Hello, we are likely to see changes in our weather as we go into next week, but for the
00:05
time being, it is still all about the extreme heat. Our amber weather warning is in place
00:11
until the end of Sunday, covering large parts of England and East Wales. In this zone for
00:17
the next couple of days, temperatures are likely to exceed 30 degrees Celsius quite
00:21
widely and in some spots get up to 35 or 36 Celsius, coupled with very warm nights. Longevity
00:28
of this hot speller is likely to cause some health issues. That's why we have that amber
00:33
warning in place. Through Thursday evening, it's dry and clear for the vast majority.
00:39
Good for looking at the full moon overnight. The main exception will be northern Scotland,
00:43
where there will be a lot of cloud and some patchy rain that will continue on and off
00:47
here. Elsewhere, as I said, dry and clear, perhaps turning a little misty once more across
00:51
parts of eastern England. Temperatures are really going to vary actually. See the hints
00:55
of bluey green on the charts through some sheltered glens across Scotland with the clear
01:00
skies. We could dip well down into single figures, but certainly elsewhere, it's going
01:05
to be a pretty warm night. Many urban areas struggling to drop below about 15 or 16 Celsius,
01:11
so a fairly difficult night for sleeping once more. And another hot and sunny day to come
01:15
on Friday. Any early morning mist and fog should clear away, but there's always the
01:20
chance of a little bit more of it just drifting onto the coasts as we go through the day.
01:25
Again, northern Scotland will see a lot of clouds, but I think the rain tending to fizzle
01:30
out here and generally a brighter day across the Western Isles and certainly across the
01:33
Highlands. It should be a warmer day with a bit more sunshine with just the likelihood
01:38
of a bit more clouds on the east coast. It will be a little bit cooler here for sure.
01:44
Temperatures on the beaches, for example, may stay in the teens. We don't have to come
01:47
too far inland before we see those temperatures up into the 20s and certainly further south.
01:52
It'll be hotter on Friday, quite widely in this zone from the Midlands down to central
01:57
southern England across into southeast Wales into the mid 30s, 35, 36 is possible. Wiltshire,
02:04
Gloucestershire down towards Somerset. So another hot one on Friday, another balmy summer's
02:10
evening on Friday night. Again, though, we will see a little bit of this mist and low
02:15
cloud and perhaps a bit more of it just pushing a little further inland as we head into the
02:19
weekend. Still got that raggedy old weather front bringing cloud and patchy rain across
02:24
the Northern Isles and the Western Isles. But for the vast majority, Saturday is another
02:28
blue sky day and another one where we'll be watching the mercury rise again with this
02:34
mist and low cloud half fret across parts of the east coast. Temperatures here will
02:40
be a little bit lower and again with more cloud in northern Scotland, temperatures suppressed
02:44
in Shetland. But the Western Isles, we could get up to 20 Celsius and certainly elsewhere
02:49
another one where temperatures will be in the mid to high 20s across northern Britain,
02:54
away from the east coast and further south. Look at that again, 34, 35, 36 is again highly
03:00
likely again. That is unusual. It's not every year we get to 36 Celsius. The number of days
03:06
where we're seeing these temperatures, as I say, just building up with those high nighttime
03:10
temperatures that are likely to cause some problems. Sunday's temperatures maybe not
03:14
as high. We're expecting a bit more cloud around. And again, some of the beaches will
03:18
be a little cooler, but certainly through the heart of the country, 33 to 35 degrees
03:23
is highly likely. So again, just that's why we've got that amber weather warning in place.
03:29
The longevity of this hot spell is unusual as well as the temperatures being exceptionally
03:34
high. As for the outlook, as I hinted at the start, potential for a bit of a change. The
03:40
high pressure that's been dominating just starting to drift away, allowing that easterly
03:43
breeze to keep parts of the North Sea a little cooler. But then eyes down to the south. Hotter
03:48
air is drifting northwards over the next couple of days. But this low pressure system may
03:53
drift further northwards through Sunday, introducing more clouds and the potential for some showers
03:59
on Sunday. But a greater risk, certainly, risk is the wrong word, a greater chance of
04:04
seeing some showers as we head into Monday. Some welcome rain, but it's likely to be hit
04:09
and miss and in the form of showers. For more details on that, stay tuned. But we are
04:13
expecting a change as we go into next week with a much greater likelihood of seeing some
04:18
rainfall around. As I said, for more details on that, stay tuned. For more information
04:23
on that weather warning, check out the app or our website.
