00:03Welcome to Lord & Taylor's flagship store.

00:08is going to be manufactured by Lord & Taylor.
00:11This is probably the biggest challenge to hit us yet.
00:14This is not the way I do stuff.
00:18It's a very stressful time right now.
00:20I'm feeling so disappointed in myself.
00:23Why did this just get so much cuter?
00:25I'm feeling like I've got it.
00:30Gunnar, you had one of the lower scores.
00:33Really?
00:34I've seen this dress, Gunnar.
00:35So I don't need to see it again.
00:37I mean, it looks like the field hockey uniform.
00:39Sadly, I think it looks dowdy.
00:42Christopher, you are the winner of this challenge!
00:44No!
00:45Oh, my God.
00:46Alicia, you're in.
00:48Gunnar, you're also in.

01:48Hi, everybody.
01:49Hi.
01:50For this next challenge, not only will you need your creativity,
02:06you also have to use your negotiation skills.
02:09Oh.
02:10Who is a very good negotiator around you guys?
02:13All of you?
02:15Yeah.
02:16Well, let's see about that.
02:19Tim is waiting for you in the workroom with all of the details
02:22for this very exciting challenge.
02:24Good luck and I'll see you with Becky on the runway.
02:27Bye, everybody.
02:28Bye.
02:29And cruciation.
02:36What?
02:37No.
02:38Arts and crafts time.
02:39When we walk into the workroom and see this table full
02:42of arts and crafts, I'm immediately excited.
02:44Good morning, designers.
02:46How is everyone?
02:47Good.
02:48Good.
02:49This is a very big and very exciting day.
02:53Wow.
02:54For this challenge, you will not have a budget to shop at Mood.
02:59Instead, you're going to be doing your own fundraising.
03:02Oh.
03:03Oh, my God.
03:04Yes.
03:05You're going to be creating merchandise to sell to people
03:08on the street.
03:09So we have all of these materials for you.
03:12Plus, there are t-shirts around the room.
03:15They're at three stations.
03:16And you're going to be creating fun, wonderful things
03:19that are irresistible to people so you can raise a lot of money
03:22to go shopping for fabrics and notions at Mood.
03:25And you don't just have to offer merchandise.
03:27I mean, you can use all of your talents.
03:29You can offer people fashion advice for sale, of course.
03:32You can do alterations.
03:34Whatever you want to do to raise money.
03:36What do you think?
03:37Crazy.
03:38It's going to be exciting and fun.
03:42And you're going to be working in teams of three.
03:45Oh, teams.
03:46What?
03:47There are no team leaders, so you'll be working collaboratively.
03:51And I'm going to choose our teams from our button bag.
03:55So first up, we have...
03:57Oh, well, this is interesting because you just won the last challenge, Christopher.
04:01So you were first.
04:02Okay.
04:03And I have to add, you're our last designer to have immunity.
04:06All right, next we have...
04:08Sanjay.
04:09Baby girl.
04:12Next we have...
04:16Gunnar.
04:18Come on.
04:19Come on.
04:20I don't know how we're going to do this.
04:22I'm ready.
04:24Then we have...
04:26Dimitri.
04:27Yeah.
04:28Next we have...
04:31Elena.
04:32Oh.
04:34What did I do in my past life to deserve this?
04:38My love.
04:41And...
04:42Alicia.
04:43Nice.
04:44Really?
04:45Great.
04:46Dimitri and Elena hate each other.
04:47Who knows what's going to happen?
04:49So...
04:50We have Ben, Melissa, and Fabio as the last team.
04:54All right?
04:55Okay, okay.
04:56All right.
04:57So, teams, you have three hours to work.
05:00All right?
05:01And your three hours starts now.
05:04All right, have fun, everyone.
05:06I'm getting out of the way.
05:07We can, like, just dye those and make tank tops.
05:12And you just do a big version of a face on a t-shirt.
05:15Like, just, like, the sketched eyes and the sketched lips.
05:18So simple.
05:19That would be cool.
05:20So cool.
05:21So he's going to do the ombre.
05:22Then I can work with you on accessories.
05:23Mm-hmm.
05:24I am focusing on the t-shirts.
05:26Melissa is painting the tote bags.
05:28And then is working on the accessories.
05:31So awesome.
05:33Like, arts and crafts.
05:34I love it.
05:35Yes.
05:36Yes.
05:37Yeah.
05:42Our plan is just to paint a bunch of shirts in different, like, colors and different patterns and stuff like that.
05:48Oh, these are cool, dude.
05:50Yeah.
05:51And it came out pretty ugly.
05:54Like this?
06:01Who's going to want to buy that?
06:03Right.
06:04All right, teams.
06:05It's time to go make some money.
