00:01Previously on Project Runway...
00:03Designers, Mayor Bloomberg.
00:05Your final challenge.
00:06You get to draw inspiration from New York City itself.
00:09This challenge determines who among you
00:11will go on to New York Fashion Week.
00:13This final challenge can make or break me.
00:16This is it.
00:17I feel like I'm ready.
00:22Michael, congratulations.
00:24You'll be coming back to New York.
00:27Mondo, you're in.
00:28Thank you so much.
00:30Andy, you're in.
00:33Oh, my God!
00:34April, I'm sorry.
00:36You're out.
00:39Gretchen, you're in.
00:43That's not over yet.
00:44You're all competing for three spaces.
00:49This is Project Runway.
00:51The winner of Project Runway will receive
00:53$100,000 from L'Oreal Paris to start their own line,
00:56a fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine,
00:59a $50,000 technology suite from HP and Intel
01:02to create their vision and run their business,
01:04and the opportunity to design and sell
01:06an exclusive collection on PiperLime.com.
01:08The model paired with the winner of Project Runway
01:10will receive a fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine,
01:12and $25,000 from L'Oreal Paris Studio Secrets Professionals.
01:16Hello.
01:17Hi.
01:18Congratulations, everybody.
01:21The final four.
01:22Each of you will be designing a collection, but only three of you will be showing at New
01:36York Fashion Week.
01:37We want to see more from you before we make our final decision.
01:42I'm going to give each of you $9,000 in the next six weeks to create a 10-piece collection to show at Lincoln Center.
01:52And now let's bring someone out that is very near and dear to you all.
01:56You knew it would be me.
01:59Designers, I really don't have the adequate words to express how proud I am of you.
02:04And before you know it, you're going to hear a knock, knock, knock on your door.
02:08It will be me coming to check up on the development of your collection.
02:12Work hard.
02:14Wow us.
02:15Mm-hmm.
02:16And I see you back in New York.
02:18Bye, everybody.
02:19Bye.
02:20It's not over.
02:21Knowing I have to go home and bust ass for six weeks to come back to see if I can show at Fashion Week is tough.
02:32At the beginning of this whole journey, I was kind of feeling like the odd man out.
02:36But I know that there's a bigger plan for me.
02:39This is my dream and it's going to come true one way or another.
02:44Every second that goes by, it's still in my head.
02:47I'm making a Fashion Week collection.
02:49I don't want to say that I'm going to have the last laugh, but...
02:56I know that I can go home and turn out a collection that still is very me, but will surprise these judges.
03:02And that's what's going to get me to Fashion Week.
03:10I'm off to check in with our four finalists and see the progress of their collections.
03:14First up is Andy South on the island of Oahu in Hawaii.
03:18The fact that Tim has come to Hawaii is exciting.
03:21I'm in touch with my roots here.
03:22I can understand that.
03:23I mean, literally and metaphorically.
03:24Mm-hmm.
03:25The world that I come from is different from everyone else.
03:28And I'm happy that I can say that.
03:30Hi, Mom.
03:31Nora, I'm so thrilled to see you again.
03:33You're welcome to Hawaii.
03:35Nora, this food smells wonderful.
03:36My largest supporter is definitely my mother.
03:39Be careful.
03:40And sometimes she leaves me breathless with the amount of sacrifices that she's willing to do for me.
03:46All right, let's eat.
03:47Yes.
03:48Definitely.
03:49The critique today with Tim.
03:53I'm worried because I'm still in the beginning stages of my collection.
03:56But then again, I only have two weeks left.
03:59Hey, here we are.
04:02Wow.
04:03This is huge.
04:04Yeah.
04:05This is wonderful, Andy.
04:06This is my inspiration wall.
04:08The first image that I pulled was a picture of the Buddha Park.
04:11I've always wanted to do a collection that was inspired by home.
04:13Are you using any Laotian textiles?
04:15I am.
04:16I'm using fabric that was hand-woven in Laos.
04:18I literally got my last package yesterday.
04:21So it's all here?
04:22It's all finally here.
04:23I've been thinking about this concept and adding ideas and adding so many things,
04:27but I don't know what the clothing looks like.
