Welcome to your national weather update from the Met Office.
00:03
A bit of a messy one out there today.
00:05
Some sunshine, a lot of cloud, a bit of rain here and there,
00:09
but not a huge amount.
00:10
And it's another very warm and humid day across large parts
00:13
of southern and eastern England ahead of this weather front.
00:17
It's a cold front and slowly it is introducing fresher air,
00:22
but it is a slow old process.
00:24
On this weather front, there's also quite a bit of cloud
00:27
and a little bit of rain, but only really a few showers
00:31
extending from the wash down towards Hampshire and Dorset.
00:34
Not a huge amount.
00:36
And many places, of course, in this area would like a bit of rain.
00:39
The far southeast staying dry and mostly sunny.
00:42
Some good spirals of sunshine developing over north Wales
00:45
and northeast England.
00:46
Further north, we've got quite a lot of cloud again
00:49
with a few showers here and there,
00:51
but we'll also see some blue sky across northern Scotland.
00:53
Quite a fresh wind blowing across the far northeast.
00:56
Temperatures here in the mid-teens.
00:58
But further south, it is another very warm and humid day
01:02
with some sunshine across east Anglia and the southeast.
01:05
We could get up to 28 or 29 Celsius.
01:08
It will turn somewhat fresher here overnight.
01:11
That weather front tends to drift through, not bringing much rain,
01:15
but introducing cooler air.
01:17
Further north, there'll be some heavier rain moving into parts
01:19
of Northern Ireland for a time through the evening
01:21
and then later in the night across parts of eastern Scotland.
01:24
We could see some heavy bursts of rain as well.
01:27
A scattering of showers coming into northwest England
01:29
and maybe north Wales by dawn.
01:31
As I said, a cooler night.
01:33
Still quite warm and humid, certainly this evening,
01:35
across east Anglia and the southeast.
01:37
But by dawn, temperatures in the low to mid-teens foremost
01:42
and a little cooler across Scotland and Northern Ireland.
01:44
Quite a wet start, though, for the northeast of Scotland.
01:47
Some heavy bursts of rain here for a time.
01:49
A scattering of showers over northwest England
01:52
and we'll see more showers developing over western Scotland
01:55
and some for Northern Ireland through the day.
01:57
The odd one may trickle down towards the Midlands,
01:59
but again, much of the south Midlands, south Wales,
02:02
southern England and east Anglia will have another dry day
02:05
with probably a bit more sunshine compared to today.
02:08
But it won't be as warm, it won't be as humid,
02:10
it won't be as sticky, a more comfortable day,
02:13
a fresher feel.
02:14
Could easily still get into the mid-20s,
02:16
but temperatures generally high teens, low 20s
02:19
and as I say, a much fresher feel.
02:21
Still a few showers keeping going over the northern half of Scotland
02:24
during Thursday evening.
02:25
Otherwise, most places looking dry and fine with sunny spells.
02:29
Perhaps just a few more showers drifting back into Northern Ireland
02:32
as we head into Friday morning.
02:34
But the outlook is for high pressure to amble its way back in.
02:39
These weather fronts may bring a bit of patchy rain
02:41
to the northwest during the weekend.
02:43
But overall, this high pressure is set to bring a lot more dry weather
02:46
through Friday and the weekend and plenty more sunshine as well.
02:49
More details on that and our longer-range 10-day trend forecast
02:53
that'll be available on YouTube and Facebook by Wednesday afternoon.
