04:24Your challenge is to design a look for my character,
04:26Wendy Healey, on the show Lipstick Jungle.
04:28Cool.
04:30It's going to be a departure from last year.
04:32Wendy is a very high-powered studio executive.
04:35She's also a mother of two.
04:37She's married to a musician, and they've lived this sort of
04:39great bohemian life, and then she sort of worked her way up
04:42and is now running an entire studio.
04:44I have a dossier for each of you of Wendy Healey's look from season one.
04:49Her character's the wife of the musician, and, like, I have a lot of friends in that situation
04:54back home, so I'm stoked.
04:56The real challenge is trying to design a look that will carry her from day to night.
05:01She needs to be able to be in the boardroom, be in the office, and then still be at a very glamorous event in the evening.
05:07And there's one more thing.
05:10You will be working in teams of two.
05:16I know that some of the designers don't really know what they're doing, so I got worried.
05:22You will have a half hour to sketch, after which you will be pitching your concepts to Brooke,
05:28who in turn will select six designers to move forward with their designs.
05:33All right, your time to sketch starts now.
05:45Coming out of this last Olympic challenge, I feel like I really need to listen to what the challenge calls for.
05:50It's got to be sexy, and it's got to be simple.
05:56It's going to be innovative.
05:57She can lower or drop the sleeve, whether she's going out or she's got a day in the office.
06:02But yet, it's going to make her look nice and leggy and sexy.
06:08Bohemia, to me, has made the animal prints of brown, so I automatically thought a good leopard print.
06:16I want to win a challenge really badly.
06:18I think I'm extremely talented.
06:20Coming from a Middle Eastern background, my mom being Moroccan and my father Israeli definitely allows me to see how varied women could be in different cultures.
06:30And I would be honored to have my design chosen.

06:53So what I've created is a jacket with a nice pointed collar, very simple.

07:27I wanted to kind of give her something a little bit different, like maybe a Bermuda short.
07:31You know, it's not a bad idea.
07:34I was thinking about a little bit of a ruffled chiffon organza top.
07:39I love the mixture of textures there.
07:42Is this slightly ruffled?
07:44Yeah, it's actually like layers of fringe that I would create.
07:47That's kind of my thing.
07:48I definitely have worked with different body types and whatnot.

07:52And so no one's as tall and has such, you know, straight legs as you do.

07:57Over the dress, it would be a corset.

08:07The look I went for was a shirt, preferably like an orange or a lime green with some beadwork.

14:56So, having that accessibility of just being able to flip on lipstick jungle and see something of mine, I'm sure she'd be really proud.

30:18When I see my look come down the runway, it's really pretty.
30:20The color is beautiful.
30:21It looks great on my model.
30:24I do think Kato saved the jacket from what it was originally.
30:28So I think what ultimately came out was perfect.
30:39I wasn't 100% happy with the garment.
30:41It's a good silhouette, and I feel like it does stand out,
30:45but that could be good or bad.
30:47It looks kind of dynasty to me.
30:50It definitely turned from a suit to a two-piece ensemble.
30:54I am so happy.
31:00It's smart.
31:02It's sophisticated.
31:03It's fun.
31:04It's got a little bit of an edge to it.
31:07It looks amazing, and Brooke actually looks over at me
31:10and kind of gives me this smiley, like, yay, it's right thing,
31:13which I wasn't expecting.

31:24I am overwhelmed.
31:25I'm so proud of me and Kenley and what we created.
31:28It looks clean and beautiful.
31:30It's definitely meeting all of Brooke's needs for her character,

31:36I wouldn't have done anything differently.
31:38And my girl looks beautiful.

33:18I would like to start with Jerelle and Stella.
33:32Well, definitely try to take note of all the things that you share with us, Miss Shields,
33:36like that your character is really eclectic,
33:38and it had to be something that really could translate from, like, the boardroom to some swank nightclub.
33:42I do think the mixture and texture is perfect for the day and tonight.
33:47I'm concerned about the belt only because it makes it feel like there's a lot going on.
33:52I loved it. I don't mind the belt at all. I think it's cool.
33:56When it came out, I was like, boom.
33:59The outfit is well made. The silhouette is flirty and feminine and sexy without being cheap.
34:07It's chic and it's good looking.
34:10Kelly and Daniel, who did exactly what?
34:15I did the jacket and Daniel did the belt and the skirt.
34:19We both worked on the bustier together.
34:21We figured a kind of sexy suit would be ideal and she could just easily take it off at night.
34:27The shape of it, I feel, is the truly unfortunate part.
34:32It just looks so much cheaper than I thought it could look.

36:08Talking with Brooke, I just had an understanding of how her character grew up with a knowledge of fashion.
36:14And then going into season two, she's starting to implement more of her own bohemian style.
36:19I said I was scared when I made you one of the choices, but I liked how inspired you were.
36:28But I think for Wendy, it's a bit too casual and not sophisticated enough.
36:34I mean, I looked down the road and I can see your character.
36:37She's not going to be constantly, like, restricted.
36:40But I don't think you listened to what she had to say.
36:44And Leanne, I am very surprised that you allowed this, this...
36:51She looks like a woman that didn't have a mirror.
36:53Really?
36:54Yes, and it was really dark and she just grabbed things, put it on.
36:57I mean, you guys all know that I'm a little crazier than, you know, I'm always trying to give you something different.

37:05But you know what? If you're going to take a risk, then let's make the pieces special.

38:04But at the same time, it was very feminine.

38:21Keith really thought about the challenge, and he really delivered something that was for lipstick jungle, and that was appropriate for the character.

38:40I think that Kelly really just wanted to show what Kelly likes.
38:45Seeing the drawing, I thought, okay, we could get away with an amped-up type of a top and kept a classiness, but it just didn't get executed.
38:53I questioned both of their taste levels, but particularly her, because she actually was the leader of this.
39:02But then Daniel has not really brought a lot to the table on this challenge or on the other challenges.
39:08Blaine and Leanne.
39:12It's almost about the wrong taste for the task at hand.