04:30And I understand what's been holding you back.
04:32It's been the arrival of these, but now that they're here, you've got to go, go, go.
04:36Go figure, Andy's down to the wire.
04:38I'll see you in a mere two weeks.
04:40Hopefully I figure this out later.
04:42I know.
04:43Two weeks for ten looks.
04:44Bye, Andy.
04:45Bye.
04:46That really scares me.
04:55Next, I'm off to see Michael Costello in Palm Springs, California.
04:59How are we packing the shoes?
05:01Um, good question.
05:03I'm really excited.
05:04Just to have Tim coming over to your house is pretty damn cool.
05:11Michael.
05:12Hi.
05:13I'm thrilled to see you.
05:14This is Richard.
05:15Hi, Richard.
05:16How are you?
05:17Nice to meet you.
05:18Nice to meet you, too.
05:19And Richard's helping me pack for the big day.
05:22I took inspiration from Puskai and I just fell in love with the colors.
05:25This is a fringe top that's just, you know, being held together.
05:30I'll say.
05:31By what?
05:32By, like, just glue until it gets stitched.
05:34It's a lot of pressure.
05:35You have to present ten amazing pieces.
05:38I'm gonna push myself.
05:39I'm gonna make 150 pieces if I can.
05:42Here alone, you have 12 looks.
05:44True.
05:45And then we have the reject rack.
05:46The reject rack.
05:47Which has, what, six looks on it?
05:49Yeah.
05:50So we have 18 looks.
05:51It's like design diarrhea.
05:53And it's just...
05:54That's so nice.
05:55You've got to bring some editing to this.
05:57All right?
05:58So let's go get some air.
05:59Guess who's here?
06:00Giovanni's here.
06:01I can't wait to see you.
06:02Oh, I can't wait to see Giovanni.
06:03So who's coming to New York for Fashion Week?
06:06Richard.
06:07I am.
06:08Giovanni?
06:09Giovanni's gonna be in school with my mom.
06:14Well, Richard will be there for you.
06:15I don't think his parents should be there.
06:17Because...
06:18His parents haven't been the supporter.
06:21They just started being the supporter since he got on the show.
06:24For the past four years, it's been them telling him he needs to give it up.
06:30You're not talented.
06:31It's hard.
06:32It really is.
06:33On February 28, 2007, Richard outed me to my mom and dad.
06:39I was terrified.
06:41My mom and dad, they did give up on me for a little bit.
06:44You know, this is a big thing for Michael.
06:45To make it this far for him is amazing.
06:48Yes.
06:49Winning would be so amazing.
06:50Proving to my family that I can do it and be the best.
06:54I'm still nervous, though.
06:56Yeah.
06:57You're the best.
06:58I'm still nervous.
06:59You're the best.
07:00Then, you're the best.
07:01Coming up on Project Runway.
07:03You were trying too hard.
07:04I don't feel like I'm trying too hard.
07:05to show them exactly who I am.
07:13Next, I'm off to see Mondo Guerra in Denver, Colorado.
07:19Oh, Lord.
07:21Mondo!
07:22Hi.
07:23This is it.
07:24Glad to see you.
07:25Welcome to Denver.
07:26One day you're in, and probably for the next few years,
07:29you're going to be out.
07:30So I don't want to F it up.
07:33What a great space.
07:36I kind of wanted to stay true to my upbringing
07:39and being in the neighborhood.
07:40So I started looking at vintage circuses in Mexico City.
07:46I wanted something a little gritty, kind of creepy.
07:50So then I started getting into the Day of the Dead.
07:52As you can see, all my fabrics are all these neutrals.
07:56And what are the screens for?
07:57I'm going to silkscreen a T-shirt dress.
07:59Well, this is the marriage of Day of the Dead with the Clowns.
08:01Yeah.
08:02I'm intrigued.
08:03For my final collection, it's still Mondo,
08:06but it's, like, polished.
08:08You know, when I was looking at the circus,
08:10a lot of the trapeze artists were those harnesses, you know?
08:12Mm-hmm.
