00:01Previously on Project Runway...
00:03This is your unconventional materials challenge.
00:09It's cute, right?
00:10It's so pretty.
00:12Wow, I'm excited already.
00:18Ben, congratulations.
00:20You are the winner of this challenge.
00:22Thank you very much.
00:23You didn't transform the fabric, quite honestly.
00:25Lanti, you're out.
00:27Welcome to Season 10 of Project Runway.
00:32We're back.
00:33Has it really been that long?
00:34You look fabulous.
00:36We've never looked better.
00:37This is my runway.
00:39Get it together.
00:4016 designers.
00:42One intense competition.
00:44They have no idea.
00:45Three finalists.
00:46Are you ready for me?
00:47I'll sew circles around you.
00:49And one winner.
00:51This is Project Runway Season 10.
00:54The winner of Project Runway will receive $50,000 in technology and office space from HP and Intel to bring their creativity to life and run their business.
01:05A fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine.
01:08A 2013 Lexus GS 350.
01:11$100,000 from L'Oreal Paris to start their own line.
01:14And the chance to design and sell an exclusive collection at Lord & Taylor.
01:19The model paired with the winner of Project Runway will receive a fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine and $25,000 from L'Oreal Paris ever style.
01:28I'm so proud of you.
01:35I mean, I really worked hard on that.
01:37At the end of the day, I'm happy that I went through with my vision.
01:40Should we get going?
01:41Yeah.
01:42Ready to kick for now?
01:48Hi, guys.
01:49Hi.
01:50Well, I'll come back to the runway.
01:52Then you won the last challenge.
01:54That means you have immunity for this week and you cannot be eliminated.
01:58For your next challenge, you're going to have to make a look that is red carpet ready.
02:02There are a lot of twists and turns that Tim and his special guests will tell you all about later.
02:07They're waiting for you at South Street Seaport.
02:10And I'll see you back here on the runway.
02:12Bye, everybody.
02:13Bye.
02:14Good morning, designers, and welcome to the Lexus Challenge.
02:25For this challenge, you will be creating a red carpet look for a very special client.
02:31And that client is someone who has a good deal of empathy for what it is that you're experiencing now on Project Runway.
02:39And this isn't just any red carpet look.
02:42This is a red carpet look for the Emmys.
02:45It's a big deal.
02:48A very big deal.
02:50The color of the Lexus GS vehicle that you're assigned to must be incorporated into the look that you design.
02:58You will have $300 and one day to complete your look.
03:03I am delighted to introduce you to Brian Bolain.
03:05And Brian's going to tell us about these gorgeous cars.
03:08Good morning, designers.
03:09It's great to see all of you.
03:11The all-new GS is really the first step in a complete transformation for the Lexus brand.
03:17So while Lexus is now making a very bold statement with its new products, we feel like it's now your opportunity to do the same thing on the runway.
03:24The Lexus GS is going to take you to meet your very special client.
03:31You will have 30 minutes to consult and to sketch.
03:35And then I'm going to be meeting you at Mood.
03:38For this challenge, you will be working in teams of two to create one red carpet Emmy look.
03:45I don't like to work with anyone.
03:48And who does?
03:49In order to determine our teams of two, I'm going to be giving each of you a key to one of these cars.
03:55So there are two keys for each car.
03:58For you, Christopher.
04:01When it comes to my work, I'm a little bit of a control freak.
04:05But who isn't?
04:07So Christopher, you're first.
04:12Yes, go over to your vehicle.
04:22Yay!
04:23I love her aesthetic.
04:25And the two of us are going to win this with our eyes closed.
04:37My heart sinks down to my stomach.
04:42My worst fear came true.
04:45I feel like we haven't really seen eye to eye.
04:48And I think she's also got a very different design aesthetic to me.
04:52Don't know how this is going to work out.
04:54Thank God I'm paired up with Alicia.
05:12Our background is Ben's work, so we're just hoping that whoever is going to be a client, it's a man.
05:19Get in your cars!
05:24Anything we draw, I can construct. I know you're good with detailing.
05:27Yeah.
05:32Hi!
05:33My client is Anya.
05:34How's it going?
05:35Good, good.
05:36Well, you know how it's going.
05:37Yes, I do.
05:39Maybe she can give us some advice.
05:40So we're going to sit and talk a while about what you have in mind?
05:43Absolutely.
05:44And what you'd like to see yourself in?
05:45Let's do it.
05:46Okay.
05:49It's Mila.
05:50Cool.
05:51Oh, she's dressed cool. That's fun.
05:52Yeah.
05:53Hi Mila.
05:54Hi.
05:55Raul.
05:56She's very rock and roll.
05:57Very edgy.
