30 July - National weather forecast presented by Clare Nasir
Transcript
00:00Hello there and a very good morning to you on this Wednesday morning which is cloudy
00:04for most. Some brighter breaks coming through and there will be some damp weather coming
00:08across towards the west as we head through the next 12 hours or so. But generally speaking
00:14we'll see some sunshine as well. The heat is gradually waning across the southeast of
00:19Europe which is good news after the extreme heat wave we've seen here. High pressure extends
00:24across most of the country through Thursday as well as Friday but we could see some sharp
00:28showers on Thursday across more central and southern areas as well as the east.
00:32Friday looks like it's going to be a fine day with some brighter skies if not some
00:37sunshine. This morning if you're stepping out watch out for low clouds across the
00:41Highlands particularly Western Highlands and one or two patches of rain. Some dry
00:45skies to start the day across Northern Ireland, Northern England as well. A
00:48little showery rain running in across Wales as well as the Midlands. Either side
00:52though the cloud is broken allowing for some brighter weather to come through if
00:57not some sunshine. So it's quite a messy picture this morning and it continues to be that way
01:02as we head through the morning and into the afternoon. So through the morning you can see
01:06where we're seeing some wet weather. Never really amounting to very much but showers
01:10will develop particularly across England as we head through the day. Some showers also
01:15for eastern parts of Scotland whereas further west after a dry start if not with some brighter
01:20weather we'll see more cloud. And also some patchy rain, some showery bursts across Northern
01:24Ireland. Eventually some damp weather across the western side of Scotland. Elsewhere some
01:29brighter weather to end the day. Some sunshine feeling warm in that sunshine. Just a light
01:33breeze. Temperatures climbing very nicely into the twenties. So that's the picture through
01:38this afternoon. Through this evening some late sunshine to end the day particularly across
01:44the Midlands, Wales, up towards Northern England. Now hang on to more clouds with a few showers
01:48first thing this evening across eastern counties but they will clear. At the same time this feature here brings with it more
01:54clouds and also some outbreaks of rain. The rain slides down towards Wales, west country, central
01:59and southern England into Thursday morning. And we'll see some damp weather also across the north
02:03and the west of Scotland on Thursday with showers developing across eastern counties. Some sharp
02:08showers with the risk of thunder likely through the afternoon across central and southern parts of
02:13England and Wales. So we could see some impactful weather here if you catch a heavy downpour particularly
02:18if you're travelling. A similar situation across this zone here towards the northeast. In between some brighter
02:24weather if not some sunshine more cloud just feeding in across Northern Ireland a few light showers.
02:29So again quite a messy picture with a mix of clouds and sunshine and some parts seeing some heavy
02:34showers just pushing through. Now through Thursday evening and overnight those showers will tend to fade
02:40away. Before that though look at these temperatures warm if not humid towards the south very warm across the
02:46southeast and where you catch some sunshine across the central about 21 degrees Celsius. 24 though for
02:52southern parts of Wales. So through Friday as I said things do tend to settle down as that high
02:58pressure influences our weather. But still some showers anywhere from the East Midlands, East Anglia
03:03down towards the southeast. Elsewhere mix of clouds and sunshine and feeling warm in those brighter
03:08breaks. A fine day on Saturday all round really it's mostly dry but turning showery from the north on
03:15Sunday. That showery rain pushes down towards Northern England as well as North Wales. To the south of that we'll see
03:20some fine and dry weather. I'll see you again soon.