08:13I don't want anything to have a feeling
08:15that you were trying too hard.
08:17I don't feel like I'm trying too hard.
08:18I want to show them exactly who I am.
08:22Oh, man, I am so, so, so, so, so close.
08:25Like, I can taste it.
08:26I'm so proud of you.
08:27This is my train.
08:29And welcome.
08:30Aw, thank you, Jerry.
08:31Welcome.
08:32Welcome.
08:32Mm-hmm.
08:33So how are you all feeling about what's happening to Mondo?
08:38Pretty amazing.
08:39Excited.
08:40Aw.
08:42Growing up in a Mexican Catholic family, they have different expectations of what you should be doing.
08:48But I am happy.
08:51You might doubt that you're cool because you draw or you paint and you're not outside playing baseball, you know?
08:59You are cool.
09:00Beautiful.
09:01It just might take a little while.
09:02Finally, I'm off to see Gretchen Jones in Portland, Oregon.
09:14Aw, how sweet that is.
09:15I really missed Tim.
09:20But I also feel really proud of what I've created and I'm really excited to show him.
09:24The collection is really based on taking my rural Western roots and then dabbling with cultures from around the world that are also rural.
09:35What I wanted to do is play with safari or tribal things in a way that's very sophisticated.
09:40It's looking costumey.
09:42All she needs is a lot of turquoise jewelry and a headband, you know?
09:46Right.
09:47You're not going to be neutral.
09:48You're going to love it.
09:49You're going to hate it.
09:50But that's what you want.
09:51You want it to be a bit of, what is that?
09:54Okay.
09:55All right?
09:56Great.
09:57I have no idea what anybody else is making, but I think what I'm making is worthy of a win.
10:03How beautiful this is.
10:05So, Kate, where did all this come from?
10:07You know, I don't know, but from a very young age, if her tights weren't perfect, we did not go to preschool.
10:14You are a control freak.
10:16Mm-hmm.
10:17This has been an invaluable experience.
10:20To your continued success.
10:22Absolutely.
10:23As well as one of the hardest things I've ever done in my life.
10:26Coming up on Project Runway.
10:28What do you think?
10:29It's always going to be evil, no matter what's in it.
10:31You know what this is?
10:32Oh, my God.
10:33What?
10:34This jersey dress, it looked like crap.
10:37I feel like this is the end.
10:49Man, I'm back in New York, and we're staying at the Hilton.
10:53I don't think I've ever slept in a bag that big.
10:58I'm more scared than excited about being back in New York.
11:02It's still not down to the final three yet.
11:04Hello!
11:08Michael!
11:09God, did I scare you?
11:10God!
11:11God, that was awful.
11:12How are you doing?
11:13It was me.
11:14I just scared you.
11:15Your pants scare me.
11:16Andy!
11:17Last of the Mohicans.
11:18I'm in love with Andy's hair.
11:19Unbelievable.
11:20Unbelievable.
11:21He looks like Pocahontas meets Naomi Campbell.
11:23Gretchen!
11:24Gretchen!
11:25Gretchen!
11:26Hi!
11:27Walking into the Hilton suite is kind of overwhelming.
11:29I just missed everybody.
11:30They're my boys.
11:31Hi!
11:32This is what happens when you leave your door.
11:34I'm in love with Andy's hair.
11:35I'm in love with Andy's hair.
11:36Unbelievable.
11:37He looks like Pocahontas meets Naomi Campbell.
11:38Gretchen!
11:39Gretchen!
11:40Gretchen!
11:41Hi!
11:42Hi!
11:43This is what happens when you leave your door unlocked.
11:48Well, first of all, welcome to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and to the Hilton, New York.
11:53Isn't this fabulous?
11:54Yes.
11:55And...
11:56Oh, Lord.
11:58It's in his hand.
12:00Oh, God.
12:01It's always going to be evil, no matter what's in it.
12:04You know what this is?
12:05The Hilton is giving each of you your choice of a resort vacation, either in the Hilton,
12:12Barbados.
12:13Oh, my God.
12:14What?
12:15The Hilton Papagaya Costa Rica Resort & Spa.
