After a very wet week across parts of the south, the weekends at least here
00:05
does look a lot drier. It'll be a bit of a chilly start to the weekend as well
00:09
but we could see more wet weather by Sunday night. All the heavy rain through
00:13
this week has been caused by this area of low pressure scooting away during
00:17
Friday and then opening the door to the winds coming down from the north
00:22
bringing with it Arctic air. So yes it is gonna feel pretty chilly first thing on
00:26
Saturday morning. That cold air kind of gets cut off by this weekish weather
00:31
front that will bring some wet weather to northwest Scotland. But in the south
00:34
this is an area of high pressure and that will at least bring much of the
00:40
south a dry day on Saturday and many will stay dry on Sunday as well. But
00:44
behind me there are weather systems lurking. More on those in just a moment.
00:48
First of all let's get through Saturday and we are gonna start pretty chilly.
00:52
Some pockets of frost in rural parts of the south and certainly frost likely
00:57
across parts of northern England and Scotland along with Northern Ireland.
01:00
Temperatures in urban areas holding up at 3, 4, 5 degrees above freezing but
01:05
certainly you'll feel that freshness on Saturday morning. Many will start the
01:09
weekend with some sunshine and many will stay fine and bright across central and
01:13
eastern England throughout the day. One or two showers maybe early on along the
01:17
north Norfolk coast and there will certainly be showers coming into western
01:21
Scotland. Showers on and off through the day over northwest England and through
01:25
parts of Wales. We may by the end of the day see one or two cropping up over the
01:28
Midlands, possibly the odd one further south too. But I suspect much of
01:33
southern England, much of eastern England, a good part of eastern Scotland will
01:36
stay dry throughout the day. There'll be some sunny spells as well but it's gonna
01:40
be cold air that we're sitting in. So yes temperatures starting off well down
01:44
into single figures and struggling even with a bit of sunshine to get into the
01:48
mid-teens. Temperatures may not get above 9 or 10 in northwest Scotland
01:53
where the outbreaks of rain will continue well into the evening from this
01:56
little set of weather fronts. And then all eyes out in the Atlantic. I pointed
02:00
out this weather system earlier it's chugging towards us as we go through
02:04
Saturday night and into Sunday. The ice are squeezing together as well. Still a
02:09
bit of uncertainty about its exact progress but it is likely to bring some
02:13
rain quite early on into the far southwest of England. Still a few showers
02:17
over northern Scotland but actually for a good chunk of the country most of
02:20
Sunday will be dry and fine. But the cloud will steadily be increasing as
02:24
this weather system approaches turning wet over Devon, Cornwall, West Wales and
02:28
eventually Northern Ireland come the afternoon. The winds also starting to
02:32
pick up across the southwest by the end of the day. Elsewhere the breeze
02:36
spinning up from the south will tend to strengthen a little bit but it will be a
02:40
slightly milder day. I suspect temperatures 14, 15 maybe 16 Celsius
02:44
across the south. Still fairly chilly compared to what we've been used to and
02:49
certainly not feeling very pleasant come the afternoon with this wind and rain.
02:53
That system needs watching as it comes in on Sunday night and into Monday after
02:57
all the heavy rain that we've seen recently. So do keep up to date with the
03:01
forecast throughout this weekend and best way to do this to do this if you're
