28 June - national forecast presented by Alex Deakin
Transcript
00:00Good morning. The heat building this weekend for some parts of the UK. Not everywhere will it be especially hot.
00:07Most of us though will see at least some sunshine. It's a bit of a drab start to the weekend for Belfast, the central belt of Scotland.
00:14This zone of rain just trickling its way south as though so things are getting a little bit brighter here.
00:19Certainly a much brighter, drier day across the Highlands compared to yesterday.
00:23Still pretty blustery. A gusty wind here which may throw a few showers across but they should zip through because of the strength of the breeze.
00:31Now one zone that's likely to stay pretty dull, far north of England, particularly Cumbria, parts of north Lancashire.
00:37Rain and drizzle on and off here especially over the hills but with a bit of a rain shadow, Liverpool, Manchester may well stay dry.
00:45Certainly most of England and Wales will have a dry day and after a bit of a cloudy start, many areas also seeing plenty of sunshine this afternoon.
00:53Just the possibility that the coast of Wales and southwest England, some areas here may stay a little murky, a little overcast.
01:00It'll still be warm, it'll still be humid but the top temperatures are going to be where we see the sunniest skies.
01:05So across the Midlands, eastern England, 28, 29, maybe 30 degrees in the capital.
01:11Not as hot further north. Pretty pleasant in the sunshine across eastern Scotland.
01:15Temperatures here 22, maybe 23 degrees Celsius.
01:19Now as we go through the evening and overnight, that zone of thicker clouds still with some drizzly rain persists over parts of northwest England.
01:26Again, mostly Cumbria, north Lancashire but some rain and drizzle at times getting into north Wales.
01:31Again, especially across Snowdonia.
01:34Many other areas staying dry.
01:36Quite a contrast between north and south and the feel of the night however because the warm humid air sticks here.
01:41Temperatures holding up in the high teens in urban areas further north.
01:45A good deal more comfortable as temperatures drop down to 10 or 11 degrees Celsius.
01:50Into Sunday, it's a similar story.
01:52Still this central zone with a lot of cloud over parts of northern England.
01:56Rain and drizzle at times in northwest England, maybe southwest Scotland.
02:00We'll see a little bit more.
02:01I suspect of thicker cloud and rain and drizzle edging its way across parts of northern Ireland.
02:06So a different day here again for tomorrow compared to today.
02:10Clouding over a bit in western Scotland but most of Scotland dry and bright, hazy sunshine and certainly further south.
02:16We should see some sunny skies developing after a bit of a cloudy start and the temperatures lifting once more.
02:23More widely up to the mid-20s.
02:25Again, the Midlands, eastern England.
02:27Again, if it stays a bit grey around some coasts in the southwest, temperatures not as high.
02:32It's still quite a warm and a humid feel.
02:34Again, eastern Scotland, 22, 23 degrees in the sunshine.
02:38Now, I wouldn't normally show you Monday's chart, this time through the weekends,
02:42but Monday is likely to see the peak in this current hot spell.
02:46Across central and eastern England, temperatures widely over 30 Celsius, 34, perhaps even 35 in one or two locations.
02:54And by Monday, the hot air has started to push a little further north.
02:57So it's warming up across northern Ireland and Scotland.
03:01So, yeah, plenty to talk about with our weather.