05:58And she's wearing a jacket, so I think that she could be very into menswear.
06:01Well, this is going to be different.
06:07Hey, how are you?
06:08Hi.
06:09I mean them, right?
06:10Yes, nice meeting you.
06:11Gunnar.
06:12Nice to meet you, Gunnar.
06:13Very nice to meet you.
06:14Nice meeting you.
06:15It needs to be fabulous.
06:23Hi.
06:24Hi.
06:25I'm Melissa.
06:26I'm April.
06:27Nice to meet you.
06:28April has a gothic aesthetic, and we think we're a great match for each other.
06:31Are you going to keep your hair purple?
06:33Mm-hmm.
06:34Awesome.
06:39Hi.
06:40Hello.
06:41How are you guys?
06:42Good.
06:43Welcome.
06:44She's, you know, pretty.
06:45She's slightly edgy.
06:46You know, cutouts, patterns, something that's like streamlined and clean.
06:51Her design aesthetic I think is similar to what I like, and I think that'll help me in
06:55this challenge.
06:57Hello.
06:58Hello.
06:59Hello.
07:00Welcome to Williamsburg.
07:01Welcome to Williamsburg.
07:02Laura.
07:03Laura.
07:04She's wearing an animal print dress under a jacket.
07:06As soon as I see that, I feel very, very comfortable.
07:12Oh, this should be fun.
07:13I think her style definitely has a point of view.
07:18It's definitely not my aesthetic.
07:19Well, as you can see, I love vintage.
07:21Yeah.
07:22I'm very, like, quirky, but I like, and I'm fashion-forward.
07:25I think white could be really amazing.
07:28We thought we'd maybe accent with some black.
07:31Well, don't make me look like a checkerboard.
07:33So what parts of your body are you uncomfortable about?
07:37I never like showing my stomach, like, I don't like.
07:40Okay.
07:41Oh, we're not doing that.
07:42Right, exactly.
07:43Which I'm sure you want.
07:44Yeah.
07:45Don't make me look fat.
07:46Sparkly or that has great movement.
07:48Everything's going really well right now.
07:50You know, we have men's wear backgrounds, both of us.
07:52Are you guys scared of gowns at all,
07:54if you have men's wear backgrounds?
07:55I've never done a gown.
07:59Let's say we had, like, a few curves here.
08:02And if it's coming into a cap sleeve.
08:03What kind of collar are you thinking about?
08:05Collar?
08:06Collar.
08:07Collar or collar?
08:08Collar.
08:09We'll rush up the turtleneck,
08:10and it looks kind of more casual and what's the word?
08:16Casual.
08:17Too much.
08:18Too much.
08:19No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
08:20It has to flow.
08:21It has to be continuous.
08:23Oh, wow.
08:24Look at that.
08:25Kind of what we had in mind.
08:26Big shoulders like this with the sparkles up on top.
08:28Yeah.
08:29Yeah, it's so easy to talk about these ideas, right?
08:30I know.
08:31I know.
08:32It's easy to execute them.
08:33We're going to get the mood and freak out.
08:38All right, design teams.
08:40Think Emmy red carpet.
08:42And your time starts right now.
08:47I don't really do prints, but I do like this.
08:55Mm-hmm.
08:56You have ten minutes remaining.
09:00And that's it.
09:01Time's up.
09:02Thank you, Moon.
09:05Oh, over here.
09:06Oh, gorgeous.
09:07Mm-hmm.
09:08Mm-hmm.
09:09Who did you get, Chris?
09:10Anya.
09:11Boop.
09:12I love her.
09:13Yes.
09:14We got Kenley.
09:15Shut up.
09:16I know.
09:17She is so loud.
09:18I know.
09:19You did?
09:20She had on a Peter Pan collar.
09:21Oh, my God.
09:22Who did you get, Connor?
09:23I got Irina.
09:24The one that knows exactly what she wants.
09:27She's very picky.
09:28Is she?
09:29Yeah.
09:30Coming up on Project Runway.
09:31I think it's borderline vulgar.
09:32I don't want Mila to look like she's coming from a pool party.
09:33It's just like a slippery little mess.
09:37Okay, so...
09:38Just an idea.
09:39This week is a team challenge.
09:40We have to create an Emmys red carpet look for a former Project Runway designer.
09:44So, what I'm thinking of doing is...
09:46I'm thinking of doing this.
09:47Is she?
09:48Is she?
09:49Is she?
09:50Yeah.
09:51Coming up on Project Runway.
09:52I think it's borderline vulgar.
09:54I don't want Mila to look like she's coming from a pool party.
09:56It's just like a slippery little mess.
09:58Okay, so...
09:59Just an idea.