06:06Woo!
06:07You ready?
06:08Yes.
06:09All right.
06:10I'm going to send you out.
06:11Let's go, go, go.
06:19DJs for sale.
06:20Project Runway 10.
06:21Support fashion design.
06:22We wanted to see if you can help us out by buying a t-shirt.
06:25We need to be saved with fashion.
06:27Oh, us.
06:28We need money for fabric.
06:29We need fabric for the salad.
06:30That's your pitch?
06:31You need money?
06:32Yeah.
06:33Hi.
06:34How are you?
06:35Excuse me, you guys.
06:36All right.
06:37Girls, do you want to have same fashion?
06:39Buy or donate.
06:40Buy or donate.
06:41Anything for the challenge would be fantastic.
06:42I'll give you a donation.
06:43Oh, thank you.
06:44Oh, thank you.
06:45That's a lot.
06:46That's much appreciated.
06:47I'll give you 24.
06:48Oh, you're so sweet.
06:49Thank you so much.
06:50Thank you so much.
06:51So how did you do?
06:52Not bad.
06:53All right.
06:54Well, I'm going to see you in the work room tomorrow morning.
06:55Okay?
06:56And you'll learn more about the challenge.
06:57All right.
06:59Good morning, everyone.
07:00So I want to hear how much the final count of the money was.
07:01We have $800.48.
07:02How'd you get $800?
07:03How'd you get $0.48?
07:04How'd you get $0.48?
07:05Someone didn't have dollar bills.
07:06He just reached in his pocket and gave his pair change.
07:07$684.
07:08$684.
07:09That's great.
07:10We had $500.
07:11We had $500.
07:12$500.
07:13$500.
07:14Exactly?
07:15Mm-hmm.
07:16All right.
07:17For this challenge, you're remaining in your teams.
07:18And the money that you raised yesterday is the budget for this challenge.
07:21Each team is creating two looks for fall.
07:22And the money that you raised yesterday is the budget for this challenge.
07:23Each team is creating two looks for fall.
07:24And the money that you raised yesterday is the budget for this challenge.
07:25So I want to hear how much the final count of the money was.
07:26We have $800.48.
07:27How'd you get $0.48?
07:28How'd you get $0.48?
07:29Someone didn't have dollar bills.
07:30He just reached in his pocket and gave his pair change.
07:31$684.
07:32That's great.
07:33We had $500.
07:34$500.
07:35$500.
07:36Exactly?
07:37Mm-hmm.
07:38All right.
07:39For this challenge, you're remaining in your teams.
07:42And the money that you raised yesterday is the budget for this challenge.
07:47Each team is creating two looks for fall.
07:51One of these two looks must include outerwear.
07:56One member of the winning team will be the winner of this challenge.
07:59And one member of the losing team will be out.
08:02You will have 30 minutes to sketch.
08:04And then we're going shopping at Mood.
08:06Where I want you to spend every single dime that you raised yesterday.
08:10Cash me, darling.
08:11Mm-hmm.
08:12Your 30 minutes to sketch begins now.
08:13Okay.
08:14All right, I'll be back to get you and we'll go to Mood.
08:16Thanks, Tim.
08:17Can I do a trench coat, please?
08:18A trench coat?
08:19Yes.
08:20A little bit more structured.
08:21Structured.
08:22Structured.
08:23And use boning to create, like, a collar.
08:24So you're using leather.
08:25I love her idea, because I think our designs, our aesthetics are so different.
08:30It would mesh well together.
08:31Yes.
08:32You're doing a dark hunter green.
08:33Yeah, the hunter green are like an army, like that.
08:34Should I incorporate leather into this?
08:35I can make a leather waistband.
08:36Yeah.
08:37What do you want to do, Dimitri?
08:38A dress.
08:39I'm going to do a coat that's going to be long.
08:40And it's not going to be fitted here.
08:41It's going to be fitted up here.
08:42Design teams, it's time to go to Mood.
08:43All right, design teams, you have your fundraising earnings from yesterday, which is your budget
08:56for this challenge, and you have 30 minutes to shop.
08:57All right, and your time begins now.
08:58Have fun.
08:59Be successful.
09:00Melissa, did you grab thread?
09:01Yes.
09:02Designers, time is up.
09:15Everyone needs to be at the register now.
09:29All right, designers, let's head back to Parsons.
09:34I'm going to get you back to that workroom.
09:36Goodbye, Swatch.
09:37Thank you, Mood.
09:38Thank you, Mood.
09:41Coming up on Project Runway.
09:43Tinkerbell, Peter Pan.
09:44I don't know.
09:45He has immunity.
09:46Get your ass in gear or I'm going to get it in gear.
09:49I don't know if they're tailored enough.
