24 June- National weather forecast presented by Clare Nasir
Transcript
00:00Hello there, thanks for joining me on your Tuesday evening weather update from the Met Office.
00:05It's warming up, particularly across central and eastern areas, feeling muggy and very warm through Wednesday with some high temperatures.
00:13Weather fronts straddling the country into Wednesday though.
00:15A little bit of rain coming through from time to time, but winds will ease before another system comes in again from the west through Wednesday and into Thursday.
00:24So the weather remains fairly mobile and there will be rain or showers around into Thursday as well with some stronger winds.
00:31Now through Friday, more cloud just straddling more southern areas.
00:34The air remains very warm indeed into the weekend.
00:38For the time being, you see the cloud just coming and going.
00:42Some clearer skies across central and eastern areas, but across Wales in particular, some patchy drizzle and poor visibility with low clouds.
00:49A similar situation just skirting the south coast.
00:51For Scotland and Northern Ireland, northern England, a fair amount of cloud and some drifting showers, although some clearer skies possible towards the northeast of Scotland.
01:01It's going to feel muggy.
01:02Temperatures holding 15 or 16 across England and Wales and even further north, we'll see 13 or 14 across the towns and cities.
01:09First thing then tomorrow morning, we can pick up on that cloud and that patchy rain and drizzle just nudging in across the north coast of Devon, Somerset as well as Cornwall.
01:18The cloud could be stubborn here. Elsewhere, a mix of some brighter breaks, a few residual showers just drifting across the sky, but there will be the cloud as well just coming and going.
01:29Brighter skies through the end of the day possible.
01:31Northern England, central and southern parts of England and also for the central well, you could catch some brighter weather with temperatures rising to around 20 degrees Celsius here.
01:41But look at this towards the south as well as the southeast. The air is humid and very warm, 25 to 28 degrees Celsius.
01:4919 for the eastern side of Scotland, 23 down towards the south of Wales where you could see some sunshine.
01:56However, through Wednesday evening and overnight, some showers will develop and they will turn thundery, if not heavy, particularly across eastern counties into the early hours of the morning.
02:04At the same time, cloud and rain arrives from the west yet again. Some heavier pulses for Cumbria, Lancashire as it extends across the country through Thursday.
02:13This showery rain, again with a thundery element, will clear eventually from the east coast.
02:18Now through Thursday afternoon, we'll see some brighter skies, some showers which could turn heavy in places, but they'll be fairly scattered as that rain becomes persistent across the far north of Scotland.
02:28So yet again, a fairly messy day, a lot to contend with and temperatures typically around 23 to 25 across mid Wales, down towards the southeast of England.
02:37The high teens across Scotland and Northern Ireland are around 20 or 21 for the west country as well as Wales.
02:43But a keen breeze extending across the country. So a breezy day and again, a mix of sunshine and some showery bursts.
02:50Here's your outlook through Friday. We remain under a showery regime.
02:55We hang on to the heat across more central and eastern areas and warm elsewhere where you catch some sunshine, but there will be some showers in the mix as well.
03:03I'll see you later.
