Hello there. Well, it's a calmer weekend ahead, particularly if you compare it to last weekend.
00:06
But during the week it's been awfully grey and drab at times. So let's see if there's
00:10
any brighter weather on its way for the weekend. So we'll start off then with the bigger picture
00:14
where we have a cold front that's slowly going to sink its way towards the southeast of the
00:18
country during the early hours of Saturday. And then we've got another frontal system
00:22
moving its way into the far northwest later Saturday and into Sunday. And then it's high
00:27
pressure generally dominating towards the south of the country. And as we find ourselves
00:31
on that northern flank, that's creating a squeeze in the Isobars. So a blustery second
00:35
half to the weekend, particularly across the far north of Scotland, where once again another
00:40
frontal system moves into the far north. So it's here where they've really drawn the short
00:44
straw in terms of any rainfall. But the good news is for the second half of the weekend,
00:48
if I just rewind the clock, it is bringing in some milder air. So on Sunday, if you're
00:53
not a fan of the chillier weather, Sunday looks like to be the milder day out of the
00:57
weekend. Before we get on to that, though, let's take a look at the details for Saturday.
01:02
So clouds, some outbreaks of rain and drizzle generally clearing the far southeast during
01:06
the early morning and then plenty of dry and bright weather around brighter than what it's
01:11
been during the week. We can't rule out a few showers, particularly around coastal areas.
01:15
And then it's later on when we start to see a bit of a change across the far northwest
01:19
outbreaks of rain moving in here for western parts of Scotland, perhaps later on across
01:23
western parts of Northern Ireland and turning quite blustery behind these outbreaks of rain
01:28
to temperatures around about average for the time of year, likely to see highs around seven
01:33
to eight Celsius, mainly across the south. Then through into the evening, we'll see more
01:40
and more of this cloud slowly spill its way across parts of England and Wales, some rain
01:44
and drizzle at times, though it will generally fizzle out by the time we reach the morning,
01:48
mainly becoming confined to western hills and to the far north of the still those outbreaks
01:53
of rain continuing across the far west of Scotland. So some quite persistent rain here,
01:57
but largely dry across the far south and southeast. So temperatures generally are staying above
02:02
freezing under those cloudier skies, but could be a little bit chillier towards the far south
02:07
as we head through into Sunday morning, perhaps some spots of frost here if we see any of
02:11
those prolonged clear spells. Now, as we head into Sunday, we are expecting some quite blustery
02:17
weather, particularly across the far north of Scotland, where we see these pink colours.
02:22
So a risk even in inland areas, we could see gusts between 40 to 50 miles per hour. But
02:26
across the far north, these gusts could reach up to 60 miles per hour. So do keep an eye
02:30
on our website for any warnings for those as we may see some wind warnings just across
02:34
the far north of Scotland. And in general, for all, it is going to be a blustery day
02:38
as we head into Saturday. But weather wise, perhaps a bit more cloud around for the second
02:43
half of the weekend. Still some rain and drizzle, though this mainly confined to western
02:48
hilly areas. The best of the brightness, the best of the brightness, so it's just going
02:51
to be to the east of any high ground. But across the far northwest, once again, we are
02:56
going to see those more persistent outbreaks of rain. This could be heavy at times, particularly
03:00
across the far north, and that's where it's going to be particularly blustery through
03:03
the day. So as we head through into Monday here, we've got 24 hour rainfall totals, and
03:08
this just picks up the far northwest where we see frontal system after frontal systems.
03:12
So that's really going to pep up the rainfall totals we could see between just well above
03:17
25 millimetres here. But by the time we get to Tuesday, this could increase even more.
03:22
So once again, a chance we could see some rain warnings across the far northwest of
03:25
Scotland. So once again, keep an eye on our website for those. In terms of temperatures,
03:29
though, as I say, it is bringing in some milder air, so widely above average for the time
03:34
of year. Highs of around 12 to 13 Celsius, particularly to the east of any high ground.
03:40
So that's it from me then. I hope you have a lovely weekend. Bye bye for now.