09:51I don't care if you don't like it.
09:52F***, bitch.
09:59How is everybody?
10:08Good, Tim.
10:09How are you?
10:10You're doing well?
10:12Yes.
10:13Boy, there is a tone of enthusiasm.
10:17So how are you all doing?
10:19We're doing good.
10:23That's it?
10:25Speak to me, please.
10:26I think it's looking pretty good.
10:28It's looking graphic, clean, kind of modern, but still elegant.
10:32Alicia, how are you fitting the pant?
10:35Is it going to be tight?
10:37It's still going to be tight, but it's fitted.
10:39Keep your eye on the fit of the pant around that whole crotch area.
10:44Okay.
10:44It just concerns me that static, it's rumply.
10:49Yeah.
10:52Hi.
10:52Hi.
10:52So how are you?
10:53So how are Fabio, Melissa, and Ben?
10:55You're good.
10:55In alphabetical order.
10:57The one thing we really wanted to think about for fall is that we didn't want it to feel
11:03heavy or constricted.
11:04We wanted it to be very easy and feel very light.
11:07I'm currently working on a skirt and a color-blocked top.
11:11It's going to look like this full-sleeved, fitted.
11:15Fabio's coat will go over it.
11:17Can I ask a really blunt question?
11:18Yeah.
11:19Is the woman who's wearing this skirt and top, it's the same woman who's going to wear this
11:23coat?
11:23Yeah.
11:24Why not?
11:27I like the skirt and the top idea, but then I'm having difficulty seeing them converge.
11:36I'm just thinking that the skirt is too sophisticated to go with a leather jacket.
11:40That's the only thing.
11:41Yeah.
11:41Okay.
11:43Thanks so much.
11:43Thank you very much.
11:44I appreciate it.
11:46So, how are you all?
11:48Good.
11:49How are you?
11:50Good.
11:50I'm eager to hear what you're doing.
11:52So, we're kind of working with this kind of a harder feel, which is kind of like an army.
11:57We found the fabrics, and we fell in love with them.
11:59So, they spoke to you?
12:00Yeah.
12:00They spoke to us.
12:01It's hunter green.
12:02It all started with, yes, the green is where it started.
12:05That's green is beautiful.
12:05I took care of the underdresses to the two other outerwear looks.
12:09Okay.
12:09So, this dress will go underneath of Sanji's look.
12:12And Sanji, what are you creating?
12:14You know, since Christopher decided to do more of a long trench, I wanted to do a shorter jacket.
12:18So, it'll drape, and it does the same thing on the other side.
12:21And then it'll have leather sleeves.
12:23Leather sleeves?
12:24Yes.
12:24Brown leather sleeves.
12:25Yeah.
12:25With all of the detail in the jacket, do you need something different happening with the sleeve?
12:31Does it look like you're trying too hard?
12:35All right, everyone.
12:36This was very uplifting.
12:39So, have a good night, and I will see you in the morning.
12:41All right.
12:41Thank you, Tim.
12:42Thank you, everyone.
12:44We can either do the pant in this now, since it's going with that.
12:48And the skirt in the other one.
12:59She loves me.
13:02Ah, f***.
13:03Let me just get to do it.
13:04I mean, it's just difficult, because you know they're having similar ideas tonight, you know what I mean?
13:12Like, do you know what I'm saying?
13:13Like, it needs to be, like, more tailored.
13:16They're going to say something about that, because it's, like...
13:21No, but tailored, it doesn't mean tight.
13:23I don't like it.
13:25I'm like, I don't care.
13:26I'm doing the pant, which is mostly covered up by your jacket.
13:29If I want six inches worth of what the hell I want out of this look, I'm going to keep it that way.
13:33I don't care if you don't like it.
13:35F***, bitch.
13:37I try to give them my input, and they're not having it, because they're so scared that I'm going to overtake everything again.
13:44Well, I'll just let it be and see what happens.
13:46Good morning, designers.
14:02How is everyone?
14:02Good morning.
14:03It's a big day.
14:05So you have two hours to send your models to the L'Oreal Paris hair and makeup room, and to prep them for the runway.
14:11And you know the drill and routine.
14:13Use the Lord & Taylor accessory wall very thoughtfully.
14:15All right.
14:16I'll be back.
14:19How are you?
14:21How's it feel?
14:23Warm.
14:25Warm?
14:25Okay.
14:26I feel really confident about my jacket.
14:28It has a lot of the elements that really represent me as a designer.
14:31I really feel like this could be a wow moment.
14:34I like that color.
14:35I love it.
14:36We're thinking a little weed, teased in, very slick.
14:46It's just like a bigger, right?
14:47Yeah.
14:48Maybe a looser, a much twist of something coming down.
