00:07
This weekend promises a lot of fine weather across the UK,
00:10
but we are still looking at some wet weather
00:12
through Friday night and Saturday morning
00:14
across the far southeast, where the Met Office have
00:17
a yellow warning in place.
00:18
We're concerned the buildup of rain
00:20
here with some heavy bursts could
00:22
cause a bit of disruption.
00:23
Elsewhere, one or two scattered showers, but for most places,
00:26
it's a dry night and a clear night and a bit of a chilly one
00:29
as well, with temperatures starting the weekend down
00:31
four or five degrees even in towns and cities,
00:33
rural parts across northern England, Scotland,
00:36
and Northern Ireland may not be too far from freezing.
00:38
So a fresh start for sure, but for many,
00:42
it'll be a blue sky start to the weekend.
00:44
One or two showers drifting into eastern England, still
00:46
the potential for some heavy rain
00:48
across the far southeast of England
00:50
should be fading out through the day.
00:52
Brisk wind here and a lot of cloud
00:54
will make it feel quite cool.
00:55
Could you see a few more showers developing
00:57
across parts of the Midlands and Wales,
00:59
but I suspect they'll be pretty well scattered
01:01
and most places won't see the showers staying largely dry.
01:05
And certainly for most of Scotland and Northern Ireland,
01:07
a fine Saturday with spells of sunshine.
01:09
And although it starts pretty chilly by the afternoon,
01:12
we're up to 15, 16, maybe 17 degrees Celsius.
01:15
So feeling pleasant enough in that September sunshine.
01:19
Quite quickly, though, on Saturday evening,
01:21
if you're heading out, temperatures
01:22
will start to drop.
01:23
Any showers should fade away fairly quickly.
01:26
So generally, it's a dry night with clear spells,
01:28
which means, again, it will turn fairly cold
01:32
come Sunday morning.
01:33
Temperatures, again, widely down into single figures.
01:36
But again, most places will have a sunny start to Sunday.
01:40
We're looking at one or two showers,
01:42
perhaps still grazing parts of East Anglia,
01:44
maybe still across parts of Kent, perhaps West Wales,
01:48
and Cornwall as well.
01:49
But for most places, Sunday's dry and bright
01:51
until the cloud thickens through the morning in Western Scotland
01:54
with a bit of patchy rain here, followed
01:57
by a band of heavier rain and strengthening winds
02:00
coming into the Highlands and the Western Isles
02:02
and the Northern Isles come Sunday afternoon.
02:05
Away from that, though, yes, the sunshine
02:06
may turn hazy in the West.
02:08
But generally, it's another dry and bright day on Sunday.
02:11
And after another chilly start, we're up to 15, 16,
02:14
17 degrees Celsius.
02:16
Feeling pleasant enough, again, in the September sunshine.
02:19
But it is going to turn cooler as that wind whips up
02:22
in the Northwest and the rain arrives.
02:24
That is, as you might imagine, a weather front.
02:27
And it will bring a spell of rain
02:28
swinging across the country on Sunday night.
02:31
And notice the isobar squeezing together.
02:34
So it's going to get windy, could get very windy
02:36
in the far north, gusty conditions.
02:38
And that weather front also switching the winds around,
02:42
bringing down northerly winds and bringing down colder air
02:46
as we head into Monday.
02:47
So turning colder for Monday with a brisk wind
02:50
and a fairly significant wind chill.
02:53
So a big change for Monday.
02:54
Keep up to date with developments
02:56
as we go through the weekend by following the Met Office
03:00
across social media.
