03 June - National weather forecast presented by Clare Nasir
Transcript
00:00Hello there, welcome to your Tuesday evening weather update from the Met Office.
00:05The beginning of June has started showery and that's likely to continue right the way through the rest of this week and in fact into the weekend.
00:12Low pressure sits towards the north of Scotland. A real squeeze on the isobars into Wednesday here.
00:17Blustery wind and then more cloud and rain moves in across England and Wales as we head through Thursday.
00:23The winds ease for a time across Scotland but the air is fresh and in fact into the weekend further clusters of showers which could merge to form longer spells of rain.
00:32So yes, a lot of wet weather around through the next few days but also some late sunshine to end the day today.
00:38Some showers continue particularly across more northern and western areas and they're like to be heavy with the odd rumble of thunder and in fact that sets the scene for tomorrow.
00:46But some clearer skies for Wales, England particularly towards more eastern areas and fewer showers across eastern parts of Scotland into the early hours of tomorrow morning.
00:55But a bit of a cool start here and temperatures possibly dipping down to mid-single figures across the valleys of Wales as we head through the first part of Wednesday morning.
01:04But Wednesday dawns bright across much of England and Wales, a few residual showers around but mostly dry with some sunshine.
01:12Showery bursts continue to move in across northern Ireland as well as the central belt of Scotland, western Scotland, seeing frequent showers here, perhaps some brighter skies towards the northeast of Scotland.
01:23But these winds will be a key feature of the weather as we head through Wednesday and certainly driving those showers towards Orkney as well as Shetland as we head through the morning.
01:32So through the morning, bright with some sunshine across more southern and eastern areas but the cloud will build and we will see a scattering of showers as we head through the afternoon.
01:40These showers will be frequent across western Scotland and Northern Ireland, running in across northern parts of Wales as well as Northern England and some heavier bursts likely perhaps later on in the day towards the west of England.
01:51But some brighter weather yet again, some sunshine coming through but it's going to feel fresh in that wind.
01:57So temperatures in the north probably 12 to 14 Celsius, 15 for Northern Ireland, 17 to 19 across mid-Wales down towards the southeast of England.
02:06Now into Wednesday evening and overnight, any showers tending to fade away.
02:12We will see some clearer skies but notice this feature coming in here into the early hours of Thursday morning.
02:17This is a weather front which will bring cloud and also some showery bursts of rain.
02:21It could be heavy for a time into Thursday so you could get wet if you're stepping out, going to school or work.
02:26Some clearer skies across eastern parts of Scotland but a few showers running in across Northern Ireland and Scotland through the day as this showery mass of rain slowly moves towards the east there.
02:37So that's the rain on Thursday.
02:39Through Friday it's sunshine and showers again.
02:42A bit of a blustery breeze and these showers clustering together at times but there will be some sunshine coming through.
02:47Now into Saturday this weather front will bring more in the way of showers, the air will be unstable, some heavy showers of that, some stronger winds from time to time but also some brighter weather in between.
02:58I'll see you later.
