Hello. Welcome to your national weather updates.
00:03
A bank holiday weekend for much of the UK and for most places.
00:07
It's going to be dry as well.
00:09
It was far from dry yesterday across the east.
00:11
That line of cloud that brought the heavy rain has cleared away
00:14
and a bit of a switch around today with most of the showers further west.
00:19
Some scattered showers across Wales and one or two heavy ones
00:22
likely in southwest Scotland this afternoon.
00:25
Elsewhere, many places will be dry.
00:27
Maybe the odd shower for southwest England, eastern parts of Northern Ireland.
00:30
Some sunny spells in the far northwest and for much of central and eastern England.
00:34
It's a much brighter day than yesterday with some decent spells of sunshine
00:38
and temperatures getting into the low to maybe mid-20s.
00:42
Cooler conditions across southwest Scotland.
00:45
Elsewhere, we've got the thicker cloud across parts of Wales.
00:47
Temperatures only really in the high teens.
00:50
As we go through this evening, it'll turn fairly fresh fairly quickly, I suspect.
00:54
We're still going to have a few showers around across Wales and southwest Scotland.
00:58
They'll take a while before they fade away.
01:00
Some may keep going overnight across northwest England.
01:03
But for most, it'll be a dry night.
01:05
Could turn a bit misty and murky across southeast England and east Anglia.
01:08
Any mist and fog will clear pretty quickly on Saturday morning.
01:11
But just to bear that in mind if you're heading away
01:14
for the bank holiday weekend early on on Saturday.
01:17
Temperature-wise, a pretty comfortable night.
01:20
Certainly a lot less humid than it was earlier in the week.
01:23
Temperatures across western Scotland through northern Ireland well down into single figures.
01:27
A bright fresh start here with some decent spells of sunshine.
01:31
As I said, some mist and fog across east Anglia and the southeast early on.
01:34
That will clear away.
01:36
Now, it's not completely dry on Saturday.
01:38
We are looking at a few showers again, particularly over parts of northern England.
01:42
Maybe one or two over the Midlands, Wales and perhaps even southern England.
01:46
But I think here, few and far between.
01:48
For the vast majority, it will be dry.
01:50
There is thickening cloud coming into the northwest,
01:52
so turning a bit grey over the Western Isles, the north coast of northern Ireland.
01:55
Perhaps seeing a little drizzle later on.
01:57
But for a good chunk of the country, it's dry, it's bright.
02:01
Good spells of sunshine and feeling pretty warm as well
02:04
with temperatures mostly into the low to mid-20s across the south.
02:09
As we head through Saturday evening, a bit more of that thick cloud and rain
02:13
will just trickle into the northwest of Scotland.
02:16
And again, perhaps affecting northern parts of northern Ireland.
02:19
Still maybe one or two showers over northern England.
02:21
But for most, it will be dry and clear.
02:23
Notice the breeze starting to pick up a little bit around some of the coast.
02:26
That will be a feature of the weather, more particularly through Sunday and Monday.
02:30
High pressure is moving in.
02:32
It's building in from the north, however.
02:35
And that means, although Sunday will be pretty warm, by the time we get to Monday,
02:39
it will be turning a little fresher, particularly on these eastern coasts.
02:42
And the isobar squeezing together along the south coast
02:45
means here it will get quite gusty as well on Sunday and Monday.
02:50
So high pressure is moving in.
02:52
A lot of fine weather this weekend.
02:54
Most places will be dry and bright with sunny spells.
02:57
But just notice that some of the coasts will be a little bit windy, especially by Monday.
03:02
More details on all of that, of course, if you follow us right across social media.