10:00This week is a team challenge.
10:01We have to create an Emmys red carpet look for a former Project Runway designer.
10:05So, what I'm thinking of doing is...
10:07Yeah.
10:08Dark here.
10:09Dark here.
10:10I think that sounds good.
10:11And perhaps we can...
10:12It will be fabric...
10:13Our client is another designer.
10:14And she has a very strong opinion.
10:16So, it's not just Alicia and I designing this dress.
10:20There's this other girl.
10:22The thing is, she specifically said she does not want fitted.
10:27Yeah.
10:28She wants full skirt and she wants a boat neck.
10:30Yes.
10:31Our client is Ken Lee from Season 5.
10:33She has a strong point of view.
10:35She's very outspoken.
10:36So, it's not that.
10:38It's more like that.
10:40You have more of a vision of the front, just like I have more of a vision of the back.
10:43We just have to make sure they connect in the right places.
10:45Oh, look at this.
10:46This is gorgeous.
10:47Gorge.
10:48My client is Anya, the winner of Season 9, Project Runway.
10:53She doesn't want flowy fabrics that look like she made herself.
10:57She wants a sleek, sophisticated look.
11:00Something more structured.
11:01I wish we could have just found pleated fabric.
11:03Yeah.
11:04Just like make sure that they're like...
11:06And like about an inch apart, approximately.
11:08Not an inch.
11:09Less.
11:10Okay.
11:11Laura likes things that are dramatic.
11:13This is perfect for me and Elena, because we're definitely not run-of-the-mill, normal conservative designers.
11:19Designers, may I have your attention for just a moment, please?
11:27You will have until midnight tonight and precious little time tomorrow to complete this challenge.
11:33There are two of you working on a single look, remember.
11:36I will be back later in the day along with your clients.
11:40Okay.
11:41And the winner of this challenge will accompany their client to the Emmys.
11:47This is mega, mega, mega amazing, exciting news.
12:04This is going to take ages.
12:06I know.
12:07Oh.
12:14It's really cool.
12:15Our Lexus is red.
12:16I'm not a big fan of red, but we're going to make it work.
12:19What we have in mind is to have an open bag.
12:22It's going to be long.
12:23Kind of fit it for me and then lose.
12:28Oh, God.
12:30So I've been doing this for an hour, babe.
12:32Hurry up, please.
12:33We just need to get this done.
12:34Babe, I am.
12:35Like go as fast as you can.
12:37I am.
12:38What do you think I'm doing?
12:41We had just enough fabric.
12:46We ended up using silk charmousse, which is one of the most difficult fabrics to work with.
12:53Oh, silk charmousse is such a pain in the butt.
12:55Once you put a machine stitch here, it's ruined.
12:57Oh, my God.
12:58It's ruined.
12:59Oh, my God.
13:00Oh, my God.
13:01Oh, my God.
13:02What?
13:03I'm freaked out.
13:04All this time being wasted, I swear to .
13:08Can you calm down?
13:10How is everyone?
13:12Good.
13:13Your clients are joining me for the critiques today.
13:16Gentlemen, look who I am.
13:18Hey, guys.
13:19So we ended up sketching and thinking to design like this way.
13:23Okay.
13:24We thought it'd be interesting to have the side panel going down.
13:28And this is the fabric?
13:29Yes.
13:30There are two.
13:31Stretch chiffon.
13:32Okay.
13:33And where are you using them?
13:34So it'll be the sheer and the sheer, the solid, the solid.
13:38It does come down, hugs you really nicely.
13:41If you're confident in being able to complete that seeming, how's it going?
13:46It's going to be either super amazing or...
13:51Look at it right now.
13:52It's almost like it's liquid.
13:53Mm-hmm.
13:54Yeah.
13:55Well, I love it because my hair is so obnoxious right now.
13:57It's a perfect base to that.
13:58You know what I mean?
13:59My hair is going to pop.
14:00It's a great canvas.
14:01You can move forward now.
14:03We have red as our color for the Lexus, but we didn't really want to go solid red.
14:09It's red carpet.
14:10So we found this silk print that we thought was really cool, kind of edgy.
14:15We decided to plate with leather and do some straps in the back.
14:20One thing that I'm concerned about is a print for the red carpet because it can look daytime.
14:26Okay.
14:27I'm with you.
14:28You don't want Mila to look like she's come from a pool party.
14:30Right.
14:31Okay.
14:32I mean, it's a perfectly nice top, just not for this event.
14:36Right.
14:37Fabulous.
14:38This is so bizarre.
14:39We got it in navy because the car is navy, so we went with that color story.
14:41Of course.
14:43You have great taste in fabric, obviously.
14:45So what I'm planning on doing is to have flat here and then create some volume on the bottom.
