00:00Well, it is a little cooler today and tomorrow by about 10 to 15 degrees, but still above normal.

00:04We have a May heat wave on the way, a string of 80s, still a possible 90 degrees in sight.

00:20So yeah, a good 10 to 20 degrees cooler now compared to yesterday, especially places around

00:26Lake Superior because yesterday they had a northwest wind behind that front in Duluth

00:30hit 84 degrees and now they've got that cold lake air with the northeast breeze blowing right off

00:35of Lake Superior and that water is cold. No surprise. It should be here in the spring.

00:41But just how cold? Well, water temperatures, surface water temperatures are mostly in the 30s

00:46across Lake Superior, averaging 38 degrees right now. Lake Michigan a little bit warmer, but yeah,

00:52that's why this time of year, anytime Duluth has a wind off the lake, it is considerably colder.

00:57So 40s and 50s around the Big Lake today. You can see that on the temperatures here.

01:0160s for the most part inland for northern Minnesota and still low 70s here in the Twin Cities.

01:07Tonight's going to be chilly though, down to the 40s across southern Minnesota.

01:10No risk of frost in the Twin Cities, but northeastern Minnesota will be right near the freezing mark

01:15and tomorrow will be another cooler day compared to the last several, but again,

01:19still a few degrees above that average of 67. I think we'll be at 70 here, mid-70s out west, but

01:24the 80 degree summer-like temperatures are already back Friday, low to mid-80s across central and

01:29southern Minnesota and probably staying around 80 the way it looks like now Saturday and into next week,

01:3580 degrees plus. We're still watching another week cool front late Friday. This is 4 p.m. Friday.

01:40It'll be dividing the state here. Basically another wind shift, very subtle temperature drop, but

01:46it could be enough to produce an isolated shower or thunderstorm. So already midday, we could see a few

01:52isolated sprinkles and the NAM model is producing one whole thunderstorm maybe late Friday. So that's

01:58something to watch because of course, otherwise it's a very dry pattern. Overall, that upper level ridge

02:03just is parked over us and that means lots of clear skies and above normal temperatures. But by mid to late

02:10week next week, we could start to see an upper level low or trough in the west start to break down that

02:15pattern. That could give us some precip again. Otherwise, it's going to be pretty dry. And

02:18temperatures next week will be averaging 10 to 20 degrees above normal across Minnesota, the Dakotas,

02:24Wisconsin, and Iowa. And again, once we hit 80 on Friday, we could be in for a week's worth of 80

02:30degree plus temperatures, which is not easy to do in mid-May. That is a little unusual for sure to have

02:36that many consecutive 80 degree days. And about half the models are still producing temperatures close to 90,

02:42maybe as early as Sunday, both the European and Canadian model at 89. And then the Canadian model

02:47here has a couple of 90 degree chances next week. So that'll be something else to watch. Otherwise,

02:53yeah, the next seven days forecast rainfall, really nothing in Minnesota until that pattern breaks down

02:59again, potentially by later next week. 72 today, beautiful 71 tomorrow, a chilly start to the day

03:06tomorrow compared to the last few mornings, 46. But again, no frost issues or concern in the Twin

03:12Cities. Warmer temperatures are back Friday into the weekend and all of next week running about 15

03:17degrees above normal. And we'll see if we can get close to 90.
