00:00 Hello and welcome to your weekend weather forecast brought to you by the Met Office.
00:05 So we're heading into the second weekend of June, the second weekend of meteorological
00:11 summer, but still unsettled weather continues, particularly across the northern half of the
00:15 UK, where low pressure is still dominating the picture. High pressure is remaining out
00:21 to the west and that will bring some slightly more settled conditions across some southern
00:25 parts of the UK throughout the weekend. But let's have a look at the detail for Saturday.
00:30 So that occluded front there on Saturday morning as it sat across central parts of England
00:34 and Wales, bringing some increased cloud cover here, but also some outbreaks of rain. That
00:40 will sink its way southeastwards as we go throughout the day on Saturday, and the showers
00:44 will generally fizzle out as it makes its way southeastwards, but bringing a little
00:48 bit more cloud for the south coast as we go into Saturday afternoon. Now looking further
00:53 north, we're seeing a continuation of the frequent heavy and blustery showers here that
00:58 we've seen for much of the second half of the week, and they could contain some hail
01:02 and maybe the odd rumble of thunder as well. There will be some decent sunny spells, though,
01:07 particularly across the central slice of the UK, and it's here that we'll see the highest
01:11 temperatures through Saturday. We could even see temperatures into the low 20s, but across
01:16 northern parts, particularly across Scotland, temperatures will only just be about around
01:21 average, so around 14, maybe locally 15 on Saturday. But this brisk wind is going to
01:27 make things feel even chillier here. Now, zooming back out again to have a look at the
01:32 bigger picture for Sunday. High pressure is still going to remain out to the west, but
01:35 low pressure will make its way slightly further east as we go into Sunday, and that means
01:41 that our winds are going to come from a more northerly direction, kind of getting rid of
01:45 some of that westerly components while wind that we've had over the last few days. And
01:49 this is going to mean that showers are going to make their way a bit more further south
01:53 than what we've seen of late. So looking at the detail for Sunday, then again, quite a
01:58 cloudy start across the north. Best of any clearer spells in this morning will be further
02:02 south, but showers continuing to make their way further south throughout the day on Sunday,
02:08 affecting northern parts of England, Northern Ireland and maybe even reaching as far south
02:12 as East Anglia by the latter parts of Sunday. Now, the heaviest and most frequent showers
02:17 will still be across northern parts of Scotland, where we could still see the odd thunderstorm,
02:23 a bit of hail in some of those showers as well. Best of any dry weather and some sunny
02:28 spells will be for western areas throughout the day on Sunday, but temperatures generally
02:34 a degree or so down on what we're expecting for Saturday. So highs between 16 and 18 across
02:40 the south, 13 to 14 in the north. Thank you for listening and keep up to date with the
02:46 latest weather forecasts. Do check out our social media and I'll see you again soon.
