Hello again, very good day to you. It may only be Thursday but I'm already looking ahead
00:04
to Friday as that does look set to be the driest day of the week. Ahead of that though,
00:09
there is some wet and windy weather around already. First thing this morning, a wet picture
00:13
across southern parts of the UK. All this rain is in association with a feature that
00:18
has been named by the French Met Service and whilst we have seen some disruption, it hasn't
00:22
been stormy enough for us to warrant naming it ourselves. Further north, a drier picture
00:27
first thing. Clearer skies across parts of Scotland allow temperatures here to drop below
00:31
minus seven, so a frosty start here with some dense patches of mist and fog which could
00:37
linger well through the day. Otherwise, and we will see the heaviest rain and the strongest
00:42
winds in the south east gradually clearing away. And then it's a cloudy story behind
00:46
for many of us. Some brighter breaks perhaps, but these will be pretty limited. And a band
00:51
of rain pushing its way eastwards across parts of Northern Ireland, later reaching the far
00:56
west of Scotland, England and Wales. Some heavy bursts in this and there could even
01:00
be a few rumbles of thunder. Because of the largely cloudy skies, there will be a bit
01:05
of a chilly feel to things. Temperatures ranging from highs around six to eight Celsius in
01:09
the north, just about scraping into double figures towards the south. Later on as we
01:15
go into the evening, that band of rain then will continue its progress eastwards. Still
01:18
some heavy bursts in association with this for a time. Some drier, clearer weather towards
01:23
the north east of Scotland. So again, some mist and fog likely and temperatures dipping
01:28
below freezing here, so some frost once more. Elsewhere and as that rain clears away, we
01:33
will see some clearer skies developing and under these, temperatures likely to take a
01:37
bit of a dip. So it will be a chilly night. Prone rural spots could see a touch of frost
01:41
as well as some fog patches, perhaps even a little bit of freezing fog first thing on
01:46
Friday morning. Otherwise, and once the fog clears through the day, it's looking like
01:50
a largely fine picture for many of us. Yes, there'll be a scattering of showers, particularly
01:54
towards western parts, but these will ease as we go into the afternoon and for many it
01:59
will turn largely dry and sunny too. But turning cloudier towards the southwest of the UK as
02:05
this feature starts to push its way in, bringing some wet and windy weather later. I'll have
02:09
more on that in a second. Temperatures will be a touch higher than on Thursday for many
02:14
of us, but still generally staying in single figures towards the north and east, but something
02:19
a little bit milder towards the southwest. As we go into the weekend, then we are going
02:23
to see this wet and windy weather sweeping its way across the UK. So really, the weekend
02:28
does look pretty unsettled. There will be some heavy rain around, particularly towards
02:32
western southwestern parts and some strong winds as well. So make the most of Friday
02:37
if you can, because the weekend does look like it's going to be a pretty wet and windy
02:41
picture for many of us, albeit with temperatures lifting for a time. So turning a little bit
02:45
milder, probably peaking on Saturday. There will be more information on the full forecast
02:50
for this weekend in our weekend video, which will be available on our YouTube channel later
02:54
this afternoon. So make sure you check that out if you have any major plans. Otherwise,
02:58
I'll see you again soon. Bye bye.