14:50And we'll go to the neckline.
14:51That's pretty.
14:52But basically focus the volume on the bottom.
14:54Focus the volume.
14:55Exactly.
14:56It's normal.
14:57Very like modern Grace Kelly.
14:58Yeah, it's modern.
14:59That's what I wanted.
15:00Look who I have.
15:01How are you?
15:02How are you all doing?
15:03You got this.
15:04Go for the prize.
15:05You've made progress.
15:06Yeah, I like what I see.
15:07You actually have something on a dress form.
15:08We weren't quite sure how she felt about sequin, but we wanted something that we felt like
15:12really made a bold statement.
15:14Right.
15:15It looks very Emmy-ish.
15:16Yeah.
15:17And you know, if you want to go lower with the neckline, that's fine too.
15:19We were going to try that on.
15:20Yeah.
15:21I don't have a ton of cleavage, so I think I'm allowed to do that then.
15:23So we cut you this very, very linear neckline.
15:25So the belt in the back with the...
15:28We love the gold, but we don't know if we like the black.
15:32I prefer the black.
15:33Me too.
15:34You do?
15:35I think it's a little more rocker.
15:36It's a little more edgy.
15:37Yeah, totally.
15:38I agree.
15:39And this is the angle that the back and all of this will be open here.
15:42Okay.
15:43However, I tend to like showing one or the other.
15:45Right.
15:46Versus both.
15:47Both.
15:48Okay.
15:49I agree with you.
15:50You don't do skin, skin.
15:51Yeah.
15:52Okay.
15:53So safe for the front.
15:54I mean, we could bring it all the way up to like...
15:56That could be really stunning.
15:57Yeah.
15:58I always like the element of surprise.
16:00Yes.
16:01When someone turns around on the red carpet and all of a sudden...
16:03Yes.
16:04Yes.
16:05He's looking at me like...
16:06Yeah.
16:07Get out of here.
16:08Please leave.
16:09I'm just confused as to...
16:12Keep what we have here.
16:13Just fill in.
16:14Fill in.
16:15Yeah.
16:16Fill it in with what?
16:17I'm sorry.
16:18With this.
16:19We don't have any more of this.
16:20What's in the garbage?
16:21Pull out what's in the garbage.
16:22As long as it's dark.
16:23God.
16:24We could use some of the chiffon to fill in underneath here.
16:27That could be gorgeous.
16:28Then you see the architecture of it without it being only skin.
16:31Beautiful.
16:32You look completely...
16:33No.
16:34I'm so nervous.
16:35No, no, no.
16:36We're good.
16:37We're good.
16:38Coming up on Project Runway.
16:39I'm calm.
16:40Don't tell me to calm down.
16:41I actually don't want to do this.
16:43I want to walk out.
16:44What is she talking about?
16:50So Buffy and Elena, how are you all doing?
16:52Black was our main color.
16:54So we're going to do the organza pleated on top of the pink.
16:57So you're going to see that through it.
16:59This took her an hour to pleat.
17:01So we kind of underestimated how much time it's going to take us.
17:05And how much have you pleated?
17:06For the first time in Project Runway history.
17:08About a yard and a half.
17:09A yard and a half?
17:10Yeah.
17:11Look, I love the design.
17:12I just think, as Tim would say, it's very ambitious.
17:14You are making this infinitely more complicated than it needs to be.
17:18Yeah.
17:19I agree.
17:22I mean, I think to come up with a different system to do this part of the dress.
17:26Exactly.
17:27So you're going to start...
17:28Let's just do it.
17:29Okay, but just calm down though, because we're just like giving each other too much work.
17:32I'm calm.
17:33Yeah.
17:34Don't tell me to calm down, please.
17:43You can't keep screaming a hundred things at me.
17:45That's the challenge of the challenge.
17:47She's going to blame me for everything.
17:48Oh, yeah.
17:49I'm realizing now that Buffy is not going to be able to help me with the construction of
17:56the dress.
17:57She's moving at a snail speed.
17:59I'm handling this by working even faster.
18:02How's it going?
18:03You do the front, I'll do the back, yeah?
18:04Okay.
18:05All right.
18:06Oh, dear lord.
18:07Where's my queenie pie?
18:08Hello.
18:09Hello.
18:10Go ahead, cinch.
18:11Cinch.
18:12I feel really sexy.
18:13It's not exactly what we wanted, but you look great.
18:14It looks great.
18:15See, that's totally covered.
18:16I think that's beautiful.
18:17Fit wise, it's great.
18:18I want to pull this in quite a bit on you.
18:19Guys, this is fabulous.
18:20It is.
18:21It's lovely.
