Hello. Welcome along to your latest update from the Met Office. Plenty more sunshine
00:05
around across much of the country today. It is quite windy across parts of the north and
00:09
the winds will pick up again, especially across Shetland overnight tonight. And it's not completely
00:15
dry. We do have somewhat wet weather in western Scotland. This big, long line of cloud is
00:20
a cold front tied to a deep area of low pressure that passed over Iceland. It's continuing
00:26
to drift away from the UK. But this weather front is slowly tracking southwards and it's
00:31
already providing some pretty wet conditions across western Scotland. And the weather front
00:36
is kind of stagnating, becoming pretty slow moving. So it'll stay fairly wet. But that
00:42
rain may not get to Glasgow until the middle of the afternoon. We'll see some patchy rain
00:47
trickling into the north coast of Northern Ireland as well. And actually in the far north,
00:51
it should brighten up, although it will stay pretty gusty. Patchy rain getting to Aberdeenshire
00:55
as well, but much of southern Scotland and certainly most of England and Wales having
00:59
another fine day with September sunshine and morning mist and fog continuing to clear away
01:05
and temperatures responding to that sunshine getting up into the low 20s, 22, maybe 23
01:11
likely across parts of the southeast. Obviously, behind that weather front, colder air. So
01:15
it won't be as warm here. And before the cloud and rain arrives, Glasgow and Aberdeen could
01:19
get up to 17 or 18. But it will turn damp in Glasgow and Aberdeen and Edinburgh through
01:24
this evening. Some patchy rain trickling across Northern Ireland as well. As it heads into
01:28
northern England, north Wales, the rain band tends to fizzle out and then further outbreaks
01:34
of rain come into the Highlands and the Western Isles. And it's really overnight that the
01:37
winds will pick up once more, especially over the northern isles and for Shetland, gusts
01:41
of 50 to 60, possibly even 65 miles an hour. Further south, the winds are a bit stronger
01:47
than last night, but still light enough in the far south for a few mist and fog patches
01:52
to form. And temperatures also will drop down once more to single figures here. But it does
01:57
mean a fine sunny start because much of the south, apart from a few patches of mist and
02:01
fog, which will clear. But a different day for south Wales, certainly more cloud in the
02:05
morning with some outbreaks of rain and that damp weather will trickle into parts of southwest
02:10
England during the day as well. So not as sunny here. Again, western Scotland looking
02:14
cloudy with some outbreaks of rain. But large parts of the country will again be dry and
02:19
bright on Thursday with some sunny spells. Quite breezy across the north. Those very
02:24
strong winds overnight gradually easing through the day across the northern isles. Temperatures
02:29
again responding to a bit of September sunshine getting into the low 20s. Again, 22, 23 is
02:34
possible. Cooler further north, though, where we've got more cloud and certainly cooler
02:38
where the outbreaks of rain in western Scotland. That rain perhaps pepping up a little bit
02:42
through Thursday evening and spreading to more eastern and southern parts of Scotland
02:46
for a time. But again, for the south, most places staying dry. And although there'll
02:50
be some cloudy zones and some patchy, showery rain on Friday and Saturday, more particularly
02:55
in the west, many places will stay dry with some more September sunshine and staying pretty
03:01
warm as well. Some uncertainty about Sunday when there could be some showers around. More
03:06
details on that. Join me later on for a 10 day trend that'll be available on Facebook
03:11
and YouTube. And to make sure you're following us across all of social media.
03:16
Thanks.
