Hello again. It's going to be a windy day for many of us. The winds are going to be
00:04
strengthening as we go through this afternoon and into the evening. There's an area of low
00:09
pressure just to the west of us and it's going to track just to the north of the UK and deepen
00:15
as it does so, which is why we are going to see some strong winds, particularly around
00:18
Irish Sea coastal parts, but all western coastal areas likely to have gales and possibly even
00:24
stronger could see gusts of around 60 miles per hour in some places. So there will be
00:27
some travel disruption. Ferries could be affected as well. Watch out for some spray and large
00:33
waves near the coast also. As we go into Wednesday, we are going to see the strongest winds becoming
00:38
confined to the Northern Isles as that low drifts away towards the northeast. But if
00:43
we look at the details through the rest of today, and yes, across parts of Scotland there's
00:48
some heavy outbreaks of rain pushing their way through also across Northern Ireland and
00:52
western parts of England and Wales, there will be outbreaks of rain arriving as well.
00:56
Further east across central and eastern parts, it's actually staying largely dry, but it
01:01
is going to be a bit cloudier than yesterday, only a little bit of sunshine breaking through.
01:06
Temperatures are staying above average for the time of year. Most places getting into
01:10
double figures, so feeling pretty mild, although it is going to be windy and in the wind and
01:15
rain, it's not going to feel pleasant at all. Later on as we go through this evening, more
01:19
wet weather sweeping its way through. So although through the daytime it's looking largely dry
01:23
across the southeast, the wet weather will arrive here later on and overnight and there
01:28
will be some further pulses of something a bit more persistent rain-wise spreading across
01:32
parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland as we go through the night. And all the time
01:36
we do need to be aware that there will be these strong winds. Like I say, the strongest
01:40
winds towards western northern coastal parts, particularly around parts of southwest Scotland,
01:44
eastern Northern Ireland and the north of Wales, but most places it will be pretty blustery.
01:50
As a result of the cloud, the rain, the strong winds, temperatures won't drop much at all.
01:54
In fact, if we look at our overnight minima and these forecast temps are closer to what
01:58
you'd expect for our daytime highs at this time of year. Through tomorrow then a blustery,
02:04
cloudy and for some of us wet start to the day, but a lot of that rain will actually
02:08
clear away towards the east as we go through the morning. And then there will be some brighter
02:12
skies developing. Most of us will see some sunshine, although there will be a few showery
02:17
bursts mixed in with that. And then later on, as we go through the afternoon, we are
02:21
going to see a swathe of heavier, more persistent rain coming in from the southwest, affecting
02:26
parts of southwestern England and across Wales as well. Further north across Scotland, a
02:32
mixture of sunny spells or clear spells and also some squally showers. And these showers
02:37
could be a little bit wintry, some sleet or snow above four to five hundred metres or
02:41
so. Now, temperatures tomorrow are actually going to be a little bit higher than today
02:46
across the south. We're looking at highs in the mid teens for some places further north,
02:51
low teens as will be their maximum. But by the time that we get to the afternoon, colder
02:55
air starting to push its way in. So temperatures by three, four o'clock will have already started
03:00
to drop. There's more wet weather to come across the southern parts as we go through
03:04
Wednesday evening across central southern parts of England and Wales. We could see thirty
03:09
to forty millimetres of rain building up in some places. And so we could see a little
03:13
bit of flooding. Some more travel disruption is possible here. Further north, sticking
03:17
with the clear spells and also some further showers. And these could still be falling
03:21
a sleet or snow over any modest higher ground. Looking further ahead and whilst it is mild
03:26
at the moment, we are going to see a little bit of a dip in our temperatures on Thursday
03:29
before then the temperatures pick up again. But generally, I think the biggest talking
03:33
point will be the fact that there will often be some strong winds around gales in exposed
03:38
spots in particular. And with that swathes of wet weather coming through, either some
03:43
persistent rain or some squally showers. Either way, you'll want to keep up to date with the
03:47
forecast. And if you head to our YouTube channel, you will find our deep dive with honour later
03:52
on this afternoon. I'll see you again soon. Bye bye.