12:17Or, Andy, the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort.
12:21Oh, my God!
12:22It's a trip for two, so you can take me.
12:25Oh, no!
12:26Finally, something good came out of the button bag.
12:29Have a good night's sleep tonight, because beginning tomorrow, it's going to be a long
12:35haul to our finale show.
12:37Extremely proud of all of you.
12:38And I'll see you in the morning.
12:39All right.
12:40Thank you so much, Tim.
12:41Thank you, Tim.
12:42Bye, everyone.
12:43See you tomorrow.
12:45.
12:53.
12:55Wow.
12:57That's so pretty.
12:58.
13:01There is a lot on my mind right now.
13:02The pressure of having this chance to really fight for this last spot.
13:06spot good morning designers as you all know four of you will be competing for
13:14three spaces at Mercedes men's fashion week and in order to determine which
13:19three of the four of you will move forward you will be presenting three
13:23looks to the judges two of those looks will come from your collection one look
13:30you will design and create over the next two days use this additional look to
13:36enhance the current collection I'm giving you 30 minutes to sketch then
13:41we're going to move where you'll have a budget of $300 all right I'll be back in
13:4530 minutes everyone thank you what I'm looking for in this third piece is to
13:51create maybe a little bit more casual dress I want my collection to be
13:56cohesive and I can't think of what else I want to show
14:03I came up with this design of a one-sided shoulder dress it's pretty I'm gonna look
14:14for fabrics that's gonna be able to blend into this collection the thing is I don't
14:18know if I can even match this green because it's a really hard green to match
14:20all right everyone time is up thank you mood I've decided I'm just gonna go with my
14:32original fabric all green look the pleats that I'm doing are really detailed and it
14:36gives you a lot of depth to a fabric that already has a lot of depth I'm working on
14:42this Jersey dress I just wanted to look fluid and have a nice flow but I thought it looked like crap I've
14:47wasted yet another day on a two-day challenge I feel like this is the end
14:52coming up on project runway I'm worried about you worried about me too Mondo
14:59Brendan and Andy don't choke designers and models we're going to the runway I have to be there this
15:06is my dream
15:17designers how is everybody all right I'm here to check in with you see how you're doing what are
15:27you showing this with which two looks from the collection are going to be presented to the
15:31judges that's what I'm having a hard time you don't know I'm worried about you having Tim worry about me
15:37scares me his opinion means a lot to me I needed a youthful playful dress you have it yeah to be blunt
15:46I think you could pick pieces at random from the rack and have continuity
15:50well that makes me feel better okay I feel good leaving you great thank you very much thank you
15:54Gretchen have a good day well Mondo wouldn't be Mondo without being surrounded by flotsam and
15:59jetsam hi this is the pit this is my area I'm doing I wanted to bring in more color into the collection so I
16:06did this turquoise top with a pink and then I did the square pyramid studs just to contrast against the polka
16:14that love the look thanks Mondo thank you so how's Andy good pretty good so which is the new
16:20look the new look is this green piece Wow who did the pleating I did how in this little teeny bit of
16:28time I'm a fast worker I have a pleating board well you are a fast worker because I'm looking at what's
16:33on the rack yeah there's a lot of peace and considering where you were when I left you I've
16:38been worried about stop I think you're in superb shape it makes me feel a lot better you should
16:43okay all right thank you Andy thank you Tim all right designers I have the following to say to
16:51Mondo and Gretchen and Andy carry on continue this fabulous trajectory okay Michael Costello
16:58don't choke okay all right bye everybody I'll see you later take care
17:06okay let's go ladies good morning designers you have two hours to send your models to the
17:32L'Oreal Paris makeup room in the Garnier hair salon if you choose to use the Piper Lime accessory wall
17:37you certainly may and I'm sending in your models thank you Tim take your shoes off we're gonna start
17:47putting everything together all in all I'm really happy and looking forward to seeing this stuff on
17:54models now that I'm seeing everything come together the way that I intended it to it's looking really good
18:00basically I want a little bit of like shine just to create that really ethereal type of look center
18:07part kind of barrel rolled out a little these just go right into the front severe smoky eye like a panda
