Good morning to you. In some parts of the UK, the evenings have already started getting lighter,
00:06
but you'll have struggled to notice that because it's only by a matter of seconds,
00:10
and because it's been so very gloomy. But it is getting brighter across the south.
00:15
A lot of cloud to begin with over the Midlands, East Anglia and Southern England,
00:18
where it's been grey for most of the week. But that cloud is pushing away, melting away,
00:23
breaking up to reveal some blue skies for much of Eastern England, South Wales,
00:28
the Midlands and Southern England through the afternoon.
00:30
A few showers this morning over North Wales. They'll peter out.
00:33
Showers over Northern Scotland fading, but only to allow thickening cloud
00:37
and more persistent rain to come in by the end of the day over the Highlands,
00:40
the Western Isles, the Northern Isles and the west of Northern Ireland.
00:43
The wind's picking up here too. The wind's not too noticeable elsewhere,
00:48
quite blustery in some spots this morning, but generally easing,
00:51
and with a bit of sunshine, temperatures still actually a touch below average,
00:55
six or seven Celsius in the east. But because it's been so gloomy,
00:58
I suspect a bit of sunshine today will alter the feel and make it feel a bit warmer
01:02
than it has done. Further west, temperatures eight, nine degrees Celsius,
01:05
and actually it's going to turn milder as this wet weather moves in,
01:09
which will bring some rain and drizzle to Belfast through the central belt
01:12
during this evening, and that trickles south into parts of Northern England and Wales.
01:17
So a bit of rain and drizzle here and there through the night,
01:19
lasting certainly over hills and around coasts.
01:22
The wind's continuing to strengthen as well, and the cloud moving in everywhere once more.
01:27
Before it moves in, temperatures likely to dip away quite sharply over eastern England,
01:32
so well down into single digits here. But further west,
01:36
temperatures will actually rise through the night.
01:38
So we start tomorrow morning in some locations in double figures.
01:41
It is going to be turning milder for all then during Sunday,
01:44
but we'll have lost any sunny spells from today.
01:47
It is going to be a pretty grey day, many areas dry,
01:50
but rain and drizzle over the hills of North Wales, of Northern England.
01:54
And here, particularly over the Pennines and just to the east,
01:57
some bouncy conditions as we say. The wind's getting really gusty at times.
02:01
Those Trans-Pennine routes, very blustery.
02:04
And as I say, to the east of the Pennines also,
02:07
and getting increasingly windy over northwest Scotland.
02:09
So a very gusty and blustery end to the day,
02:12
and also the rain picking up here as we go through the day.
02:16
But it is going to be a mild day.
02:18
Temperatures double digits across the board by the afternoon.
02:21
11, 12 degrees Celsius, maybe 13 if we do see any brighter skies.
02:25
We do need to watch the rain in the northwest starting through Saturday,
02:29
but lasting during Sunday night and Monday, and maybe even longer than that.
02:34
Setting up what we call a warm convey,
02:36
with the rain just feeding in on this wiggling, waving weather front.
02:41
Some uncertainty about the exact position,
02:43
and that will be crucial as to how much rain we see.
02:46
But because the rain could last for 48 hours, maybe more in some locations,
02:50
we do have a Met Office yellow warning in place,
02:53
because that rain could really tot up to give a few issues,
02:56
certainly by the early part of next week.
02:58
Check out the weather warning on the app and on our website.
