00:00Hi there and welcome to the Met Office forecast for the upcoming weekend.
00:04The story of spring 2025 has been the persistent areas of high pressure staying close to the UK
00:10and this weekend is no exception.
00:12Watch how little movement there is with this area of high pressure sitting to the north of the UK
00:17during Saturday and into Sunday and that effectively means it's going to block rain-bearing weather systems,
00:24it's going to stay dry and for the most part it's going to stay sunny.
00:29But it won't be sunny everywhere all the time.
00:32In fact on Saturday morning there will be rather a lot of cloud, particularly across much of England into East Wales
00:37and that cloud will tend to retreat back towards the east coast during the morning
00:42although a few patches will be a bit more stubborn, perhaps lasting until early afternoon.
00:47By mid-afternoon it's really that north sea coast where we keep the cloud and a cool breeze
00:51and that will make a difference as far as how the weather feels.
00:54There will be a lot of cloud and some murky conditions around the far north of Scotland as well
00:59but elsewhere once that cloud retreats it's clear blue skies across the board
01:05and in the sunshine out of the breeze feeling very pleasant, in fact feeling really quite warm for the time of year.
01:12We're talking about high UV levels virtually everywhere apart from northern Scotland
01:16and temperatures of 23 Celsius but more like mid-teens on the north seacoast
01:22or perhaps a touch lower if we keep the low cloud throughout.
01:26And then we start Sunday with more low cloud.
01:29It tends to creep back in overnight before once more retreating back to the east coast
01:34during the morning and into the early afternoon
01:36and by the afternoon on Sunday it's a repeat of Saturday afternoon.
01:41Clear blue skies for most away from that far north and far east coast.
01:45Again, a cool breeze coming onto that east coast
01:48but inland we've got some sunshine and some shelter from the breeze.
01:52It's going to feel very warm with temperatures reaching the low 20s.
01:57Again, high UV levels if you're spending time outdoors make sure you factor that in.
02:02And how long does the high pressure stick around for?
02:04Well, it's still with us on Monday.
02:06Although on Monday a couple of showers could appear here and there
02:10as an area of instability moves in from the east.
02:13High pressure still nearby on Tuesday and into Wednesday
02:17but some signs of a change by the end of next week.
02:21A long way off so details are sketchy.
02:24What we can say for sure is that for the next few days including the weekend
02:29high pressure stays with us, it stays dry
02:31and for most it does stay rather sunny.