14:53To get that volume, what I'm going to do is use the EverStyle Reluctant Spray.
14:57Perfect.
14:58I wanted to do something very natural and maybe at the same time a little bit smoky on
15:06the eyes.
15:07I said they were in gray, so I don't want it to be too smoky.
15:10I don't want it to look matte.
15:11Okay.
15:12So it's kind of like the more...
15:13A beautiful daytime smoke.
15:15Yeah.
15:15I got it.
15:16Love it.
15:20This is the front, so I'll put it right here.
15:22Okay, perfect.
15:23Good job.
15:24Good job.
15:24Is she still in the dress or as you move down to that shawl?
15:29He's doing the ugly-ass scarf.
15:31Tell me how you really feel.
15:33He's doing the ugly-ass scarf.
15:35Dark side, right?
15:36The dark side is, yeah.
15:37Make sure you need some light.
15:38We need to do the coat zips and then she unzips it at the end.
15:42Why?
15:43Because all the details they did in the front, they're not going to even be visible.
15:48I don't know, dude, because they need to see all of it.
15:51It's all under the coat.
15:52I already am worried about my position and then she wants to completely cover up the work
15:56I've done and, you know, walk this look down the runway and it looks like I haven't
16:00done anything.
16:01I just tried it on her.
16:03Alicia's pants are worrying me a lot because they don't really look good with my coat.
16:07I mean, they're going to see it.
16:09She's going to unzip it and walk back with the full thing underneath showing.
16:13I'd just rather have it unzipped the whole way.
16:15She's not taking any of my advice into consideration.
16:18It's her ass on the line, not mine.
16:22Are you ready to go down to the runway?
16:26Because it's time, everyone.
16:28All right.
16:30Here we go.
16:31Hold on, hold on.
16:32Can I?
16:32Hold on.
16:33Christopher Sanji.
16:36All right.
16:39That's it.
16:42Coming up on Project Runway.
16:43It was just not good.
16:46It looks like it's an experiment.
16:48Yeah, they look horrible.
16:49Something should have been in that crotch that a girl doesn't have.
16:53Oh, my God.
16:54Hello.
17:04Hi.
17:05Welcome to the runway.
17:06As you know, in fashion, one day you're in, and the next day, you're out.
17:11There are nine of you here, and after tonight, there will be eight.
17:14For this challenge, we gave you no money for fabric.
17:17Instead, you hit the streets of New York City in teams of three, and used your talents and
17:23your negotiating skills to raise your own money.
17:27We asked you to create two cohesive ball looks, and at least one of these looks had to include
17:33outerwear.
17:34You had one day, and the money that you raised to put your looks together.
17:38Christopher, you won the last challenge, which means that you have immunity for this challenge,
17:42and you cannot be eliminated.
17:44But you know what?
17:45There's no immunity going forward.
17:49Okay, let's meet the judges.
17:51First, we have CFDA Lifetime Achievement Award winner, Michael Kors.
17:54Hey, guys.
17:55Hi.
17:56Fashion director for Marie Claire Magazine, Nina Garcia.
17:59Hi, guys.
18:01And our guest judge for today, fashion designer, Anna Sui.
18:05Hello.
18:06Welcome.
18:07We will score your designs as they come down the runway.
18:10One of you will be named the winner.
18:12And one of you will be out.
18:15Okay, let's start the show.
18:25I love the show, the way it moves.
18:28And I think overall, it gives some movement to our collection.
18:32It's very simple, very clean, very modern.
18:51I'm horrified.
18:52The collar is falling in.
18:54The finishing in the front is horrible.
18:57It's just like, to date, one of the worst things they sent out on the runway.
19:02I'm a little nervous about what the judges are going to think, because they can't see my work that well.
19:06So I'm concerned that the judges are not even going to see me at all.
19:11She looks amazing.
19:25My jacket's impeccably tailored.
19:28And I really feel like this is a very strong piece.
19:33And I'm really excited for what I made.
19:34I can't see the whole dress, but I know it's there, and it looks nice.
19:46I love this coat on her.
19:55It looks really cool and dramatic.
19:59This dress is different for me.
20:01I'm showing them something that they haven't seen from me before.
20:07I feel like I have a really good chance at winning this one.
20:09That's so cool.
20:10I like the way that it looks, and I like the skirt, how it moves.
20:30But it looks very inexpensive, and I know that is a problem.
20:36I'm kind of iffy on the hemline of the shirt.
20:38It's kind of falling down one way.
20:40Where I wish it was just kind of laying flat.
20:49But I feel like the jacket looks awesome.
20:58I really love the coat, and I really love the tops, too.
21:03I think that overall, the collection looks very cohesive.
