Hello, welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office. Whilst Tuesday was a
00:05
mostly dry day for much of the UK, southern counties have had quite a bit of rain. That's
00:09
because of this double frontal structure here. It will gradually push its way towards the
00:13
south as we go through Wednesday, with then high pressure building from the west. This
00:17
will lead to drier conditions as we go through the rest of the week, but also bringing our
00:22
air from the north and so we are going to see temperatures dropping.
00:26
Taking a look at Tuesday evening and some wet weather then pushing a little bit further
00:29
northwards perhaps reaching south Wales and into Essex as we go through the night. The
00:34
rain can be heavy at times with some thunder mixed in as well. Elsewhere and apart from
00:37
a few showers towards coastal parts of Scotland, it's looking like a largely dry night with
00:41
some clear skies. Under the clear skies then temperatures are going to take quite a dip.
00:45
Most towns and cities holding up in double figures, but we could get to the low to mid
00:49
single figures Celsius in some prone spots, particularly the sheltered glens of Scotland.
00:53
Notice towards the south where we have the cloudy wet weather, here it is going to stay
00:56
milder. So for many a bright and a little fresh start on Wednesday morning, but a wet
01:03
picture across the southern counties and the rain could be heavy at times as we head through
01:06
morning rush hour and it will take a little time to clear away and so towards the far
01:11
southeast I think it will be well into the afternoon before things turn fully dry and
01:14
bright. Elsewhere across much of the UK it is going to be a fine day with just some showers
01:19
most likely towards northern parts of Scotland. There will be some sunshine around, but despite
01:23
this temperatures in the north likely to be a little bit lower than we have seen of
01:27
late getting into the mid to high teens Celsius at best. In the south temperatures here perhaps
01:32
a touch higher than on Tuesday because the wet weather will have cleared away and there
01:35
will be some sunshine around, but it may feel a touch more comfortable or fresher for some
01:40
because the humidity we have had recently will have also cleared away. As we go through
01:45
the end of Wednesday then I think we will have some late sunshine across southern parts
01:49
of England and also down western side into Wales and Northern Ireland and western parts
01:53
of Scotland too. Notice an area of cloud towards the east may filter into parts of
01:58
the Midlands as we go through the night and where the cloud lingers that will keep temperatures
02:02
from falling too much, but under clear skies it is likely to be a little bit of a fresh
02:06
night. Again across the sheltered glens of Scotland could get into the low single figures
02:10
and notice temperatures towards the south quite a bit lower than we have seen through
02:13
many recent nights. As we look through Thursday then and it will get off to a dry start, albeit
02:19
a little bit cloudy for some eastern parts of England. The cloud here should break up
02:23
a little bit as we go through the afternoon, but the risk of a few showers developing.
02:28
Also quite a few showers across parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland, these feeding in on
02:31
that northerly flow. That northerly flow is also leading to temperatures dropping a little
02:36
bit further, so highs getting into the mid-teens towards the north and only just about into
02:40
the high teens, perhaps scraping into the low 20s towards the south. There is more information
02:46
on the full forecast wherever you are on both the Met Office website, our app and of course
02:50
our social media channels.