18:19a really pretty peachy coral lip a little gold shimmer through the lid I'm nervous can you tell a little bit
18:26all right all right all right okay go back to start all right bye guys
18:31designers and models in 10 minutes we're going to the runway all right 10 minutes everyone thank you
18:42thanks Tim I want to go to Lincoln Center I want to show at fashion week I have to be there I want you guys to line up there
18:51there are people who have believed in me from the beginning and this is kind of my way of showing
18:57them that they were right it's all or nothing this is my dream it's really my dream this is what I've
19:07always wanted I'm so close coming up on project runway my interest was not piqued I just hope that the
19:18circus doesn't come to town you have to pump up the volume you might be out today that's a real big
19:25gamble hello everybody hi welcome back to New York and welcome back to the runway tonight we decide which
19:44three of you will compete at Mercedes-Benz fashion week and which one of you will be out tonight you
19:52will show us two looks that you feel best represent your collection and a brand new look that we had
19:59you create when you arrived here in New York let's say hello to the judges first we have CFDA lifetime
20:06achievement award winner Michael course hey guys and fashion director for Mary Claire magazine Nina Garcia
20:14welcome back thank you all right let's start the show
20:19I set out to show the judges a certain side of me and I feel like accomplished that
20:34I want to do something that's very me but a lighter version to really show that there's a maturity of
20:43editing that I've learned that has such pretty movement I'm really in love with my 11th look I just
20:58absolutely think it's a great piece and I think it's perfect to fit into my collection
21:13I'm not gonna say I don't love my collection because I'd be lying I I love every single piece
21:28everything just needs to look flawless because it's Lincoln Center and the judges want to send people
21:36who are worthy everyone's expecting for me to just send 20 dresses down a runway but there's pants there's
21:42some separates there's some tops and I do think that I have the potential to win this
22:01I like my looks I think they're pretty I feel like it represented my favorite look and a little bit of
22:11drama while trying to incorporate hats and jewelry and accessories and street and a little bit of magical drama
22:20I just want to get through I just want to make it to fashion week
22:30I'm feeling really good watching my girls walk down the runway
22:42my mini collection looks very cohesive and it looks just like that it looks exactly like mondo and I
22:57I wouldn't change a thing from head to toe I think that it is 100% who I am and you know they might like it they might not but I'm ecstatic
23:09three of you will be competing at Mercedes-Benz fashion week and one of you will be out
23:24three of you will be competing at Mercedes-Benz fashion week and one of you will be out
23:39three of us please another three of us
23:43everybody in the
23:44monday
23:46we're going to speak to you first let's bring out your應該
23:48well
23:49I know
23:50how these three looks represent your collection
23:52It's a little of everything.
23:53You know, I love to mix prints.
23:55And for this collection, I did a lot of screen printing,
23:59which I introduced with the bag that Ian's holding.
24:02For this one, I wanted to keep it a little plain
24:05with more neutral kind of palette.
24:07And so with all my accessories, I've done a lot of color.
24:13If he's wearing my creation, I did this week.
24:16I love the skirt on the new outfit,
24:19and I like the blouse on that outfit.
24:21I like the individual pieces.
24:23People can do their own thing with it.
24:25I think that's a plus.
24:26I do like the skirt a lot with the little yellow belt,
24:30but I do not like this turquoise top.
24:33I love this dress.
24:34I think it's spectacular.
24:36Will you give us a once-around?
24:39I think it's so nice.
24:41I think it's actually very elegant.
24:43I love the boldness.
24:46I love the theatricality that you bring to a show.
24:49Having said that, I disagree with Heidi on this polka dot dress.
24:55When it gets too wacky, that's when I'm worried about.
24:58I don't want people to not take you seriously
25:01and think that you're putting on a circus collection.
25:04I think the reality is you want to be true to yourself as a designer,
25:08but I hope there's some balance.
25:10Okay.
25:11There are some pieces that I think you might be surprised to see.
25:15Thank you, Mondo.
25:16Models, you can use the runway.
25:17Andi.
25:24I was really inspired by the Buddha Park in Vientiane, Laos.
