Thanks for joining me for this national weather update.

00:04
never miss a forecast.
00:06
There's plenty going on with the weather at the moment.
00:09
Low pressure up to the northeast and others
00:11
out in the Atlantic squeezing together
00:14
to bring down the northerly air.
00:16
That's why it's turned that much chillier
00:19
and will continue to feel very fresh throughout Tuesday.
00:22
And those northerly winds will continue
00:24
to bring showers down as well.
00:26
So across northern Scotland into north and west Wales,
00:30
parts of Northern Ireland as well.
00:31
The odd one grazing eastern England,
00:33
especially for north Norfolk.
00:35
But much of eastern England, I suspect,
00:37
will be dry for much of the night.
00:39
Now, we've got cold air in place at the time of year
00:42
where nights are now longer than the day.
00:44
So it is going to turn quite cold overnight.
00:46
But there's enough of a breeze which
00:48
mixes the air up to stop the temperatures
00:50
from dipping too low.
00:51
Some pockets of frost are possible,
00:53
but mostly will stay a few degrees above freezing.
00:56
Nevertheless, it will still feel pretty chilly
00:58
with that breeze continuing to blow on Tuesday.
01:01
Generally, a fine start for much of Yorkshire down to Kent.
01:05
Elsewhere, a mixture of some sunshine but also more showers.
01:09
And it looks like it could be quite a wet day for parts
01:11
of northwest England, Liverpool, Manchester.
01:14
Plenty of showers here.
01:15
And those showers at times will feed down to the Midlands.
01:18
By the afternoon, we could see one or two
01:20
developing across East Anglia and the southeast.
01:22
Always showers keeping going in northern Scotland,
01:25
but sheltered through the central belt
01:28
and across southern Scotland.
01:29
So not too many showers here.
01:31
Same goes for Northern Ireland.
01:32
Some sunny spells in the south.
01:34
In the far southwest, though, we are
01:36
looking at clouds spilling in for Devon, Cornwall,
01:38
Pembrokeshire, and a bit of rain likely,
01:40
certainly for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly
01:42
come Tuesday afternoon.
01:44
Temperature-wise, well, pretty chilly first thing
01:47
and struggling up into the low teens at best for most.
01:51
A little higher in the southwest,
01:52
but not feeling any warmer here with a brisk wind
01:55
and the cloud and the rain.
01:56
In fact, that wind, again, is bringing
01:59
a fairly significant wind chill on some of these coasts,
02:01
North Wales, western parts of Scotland,
02:03
and northern Scotland, where the showers will continue
02:06
to be heavy through Tuesday and continue through Tuesday night
02:10
as well.
02:10
The wind's subtly shifting as we head into Wednesday.
02:13
Cloud and rain in the southwest should start to ebb away.
02:16
And again, a chilly but bright start
02:19
on the spine of the country to Wednesday.
02:21
Quite a bit of sunshine here.
02:22
Should be a brighter day for northwest England as well.
02:25
Not as many showers for west Wales and southwest England,
02:28
although still one or two.
02:29
Now, the main focus for wet weather on Wednesday
02:32
is out into the North Sea and drifting
02:34
into eastern parts of England, looking
02:36
in this line of potentially heavy,
02:38
showery rain affecting parts of eastern Scotland
02:40
and eastern England.
02:41
And again, a fairly brisk wind bringing somewhat of a chill.
02:45
Again, temperatures mostly only 13 or 14 Celsius,
02:48
so a touch below average for the time of year.
02:50
Add on that wind on some of those North Sea coasts
02:52
and it will feel an awful lot colder than that.
02:56
That swirl of showers on a Wednesday
02:59
is courtesy of this area of low pressure
03:01
that's been drifting southwards.
03:03
It will continue to fizzle away as we head into Thursday.
03:06
And then eyes out in the Atlantic
03:07
as we start to see a swing in the weather patterns.
03:11
This low pressure promising a spell
03:13
of wet and windy weather to sweep across the country
03:16
from west to east on Friday.
03:18
There's some uncertainty about the details of that.
03:20
But stay up to date through the week.
03:22
And of course, you can always watch our week ahead forecast.
03:25
That'll be available Monday afternoon
03:26
on YouTube and on Facebook.
