Hello there.
00:01
It's felt a little cool across eastern coast this afternoon, but is it going to turn any
00:05
warmer over the weekend and is it going to stay dry?
00:08
Well, it's certainly not going to be a dry end to the week across Northern Ireland.
00:13
This frontal system moving in from the west and it stalls quite a lot, which means quite
00:17
a wet end to the week across Northern Ireland.
00:19
Later into Friday through into Saturday, it eventually tries to edge its way eastwards,
00:24
perhaps just bringing in some outbreaks of rain towards western parts of Scotland, parts
00:28
of Wales and parts of the south west.
00:30
So that means it's going to be quite a damp start in these areas, quite blustery at times
00:35
too, perhaps the odd heavier outbreak of rain, particularly across any high ground, but it
00:39
should brighten up nicely across Northern Ireland through the morning, there are perhaps some
00:43
fog patches here during the very early hours and any rain will eventually fizzle away, turning
00:48
more showery in nature by the time we reach the afternoon, though the odd shower could
00:52
be quite heavy, perhaps even the odd rumble of thunder, particularly across Scotland,
00:56
maybe even across the far south, but many areas should see a largely dry day on Saturday.
01:02
Some showers around, yes, particularly across the far north and far south, but many places
01:06
will see a dry day with some sunnier outbreaks.
01:10
The best of the temperatures are going to be across the far south and southeast, highs
01:13
of 18 degrees here and still a little bit cooler around eastern coasts, but a degree
01:17
or two up compared to Friday.
01:20
Now through into the evening, we eventually say goodbye to this frontal system as it fizzles
01:25
away, drifting its way eastwards and then high pressure largely building across the southern
01:30
half of the UK.
01:31
But notice across the far northwest, a few more isobars on the chart here, so it's starting
01:36
to turn a little bit blustery and also some frontal systems moving through.
01:40
So once again, more cloud here across the very far northwest and some outbreaks of rain, still
01:45
could be blustery, still could be a little bit heavy.
01:48
But across the southern half of the UK, it should be a largely clear and bright start.
01:52
Still once again, perhaps some mist and fog patches in places, these clearing quite quickly
01:56
through the morning, leaving a largely dry day ahead, particularly across central and
02:01
southern areas and feeling very warm in that sunshine too, starting to creep into the low
02:05
20s across the very far southeast.
02:07
And if you are taking part in the London Marathon or even the Manchester Marathon, it should remain
02:12
largely dry, though it's going to be quite warm, so perhaps some extra water needed and the
02:16
very best of luck if you are taking part.
02:18
But once again across the very far north of Scotland, still rather blustery here, any rain
02:22
becoming confined to the very far north of Scotland, Shetley in Auckland, for example,
02:27
seeing quite a wet afternoon, but much drier across Northern Ireland, though it could be
02:31
quite cloudy here at times.
02:34
Now temperatures are on the up day by day.
02:36
This is temperatures compared to average, so we can see on Saturday most areas are going to
02:41
be around average, perhaps some localised areas just a touch above or a touch below.
02:46
But on Sunday, starting to see those temperatures creep up, becoming higher than average, particularly
02:51
around Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and parts of central England and parts of the southeast
02:58
as well.
02:59
And then as we head through into Monday, once again, quite a widespread area, seeing above
03:03
average temperatures, perhaps more than 10 degrees above average in some places.
03:07
So starting to feel very warm across the far south and southeast in particular, and that's
03:12
all because high pressure clings on, giving us that southerly flow of air, so a warmer
03:16
flow of air for many areas.
03:17
But notice in the north, still some frontal systems edging in at times, so more cloud and
03:23
more rain here possible.
03:25
As we head through into the middle part of the week, there's a bit more uncertainty as
03:28
to whether the high pressure will stick around, or if we introduce a more westerly flow against
03:32
some more frontal systems, more cloud and more rain.
03:36

03:41
Bye-bye.