25:28My new look is this green.
25:30I think the green is sophisticated.
25:33I love the color, and I think it looks really well-made.
25:35This green dress sings.
25:37It's sharp but romantic.
25:40The color is great.
25:42It looks very bare.
25:44Is there a range?
25:45There is.
25:46There's definitely a range in the collection.
25:48I mean, I didn't show you, obviously.
25:50Right, but I mean, you might be out today.
25:52That's a real big gamble.
25:54My dilemma with making the choice was, like,
25:57do I give you all the goodies now, or do I...
25:59Well, yeah.
26:00Yeah.
26:00Today is the day.
26:01You got to sell us today.
26:02This is it.
26:03Okay.
26:06Thank you to the models.
26:07You can do the runway.
26:17Michael.
26:18I wanted to show you that I am able to create pieces that can have some structure.
26:23My 11th look was this dress right here, and there's some great pieces in my collection.
26:30I like the gown because it looks effortless.
26:33It doesn't look worked.
26:34It looks like the fabric just went on, and it moves.
26:38I like the back.
26:39The dress is good at every angle.
26:41I am amazed that you decided to do everything in the same color.
26:46It looks like they're all going to the same party where there is not a dress code, but
26:51a color code.
26:52I just wanted to create something that would look like a collection.
26:56It can't be that what turns it into a collection is a color palette only.
27:02It really has to tell a story.
27:04You're absolutely right.
27:05Michael, we've heard what you had to say.
27:08Models, thank you.
27:09You can leave the runway.
27:11Gretchen, with my three looks, what I really wanted to represent was what I think are key
27:26elements to my collection.
27:28My 11th look, where I was missing an element, was referencing this type of silhouette and doing
27:35so in a manner that was a little bit more casual.
27:38But I also didn't want to reveal too much.
27:41I just wanted to pique your interest enough that you'd want to see more.
27:45It feels a little crunchy granola.
27:48They're still walking on a runway at Lincoln Center.
27:51I mean, the only glimmer of hope that I have of somewhat polish is this look that you did
27:57in leather.
27:59With this linen sack dress, I'm really seriously wondering, where are the Birkenstocks?
28:04You have to give these girls a little more oomph from the hair, from the makeup, from the
28:09shoes.
28:09I don't know where you're going to get it from.
28:11I think the pieces are great, but something has to be different.
28:14I think you should put them all in high heels.
28:17It gives them different posture.
28:19They walk different.
28:20They're a little sassier.
28:21Because they're all, like, schlumping along.
28:23They're a bit like, hey, dude, what's going on?
28:25I think you've got to, like, sit here and think about, how would I reconfigure this to
28:30make it look more expensive?
28:32And let me ask you a question.
28:34The opposite of Michael's situation.
28:36His girl, you know, doesn't get out of bed until midnight.
28:40And your girl, I think, like, when the sun goes down, she has to lock herself in the house.
28:44No, that's not true.
28:45I have multiple options.
28:47I have a cocktail dress.
28:49I have what I consider my version of a red carpet dress.
28:54I have...
28:54So, once again, you've got to...
28:56I don't get how you guys edited today.
28:58Yeah, me neither.
28:59I don't get it.
28:59It's weird.
29:00It's...
29:01It's about enticing us with the variety of what you have to show so that we're curious
29:08about what's next.
29:10Models, thank you.
29:11You can leave the runway.
29:12We're going to have a little chat, and then I'll call you back out.
29:15You can leave the runway.
29:24That was intense.
29:30We just all right now, at this moment, need to take a deep breath and just know what's
29:35coming and try, and try really hard to deal with it.
29:40We're right there.
29:41We're right there.
29:42We're like minutes.
29:44Girl.
29:45Minutes away.
29:49We're one week away from fashion week, and we hammered into them today.
29:54I feel a little bit bad.
29:56This is the do or die moment.
29:57Yes.
29:57And this is the opportunity for them to correct anything that is missing, and for us to voice
30:03our concerns.
30:04I'm concerned.
30:04I'm very concerned with what they actually decided to show us.
30:08Yeah.