21:05And I think we did a really good job.
21:10It looks very Soho chic, and I hope that they like that we took a more youthful approach compared to the other two teams.
21:17Sanji, Christopher, Gunner.
21:30Your team is the clear winning team today.
21:33Congratulations.
21:34No way.
21:34Really?
21:35Yes way.
21:36Yay.
21:36And one member of your team will be the winner.
21:40Okay.
21:40Cool.
21:41Alicia, Dimitri, Elena, Melissa, Fabio, Ven.
21:48Your teams were less successful, and one of you will be out.
21:52Cool.
21:52We're going to start with our winners first.
22:00Let's bring out your models.
22:07All right.
22:07Tell us about your looks and who did what.
22:09Well, we wanted to make two pieces that we felt like represented, like, the modern New York woman.
22:15She wants to look good whether she's outside or inside.
22:19The hunter green jacket is what I created.
22:22Underneath is the dress that Gunner created.
22:26And he also did the neck piece for it as well.
22:29And then next to her is Claudia, who's wearing the sleeveless trench that Chris made.
22:35And Gunner also made the dress underneath his jacket as well.
22:39Yeah, let's have a look at the dress completely.
22:42First off, to get sportswear out there and keep it luxurious and elevated is really a trick.
22:49And you guys managed to do that in spades.
22:53And when I look at the jersey and leather dress, the play of textures is great.
22:57I think it's doing kind of cool things for her body.
23:00Can we see the camel coat, though, back on again?
23:02Sure.
23:02You know, a camel hair coat is very tricky to tailor.
23:08So I think you took a lot of time.
23:10There was a lot of thought.
23:12My favorite piece is Sanji's jacket.
23:14That is an exquisite looking jacket.
23:17I think that many women would love to have this little jacket.
23:20It's really pretty.
23:21And I haven't seen anything like that before.
23:23I love the tailoring of this jacket.
23:26It looks expensive.
23:28It looks well made.
23:29I love it from the front, and I love it from the back.
23:33It hits her perfectly.
23:34And it's very sharp.
23:36I like the camel coat very much.
23:38I love the collar.
23:40I think it's dramatic, but not too much.
23:42And I think it was very clever not to make the sleeves in the same color.
23:47Phenomenal job.
23:49So since you are the winning team, who do you think should be the winner?
23:53Looking at the full looks, Gunnar made two dresses, and they're pretty badass, so I would have to give him the title.
24:02Gunnar, who do you think should win?
24:04I think that I would be a contender, but I don't want that to sound pugnacious.
24:08Sanji, I think I did a great job with my jacket.
24:13So I'm going to pick myself.
24:15Totally.
24:16Okay.
24:16Models, you can leave the runway.
24:20Alicia, Dimitri, Elena, tell us about your looks and who did what.
24:25You're going to go first?
24:26Mm-mm.
24:26Well, I made this look.
24:30I made a dress and a shawl.
24:33So basically, we wanted to make something structural, modern, but feminine at the same time.
24:40And with the shawl, I was trying to kind of balance that hard and soft a little bit.
24:46I did the pants and the top.
24:48Elena did the coat.
24:50And I think since we had to incorporate an outerwear piece, that was kind of like our focal point and the starting point.
24:55But overall, we wanted to keep it clean and modern.
24:59Elena, you look a little bit funny, upset.
25:03I didn't feel like it was fair.
25:05The work split between us.
25:07I feel like Dimitri took over a little bit.
25:09I feel like he made a dress and a shawl, and he didn't let us split the work evenly.
25:15So me and Alicia had to share an outfit.
25:17And I'm just, you know, it's a little bit unfair.
25:20You're saying that I wasn't compromising.
25:24Yes.
25:24But what did you compromise?
25:25I took all your geometry and put it in my dress.
25:28I compromised by making only one piece when you guys did, like, almost an outfit.
25:32I was a team player, so don't go there with me, okay?
25:35I just want to add that, you know, I'm always open for ideas and for compromise.
25:41But I feel like working with Elena, it's just impossible.
25:44Oh, it's impossible with me.
25:45Exactly.
25:46Because whatever I say, it's always positive.
25:47First of all, the whole collection had to be built around your dress because you don't know how to do anything else.
25:52You started...
25:53All right.
25:54You only do a dress?
25:55Okay.
25:56That's all you do?
25:57Come on.
25:57You always make coffins, you know, that don't move.
25:59Okay, whatever.
26:00So...
26:00Whatever.
26:01We're even now.
26:02Okay.
26:02I can't believe it.
26:08All righty, then.
26:10Nina, what do you think?
26:12Well, this certainly did not work as a team challenge for you guys.
26:18I'm going to start with the dress.