18:22I know, we decided to just go with the black fabric that we had.
18:23You did.
18:24Do we have an hour before?
18:25We just need to have a dress.
18:26Yeah.
18:27I don't know what to do with this.
18:28It's totally chewing the same.
18:29It's the same.
18:30It's the same.
18:31It's the same.
18:32It's the same.
18:33It's the same.
18:34It's the same.
18:35That's the same.
18:36It's the same.
18:37It's the same.
18:38It's the same.
18:39It's the same.
18:40It's the same.
18:41It's the same.
18:42I don't know what to do with this.
18:43It's totally chewing this up.
18:45I don't know about this.
18:47I hate silk.
18:48Hey, guys, it's midnight.
18:55Oh, my word.
18:58So who's going to go home tomorrow?
19:01Me or Andrea.
19:02She was preparing the entire day.
19:05She just started sewing it an hour ago.
19:08But she also didn't cut it right.
19:10I'm going to go kill myself in the bathroom with my bias couch.
19:15I'll see you guys tomorrow.
19:17Night.
19:27Good morning, design teams.
19:29How is everyone?
19:29Hi, Tim.
19:31You have two hours to send your models to the L'Oreal Paris hair and makeup room
19:37and to prep them for the runway.
19:39I should actually say your clients.
19:42Your clients are your models today.
19:44All right.
19:45Use the Lord & Taylor accessory wall thoughtfully.
19:49I'll be back.
19:50It's clean.
20:08It's gorgeous.
20:09It balances here.
20:09It's exactly what I want.
20:11Awesome.
20:11If you want to, like, give it some outweigh, so when she moves, it kicks out.
20:22Do you want to make it super blunt?
20:24You can add more hair?
20:25Yeah.
20:25Yeah.
20:25No texture, soft, and romantic.
20:29That's perfect.
20:30I like it.
20:30It's fun.
20:31I like it.
20:31Fun.
20:32Yeah.
20:32Work it out.
20:37Kind of bronzy tones on her eyes.
20:39Beautiful.
20:40And it really picked up the brown in your eyes.
20:41Yeah.
20:42Very 1960s, romantic with just, like, a strong eye contoured.
20:45I mean, do you guys want to send me out like that?
20:51No, we don't want to send you out like this.
20:53I seem the only one concerned about this.
20:55We would not be freaking out if we weren't concerned, is the deal.
20:59All right, designers and clients, it is time to go down to the runway.
21:04All right, you're the caboose.
21:21Hello.
21:22Hi.
21:23Welcome to the runway.
21:24As you know, in fashion, one day you're in, and the next day, you're out.
21:29There are 14 of you here, and after tonight, there will be 13.
21:33For this challenge, you worked in teams of two.
21:36We asked you to create a look for a former Project Runway designer to wear to the Emmys.
21:42And Lexus provided you with a color inspiration for your design.
21:46The winner of this challenge will not only receive immunity for the next challenge,
21:50the winner will also attend the Emmys with their client.
21:53Wow.
21:54Okay, let's meet the judges.
21:56First, we have CFDA Lifetime Achievement Award winner, Michael Kors.
22:00Hey, guys.
22:01Hi.
22:02Fashion director for Marie-Claire magazine, Nina Garcia.
22:05Hi.
22:06And our guest judge, the star of ABC's Don't Trust the Bee in apartment 23, Kristen Ritter.
22:12Hi.
22:13We will score your designs as they come down the runway.
22:17One of you will be named the winner, and one of you will be out.
22:21Then, you won the last challenge, which gives you immunity, and you cannot be eliminated this week.
22:26Thanks.
22:27Let's start the show.
22:28I'm super happy.
22:29I think it turned out really well.
22:31After all the drama, I think we pulled together and made a really beautiful dress.
22:45I had a partner that is not at the same skill level as me.
22:52But surprisingly, me and Buffy just got our stuff together and we cranked everything out.
22:58I feel like it came together to a point.
23:05But, you know, the slit is so high.
23:10And I know I'm getting for this entire dress.
23:31I am extremely happy because Kenley is walking down the runway and she is embracing the look.
23:40And we're just happy that we really made our client happy.
23:46I feel extremely proud of our collaboration.
23:51I'm sure it will please the churches as well.
24:02It gives me chills.
24:03It looks so beautiful.
24:07It just flows down the runway.
24:09It's so, so perfect.
24:13It looks really chic and it works so well with April's aesthetics.
24:19It really stands out.
24:21We're going to win this one.
24:30When I see my garment on the runway, it's a mess.
24:38I mean, she doesn't even look happy.
24:39She's just here.
24:42I know this dress is not going to be good with the judges.
24:48I'm nervous.
24:49I'm just thinking, please, let me be safe.