30:09All right, let's talk about Gretchen.
30:10I happen to like her outfits.
30:13I like that she knows who she is, and she stood by that, which is granola.
30:17No, I mean, it wasn't granola deluxe.
30:20That's what happened.
30:20It's too reality-based.
30:22We need a good show.
30:23Right.
30:24And do you think she will be able to do that, or do you think it will be a granola festival?
30:29The hat with the leather jacket gave me a glimmer of hope.
30:33But I certainly think that there is an attitude to the clothes, which I think is interesting.
30:38And I think there's nothing wrong with granola, but it has to be fashion show granola.
30:46Let's talk about Mundo.
30:48I love that he has the showmanship.
30:51He has it in spades.
30:52Right.
30:53He needs a little bit of Gretchen.
30:55Yeah, they need to balance it.
30:56Yes, they need to balance each other.
30:58He runs the risk of being taken as a joke.
31:01And that's what I am concerned about.
31:04Once you lose that credibility, you can't regain it.
31:07You lose all the people.
31:08Right.
31:09I know what you mean, but I feel like he has a fine line in a way.
31:12The skirt was great.
31:13The blouse was great.
31:15He uses color really well.
31:17He mixes sprints really well.
31:19He takes a lot of risks.
31:22They're all well-made, too.
31:23I mean, they look really good.
31:25I just hope, honestly, that, you know, the circus doesn't come to town.
31:30Yeah.
31:30I mean, that's what you really have to worry about.
31:35All right, let's talk about Michael.
31:37Michael's are like, I don't know, they're like stage costume cocktail wear.
31:41What was he thinking?
31:43What was Michael thinking?
31:44I mean, really?
31:45Why are they all in the same color?
31:46I think that in his mind, he thought, well, if they're all the same color, that equals a collection.
31:53Right.
31:54I mean.
31:54And that's not a collection.
31:56He is a great draper, though.
31:57He does have good angles of the woman's body.
32:01Those are his best things.
32:02I mean, the way, you know, her back in the slit and the way, I mean, it did move beautifully.
32:07I mean, he is very, very good at that.
32:09He's a fine designer.
32:10So did he bring these today because he thought these were the razzle-dazzle, and are there
32:16some beautiful, elegant, simple pieces that he didn't show us?
32:20I don't know.
32:23Let's move on to Andy.
32:26Andy, oh.
32:28He actually said, oh, you know, I didn't bring today my best pieces.
32:34He wanted to surprise us with a fairy bikini with a cape.
32:37The cape going under the boots.
32:40And, excuse me, from what I've seen here, it's evening wear and a bikini.
32:47I haven't seen any day clothes yet.
32:49I do think he has listened to us.
32:52I think he's managed to, you know, kind of tame that toughness.
32:59And he's trying to push it.
33:00He's trying to bring in a sense of drama.
33:03He has ideas.
33:05He thinks out of the box.
33:06Unfortunately, today, I think what he brought to show us, they're disastrous.
33:10The green dress was the best thing.
33:12Yeah.
33:13And I do like the colors.
33:14I like the colors.
33:15I don't know.
33:16To me, he's iffy.
33:17He is iffy.
33:18So, we've made our decision.
33:23Yes, we have.
33:24Of who's going to Fashion Week.
33:26Absolutely.
33:27Yes.
33:27Okay, let's bring them back out.
33:28Three of you will be competing at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, and one of you will be out.
33:51Three of you will be competing at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, and one of you will be out.
34:00First of all, I want to congratulate all of you for making it this far.
34:05All of you, without exception, have grown and evolved as designers during your time on Project
34:13Runway, and you should be proud of that.
34:17Mondo, we loved your showmanship, but don't go too far.
34:21There's a fine line between fashion and costume.
34:24Congratulations, Mondo.
34:29You're going to Lincoln Center.
34:32You can leave the runway.
34:35Yay!
34:43Gretchen, the attitude of your looks will vary you, but you have to keep in mind that these
34:51clothes are going down the runway.
34:53You need to polish your looks and elevate your styling.
34:59Congratulations, Gretchen.
35:00You're going to Fashion Week.
