everybody
28:11Okay?
28:12Thank you
28:13I love you
28:14I love you
28:15I see all the work I have to do and I'm looking at the time and it's not adding up
28:20At this point I'm freaking out like I'm about to have a breakdown
28:23I am utterly exhausted but this is it, this is my chance
28:29I don't want to blow it
28:30I'm gonna create the most amazing dress and claim my spot at Bright Park
28:35Coming up on Project Runway
28:40I would not want to be the bride, I would not want to wear this dress
28:42You didn't put a lot of thought into this
28:44I didn't get bridesmaid at all
29:01Wow, all I can say is damn, it's the last elimination and it all comes down to these two dresses
29:07So this is like it
29:08The elimination
29:10Going through all of these challenges, it was so much work and the thought of not making it to Bryant Park is horrible
29:18Let's go lovely ladies
29:20And the rest of you too, come on
29:32You been a good girl
29:33I started to shorten my bridesmaid dress after Tim came to visit
29:37Didn't really get as much done last night as I wanted to
29:40But I'm gonna work it out this morning and just use my time very wisely
29:44Good morning designers
29:48Good morning Tom
29:50How are you?
29:51Good
29:52I am about to send in your models
29:54Then you need to send them to the L'Oreal Paris Makeup Room
29:57And the rest of my hair salon
29:59All right
30:01Is everyone listening to me?
30:02Yes
30:04You're deeply entrenched in your work, which is good
30:06Yeah
30:07All right, I'm sending in your models
30:08Thank you
30:09Thank you
30:10Ladies, come on in
30:11Okay, turn
30:12All right, that's a good length
30:20I thought I was the only one doing a short bridesmaids dress
30:25But today I noticed that Leigh-Anne and Coteau shortened their bridesmaids dresses and knocked me off
30:31It pissed me off
30:32Good times
30:34I'm doing pretty good this morning
30:36I pretty much just have to finish the back of the wedding gown
30:39Can you help me put her in this?
30:41Just make sure when you walk out that this is going this way for me, okay?
30:44Okay
30:45I don't know about Coteau's design
30:48And I'll make a little tulle skirt for you
30:50It's too labored over
30:52It doesn't really look that much like a wedding dress
30:54Come on all you lovely ladies, it's time for us to
30:56Roll out, we've gotta go get hair and makeup done
30:59Maybe a bit of a messy bun
31:04Yeah
31:11This is gorgeous
31:12Fresh
31:21That looks cute actually
31:23I'm just so happy once I see the wedding dress on Tia
31:27And I can tell that she loves wearing it
31:30Alright designers and models, you ready?
31:33Let's go
31:34Off to the runway
31:38I'm a great designer
31:39I believe in my wedding dress
31:40My bridesmaid dress is beautiful
31:42But somebody's going home today
31:44And I love everybody in that room
31:46Even Ken Lee
31:47So
31:48I don't want it to be me
31:50And I don't want it to be anyone else
31:52This is a really sad situation
31:55Somebody's dream is gonna be ruined
31:58Alright, thank you
32:07Hello
32:08Hi Heidi
32:09Welcome back to the runway
32:11When I last saw you
32:12I asked you to create a wedding dress
32:14Inspired by your collection
32:16And yesterday we had you create a bridesmaid dress
32:20To accompany it
32:21These two looks will determine which three of you
32:24Move on to compete
32:26Bryan Park
32:27Okay, let's meet the judges
32:31First we have top American designer Michael Kors
32:34Welcome back
32:35Hey Michael
32:36And Nina Garcia
32:37Edit Art Large for Elle Magazine
32:39Hi everyone
32:40Good luck
32:41Hi Nina
32:42Hi
32:43We will score your designs as they come down the runway
32:47Good luck
32:48And let's start the show
32:57I think that my wedding dress is gorgeous
32:59Checking out the judges faces
33:00Seems like they like it
33:01I think it speaks to who I am
33:02And I think it definitely reads wedding gown
33:05And then the bridesmaid's dress
33:10This blue is iridescent
33:12And the sash is actually the same silk taffeta as the wedding dress
33:17It's beautiful
33:18I'm very proud
33:26When I saw my wedding dress on Tapasio I was blown away
33:30I'm gonna make that exact same wedding dress
33:32And I'm gonna wear it at my wedding
33:34The bridesmaid's dress fits in beautifully
33:37It's a dress that any girl would want to wear
33:40I think I have a huge chance of going to Bryan Park
33:51The look I'm going for with my bride and bridesmaid
33:53Is really simple, chic and fresh
33:55And I hope the judges see Kato
33:59I'm not really out there like Kim Lee or Regal
34:01Like Jerrell
34:02And I don't have the kind of aesthetic that Leigh-Anne has
34:04I have my own flavor
34:05And hopefully that'll be appreciated
34:06I am just in awe of Tia on the runway in the wedding dress
34:19She looks beautiful
34:20I'm just so glad that I made all the changes that I did to it
34:24And the bridesmaid's dress just fit in flawlessly
34:30I couldn't be any happier
34:32We've scored your designs
34:42Three of you will move on to compete at Fashion Week
34:45And one of you will be out
34:48Let's bring out your models
34:49I would like to start with Leigh-Anne
35:01Leigh-Anne, I have to say that this is so chic
35:05Beautifully crafted
35:07And right away, the minute it turned the corner
35:10I knew it was yours
35:11The fabric is very interesting
35:15It's modern, but it's dreamy
35:17And it's you
35:18I love the bridesmaid's dress
35:20It's absolutely beautiful
35:22Thank you
35:23How does this relate to your larger collection?