25:01It's actually not awful.
25:03It's flowing.
25:04It's moving.
25:05She looks beautiful.
25:06I might be safe and that would be great.
25:08I'm not confident at all.
25:14Just looking at the dress, just driving me crazy.
25:16I want to eliminate myself.
25:17That's how I feel right now.
25:19She's gliding, she's shining and I think we really pulled it off and I feel really good about where we're at.
25:34I think the gown looks beautiful on her.
25:39It's very smooth and it's very Emmy appropriate.
25:44And she's rocking it out.
25:49If I call your name, please step forward.
26:02Nathan and Sanji.
26:04Elena and Buffy.
26:06Dimitri and Melissa.
26:09If I've called your name, congratulations.
26:12Your scores have qualified you to move on to the next challenge.
26:15You can leave the runway.
26:18The rest of you had the highest and the lowest scores.
26:21One of you will be named the winner and one of you will be out.
26:38Fabio and Ben.
26:43Gunner and Kuan.
26:46You've had the highest scores.
26:50Andrea and Christopher.
26:52Raul and Alicia.
26:53You have the lower scores.
26:55We're going to talk to the team with the higher scores first.
26:59And then I'm going to bring you back out.
27:00So you guys can leave the runway.
27:03I want this so bad.
27:07And to be in the bottom, it's killing me right now.
27:10There's part of me that feels like if I get knocked out,
27:12it's sort of like a relief at this point.
27:18Then, Fabio, tell us about your look.
27:21Sure.
27:22And welcome back, Kenley.
27:24Onto the runway.
27:25For the Lexus challenge, we really wanted to think about clean lines,
27:29modern, bold, sophisticated, luxury.
27:32So in the workroom, I created the skirt.
27:35Fabio created the bodice.
27:36And this is a silk azar facing and a silk taffeta lining.
27:40So we lined it in silk taffeta.
27:42I think you guys did a fabulous job.
27:44Thank you very much.
27:45It does look very expensive.
27:46It does not look slapped together.
27:47And you could go to the Emmys.
27:49How do you like your look?
27:50I love it.
27:51They listened to everything I said.
27:53And they made something perfect.
27:56I really like this.
27:57I love the color.
27:59It looks very expensive.
28:01What I love most about this dress is that you chose to do it short.
28:06Mm.
28:07It's not the dress that everyone's gonna, like, rave about on the red carpet.
28:11But I think the best thing about it is the fact that you managed to hold on to your aesthetic.
28:18Now, I don't know your aesthetic as much.
28:20Right.
28:21You will see it.
28:22But I see your polish.
28:23I see your modernism.
28:24And then I see her style.
28:26Mm-hmm.
28:27And you guys really stepped it up.
28:31Thank you very much.
28:32If this dress would be the winning look, who would be the winner of you guys?
28:37This is a great dress.
28:38And the technique is Venn.
28:40But I gave myself a challenge.
28:42I'm picking myself not because I think that I'm better than Venn.
28:44It's because I want to give myself a pat on the back just that I pull it off.
28:48What do you think, Venn?
28:50I think I should definitely win this challenge.
28:53He did work on the foundation for the bodice.
28:56But it's really about this technique and the draping, what makes it.
28:59And it really started from my technical background as well as my creative ability to drape.
29:05Okay.
29:08Welcome back, Irina.
29:10It's nice to be back.
29:11You look beautiful.
29:13So our little jaunt was in the white Lexus.
29:16And it just kind of screams old school class.
29:20A lot of white dresses, I think, are seen on the best dress list.
29:23It's something that you really remember.
29:25So we were lucky to get off with the white.
29:27I was very scared for this project because we decided to do something elegant.
29:32And that's not my comfort zone at all.
29:35So I have to listen to Garner really well.
29:39Yeah.
29:40And then we did it.
29:42Irina, what do you think of the dress?
29:44It's got like a nice mix of elegant and sophisticated.
29:48You know, but I think the sewing skills could definitely be improved on.
29:52Personally, I think it's a beautiful dress.
29:55I think you look stunning in it.
29:58If I look at both of them, to me, this is more of an eye-catcher.
30:01Mm-hmm.
30:02It's a little bit more exciting.
30:03If I had to choose to wear one over the other, I would rather want to wear the white one.
30:07I like the design of this dress.
30:09I think it's beautiful.
30:11I think many women could wear it and feel very sexy.
30:14I like that you pick this collar, which I'm not sure whether it's an accessory piece or it's part of the dress.
30:20It was a necklace.
30:21Thank you, Lord and Taylor.
30:22I really like the high neck.
30:24And I always like personally showing shoulder.
30:27I think the silhouette is spot on for her.
