Hello again. It is still November, but for some of us, it feels more like winter with
00:05
some very cold air across us and the risk of some disruptive snow. That's because we
00:10
have a frontal system that's making its way across the UK and as it bumps into the cold
00:15
Arctic air across northern, northeastern parts of the UK, we are likely to see some of this
00:20
rain turning to snow. So as we go through this evening, already we have some snow over
00:26
the higher ground of Northern Ireland and some wintry showers across parts of Scotland.
00:30
But it's perhaps across northern parts of England, maybe North Wales, where we're likely
00:34
to see the most disruptive weather with potentially, well, 20 centimetres of snow quite possible
00:39
over modest higher ground. I think 5 to 10 centimetres looks most likely and we could
00:44
even see some accumulations to lower levels. There is some uncertainty as to exactly where
00:49
we're going to see this boundary between the rain and the wintriness and so do be aware
00:54
that may not be exactly where it's shown behind me, but nonetheless, the risk of some
00:57
disruption, some difficult driving conditions first thing tomorrow morning across parts
01:02
of Northern England and North Wales. Further north across parts of Scotland, some clearer
01:06
skies for many here and those wintry showers continuing in the far north. And again, we
01:10
could have some disruption because of the snow and also some icy patches as well. Further
01:15
south, it's a cloudier story and the milder air clings on here and so temperatures not
01:20
dropping as much. There'll be some outbreaks of rain as well, but some places staying in
01:23
double figures. Much colder elsewhere further north, particularly across parts of Scotland
01:28
where we have those clear skies. Now, last night was the coldest night of the season
01:32
so far. It's likely that tonight will be even colder, could get to minus eight, perhaps
01:37
even colder than that. So a really frosty, harsh, cold start to the day for some of us
01:42
tomorrow morning. There will also be those wintry hazards around, so some snow lying
01:46
on the ground, but the rain, the snow largely clears away towards the east as we go through
01:51
the morning and then things turn a lot drier and a lot brighter for many of us. Still though,
01:56
some wintry showers coming in from the north across parts of Scotland and there will be
01:59
some outbreaks of rain towards the southwest as well. But like I said, for most, it is
02:04
going to turn much drier, much brighter, but also pretty chilly. We stick with that northerly
02:09
wind and that's bringing that cold Arctic air. And so, well, temperature is going to
02:14
be several degrees below average for the time of year and feeling even colder than this
02:18
when you factor in the wind chill as well. Not a huge amount changes as we go through
02:23
Tuesday evening, so many places having clear skies. We continue with that northerly wind,
02:28
so we continue to see showers piling down from the north. And if you are exposed to
02:33
these showers, so exposed to the northerly wind, so parts of northern Scotland, Northern
02:38
Ireland, down parts of Wales and also down the eastern side of England, here we're likely
02:43
to see some further showers and they could have a wintry element to them as well. Temperatures
02:48
again are going to plummet. It's going to be a very cold night. Quite widely we're going
02:52
to see quite a harsh frost and particularly across parts of the south where it's a mild
02:57
night as we go through into Tuesday morning. Wednesday morning is going to be markedly
03:01
colder here, much frostier. You'll probably need to scrape the windscreen of your car
03:05
if you're heading out early because it is going to be so cold to start. As we go through
03:10
Wednesday itself then, and actually it's not too dissimilar to Tuesday for many places.
03:14
A lot of bright fine weather around but still bitterly cold and there will still be these
03:19
showers in places exposed to that northerly wind, so still northern parts of Scotland
03:24
and down some western and eastern fringes as well. Most places avoiding these though
03:28
and just having a fine day and feeling pretty wintry even though it is still autumn for
03:34
the time being. Like I said, feeling cold, temperatures several degrees below average
03:38
for the time of year. Now as we go later on this week, we are going to continue with
03:43
that northerly wind for a time, so continue to see some further showers. Watch out, there
03:47
could be some more persistent snow coming through at times. There are hints that there's
03:51
a low chance of something coming through in the southwest as we go through Thursday night
03:55
into Friday, so that's definitely one to watch, no guarantee. And then watch out for another
04:00
area of low pressure that's developing as we go towards the weekend. This could bring
04:04
some very unsettled weather, so there is still a lot to look towards as we go through
04:09
the next few days. Remember there will be a week ahead forecast available on our YouTube
04:14
channel with Alex Deakin, also available on our app as well. Otherwise, I'll see you again
04:18
soon. Bye bye.