35:26My collection is inspired by waves
35:29The pattern, definitely the movement
35:32Translated by me, which is done a little bit architecturally
35:36And certainly the colors are an absolute reflection of the colors in my collection
35:43I love it too
35:44I think you did a fantastic job
35:46Thank you
35:49Jor-El?
35:50I like the wedding gown from the umpire line down
35:55But these wings over her boobs
35:58Plus then the jeweled boobs
36:00Plus then the jewels under the boobs
36:02And then of course she's got, you know, a flower pot growing out of her head
36:05It's a little garish
36:07Really?
36:08Personally, I think it's regal
36:09It's opulent
36:10I definitely tried to keep what a lot of women are going to want to wear in mine
36:13I don't really know what to think about it, to be honest with you
36:16It does look a bit messy
36:19And the bridesmaid dress is a bit
36:21Mom
36:22Mumsy
36:23She's missing gloves
36:25This bride's dress
36:27That choice of gray makes it look like it's dirty
36:31I don't know
36:32I just think that you didn't put a lot of thought into this
36:35And I worry about your collection
36:38I don't know if it's in the same spirit as this
36:41Yeah, it's certainly not
36:42It wouldn't be that I didn't put too much thought into it
36:45Why do you deserve to go to Fashion Week?
36:47I think that if given the opportunity to show you guys really what I've been slaving over
36:52I think that you guys will be pleased
36:54Okay, moving on to Ken Lee
36:57I will tell you, the dress is a little Alexander McQueen
37:00Really?
37:01Bothers me a touch, quite honestly
37:03It is a dead ringer for the McQueen dress that just walked the runway
37:08No, there's no silhouette like that
37:10I wish the McQueen wasn't there for me, quite frankly
37:13I wish it wasn't either
37:14But it's done beautifully
37:17Oh, good
37:18It's romantic without being syrupy
37:20I think the funny thing is
37:22Even though I know it looks like the McQueen dress
37:24It still looks like Ken Lee
37:26The Bridesmaid is the cutest damn dress I've ever seen
37:31Yes!
37:32I could see you wear that too on your wedding day
37:35I will
37:36Yeah
37:37I think it's crazy good
37:39Oh my gosh, Heidi
37:41I love you
37:44Kato
37:46I have to say, I would not want to be the bride
37:49I would not want to wear this dress
37:50There are so many elements to this dress
37:53I mean, it never ends
37:55Serious?
37:56Really?
37:57The detailing of the dress have a lot to do with what my collection is based on
38:01I didn't think it looked unflattering on her
38:04The wedding dress is really overworked
38:08And then the bridesmaid is way underworked
38:11I think your bridesmaid's dress has no relevance to your bride's dress
38:17Honestly
38:18Yeah
38:19Why do you deserve to go to Bryan Park?
38:21I have a different point of view
38:22A point of view that not necessarily is always shown
38:25And I really do feel like when you see my collection you will see a winner in it
38:29I just really want this chance to show you
38:34Okay, we've heard what you had to say
38:36We're going to have a little chat
38:37And then I'm going to call you back
38:39You can use the runway
38:50Let's talk about who he liked
38:52When you think about Leanne where she loves all of that architectural work put into clothes
38:57That's not an easy thing to translate into a wedding dress
39:00No
39:01It's not easy to make it romantic
39:03And she was able to do that modern with the romantic
39:07I mean that was a beautiful, beautiful wedding dress
39:10Another one we liked was Ken Lee
39:13I have to say also a job well done
39:16It would be a fun wedding to go to whoever wears that wedding dress
39:19She's kooky and meticulous at the same time
39:23Yeah
39:24Well, let's just think about the show that we're about to see
39:26And it could be a beautiful finale dress
39:28Mm-hmm
39:29It's a dream
39:30It's a fantasy
39:32What about Kato?
39:34She wanted to show us how many pleats and how many, you know, overkill
39:39Yes
39:40And then on the other hand you looked at her bridesmaid and
39:43And
39:44Boring
39:45I didn't get bridesmaid at all
39:47Honestly, Nina, you could buy that dress anywhere
39:49Sure
39:50Yeah
39:51And together
39:52There's one big mess
39:53How about Jor-El?
39:55Overwrought like times 20,000 jewels on the cups and then the hanging
40:00He wants to show that he can do all these things
40:03All he does, Heidi, is embellish things
40:06You said, hey, go hog wild, do whatever
40:08And boy, he went hog wild
40:12So we've made our decision
40:16Let's bring them back out