30:30Mm-hmm.
30:31The cut of it shows off her shoulders.
30:33It has enough drama in the back.
30:35But I think you understood your client.
30:37Mm-hmm.
30:38That you really did, because I think you look gorgeous.
30:41I mean, you look beautiful.
30:42So if this were the winning dress, which one of you two should win?
30:47Gunnar should?
30:50Why is that?
30:51Um, I couldn't make this without him at all.
30:54I couldn't even think about it, so.
30:56Yeah.
30:57Okay, we've heard what you had to say.
31:00Now we're going to talk to the designers with the lower scores.
31:03You can eat the runway.
31:08Bye.
31:12Raul and Alicia, tell us about your look.
31:16And welcome back, Mila.
31:18Our background is in menswear.
31:19Yeah.
31:20Um, so we wanted to bring structure to the dress.
31:24I think the execution of the dress is not our best.
31:27Yeah.
31:28Um, but I love everything about it.
31:30Mila, what do you think about the dress?
31:32Well, there's some major fit issues for me, and I don't feel like it's flattering on me.
31:37I wish that they had chosen a more tailored fabric,
31:40because their background is in tailoring.
31:43Yeah, why did you guys not do a suit, for example?
31:45You know, the focus was on gowns, and that, you know, because we are...
31:49Well, everyone is talking about it.
31:50Not necessarily.
31:51Everyone in the room is, like, making beautiful dresses.
31:52Not necessarily, no.
31:53And we're like, all right, um, I guess if we want to stay in this competition,
31:57we have to do...
31:58Challenge ourselves and do a gown.
32:01Yes.
32:02It is boring.
32:03It is really boring.
32:04And it has not one piece of sex appeal.
32:07And then whose idea was it to put this gigantic piece of fake extension into our hair?
32:13It was mine.
32:14There's a horse somewhere missing its tail.
32:16I don't understand this.
32:17It's so not Mila on top of it.
32:19Mila usually looks very modern and cool, and this has made her look very frumpy.
32:26This is like you guys had made zero effort.
32:31I guess we should have just went the route that we're comfortable with.
32:34So if this is the losing look, which one of the two of you should be going home?
32:39We agreed that since the beginning that this is 50-50.
32:42Yeah, it would be a toss-up.
32:43So we are not, I mean, we're not doing that.
32:45And who designed it?
32:46It was the two of us.
32:47We both did.
32:48But who drew it?
32:49I mean, someone designed it.
32:51How to start somewhere.
32:52He started with the sketching.
32:54Okay.
32:55Christopher, Andrea, Anya, welcome back.
33:00Tell us about your red carpet dress.
33:02She wanted to have a more minimal look, a little more sophisticated.
33:08And so that's where we started from.
33:10Christopher, I can see the sadness in your face today.
33:14What do you have to say?
33:16It speaks for itself.
33:18What do you think?
33:20It's awful.
33:21And why?
33:22What happened?
33:23I'm mortified.
33:24To have 10 hours to make a gown is very ambitious.
33:30And it took that entire time to cut the pattern.
33:35I've worked with Siobhan a lot.
33:37And we weren't thinking.
33:39It was just executed very poorly.
33:42Will you show the dress from the back?
33:44The execution, yes.
33:45From here, I can see the hooks.
33:48And then the hem in the front is also a bit on a slopey slope here.
33:52What do you think about the dress, Anya?
33:54When Chris told me he likes studs and he likes that sort of edge, hard and soft, I thought, well, this would be the perfect opportunity to try something new.
34:02I think they were too ambitious.
34:03I think it does come down to that.
34:05I really think it looks very dated and a little cliche.
34:10You know, you already have a problem.
34:12And then by adding the gold studs, it just makes it even worse.
34:16I think that this looks like a Halloween costume you can get at a drugstore.
34:19Sorry, guys.
34:21The slit on that skirt silhouette to me is very pageant, kind of very old fashioned.
34:28I understand why you wanted to do the studs.
34:32Gold was smart.
34:33You need to hit some gold or else she literally is just like a walking Hershey bar.
34:38It was a really hard thing to tailor Siobhan.
34:41And it took her 12 hours to cut the skirt.
34:4512 hours to just cut the skirt?
34:48To cut the skirt, 12 hours.
34:50It is.
34:51I made a huge mistake.
34:52I was fuming.
34:53I know to use paper.
34:54She marrowed the chiffon.
34:55And I had to marrow it and it was just all over the place.
34:59Moving everywhere.
35:00So I had to do it one piece at a time.
35:02It was a nightmare.
35:03So if this is the losing look, which one of the two of you should go home?
35:08She had said that she doesn't care if she is voted off.
35:17You don't care if you will?
