17 June - national forecast presented by Clare Nasir
Transcript
00:00Hello there, welcome to your Tuesday evening weather update from the Met Office.
00:04Temperatures are steadily rising through the week with some strong sunshine.
00:08Although for the next 24 hours or so there will be more cloud coming and going, particularly towards the north.
00:13High pressure building from the south-west, keeping the weather fairly settled.
00:17Still some showers towards the north on Wednesday, particularly across northern western parts of Scotland.
00:22This weather front here could introduce more clouds and a little bit of patchy rain across the far north of Northern Ireland,
00:27skirting the western side of Scotland through Thursday.
00:31For the time being, this weak band of cloud and some patchy rain will tend to fade away overnight.
00:38Still those showers across the north of Scotland, the west as well with a brisk breeze, elsewhere some clearer skies.
00:44And in fact we could see some mist and fog patches forming towards the south with just a light wind.
00:49But it's going to be a warm one across some parts of England, particularly in the towns and cities.
00:53Temperatures holding 14 or 15 degrees Celsius.
00:56Across the glens of Scotland, 8 or 9 degrees Celsius.
01:00So first thing tomorrow morning, let's pick up on those showers across the far north and west of Scotland.
01:05Again with a fresh wind here.
01:07We'll have a fine start across much of Northern Ireland, although the cloud will thicken through the day.
01:12And we'll see one or two spits and spots of rain later on across the far north there.
01:16For England and Wales, it's a fine day.
01:18A little bit of patchy cloud, but lots of sunshine, high UV levels and the pollen count will be high here as well.
01:23Very high towards the southeast.
01:25Through the afternoon, temperatures responding to that sunshine.
01:29So we're likely to see a peak in temperature around 26 for mid Wales, 27 for the southeast of England.
01:35A bit cooler along this northern side here, particularly across the west.
01:39Temperatures 16 or 17, but 18 for Aberdeenshire, sheltered from the breeze.
01:43So let's pick up on that patchy rain as it clears Northern Ireland through Wednesday evening and skirts the far west of Scotland.
01:51At the same time, still a brisk wind towards the far north for Shetland and one or two showers.
01:56But certainly Thursday will dawn bright for most and warm.
02:00Any cloud tends to break up across Scotland through the morning into the afternoon.
02:04So a fine day here as well.
02:07And temperatures responding to that strong sunshine.
02:10So coming in at the very best, 22, 23 for the central belt of Scotland, 21 for Northern Ireland.
02:16We could see a 26, 27 for Wales, 29 Midlands down towards the southeast.
02:20For the west country, 22 or 23 with a bit of a breeze coming through here across the moors.
02:25Here's your outlook through Friday.
02:27Sunny spells.
02:28Temperatures comfortably into the 20s, if not the high 20s, towards the southeast.
02:3327 degrees Celsius being your high and then 32 on Saturday across London and the home counties.
02:40It's going to be very warm, if not hot everywhere.
02:42It's worth noting UV levels will be high because it's summer solstice on the Saturday.
02:47I'll see you later.
