00:00Well, we have a beautiful day for the first day of July. Lots of sunshine, pretty comfortable.
00:04Humidity is increasing, though, as we head towards the 4th of July, and the chance of storms will also increase.
00:19It's a beautiful, sun-filled day today. Hardly a cloud to be found this morning, at least.
00:24We'll see a few fair-weather cumulus clouds pop up, but a pretty nice first day of July for us.
00:29A little bit of a dip in dew points, too, from the last few days when we had that muggy air.
00:33You could really feel the difference by the end of the day yesterday as that drier air blew in.
00:37But temperatures low to mid-80s pretty much statewide today, even along the North Shore with those light winds today.
00:43Dew points will be a little less, too, upper 50s to low 60s, but humid air is going to start to climb north again tomorrow into Thursday and Friday.
00:51And that increase in moisture, combined with some disturbances, means we will see the chance of storms increase, too, here later in the week.
00:58But in no day, it looks like a washout here, so that's the good news.
01:01We've got a couple disturbances we're watching for the next 24 hours.
01:05One to the west. It's that little X out there. It's just a little pocket of cool air we're off, creating some instability.
01:10And another one to the northwest here, coming out of Canada that's going to kind of clip northern Minnesota.
01:15So tomorrow, we're going to see chances of storms in northern Minnesota.
01:19Minnesota, southwestern Minnesota, I think in between, will stay dry in central Minnesota and the Twin Cities for the most part.
01:24But here comes that couple of disturbances sort of sandwiching us here.
01:28And then that larger upper-level disturbance and cool front moves in Friday night.
01:32That's what's going to create probably the best chance of widespread showers and storms here over the next several days.
01:37So tomorrow morning, some showers to the north.
01:40Again, the southwest. Dry here.
01:42But then as we head in the afternoon, we could see a couple of storms pop up here across north-central Minnesota.
01:47Again, I think we stay dry here.
01:49But there's going to be enough energy in the atmosphere that a couple of storms could produce some large hail, maybe a brief wind gust, too.
01:55So not really a severe weather day, but we do have a marginal risk.
01:59Level 1 out of 5 of some severe weather for central and southern Minnesota into western Wisconsin.
02:04Pretty broad area because it depends upon where those very isolated cells pop up.
02:09Most of us, again, will stay dry during the day tomorrow.
02:12But there will be one or two of those around.
02:14Temperatures a little warmer tomorrow, too.
02:16Mid to upper 80s for highs here across southern Minnesota.
02:19Western Minnesota a little cooler in the northeastern part of the state.
02:23And then we've got this blast of heat moving in along with the higher dew points.
02:26Friday, temperatures near 90.
02:28Probably upper 80s here on Saturday, too, before some cooler, drier air moves in Sunday into Monday.
02:33We'll see a big drop in those dew points again.
02:35And that'll help stabilize the atmosphere across the region once again, too.
02:40But, yeah, Friday close to 90 degrees here for a big chunk of the state.
02:43And with dew points in the low 70s, it will feel like it's into the 90s.
02:47So not as hot as what we had a couple weeks ago when we had those triple-digit heat indices.
02:50But well into the 90s is what it will feel like Friday afternoon.
02:54So a hot 4th of July.
02:55And during most of the day, just steamy.
02:58And we'll see a fair amount of sun.
02:59But near that front, thunderstorms pop late in the day.
03:02And then the overnight hours is the best chance for the rest of us here in central and southern Minnesota into western Wisconsin.
03:08Probably a little unstable here still Saturday.
03:11Some thunderstorms popping up later in the day.
03:13But, again, it's a midday sun.
03:15Pretty warm and humid during the day Saturday.
03:17So, again, no all-day rainfalls here.
03:20But those late-day storms and overnight storms, very possible here Friday and Saturday.
03:24And enough energy that we'll have to watch Friday night for some potential severe weather.
03:28All will depend on the timing here and how those conditions play out.
03:33But 84 today, lots of sun.
03:35Tomorrow, upper 80s.
03:36A little more humid.
03:38An isolated shower or thunderstorm possible the next couple days.
03:41But the best chance really does come in late Friday into Friday night with those lingering showers and storms potentially late Saturday.
03:48But more comfortable here and a touch cooler Sunday, Monday back in the low 80s.
03:52But, importantly, those dew points will drop.