35:18No, that's not what I said.
35:19That's not what I said.
35:20That's not what I said.
35:21It was five minutes ago.
35:22This is your time to speak.
35:23Speak up.
35:24Okay.
35:25I said that I've had a wonderful opportunity here.
35:28And that even if I only got this far, it's been wonderful.
35:32And that I did my best with the mistakes that we both made.
35:36I mean, he really did screw up the bodice.
35:39He didn't know how to do the cowl neckline, which I've done a hundred times.
35:43Are you kidding me?
35:44I was so excited to start working with you to see what we can come up with.
35:49And the cut work and the marrowing.
35:52I can't even wrap my head around what you were doing for 12 hours.
35:57It wasn't 12 hours.
35:58And I find it very demeaning.
36:03Okay.
36:04Okay, we've heard what you had to say.
36:07You can leave the runway.
36:09Okay, let's talk about the designers that we did like.
36:18I think that when we look at, you know, Gunnar and Cohen, it could have been a really fabulous gown.
36:25But I think they picked the wrong fabric.
36:27But do I think it's a great silhouette?
36:29Do I think the back of it was really pretty?
36:31I like the chiffon.
36:32She looked gorgeous.
36:33Yeah.
36:34The silver at the neck was fabulous.
36:36But I think there were some fabric issues.
36:38Yeah.
36:39Actually, that dress was very dramatic.
36:42See, I always love a dramatic dress.
36:45Whatever Venn does, you can see immediately.
36:48He has such a stamp on his design, like you can tell.
36:51She looks put together.
36:53It's an interesting...
36:54It looks expensive.
36:55It looks expensive.
36:56If you went to the Emmys and you saw it at the Emmys...
36:59We would be proud of it.
37:00We would be very proud.
37:01Yes.
37:02Let's talk about the designers that we didn't like.
37:05Christopher was so upset.
37:07And now we know why.
37:09This was far from sophisticated.
37:11I thought it was just cheesy and obvious.
37:13Oh, see, that was the first thing I wrote.
37:15Cheesy.
37:16It was cheesy.
37:18Well, now we're gonna go from cheesy to like...
37:22Cheesy to frumpy.
37:23Frumpy and snoozy.
37:24To no sex appeal.
37:25The skirt was a piece of fabric.
37:26It's not even amazing.
37:27It's crooked.
37:28It literally just gathered at the waist, crooked hem with that ugly red belt in the wrong place.
37:35I really question his taste.
37:37It was kind of a disaster.
37:39She could have stopped it.
37:40She could have made better.
37:41She could have said that ponytail looks silly.
37:44Those earrings are too much.
37:46Yeah.
37:47Yeah.
37:48Why didn't she stop it?
37:49I agree.
37:50So we've made our decision.
37:51Okay, let's bring them back out.
37:57The six of you have the highest and the lowest scores.
38:05One of you will be named the winner.
38:08And get to go to the Emmys.
38:10And one of you will be out.
38:15Ben.
38:20You are the winner of this challenge.
38:21Oh my God.
38:22Congratulations.
38:23Thank you so much.
38:24I mean, to me this feels like a dream come true.
38:27I'm very excited.
38:28You're in.
38:29You can leave the runway.
38:30Alright, thank you.
38:31It was a pleasure to meet you.
38:32I just won my second challenge in a row.
38:34I'm extremely excited.
38:35Very happy.
38:36You won?
38:37Congratulations.
38:38Thanks.
38:39Congratulations.
38:40Ben, we're going to the Emmys!
38:41Oh my God!
38:43Yes!
38:44Fabio, you're in.
38:47You can leave the runway.
38:48Thank you so much.
38:49Cool on.
38:50Hi.
38:51You're in.
38:52You can leave the runway.
38:53Thank you so much.
38:54Cool on.
38:55Hi.
38:56You're in.
38:57You can leave the runway.
38:58Thank you so much.
38:59Cool on.

40:11Um you guys will hear more about Raul at one point
40:14Auf Wiedersehen. Bye
40:17Bye guys, this was 50 50 and if someone had to go home
40:22Maybe it had to be both of us because we made the same mistakes
40:25You know this was a really difficult challenge and I have to send you to the work room
40:37All right, so good. All right. Bye. Bye right. Bye Brittany
40:47I'm glad that this experience happened
40:49There was so many designers that were trying to be in my shoes
40:54I will continue to design. You know, I love what I do
40:59Stupid red carpet. I hate it
41:01But I was Andrea I wake up this morning and Andrea's gone
41:09I heard her get up in the middle of the night
41:11What that was completely nuts?
41:13I'm really shocked and really worried and I mean presumably nobody else knows about this year either probably not yeah