26:20I think Dimitri knows how to deliver on that.
26:24However, we keep seeing dresses and dresses from you.
26:29I think the shawl, even though it is well-made, looked old lady and looked like it didn't belong with the dress.
26:37If we move to the other outfit, you do these coats all the time, Elena.
26:43Mm-hmm.
26:43Things that have volume.
26:45But this volume looks actually like it's a mistake.
26:49What happens when you close it?
26:50Can we see it close for a little bit?
26:51It definitely needs to be closed to look better.
26:57You complain that he only does dresses, but you only do oversized coats.
27:02I'm the only one on the team who could probably...
27:05Could have done it.
27:06I could have done it as well.
27:08You wanted to make a coat.
27:09Oh, God.
27:09You made it.
27:10And you said you didn't have enough to do, so you could have made nicer coat.
27:15To be honest with you, and particularly, the coat looks very inexpensive.
27:19It looks like it's a, I don't know, like, an experiment.
27:24I think if you're the queen of tailoring, I mean...
27:27I didn't label myself as the queen of tailoring ever.
27:31Well, you're like, well, I'm the person who's going to make the coat.
27:33A coat, yeah.
27:34Well, so you're saying you know how to tailor a coat.
27:36If you walked into a store and saw a coat that was kicking up and going in a hundred directions
27:42and doing all of that, certainly you wouldn't say, oh, well, that's from a coat expert.
27:48Oh, my God.
27:49This may be not one of my best works or whatever.
27:53I usually finish things really well.
27:56And if I had more time, I would have.
27:58And then what did you do?
28:00Did you just do the pant and the top?
28:02Yeah, I did the pants and the top.
28:06I'm falling asleep over these two pieces.
28:08There are two throwaway pieces.
28:10They're not interesting enough.
28:11Why didn't you guys help her?
28:13I was telling her, like, to make something more intricate for this top, but I don't know.
28:19I mean, I also ran into time issues with these things, too, so there's also that.
28:23The pants, yeah, they fit her nicely.
28:26So what?
28:27They could have had some detailing on them.
28:29And then the top, that cut that you've stitched in the middle of her body, doesn't even really
28:34change the shape of the top.
28:36Right.
28:36So it's intellectual with no purpose.
28:40Yeah.
28:40You ended up making things kind of because that's what was left.
28:44You know, she's the coat queen, he's the dress king.
28:47I don't think anyone was working together.
28:49It just, it shows.
28:51All the conflict that was going on, all the conversation that we've heard from all of you
28:56reflects in the clothes.
28:57That's the important lesson that you have to learn is that when you're expressing yourself,
29:02the joy and the love has to come through, not the anger, because that's not what people
29:07are going to buy.
29:08You've got to learn how to work together.
29:11So I'm a little nervous to ask this question, but if one person on your team had to go home,
29:16who would it be?
29:18Dimitri could have spread the work more evenly throughout the team, and so I'm going to say
29:24Dimitri.
29:25Dimitri, what do you think?
29:26All the negativity and screaming and cursing was absolutely unnecessary.
29:32It made just the communication impossible, and I think she's the one who should go home.
29:38Alicia?
29:39Overall, I respect Elena more as a designer, so I'd have to say Dimitri.
29:45Okay, models, you can leave the runway.
29:55All right, Melissa, Fabio, Ven, tell us about your looks and who did what.
30:00So our idea for this collection was we took fall too hard, so there's still a little bit
30:04of that lingering from summer, the lightness.
30:07So that's why the outerwear coat is made of mohair, which is a fabric that is going to
30:11keep you warm, but it doesn't have that weight on you.
30:13But at the same time, she's not all dressed for winter yet.
30:16I made the skirt and the pants Melissa drafted.
30:20Melissa made the leather jacket and the clutches, and Fabio made the knit tops and the mohair coat.
30:28I particularly like the white jacket.
30:31Was that yours, Melissa?
30:32It was very nicely done.
30:34It fits her beautifully.
30:35On the second look, the knit is maybe too tight.
30:40Can we take the jacket off?
30:42Too sheer, too tight.
30:45Yeah, that's not such a great look.
30:48Can I see them interchange the jackets for one minute?
30:51I don't know.
30:54It wasn't my favorite collection from you guys.
30:57I have to say your team was my least favorite team.
31:01I wouldn't want any of those pieces apart from the white jacket.
31:04I'm sorry.
31:05It looks to me really sad.
31:07It looks too washed out.
31:10I don't know how you can put such a thin fabric over these pants.
31:14How do the pants look on the top?
31:16I mean, it's like a J-like pant.
31:18Yeah, they look horrible.
31:19Well, something should have been in that crotch that a girl doesn't have.
31:23Yeah, I mean, that's a weird looking crotch.
