00:00Welcome to your national weather update from the Met Office.

00:03A bit of a messy one out there today.

00:05Some sunshine, a lot of cloud, a bit of rain here and there,

00:09but not a huge amount.

00:10And it's another very warm and humid day across large parts

00:13of southern and eastern England ahead of this weather front.

00:17It's a cold front and slowly it is introducing fresher air,

00:22but it is a slow old process.

00:24On this weather front, there's also quite a bit of cloud

00:27and a little bit of rain, but only really a few showers

00:31extending from the wash down towards Hampshire and Dorset.

00:34Not a huge amount.

00:36And many places, of course, in this area would like a bit of rain.

00:39The far southeast staying dry and mostly sunny.

00:42Some good spirals of sunshine developing over north Wales

00:45and northeast England.

00:46Further north, we've got quite a lot of cloud again

00:49with a few showers here and there,

00:51but we'll also see some blue sky across northern Scotland.

00:53Quite a fresh wind blowing across the far northeast.

00:56Temperatures here in the mid-teens.

00:58But further south, it is another very warm and humid day

01:02with some sunshine across east Anglia and the southeast.

01:05We could get up to 28 or 29 Celsius.

01:08It will turn somewhat fresher here overnight.

01:11That weather front tends to drift through, not bringing much rain,

01:15but introducing cooler air.

01:17Further north, there'll be some heavier rain moving into parts

01:19of Northern Ireland for a time through the evening

01:21and then later in the night across parts of eastern Scotland.

01:24We could see some heavy bursts of rain as well.

01:27A scattering of showers coming into northwest England

01:29and maybe north Wales by dawn.

01:31As I said, a cooler night.

01:33Still quite warm and humid, certainly this evening,

01:35across east Anglia and the southeast.

01:37But by dawn, temperatures in the low to mid-teens foremost

01:42and a little cooler across Scotland and Northern Ireland.

01:44Quite a wet start, though, for the northeast of Scotland.

01:47Some heavy bursts of rain here for a time.

01:49A scattering of showers over northwest England

01:52and we'll see more showers developing over western Scotland

01:55and some for Northern Ireland through the day.

01:57The odd one may trickle down towards the Midlands,

01:59but again, much of the south Midlands, south Wales,

02:02southern England and east Anglia will have another dry day

02:05with probably a bit more sunshine compared to today.

02:08But it won't be as warm, it won't be as humid,

02:10it won't be as sticky, a more comfortable day,

02:13a fresher feel.

02:14Could easily still get into the mid-20s,

02:16but temperatures generally high teens, low 20s

02:19and as I say, a much fresher feel.

02:21Still a few showers keeping going over the northern half of Scotland

02:24during Thursday evening.

02:25Otherwise, most places looking dry and fine with sunny spells.

02:29Perhaps just a few more showers drifting back into Northern Ireland

02:32as we head into Friday morning.

02:34But the outlook is for high pressure to amble its way back in.

02:39These weather fronts may bring a bit of patchy rain

02:41to the northwest during the weekend.

02:43But overall, this high pressure is set to bring a lot more dry weather

02:46through Friday and the weekend and plenty more sunshine as well.
