Hello again. The heat wave is going to continue as we head into the weekend, though some of
00:04
us will see something a little bit thundery at times. At the moment, the heat is being
00:08
caused by the southerly flow that we're dragging in as we're sitting in between low pressure
00:13
to the west of us and a blocking high out towards the east. However, as we head into
00:17
the weekend, that high is gradually going to drift eastwards. We will still be under
00:21
the influence of high pressure, but it's weakening. As a result, we will see a cold front starting
00:27
to push its way in from the northwest, and that's going to bring something a bit more
00:31
changeable but also a little bit cooler as we go through the weekend into next week.
00:36
Back to the here and now, and as we go through the rest of Thursday, you can see it's a dry
00:39
picture for most, though notice across parts of Scotland some showery rain is going to
00:44
make its way northeastwards, and this could turn a little heavy, perhaps even thundery
00:48
at times, though most places won't see a huge amount. Otherwise, some murk, some mist, some
00:53
low clouds, some fog pushing in from the North Sea like we've seen through some recent nights,
00:57
and like through some recent nights, it's going to be warm and muggy. Some towns and
01:02
cities will hold up above twenty celsius, so it's going to be uncomfortable for sleeping
01:06
yet again. Through Friday morning, and yes, any mists
01:10
and murk, low cloud will quickly burn back towards the coast generally. Otherwise, plenty
01:15
of sunshine for most, perhaps a bit of cloud around at times, especially in the west and
01:19
southwest. Watch out for a few showers, maybe across parts of Northern Ireland and Western
01:23
Scotland, and also in southwest England. Temperatures may be down a nudge compared
01:31
to Thursday, but still well above average for the time of year. We are likely to just
01:35
about get into the low thirties towards the southeast, so that would make it the fifth
01:39
day in a row where we've seen somewhere above thirty celsius, which is unheard of for September.
01:46
Through the end of the day on Friday, we're again going to see a bit of mist and murk
01:49
starting to push in from the North Sea, though it probably won't encroach as far inland as
01:53
some recent nights. Otherwise, there will be a few spots of mist and fog around other
01:58
coastal areas. Some showers too coming up from the south down western parts, so perhaps
02:03
southwest England, Wales, Northern Ireland, Western Scotland could see some showers, and
02:06
these could turn heavy, perhaps even with the risk of thunder. Look at those temperatures,
02:10
again, it's not going to drop much. Another warm muggy night, so it could be a tropical
02:15
night for some once more, as some places could stay above twenty celsius.
02:20
Through Saturday itself, and we have this cold front, that front I mentioned earlier,
02:24
starting to push its way into the northwest. So, things will turn cloudier here, it will
02:28
also turn blustery or windy, and we're going to see some rain arriving as well. Otherwise,
02:33
there is the chance of one or two showers breaking out, and these could turn heavy and
02:38
thundery, but most of us are going to avoid these. On the whole, it's going to be dry,
02:43
and there will be plenty of sunshine again, and in the sunshine, temperatures really rising.
02:47
It could be even hotter on Saturday than we've seen so far this week, likely to get into
02:51
the low thirties, perhaps highs of thirty two or thirty three celsius, which would make
02:56
it the hottest day of the year. A quick look towards Sunday then, and more
03:01
changeable weather continuing to push its way in from the northwest, so turning markedly
03:05
cloudier across parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland, and a bit more comfortable, a bit
03:09
cooler here as well. Elsewhere, and there's perhaps a greater chance of some showers
03:14
compared to Saturday, and these could still turn heavy, perhaps even thundery. Still a
03:18
good deal of sunshine though, and once more temperatures rising, again highs in the low
03:22
thirties possible towards the southeast. There's more information on the heat on our
03:26
social media channels, our website and our app, and do keep up to date in case any warnings
03:31
are required because of those thunderstorms. I'll see you later.