35:02Thank you so much.
35:03You can leave the runway.
35:13Yes!
35:18Good.
35:19Good.
35:21Girl.
35:21Girl!
35:23Okay.
35:29Andy, Michael, one of you will go to Fashion Week, and one of you will be out.
35:37Andy, we think that you did yourself a disservice with the looks that you showed us today.
35:43Your swimsuit and cover-up were underwhelming.
35:48And ironically, your last-minute look was our favorite.
35:55Michael, the monotone color scheme of what you showed today really worried us.
36:00Andy, your craftsmanship was clear, but we wonder if you have something new to say as a designer.
36:07Andy, Andy, you're in, and you're showing at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
36:17Andy, congratulations.
36:20You're in, and you're showing at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
36:32Thank you very much.
36:34Are you in?
36:48Are you in?
36:54I made it, and I'm so thankful that I'm getting this chance.
37:07At the same time, it feels really crappy that Michael isn't going to.
37:11Michael, Michael, you should be very proud of what you've done.
37:21You're a great designer, and we all think that you have a great future ahead of you.
37:26Michael, I'm sorry you're out.
37:39It is in, Michael.
37:41I can't take it, guys.
38:10I can't.
38:13I can't.
38:14I can't.
38:25It's okay.
38:26It's okay.
38:27I just didn't have the strength like I thought I would have to get through.
38:34I just couldn't take it.
38:37The first thing that came to my head was my family.
38:40It's just I feel like once they see it, they're going to say, well, you see?
38:45Just give that up now.
38:47Move back home.
38:48Come live with us.
38:49You're incredibly, incredibly talented.
39:00You did fabulous, fabulous work.
39:04And it's at the women of the judges now.
39:06You know?
39:07You're one of the final four.
39:09This is an extraordinary moment for you.
39:12Extraordinary.
39:13I know it's not that I'm happy about making it there, but I just don't know what to tell
39:18my family about fashion week.
39:20It was then they had so much high expectations of me going and everything.
39:27Michael, the fact that you're this far is extraordinary.
39:31Yeah, I know.
39:32Extraordinary.
39:33You know?
39:34The stuff I did to get this far.
39:35The stuff you did to get this far.
39:36Michael.
39:37Don't cry for me.
39:38Just be happy.
39:39Be strong and give him hell.
39:40Yeah, give him hell.
39:41Listen, you should be so proud of where you are right now.
39:56It's an extraordinary, extraordinary moment for you.
39:59Okay?
40:00Okay.
40:01Okay.
40:02Now send me to the work room at the back of my space.
40:04No.
40:05All right.
40:07Take your knees with me.
40:10Okay, Michael.
40:11We love you.
40:12I love you, too.
40:13And you're incredibly talented.
40:15We're going to see much more of you.
40:17Yes.
40:18All right?
40:19We will.
40:20Okay.
40:21This isn't the end for Michael Costello.
40:23This is just the beginning.
40:25I love you.
40:26He really beat the odds.
40:28So many people didn't think that he would make it this far, and I'm so proud of him.
40:32Take it home.
40:33I love you, Michael.
40:34I learned so much being on Project Runway.
40:38I learned that friends are hard to find and hard to make, and it hurts when you have to say
40:45goodbye to them.
40:49I learned who I am as a designer, and I love my designs, and I love everything about my collection.
40:57Effortless chic.
40:58That's me.
40:59That's me.
41:03Next week on the finale of Project Runway.
41:05Hi, everybody.
41:06Hi.
41:07Welcome back.
41:08It's great to see all of you.
41:10We made ourselves very vulnerable.
41:11You're not the only ones emotional.
41:16Next Stop Fashion Week.
41:17This is for the big prize.
41:21Are you all right?
41:22It's so much pressure.
41:23Hello, everybody.
41:24It's insane.
41:25Our special guest judge today, Jessica Simpson.
41:28You've got to make a decision now.
41:30Enjoy the show.
41:32This was the toughest decision in Project Runway history.
41:55Have a great week.
41:56Take care.
41:57Pretty much too early.
42:01The storfall.
42:02Have a great weekend.