31:25So I understand why you wanted to hide that.
31:27For me, this didn't work at all.
31:29I like the white jacket, and that's about it.
31:31The mohair coat's a full flop.
31:34Oh.
31:35I mean, to me, it's a grandma house coat.
31:38She should have Kleenex in her pocket.
31:40I mean, it's just...
31:42It just hangs.
31:43It's so sad.
31:44What I'm mystified is, where are you in all of this?
31:47None of this looks like anything that you would ever touch.
31:51Yeah, I actually started working on a piece, and it's finished.
31:55Lining is finished.
31:56And they didn't want to use it.
31:58You normally are, like, king of construction, and then all of a sudden today, you've kind
32:04of got the first project you'd get at design school would be to make that skirt.
32:10I look at it all, and, you know, thank God she's got that clutch bag covering her crotch,
32:15so no one's staring at it.
32:17So you've got some clutch bags and a white leather jacket.
32:21How much money did you guys raise?
32:22We made a lot.
32:23We made $800.
32:25Wow.
32:25That's a lot of money.
32:27Yeah.
32:28You were the group that had the most money.
32:31It really does look inexpensive.
32:34It looks worn to me.
32:36It looks like hand-me-down.
32:37It looks poor.
32:38Like, they look so droopy and rolled in.
32:40The knit is sloppy.
32:41The pant is sloppy.
32:42It just does not look luxe at all, and you had the money, and you had the fabrics.
32:49So if one of you guys had to go home, who would it be?
32:53Honestly, it would be so difficult to pick one person, because we really did put a lot
32:58of effort in thinking about that.
32:59Well, then the question is, whose garments are the weakest garments?
33:05Whose garments are the weakest garments?
33:07I don't think I could answer that question.
33:09Oh, okay.
33:10I think we're happy with...
33:12I have to answer the question.
33:13No, but what do you think is the weak link as far as a garment?
33:16I mean, he really didn't want to go there, but maybe it was just a jacket.
33:22Maybe he needed, like, an interlining, but he definitely...
33:25So you're saying Fabio?
33:25So you think the coat's the weak garment?
33:27Not the coat, but he did put a lot of work into it.
33:31Fabio, what do you think?
33:32I'm going to choose from affinities.
33:34I'm closest to Melissa.
33:36Um, I'm sorry.
33:37It's okay.
33:39Melissa, what about you?
33:42Gosh.
33:44You know, I would say the top.
33:46I'm sorry.
33:47So he'd go.
33:48Fabio.
33:49I'm sorry.
33:51Okay, we've heard what you had to say.
33:53We're going to have a little chat, and then I call you back out.
33:55You cleaved the runway.
34:04Okay, let's talk about the winner.
34:06Who should be the winner from the winning team?
34:09My favorite jacket was...
34:11Sanjay.
34:12Sanjay.
34:13Sanjay.
34:13Yeah, that was beautiful.
34:14Impeccably crafted, but also I think there was some real design in it.
34:18Yeah.
34:19I mean, that jacket looked like a $2,000 jacket.
34:22Beautiful.
34:23Sharp, well fit.
34:25They were the only ones that actually spent their money right.
34:28They bought expensive fabric, and it looked expensive.
34:31Yeah.
34:31But also, Nina, they knew how to use the fabrics.
34:34Mm-hmm.
34:34That's the thing.
34:35Yeah.
34:36I mean, Christopher also did a nice coat.
34:38It happens to be one of the most difficult fabrics to work with.
34:42And I think that he managed to make a camel hair coat that had edge, that looked modern.
34:48Beautiful.
34:49And different.
34:50For as beautiful as Sanjay's jacket is, editorially, this is far more interesting.
34:57Yes.
34:57Right.
34:58It was photographed very nicely.
35:00Yes.
35:01That was really stellar.
35:03Yeah, beautiful.
35:03It was also very nice that they gave Gunnar two pieces, because he was on the chopping
35:07board last week.
35:10And so he really wanted to step it up and do two outfits, and he did two beautiful dresses.
35:15The dresses were great.
35:16I think he did a really good job.
35:18Yeah, it all worked together.
35:19And you could see that they worked together, and they made a cohesive look, but they used
35:23everybody's strengths.
35:26So now let's talk about who should go home.
35:29Definitely, Alicia, Dimitri, and Elena had a huge problem.
35:34They all didn't get along.
35:35It all has to come cohesively together.
35:38And in this instance, they were all operating on a separate kind of agenda.
35:42And it sounded like Dimitri was desperate to show that he could do a head-to-toe look,
35:48when in fact, the shawl had nothing to do with that dress.
35:50And he probably thought it would dominate.
35:52Yeah.
35:52Fill the space.
35:53Yeah.
35:53I mean, Elena, the queen of coats, well, excuse me, that coat looked like it was, you
35:59know, sewn with her feet.
36:01It was just not good.
36:02She thinks she's some great designer that is so avant-garde.
36:05That's why I was asking you guys.
36:07I said, to me, it looks big.
36:08It looks like she's swimming in it.
36:10Look tortured.
36:12Just like her whole attitude towards what she was doing.
36:15It came through on the clothes.
36:17No, she's angry.
36:18She's angry.
36:18And it was an angry coat.
36:20Very angry.
36:20Yeah.
36:21But at least it's ambitious.
36:23Then you have...
36:24Alicia, who didn't have any design.
36:25Alicia, I don't...
36:26She had nothing.
36:27Passive.
36:28No spirit.
36:29Yeah.
36:29There was nothing.
36:30At least Dimitri and Elena were fighting for attention.
36:34Alicia was fighting for nothing.
36:36Yeah.
36:36All right, let's talk about Melissa, Fabio, and Ben.
36:40It seems to me like they had an easy time working together.
36:44But I think everyone was being so nice that there was a complacency going on, that no one
36:49was challenging.
36:50The worst thing that happens is a room full of everyone, like, saying, aren't we fabulous?
36:55We're so fabulous.
36:58Everyone was so kind of happy together that they never stood back and said, wait a second.
37:03Really, when we look at these garments, what do we have?
37:07They don't have much.
37:08A frumpy skirt, an ill-fitting pant, two ill-fitting tops, and a frumpy coat.
37:14Normally, this guy, Ben, I mean, he does, like, really intricate, worked clothes.
37:20No, but the pieces that he made for these two looks, they're not cool.
37:23I mean, that frumpy skirt down to here is not cool.
37:26It's a dirndl that you could wear to, like, a beer hall.
37:29Yeah.
37:30Fabio, you know, he loves to talk.
37:32He's so articulate.
37:33But realistically, look at the three garments that he made.
37:36These two T-shirts, which are a whole lot of nothing.
37:39Nothing.
37:39And then this sad mohair house coat.
37:43Really, what did he do?
37:45They had the most money.
37:47They could have made this look expensive and perfect.
37:52And they managed to make this a flop.
37:55Yeah.
37:57Okay, so we've made our decision.
38:01Okay, let's bring them back out.
38:03Designers, one of you will be the winner of this challenge.
38:19And one of you will be out.
38:21Christopher, Gunnar, Sanji, we really like your garments.
38:31They were modern, polished, and they looked expensive.
38:35You spend your money wisely.
38:39Sanji, you are the winner of this challenge.
38:43Thank you so much, guys, you're the best.
38:47We loved your jacket.
38:49Congratulations.
38:50Christopher and Gunnar, you're also in.
38:53All three of you can leave the runway.
38:56I'm so excited about winning.
38:58It felt good to build myself back up again
39:01and really make something I felt really strong about.
39:03Alicia, Dimitri, Elena,
39:08your team clearly did not get along.
39:11And it showed.
39:13You were all operating on different wavelengths
39:15and there was no cohesion to your looks.
39:20Melissa, Fabio, Ben,
39:22your team may have gotten along okay,
39:25but there's a lot of room for improvement.
39:28You made the most money, but we would have never known.
39:31Your garments looked inexpensive
39:32and sad.
39:36Melissa, you're in.
39:38You can leave the runway.
39:43Ben, you're in.
39:45You can leave the runway.
39:47It's nice to meet you.
39:51Elena, you're in.
39:52You can leave the runway.
39:59Dimitri, you're in.
40:00You can leave the runway.
40:01Thank you, guys.
40:02Fabio, Alicia, one of you will be out.
40:14Alicia, you're out.
40:22Fabio, that means you're in.
40:23You can leave the runway.
40:24I'm sorry, Alicia.
40:31I'm sorry, too.
40:33Auf Wiedersehen.
40:35Bye.
40:36I appreciate it.
40:36Thank you all.
40:37The worst thing about being eliminated is that I always feel like I have more to give.
40:44You know, there's so much more that I want to show.
40:47Hey, guys.
40:49I've never been under this type of pressure and this type of stress, and I've never worked
40:53with and lived with such a diverse group of people.
40:55I will see you soon.
40:57Bye, baby girl.
40:58What a solemn room.
41:03I just have to tell you all, you're the nine most talented designers of season 10, and
41:07now there are eight of you.
41:09So, Alicia, I have to send you to the workroom to clean up your space, and we're all going
41:12to miss you to a rub one.
41:13I'm going to miss you guys, too.
41:15Thanks, Tim.
41:16I've learned a lot being here in a short amount of time.
